I switched from my previous provider in Edina to Dr Olsen based on the recommendation of a friend and to be closer to home. The amount of time and energy she put into hearing my OB history, getting extra ultrasounds, and figuring out what was causing my pain was incredible. I felt heard and understood. Once we narrowed down my issues and possible solutions, she was able to get me in for a hysterectomy within weeks. This has been life changing for me.
Research...I had a hysterectomy from Dr. Olsen 2 years ago and still suffering. I saw her almost every 2 days for the pain. After 2 weeks, the nurses told me to stop calling because there was nothing they couldnt do for me and everything was normal. She damaged my vagus nerve in my stomach, right arm & leg gets numb, horrible bacterial infection for over 1 year that lead to my small intestine being infected and my gallbladder. Had to have my gallbladder removed and part of my small intestine as well. 2 ulcers too. The lining of my stomach is still so bad that I am on a liquid diet because I had to have a balloon put in my small intestine to open it back up again a little. Because my vagus nerve in my stomach is damaged, my stomach muscles, etc., is very weak so my back is trying to make up for the lack of my core. My back is in constant pain. Sometimes, it just gives out. Due to the sensitivity of my stomach and the 2 ulcers, I cannot have any pain medication such as tylenol, ibuprofen or anything stronger. We have already tried the nerve shots and that didnt work. I have pelvic floor dysfunction and I have no contraction/sensation/feeling when I feel the need to go to the bathroom so I am on a constant stool softener. Not a laxative, because that hurts my stomach too much. The normal for me is to go #2 maybe once every 7-10 days. And that is a huge improvement from the once every 3 weeks. The entire time, I was told that all my pain was normal and to take tylenol and ibuprofen every 4 hours. Hence, the horrible 2 ulcers. I have seen many, many doctors. From everything that I have been through, listen to your body. 80% of the doctors out there will cover for other doctors. This has been my experience. Listen to your body. I am still going through this and will be forever. The only reason I found out what was wrong with me is because I went to The Mayo Hospital in Rochester, MN. All the other doctors and hospitals locally, would just give me medications that would not work and have side effects. So-please, do your research. I am only 49 and I have to live like this forever. I was very, very active before. I walked 5 miles a day. I can hardly walk 1/2 a mile a day. This has not only been very hard on me, but very hard on my family to see. Take care of you!
My family, friends and I are really mystified why this place has as many stars as it does. Agree with previous reviewer on 1) terrible patient portal and diminished quality of care 2) rude front desk receptionists that lack confidential discretion at check in and talking behind your back, 3) you always wait 1 hour once in the room to see the provider. In addition, they are quick to diagnose - and wrongly. My friend had a bad week and when she filled out the “depression” screening form (trouble sleeping and stress) in her ANNUAL visit, the provider pushed on her that she had low grade depression (so not true!) Kept pushing it on her and pushing counseling. Really? You have no basis for that when you have not encountered a patient in years! And the provider did not even ask the cause of the poor sleep and stress! There was a logical explanation. My friend had to defend that she was not depressed!Another family friend went here a year ago and was also pushed a diagnosis that was absolutely false. Fortunately she got a second opinion.Keep in mind, this is a private practice. So even more so, they need to make money. The providers may seem more “caring” but I feel they are not the top of their class in intellect (ability to diagnose).Lastly, as the one reviewer said, if you value your time, don’t go. Everyone we know that has tried this place has waited an hour over their appointment time, no apologies ever.
The staff have been so helpful! The front desk, lab techs, nurses, and providers are all great, and every experience I’ve had here has been positive. I really appreciate the accommodation of helping me coordinate outside monitoring for an outside fertility clinic too. Thanks for everything!
I have had a great experience with Obgyn specialist. My favorites are dr Haakensen and Dr Olsen. They are so kind and caring. I always feel like I am heard and cared for. 10/10 recommend
Ive had many routine and pre-natal visits at this Burnsville location. Dr. Suzie Cho is my favorite. She is very empathetic and listens to all of my concerns. She walks you through the whole process so I dont feel anxious during my visits. She was also great at following up with me when I had post-partum depression and anxiety last year. 4 stars only because there is another doctor I dont enjoy seeing.
Recommend for regular OB. But if you are seeking prenatal care, look elsewhere. Red flags all over the place! As soon as I was pregnant, quality of care diminished. 1). The patient portal is not set up for any updates on visits when you become pregnant, it is a separate EMR. 2). The front desk receptionist are rude and it becomes more prevalent when you see them once a month. My last visit included a receptionist making fun of a foreign speaker and laughing hysterically after the phone call was over. (I was absolutely horrified at the behavior). The front desk will talk about you behind your back and gossip and it is distasteful. 3). You will wait 20 mins to an hour for after your scheduled appointment time to see the doctor. If you value your time, you will find an office that sets appointments more accurately. 4). Even for a planned c-section you cannot chose who delivers your baby. You will receive whoever is on call. Considering that I didn’t like most of the doctors that I saw, this was a problem. My least favorite doctor arrived 1 hour after the scheduled appointment time, walked into the appointment voice recording it will her cell phone and expected me to do an unscheduled PAP SMEAR. (I declined).BUT….The absolute last straw for me was when the phlebotomist left me in a room after my blood was taken. Not only left, but she literally left the building because her shift was over, and asked a nurse to check on me. The nurse was walking out the building and we ended up walking out together. It was odd to say the least.I can’t imagine what would have happened if I stayed with this OB for the birth of my child. I would not let them deliver my baby, a complete stranger would offer more care and support. If you value yourself in anyway, you will find another OB for prenatal care.
Dr. Ou-Yang may be the best doctor I’ve ever had. Not only does she possess an incredible amount knowledge, she really listens, communicates, and cares. I’ve had so many doctors write off my symptoms or try to convince me to do one thing or another (especially with birth control) but she simply recommends what she thinks would best suit my needs and helps me reach my healthcare goals. I also really appreciate how she explains how different medications work, what to expect during procedures, etc. She is compassionate, kind, and a huge asset to this practice.
Ive been going to this clinic for 3 years now. This will be my second child with them. Most of the doctors and staff are great-the front desk greets you with a smile, the lab techs are all friendly and competent at their jobs. Most of the nurses really seem to love their jobs and care for their patients, and the doctors always make me feel important, take time to answer my questions, let me make my own decisions about my health care and I always feel respected. Of course there are a few care providers that I dont prefer, but thats just personal preference. I absolutely LOVE Dr. Suzin Cho! She never makes me feel like shes forcing decisions on me or that Im not the one making my health care decisions. I unfortunately need to have c-sections and she made my c-section in July 2016 so amazing. She listened to all my crazy requests and made it as close to a vaginal birth experience as possible (after a horrible first experience with an emergency c-section in a different state years ago). I look forward to my next c-section with her in September. She is an amazing doctor and I whole heatedly recommend this clinic to anyone looking for a great OBGYN!
In 2017 I came in with some concerns regarding my weight and unwanted facial hair showing up. My appointment was made with a male doctor, I don’t remember his name, but my concerns and symptoms were disregarded and just told “well some women hairier than others”. 5 years later here in 2022 I was diagnosed with PCOS. The lack of care and concern by the provider had lead my undiagnosed PCOS go untreated for several years. I am incredibly upset about the lack of care and concern the doctors have displayed about my concerns and symptoms. At least I get the care by a fertility clinic that my insurance doesn’t even cover. All I was considered at this clinic was just a number and not seen as a patient who wanted answers to her concerns. My condition could’ve been treated 5 years earlier if the doctor actually cared about my concerns. Why are us women cared so little by you doctors?
I have been going here since beginning of this year, my visits with doctors and nurses were mostly great. However the appointment desk have been rude whenever I call. I know they maybe busy but, for example, when I am done with my scheduling for future appointment(s), and said thank you, then their response was uh-huh then immediately hung up! What the heck? Did I disturb your time for doing something else or what? Another example was that the clinic suggested me to meet as many as their doctors as possible before delivery because it is uncertain who would be the doctor that going to be assigned to me when its my time to actually deliver. So I asked the appt desk while scheduling, could you please check which doctor I havent met yet? then the lady said who do you want to meet? I can pull up that doctors schedule. So she refused to check who I havent met. I had to gave one of the doctors name I already met... I dont get what is the rush and inconvenience in checking this info for me. Isnt her job to do schedule appointments? I am 5 weeks till my due date, its annoying to have to put up with such rudeness with OB clinic.
The ultrasound techs that ive gotten so far are so nice and mindful, as to my OB that i had that was Dr. Ragina Cho was very disregarding of my concerns and literally came in, sat for a few seconds and got up and hurried her answers and left the room. which didnt happen once but twice. i had a follow up with Dr. Haakenson, and she was just such a nice person overall and went into depth with my questions and concerns. i would give her a 5 star. she also made me feel very comfortable and didnt make me feel like i was wasting her time or trying to hurry away. we talked for almost 20 minutes about everything going on but with Dr.Cho was a literally 5 min visit both times.
David Rakoff, don’t schedule with him, I don’t know what he expects from the patient to smile if they having a bad, as long as the patient is answering the question I don’t see a problem. If the patient is having a bad is day is not non of his business either. He was rude with my kid, he is only 5 years old and he told him if he can wear his mask he has to leave!!! Okay he is just a kid like I really dislike how he was talking to my kid.
I had been diagnosed with PCOS through a different clinic, but had to see a fertility specialist since I had been trying to conceive for over a year. I decided to go to OBGYN specialists because it is close to my home. I had to take time off of work to come in for my appointment. When I had gotten there, I was told that they had scheduled me for the following week when they had told me that particular day. I had to wait for a doctor to become available since I was going to be out of state the next week. When the doctor had come in, she was telling me what she thought I should do and wouldnt listen to a word I said. She was saying I am young and do not need to rush. I do understand that I am young, but I have been trying for over a year. And for paying for these appointments out of my pocket, I would expect that the clinic should listen to my requests instead of telling me to do what their opinion is. I am very unhappy with the service I had received that day which disappoints me because I was hoping to return since it is only down the road from where I live. Do not think I will be returning for future appointments.
My Doctor is Caroline Haakenson. I went to the ER for complications with endometriosis and the staff were doing everything they could to help but nothing was working. The ER doctor knew that Dr. Haakenson was upstairs delivering a baby so he called up for her assistance and she came right down to assess me after she finished The delivery. She kept me overnight and came up with treatment plan for me. While many doctors tell you what they think your condition and pain level is, Dr. Haakenson listens and takes notes. She truly Exemplifies everything a doctor is and should be. She just cares about her patients. I have not met any other doctors like her and I’m so grateful I ended up in the ER the night that I met her. She gives options and doesn’t try to force any treatments on her patients. She comes up with a plan and commit is to working through the plan together. She’s literally and Angel!
I have been going here for about a year for pcos and infertility, seeing Dr Shibley. Who is By far one of the best obgyn doctors I have ever seen. He is personable and understanding not to mention he listens to my concerns and does everything he can to help. I have never waited in the waiting room past 10 minutes. When I schedule an appointment I never have to wait a ridiculous amount of time to get in to see my Dr. If you go to this office I highly recommend Dr Shibley.
Ive been going here since i was 16. Im really disappointed with them. I couldnt get in to be seen while i was miscarrying so i went to er per their recommendation. Tried to get in per ER recommendation. Busy. Went to Woodwinds because they could see me. Long drive though so tried to transfer care back. Woodwinds was sort nice about it. Obgyn specialists said no- you have to stay there. Im blown away. Then they send me a certified letter saying they dont want to continue care with me... while Im continuing to miscarry. Really really heartless. Theyve been going majorly downhill with customer service over the past few years as their original drs are getting older and no longer around.
I can’t say enough positive things about my experience here. From the front desk staff to nurses to doctors, it all was amazing. They were prompt in their responses via phone/online portal and just helped me so much during pregnancy from educating me to talking throufh any concern I had. You exceeded my expectations by far and made this whole experience better than I thought it ever would be. THANK YOU!
Absolutely love this clinic, everyone is always so helpful and kind. I switched just so I could follow Dr. Haakenson for my twins pregnancy. Ive met a few of the other doctors and liked them as well. Highly recommend!
Second time I am here for annual, arrived 10 min before appointment time. Waiting 40 minutes past my appointment time and still waiting, receptionist told me 20 min ago they are about to come get me any minute. Still waiting! I was dealing with the same issue last year.I will be switching clinics! Complete disrespect to my personal time!
I really love the doctors here! However, the wait is ridiculously long - especially for the lab! I’ve come in a few times for lab only appointments and always wait at least 15-20 minutes.
I was at this place since 2:40 pm unit 5:00pm waiting just to see a doctor, and after that they tell me there’s no doctor coming because she want to deliver. Like really why do I care if she’s gone to do deliver and keeping me waiting. I don’t recommend this place.
2 words. Dr, Haakenson. She is simply delightful, knowledgeable and efficient.
Great staff, wonderful environment! The Doctors really take their time with you. Highly recommend!
I have been a patient here for 8 years. Wonderful staff and doctors.
AWESOME AND FRIENDLY!!!
