Have been a patient here for 3 years with Gretchen Palmer. Her bedside manner is always great, rooms are clean, parking is easy. Wonderful office for someone to come in for well women’s exam! Office staff is also polite :)
Can you say girl power any louder? The OBGYN is never comfortable, but the staff at this location are more than incredible. It is so clean, and the location of the office is perfect for me! NP Gretchen Palmer and her staff go above and beyond to make sure that you feel comfortable, welcomed, and still answer all of your questions to the best of their abilities. They have worked with my schedule, my concerns, and my needs. I will never go elsewhere!
I had a wonderful IUD insertion with Gretchen Palmer. I was very nervous, and she was incredibly sweet, friendly, and understanding. She made me feel very comfortable, and explained every step of the procedure. It went far better than I could have ever hoped – I felt very little discomfort. She was amazing and I highly recommend her.
Run far, far away. The doctors at Womens Health Texas 1) did not remove my IUD when I asked 2) were unable to address the specific health issue I was dealing with after 3 months of working with them 3) refused to send me my medical records unless I paid them $20. I do not recommend!EDIT: to make things worse, they wont stop spam texting me to make another appointment. Ive responded STOP to opt out and they wont take me off their list. Im pretty sure that abuses some rule about SMS communication. This business is garbage.
I saw Nurse Practitioner Gretchen Palmer for a Nexplanon implant this year and had an annual there recently. Quick and rushed treatment. Does fine but definitely isnt for anyone who has any nervousness about it. She doesnt say anything or tell you what shes going to do before poking at you. Pap smear made me bleed for a day. Doesnt seem attentive to detail.I asked to consult for a bilateral salpingectomy (fallopian tube removal), which is offered by a surgeon at the Obgyn Group of Austins other practice location, and she didnt even wait to have the appointment to have the front desk call me and deny me. (And in the call where I asked to speak about the procedure, the front desk didnt even know what the bisalp is and assumed I wanted a hysterectomy and ovary removal) Because Im young and female- there wasnt one question about the genetic counselor Ive seen, my family history of ovarian cancer, my mental health, my physical health, or my personal choice to manage my own fertility. Apparently Gretchen knows best- despite being a nurse practitioner who doesnt perform the procedure. I wont be in this office ever again.
The ONLY reason I am giving them 2 stars is because of Gretchen Palmer. Probably the nicest person to have in your most intimate areas... The person that gives you news, answers your mist private questions- is an absolute nightmare. She will talk down to you and make you feel quite stupid. WHT is losing me as a patient after 16 years for her and billing mistakes. If you insist on charging me $135 for a 20 second conversation, make sure its a good one.
My major issue is with their Billing department, in addition to being uneconomical, they can’t even match my payment to the account. I paid all my dues in July 2021 through my HSA provider, the payment was cleared by their office in August 2021. Since then I have received multiple reminders to complete payment, I called back and provided details of the transaction and also emailed a copy of the confirmation to Deborah McCarter. I provided a physical copy to the office and they said they don’t handle Billings but they will inform the office. Now 5 months later they have sent me to collections and fined me $19 in addition to the expensive out of pocket cost of $92.
Wish I could leave 0 stars. This was the worst experience Ive had at any doctors office, and I never even saw the doctor....was literally all the admin people!I work in insurance, so before an appointment, I like to verify everything. I saw Dr Michelle Gooch in my insurance network online provider directory (where my insurance carrier says to look as that is the same directory any insurance carrier agent would use) and was pretty happy because this is who several of my clients see. I phoned Dr Goochs office on a Thurs and asked for an appointment pretty quickly (urgent issue) and was told her NP could see me the following Mon. I asked if it would be billed under Dr Gooch because NP did not show as in-network and Id be charged a higher amount. Was assured by scheduler that since Gooch was overseeing Dr, that is who claim would be billed under.Things didnt feel right, so on Mon before my appt, I called the billing/admin office to confirm what scheduler told me. Billing/admin person told me that since there was no claim yet, I would have to contact the doctors office. So, I arrived 35min prior to my appt to ask this question and get some reassurance how Id be billed (since I already know this would be a hefty bill with testing that would need to be done). The check-in woman said she could not tell me and Id need to contact the billing/admin line. I explained that I had already done that and was told I needed to speak with the doctors office. She told me that I would be billed under NP and I told her thats not what I was told when making the appt, otherwise I would have scheduled with a different facility altogether. She and I went back and forth for a bit before before I told her Id call the billing/admin line again, but to check me in anyways. She handed me back my cards and by that time the billing/admin person (incredibly the same rep I spoke with earlier!) answered so I walked away to just outside of their glass doors so as to not disturb their patients in waiting room. At this point it is now 15min before my appt.Billing/admin rep tells me same thing as earlier and I told her that I was at the doctors office, there was nobody at doctors office that can answer my question and was told to call them (billing/admin). She told me to hold and shed transfer me to her bosses VM. Told her a VM would not help and Id like to speak with someone....she transferred me anyways. I left manager VM.I call my dad (also in insurance) asking for advice and we both agree that I should see the NP because of the urgency. It is now 10min past my appt time and the check-in person said that Id have to reschedule because I didnt have my paperwork done. ARE YOU KIDDING ME! I told her Id complete during NP examine and I wasnt sure how to complete paperwork I WAS NEVER GIVEN. She said that NP was saying I had to reschedule and there was nothing she could do (actually heard the NP saying through the door that it was ok at this point). I told them they had the WORST service and Id find another Dr. My GP saw me right away.
I love Women’s Health Texas. The staff is friendly, making appointments is easy, and they keep me informed every step of the way. The doctors “think out loud” during exams so I never have to wonder if this or that is normal.
Great attention from all the staff!
Knowledgeable and supportive environment!!!
