I’ve been going here for several years, lately it takes over 6 months to get an appointment. You have to be on hold for at least half an hour to speak with someone at any given time. Lately it’s been taking half a month to get basic prescriptions filled (after they made me get them through their office instead of my pcp). Now have to change my prescriptions back to my pcp, which will cost me time and money and has negatively impacted my health due to medication inconsistency.
I was calling to get my first appointment scheduled with Dr. Carter. Her nurse called me to set up an appointment and talk about insurance and pricing. I told them I was self pay for at least the first visit until I settled getting on my husband’s insurance. But I already had an idea of the pricing and was just excited to have my first appointment and wanted to make sure everything was okay and money wasn’t an obstacle. Dr. Carter’s nurse was extremely condescending about the price and her tone insinuating that I couldn’t pay for it (this isn’t my first rodeo I have a 5 year old and know how much these things can be) and was told to go to a community center for the first few visits…. I said I didn’t want to go to a community center that’s why I was setting up an appointment here and that money wasn’t a problem I just wanted to see my baby. After being belittled I decided to not book with Dr. Carter. She seemed really nice and I was excited to go to her but not after being treated like that by her nurse. I did end up booking with Dr. Grogono at another location. Her nurse was very nice and accommodating when talking about price and insurance and I didn’t feel judged or belittled.
Dr. Amanda White and her staff are friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. The service is excellent, They listen to the patient, offer options so the patient can make an informed decision. I wish they had an office in Brownsville to make my trip shorter. Definitely worth the drive!
I was very nervous about my appointment, because I was scheduled to see one doctor and ended up being placed with another. Mary Brown is literally an angel sent from heaven. She was the first person to validate my symptoms and my pain and all of the ways that it has been detrimental to my life. I finally felt like I was somewhere that I could get a path forward to get my life back and I trust her immensely to help me achieve that. She was upfront about the fact that there was no immediate fix, but she was also clear that she would be with me every step of the way to get better. Not only was her medical care, top-notch, both my husband and I just felt at ease immediately with her energy and conversation style. For the first time in years, I felt “seen” in a medical setting. And that is priceless to me.
I am forced to come back and downgrade my 5-star review after attempting to correspond with my doctor due to a postpartum complication. The complication itself is frustrating and scary—I am lucky it was discovered as many indicators suggest I’m fine. Ascension has been truly awful at communicating since this complication was identified. There is ZERO communication with the doctor. ZERO. There is an online portal where you can supposedly correspond with your doctor, but you actually talk with perfect strangers who know nothing about you, your health history, or your doctor. I’m less angry about very dangerous and serious health problems being missed by Ascension than I am about the total lack of communication.
Dr Amanda White and her staff are incredible. Everyone I encountered during my visit was helpful and friendly. I would recommend her without exceptions.
I saw Dr. Carter for the first time and she was amazing to work with. She listened to my issued and advocated for my personal decision, rather than trying to convince me otherwise. She got me on track for a surgery I need and Im excited to finally have the ball rolling.
I was charged 6 times for one appointment that I went to back in August. When looking at the charges, the services provided for 3 of these invoices were identical -they just had different medical claim numbers. Amounts and payment breakdowns were exact. (2 charges for a New doctor visit, 45+ minutes $501.00, 2 charges for Imaging/Radiology $301.00, and 2 additional charges for a second Imaging/Radiology for $566.00). I called to dispute the charges about 3 weeks ago, and the person I spoke with over the phone was pretty dismissive about it and mentioned that I need not worry about it because it was covered by insurance. I stated that the issue is more with the fact that they are double dipping on ONE visit. He said they would look into it, but I have not received any further communication nor have the charges come off my account. Pretty shady if you ask me.
Made an appointment. Gave my insurance. Waited 3 months for someone to be available. Learned AT the appointment that I had to pay $200. Doctors are such a scam in general. It’s not like I have bad insurance this is the first time this happens to me. I shouldn’t be surprised though. That’s just doctors in Austin.
What a lovely staff! So welcoming and accommodating. I told the front desk I had to be in and out as quickly as possible and they communicated that with the other nurses helping me - appointment took 25 minutes and I was out before I knew it. On top of it, Dr Laura was overly communicative during my appointment making sure I was comfortable and knew every step along the way. Definitely suggest booking the earlier appointment if you’re looking for that faster turnaround time. Thank you for such a seamless experience ladies!
Love Dr. Breen, he is an amazing doctor and really take care of his patients!
Dr. Travieso is the best gynecologist I have visited since I moved to Texas from Chicago 13 years ago. I have lived in several Texas cities and visited the “ best” gynecologists, no one compares to Dr. T.’s gentle calm nature and compassionate bed side manner. What is most impressive is her transparency in diagnosis and providing a care plan. Dr. T sat next to me enabling me to view her laptop screen as she inquired about and typed details of my medical history . She then wrote in great detail required testing and my future care plan. I did not feel rushed while asking her several questions. I was referred to Dr. T by my PCP and very nervous about my visit. The receptionist are warm , and organized. I was also impressed with Dr. T’s assistant Susan, whom got the visit off to a good start with her compassion and did not ask repetitive medical history questions. I highly recommend Dr. Travieso, I am 57 and have been in menopause for several years , I trust her expertise 100% in treating any gynecological issues. Thank you and blessings to the entire team!
Excellent care for women. You can find at Ascension Medical doctors who are caring, knowledgeable, professional, and who are the absolute best in their field. They literally had to save my life when I first found them. If you have a complicated problem, these are the women you want taking care of you.
I absolutely love Katie and her staff. Everyone is so friendly and kind! Thank you for all you do!!
Dr Tsai is very patient, understanding, and compassionate. On my recent visit she had a student doctor with her who was very kind and helpful. They both got me through the biopsy I needed, and I feel so grateful that the results showed no problems. I always know I will be treated with respect and dignity with Dr Tsai and any help I need is graciously provided.
The doctor was knowledgeable and the waiting time was not too long since I was able to check in online. The only feedback I have is being able to make the followup appointment. They dont do that at the desk cause a scheduler is suppose to call you to get that set. This concerns me since it is a long wait to get an appointment. Would be nice to get the followup appointment set when leaving the facility
Dr. Breen, Laura Van Doren and their entire staff are wonderful, thorough, extremely knowledgeable, and easy to follow up with. Big plus? They are punctual. I’ve never waited more than 5 minutes after my appointment time.
Warning: this practice illegally balance bills. Check your paperwork and see if you are signing anything that allows them to balance bill you for anything above/outside of insurance contracted rates. I have made a complaint with Aetna.
Dr. Kimberly Carter and her team are amazing! She took wonderful care of my last pregnancy and I was able to delivery a healthy on term baby and now I am back with my last pregnancy!
Trigger warning pregnancy lossI know no one will ever get back to me.I had a horrible experience.I called in regarding spotting I was having over the weekend. And since I was not able to reach my Ob I had to speak to the on call drs. I called in several times on Saturday to get a call back and a woman told me rudely that they are very busy. And after 4 hours Dr. Howard told me that it was nothing I shouldn’t worry. You are taught by all online resources, doctors and books that any sign of bleeding is a big concern and she dismissed it.I listened and waited. I called again and spoke to DR Polin. He told me the same. I tried to let him know the Urgency and said to him I did notice that I wasn’t feeling baby any more. Since this was my second pregnancy I felt baby early. He then proceeded to tell me that it was IMPOSSIBLE to feel my baby at 16 weeks. My bleeding progressed and called him again. He then told me since my pregnancy is not viable I cannot go to this hospital since I was not 20 weeks or more. I had to go the the nearest emergency.I went to the seton on red river. Down town. And that was by far the worst experience! And by the way Dr. Polin and Dr Howard who dismissed my concern and my baby did pass away at 14 weeks. When I was supposed to be 16 weeksHorrible experience and will never ever step into a seton hospital again.
I am currently going through an ectopic pregnancy. Through all of the stress and sadness, I will say, nothing makes me happier then to speak with Cynthia. She is truly a breath of fresh air! I adore my doctor (Dr. Carter) she is also wonderful to be around, and always makes me feel welcomed.Today was a fairly tough day for me and it was great to feel like I had a friend at the office, who had my best interest in mind. The doctors here will not steer you wrong, and every one of the people here are warm and welcoming (especially Cynthia). If you’re looking for the best place in town, this is the spot.
Clinic policy allows you to switch doctors if you havent visited them in 3 years. Havent been there for 2 years (seen this doctor once and she was great) but her only availability is in 6 months!!! This is unreasonable. I asked to switch a doctor but was told its against their policy. Feel like my healthcare is being prevented for a rule that doesnt make sense, inhumane and unethical!
5 star doctors and 1 star time managementI understand things happen and doctors are busy. Every time I come to this office, I wait for over an hour and I’m normally seen 45 minutes after my appointment time. It would be nice for reception to call patients and advise them on situations. Some people take time off work and school for the doctors and with these absurd wait times, people could show up later and not miss as much work and school. If calls can’t be made, start increasing appointment times to allow for tardiness. Better early than late.
I have seen both Dr. Harkins and Laura the Nurse Practitioner. They are both amazing. Neither of them were rushed. They answered all my questions and addressed all my concerns. They are both very knowledgeable and experienced. Most recently I saw Laura, twice. I highly recommend her. I wish everybody could have such a fantastic provider.
Excellent office visit, and I am totally pleased with my MD. Its always great to have knowledgeable staff that you can have frank and straightforward exchange with. Ive been a patient with this group for some years, and wouldnt think of going anywhere else.
I love this doctors office so much!! Every time I’m in their it feels so comforting and not scary like most offices Dr. John Harkins wooooooowwwwww weeeew the BEST HANDS DOWN but don’t request him cause I love the availability he has for me lol jk no gatekeeping🫶🏾🥰❤️‼️
I cant say enough wonderful things about Dr. Barry and the staff at Acension Seton MFM. Dr. Barry is extremely knowledgeable and has a really comforting bedside manner. All the techs have been wonderful, but Zara was our favorite, without a doubt. The staff at the front desk always has a smile on their faces. Its a scary thing to have to go to a MFM doctor, but this is the place to go if you want compassionate care. A warning to first time parents, the waiting room is small and can get a little hectic with toddlers and children tagging along with their parents, but I refuse to remove a star because of it. My husband and I, while extremely grateful, are a little sad we dont have a reason to see them again.
I have seen Dr Chipman for years, he is a great doctor. He recently performed a major surgery on me and he and his team took great care of me before and during my stay in the hospital.
Mismanaged appointments, unclear scheduling and COVID protocols, cancelled appointments at arrival with no attempt to remedy situations past what benefits them, the provider, instead of the patient. Sends prescreen right before appointments limiting their time to deny you service and canceling last minute. Illogical and misaligned office communication and protocol.Do NOT recommend. Austin MFM is standards above and i will be returning despite having to pay in full out of pocket. Not worth it at Seton.
Ive had one child with them as my healthcare provider and have another on the way. Theyve been delightful, punctual, professional, and kind. I couldnt ask for a better group. Dr. Carter is great and the staff are friendly! Highly recommend.
Dr. Afrire-Grey is a wonderful and competent practitioner. Patient and kind, and committed to providing exceptional care to her patients.
I am addressing their portal that they encourage you to use. They did not call in my prescription to Walgreens like they promised. Since I am told all the time that the portal is the secret to contacting them, I spend an hour trying to get in to portal and navigate it. The same thing happened last time. Once in, it states that I should leave a message. But then it has the most irritating following words. We will contact you and respond to your message in two days. Without that medicine, I could be dead in two days. Why do they make this so hard? Why do they just always leave a phone message to call ER and not bother them except office hours. Am I do go to ER tonight, pay again, sit and wait after driving across town, to get the medicine I nee?
As always, nurse practioner Lauren Van Doren was thorough, genuinely caring and detailed. Shes very knowledgeable in her field and offerd well-thought- of advice.
Great experience! The nurses and all of the staff were wonderful.I have had 2 procedures here and I have had top notch care each time.
Dr.Tsai was great. Her medical assistant Maria and crystal were awesome very caring and knowledgeable. Thank you for the great customer service.
The best care with most professional efficient team in Texas!
Dr. Carter so far has been wonderful! The office is clean and everyone is professional. I did have to wait a while for my appointment, but I was late more than 15 minutes so I take blame.
Amazing experience! I felt so calm and relaxed during an emotional time. The staff showed compassion, excellent customer service and kindness. Definitely recommend!
Staff was very helpful and friendly. And kind and gentle. I love this hospital 🏥. Thank yall for making me feel 😁 better. I hope 🙏 I wont be back!😂
Dr. Carter is the greatest! Her staff and the whole office environment were super positive.
Usually I don’t have any issues with this office. But I have been sitting in the waiting room an hour and a half past my appointment time. This is absolutely ridiculous and I will be finding a new doctor. I don’t even wait this long at the VA!!
Dr Breen was awesome. Felt comfortable with him right away, explains in detail and answers questions without rushing it.
Dr Carter is so great. She is thorough and gentle and takes very great care of my health.
