Dr Tobias was nice, and addressed my concerns, however when going for my blood draw, there was blood all over the chair from the previous patient and accidentally sat my hand in it. When I told the nurse, she tried to play it off, told me the previous patient was Drinking a slurpee.

Do not go here if you have any serious health concerns. First of all Dr. Mata not one time called in a prescription to the pharmacy. Every single time I had to call back, usually multiple times to get my prescriptions called it. She also never ordered blood tests that she told me were critical. The referral department is completely useless. I have PPO insurance and they wouldn’t give me a referral for an MRI because they said I could go anyplace I liked since I had PPO insurance. So I went to an MRI place and they wouldn’t give me the MRI because I didn’t have doctors orders which tells them what to do. When I called APLA they told me again about my PPO insurance. Finally after two weeks and speaking with the office manager I got them to help me. Finally they told me I had to go for a PET CT scan which is used to detect cancer. It took a month for them to send the referral and when they did they sent it to a place that doesn’t do PET CT scans. I called and left a voicemail for the referral dept because they’re way too busy to answer the phone. After waiting two days for a callback I called the office manager again and gave them the phone number to the place that does the scan. I’m glad I only have cancer because if I had something more serious I would probably be deaddo not go here. The place is filled with incompetence and stupidity.

The folks at APLA Health are angels. Most places that work with the under-insured tend to be pretty jaded or are impossible to get ahold of. But APLA is the exact opposite. They really care about all of their patients.I can make appointments in reasonable time and they even have a whole department dedicated to getting patient’s insurance sorted out. I had to switch insurance for a surgery I needed but Medi-Cal was making it difficult for me. Shout out to Hyme at the Olympic Location for advocating on my behalf! It made the process so much easier on me and I don’t think I could’ve gotten the switch I needed without him.I also never feel unsafe or invalidated as a transgender person at APLA. My gender identity is respected and validated there which is so hard to come by at other doctor’s offices or clinics. Dr. Mata is awesome. She actually listens and takes any health concerns or questions seriously. The nurses/staff are all very patient too.Seriously, this organization is a godsend.

Arthur V. did not request gender-affirming hormone replacement therapy on the first appointment like three other providers did. I was patient and did a second appointment. And then he didnt show up for just about a half-hour. Also, should Christopher B. be a therapist?

The staff in the referral approval department have no reading comprehension skills other than their superiors. I recommend finding another doctor.Referral department staff have no reading comprehension. Only their supervisor does. I reccomend you find another medical provider aside from this office.
