In December of 2022, I was diagnosed with aggressive endometrial cancer. My doctor gave a a list of gynocological oncologists, and one of them, Dr. Pugmitr ( and Tara) had me in surgery within a week after our initial appointment. Luckily, my results came back as Stage 1. Dr. Pugmire and Tara, his nurse, got me through 8 chemos and a month of radiation promptly, kindly, compassionately, and were extremely prompt and helpful when I had questions, concerns, and needed handholding. THIS IS THE BEST TEAM EVER. As of today (7/2024), I am CA free, healthy, and beyond grateful to this skilled doctor and surgeon.
I wasnt familiar with Dr. Pugmire when he was recommended by an OB for my daughters surgery for a very large cyst, but after our first meeting we went with our gut that he would be a good and knowledgeable surgeon. We immediately felt comfortable with him and he answered all of our extensive questions. He was kind and compassionate. We loved his anesthesia team and the staff at Providence Hospital as well. I am so grateful and blessed for his excellent care of my daughter. I would highly recommend him and will go back to him if needed in the future.
Dr Pugmire looked at my ct scans and saw me within the week. My doctor originally thought I had gall bladder issues which turned more serious with ct findings. I would still be waiting on my old office (didn’t have appointment until August). Tara took the time to call me before the weekend with blood/no cancer results so I wouldn’t have to wait until Monday. I have since had surgery to remove 2 large cysts, my appendix and a total hysterectomy. I feel like a new person. Dr Pugmire was wonderful from beginning to end…..sat and talked things over with me and my daughter who is nurse. Answered all our questions and very personable. I felt very comfortable with my surgery and what was needed. Came in to check on me the next morning and all went well. I would highly recommend him and his main scheduler Tara. I had no problems making appointments, scheduling surgery, getting answers or scheduling follow ups.
I am so grateful to have Dr. Pugmire as my Gynecologic Oncologist.. He took such good care of me upon my diagnosis of Endometrial Cancer and full hysterectomy. Tara and staff are great, too!
I had a tumor the size of a grape in my uterus, but it was caught very early. I immediately scheduled a hysterectomy, but in hind site maybe I should have waited. I personally think a complete hysterectomy wasnt necessary for a grape size tumor. The surgery was uneventful and I recovered quickly despite being 51 and morbidly obese. After the surgery I was having body image issues and Dr. Pugmire listened and explained that having a uterus doesnt determine my being a women it is more about how I identify. That gave me some comfort. He also answered some of my questions about cancer because my dad died of kidney cancer. That is the five star part. The two star rating is about the inability to contact anyone when I need to make an appointment. I had one contact with staff that was very unpleasant. She was harsh, she called me rude and hung up on me. Because of that I have been postponing my six month checkups and have missed two checkups already which is not good, because it could come back. I am having some very concerning symptoms, but I dont want to be treated poorly. And do you think anyone has called to remind me that I am due for a checkup. Nope! My GP follows up every three months and is always there if I need anything. Now I have a desicion to make. Take a chance of ignoring symptoms or put up with that BS.
I would first like to mention for those with staff complaints that Dr. is only in the office on Tuesdays and Thursdays. All of the other days he is rounding at the hospital and doing surgeries. They do have a patient portal that you can send a message through if you can not wait for the office to open. Other than that, if it is an emergency then go to the ER. Dr Pugmire and his staff, worked at lightning speed to get me in as well as do my surgery the very next day. He did my surgery robotically removing my reproductive organs as well as 95% of the ovarian cancer. There are tiny grains of sand scattered throughout my pelvic area that he will treat with chemotherapy in 6 weeks. If you read Dr Pugmires reviews you will see why I choose him for my care. Not only on this particular site but on other sites. Hundreds of reviews overwhelmingly positive.
Dr. Pugmire is the best doctor I have ever had. He is an extremely skilled surgeon and has a great personality. He explains everything to you and really spends time making you comfortable. He actually was recommended to me from William Beaumont. That is how great he is in his field. My case is painful, complicated, and ongoing. I wouldnt want to go anywhere else but to this office with Dr. Pugmire and the best staff there is !
Dr.Pugmire has done a few surgeries on me & Ive been a Patient for many years. I highly recommend him. And Tara with surgical scheduling is always there as well to answer any questions before & after all of my surgeries. Great Doctor & Staff.
He did my surgery 5 years ago and it was a terrible experience. I went back to him after numerous times after surgery telling him about bloating and pain days and months after surgery, and he kept telling me it was normal. Eventually I went to Karmanos for a 2nd opinion. It was discovered that he lied on my records, never stating that he had put a drain in after surgery ( which is not usually necessary) and then removed it after only 12 hrs ( though it was filling with fluid beyond normal per nurses). I got an upper respiratory infection 2 days after surgery and the coughing was very painful. On my first post operative appointment I told him it felt like my stitches burst and he disregarded my concerns ( I have 3 hernias at those sights). My abdomen was full of fluid for 9 months and I wasn’t able to do anything without it being painful and swelling. If he would have admitted his mistakes and treated me for those issues, I would have avoided much suffering and pain. Michigan’s malpractice laws are to quick, because I deserve to be reimbursed the excess medical attention I required do to his blatant neglect of responsibility. He is an an arrogant liar.
Dr.Pugmire is a highly skilled surgeon. He was highly reccommended and I insist on doing the same. I had high risk uterine fibroids with enlarged uterus, Dr.Pugmire not only did a superior job that I could feel but he was at my side the next morning when concerns about my anemia arose and he took action..Im on my way to being healthy...Dr. Pugmire is superior. Thank You..no worries.
Dr. Pugmire was highly recommended to me and Im thankful that he was. My surgery went well and I feel that Im in good care. Dr. Pugmire is personable and takes time to answer questions. I give a 5 star recommendation!
What a wonderful surgeon with fantastic bedside manner - he went above and beyond. His concern is for making sure his patients are safe and healed. I would recommend him highly. His techniques are cutting edge and he is highly skilled in his field
Incredibly professional and gentle, I am so grateful I found this place!
Dr. Pugmire is very personable and has a great bedside manager. I would Refer him to anyone in need of a surgeon. He is a 5 star all the way!! Thank you!!
Dr. Pugmire is a good doctor but he has serious functional problems with his business and with his staff. Overall this is not a doctors office you can count on.
No one answers the phone. I have been waiting for 1 hour to schedule an appointment. Im on hold on my bluetooth as I write this review. I have been calling since the morning and no answer. No one calls you back after leaving a message and appointment request. This is ridiculous and unprofessional. They claim we can help but no one cares to help. If this is how unprofessional they are I can just imagine how unprofessional everything else would be. Explains the new reviews posted. Going elsewhere, where they actually care!
Sorry to ruin the 5 stars, I am very upset..he has good manners but he is supposed to be an EXCISION SPECIALIST!..I asked him before my endo surgery, youre not going to do ABLATION ARE YOU -because when you burn the endo instead of cut it it will come back sooner...- he said no..So I trusted him! 2 mo later Im in the same pain.😢 Its back. Yes. I watched my surgical tape and it was ALL ABLATION!! My friends have told me to report him...Im conflicted..

The best Gynecologist Oncologist for womens health. He is very kind and personable. Will answer any questions you may have. He was recommended to me from my other Oncologist Dr. Wajahat Khan. I would not trade these two for anything. They are the reason and God that I am still on this earth.
Dr. Pugmire is fantastic! Couldn’t have been more grateful for him and his staff for treating my stage 3 cancer and giving me my life back.
Dr is great but his staff are very poorly organized. For a month I call to schedule surgery and they never call back. It’s not like someone had the flu.
He is amazing, he knows what he is doing, my family is very blessed we had him as a recommendation!
Best experience with him and his staff will definitely recommend to any women that needs a Oncologist OBGYN
