I adore the idea of the safe space, first visit went smooth and rapid results, unfortunately this visit a couple months later my specimen samples have been lost and doesnt even show that I was there so Im pretty upset with the unprofessional handling from the staff, I only have one day off a week and I cant keep going up to a place, staying in long lines, just to have you all lose my samples. So Im left waiting for results that may never come. Having to do the whole process over again.
Not going to lie the wait time sucks. Even just making an appointment was quite the wait but honestly its a free clinic so I expect it. Some days it moves faster than others (cant tell you what days but I think afternoon is less people than mornings) Also staff is pretty friendly which isnt always the case with free clinics because typically they have so many people they are overwhelmed/overworked. However the true star of the show for me is bloodwork guy! I absolutely dread needles but he makes it so painless and quick that I dont feel a thing :) I dont remember his name, but he has like the perfect beard so hes noticeable!
Music is too loud. If I want to listen to loud music there is a bar literally next door. Im pretty sure my urine and swab samples were never tested because I was negative for everything but Im having symptoms. So Im pretty sure these people didnt bother testing my samples and just marked my chart as negative. Now Im getting a REAL sti test done by my primary doctor. I will NEVER come back to this place again.
First visit 5/2/24Excellent service (thank you Angela) and Dr. Nabeel.5/10 5/11 and 5/14You can never get someone to answer the phone and that is one of the reason I switched to this office since I was experiencing that kind of behavior at another AHF location. Now its the same thing (Cedar Springs).I understand that ppl are busy, but to not get a return call at all is unacceptable.6/4 and 6/5They still wont answer the phone, nor do they check their messages (vmail, stays full) So Id suggest you find somewhere to go as I will be doing the same.
This place used to be very efficient and fast. now you’re wait a minimum of an hour for testing and they always closing early. took me a month to finally have time to come in and wait for testing
I had an amazing experience here at AHF.TIFF gave excellent customer service and made me feel so welcomed. I was a bit nervous about needles at first but I’m thankful for Tiff and her welcoming and friendly spirit. Thank you!!
Soooo Jeremy is the goat at sticking people with needles. Ive a TERRIBLE fear of needles and he made it seem effortless and easy. I didnt even flinch too much. And Kendra has amazing customer service skills and a shoe game to match. (Wish I woulda got her number...)But I recommend everyone to go get tested here! Fast, easy, and quick results!
Check in,test approx time very bad, first have to checkin for apointment number ,then you get estimate time ,anywhere from 1hr to 3hrs and no idea if thats approx time you get to test, management could do simple average estimate per person process time from past experience and estimate and allot cards instead of random come in 1hr to 3hrs and if you not there exact time ,you loose your slot ?? ,simple ticketing system with white board with current number could help where your number ,app is not built for apointments:management could do little process improvment instead of whatever and doing bare minimum and reply to reviews
Simple, easy, free full panel test with a team that cares. May you find this place as safe as I did.
Be prepared to wait a minimum of 3 hours even if you get there before they open. They move incredibly slowly here.I was waiting over 4 hours despite being there before they even opened and being among the first group of folks to be there.Unless you have no where else to be or just no other realistic options, I dont recommend this place at all.
The Hispanic lady with blonde hair is TERRIBLE. NOT ONLY IS SHE NOT ABIDING BY HIPPA SHE IS ALSO GIVING FALSE INFORMATION REGARDING TESTING. EVERY-TIME SINCE SHES BEEN HERE IVE HAD THIS ISSUE. THIS IS ABSOLUTELY UNACCEPTABLE. TELLING PATIENTS YOU HAVE TO WAIT 3 WEEKS FOR TESTING AFTER TREATMENT IS BACKWARDS AND INCORRECT. I HOPE YOU ALL DO BETTER.
The new process of walking in then having an appointment for a later time is VERY INCONVENIENT!! The prior process was very simple and didn’t affect my schedule in anyway. Not sure why the change cause I saw the same reaction when I found out from several people. Some people come during breaks and don’t have the ability to come back at a later time. My appointment was 2 hours after I walked in. I drove 30 mins to come get it completed. It threw off all my plans for the remainder of the day. If the process returns back to the prior ways it would be a 5 star rating. I hope yall seriously consider changing the process to make it simpler for your clients.
I called found out I had to come to the place to schedule and appointment since it’s a walk in clinic and said ok I’m coming from over 40 mins away. I get there the guy says I have to come back at 3 because they are about to go to lunch. If you haven’t clocked out yet why not schedule me so I can come back for my appointment. Or better yet if you answer the phones why not advise people of that. I was literally inside the place and turned around. It’s no effing way you that damn hungry !
I’ve been going to AHF since 2018 and has always been smooth until recently. Please go back to the old system It went from a 30 minute wait to a hour or more wait. Most people set an appointment and no show because the wait time is too long.
I’m not sure when it changed but it use toBe you walk in and get called back in the order of the walk ins that come in. But now you walk in then they schedule you 4 hours later to come back for an appointment. You can’t call to schedule ahead bc they don’t answer the phones. I hate this new system bc I live a hour away. The previous way was so much smoother and convenient for people who don’t live close or just have stuff todo.. real unfortunate
I have been here several times for free testing! Never here more than an hour. I can’t remember his name, but the blk young man with the nice smile, is awesome. Made small talk and was very personable. I will def return for testing.
Dear AHF team,I hope this message finds you well.First of all, I would like to say thank you for having such a helpful and supportive organization for the society that is in need. Your team is amazing in helping me to get tested.Meanwhile, I would like to share my unpleasant experience today. I tested gonorrhea positive so I went to the Cedar Springs clinic to receive treatment. I am a full-time worker thus I went there during my lunch break. I verified on the phone and the staff said receiving the treatment shouldnt take long as there are fewer patients and I did get ticket 3 for receiving treatment. I thought it wouldnt take long because at least I am the third person. However, it took one hour and a half for the doctor to see me since I knew the second person had gone in and I was checking my watch all the time to hope that I could be done during my lunch hour. Its good for a doctor to check a patient carefully but an hour and a half is too long and insufficient considering other patients in the queue. Compared to the Help Center, they only need 15 mins to give an injection then patients are all set and good to go.When I actually saw the doctor today at 12:30 noon, I didnt remember his name, sorry I am not a native English speaker. I believe there was only one male doctor working today at the Cedar Springs clinic. I guess he is pretty young and a bit chubby. He was wearing his mask all the time which created a distance to the patients. It is understandable if he is scared of COVID-19 but the Help Center doctor never wore a mask but with a big smile instead. He asked, Are you gonorrhea positive? and I replied, Yes. His tone was impatient. Then, he asked do you have insurance? I said yes. He gave me a blamed look and asked why are you here? He added this place is only for those who cannot afford it. He is right but he shouldnt judge too fast especially when he is working for sensitive and vulnerable communities. I cant imagine how he would communicate with those patients who tested HIV positive. He should be aware that with this non-profit organization background, his job is not only giving physical treatment but also caring for patients mentally. I explained to him that I am new to the US and just got a new job. From the job, I got insurance and I dont have a primary doctor yet. I even told him I was more comfortable seeing a doctor here. Though he started making me uncomfortable, I asked if I still got the treatment today. He said yes then he asked me to lie down on my back for the treatment.I did as he told me. When he was preparing for the injection, I untied my pants button, lifted my shirt, and moved my pants down a bit so that I could get ready for the injection. Thats how we do back in my country. It only showed my left-side upper butt a bit. I dont see it as an inappropriate action. All of a sudden, he said dont expose yourself until I ask you to. I felt humiliated and discouraged to continue my treatment. I just told him I wanted to go to the toilet then I left the clinic. I would say he is immature and unprofessional when dealing with my case at least. I hope AHF can give more professional communication training especially when dealing with vulnerable patients. Thank you.Kind regards,Andrew
The staff were friendly & personable. The waiting time was reasonable for a free walk in clinic, for sure⭐️. Received more thorough testing than I ever have from my PCP & received the results w/in 48 hours 👍🏻
Such a cozy, professional low key place. Zimora and DJ were such positive lights. Made my experience feel so comfortable. Zimora was so professional and I watches her handle upset and sick guest with great care. DJ was very warming and explained everything to me and Im so grateful for this experience. Thank you AFH !
The front desk was nice, they communicated in a polite tone, privately. This made me feel comfortable. Service and testing is fast. I love it here. Thank you Dr.Gerardo 🙌🏼 and AHF medical staff. Highly recommend!
This lab was located in a cute little consignment shop in the heart of the LBGTQ community. I was able to come in and get thoroughly tested for everything and even took a rapid test free of charge. Please remember to take care of your health and stay safe. God bless and Gratitude to the beautiful staff. Peace ✌️
My visit at AHS was completely comfortable and informative. They treated me with such compassion that I couldn’t stop talking about it. From the receptionist to the phlebotomist everyone was so kind. I was so nervous when I came in but my anxiety was eased throughout the whole process. Thank you AHF! I will never hesitate to recommend someone to this location.
I had a horrible and uncomfortable experience while at the testing site . I was in line patiently waiting to get called. The person at the front desk called me and he asked how can I help you. I replied that I was here for the HIV testing and another worker named Zammora was next to the man who was helping me and she said no, it’s too late since it was 5 minutes until they actually stopped taking people for the day. The front desk guy ( Diego ) said no, I’m taking him and Zammora replied and said to him well you’re doing it . I’ve never in my life felt so uncomfortable. For one, my anxiety is already on high and my emotions are everywhere because im getting tested for HIV and for Zammora to have such an attitude and make the comment she did right in front of me was very uncalled for an unprofessional. A simple im sorry we are done today but here are the hours for tomorrow would have been just fine . Diego was awesome. He helped me and was able to see me that day he made me feel comfortable. I hope that she isn’t doing that to other patients.
This is the second time i was bamboozled by this organization... Just go to Abounding Prosperity on MLK. They provide the same service. I go annually to advocate and know my status, they were more efficient and I felt more welcomed in the environment. The staff are truly compassionate you can tell they are doing this because they want and not for a pay check...Based on my experiences I feel AHF is for a certain crowd and everyone else is just tolerated.
They are open 11am-6pm. The hours are correct!(Unlike silly, seemingly made up reviews on here that attempt to claim the contrary)Super quick visit, everything is free, results back instantly. Great place for a routine checkup!A truly legit place to get tested in Dallas
This truly would be a great service is y’all provided accurate results to patients. Incorrect test results were provided that then lead to some serious anxiety and unnecessary panic. When going to the actual doctors office after receiving results it turns out that the results provided by this clinic were either completely incorrect or they were someone else’s results. This could be a great service but it’s frightening how incorrect these results were. This can lead to mistreatment if the infection and unnecessary antibiotics. If these results were mixed up then someone else out there needs to be treated and they have no clue they’re spreading. Disappointed.
Staff not too friendly but services provided at no cost is great! You can also browse through a thrift shop while you wait and find some pre-loved goodies 😊
Not sure what’s going on here but their hours online do not match what they tell you in person once you have driven all the way across town to get there.went to the on one forest Ln at 6ish and was told they were closed Apparently they only take the first 50ppl. Ok that’s fine, So then I tried the cedar springs location on a Friday at 4:30pm only for them to say they were closed. They literally covered up the barcode you are suppose to use to register as I was walking up. I was really confused bc online & the card I was given says 2pm-6pm And doesn’t specify “first 50 patients” for the cedar springs location like it does for the forest lane location. So y would u guys be closed before 6pm (at the cedar springs location on a Friday)? I posted the card so it helps others because I’ve tried BOTH locations 5 separate times within their hours provided and got turn away each time.
Neat place and awesome that its free but the wait is awful, so expect to be here for 1.5 to 2 hours as they take a while before youre called up. Busy at all times of the day.
Within 3 days received my test results. Some staff could be more friendly but overall clean and fast service. Thanks!
Jeremiah - was very quick with drawing blood, staff is very nice and friendly. Wait isn’t as long as estimated
I had a great experience and i felt very comfortable talking with Diego about my concerns! Everyone was very nice thanks again
Was really easy to get tested Opens at 2pm . I was literally in and out . I have no insurance but they still saw me and the staff was kind and awesome! If you need to get checked I recommend! It was free and test results are text or emailed through website .
The environment is very nice and welcoming for all sexual orientations. It’s shares a space with a thrift shop and that is very nice over all 100/10
Excellent experience all the way around. I mean, let’s face it, who likes getting tested? No one! But, they make the process smooth and easy and, if you need treatment, just as easy. No shame in the game, just get it done!! And it’s free!!! Really… GET IT DONE!!!
Diego took his time was very through with explaining the process and so hospitable Thank you AFH crew .
I like most of the people there. There are 2-3 black young ladies there Chastity another. They treat me like brother. And hold me accountable.
Its sad that the good people who do the work are often overlooked because of corporate cliques and power abuse...its a facade our culture has been held hostage and the thieves take what then need to appeal to our people so they can use it for their own gain...
Diego and the full team was amazing! So nice and personable ❤️
Had a great testing session with Zimora I will come back
So. Slow. Been waiting here for almost two hours!!!! Go somewhere else!
I’ve always been glad there’s non for profits that do this work for our community. This is probably one of the most interesting ones I’ve been to yet.
Its sad that good things are polluted by people with fading people skills and hate, in a place thats supposed to be a safe space....
Yes it shares space with thrift store but you get free testing. Please go ignorance is not bliss
Located inside the thrift store. Quick results and staff was helpful.
Front desk staff are rude, need to find a job that doesn’t require providing customer service.
Very nice fast n respectful
Staffing is rude, lie about the hours so they can sit around, saying they close @ 5 when they actually close @6
Quick results
Cool the employees are very friendly
