I had an incredibly positive experience with the Marin Fertility Center and their whole team! They worked really hard to get my insurance to cover all eligible items, they listened to me during appointments and answered all my questions and customized the care plan based on my preferences, insurance coverage, and even my own awareness of my body, and they worked with me to find creative solutions with a variety of care logistics. These things should all be standard, but they are so rare these days. And I got to experience this exceptional care at Marin Fertility! With their partnership, I am successfully pregnant with a healthy baby. A miracle indeed. I couldnt be more grateful - truly.
MFC is amazing! Dr. Uzelac and his entire team, from nurses to billing, are the absolute best! They kept our spirits up throughout the entire IVF process over the years and were always there for us. They are not only the best in their field, but they are compassionate and truly care about their patients. They became like family to us, and always treated us like family. They are the reason we have our miracle baby, and we are forever grateful. If you are going through infertility and searching for the best team to help you have your little miracle, then you’ve found the team right here with Dr. U and Dr. Brotherton.
We were fortunately to find MFC! After multiple losses, and other trauma which required surgery, we finally found doctors who listened to us that there was indeed an issue. We did two ERs, and we were blessed with our first transfer by having our first child. We are hopeful we can all do again this summer.
We are incredibly grateful for the service we received at Marin Fertility. We had previously met with / received services at another clinic, but decided to seek out a second opinion with Dr. Uzelac and I can truly say that in hindsight this was the best decision I could have made. The staff at MFC are kind and helpful - I always was excited to come into the office and see friendly faces. I particularly had a very positive experience with the administration staff, namely Priya, who spent hours upon hours helping me navigate my insurance process. While pursuing IVF is difficult and emotionally draining, the MFC staff made me feel like they were on my team.Dr. Uzelac has been one of the best doctors Ive seen. Unlike most other doctors, he listened to all my questions and was even open to reviewing studies I found to see if they might fit my situation. I really dont think I would have received the level of care I had here at MFC at any other clinic in the North Bay.I highly recommend MFC to anyone struggling with infertility - this is a team that will work with you and for you.
I’m writing this review ahead of my first transfer. I’m doing so because my appreciation for the staff at MFC is not dependent upon my success of achieving my goal of motherhood. Regardless if I’m successful or not, I’m a forever grateful for the care I have received at MFC. I’m truly going to miss this group. The MA’s deserve the world! Isabel, Jennifer, Leah, Melissa and Ginger are meant for healthcare! I just can’t say enough about all the smiles and I hugs I received from them and how special they made me feel. Linda and Priya never hesitated to send referrals, even when they knew my insurance would deny the claim, just so I had the peace of mind that an effort had me made. I only saw Dr. Uzelac a few times but he was always kind and warm, always. Dr. Brotherton, my primary doctor, what can I say… she exudes compassion. She’s an absolute rockstar! She is one of the most patient, thoughtful, and caring doctors I have ever received care from. I’m the kind of person who likes it straight and she somehow find the balance of giving the facts while still being considerate of the sensitivity of the situation. Just the absolute best!I’m hoping that this review has convinced anyone looking to start their fertility journey to consider coming to MFC, even if it’s just for a consultation. I just can’t imagine that it’s done better anywhere else.
I highly recommend MFC to anyone looking for fertility services. I first underwent three rounds of IUI that were unfortunately unsuccessful, and then transitioned to IVF. Throughout the entire process, everyone was so helpful, patient, and empathetic and treated me with respect and kindness. They took the time to answer my questions and I felt like an individual that they cared about and were invested in what I wanted, not just a patient. I am so happy to say that I am now enjoying life with my two and a half week old baby girl - I am forever grateful to MFC for making my dreams come true.
I did my whole IVF experience at Marin Fertility Center, and every person I interacted with was professional and very personable. I was able to ask all my questions and get thorough responses. There are many steps involved and they made sure I understood exactly what was happening at each step. I would absolutely recommend MFC to anyone considering fertility help.
I do not hesitate to give Marin Fertility Center five stars. From intake to discharge, the doctors, nurses and staff were kind and courteous, competent and professional. They listened to me, answered my questions and provided superb care. I got the outcome I desired, of course, a healthy baby. I’ll forever be indebted to MFC for making this miracle happen for me and my family. There is one point upon which I’d recommend improvement and that is communication. It was not made clear to me that I should have ordered my meds, and scheduled an instructional appointment for administration of meds, before starting my IVF cycle, and so I rushed to do this all on the first day of my cycle.I repeatedly requested that messages be sent to me through the secure portal rather than by phone (I don’t have privacy at work), but this only happened some of the time. I had to send phone calls to voicemail and sneak out of work to listen to them and call the clinic back which was inconvenient for me.I was hoping to receive an email reply from MFC staff about the good news of the birth of my baby but got no response, just a form email asking me to report on my birth outcome, which felt clinical and impersonal. My overall experience with MFC was A+ and I will love them and be grateful to them forever. I just have these few suggestions on improving communication.
The MFC team has been fantastic along our journey. Not only is the office run seamlessly, but they truly care about the well-being and success of the families that they work with. We really appreciated Dr. Uzelacs approach to informing us about the process we would be facing. He helped us feel knowledgeable about what is a very difficult situation and explained everything with a straightforward, scientific approach which we really appreciated. The cycle coordinators and staff are supportive, responsive, and kind - you cant underestimate the impact of their positivity and steady hand while going through such an unknown process. I also found it easy to schedule appointments, work with insurance, and all the other administrative points that can be hard with other medical offices -- this is just the cherry on top for a working professional. On a personal note, we ended up getting pregnant naturally while going through IVF (one of the miracle stories you hear about that you think will never happen to you). The nurse who told us the news was crying from happiness. When I came in for subsequent checkups (the MFC team went above and beyond to do our first ultrasounds even with a natural pregnancy), the teams were getting choked up. They really do just care that much about their families. I couldnt recommend them more.
I will start by saying that MFC makes a difficult process much easier and less stressful! The office staff is responsive and always helpful, and just the best all the time! Dr Uzelac and all the other physicians there are simply amazing. Dr Uzelac thoroughly explains everything and make you feel very comfortable from the start. We never knew how that chapter in our lives was going to turn out, and we never lost hope when going through the process at MFC, because we found Dr Uzelak to go beyond and above any test or new protocol that may raise his patients’ chances to walk away with a baby. All that is done through exceptional care. Every single procedure was worth it.The entire front office goes beyond and above to make you feel comfortable, the nurses are all adorable and deeply caring. Before MFC, we have tried 3 others bay are fertility clinics. UCSF, Dr Zouves and Pacific Fertility Clinic. UCSF was meh, doctors did not seem to be patients focus and not very companionate. We moved on after 2 failed cycle. Dr Zouves was awesome, but things didn’t work out. We went to Pacific Fertility, big mistake, we run away. Then we found MFC and never looked back. If you’re either in the middle of your fertility journey, or starting it, or just plain discouraged from continuing to try, you need to go to Marin Fertility. You’ll be treated with dignity, you’ll have a doctor that listen to you, care for your concerns, and ready to work with you to make your dream comes true. MFC seems to be the only clinic that actually uses some of the cutting edge technology when it comes to fertility treatment. For someone who’s been through multiples treatments and IVF cycles at many clinics, I strongly recommend MFC and Dr Uzelac. He is very knowledgeable, caring, and passionate about his job and patients success. We can’t thank MFC enough for making our dream come true. Our beautiful baby boy will always remind us of MFC, a place we absolutely love with all our hearts.
I can’t describe how grateful I am with the entire team and starting with Peter Uzelac,I have tried for 13 years to get pregnant and start a family, until I found this clinic. I am 3 month pregnant 😍😍.They are the best in Marin County. If you have tried and nothing … please contact them, they knows what they are doing. I am also grateful with Kirsten for being so sweet she is also great❤️ Thanks god I found this clinic 🙌🏼 God bless all of them.
We cannot sing MFC’s praises enough. We received individualized, comprehensive, and empathetic care throughout our 8 month IVF experience which included 2 egg retrievals and 1 fully medicated embryo transfer (yes, our first embryo transfer has been successful so far! 18 weeks today). Here are just a few of the reasons we feel incredibly lucky to have received care from MFC:(1) MFC Has a Boutique Feel — Unlike other fertility clinics in the Bay Area, MFC is small (or at least it feels that way - we do not know the number of patients it serves!), and you are not just a number. You see the same staff every single time you visit (even if you have a different team member for your particular visit, you see familiar faces all around you). We also had no issue getting appointments, and we did not experience any lag in treatment due to the clinic being too busy to take us.(2) MFC is a Gift to People with Endometriosis — Ciarra has lived with endometriosis for 19 years, and yet, she has *never* felt more understood and preemptively cared for by a medical professional than while while under MFC’s care (particularly Dr. Brotherton). We did not have to advocate for Ciarra’s endo-specific needs the way we typically have to; Dr. B just *knew* what she needed (sometimes even before Ciarra did!).(3) MFC is Proactive — Dr. Uzelac and Dr. Brotherton changed our supplement and stimulation medication protocols quite a bit for the second egg retrieval, including adding Omnitrope (which many clinics are hesitant to add because studies show increased success or no change in results). Their changes made all the difference, and we had a very successful second retrieval.MFC also added two months of Lupron Depot for hormonal down regulation to our pre-embryo transfer treatment to quiet inflammation from endometriosis. We know some clinics are unwilling to prescribe this treatment until after you have had a failed transfer or a loss. We are extremely thankful that MFC did not make us go through that experience first.(4) MFC Treats its Patients with Patience and Empathy — The clinic provides you with several informational documents during your treatment, and if you are anything like us, you will devour the information and prepare a list of questions to ask during your next appointment. The MFC medical team, including Lia and Isabel, had *so* much patience with us and could readily answer all our questions, including ones about lab controls and nitty gritty PGT-A confidence intervals, without ever making us feel like a burden or annoying.Dr. Brotheron treated us with *extreme* patience and empathy throughout my treatment, but particularly when addressing Ciarra’s (numerous) Lupron Depot side effects and her (significant) post-FET anxiety. Dr. B gave us several reassurance ultrasound scans until we graduated the clinic because she knew it kept Ciarra’s anxiety at bay. We genuinely miss Dr. B (she is freaking HILARIOUS) and wish she was our regular OB.(6) MFC Will Help You Navigate Insurance Bureaucracy -- A major shout out is owed to Priya in the back office for spending *countless* hours submitting prior authorizations and on hold to get medications quickly so we could change course and start another egg retrieval (over the holidays, might I add), preparing several iterations of receipts to seek reimbursement, et cetera. Priya works incredibly hard to serve MFC’s patients — oftentimes going well above and beyond her job responsibilities — and the clinic is very lucky to have her.Google literally does not give enough characters to fix our entire review. In sum, run — do not walk — to MFC if you are struggling with infertility.
We have loved working with Dr. Uzelac and the team at Marin Fertility Center. The staff are all so kind. I felt that Dr. Uzelac always explained things to me clearly and helped us to make smart choices in our treatment that led to successful outcomes. We have worked with the team twice and plan to again. We also enjoyed working with Kirsten Eckert in Santa Rosa during our most recent transfer. But still worth driving from Santa Rosa to work with this team.
Marin Fertility made me believe in miracles. They cried with us at every loss and celebrated with us at every win. They never gave up hope or stopped trying. My husband and I welcomed our beautiful baby girl this past May - amazing things are always possible!
I started going to MFC in 2017 and I will forever be grateful for their place in my life. They helped me through every step I took in my fertility journey, from testing, procedures, pregnancy, loss, and all things in-between. Ive always been treated so well and thanks to their efforts I have two miracle children. I could go on and on about my positive experience with the staff and practitioners but I have trusted my life and the life of my children in their hands and I will again if I choose to try for another child in the future. I highly recommend MFC for anyone looking for compassionate and competent fertility care.
I just want to thank Dr. Uzelac and the team at Marin Fertility for all they were able to support us with. They provided- data driven and modern recommendations with our best interest in mind- listened to our unique needs, but also helped us get grounded in the science- helping us conceive our beautiful baby boy who is the center of our worldDr. Uzelac is a straight forward, science first, outcomes based doctor, surrounded by a team of smart, resourceful and supportive specialists (everyone from the Linda the front desks, the nurses, lab team were all so important to me). They felt like my team, on my side in an effort to help us get pregnant. At the end of the day these people are on your journey with you through ups and downs, and some of the 1st people I wanted to share our birth with was the team at Marin Fertility because they were my support circle on the hard beginning steps of that journey.Recommend. 10 out of 10.
I was a patient at MFC a few years ago for help in getting our son here. The staff is amazing - very supportive, nice, knowledgeable. I originally was working with another doctor for my first few rounds that were unsuccessful. Then I was transferred to Dr Uzelac when she left. He met with us, I felt he was honest with our situation in helping us determine if we should try again. He took a look at what we already tried, and proposed a different approach for the next round. I felt comfortable with his knowledge and experience in what he recommended. He was patient with us and talked through all of our questions. And happily our 3rd round was successful. His bedside manner was great (the whole staff really) and I highly recommend MFC. Additionally, the finance department was super helpful and patient in working through all of the insurance dealings, much appreciated.
Expect other fees mid to end of cycle. Very very few insurances cover anything. You will have to pay for saline sonograms, approx 450.00 and then at the very end you will have to pay for the blood work out of pocket for pregnancy test approx 140.00 x2. Then if you want the ultrasound before transfer to your primary care, you will have to pay out of pocket for that. Easy another 1k dollars out of pocket. All said and done cycle, meds and out of pocket expenses 30k dollars. They will always add additional cost. Not what u want to hear going through the process midway that you owe more money. Very frustrating
I wanted to share my great experience with Marin Fertility. I got referred to go to them by my OB when I was struggling to get pregnant. From start to finish I was treated amazing by everyone. I felt like everyone was invested in my success and really supported. They were always responsive when I had questions, they have a portal you can message them in and they get right back to you. I first tried an IUI which was unsuccessful so we then moved to IVF. They created a plan for me and explained everything in detail. After my egg retrieval and then a transfer I am happy to say I am now 13 weeks pregnant. I can’t recommend them enough if you are looking for a fertility center. You will get the support you need during a difficult and confusing time.
My first IVF experience and it worked! My family of 5 is complete and my dude is pure perfection. I took a star away for how it all started. VERY bumpy administrative start that left me crying at one point. Never the less. Baby ✅
Thank you to Dr. Uzelac and the whole team at MFC for helping us complete our family! Dr. U is on top of all the latest developments in fertility science and definitely gained our trust. Only good things to say about MFC.
Dr. Uzelac, Kirsten, and staff were everything we needed. They really made our dreams come true. First we tried Pacific Fertility in SF but it had plastic surgery/cannabis dispensary vibes. And they didn’t succeed. MFC was down to earth and put their services before profit. They don’t have a fancy building but they actually succeeded.Highly recommend.
Had a wonderful experience with IVF at Marin Fertility and cannot recommend Dr. Uzelac and his wonderful team enough! Our family is so grateful for the love, care and support provided by the team.
The staff and providers here are exceptional. They go above and beyond to make patients feel comfortable during a process that can be very difficult. The care and support provided by each staff member is unmatched.
I originally decided to go with Marin Fertility Center because of their location in Santa Rosa and they accepted insurance. It was not made clear me to that they were only there about once a month for a few hours. Also lab work is not covered by insurance and most of what they do is lab work. Although my insurance covered treatment 100% they would not bill insurance for lab work and I had to pay a lot out of pocket. Their practice is not open on the weekends because of this we missed an IUI cycle - your body doesn’t take the weekends off. I believe you need to connect with your doctors and we just didn’t connect with Dr. After 6 months of treatment here, ultimately decided to go with another center. A center that was open on the weekends, lab work was covered under insurance and a doctor we connected with.
My consult and one in-person visit with Dr. Uzelac, were atrocious: he has zero empathy and was distracted, almost as if he were listening to another channel with an invisible earpiece, e.g. I had to ask the same question about the clinics fertility statistics … the same question three separate times, each with him giving me a different answer. Because he kept changing his answers, I didn’t trust his data nor his communique, and said as much. He became irate, red in the face, and blustered his way through the rest of my complementary consult. At one point, about 10 minutes into my first in-office visit, he excused himself to step outside the room and I heard him yelling—actively screaming at and berating—an employee. Sitting there, I felt bad for whomever was the target of his ire. And btw., a shout-out for his staff, because everyone I dealt with, albeit briefly—the receptionist/scheduler, RN, assistant(s), etc. everyone was unfailingly gentle and professional, superbly gracious, sensitive. Because I felt nervous about and daunted by the procedures I’d have to undergo, I asked several questions to Dr. Uzelac, about the side-effects/safety of the hormones I’d be taking, to which he had a bizarre attitude of entitlement, as if how dare I question him. This is one of the most condescending, arrogant, pompous ego-ridden physicians I’ve ever had the misfortune of meeting. He has chosen to go into fertility specialty—why?? I did not feel respected, nor listened to, nor understood. Though I was asking questions so I could better understand and learn from his expertise, he clearly felt threatened, and became defensive, got all up in arms about his “experience,” “education,” “training.” He clearly thinks highly of himself, maybe more than others around him. Dr. Uzelac likes to listen to himself, and treats his patients—all women—poorly. I had so much hope about becoming pregnant and that maybe MFC would help me, but when after my appt. I got to my car, I cried. I get the distinct sense that his staff runs the clinic, despite him, despite his insecurities and in spite of his blundering. I can’t imagine MFC would be functional without his staff; he’s more a hindrance than an asset. How sad. If I give him the benefit of doubt, maybe he’s overworked, but he cannot be allowed to lash out at patients, e.g. how he acted with me. Btw., their website is misleading and needs updating, as is the information given to me as a prospective new patient, e.g. they do not currently employ another physician and the current staff is not reflected on their site.Though I went to MFC highly interested in egg freezing, it doesn’t seem to be their premier service. Dr. Uzelac, before seeing a patient, check your ego and give yourself a dose of empathy.
My wife and I on a whim after doing 2 egg retrieval’s and 3 + separate egg transfers at a fertility clinic in the north bay with little success still chose to meet with Dr Agard. We met with Dr Agard a few months back, with no expectations, more so just to possibly look for a second opinion, after being told by our former fertility doctor that we had next to 0 chance of getting pregnant in our current scenario(pushing 40 yet we started with them barely above 35). Well Dr Agard was very honest with us, yet confident she and her team had the skills to make our dream come true! Which positivity (not naivety) was so refreshing from what we had seen! We decided to attempt another egg retrieval with Marin Fertility, and came back with 3 PGS tested embryos and hope.....I’ll give you an amazing update after 5-17-2020 ;)! Nonetheless we were blown away with the level of professionalism, communication, and willingness to work with our schedules. We wish this would’ve been the first Fertility Clinic we chose, because I believe it would’ve been our only one! Thank you all SO MUCH!
I highly recommend MFC. Dr. Uzelac and his staff are very professional, compassionate and highly skilled.
Absolutely stellar team. Thank you so much for answering all of my questions and taking great care of me!
