The staff is very friendly. I had to wait a little over an hour and a half to be seen. I had complications at my appointment due to something one of the planned parenthood doctors did. They asked me to come back another day as they were unable to resolve the issue and when I was leaving, they just made me an appointment without consulting me about the time day nothing. A few weeks later I return and they did not inform me they made an appointment for another office. I still was able to get to the other office within 15 minutes of my appointment time but they cancelled it and wasn’t able to reschedule for another 3-4 weeks. They could’ve at least made a courtesy call for me or something.
I had a wonderful experience! I am so grateful to Planned Parenthood, and this location specifically for providing their services. As a nonconforming trans-masculine presenting human I can feel uncomfortable in many medical facilities but I felt safe, supported, welcomed and well cared for. The entire staff was great. I truly appreciate the NP (Amanda), for being so thorough and providing a lot of useful information, as well as listening and asking questions to better understand how to help. Thank you to the entire staff.
Wayyyyyyy better than the Albany location. Still not perfect, but at least I don’t have to spend 3 hours there for an appointment that should take 15 minutes total. They had me in and out fairly efficiently and they were nice. I’d recommend this one over the Albany one, but the Amsterdam one is still the best I’ve been to. I’m from Albany but honestly the Amsterdam planned parenthood might be worth the drive.
I loved the nurse joy smith, all the nurses were amazing tbh but joy was really the main one I chatted with, she was so kind so patient and so comforting, i haven’t been to pph in a few years , looks like some new ppl , but they’re always great to me, never keep me waiting and very informative, love their staff
I go here for female issues that I’d feel weird with speaking to someone at the er. The last time I went to the er from a painful bladder infection since I couldn’t see my primary quick enough was horrible and an unpleasant experience. I thought I would have had to do that again until remembered planned parenthood. I didn’t think they would take care of stuff like this but 1 quick Google search shows they will. I called the # and received an automated message about they are training new staff at to call back at 3pm(it was 2:30ish) no problem-I’m empathetic. I call back a little after 3 and ask if this was the Troy office or if this is a general office number-which the receptionist informed me it was however she can get into the Troy offices appointment system at 410 if I needed one. I didn’t hear the 4:10 part so I just asked about walk ins of which she responded that” I could if I wanted to;but they do have an appointment free at 4:10.”Shocked I replied” today?” Expecting it to be like a few days later but Nope,it was same day,in about an hours time. So I was able to be seen no issues. Everything from checking in, having my basic stuff checked (weight, height, vitals and a urine screening): followed as a quick exam of my belly and kidney area to check for soreness). I commented on the nurses nails and was offered some advice to help myself with the discomfort. We also joked around with some girl talk which is nice. The doctor came in and was friendlier then ever. She asked if I had a preference for antibiotics and also explained why she asked that.I never was asked that before at all. As a child I was always sick and had uti after uti that developed resistance to some antibiotics at time so I knew the one I had as a kid,the last one was the winner. Anyway, this review is really long,I apologize. I’m not one to put my personal stuff out there but I had such a sweet experience going here that I wanted to atleast add the review. Even the checkout was so easy. Just gave them my pharmacy info and take the folder to the checkout. No issues. No rudeness. No problem. Maybe I just got lucky with the staff that was on today. Who knows. Anyway, if your a woman and are having any issues, problems or anything that you don’t feel comfortable going to the er for, I would recommend you go to the nearest p.p.
Nov. 2018Update: I went to the clinic again for my annual this year and found my experience to be a lot different than last year. I had an appointment for 10:15 and was left sitting in the exam room for about an hour waiting for the physician. When she finally arrived she had to run out of the room twice because she forgot her laptop and didn’t have the right size scope. She was rushed throughout the exam and never made any small talk for comfort or interest in the patient at all. She then messed up my prescription refills sending them as the incorrect months supply. I ended up finally leaving the clinic around 12, making it almost 2 hours long. I shouldn’t have to worry about getting a parking ticket while in the office because my 2hr parking might run out. This experience has finally given me the push to go find an actual gynecology office, next year. Not impressed.Nov. 2017I had a great experience at this facility! I was skeptical after looking through some of the older reviews, but was greeted and treated with the utmost professionalism. The clinic was a little difficult to find, you enter the building on the entrance facing monument square and then find the stairwell or take the elevator in the lobby up to the second floor. I am not new to PP as a whole, but this location specifically and I found it to be clean and well maintained. I also found it to by quite quaint in the older style quiet building. I HIGHLY recommend this facility and will continue using their services.
I was a little skeptical when i had to make an appointment here due to all the bad reviews.. but my experience was amazing. I did get there 30 minutes early because i knew i had paperwork, and wanted to be considerate of their 4.00pm closing time;my appointment time being at 2.30pm. Every staff member from the very first face i saw, was extremely polite, compassionate and friendly. The office/waiting area/medical room/bathroom was super clean. I highly recommend this office.
It was a little hard to find the office, but once I did I was pleasantly surprised. I notice a lot of reviews say the place is dirty; personally, all I noticed is that the building is old, it seemed clean to me. The staff was very friendly and made sure to know what pronouns I wanted to go by, which was very cool. I didnt have to wait around a particularly long time at any point, and my nurse made sure I was comfortable (Im scared of needles, she repeatedly offered to find someone whose hand I could squeeze if that would help because I was sort of freaking out). I had a great experience here and would definitely go back.
Every employee here that I talked to was extremely friendly and helpful. I wasnt feeling great initially after my procedure (just a reaction, they did everything correctly), but they were patient with me, giving me crackers, company, and time to slowly get up without feeling dizzy. I felt very safe and cared for, I could tell everyone there wants the best for their patients.
Had a 4:30 appointment today and it is 6:30 still havent received the depo shot and when I tell yall I am literally the only patient here I would not lie and no one has administered the shot yet...definitely crazy, but the staff at the front desk is very nice. Thank God for patience 🙏
Went for an annual checkup, base rate is $240. At check-in I was told I qualify for a 20% discount and would be charged $212. At checkout I was charged $240, and when I told the person at the desk thats not what I was quoted, she said well thats what it is. I was given a receipt showing the amount charged, with no details. I asked for the detailed statement and saw my account had a $48 credit meaning I overpaid. I called the central billing number and was advised I should have been charged $192 and they would void the additional charge. A couple days later I got the credit on my card. What a joke. This motivates me to find a gynecologist.
As a young professional who needs to be cared for, I think Ill find a new feminine health provider. I expected the best when I spoke to the receptionists, but Ive been in this office without having my annual check in for almost two hours. My anxiety is through the roof and I honestly have never been so uncomfortable in a place that cares for people. Im so glad I didnt come earlier in the day, because I would have likely missed hours of work.
Ive been here several times and the wait time is just getting longer and longer. The staff are so lovely the place is clean but it takes almost 2-4 hours for any appointment which is ridiculous especially when I even arrived early to my appointment. Im extremely understanding when it comes to waiting but after 2+ hours of doing nothing but sitting in a room Im getting really annoyed. Book for the earliest time slot right when they open or dont bother coming.
When I entered the clinic I was less then greeted by the receptionist who sat at the desk with a non-enthused demeanor. When buzzed in I sat in the wait area for upwards 15 minutes before I was given my check in paperwork. Once the paperwork was completed I sat for an additional 35min now putting me 50 minutes of Just waiting time alone. While the receptionist talked, loud, and played mildly sexual music for me to cringe to. As if the ambiance was not already set, right before needing to add more money to my meter a mouse made its guest appearance in the waiting room. I was finally seen at 1:10.... my appointment was for 11:40
Not sure I’ll be bringing my daughter back here. Was told I couldn’t enter in with my emotionally support dog that is lucky to weigh 7 pounds. With proof showing that she is registered in the state of NY. Then telling me she’s okay to go in by herself. Since when is a 15 year old allowed to make their own decisions at a doctors office?
I arrived at 1:50 for a 2:00 appointment (not walk-in). Im already in the system being that Im a patient for many years. Wait almost an hour just to be taken back to a room. Then waited another 50 minutes before I decided to leave and make an appointment with a real obgyn. I asked how much longer and im told not sure there is only one physician. Totally unprofessional and just careless about patients time. They are getting paid regardless of how long you have to wait while they sit and talk amongst each other and leave patients for over 45 minutes with no communication.
DEFINITELY wouldnt recommend. I feel my confidentiality is at risk and theyre just unprofessional. I had an appt for 9:45am its 10:25am so i ask how much longer for my APPOINTMENT not a walkin because thats the treatment im getting. She says without looking at me ...theres only 1 provider ....like ok !? No courtesy check in no nothing. Im not gonna sit here and accept this kinda treatment i feel profiled because of the type of place it is which is unacceptable on every level.
Ill tell you, every single time Ive gone here, I end up spending 2 - 3 hours. Its over 30 mins before youre called, then another hour in the room before you see the doc. This past year, I got an IUD. It took 3 hours for her to get to me, but I was free that day and didnt mind. Well fast-forward three weeks of constant bleeding, and one day the damn thing actually came out!!!then I said Id try a low-hormone pill. it was awful, so I stopped. I had to go back twice for Plan B while I waited for ANOTHER appointment for ANOTHER IUD (cant take hormones, theres really nothing else - forget a diaphragm, they talk you out of it because its a pain in the ass for them). both times I went to get Plan B, I had to wait over 45 minutes on my lunch break. Thanks.Wanna hear the punchline? Now Im pregnant. Thanks PP of Troy!
I have been going here for 20 years have seen several providers at the office and for the most part loved them all yes the wait is a bit much at times but thats the way it goes. All but one provider there made sure i was comfortable and understood everything and new every option that i had available to me from birth control to std testing to pregnancies and so on. Would much rather go here then my normal ob/gyn which is why i now only go here they are helpful and informative never once i have i been treated badly whether it be by dr.storm mary or the nursing staff they have always been courteous and friendly. Highly recommend Troy planned parenthood to any and all
Tired of waiting two hours to get a depo shot... every planned parenthood I’ve ever been to has a ridiculously long wait for an appointment that should take no longer than 20 mins. Find a regular gyn if your looking to save time. Appointment was at 2:00 pm, I just go into a room at 3:35.... now I’m waiting in the room for what’s been another 20 mins.
Im trying to think if there was a single thing I did like.. No there wasnt. If you enjoy waiting four or five hours just to get in to be seen and another hour to be seen by all means go waste your time.. This place is filthy and extremely unprofessional.. In fact I dont know why its even open at all.. Dr. Storm is a rude piece of .. U fill in the blank. If you value your health and the way you are treated please find another place to go.. If you happen to be a working mother id consider the Albany office, its much cleaner professional and hey guess what they are actually open on Saturday .. Troy wont tell you that though.
So as far as in person they are nice and sweet but one it’s time to prescribe medicine they play games and they wait they put no care into that on top of them saying your meds would be at pharmacy and you get there and they are not
Had a appointment at 1:05 got there at 12:50 sat in a room til 3:00 then walked out due to having a life besides sitting in a office with only one doctor there wont go back
Wonderful staff. I have anxiety with needles and everyone was so kind and understanding. Would return to this location again.
Very nice, very nice offices, clean, friendly.Easy location to get to.
These are some of the kindest people i have ever met, and they have bent over backwards to help me several times. i am grateful!
I believe very strongly in the mission of Planned Parenthood but wowza is the secretary at this location rude
Very helpful, got me what I needed!!
Extremely rude and unhelpful. Go to the Albany office if you can.
Staff is rude as hell...not helpful at all.
The staff is SO rude - choose another location.
Its a good place to go to
Wonderful staff
The staff is great
