I have nothing but good things to say about Shady Grove. Dr. Setton and his team went above and beyond to make my time during IVF as smooth as possible. During the first visit he gave a VERY honest opinion and thorough explanation of the whole process and also mentioned complications that were possible due to my PCOS. I was always prepared and canβt that him and his kind staff enough for making my family of two finally a family of three on the first transfer ! π₯Ήβ€οΈ
I absolutely love Dr. Setton and would give him 10 stars, but this review is for the administrative functioning of SGF, which is terrible. The onboarding was a mess-- one example (among many) is that my patient coordinator waited 2.5 months to tell me that I needed a special letter from my gynecologist stating that I was fit to carry a pregnancy even though I was 45 or older. I had turned 45 in February, but the coordinator waited until late April to tell me about this letter I needed, right after I thought I had jumped through my last hoop to finally access the donor database. This is one example of miscommunication; there are many others but I dont have the time right now to go into it.I will add that their billing is a bit shady ha ha (hey guys, bad name for a fertility clinic). I did the shared risk program, which I thought covered everything until graduation but I just got a bill for $1,120 for blood work and ultrasounds that the doctor recommended I get for the first 8-ish weeks after transfer. At no point did anyone tell me I would be responsible for any costs after a positive pregnancy test (which I guess is not the same thing as graduation). My insurance doesnt cover anything at SGF. If I had known I would be responsible, I would have gotten the blood work at Quest, and the ultrasounds at my regular OBGYN, since they take my insurance.Ultimately I would recommend SGF for the doctors, but go in with open eyes and be prepared to do a lot of work to make sure the administrative team is on top of everything.
Everyone was very friendly, welcoming and warm. I never felt stressed or overwhelmed going into the office. Everyone was professional and the communication skills was beyond this world. I never had questions because everything was explained to me before hand. I would definitely recommend.
Dr. Setton, Cat, and Val at Shady Grove Fertility in Brooklyn were kind and professional and made me feel cared for from beginning to endβeven going above and beyond to stay on call when I was struggling to get my medicine delivered through CVS!
Found it difficult to get a call back as a new patient when I had questions. Financial counselor was curt. These two facts made me want to look elsewhere but couldnt even get anyone on the phone to share my decision with.
