If I could give this doctors office zero stars, I would. I have been a patient here for over 16 years, and the quality of care has steadily gone downhill. From the extreme lack of availability of the providers to the rude front staff, and the lack of communication, this is an office to avoid. The communication is beyond deplorable, and its so difficult to get an appt, by the time you get an opening, its not even worth your time to go, especially since they cancel appts without warning or notice. Highly recommend that everyone stay away from this poor excuse for health care.
DO NOT USE THIS CLINIC!!! DO NOT GO HERE!!If they claim that you own them money and send you to collections they will sue you. The collection agency will then garnish your wages. They do not send out letters saying you own them. You are blindsided by them.Ever since they had new doctors come in they have been inconsistent with their practice and give terrible advice. If they say you owe them even a penny they will refuse to see patients till you pay them. This clinic more concerned about getting paid then treating people.
I dont understand how a clinic can make you wait for longer than 15 minutes to see nurses and physicians but you are 12 minutes late after calling in to let them know you will be running behind, hell breaks loose. they are the only one who have important things going on. I Spent $20 for taxi to make it as soon as possible after waiting 2 months to be seen and no their time is more valuable than patients who have been patiently waiting for 2 months to see their doctors. Very inconsiderate clinic and has the audacity to tell me next appointment is another month of wait time.
The SERIOUS lack of customer service and care at this facility now since Bob and Maddy retired is really quite sad after the amazing practice they built. I was a patient for over a decade and have NEVER experienced anything like it honestly - to not receive a return call (4) or email (last attempt) is bonkers to me - especially when the initial call was made 2 weeks ago. Our family of 6 is more than happy to find a new, closer provider who takes client care seriously.
Started coming here in 2012 when I was 19 and freshly moved to the area. Never had a regular doctor before so it was a weird experience but everyone was super patient with me. Ive gone here a lot for health problems and general upkeep and its never an unpleasant situation. Krista Burns is awesome, very kind and doesnt mind explaining things for me when I ask.
Ive been a patient here for 15+ years and have received quality care, kindness & efficiency. With the recent provider retirements, new management & staff changes, Ive become frustrated. It is extremely difficult to get in for an appointment...about 2 months ahead with my new ARNP (who I love) and a month out for the other providers!! Seriously, this is unacceptable! It was not this difficult previously. This forces patients to go to Urgent Care or even ED for care, which negates the purpose of having a PCP that you trust will be there when you need them for care. It also costs patients more. I DO want to continue my care here, and hope theres a solution to this business model that doesnt seem to be working all that well currently.
Dr. Sairez is incredibly caring and compassionate. She takes the time to answer your questions and listen to your concerns and she really knows her stuff. Best doctor Ive ever had. And the staff that she works with are wonderful as well. I couldnt recommend them more highly.
Love the customer service at the front desk. Ryan was so helpful in getting medical records sent asap do to time sensitivity. Thank you!
My husband Ric and I Pam had previously received care from Maddy and Bob for over 20 years. Then we moved to Bellingham, Wa. We have so missed their excellent care and outstanding knowledge. We will not have a Doctor as our care provider as the other options in health care are so amazing. Take it from us FamilyCare of Kent is the BEST!!!
I had my first visit with Dr. Sairez today, ARNP, she was amazing. I too am a physician, of 35 years, so am very critical of care. From first entering the clinic, the staff was warm, inviting, friendly and caring. Every member of the staff from the front desk to the the MA and Lab Tech were exceptional. This was not your typical corprate office Dr. Sairez, even though quite young, which at first I was concerned about, was incredibly knowledgable, caring and most of all listened. She truely is a gem! I typically reach out to NDs for care, so have not had a typical western medical doc in years, and I have to say these gals are keepers. In addition to being a patient here I will also refer others that I care for to this clinic, as I am a Chiropractor and am always looking for good general practitionars to work with.
Ive simplified my original, detailed review because I dont want to publicly describe a traumatizing experience but I do want others to be aware: I was told, not asked, that a student would be completing a procedure on me and I wasnt given the option to say no. The student (who is not at fault) didnt know her glove size, the correct amount of anesthesia, or how to enter an incision. The doctor oscillated between explaining basic hygiene (now, wash your hands) and not even paying attention (like during the injection of anesthetic). It felt like being a dead frog in a 7th grade classroom. Its also important to me to add that I shared a suspected diagnosis with the doctor and she was very dismissive (with students in the room, which I also did not consent to), even saying why would it even matter for you to be diagnosed. It has since been confirmed and Im receiving support that Ive needed for my entire life.Family Care of Kent contacted me to discuss the procedure. I did not and do not want to talk to them. There are only 3 things I want: (1) Family Care to know that they should require written consent with the explicit option to say no to student procedures and observations, (2) the doctor to know that the diagnosis that she questioned has been confirmed and she lacks education on it, and (3) for potential patients to know the risks at this clinic.EDITED TO ADD: There was no notice during intake that they are a teaching clinic. If that is the case, new patients should be made abundantly clear. Clear, written consent is vital if someone is seeking medical care and not comfortable with being a subject of study. Or a participant in a trainees procedure. Lack of informed consent is even more egregious from a teaching clinic.
Love Madeline D. Wiley - she is great with my son. Its a little hard to communicate with the office but we do love Maddy! Shes been there for my son since he was born. ❤️💚💙
Ive been going to Family Care of Kent for about 7 years now. Bob is terrific and always spends the amount of time I need to feel assured my problems are addressed. He genuinely cares and it shows. He takes the time to fully explain the details of my care and collaborates with me to assure I get the type of care Im looking for. Lisa is also amazing. Shes friendly and always makes me feel welcome when Im roomed. Front office staff is friendly and hard working. Cant say enough positive about this practice.
Coming here for the last 7+ years, always been great nurses and doctors serving me here
Bob and Erica are amazing! So supportive and caring. I have seen bob for 15 years! I’ve seen Maddy a couple times. Every time I have come in for a visit, I have felt well cared for by everyone from the front desk and their greeting to the entire medical staff. I have, and will continue to, recommend Family Care of Kent to everyone!
Bob Smiting at Family Care of Kent is amazing. He really listens and really cares. He makes you feel like when you are talking to him you are the only thing that is important. Erica is so fabulous. She always puts me at ease even when Im feeling anxious. I have been a patient for years and I have started taking my son in to see Bob as well. My son loves his kindness and humor. He really likes the undecided attention too.
Maddy has been my provider for almost 36 years. She always made me feel like I was the only one she saw. Always willing to listen and even joke with. I will miss her now that she has retired but wish her well.
I’ve been going to this clinic for just over a year because a friend referred me. I don’t live close to this clinic but continued going because I trusted my friend’s advice. I’ve had a different nurse practitioner every time I’ve been to this clinic which is not only frustrating but really began to chip away at my confidence by the third new nurse in a year. Just today I had a very important appointment scheduled and made arrangements for babysitting. When I arrived on time they told me my appointment was never on the schedule. I wasn’t sure how this could be possible, as this clinic sends a crazy amount of text, email, and phone call reminders making it nearly impossible to forget about an appointment. I told the receptionist to please double check and showed her my appointment reminder email and text messages. She asked me my first and last name and I told her and still she could not find anything. My doctor was booked that day and they couldn’t get me in until the following day. They seemed to not care at all that this huge inconvenience of a scheduling error on their part was now my responsibility. I booked the appointment for the next day, but called back later to cancel because I found a new doctors office. When I called to cancel, the woman confirmed and read my first and last name to me. I then realized the error was that the clinic had booked my original appointment with my maiden name and that’s why the receptionist thought I was not in the schedule. Not sure how this happened as every other appointment I have booked with my married name. The most frustrating part is that I should have been seen today and I really did have an appointment, but due to lack of common sense and a different name on the schedule, I now have to make very inconvenient changes. Even more frustrating is that when the receptionist booked my new appointment for tomorrow she would have seen the same name that was on the schedule. I can’t imagine how much more frustrating this would be for someone who has to take time off work to make time for the doctors and for them to get there and say they never even had an appointment! I understand this was a simple mistake on the receptionists part, but unfortunately this will be my last visit with Family Care of Kent. I’ve heard wonderful things about the couple that own the clinic but last I checked they aren’t taking new patients. I hate to leave a bad review but I feel this is something people should know before they go.
Not only does Bob Smithing go above and beyond for his patients, but his MA Erica does too. They are a great team and both very knowledgeable and always helpful! The front office staff are always upbeat and professional. You can feel and see that they love what they do, and I love it. I recommend Family Care of Kent to everyone!
Ive seen Bob, Maddy, and Spencer (one of these is my primary PCP) and they have all been fantastic! Ive been a patient here along with my family for ten years and cant imagine a more caring and hard working team. I also enjoy knowing that by allowing student nurses to participate in my care, Im contributing to the next generation of quality health care providers.
Ive seen a few providers there and really liked them. They listened and were open about treatment plans and care. The staff, though. My new patient visit had me waiting 15 minutes in the waiting room (but I was early and pulled back on time, so no complaints there) listening to one of the medical assistants trash talk her coworker who had called in. Someone else up front was doing so as well. It was one of the most awkward moments I have ever experienced.Ive also had a few confusing moments on the phone with the front office. Once I was told I couldnt schedule an appointment with a different provider, but with no explanation as to why. That was the only day I was available due to my own schedule (which the receptionist knew) and even though I asked, I was never given an answer. Were all the other providers busy? Am I just required to see my original provider except for urgent visits? WHO KNOWS. I wasnt upset, just a little put off. Communication would have been nice. This office is located less than five minutes from my home. It would have been a GREAT location for myself and my husband. Im going to head somewhere else though, strictly because of my experiences with the front and back office staff.
I give this office 5 stars and up. Ive been coming here to see Maddy Wiley for over 10 years. Her and other doctors here take the time to talk and help you feel better. I love the themed rooms. Front office ladies always pleasant and upbeat and efficient!! 🤗
I have mixed feelings about Family Care Of Kent. While the people Ive seen there over the last 18 months have generally been pretty good, their communication skills leave a lot to be desired. They communicate ONLY through My Chart. I dont get e-mails when a message is posted, so I have NO WAY of knowing they are sending me messages. How hard is it to pick up the phone and CALL a patient? Or send a text if you really dont want to actually TALK to them. Ive had two issues now with prescriptions and lack of communication. This last time I went to pick up my prescription on a Friday night that was sent in on Wednesday morning just to be told its not ready as it needs a pre-authorization. On Monday I called the clinic just to find out that the pre-authorization has not yet been requested. Arabelle Estrada apparently doesnt work on Thursday and Friday, so the pharmacy request for authorization just sat there for two days being ignored by every one else. Its now 3PM on Monday and it still hasnt been handled. By the time my insurance approves it, it will have been well over a week just to get a basic prescription. Time to find an actual doctors office.
I have seen my doctor Bob Smithing for many years now and I am more than happy! I am a college student at WSU so my schedule is difficult to maneuver around but the receptionists and my doctor always make it happen! My sister and I (both college students) feel completely comfortable when discussing any personal or health issues with our doctor and it is always wonderful knowing that they are there to help. They work with your insurance and many other coupon options to help you afford the care you need. I can always count on this practice to keep me not only healthy but happy.
Ive been going to this office for about 5 years now and I hate it there. My doctor is always busy and its so hard to get an appointment, it takes weeks to months to get in for somthing simple. Certain doctors dont work on certain days so YOU have to plan your schedule around THEM. I also feel like they do not care about their patients and only care about the money. Truly the worst doctors office ever.Especially Madeline Wiley, she is truly the worst Doctor ever, extremely judge mental, and always puts a religious view on things, never available, and never spends more then 5-10 minutes with a patient. They prescribed me diffetent asthma medication that Ive never taken without telling me they were different from my current inhalers, explaining the differences/similarities to my current ones, and once I asked questions the doctors stopped replying. This is so illegal I have considered filing a formal legal complaint.Im a nursing assistant and know what care is supposed to be. This is really the worst place ever. I would give a 0 if I could. Dont be fooled by the themed rooms and peppy girls at the front desk.
This review is for Nurse Erica. She gave my not-quite-3-year-old daughter her first of two flu shots, and she made it so easy! She was so quick that my little one barely had a second to register the pain before Erica handed her a lollipop! Erica even brought her a few stickers for behaving so well, and my kiddo was delighted! And now we dont have to dread shot #2 next month. Erica also gave me my flu shot in early September, and shes great with adults too :). Thanks for what you do, Erica!
We’ve been using this clinic on a regular basis from the last 4 years as our primary care doctor. Very experienced doctors, such a great and nice receptionists. Dr Kristen burns and Dr Butler are awesome and beyond anyone’s expectations. I strongly recommend this clinic for friends and anyone who needs medical care.
Several years ago I searched for a PCP that focused on some specific health concerns of mine. Robert Smithing and Maddie Wiley specialized in those issues. Im very grateful for their counsel as they have helped me to greatly improve my health. The staff is friendly and efficient, their location is convenient with easy parking and I highly recommend Family Care of Kent.
These starts are for your new member Spencer Rizk. For 10 years I was told I had fibromyalgia and he saved my life by helping find what is really wrong with me. I left a doctor to go with him. My kids and I were all seen by him. His care was the best care I’ve had to date. I’m sad he left me but this group is very luck to get such an amazing new addition. I high recommend him for anyone looking for new care.
Ive now been going to Family Care of Kent about a decade, and take my own son there as a new mom. They are all very thorough in ensuring we get the best medical care possible, and they always thoughtful about me and my son as people, considerate about how medical decisions can be confusing or scary. If I call early and its an urgent issue, they can always see us the same day- which is a relief when you have a sick baby. I absolutely trust Family Care of Kent, and cant imagine going anywhere else for me or my family.
2 star is being generous. I am a fairly new patient and so far Im thinking of finding a different office that cares more. I have needed medical advice to manage pain and was told the nurse was going to get back with me. So far every time its been hours later. And this last time I needed advice they still havent called a week later. I ended up just going to urgent care who has even called to see how Im doing. Not very good patient care for a primary care.
I had incredible medical care from dr smithing. Yes, he tends to run late. Yes, it’s very hard to get calls back and you’re better off just making another appt to speak to him. But he has incredible personal warmth, really cares about his patients, and has a great sense of humor. I had to move out of state and am very sad he is no longer by pcp . Thank you dr smithing !!!
Erica is the most amazing certified medical assistant she is so personable and charisamatic . Bob Smithing is a lifesaver in my bipolar life 10 nervous breakdowns he has managed to bring me into normality i love him....
My husband and I are traveling in a few weeks and need to get some vaccines. We called and told them what vaccines we needed. They tried to make an appointment for a consultation for three weeks out and take a down payment. It was weird that they didn’t confirm they had the vaccines or explain what a “consultation” was so we pressed the issue. They eventually admitted they didn’t have the vaccines we needed. We would have waited 3 weeks for nothing, lost our money, and not had enough time to get the shots before leaving. I normally don’t leave bad reviews but this was downright shady.
Literally love this clinic. I’ve been looking for a care provider for years and i referred by a family member and Couldn’t ask for better care. They meet all my needs promptly. Any concerns Ive had get met with immediate attention. Thank you doctor bob
This review is for my new provider, Spencer at FamilyCare of Kent. Being a healthcare provider myself, I truly appreciated the level of care, empathy and compassion that Spencer shows his patients. He makes sure to answer all of your questions and provided me with his direct email so I can get in touch with him.
Altering my review, and dropping it to a one star. Since writing my previous review. The actions of this location are just horrible. Confirmed that during your time there if you disagree with this location. It will result with you being treated unfairly.Additionally if you express discomfort to the doctors about an opinion they have, or a answer they give you. You are guilted with the more horrible thoughts and ideas from the doctor, and putting you in a situation where you are feeling horrible to agree with them, or they will just discontinue all services.I originally loved this location, and it felt like one of those rare small town doctor locations. In truth its not worth it.If you feel uneasy about what your being told, or feel treatment isnt working with them. Dont be guilted or bullied if you want to see someone of your OWN choice for a second opinion, or feedback on stuff.
Have been seeing Maddy since I was a small girl. She now is MY sons primary physician and we absolutely adore her! Clean office, friendly staff :)
I googled and read reviews before I selected this office so I figured Id review as well. The entire staff is very friendly & responsive to messages on the mychart app. Maddy is the dr I chose & she is great!!
Have been a patient of Maddy’s for over 20 years and even though we have moved out of the area we still trek over from the Peninsula to get exams and treatments. Highly recommend.
I was there and get taken care faster with courtesy and rapidly ! I will recommend people to book an appointment before
My entire family has been coming here for years. We see Bob and Maddy, both greats PCPs. We love Family Care of Kent!
Small office with a lab with great providers and staff!
This group of NPs really listen & truly care about each patient individually....we commute 25 miles each way because there amazing!
Bob is the best medical provider I have ever had! I left for a bit but I am back and never leaving again!
The lady at the front desk is always rude and has a horrible attitude. Dont go here unless you want a bad experience and get treated poorly.
All the ladies up front and all the doctors are amazing. Would highly recommend!
They have been absolutely great! My whole family goes there. Susan Mitchell is fantastic!
Erica and Dr burns are great duo. I felt like they actually cared about me and my issuesThank you
DONT go to this doctors office if u have any type of pain or diabetes or illness Ive seen two doctors here including Roberts smithing and my family has came here in the past they will not give u any help or feel bad in any way if u wanted the truth here it is
My appreciation goes to the nurse practitioner Monah for her compassion, optimism and kindness.
I got over charged for services i didn’t even get. talked and then got sent away. nothing was checked, horrible service, will not attend here any longer.
Not the very best or friendly front desk people not professional at all.
Do not trust this place with your children. Also expect bills a year after your visit. Total mess
This place is the best, My niece has been going here for years and they are very experienced with disabilities.. 💖💙💚❤️
Over charged my daughter for a service she never received and treated her like everything was in her head.
It’s wonderful to have a PCP LIKE MUNA. Thankyou so much for helping us.
Good please to take care about your health
In one hour no body call to visit doctor very slow
Bob is super amazing.
