Absolutely awful. You wait on hold 30-45 mins everytime you need to call. Leave a voicemail, no return call. Critical appointments cannot be accommodated (tests needed at a certain point in cycle and no appointment or only one option mid day). I’ve been pushed out 2 months now due to their schedule. They have zero empathy. Shady grove billing dept is a nightmare so I was hoping to Hopkins would be better but I’ll be going back to SGF. Hopkins should be embarrassed their name is tied to this clinic.
My husband and I had a wonderful experience with Johns Hopkins Fertility. Dr. Hinton specifically is a phenomenal doctor and surgeon. She is incredibly thorough and kind, she always answered all our questions and put our minds at ease. It was discovered that I had endometriosis during this process which was a huge shock, but Dr. Hinton assured me it was going to be ok and she did an amazing job with the surgery to remove it. She is very skilled in endometriosis excision surgery. We ended up needing to do IVF and they made the whole process very straightforward and manageable. The entire staff here was always so nice and helpful - we are very grateful to have this level of care so close to home!
I have gone to Dr. Hinton to help conceive both of my children. She always takes my opinion into consideration when making health care decisions, which is very difficult to find in a doctor. I always felt respected as an individual and as a healthcare worker myself. The nurses were all very kind and the phlebotomists were top notch. Would recommend to a friend.
Dont come here to get pregnant. It feels like a factory and the bedside manner of Dr. Zacur is unbelievably rude. He got mad because I switch doctors because of his nasty attitude and because they let anyone who is on call work on you, he told me my fallopian tubes were blocked and walked out the room. After seeing my new doctor we find out they werent blocked at all. He also asked me in front of everyone if I had insurance, knowing that if I didnt they give you a big red folder. Lastly, Dr. Zacur used my last egg without it reaching blastocyst. When I tried to get them to correct their mistake, he accused me of trying to get a free transfer. Unbelievable. Shame on you doctor Zacur. I just wanted to be a mom. You too Dr. Christianson.
Dr Baker and Dr. Hinton are lively and were able to get us pregnant. Nurses also nice. There can occasionally be communication issues but they try very hard to resolve any issues that arise, and those things are true of every clinic Ive been to. Many of the clinics with only positive reviews may be getting negative reviews removed. Dont be afraid to ask questions and be comfortable with the protocols. Dr. Baker in particular has been great about letting us make informed choices.
We switched to Johns Hopkins from Shady Grove and had a way more positive experience. We met with Dr. Christianson who took extra time in our first appointment to explain all the tests we had already done and what our next steps would be, something Shady Grove rushed through in a less than 15 minute appointment. All of the providers we met through the course of our treatment were compassionate and always took the time to answer our questions. Some reviews complained about office staff and getting through on the phone. We never had that issue and we’re always able to reach someone and all the staff were professional and kind. We are so grateful we switched to Johns Hopkins fertility. We would give them a 5 but there were some factors not totally in control of the clinic that did change our experience. During your monitoring visits there is always a wait, which I understand it’s a time sensitive visit and people can’t exactly wait for the next available. But just be prepared to wait and for the appointment to take longer than expected. Also the financial counselor we’re very backed up. This did not directly effect our treatment as we were paying out of pocket. However, I could imagine this impacting people getting prior authorization and delaying treatment. It’s possible those needs are prioritized and thus why our less time sensitive needs took longer to be addressed. Finally, we were required to use Johns Hopkins labs for treatment so they could get the results same day. Unfortunately our insurance did not cover the laboratory and our labs ended up being the most expensive part of treatment.Overall we would say our experience was incredibly positive and would absolutely go back should we need further fertility treatment. The most important thing for us was having knowledgeable and compassionate care and we received that and more. The other factors are just things for people to be aware of if choosing Johns Hopkins fertility for care.
Ive never seen such incompetence and negligence. I wouldnt recommend seeing Dr. Zacur or Dr. Cross. I would give 0 stars if possible. Its a shame the fertility center at Johns Hopkins does not live up to the top-notch level of care typically associated with the Johns Hopkins name. Do not go here! You are seriously wasting your precious fertility hours, days, and years if you seek treatment here that you cannot get back.
I am very disappointed with my treatment at this clinic. First, I never saw the attending that was in charge of my case in person and the many many fellows that I saw were often unprepared when they came into my room. It was obvious that they never looked at the charts and rushed me through most of my procedures. Second, when it was clear that a procedure did not work and neither the fellows nor the attending caught it, they tried to blame me. I often had to review my own labs and call things to their attention. Lastly, I stopped going to appointments and no one called to check to see if I was still alive. This was not the treatment I expected from a clinic with the Hopkins name behind it. I feel sorry for the women without medical knowledge that attending this clinic because they will not know what to ask or look for
While i did experience some delay in scheduling my first appointment (during COVID), everything after that was first class. All the doctors and nurses have been professional, knowledgeable and kind. They took the time to explain each step in detail to help my husband and me make informed decisions. The use of the Mychart app is phenomenal, and gives me direct access to ask questions to my doctors and nurses through messaging, and my messages are always answered within hours.
I can honestly say, I have not had one bad experience. Everyone from Drs, nurses, front desk to financial has been absolutely amazing. And 100% kinder and understanding then many I delt with at Shady Grove. Dr Cameron is amazing and so is her staff. Thank you to you all.
I believe there are doctors there who mean well but collectively their program is a mess. They have you schedule your ultrasounds but even if you are coming from a distance, they are never usually on time, and never have the later appointments available and you always end up waiting. My most recent issue has to do with embryos that I had transferred to their location. I was originally working with the Fertility Center of Maryland and had embryos transferred to their lab after the doctors at FCMD retired and closed their facility. On the day of the transfer I was advised that three of the four embryos which we had stored for over a year did not make it, we have never had any issues with FCMD prior to this. I was advised by Hopkins lab after an hour long meeting (weeks later) that the tube was not properly sealed by FCMD causing the embryos to not make it. We submitted a case with Hopkins Patient relations requesting to be made whole for the embryos lost and receive a notice from them that would not consider our request. We have advised then that at this point it is only word of mouth that the embryos have been damaged under the care of FCMD. We were a former patient of Hopkins many years ago and the program is much different now, the billing department are some of the most rude human beings I have ever been exposed to. We asked them for assistance with paying over time and they advised us that if we did not pay the full amount for the services, they would cancel our transfer, we ended up prepaying for the services and had to have our credit card put a hold on the account after we found out our embryos didnt survive. This is our final straw with them. I do not think they do any investigative research as to what your fertility issues truly are just have you keep going through transfers. There is so much more to our story but I would definitely stay away from Hopkins Fertility program, they are a learning program at your expense!!!
I am currently 34 weeks pregnant with a Johns Hopkins IVF baby after struggling for years with unexplained infertility. The entire team at Hopkins is exceptionally well trained, nice, and receptive to questions/concerns. It is an academic instution so there are residents and fellows learning about the specifics of REI, but that also gave me the opportunity to ask questions, as teaching both patients and trainees is of the utmost priority. I left each appointment feeling confident that the plan developed for me was one that I understood completely, and was individualized and evidence-based.
Horrible Horrible!!! Bed side manner for Dr Howard is terrible. He rushes through appointments, has no warmth or hope like a robot treating you. Also they spring last minute appointments on you that delay the process…..I literally told them I’m depressed about this and got no response. This place only wants your money! Oh and let’s not forget on my appointments he is always late considering it’s virtual and he will read your file while you there….Unprofessionally!
Should of came here before calling. I called to schedule a consultation and was immediately rejected, said that my partner would need to call to schedule the consultation.
Terrible egg retrieval experience. I was hopeful we would have a positive experience despite all the negative reviews but I was very wrong. Before starting a second cycle, we did research and have switched to Montgomery Fertility Clinic. We know were in good hands now.
They are by far the worst fertility clinic out there. The broke three vials that contained embryos and did not tell my fiance until the day of the transfer. The embryos did not survive. They had the vials for over a year and then all of a sudden they discover the vials being broke? Come on get out of here. We have had two unsuccessful transfers because of them. They should be sued for malpractice. They tried pinning the broken vials they received on a company that doesnt exist anymore. All to try and cover their behinds. Dont choose them. They will only waste your time, money, effort and leave you disappointed in the end. Trust me dont go here please. You will regret it if you do.
I never made the appointment. The person who answered the phone, most likely not a doctor, told me that because of my age (46 y.o.), my only option is egg donor. She never asked me if I have menses, or took a blood sample to check my AMH, FSH, etc (hormonal panel). My chief complaint had to do with few changes that I wanted to address from the endocrinology point of view. The diagnosis for this place is FAILED. Truthfully, I doubt that the person who answered the phone had the legal authority to give such medical opinion without a consultation in person. The last thing a woman needs in such stressful times, is to be even more unappreciated for her efforts that keep these clinics in business.
It has a clean environment with Doctors and Nurses so attentive to listen to you and put a smile on your face. God blessed you all mightily . I appreciate all my visits and I want to thank you all for taking good care of me.
Unresponsive to a process that is time-sensitive. Some staff are pleasant, however, the entire program needs revamping for better productivity.
I wish I could put 0 stars!!! Johns hopkins is only good for research and science .... everything else johns hopkins is the worst , ER, Clinics , work, service, etc. Everything is just terrible !!!
Everyone has been super nice. They are quick to respond to mychart messages.
Ive given them eight calls over the last three weeks to schedule an appointment. All of them went straight to voicemail, and I havent gotten a single call back.
@ The Golden Rule - we had the same exact issue as you. We would like to get in touch with you if possible; if you see this, please reply here.
I have been trying to schedule an appointment for over a month. No one ever answers the phone. Left several voicemails. No call back.
Terrible experience dont waste your money and time .
They do not care abt you!
