I would give zero stars if I could. The nursing team is a disgrace. I thought endless hormone shots, pregnancy loss, the financial burden, and multiple rounds of IVF would be the most stressful parts. I was wrong. The most stressful part is dealing with the nursing staff.Response to note from owner below: Boston IVF was started in 2008. If youre still working on your goal to reach quality patient care you should be embarrassed.
Dr. Lannon and the Nursing Staff in Portland are amazing! They made us feel so comfortable and we learned a lot in just one visit. My only complaint is the Finance/Insurance Staff. I told them multiple times that I have a customer service job that requires me to be on the phone all day and requested that we schedule a specific date and time to discuss insurance. They never attempted to help me schedule a call and never replied to the email I sent them with my availability. Given the emotional and time sensitive nature of this process, having a more flexible and accommodating Finance Staff would have given them 5 stars.
I love it here. The people are kind and caring. Its almost been a year since Ive began this journey and its been difficult. I finally got pregnant with my son only to miscarry him. The nurses were sympathetic. I only wish they had a support group or outreach that I could have been referred to after my loss. I am continuing to go through them to help get pregnant. Praying and staying faithful!
Dr. Lannon was incredibly knowledgeable about the IVF/IUI process. He answered all of our questions and alleviated much of the anxiety that we have about this process. I had previously had a bad experience with another IVF/IUI doctor and felt defeated and incredibly depressed about the whole thing. Dr. Lannon was able to not only make me feel comfortable, but ensured me that we stood a decent chance of finally conceiving a baby. He treated my husband and I with respect and was not focused on the details that would make it hard for us to conceive.
Wasn’t going to say anything but since they keep asking me to review here I go! I recently had a baby girl through IVF at the south Portland office. I’m obviously happy with the results but the process getting there was awful. Dr. Lannon was great, but some of the nurses were awful and not empathetic at all. One nurse yelled at me because my email was my maiden name and she refused to open the email until I called. I was never able to get through on the phone, no answering service which resulted in missed cycles. Very poor communication. I also felt like just another number to them. I had specialized instructions from a nurse for after care from a procedure and yet I was still handed the generic after care form and no one could seem to find what I was talking about in my chart. Overall if there was another IVF center in Maine I would go there.
South Portland location- Boston IVF initially felt like a great place to work with, as we were so excited we finally made it to the step of meeting with a specialist after 2 years of looking for answers. After our first IUI communication started really lacking. It was extremely difficult to get in touch with the nursing and office staff by phone or email. When we started cycle 2 the ball was completely dropped by having no communication from the nursing staff. This led to us missing that IUI all together and put our hopes off for another month after completing all the medication, payment and communication on our end. They made an extremely emotional and stressful situation much worse. I called the Waltham, MA location after this display of lack of patient care and they recommend the Bedford, NH location. We met with Dr. Wright the following week and have since been in her care. The communication, thoroughness and compassion have been a world of difference. We are so appreciative we found the Bedford, NH clinic. No one from the S. Portland location ever reached out to find out why we were no longer patients or to apologize for the missed cycle. I hope this saves someone the heartache it caused us!
I had my son in 2022 after being in the care of Dr. Lannon and nurse Tiffany. The first cycle I didnt know what to expect in terms of timing being of the essence and things did get pushed back a little from a lack of understanding. Once that was resolved we went for a second cycle and unfortunately out of the two only had one PGT embryo we could freeze. Upon transferring the staff were accommodating and drew the injection site for my husband and modeled the injections. Aside from the medication costs the majority was luckily covered by insurance. Waltham has personnel at the front desk that need to change their attitude but all in all very informative, thorough, and supportive. The draw backs are the access to timely communication. I can no longer email my nurse and the phone systems seem to be down often (Waltham issue) and the only way to speak directly to the nurse is wait for them to call you when they can. It doesnt help when youre a teacher and cannot discuss these things in front of minors. We try another cycle for another embryo this year. Good luck to all 🤞
Strongly do not recommend unless you have $40,000-$50,000 to throw away. I went through 2 cycles. The first cycle felt completely botched. Terrible communication from the Doctor and nurse causing multiple chances to complete a cycle being missed. Both the Doctor and nurse were kind to me about it being botched, but when you are an older patient every missed month is worrisome, and expensive.I had better results in the second cycle but still a failure. The better results were due to the addition of a micro dosing of Lupron. Im a little upset knowing my medical history that the doctor chose for me to go through the first cycle without it. I believe that was a contributing factor why Round 1 had such terrible results.Additionally, a month ago I called and asked if I had any outstanding bills and was told no. I just got a bill in the mail for $5000 that says it has been outstanding for 90-120 days and is near collections. That doesnt even include the surgery for egg removal from 2 weeks ago. Overall it took almost 2 years to do only 2 cycles and I was told that it probably wasnt in the cards for me now that Im 42. If only they had been more on their game when I first came to them 2 years prior. It might never have been in the cards for me, but now Im left with a lingering feeling. Would I have been successful if I went somewhere else that I had more confidence in?It is a heart breaking, challenging, and expensive process, especially when you feel like you need to remind the doctors and nurses of your case or steps their missing. Or when, you arent given all the financial information from the billing department. I do not recommend, it almost feels like a scam. These disappointed feelings of the process have been their since the first cycle when the miscommunications started. I am sure that part of my low review is due to not being successful. However, if I was lucky enough to result in a child, I dont think I would have left a positive review because of my experience. I just wouldnt have left a review.
The Maine location is fantastic. Infertility isn’t fun, but all of the staff here make everything more bearable. I’ve been a patient since 2017, and have gone through a few cycles. Dr. Lannon is wonderful. He is very kind and compassionate but he doesn’t waste your time sugar coating things, which I appreciate. He presents you with the facts and clear options that will help build your family. I always had Barbara as my nurse and she is incredible! She gave clear instructions, returned all my calls and called when she said she would, and she politely answered the thousands of questions I had (no matter how many times I asked!) I never had a problem getting ahold of her and she could not be kinder. Since I’ve been a patient for so long, I’ve had the opportunity to meet lots of different nurses and staff members. Everybody has always been lovely. Dr. Lannon and the rest of the staff are great at their jobs and I was confident I was receiving the best care possible. I never felt like just a number, and I always knew that everybody there was rooting for me. I had a really great experience here and absolutely recommend Dr. Lannon and all the staff at the Maine location.
Worst place I have ever been to. I do not recommend this place to anyone. They just keep taking your money and don’t look into the reason why treatment plans are not working for you. I felt very rushed and stressed every cycle. After 2 years I ended going to CNY fertility and had such an amazing experience at a 3rd of the price with no hidden fees. I’m still receiving bogus bills from Boston IVF from 2 years ago…
Awful service. Takes days to get a hold of anyone. They care more about money than they do the patients. Received multiple emails saying they wouldnt work with us until a bill was paid when we hadnt received the bill yet. Bill came in the mail the next day. Bill paid will not work with them again.
I have never experienced such a well-run office (medical or other) in my life. Service was extremely prompt and professional--they always took us on time. Aside from that, their knowledge and expertise was unparalleled. The team at Boston IVF--Portland Center (Dr. Lannon and Tami, in particular) was absolutely extraordinary. We are so grateful that they were able to assist us in conceiving our incredible son. We hope that we dont have to return for baby #2, but if we do, we are confident in knowing that we are in great hands!
I was 19 years old when I was diagnosed with unexplained infertility. My husband and I tried for 6 years on our own to conceive with no avail. It was such an emotional and trying time in our lives and I must say my only regret about Boston IVF is not going to them sooner. Last November I gave birth to a big beautiful baby girl and it just feels like a dream. I can’t thank them enough at Boston IVF for their compassion their knowledge and understanding and just making the entire experience a positive one. Do yourself a favor and go to these guys, they know what they are doing!!! Thanks Dr. Lannon!!!!Mrs. Dyer
We used Boston IVF for both of our children and felt incredibly supported and informed throughout the process. The doctors and staff were wonderful through all parts, the good and the bad. We are so thankful for the service and our two kids.
Dr. Lannon and the nurses are great! Would be a 5 star if not for a rude receptionist named Kim who doesnt seem like she cares much about anything and acts like I dont know what Im talking about. Either way our first round went perfectly, just had an embryo transfer for our 2nd round and keeping our fingers crossed!
Professional, personable, and caring staff. Anyone in the Maine area seeking infertility treatments should go here. Appointments get scheduled quickly and they are very honest and informing when you have questions. I have been extremely happy with everything!
We switched to Boston IVF from another clinic after needing a fresh start - we are so glad we did. We have a thriving and beautiful one year old boy all thanks to Dr. Apler, Dr. Lannon and Dr. Penzias. The nurses and the blood work staff are amazing - so understanding, welcoming and helpful.
They don’t follow anything you state. I felt like a number and not a patient. When you call to ask questions they don’t answer them but they constantly bring up money owed. When I have paperwork from my insurance that it was paid and they are trying to make me double pay. I’m over the games they want to play.
My husband and I love everyone at Boston IVF. They are kind and understanding but also have a great sense of humor which has been essential for us during our process. We would recommend their services to anyone!
My husband and I desperately wanted children and after several years and lots of closed doors we were fortunate enough walk through the open doors of BostonIVF Portland. They took our concerns very seriously and we worked together towards our family we desperately wanted. 4iuis and 2ivfs and we have 3 beautiful children. They understand the emotional and turmoil that you go through and support you the whole way. I recommend them 100%.
I did not anticipate going to Portland for IVF needs, but was so thankful for the collaboration between Waltham and Maine that allowed us to try options that were available in Maine but not in Massachusetts. The doctors and nurses were so caring and made uncomfortable situations seem less daunting.
I started using Boston IVF services back in 2013. I tried 8 rounds of IUI with hormones and with no success at a different facility. I was referred to The Portland office to Dr. Lannon. My experience has been nothing less then amazing, after loosing all hope and faith multiple times of trying multiple time on and off hormones I was at the end of the road.My wife and I met with Dr. Lannon and his team and we started the IVF process. He reassured me and gave me hope and confidence that we are able to make a baby and that he was confident it would soon work. After 2 tries of embryo transfers I was PREGNANT! I cried tears of joy and my wife and I was just blown away that it actually worked!January 2016 we had a healthy little boy. He is now 21 months old and I can’t believe I lived life ever without him! My wife and I was going back and forth whether to have another one or not. I have embryos frozen and we decided to try on and if it would work then we would have another baby if it didn’t work then I wasn’t sure if I would be able to go through the process again.Well sure enough I just found out Friday the 13th I’m pregnant again and we are having another little one! I have had such a wonderful and very emotional journey through this road of infertility! I don’t think I could have done it without an amazing support team!
I feel that the front desk receptionist is extremely rude and horrible at her job of customer service. Don’t dare ask her a question or to elaborate because she will snap at you. The nurses and doctors are fine, but I would never recommend this place to anyone because the receptionist turns it into such a negative experience.
Dr. Lannon was very friendly and professional. The nurses were all so helpful throughout the whole process. Successfully got pregnant twice!
Wonderful staff. Very understanding yet still able to keep the humor in the conversation. They found out more for me in one visit than my doctor did in the past 3 years.
Very professional, organized and easy to talk to. Thank you for helping out our nerves at ease
Theyre very caring. They make you feel like you matter and theyre with you every step of the way.
Amazing people. Excited to get the process started! Thank you ❤️
Great experience! Very friendly, quick, and professional. Would definitely recommend to anyone!
Very thorough and knowledgeable. The process is very efficient. You can feel that all of the staff are rooting for you. I recommend.
They were not willing to answer any questions over the phone for me. All I got was call back Monday and hung up
The lady who picks up the phone Shes’rude you can ask her question
The front desk lacks compassion.
