I was having issues and could not get an appointment with my own GYN for three months .my friend Recommended Maiden Lane they got me in within two days. Had me come back the next day and I’m here for the third day. They are all wonderful trying to find the root cause of the problem. I am so grateful. Everybody is nothing but kind and sweet.
I had the most wonderful experience with Dr. Fleary. As a woman, especially a woman of color, I’ve always felt dismissed by previous Gynecologist when asking questions or sharing about my feminine bodily experiences. Dr. Fleary made me feel comfortable, heard, and respected above all else. She actively problem solved by giving me next steps and guidance around whatever topics I discussed, without birth control being the first or only option as most doctors have prescribed in the past. I would highly recommend this clinic to any women looking for a trusted OBGYN.
Beware that they will refuse to see you if you dont give them permission to hold your credit card information and charge your card thereafter for copay, missed appointment and other medical bills. After scheduling an appointments and calling to confirm I should still come to the appointment despite my unwillingness to allow them to hold my card information. I was advised to atill come in for the appoint, however upon arrival I was quickly turned away and not allowed to see the doctor.
About a week ago, I shared a negative review regarding my experience as a patient paying out of pocket at this office. Fortunately, the office manager, Karina, promptly addressed and resolved my billing issue, which led me to take down my original review.Unfortunately, Im compelled to repost my review after discovering fraudulent charges from Wayfair on the credit card I used exclusively for Maiden Lane. This credit card is only four months old, and the only transaction on it was at this office. I have never used it online or anywhere else—only here, for medical expenses. The staff even made a copy of my credit card, which leaves little doubt about where these fraudulent charges originated.I am deeply disappointed and disgusted by my experience with Maiden Lane. Its been riddled with issues from start to finish.
The doctor I spoke to was very kind. I decided to go with another recommendation. I asked for my medical records to be transferred. A very rude woman told me that they do not transfer medical records and to go into the portal to do it myself. I know this to be untrue and asked her again. She called back and said she medical records would be sent. One month later- NOTHING. No records were sent. Rude and wrong. These are my medical records and I have every right to ask for them to be transferred. It is really too bad because the doctor seemed very kind. It is so important to have competent office staff. The operations of a doctors’ office can make or break a patient’s experience with a doctor. I am so glad to leave this practice.
The staff is very professional and helpful. I felt very comfortable and welcomed as a patient. I was called in less than 20 minutes to be seen.
Very kind and reassuring team of doctors. LGBTQ+ friendly. Saw Dr. Fleary a few times for regular appointments. When I needed emergency surgery at NYP-Brooklyn Methodist, Dr. Swenson took really good care of me and was great with follow up appointments and checking in on my healing.
A very caring, thoughtful office. Dr Swenson is so compassionate and down to earth. A nice perk: a mini fridge in the waiting room stocked with water.
Been looking for a new gyno for awhile since moving and I am so happy I found Dr. Jill Swanson and team. They were so great!
From start to finish the staff was amazing! It’s been a while since I visited a doctor’s office where everyone was genuine and made me feel comfortable. Dr. Fleary was great! My go to doc moving forward :)
I specifically chose this practice to see Dr. Heather Jones unfortunately she changed practices after a few times of me seeing her. I was then instructed to see Jillian and that’s when everything started to go wrong. Bedside manner is horrible. Her attitude is even worse I was sent for bloodwork at a different facility. I called for a week for my results and was advised the first time I called. What test results am I looking for? That’s very concerning as a medical provider. Why are you asking me? What test results am I looking for? You should know this they never called test results the other office and asked them to fax my bloodwork which they told me was done already twice. Jillian then calls me back and says we have the results but for future reference if I don’t call you that means everything is fine , however, confusing because you never had to begin with and if I did not call them myself I was 15 weeks pregnant so the bloodwork and test that I’m going for our very important, you would have never followed up neither would your office it had been a week that would not be because of the lack of care and compassion and she simply said OK over the phone and hung up. A few days later, I was called to remind me of an appointment and I advise the rep over the phone that I would not be returning and the following reasons why she stated a office manager would reach out to me and that never happened. I am now at a new practice and I’m very happy I feel seeded and I feel that my concerns are being heard Unfortunate OBGYN during my second trimester however, this is the reason why as an African-American woman I choose to see physicians of color because it seems as though at this practice, I was completely ignored , and NOT seen or heard.
Rude receptionist and an incorrect scheduling system. if you’re going to use zocdoc their job should be to make sure the appointment times are consistent with what’s on zocdoc and what’s in their system.there are other wonderful doctors in the city that prioritize patient care with a staff that is kind.i can’t speak to the doctors.
Dr. Fleary was super super sweet, very personable, very professional, and very knowledgeable. Working in the medical field myself; I do pride myself on having good patient relations and making my patients feel comfortable and she did not fall short to any of that! To put it plainly, shes awesome! I definitely would recommend booking your appointments with her. The staff was also very pleasant and sweet 10 out of 10 recommend!
Im giving them 2 stars because a friend referred me to them and they had a positive birthing experience. Unfortunately, my first and last appointment with them was far from pleasant.I will say the support staff (nurses and techs) are all wonderful. Our doctor was a little bit absent minded. She told us to wait in a room for blood tests and after 20 minutes we discovered that she hadnt relayed this information to the nurses and they had thought we had just left. So the staff had been looking for us and were very surprised to find us waiting in a room. Our appointment was fine enough even though we didnt appreciate being forgotten but we understood at the time since it was the end of the week. However, the issues began after our appointment. We were billed for a procedure that did not occur and no matter what we have tried we cannot get our money refunded. We have literally tried everything however, our doctor insists this procedure occured when it did not. And now, 2 months after we were just charged for a visit even though we have not stepped into thei office since that initial visit.I honestly cannot speak to their level of care but when it comes to everything else, I cannot recommend. And as a pregnant person, this is is honestly the last thing I want to be figuring out.
My recent visit to see a GYN at Maiden Lane Medical at the 5 th Avenue location was fantastic. From the switch board operator who answered my request for a same day emergency visit to the receptionist at the actual location and especially the GYN Dr.G. Hans who assisted me. Dr. Hans was excellent , she was meticulous in her examination and explained what medication will be provided, the follow up that maybe needed and why. I am very happy for the service I received.😊
Great staff and doctors. Communication is quick via their app. Highly recommend this practice for all your GYN needs!
The bad reviews are startling to me!! I work in the medical field, and I am very particular when I go for medical visits. The park slope office was amazing during my pregnancy! My appts were always scheduled when requested. I saw all the providers and every single one were patient and answered all questions and concerns that I had in detail!! Dr. Gadkari, who performed my c-section, is a God-send!! Patient, kind, attentive, and most of all, RESPONSIVE!!At the beginning, the front desk employee was a bit unclear of how to verify my insurance even after I explained to her. So, I contacted the insurance while there to obtain the info for her. After that, all appts were smooth sailing.I would 100% recommend this office. I am keeping them for my regular GYN needs.
I am immensely grateful to the Maiden Lane Team (specifically Dr. Jones, Dr. Fleary, Dr. Swenson & Gillian Hans NP) for making my experience as a first-time mother so positive and memorable. They created a warm and nurturing environment that eased my anxieties that I had as a first-time mom. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience and I wholeheartedly recommend them to any expecting mother seeking compassionate and expert obstetric care.
I’m so glad I found this practice! Dr Jill-Ann Swenson and all the nurses and staff are warm, professional, responsive, and a joy to visit. I’ve never waited long. Have been able to reschedule if necessary, and always have my concerns addressed. I’d send family and friends here.
I am utterly shocked by the bad reviews. This place is wonderful. Ive seen Dr. Jones and NP Gillian Hans. They both were so kind, and answered any questions I had with ease. They are so responsive with answering messages on the patient portal, as well as appointments are easy as you are able to text the office for changes and reminders. The receptionist is always kind, and Ive never waited to be seen. I had to take 15 vitals of blood for different testing in my pregnancy, and I usually am uneasy with taking blood, but the phlebotomist was so kind, patient and amazing, I didnt feel a single thing. My mother came with me, and asked a million questions of course, and they answered with such kindness. Also this might be an unpopular opinion, but I do love that you see different doctors, that helps because your not sure which one will be there at birth if something comes up, (another patient in labor, family emergency etc...) so you gain a relationship with each doctor so when you deliver its not a complete stranger!I really highly recommend this place.
Updating my review: MISDIAGNOSED BLIGHTED OVUM.Its taken me days to write this because Im still in shock... I recently wrote a glowing review for this practice, as I had my first ultrasound with them and i felt like I was in good hands. I was very early in my pregnancy, and they confirmed that I had a yolk sac and that things looked good for how early I was. My next appointment was scheduled for 3 weeks later. This is when things went down hill.I come in for the appointment and the front desk cant remember when my last appointment was and are confused as to what Im there for?... the OB that I was scheduled to see that day asks me when my last appointment was. Im immediately put off as to why they dont have this information right in front of them. They proceed to tell me okay no worries, well give you the full appointment today Oh?? Okay.Im taken back for my ultrasound. My ultrasound is about ~5 minutes long. She asks me what due date I was given. I was never given one, because Im still early and my periods were way off right after getting off birth control. The tech prints out images and walks out with them in her hand. I obviously start sensing something is wrong. Im taken to another room, and a midwife comes in and tells me I dont have good news. She proceeds to tell me I have a blighted ovum. My gestational sac is completely empty and I need to expel this within one week, unless I want to wait for my body to do it naturally. She gives me the option to take the pill which she will prescribe for me today or schedule a surgery that Friday morning. I ask her, in shock and in tears, if she has ever seen a scenario like this where there is growth 2 weeks later on a third ultrasound to confirm. She says no. There is no way you have an embryo. It is empty. She then asks if id like to keep the sonogram photo in an cheerful tone...Im put off that an OB isnt delivering me this news. But I know I need to leave this office and make a decision later, after Im done crying and have had proper time to process. The midwife proceeds to tell me shell call me tomorrow to see what Ive decided. The next morning, I fly to my home town as I decided I wanted to do the D&C (procedure to expel it) there and be with family. I schedule a D&C consultation with a new OBGYN in my hometown. I come in for the appointment and have a 25 minute ultrasound done because they inform me that I have a tilted/retroverted uterus, which makes things harder to see. Interesting, not one ultrasound tech has noticed this until now. Then the OBGYN comes in and gives me the shock of my life, I do NOT have a blighted ovum. I have a FETUS and its still a VERY early pregnancy. I have spent the last several days in agony thinking I need to plan to miscarry this pregnancy. Only to have another doctor instruct me that there is in fact a developing embryo and I need to wait to make any sort of huge decisions like this until we know for sure whether this pregnancy will be viable or not. Im writing this to warn other women to please get a second (or in my case a third) opinion - especially if you arent having any bleeding or spotting like I was, before scheduling a D&C or taking a pill. This is *not* to give false hope to anyone but in my case I truly feel wronged by Maiden Lane Medical and am still in shock at how quickly they decided to diagnose me with something I do not have and how 100% confident they were in it. Please be warned.
Dr. Fleary is great! Wonderful bed side manor, quick wait times, and she’s easily reachable for questions/concerns on the patient portal.
I had seen Gillian, who is a nurse practitioner and certified nurse midwife, for a pap smear last year and had a good experience. So when I got pregnant this year I scheduled my first prenatal appointment with Gillian. That visit was ok overall! The office is fluorescently-lit and sterile feeling, but hey I was glad to have gotten the initial appointment, dating scan, and bloodwork sorted out.At my second visit (first trimester scan) I started to feel uneasy about continuing to receive prenatal care from MLM Park Slope. The nurse asked me “so you’re here for a pregnancy confirmation?” when I was 12 weeks pregnant and had already completed a dating scan and nuchal translucency scan, which was apparent from my records. She also asked me _twice_ within a 3 minute span if I had provided a urine sample at the front desk.I met with an OB at this visit, because I was encouraged to meet with all of the OBs who would potentially deliver my baby. When I expressed fondness for Gillian, the OB responded with “Well, Gillian is not a doctor so she won’t be delivering your baby.” This felt disparaging. I understand that not all practices allow midwives to deliver babies, but everyone in my family has had midwives deliver their babies, so I knew this isn’t true for every practice. Ultimately this comment didn’t give me confidence that my providers would be working as a team to deliver the best care for me and my baby. That visit lasted about 10 whole minutes, and the ultrasound resulted in some really blurry pictures that I didn’t even show to my husband. I imagined this first trimester visit and scan to be something special, but it left me feeling disheartened.A few weeks later I realized that I hadn’t yet received results from an important genetic screening test called the NIPT. I reached out to MLM, and the OB had left a note in my chart that said that I had told her I had gotten the genetic screening done with the nuchal translucency ultrasound a few weeks prior. This wasn’t the case — and during the visit the OB didn’t ask me this to confirm! I don’t understand why she would write something in my chart that she didn’t confirm with me!? So the NIPT was never done which resulted in me taking another trip to the office a few weeks later. Shout out to Gwen, the nurse who took my blood and did it with such great bedside manner. The front desk staff always seems clueless, asking “do you need to schedule a follow up?” even when the provider has just told them what kind of follow up I would be needing. They often schedule appointments at the wrong location and I always have to double check so I don’t show up for an appointment at the wrong place. This is my first pregnancy, so maybe I have unreasonable expectations. But I don’t think nurses reading charts and doctors doing their due diligence during appointments is asking for too much. Overall this place just feels disorganized. I have since found care elsewhere and let me tell y’all, it really does get 10000x better than this! At my new practice, the billing specialist messaged me after my first visit with an itemized list of how much my labor and delivery would cost based on my insurance’s estimates. Most importantly, I feel way more supported in this journey.Overall I think MLM Park Slope might be a good place to get non-pregnancy related care. And I think Gillian is a good provider who is providing patient-centered care. But I’d look elsewhere for your prenatal care.
I’m so happy I switched my OB-GYN. The service was a night and day difference from the previous office I visited. I felt welcomed and cared for. I was a priority. The entire team from doctors, to nurses, as well as the front desk always went above and beyond. They put me at ease and made me feel comfortable. The offfice made the entire experience of being pregnant exactly what I was hoping for as far as it was in her power to do so.
Dont go here. I visited Dr. Gadkari after a serious ob/gyn incident. She was wonderful and thorough. However, after blood test results came back a few days later, I called the office to speak to a doctor, in need of answers and some urgent follow up care, no one returned my call. Still havent yet, two weeks later. We called ML multiple times, saying it was an emergency and urgent. We were told the doctor or a doctor on call would call back. Never happened. They do not care about their patients care or well being. I dont usually post reviews but hoping this one can prevent women from future similar experiences at Maiden Lane. I will never return and would advise you not to visit this practice.
The nurse practitioner, Gillian Han, was amazing. She made me feel comfortable right away, didn’t rush, asked thoughtful questions, and I felt very taken care of. Thankful to have found this practice in Brooklyn.
If I could leave negative stars, I would. After they messed up my birth control implant it took EIGHT MONTHS and 17 phone calls (I counted) for them to get a new one, after I had to call insurance, etc because they weren’t doing anything about it. Doctors seem so overbooked that they’re not diligent, like they can only give you 30% of their attention. No one at the office called me (after they said they would try to find out information on the implant that they said they would order) it was just a nightmare. The girls at the front desk are so rude and not helpful at all.Only one woman at the bay ridge office helped me and she was lovely, so the one star I have to leave goes to her. Don’t go here. I don’t leave reviews normally but if it helps one woman avoid the catastrophe that is maiden lane, it’s worth it.
This office is an administrative hot mess.1. Before my first appt, they called and emailed me probably a cumulative 10x to continuously confirm my demographic info (like email address, home address). Kept asking the same questions repeatedly.2. Impossible to get an appt when you need it. This alone is enough to switch to an office that has availability.3. They are so unresponsive -- I called and send the provider a message at this point a month ago and have never heard back, then got a notification that I (finally) had a message from them today and turns out they STILL hadnt answered my question, it was just a bill (lol). This is the second time in a few months that this has happened.4. They billed me for a service they did not provide in my first visit. I had to contact them to rectify the issue.5. The office had some hygiene issues too -- uncovered urine samples all hanging out in the bathroom that patients use (they arent even in medical grade urine collection cups), the last patients trash (like that paper thing they call a robe to cover yourself during a pap smear) was still on the exam table when I entered, and they didnt wipe down the exam table before having me sit down.Just an overall poor experience, no reason to go here when there are other healthcare options in the city.
I couldn’t be happier with the experience I had at this office. I saw Dr. Fleary and she was fantastic. She addressed all of my concerns and made sure I was comfortable the entire time. The front desk staff were also great. I don’t write reviews very often, and I genuinely don’t understand the bad reviews for this place. Next time I need an OBGYN I am going here.
Im a patient of Gillian Hans NP n Dr. Jill-Ann Swenson@ The Park Slope Office503 5th AveBrooklynWhat is there to say other than, I absolutely love her. I, have been a patient of hers for years and I have never departed the office unsure or with regret.Every question answered and with a smile ;*)The Best of the Best hands down!pS. Examining Room Very Clean.
Although the visit itself was uneventful, after care was horrible. Extremely difficult to contact the office and the physician for follow-up on prescription and lab order. I scheduled for an imaging but missed it because I was not able to get in touch with the physician regarding my symptoms. Rescheduled the imaging only to find out that the order had missing information. The imaging center tried to call the office but again, no update from the doc. I had to contact different doctor to get an imaging order sent. Have been playing phone tag with them for days. Only got a communication after I left a review. Also, this location patient rooms have no sinks and the restroom is pretty gross. Need better management and communication.Edit: ended up needing a surgery, which Dr. J completely overlooked. Could not discern the urgency of my condition and wasted my time and money.
If I could give this place zero stars I would. I visited the place TWICE and the women behind the counter took my insurance, processed my visit as a primary care visit and tried to charge me 760$. Thank god my insurance company called them and told them they were wrong. The doctor never called me after blood work. I had to find my own blood work results. I called after blood work and they were like “oh yeah you have to come back in 6 weeks”. I asked if I didn’t call and ask would someone at the office have called me and there was no response.
I scheduled an appointment with a provider, and confirmed that she was covered by my insurance. The front desk scheduled me for a second appointment (routine exam) with another provider. Apparently this provider was NOT in-network. Now I’m stuck paying $350 (after my co-pay) even though I thought I had already confirmed I could receive care through this practice. I know that health insurance in the U.S. is broken but come on, really?Shout out to Brenda from customer service who was great.
Actually this is for my wife Su. It was a Routine wellness check up. Very organized. Appointment went smoothly and I was examined promptly. Dr Swenson was very professional and thorough. Very pleasant visit.
The office called me an hour before my appointment to say that Dr Swenson want to go home early and cancelled my appointment. She reschedule me for a month later, even though I explained I have to see the dr urgently and I already waited more than a month for this appointment. The office was not helpful at all. Would not recommend.
I had a very lovely visit here last week. The ultrasound tech was so sweet and made me feel comfortable. Dr. Swenson is always amazing and thorough.
Second visit here and both were very efficient but thorough. The medical assistants were both very kind and patient. Provider is very friendly and communicative.
Everyone was very pleasant and helpful. My appointment ran on time and Dr. Fleary has a great bedside manner!
Incompetent, incapable, and mean. They will take inaccurate notes, ask you questions that they should have the answers to (literally went in for a second appointment and was asked ‘are you pregnant?’ when that was confirmed (sonogram and everything) in detail during the previous appointment. Additionally, you will have to chase them for any and everything to get done. I have waited two weeks for an extremely needed prescription. Lastly, Dr. J Hans is rude and aggressive with horrible bedside manner. Treated me like I was ignorant and a liar, which was shocking to me. I was honestly offended and was not listened to, just berated. I one of the worst experiences I’ve ever had a doctor’s office. do not recommend and would stay far away.
I had the best experience here. It was awesome to be in a practice surrounded by Black women. I will 100% be coming back.
The providers, the staff are amazing. Karina is always very helpful.
Everyone here was soo sweet! I even doubled back to ask about giving in my resume 😅 but they’re hiring for another location unfortunately. Literally no complaints! I’ll definitely be back
Clean space, professional front desk, and quick but warm visit with Dr Swenson. Definitely happy to have found this practice.
Dr. Fleary was amazing as always.
Amazing visit ! DR. Alexandra Fleary was absolutely amazing, patient , kind and super understanding to any concerns I felt like I was talking to a friend then a DR .
This was my first time at this location. The staff were helpful, and Dr Swenson is so kind. She took the time to answer any of my questions, and she was gentle when completing my exam.
Very quick and attentive service! They are a great team and very excited to have them help me with my first pregnancy and delivery!
Really kind and clean place! No fuss healthcare, and got seen very quickly!
This was my first time at Maiden Lane and during my visit the treatments I received from Dr. Jones and staffs was excellent. I would recommend Maiden Lane to others
Saw NP Gillian Hans and thought she was great! Knowledgeable, kind and helpful. I’ll return.
My daughter was misinformed about costs that should of been covered by insurance. Now the office is stating she owes hundreds of dollars.
Very clean office, easy to make appointments, short wait time, polite staff!
Dr Heather Jones performed the most painless gynecological exam I’ve ever received!
Fast, easy, well communicated staff and physician . Will definitely keep returning
10/10🐱🩺🥼👍But seriously through professional staff, clean environment, and kindness/empathy, true professionals all around
The entire staff is kind and caring.
So quick and easy
Dr. Jones is amazing!
Goes without saying!
