Planned Parenthood - Independence Health Center

I have been here twice now, and both times have been the best doctor office experience I’ve ever had. I have extreme anxiety when it comes to doctors offices that usually results in a vaso vagal episode but here I felt no stress. The nurse and the doctor were so nice. I went in for a wellness visit and the doctor was more knowledgeable about my epilepsy than my neurologist was. She was able to explain things to me in a way that I understood and really listened to me and did not disregard me. She explained treatment to me and made sure I was comfortable with it and made sure I knew I had a choice and I only had to do what I was comfortable with. I had Dr. Britney this time, I can’t remember who I had last time but she was also good. They were respectful and kind and I couldn’t imagine going anywhere else for such a sensitive topic. Thank you to all the workers here! 10/10 would recommend for all your needs.

I set an apfor 3:15, the girl at the front was rude upon arrival and an hour later i still wasnt seen. Two people came in after my set appointment time passed and they saw them before me. They charged me my co pay befote seeing me, and because i had other appointments i had to leave even though i already paid. I will be asking for my co pay back.

I had my nexplanon removed and had a new one put in Jessica was my nurse practitioner she was so sweet, and kind ,very professional I am horrible with needles and ended up getting sick and she was so easy going and understanding I am so appreciative of her. I didnt have to wait long at all and the lady at the front desk was very helpful and kind as well. I told her I didnt have the full amount I needed to pay and she helped me and brought the price way down thank you ladies very much.

I gotten my hormone replacement therapy through this location for about a year and a half(blood work every 3 months) and they are very respectful and knowledgeable about transgender healthcare. The sliding scale is very generous. Appointments usually run a bit behind but its not a big deal. I recommend this location to people all of the time.

I appreciate everything they do for lots of people. That said, I arrived at 12:10 for my 12:30 appointment and wasnt seen til after 1 after waiting over an hour. Meanwhile other people came in after me and got in sooner. Id appreciate it if I could be seen on time as I made it in on time. Otherwise it was a great experience and the NP removed my implant quickly and painlessly.

It took about an hour to get my exam done and get my pills; the front desk was pretty rude in the sense that they sat talking and having a good time and then called me up when they were done with their conversation. Aside from that, the nurse and the actual doctor were very nice and friendly and made me feel comfortable my first time there. I didnt wait very long, although I can see the front desk people getting absorbed in their conversations long enough to cause delays.

I had a great experience here. Didnt wait long for my appointment. Had someone knowledgeable work with me and had someone take my blood without much pain. My HRT was done fast and was completely covered by the grant they have right now.

I’m really baffled at the bad reviews for the length of the visit. If I had to sit there for hours for my free birth control I’m not going to complain. These are free or discounted services. We’re lucky planned parenthood exists at all. I’ve never had an issue at this location. They are all nice. I’ve personally never had a long wait here. I think this is the best location. I have had issues with the other locations but not enough to give them less than 3 stars when they’re giving me free birth control...

I have only been once, but it was a really great visit compared to what my previous drs office/well women visits have been like at medical centers or private practices. I got in quickly, they kept the paperwork to a minimum, and the nurse practitioner who met with me was super friendly. I usually expect that Ill need to be in an office for an hour and a half and I spent less than an hour there. They listened and offered feedback about what I was considering and Im excited for my next appointment.

I stand with planned Parenthood. I respect and appreciate all they do. But my appointment was at 4:10. I arrived at 3:55, got into an exam room at 4:20, and didnt see the doctor until 5:10. They thanked me for my patience, but I would have appreciated a heads up or any notice whatsoever. I thought they were closing the office on me (not to mention I already had my pants off so couldnt really poke my head my head out to check), and Id had a very long and frustrating day already. I was polite and understanding, and the doctor is always kind and informative, but damn, they always take forever.

I was having problems with a Nexplanon (inner arm implant) and no one could get me in for months to have it removed. PP was able to get me in the very next week. Appointment was at noon. Came in at 1:45 and was done filling out paperwork and in the OR within about half an hour. The Dr that saw me was very sweet and talked me through the entire process as she was doing it. Very informative and friendly! was in and out in about an hour

Worst experience ever. If you absolutely dont have to come here, DONT. It took over 2 hours just to get birth control! No tests, yearly, etc. I didnt even get to fill out paperwork until 15 minutes after my appointment was supposed to start, and I had been there for 30 minutes at that point. I got 5 minutes with a med tech and then over an hour of listening to all of them stand around and talk, sometimes about unnamed patients, sometimes about personal things. But the incessant laughing while youre waiting for forever is infuriating.

I was told to show up 30 minutes early for my 12:00 appointment to fill out paperwork. There was no one at the front office when I arrived. I waited 15 minutes just for someone to come to the desk and tell me to write down my name. I wasnt even handed the paperwork for another 20 minutes. It took barely 5 minutes to fill out. Its 1:05 and I am still sitting here waiting on them to call me back. Never going here again.

I was extremely disappointed with this place recently. I feel like they let me down. My daughter turned 18 and lost her insurance.She is responsible, sweet and mature. Works, enrolled in college and out on her own.I referred her to planned parenthood to get her first pap and to get birth control. They were rude, unhelpful and made her feel they looked down on her for wanting birth control!! She never did get any help.It is unacceptable for a place that is supposed to be helping the community would make a young girl trying to be responsible feel like this, so that she doesnt get help. No wonder Independence is the way it is....

This place is terrible. Absolutely terrible it was the worst experience of my life. They refused to see me. Its suppose to be walk ins welcome but Nope They will not accept walk ins ever. They only take you by appointment which I will say this... that doesnt even matter. They had me wait 45 minutes to even be seen when I finally did get the chance to be seen. I had made 4 trips to t his location!!!!! They didnt fill out my health chart all the way.. it was like they stopped in the middle of it.. Yet asked me my required questions... They had me wait 30 minutes in the exam room.. they gave me a pregnancy test before I was able to get my depo shot. Then the receptionist pulled me out of the exam room and said I had to reschedule my appointment again. And then I didnt even get the results to that pregnancy test. I was just kicked out of the room. So then I was rescheduled for the North KC one. Now explain to me why they seen me within seconds and gave me my depo shot no problem a quick in and out appointment. I will NEVER EVER return to the independence location!!!! In face I am glad they didnt even give me a shot or anything. That place is very dirty and not very safe when it comes to their LAB if you can even call it that. Either way terrible place. I wish I could give them zero stars. And I will tell you this if you make a complaint about this location they will call you and argue with you... basically harass you and make you feel like a terrible person for making a complaint about them.

The staff is pleasant and they do a good job but were currently having an insurance mix-up 4 months after my appointment and every time I attempt to call this location to get it figured out, I either never get an answer or they try to transfer me to another person who ALSO doesnt answer, so I leave multiple messages and never get a call back. Its frustrating and I dont know what to do.

Great! Very friendly, helpful, and understanding people. The receptionist was rude and condescending which is why this doesnt get five stars. Dont let this deter you. I was hesitant about going to Planned Parenthood, but need birth control without insurance. Glad I went. The nurse and nurse practitioner were kind, very informative, and patient with my many questions. Im very appreciative for this resource!

I was going to ignore the fact that I waited almost an hour after my scheduled appointment time until I got in but now it’s 4 days later and the pharmacy can’t get a hold of anyone to fix the incorrect prescriptions wrote by Dr. Julie Talley. I spent almost an hour on the phone until I reached someone who has now said let me call you back. Extremely frustrating.

My appt was at 4:10, I arrived about 15 min early and wasnt even given my paperwork to fill out until 4:30. I sat for 2 HOURS and wasnt called on until 6:10. The front desk was a little rude, the nurse practitioner was very friendly but I watched about 10 people who arrived after me get seen before me and I should not have had to wait 2 hrs after my scheduled appointment.

The last 2 times I have gone it has gotten bad. its no point in making an appointment both times I waited over an hour. today I was there and waited over an hour it was only 4 of us in there so I go asked when Ill be called back and the lady was very rude in the front and act like she had an attitude. I left after waiting over an hours because I still wasnt called to the back. everyone that works there always has an attitude. I wont be back😡

This location is amazing! Staff members here are amazing, super friendly, and know what they are doing! My experience has always been so great! Thank you, Planned Parenthood!

I lost my health insurance back in January due to my mother losing her job. I came to plan parthood thinking since I have a low income job and my mother was jobless I could get a cheap birth control but instead I had to pay $180 for just the exam and they MAKE you take a pregnancy test which they do not tell you adds on to the exam fee. And my birth control is still $15 a month through them. It was cheaper when I had health insurance. And to top it off they were suppose to be taking monthly payments out of my checking account each month to make the exam fee affords able Which I assumed they were doing and just a day ago I got a letter saying my payment was over due. And to top it off every single time I try to call to make the payment the phone just rings and rings or I get sent to a voice mail and they never give me a call back.

Made an appointment and arrived early for he paperwork. Waited over an hour past the appointment time. The front desk person was very friendly and the other staff was nice. Only complaint is the wait.

Everytime I scheduled a appointment I never seem to see anyone at the location!! They have no one there to see me or properly do exam. This is unacceptable and ridiculous. I will 🚫 never recommend anyone to 🤔 this location. And the staff is rude

Always takes forever, even if you have an appointment. I had an appointment at 2:20 on Thursday, didnt get back to a room until 3, waiting 30-40 minutes for the doctor, and didnt get out until 4. They were suppose to send my medication to my pharmacy and never did. I have to wait until today (monday) to go up there in person to have them send the prescription because I can never get through to them on the phone.

Had an appointment for a consult. Arrived a few minutes after they suggested was still seen on time. Service was great and staff was friendly. Definitely not what I had expected from past reviews. Will be returning.

Very pleasant experience. I was nervous from rating but nurse janeatta (sorry if misspelled) made me very comfortable & i would come back if i ever needed to use services.

I have always gone to planned parenthood for my birth control, but I will never go back again. I absolutely refuse to deal with disrespectful mouths of any kind. Ill be damned if I sit there and get questioned and ridiculed by anyone.

Friendly quick and responsive. they take obamacare insurance and a 10 $co pay....got in with no appointment. overall way easier than any other clinic i have been to. thank you pp

Im only giving it one star because I have to. Went through all the hassle of making an appointment to be told that the services I was seeking arent offered at this location. Maybe the actual locations should call and verify a persons appointment if they dont offer everything they say they do on the damn website.

We called to set up an appointment then when we got here they told us they couldn’t see us

Two weeks and counting waiting for test results when I was told five to seven days - no mail, no response to voicemail...nothing. Will not return.

Stay away from this place the put us through unecessary problems with billing and the treatment you receive is just not worth anyone’s time your health is way more important than a cheap price

The protestors outside were really nice to me when I had my baby removed.

I went there around 12pm & the doors were locked! When the door clearly says their open. I dont live close either! So I drove there for nothing!
