[caveat: my experience was 3 yrs ago] Ive been meaning to transparently share that my experience was terrible. Im honestly shocked at all the good reviews -- the low ones resonate. I had a very rough experience at the clinic. Communication and coordination was atrocious -- making a call and getting answers was absurd. More importantly my interactions with Dr. Sonia Elguero were ROUGH. My first retrieval was mishandled, the eggs were way too mature under Dr. Elgueros supervision. The nurses inappropriately celebrated the number of eggs retrieved. Then I was told the testing results were in but they wouldnt give me the results because the Dr had to call. Then she called me at 6pm on NEW YEARS EVE, as if it was a favor she was doing me (after the results were in her office for days) -- and said, no eggs were suited for implantation and she WISHED ME A HAPPY NEW YEAR! Of course I was crushed and stunned at the way she delivered the news. But less emotionally -- I had a revered Dr in NYC review our approach, he pointed out all the missteps -- kindly offered to speak to Dr. Elguero, but instead I went to him for my remaining treatment AND IM SO LUCKY TO SAY THAT I NOW HAVE A HEALTHY WONDERFUL MIRACLE LITTLE GIRL. That Im 100% sure I would not have had I continued at Boston IVF. I was advanced in age, Dr. Elguero also said my chances were 5% to be successful. I think she states that because thats her personal success rate. Comms and office disorganization can be fixed, poor medical execution is inexcusable especially when dealing in the most sensitive area of reproductive science.[Response to the Response from the Owner: Not sure a template boilerplate response is demonstrating personalized anything nor hearing the feedback.]
How can you thank someone for giving you your family? Everyone at the Albany office from Dr. Elguero to my nurse, Kim, to the ultrasound technicians to the phlebotomists to the receptionists have been kind, understanding, and disarming. We were given good and bad news during our time there and truly felt empathy from staff in the bad circumstances and excitement when we got good news. I had 5 transfers, resulting in 2 healthy babies - one in 2021 and one in 2024 - and I am forever grateful.
Poorly run. Did testing with 2 different doctors there in 2 years and got drastically different answers. First doctor, Dr. Bove, said if you were my sister, Id tell you not to do it. Youll spend $20k and have no better chances than trying naturally. Second time around we just wanted to know if the dr recommended anything for us to try to help- meds etc. Dr. Resetkova is who we saw and she did the same workup as the first doctor and came to the conclusion IVF would be a great idea (despite that not being our concern. We specifically told her and her assistant we didnt want to do IVF). We did more research this time and had the right questions to ask. How many follicles were found on the ultrasound? This was not readily given to us, and my assumption is because the number was so low it would most likely result in a canceled cycle - Im glad I knew to ask. I wasnt informed Id be high dose for meds, another question I had to ask to find out. Why are these basic things not readily shared when reviewing MY case with ME? If you want to make an informed decision, you have to know what to ask because it wont be shared unless you ask. We wouldve been self pay as my insurance only covered testing. The cost came in at over $40,000 (double what Dr. Bove said which baffled me). It was difficult to get a list of meds and the general outline of the process because we havent been financially cleared yet. So we have to agree and start paying without knowing anything about the meds, how much theyll cost, a general idea of how many appts I (and my husband) need to leave work for, etc. There was also an overdue bill for my follow up appointment - an appt I was required to pay in full for before it could even take place. I inquired and was told the doctor changed my appt from a 30 min appt to a 45 min appt. I sent them a screenshot of my phone call for that appt which lasted 24 minutes and said I cant be billed for 45 mins when it lasted 24 mins. The office manager argued with me, attempted to yell at me, and was very unprofessional, so I told her Im not paying it and our business is over. She calls back 2 weeks later to tell me the doctor didnt realize I was self pay so she reduced it back down so I have no balance. I have 3 doctors in my family who said thats not a normal practice for doctors to increase time like that. I STILL, months later, am getting requests to sign contracts from the nurse. If they cant stop sending requests to patients who decline service, its hard to consider trusting them with such a major process. DO YOUR RESEARCH BEFORE DOING BUSINESS WITH THEM, or better yet, go to CNY Fertility in Latham for a fraction of the cost - and their prices are listed on their website.
I cant say enough good things about Boston IVF at the Albany Center! I was a patient of Dr. Elgueros and did donor egg IVF. Dr. Elguero was wonderful- she made a very stressful, challenging time bearable and was supportive and provided excellent care throughout the entire journey. Im so happy that it was successful and that Im currently 12 weeks pregnant! Would recommend this practice to anyone dealing with infertility.
I can’t recommend Boston IVF enough. I had a terrible experience somewhere else and they have made me feel so supported and break down everything to a level I can understand. I’m so hopeful for the future now, and it’s all thanks to the amazing staff here.
There is really so much that I could write here! I have been going to Boston IVF, the Albany location, for a couple years now. I had some pre-existing medical concerns that made me opt to start freezing embryos in the chance that I may become infertile. The entire staff, and I mean the entire staff, are absolutely tremendous, caring, knowledgeable, and helpful. From the folks who schedule appointments, to the financial clearance folks, to the techs, and the physicians- everyone is amazing. It is the most organized physician’s office I have ever been to- everything is well thought out, and they have made it super easy to follow instructions. I am now 12 weeks pregnant, and I am so thankful for all of the wonderful care I received at Albany IVF. Dr. Elguero was my physician and I have never met a physician as thorough as her. She is caring, understanding, and quite honestly a miracle worker. I am so thankful that this is where I decided to get care. I can’t thank them enough, and I hope this review helps folks who are struggling and need assistance to opt to use this location. I promise you will not regret it!
I was a patient at Albany IVF for 12 years and because of them we have three beautiful babies. Dr Elguero was sweet, professional and very knowledgeable. The entire staff treated me with so much kindness and was truly there for the whole journey. I couldn’t say enough great things about this place.
Update! Our April 11th transfer was successful, and I now have a beautiful 10 week old little boy named Lucas. We suffered one loss and one failed transfer along the way, but the staff was nothing but supportive. They were the biggest cheerleaders. If it weren’t for them being who they are I wouldn’t have continued after January. I wanted to give up so badly, but their kindness and hope really made such a difference in my outlook of things. I was so sad when I was discharged to my regular OB, because I was going to miss seeing them on a regular basis. Special shout out to Kaitlyn, my nurse, and Lacey, the phlebotomist. Also Dr. Elguero of course.I haven’t had my transfer yet, so I’ll have to come back to update my results but so far it has been a fantastic experience. I’m working with Dr. Elguero and everyone at the Albany office, from front desk to nurses at the retrieval, is so nice. Dr. Elguero took the time in our initial conversation to go through my chart thoroughly, learn about my husband and I as a couple and individuals. She was invested from the beginning. She and I really clicked right away and she’s honestly one of the nicest people I’ve met. This is a difficult journey but so far having this team be a part of it has made it much better.
I was a patient, until I was told they stopped taking my insurance. They didnt stop taking my insurance, because someone with the same insurance has gone there since they told me this.I tried to ask the nurse questions when she called with my results, but she basically hung up on me.I would love to know how a nurse is able to do procedures and answer questions.I talked to a doctor once over the phone and she had to lock herself in her bathroom because her kids were home.
After learning that I was not a candidate for tubal ligation reversal, my husband and I sought out Boston IVF. Our insurance was accepted there and they have a high success rate.I could not have been happier with Dr. Bove and the entire Boston team for their knowledge and professionalism. We now have a beautiful 1 month old son and owe this joy to them. Thank you Boston IVF team for everything you have done for our family!
We are very grateful for the doctors and nurses at Albany IVF that helped me complete my family. Dr. Elguero was extremely professional and knowledgeable. I was a patient during the beginning of the pandemic and even during lockdown, the entire staff was attentive to our needs and concerns. Would definitely recommend.
We were very happy with the fertility treatments we received at BIVF. We primarily worked with Dr Bove with Dr Elguero also doing some of my retrievals as well. Both doctors were kind, empathetic, patient, and supportive. The nursing and imaging staff were top notch as well. Any time I needed assistance during or after hours, I was able to reach someone quickly. We ended up doing 5 rounds of IVF, tweaking the protocols as necessary each round. We now have enough embryos to complete our family and I recently gave birth to a very healthy baby boy. We cannot thank BIVF enough for helping us through our fertility issues.
We are so grateful to BIVF-Albany! We initially sought care at BIVF-Albany after genetic counseling indicating that to have a healthy biological child, we should do IVF with genetic testing. We worked with Dr. Elguero primarily, sometimes with Dr. Bove, and a variety of nurses. Every single person in their all-woman staff was professional, caring, patient, and communicative. The doctors and nurses were knowledgeable; the staff members doing blood draws and ultrasound become like family. We also had good experiences with women working the business side (front office, billing, etc.). They run a very tight ship, I never waited more than 5-10 minutes for an appointment. Although they are a busy practice, I never felt like just another patient. I am now 8 weeks pregnant with a confirmed heartbeat. IVF is an extremely tough process; we were so grateful to have professionals on our side that were communicative and patient.
We had an amazing experience at Albany IVF and I would HIGHLY recommend them to anyone experiencing fertility issues. There are so many emotions and unknowns surrounding infertility, but the staff (both clinical and office) made the process easy, less scary, and treated us like we were their most important patient every time we visited the office. When we were successful with our first IUI attempt, and it was time for me to be discharged, I literally hugged the nurses when I left! I miss them already - they are a great group and amazingly proficient at what they do - making dreams come true!
Dr. Elguero and every other member of my team were nothing short of INCREDIBLE for the entire 5 years that Ive been with them. They fought for me through thick and thin and did not give up until I held my first rainbow baby in my arms in 2020. My nurse, Michelle held my hand through years of ups and downs, never letting go. They fought for me again in 2022 and gave me my 2nd miracle. I cannot recommend them enough and Ill never be able to adequately express to them how grateful I am to them for all their hard work. I wouldnt have my family without them. They are the most dedicated, knowledgeable, and compassionate team Ive ever known. If youre looking for the best that IVF has to offer...BIVF Albany center is exactly where you need to be.
Amazing and friendly staff! Very easy to get set up as a new patient, communication was clear throughout the entire process, scheduling and follow up was quick. I’ve had a wonderful experience with Dr. Bove- I left the appointment feeling hopeful and excited for a clear plan to reach our goals.
Everyone at Boston IVF has been wonderful! After coming from CNY Fertility with a poor experience, I was happy to have a dedicated team that really supported my journey. My treatment plan was followed correctly and I always heard back from my nurse quickly. I think the biggest plus for me was that i had a speciifc team assigned to me. So i was always dealing with the same nurse and the same doctor and was not having my chart bounced around between everyone in the office. This made everything more organized and they new my treatment and background without having to explain myself every time. This team is really on top of things and i would highly recommend working with them. Thanks to everyone at Boston IVF - Albany!
Dr. Elguero and the clinical staff went above and beyond any expectations we had. Every single member of the staff made us feel comfortable and were always available for questions or concerns that we may have had throughout the process. The atmosphere was inviting and comforting for both myself and my husband. The patient portal was also a wonderful tool to have available for communication with the staff, reviewing labs and retrieving documents. I would highly recommend The Albany Center to anyone seeking more information on fertility.
We are grateful for all the nurses and doctors at IVF. Dr Elguero listened attentively to our concerns. She was very empathetic and understanding during our whole journey. We would highly recommend visiting Albany IVF!
We are so blessed to have worked with Dr. Bove and the Boston IVF Albany staff.. Could not have asked for a better experience and staff. The staff constantly informed us of what was happening, what the next steps in our process were, and expertly handled any questions or concerns my husband and I had. We were fortunately lucky and blessed with TWINS after IUI. Can not say enough how amazing and helpful the staff are here. They truly make you feel like family and number 1 priority!
Update 11/18:I couldnt be happier. My husband and I recently found out we have our first little peanut on the way thanks to the staff at Boston IVF! We just graduated from the IVF world last week and look forward to the remainder of our journey and meeting our little peanut come June. All in all, Boston IVF is great. Yes, when you meet with the doctor it will take a little longer for the appointment. So, be prepared for that. However, all other treatments and visits were quick, easy and painless. I was in and out for each appointment every time in 30 minutes or less.During our journey, staff at BIVF has become like family and friends. I cannot wait to give them Baby updates as my pregnancy progresses & eventually bring my little peanut in to the office. And of course, we will be back when we are ready for #2!Update: 4/21:With the rest of the appointments I had overall, everything was amazing and much better than my initial appointment. I did have to wait longer then I planned on for my most recent appointment on 4/19. However, like I said to my husband its worth the wait as when the Doctor comes in to see you, they make sure that any questions you have are answered. They dont just rush you out the door. So, in my personal opinion Id rather wait to see the Doctor and know they are helping each patient equally then wait and feel rushed.Im excited to continue my journey and hopefully for my family to be growing in the near future. ♥️Original Post:My first appointment was scheduled for 2:15pm, I was told to arrive at 2pm. I did as instructed and wasnt seen until 2:40pm,at which point my height, weight and blood pressure were taken and then I waited until 3pm to actually be brought to a room and talk with the Doctor.Considering that Ive only had that one appointment, Im going to give them the benefit of the doubt. However, I have 3 appointments in the next week so, my experience will either get better or worse.
Fantastic experience with all staff here. Dr. Elguero speaks to me respectfully and informatively without talking down to me. All of the nurses, ultrasound technicians, and office staff are amazing. I appreciate the offices conservative approach to treatment to stay within my insurance coverage while using treatments with high rates of success. Highly recommended!
Dr. Bove is a wonderful doctor. Being from NY’s capital district, we hear a lot about two fertility clinics in particular. When I first scheduled my consultation with Boston IVF, Dr Bove spent nearly an hour reviewing my medical history and Explaining the IVF process. She explained things thoroughly and with compassion. The ‘other clinic’ spent less than 10 mins with me on the phone. The decision was easy! The clinic runs like a well oiled machine. I was always in and out with minimal waiting. I mean like less than five mins in the waiting room. The doctors and staff are kind and helpful and I would recommend them to anyone. The nurses always return calls and they’re very reassuring. To give a bit more detail, I went through the process during COVID and it worked for me the first time around. Have faith and hope. You’re in good hands at Boston IVF!
This place is just ok. Dr. Eguero was just ok. She provided medical information and nothing more. Didnt even make eye contact with my spouse who was sitting next to me. She only spoke directly to me, like he wasnt even in the room. They also draw blood too soon and unnecessarily for what I was doing. And now, they dont even take my insurance, which is a standard NY insurance company. I guess I have a good reason not to go back there.
Id heard nothing but good things about Boston IVF, and my experience was wonderful. Id been charting my cycles for over a year, and my regular OBGYN was very dismissive of that. Dr. Elguero had the opposite reaction, and asked to view my charts. It was tremendously affirming after the year-long chorus of just relax and youll get pregnant. She also discovered a thyroid issue that other doctors had missed. All of the rest of the staff were fabulous, too - friendly and professional, always taking the time to explain what was happening and why. They were kind and compassionate when I had a biochemical pregnancy, and celebrated with me when the next procedure was successful. Our baby is due at the end of October, and I couldnt be more excited.Something I appreciate in hindsight, now that I have many doctors visits elsewhere, is how my appointments always started as scheduled. I realize now how rare it is for a patients time to be respected in that way.To all the staff at Boston IVF, thank you. You helped me through one of the most difficult periods of my life, and words cant express how grateful I am for my excellent care.
We had a great experience with Dr. Bove and nurse Kim! They were great about talking through everything thoroughly and making sure we understood the whole process. The office was great with communication and answering any and all of our questions and supporting us through our fertility journey. We have our little man thanks to Dr. Bove!
We worked with Dr. Elguera and had Casie as our primary nurse. I couldnt give them higher recommendations. Both we great, very kind and compassionate. With out them and the staff at Albany IVF our current pregnancy would not have been able to happen.
My experience working with Boston IVF at The Albany Center has been wonderful. Everyone there is so nice! They really go over all of your options and make sure to be honest and open about the cost. I would recommend them to anyone having infertility issues.
Going to have a twins !!!! Thank God for the whole staff of Boston IVF and Dr Elguero with their courage, experience, and professionalism, they were welcomed and always made me feel like family with attention during this stressful process. The best advice I received was to not to give up . Thank you and God bless you all.
Thanks Boston IVF! Special thanks to Dr. Sonia Elguero and her team, as well as nurse kim, they made me feel warm during the test tube process, the process of test tube is mental and physical suffering, I thought about giving up, it was Dr. Sonia Elguero who made me feel confident , After two years, in June 2022 I gave birth to my lovely son. Choose right here!
Words could not express how I’m so grateful for Boston ivf in Albany. They made my dreams come true after struggling year’s to be a mom they made it possible. My baby was born October 17 2020. I’m proud to say I’m a mom.I wanna thank my nurse Casey who was so understanding and compassion after the first try was a failure but she give me courage not to give up. I will recommend them because they care your not just a paper. Thank you to the entire team and my doctor. My doctors Sonya was amazing she had a plan and it was a success we first went to her office I cryed my eyes out because it been so hard over the years to have a child a lot of my friends was having kids. God is good this is a testimony that miracles happen and God put them in my life.Don’t give up hope.
I went to Boston IVF desperate to have a baby. I was 44 at the time. My boyfriend and I had lost a baby to Trisomy 18 and struggled with infertility for nearly a year. Dr. Bove took her time explaining the options available to us. I should also note that I called in February and was scheduled for a consultation two days later! All of the initial testing was completed by the end of February and I met with Dr. Bove. We were told that we had less then a 5% chance of success with IUI due to my age. However, we wanted to try and Dr. Bove was willing. In March right as everything started happening with Covid, we started our first round of IUI. 3 days before my 45th birthday we found out I was pregnant! The first try was a success. Well, just over a week ago I had a healthy baby boy!!!!! We couldn’t be happier! Thank you to my nurse Kim and Dr. Bove. They always called me back, explained everything, and were so friendly. All of the staff were great! Wonderful experience!!!! Thank you for our little miracle!!!
Absolutely shameful. A friend who was at the clinic some time ago heard one employee call another “a dirty jew.” They were so upset hearing that they had no idea how to react. Can’t believe such a place lets employees say those things in public. Completely disgraceful. If you have any moral standing, don’t go here.
The head reproductive endocrinologist and infertility specialist, Dr. Sonia Elguero, at the Boston IVF Albany Center, gave us incorrect and inaccurate information, documented in writing. I was shocked at the level of unprofessionalism. The office is more interested in selling you something than actually helping you. The office is not well organized, and very difficult to communicate with if you have any sort of problem. While the nurses are all very personable, the structure is there just to make money. I would not at all recommend this IVF center to anyone. Very poor experience.
After 5 years of working unsuccessfully with other fertility centers we took a chance and switched to BOSTON IVF. Our experience from day one was different with them. Dr. Alper was very honest with us about our Chances of conceiving due to our diagnosis and several previous failed IVF attempts, he was kind but truthful and it was refreshing after all the false promises of previous doctors. Regardless of the outcome of our cycle with them he assured us we would create a plan that ended with us being able to grow our family, whether that ended up being through surrogacy, donor eggs, or adoption. He was able to give us hope and took some of the pressure off the cycle we were doing by giving us so many options. We are so lucky and grateful that our first IVF cycle with Boston IVF was a success after 4 failed cycles with other centers. We are expecting a baby boy in the Fall and we are over the moon. I would tell anyone and everyone to give Dr. Alper and his team at Boston IVF a chance to show them what they are capable of. Even if you think you have already gone to the best of the best doctors and not had success and are feeling like there is nothing anyone else can do for you and your feeling hopeless. My husband and I were there too and we decided to give them and chance and it was the best decision we have ever made. Good luck to everyone deciding to take this next step in there fertility journey you will be in the best hands with Dr. Alper and his team!
Very friendly staff and incredibly clean office. Clinic staff are usually running a few minutes early, which I appreciate since I am trying to get to work after my appointments. Rns call back promptly when I call for information. Hopefully soon I can edit this post to say I am pregnant thanks to Boston IVF.
I had the pleasure of working with the late Dr. Horvath for my oldest child. Six years later, I met Sonia Elguero. She is wonderful. She answered all of our questions honestly & clearly. The staff was very helpful & understanding during this difficult journey. I am thankful to them for my blessings.Keep positive and hopeful.
Not trans-friendly. They do not understand pronouns, and misgendered me and my partner regularly throughout all of our IUIs. And they had nurses, not clinicians perform the IUIs. If a clinician has to be the one to insert an IUD, then there is no way an unfriendly nurse should be able to insert a $1000 vial of semen into a person.
Dr Elguero was a blessing to us, she is caring and listened to our needs an preferences guiding us in every moment of what she thought would work for us and it did, our Son is now almost 5 months old strong and healthy
We were so happy with the entire process we went through! The doctors were amazing and everyone was just so kind and caring! We now have a beautiful 2 month boy and could not have asked for a better experience.
This place is a well oiled machine. They have been right on time every appt, they are so full of knowledge. If you leave a message they get back within 45 mins. They are so.positive like my initial consultation there was not even a word about me not being able to get pregnant. It was heres everything we can do, you will get pregnant I cant not say enough amazing things. WAY better the CNY who is to busy to call you for 3 weeks
The clinical staff at Boston IVF were fantastic. My questions were answered promptly and even though I had to travel 2 hrs. for procedures, it was well worth it!
Ive gone to several appointments with my wife, & the experience was beyond my expectations. I had a number of unanswered questions, which were finally answered. We will be back, soon, & wouldnt consider another practice or Dr., thanks for being so informative & personable Dr Elguero.
It takes forever for anyone to get back to for any results. You practically have to call and beg for test results. And when you finally get test results, there is no answers towards the next step. We are now on our 3rd attempt with them with no hope in site, and they just give us the test results and offer no assistance towards the next step. We feel abandoned and completely hopeless. Everyone is either unwilling or too busy to offer any help. If I could offer a review lower than 1 star I would. If you want hope, find somewhere else.
Dr. Elguero & staff were very helpful in explaining what our options were, we were very pleased with our experience, during our initial appointments. We hope to revisit the center & utilize the game plan in the future.
It isn’t what it used to be. We have been in limbo for over 4 months now. No one returns calls no one is capable of giving answers.
Stay Away if looking for outside monitoring! They want to charge patients $175 to set up in their system, which is not covered by insurance. Ive been to 4 other facilities for outside monitoring and NONE of them have done that. These people are crooks!
Trying to get a simple sperm analysis and they make you do a ridiculous amount of paperwork.
From the staff at the front desk all the way to the physicians are amazing.
Love Boston Ivf! They are very clean, friendly and attentive.
We had a terrible experience with both their scheduling and their billing departments. Would not recommend.
Friendly staff and accommodating schedule. They really work with you and are so understanding.
Great doctors. Comfortable place.
It wasn’t helpful
