In the last four years, I have had four procedures at the Surgery Center. Great care by Surgery Center & Othopedic Clinic staff and primary care physician. Why a three star rating? A series of less than acceptable experience at Unitys Pain Care Center.Heres the details:Dr. Bigler? Great to work with. Staff? Another story altogether.Have found it difficult dealing with staff. Have stood at the counter to check in for 5+ minutes and not even acknowledged. Have had several times when staff committed to call to schedule or confirm an appointment, but didnt. Most recently, I had an appointment scheduled more than three months Iin advance. Received a call from staff the day before, telling me that my appointment would need to be canceled because they had not yet gotten pre-approval for the procedure. When I asked why I was being notified the day before and they wouldnt provide me with a alternative appointment, I was told that it was because I had only scheduled the appointment the day prior - when in fact the office had called to change my appointment due Dr. Bigler having surgery at the same time. Call it negligence, ignorance, or gas lighting; i dont need any of the three. The staff dropped the ball, then canceled and refused to acknowledge their mistake. Staff refused to commit to rescheduling or to give me a timeframe for approval. As someone with severe pain, the procedure has been the one thing that works. Now, Im forced either wait until they get pre-approval or find another doctor. I have done everything recommended by Dr. Bigler and been able to avoid psychotropic medications.I need a care provider on which I can rely. Dr. Bigler has been great. Staff and experiences such as this are not acceptable. This mistake - at the end of the calendar year - could cost our family several thousand dollars (due to resetting of our insurance out of pocket maximum on January 1).I am very disappointed. While waiting to see if anyone calls back, I will begin the process of finding another provider.
As far as the surgeon we worked with, he was wonderful. However, beware that Unitys entire billing department is horrible. They wont combine bills between the offices and each office or department that you work with wants a minimum due. When talking to the billing department about a payment plan, they dont work with you easily and just want their money. We paid over $2k to the surgery department up front for an emergency surgery. When the post operation bills started rolling in, I called to set up a payment plan. All the bills we received have the same account number on them. The billing department did not explain that even though the account number is the same, we have to make separate payments per office. They only set us up with a payment plan for one bill but not the other, making it past due. Then a few months later we get a letter saying that we have not made payments and are going to collection. We have been paying Unity each month according to our payment plan, but according to them it doesnt count because it is a different office. What a sham to have Unity as a name of a company when your billing department is not even united. Because of the emergency surgery, we also have bills with the emergency room and a few other companies. Every other company I have worked with is helping me the best they can, knowing in an emergency lots of bills come in, but when I called Unity to follow up, the billing lady just kept asking how much am I going to pay and she wouldnt work with me to adjust the payment plan until I totally broke down on her. Honestly, I feel sorry for all the great doctors at Unity because I will never work with them again because of their billing department. UNITY AS A COMPANY ONLY CARES ABOUT THE MONEY, NOT THE PEOPLE!
While everyone who did my colonoscopy was wonderful once Unity got paid by my insurance I have yet to hear anything about my colonoscopy results and its been about two months. Plus, while the medical staff at the doctors office I use are great the business staff and receptionist are very uncaring and dont give a flying toot about your concerns. To them your a dollar source only and otherwise an inconvenience and a nuisance. I have been dissed three times now and I let the other two slide. Not this time. So three strikes and your out. I will be using my wifes medical facility and practitioner in Camden now. They are on top of things and have caring customer service agents. Not bean counters. I called their number and got a recording not a person. So that proves they dont give a hoot about people.
Not satifised with the treatment. As long as for my case, not professional. Failed to put cast on me properly. End in having surgery somewhere else. Well, easy appointment but awkward treatment. Not negotiable payment. No response from patient satisfactory.
Dr. Highhouse almost killed my mom. Negligence and trying to hide an infection after a surgery in 2019 caused her to have a stroke, and multiple other extreme health issues until fall of 2021. Someone FINALLY looked at her leg and realized she had a raging infection where he worked on and tried his best to hide her infection with multiple surgeries to try and get the wound to close. Other doctors put her on antibiotics since her white count was elevated. It was just enough for her body not to give out, but when she was near death someone finally figured it out and saved her life. Now, she has a chronic infection that infections disease has under control but will come back. And will keep coming back thanks to him and your negligent staff. 0 stars. He knows what he did, trying to cover it up during a time your hospital was already under investigation for other surgical infections. INSANE
After I found out my doctors suggestion I have surgery to keep from possible permanent paralysis I took two months going through my insurance provider directory found this doctor here in Lafayette then my rheumatologist spoke with this office and faxed my information over. This office then called me and schedule an appointment confirming the information they were given from my doctor .After an hour drive that causes pain and 45 minutes filling out paperwork I was then informed they had to cancel my appointment because they were under the impression somebody told them that I had a different Insurance and this neck injuries was a work-related problem. Next Ill probably get a bill in the mail for a canceled appointment not 24 to 48 hours in advance. Quality Care in its finest now another hour drive back to my town in the amount of pain tingling and unfortunately numbness down the left side of my body that I did not have to endure by making this drive do we turn to weigh when your office has misleading or worse in correct information through medical provider directory booklets. All the way around didnt even see a doctor and have had the worst experience Ive had from a doctors office in far too long.
I’ve had two procedures with Dr. Daluga, knee meniscus and hip replacement. Both times I was treated courteously and my surgeries were successful. I’ve been very happy with the service provided by Unity.
I have always had a great group of woman and men each time I go there. I have been having epidurals 😵💫 for a while now. Great staff. Would not go anywhere else.
Sat and waited for a procedure that I didn’t want to get in the first place to made to wait.
Just had a hip replacement surgery done. Doctors and all the staff is top notch. Very very impressed with my experience. Highly recommend Unity!
On my first visit with Dr. A. Ansari, D.P.M., my left foot was in excruciating pain, so much, that felt that I felt it should be cut off, and my right foot should be broken and reset. However, once she and her Nurse, Julie went through my numerous test, her solution to this all were, cut toe tails, a shot in each foot and a boot on my left foot for three months. Also, wear the boot whenever my foot builds up pressure in order to relieve it. Once the boot came off, Ive been making three month visits to Dr. Ansari for shots in both feet. These shots💉 are simply amazing in my feet since the summer of last year, and the pain in my feet from my first visit to date, would run from a 10 to a 5, which is simply remarkable... I mean simply remarkable, and thats no ghost story!!!. Dr. A. Ansari, and Nurse, her Julie are the that ones that shall truly heal the pain in your feet, regardless of how much, titanic and/or excruciating it may be. Dr. A. Ansari, D.P.M. shall forever be my Podiatrist until I leave this state this or next year, and why? Because thats just how good she is with her sterling service, warm bedside manner, blue chip respect and responsibilities, high professionalism with protocol and that of being that of cockpit qualified. I say to all readers, should you need an expert Podiatrist, and you want your feet from excruciating pain slowly healing back to their selves. Than be certain that you make an appointment with Dr. Asiya Ansari, D.P.M., whereas your foot problems shall cease forthwith. I thank you Dr. Ansari for each and every Sicilian second of relief of excruciating pain inwhich you gave me. You, Dr. Ansari, are a Podiatrist, of any and all, Podiatrist. I thank you titanically Dr. Ansari, for your professionalism and with protocol, Im deeply appreciative.
I dont know who hires their employees but very few of them actually know what they are talking about or care about the patients. They would rather hire friends and family then people who have actual experience and god forbid you bother them by checking on your application, they throw you off everything you apply for after you call, they send you e-mails that do not list the position you are no longer being considered for, there is a total lack of empathy, care or business acumen. No one there knows anything about insurance or even what the office takes. I tried to make an appointment and the girl on the phone admitted she didnt know what I was talking about as far as my insurance being taken in the office, really.
I came for simple congestion and a cough. They made me wait in the office an hour when nobody else was here. The doctor was in and out in literally less than 2 minutes. Every time Im here, the lazy doctors and nurses take FOREVER to do ANYTHING. Also, I wrote this while STILL WAITING.
I had cataract surgery this summer and the doctor and staff were absolutely fantastic. I always use Unity physicans and I have always been treated with kindness and respect. Thank you for your care.
Jan in the billing department is quite insensitive! Talking to people like she is superior and uncaring!! Sadly, she isnt the only person Ive encountered there with this problem. They like to send bills and threaten before insurance has even had a chance to pay them! I would like to give that department zero stars!!
Dr Burgett did my cataract surgery. All my experience was positive and I couldnt have been happier once I could see again. I liked seeing my doctor at Unity and using the Unity outpatient surgery center.
I had 2 total knees done and stayed over one night. I was treated like a queen never had to wait for help one time. The Doctors hear are Excellent. Would highly recommend.
My wife has been in extreme pain for months they finally did an ultrasound of her gulbladder and its been a week and still havent given us results or even told us how she can help the pain weve called everyday and no matter what cant speak with noone #inpain #medicalmalpractice
I was recently diagnosed with breast cancer. I have had several test, surgery and consultations with other doctors for up coming treatments.I have gotten the best care anyone could ask for.Everyone has been very kind and compassionate.
Had a procedure done by Dr. Daluga. The whole staff was very friendly, and courteous, highly recommend. They even tied my shoes for me when I was getting ready to leave.
I was referred to Unity Health by my PCP I had seen Dr.Lai I waited over an hour in the waiting room to be seen for 4 seconds and him to tell me nothing can be done... He wouldnt listen to what I had to say whatsoever and was extremely rude
Enforcing mask rules in late 2022 is absurd. Why not make everyone wear gloves and a raincoat? If you want to wear one because youre afraid then wear one why make everyone wear them?
Waited at an appointment for family member. When said appointment was over, receptionist violated their privacy. Family member or not, I am not entitled to know any details about ANYTHING, correct?
Im not sure who to complain to but whoever works for the switchboard and worked this evening... First off all I dont appreciate you being rude and hanging up when I have a question? Im sorry if you are having a bad day... I will not be treated like that again and if so I will be going to your boss....
This people don’t provide any type of help for low income patients. I’m very disappointed.
Most of the staff here is rude from my experience
The breast center is very kind.
Always quick and precise.
Had Dr app there
Waiting room was full
