Almost hostile on the phone. Seen on the website that vasectomy is offered by planned parenthood but when I called they do not offer it in Iowa or Nebraska, ok fine. But before I could even start a follow up question she said goodbye and hung up on me.
My girlfriend reports very rude treatment by both doctors and front desk personal. She scheduled an appointment for early in the week only to be told once she arrived that the doctor had gone home early. When she was eventually seen later that same week she encountered multiple instances of rude interactions by receptionist and Medical by professionals. Completely unprofessional and disrespectful staff. Glad that the disenfranchised of our community can be seen by such caring and amazing people.Dear Planned Parenthood please address this, because your patients should not be afraid of your staff. You are better than this. Do the right thing.
It was such a great experience going to this Planned Parenthood. All the staff were so welcoming, friendly, and nice. It was such a comfortable atmosphere in there. I had two different appointments and both nurses I had were so kind and made me feel so secure. No matter what, they won’t judge you at all and they definitely reassure you. The nurses who check you in before/after your appointment are also so so friendly and kind. I really highly recommend going here!! Please just give it a try once and don’t be afraid of the reviews.
If this is a healthcare facility why does every fast food restaurant in the state of Iowa have inspection and regulation while this facility has none.Forty Days of Life causes some PPs to close either permanently or temporarily. If they really cared about you would they let political pressure deny you health care. You can do better.I wanted to see if anyone was picketing. There were none. I found the facility to be a little depressing. As you can see in the pictures it’s surrounded by chain-link fence slats in it so that there’s no visibility. I didn’t venture onto the property because I’m afraid of what they do if I ask prolife questions. I hope anybody who’s thinking about going here would find a local crisis pregnancy center and get a free ultrasound before they darken these doors. When this corporation sold two separate buildings in Iowa they breached HIPAA regulations and left confidential patient records behind in cardboard boxes. The Federal government is supposed to enforce this but in over 5 years has failed to act.
A true no judgement zone! I felt comfortable and at ease from the moment I walked in till I left. Not all heroes wear capes ❤️
I receive my HRT here to help my transition from female to male. The staff are incredible, polite, and respectful. Ive never been misgendered or made to feel bad about my choices. They also helped me choose a birth control that works best for me with useful explanations when I had questions and no pressure. The clinic building is definitely a little dated physically. The only uncomfortable part of my visits are just when the annoying protestors outside shout nonsense at me when Im going in for an appointment. Love coming here to recieve care and would recommend it to other trans folks interested in HRT!
Quick and easy online scheduling, warm and friendly staff, answered all my questions without judgement. My visit was also covered with Title X because I dont have insurance. This is an invaluable resource for the area and I highly recommend it!
They did a great job! I walked past those stupid protesters, and when I walked in I checked in and was greeted by a nice receptionist! All of the nurses and doctors there are very nice and helpful! Very colorful and diverse staff! My procedure went well, and they took care of me and made sure I had everything I needed! I feel like they need more funding for Planned Parenthood, as they helped me and everyone who goes there. Whether its std screening, birth control/information, planned parenting, counseling, or abortion, I felt like they really do care. And Id tell them thank you again if I could.
The nurses here are very kind and everyone is very professional. They got me in for an IUD last minute. A lot of the reviews on here are from protestors who are pro-life so obviously the actual rating isn’t accurate. I would seriously recommend them to anyone who needs anything from std testing to an ultrasound.
The Iowa city clinic is over an hour of a drive from my hometown, but I decided to stick with PP because of exceptional service from prior visits. The website information states that the clinic is open at 8am and that walk ins are welcome. When I showed up as a walk in, I was informed by the receptionist that walk ins are not quite welcome and that the clinic doesnt see patients until 1pm. I was bewildered and when I began to ask questions as to why the website provides information that theyre not abiding by, her response was were not that kind of clinic until 1pmI had to make an actual schedule with the clinic and when I followed up the next day the clinician proceeded to give me false information that my insurance covers all or most costs, only to be retold that it does not. The whole front office seems to be devoid of the ability to honestly communicate any information that a patient deems as important. Although my clinician was polite and made me feel at ease, I feel that the receptionist who is an older woman made my whole experience with Planned Parenthood a very negative one based off of her personal opinions that alter her ability to provide decent service to the clinic.
Super nice and friendly staff, made the visit so much more comforting. Kind and caring, and very helpful. Would 10/10 recommend for anyone looking for care. Glad I chose this place :)
I had issues with my insurance, and they went out of their way to help me make sure everything keeps going smoothly for me. highly recommended.
I had made my appointment for 2 PM and arrived 15 minutes early to check in. There was only one other person in the lobby, but I ended up waiting an hour to be shown into a room, only to wait another half hour for the doctor to breeze in and out when I told her I had no questions. I came for a prescription, and had even double checked at the front office that it was sent out to the pharmacy. I went to the pharmacy the next day (Saturday) and I was told that I could not pick up my prescription because it was not signed by the attending physician and was therefore invalid. I was told it was simply state law. Which is fine, but Im frustrated that the staff at this clinic do not seem to know proper protocol concerning writing prescriptions. PP tried to get me to accept their generic at their location, but I had told them that that particular brand has given me bad reactions before and that I would rather go to a different location if it meant getting the brand I am accustomed to. Now I have to wait 2-3 days to see if this will get cleared up, and given the circumstances, it could be worse. But this shouldnt have been an issue in the first place. The doctor should have written the scrip, or at the very least signed the slip before the PA faxed it off.The front office and the PA were really nice and professional, but the wait time for a scheduled appointment during a non-busy part of the day was beyond unacceptable, considering this shouldve been a ten minute appointment.
I went to get my std testing and ask for birth control options . I was late to my appointment so I did a walk in instead ( date :March 28 2016. At the plan parenthood iowa city center .)The lady at the front desk (I believe her name was Lisa ) was very kind to me and helpful . She was very sweet and helped explain any questions I had . I had to fill out alot of paper work but it helped a lot and luckily the services I recived were waived / free .A employee (forgot her name ) also took a sample of my urine and helped explain birth control options . She was really sweet and helped me so much!I would have gave plan parenthood a 4 star rating however because of a very rude woman who did my vaginal exam and took my blood . I am giving them a 3.This woman I believe is named Christina/Christian .She had no manners and even though I was nervous she did not comfort me nor have any compassion in her . To me she seems like someone who hates her job, is snobby and hates interacting with people. The pelvic exam hurt SO MUCH and I was literally in tears but that didnt seem to bother her .Honestly I dont think I will ever go here again . And if I were to go again I most certainly do not want to have Christina or whatever her name is work with me .Other than that plan parenthood is great if you need testing , exams and or birth control options . Youll run into bad people and good .
Horrible front desk service. The first appointment was inconveniently cancelled on me the evening before my appointment. Had to reschedule.. which was more inconvenient due to the fact I was overdue for an appointment because unfortunately a clinician in my area was no longer available. I had to drive to the nearest PP location, which was an hour away. So I get to my appointment n check in. The lady tells me to have a seat n I dont need to fill any paperwork out, that shed call me if she needs anything from me. Typically, waiting 45 mins at these places isnt unusual. But an hour n 15 mins goes by n I start to see other people who got there after me already being called back. Another 30 mins n I see them leaving, yet I have not been helped. At this point I am very agitated n worried. After 2 hrs the lady at the front says maam do u have an appointment? ?!??! So I go up to the window tell her my appointment was 2 hrs ago why havent I been seen yet. She jus says hmmm...while looking at a clipboard n says oh there u are, yep ur on here, shouldnt be too much longer. So I take a seat..again..another 30 MINUTES goes by. Someone calls me to the window n says my insurance isnt covered in Iowa. That was the last drop to tip the bucket. I am not the type of person to cause a scene or be rude but I was pushed to my limits n I jus spilled out my situation n how upset I was. It was completely ridicilulous n incompetent of them to tell me after a 2 n a half hour wait this information, which was false, by the way. I argued that I have been going to an Iowa clinic the past 6 yrs with coverage n this was absurd. How ive already scheduled two appointments n also before my appointment was made my clinic referred me to them, as I am already covered. What am I supposrd to do, where am I supposed to go then? She then tried to say she doesnt know much about other locations or the insurance..n tried to say I can only be seen if i pay $150 out of pocket n that this was a great deal because I was getting 75% off. Like really?? I told her no way. I couldnt pay that n refused to pay when I am covered. I then told her to get someone that knew what they were talking about to help me then. After about 5 mins she came back n told me they would go ahead n see me.. Once I went back into the room the clinicians were very sweet n generous. This was the only good thing I can take away from my visit. They were appalled about my wait n said the front staff must have forgotten about me. They also couldnt understand why they had a problem with my insurance, as it IS covered in IA. Smh. I hope I dont ever have to go there again. Horrible first experience. I pray its my last. One star is an overstatement. Although friendly, very incompetent staff. The clinicians deserve 5 stars
The front desk had a scheduling issue but the physician and nurse made a point to still see me. I appreciate them working with me because I drove from Davenport for my appointment.
One star is still to high of a rating. Lets start with they leave your personal information out in view all weekend and wait a whole month to tell you your information was left out and potentially stolen. If you want to get into more minor things the entrance is hidden behind a dumb fence so unless you know exactly where it is youll likely drive past it.. Also dont go unless you know for sure what birth control you might want. The doctor is in such a hurry shes not that willing to talk with you about what is available and puts you on a pill known for certain side effects after asking you if you have a history of them and you clearly state you do have a long history of certain ones. If you find none of that bothersome though feel free to enter at your own risk. I only went the once and will never go back.
Actual healthcare is good - everything else is a pain to get around. Don’t bother calling because they won’t pick up - front desk seems to be in disarray at all times. I don’t blame them too much, it seems like they’re tragically understaffed - just try to avoid dealing with the front desk as much as possible. Schedule everything online, etc.
Super helpful for my yearly check up as a trans person, super helpful staff, extremely safe and comforting environment
Don’t bother making an appointment, they go in order from the time you walk in. I didn’t get in until over an hour after the time my appointment was scheduled (came in early too) even though there was only 3 people ahead of me, they must only have one doctor on site at a time. Everything else was fine.
Very thankful to have a PP in the area, but the security guard that leaves to smoke cigarettes, bringing back in the stench of smoke all while playing techno off of his computer over the music already playing in the WR needs spoken to. Read the room.
I got STD testing here and I had a great experience. Very kind staff. Would recommend!
I have only ever had gentle and caring staff at this location. Thank you so much for all you do.
Such a great place with kind, wonderful staff. Highly recommend!
Pro life but i like this place almost had a baby
Very helpful and kind staff
All the staff who work there are very friendly. I went to my appointment and they treated me very well. I really like the attention they provide.
