My nurse practitioner, Shoshana, was terrific to work with! She always took the time to make sure we understand procedures and next steps. The practice itself was always welcoming and clean. But I always had a very hard time getting in contact the office nurse via phone and even the receptionists. There were times where communication was not clear with us. My husband and I were very new to the IVF community and so we did not know all of the steps and procedures that were included nor when we both needed to be at the office or just me.In the end, our egg retrieval and embryo transfer were successful—and for that I, am forever grateful for the Kindbody clinic and it’s employees.
I absolutely adore the staff. Everyone is super caring and they keep me excited about the process. I feel confident in them eventually helping me concieve.
There is far too many issues to go into great detail here but I never made it past the first consultation with Kindbody and not for lack of serious effort. I spent entire days trying to get my information set up with them. Be aware the consultation is $300 (more than double what other clinics in the area charge) you will not speak with a doctor and 0 of your questions will be answered. You will also be required to fill out an unnecessary lengthy form which no one will ever read and will leave women who don’t have regular cycles tearing their hair out. Before I spent $50k on my egg bank plan of choice I wanted a few financial questions answered which I was told would be answered within the first week. It’s been a month and I’ve sent several messages as well as called several times and no one has ever talked to me about the pricing scale for non-Donor Egg Bank covered services. In fact, the insurance coordinator M***a S****z had the audacity to send me a message about my bill and after I sent multiple messages back with questions, she closed my conversation with her without ever even responding.I repeatedly told them I was having trouble with the portal messages and requested a tech support number for the national Kindbody operation. Not only did they not have this they continued to send me messages through the portal and refused to call me. At one point I was having to read messages on my computer and respond on my phone because their system is so broken. After weeks of trying to figure out how to get them what they needed I was told by 3 separate staff members to fill out a consent form to have my records sent from my previous clinic. I even spoke to one staff member in particular multiple times about this (L***a R**n). Once I sent over the consent and had my partner do the same (with a message indicating that this was to retrieve records as instructed by another office staff member) she then requested a fax number so she could send me records out to another clinic. I was floored. When she confused me further with messages back and forth I ended up calling and she simply told me that the form I filled out was to have records sent out not in, she never once apologized for herself and several other staff members telling me that that was indeed the correct form after I called and messaged with concerns based on the way the form was written. She insisted on talking over me every time I had a question and was generally rude every single time I spoke with her.It very much seems like Kindbody is only interested in collecting consultation fees and playing with your mental health until you finally give up. Shame on them for putting more stress on women who are already experiencing one of the most stressful things in their lives.
This clinic has mastered the art of the house looking good, but the kitchen is on fire. I want to be clear; I have no reason to lie about this business only the duty & motivation to share my experience.1) This Southfield location NEVER answers the phone. They have been citing phone issues for 2 months now. Each time I make an appointment I have to travel 30 min each way. It was not like this for our initial pulse assessment.2) My intake with the DR. was on zoom, we had connectivity issues and he spoke about me unpleasantly when he thought i couldnt hear. Unbeknownst to him the audio came back, but not the video. He said something along the lines of she cant handle zoom. I in fact wanted an in-person appointment, not zoom, but when I asked, I was told This is how its done by the scheduling staff.I have two other points to make, but I wont share them until I am done with them. I want my results from the last test & to pay my balance & finish with them. Hence the funny name of this gmail account for anonymity & to avoid retaliation of any kind. The last two issues are the WORST and would clearly identify me. I dont mind them knowing who I am, but I want to be done with them and have my paperwork first. Ill be back to edit this review soon.
Dr. Hakman is wonderful - shes compassionate, skilled and is a great listener. She identified a blood clotting disorder that my previous fertility clinic missed. Im super grateful for her expertise, knowledge, and compassion. Everyone onsite at the Southfield office is great, friendly and encouraging and I have zero complaints about my actual care. My review is for the external staff for this big corporation with multiple locations throughout the country. They cannot seem to help me with insurance pre-approval despite repeated attempts to explain to them my coverage and a 3rd party approval process through WIN Fertility. They do not communicate well, do not seem interested in helping, and refuse to submit documentation for a required cycle pre-approval through the 3rd party even though that 3rd party and my insurance have expressly told me multiple times that it will be covered as long as its pre-approved. One cycle has already been approved, but somehow they cant continue on which is so confusing to me. The insurance coordinator Ive spoken with multiple times, claims that its an upper management decision - Ive asked to speak with upper management to discuss and get further explanation, but no one has called me to find a solution. I even had a 3-way call with the insurance coordinator and a rep from WIN Fertility where WIN verified over the phone that if an approval form was submitted by VIOS and granted, my insurance would provide fertility benefits coverage as well as medication. If your insurance company does not have a contract with this office, it is a total nightmare to work with their financial services department, even if you have out-of-network coverage, which I do. Unfortunately, this added quite a bit of stress to my experience as I have $10k of fertility benefits that are unable to be used simply because they wont submit for approval.
Southfield/ Detroit location is the best! The staff are so encouraging, helpful, and caring. They really make you feel like they are part of your journey.
Grateful for the opportunity to grow our family! Had an amazing experience and Shoshana is so knowledgeable and helpful throughout the process!
Highly recommend
