Unfortunately, my experience was disappointing. When I arrived for my appointment, I discovered it had been canceled a few hours earlier because the midwife was called for a birth. I asked if another provider could see me, but was told that the other doctor was fully booked and I would need to reschedule. While I understand that you cant predict when births happen, I’m confused why the midwife’s patients weren’t covered during her on call period or why there wasn’t a backup plan in place for such situations. This can be particularly frustrating for those of us who take time off work or arrange childcare. If I book an appointment I think it is fair not to want to have to wait until three hours before to see If my appointment is canceled.Additionally, when I booked the appointment, the secretary didn’t verify my insurance coverage and simply said well just assume it is okay. I’ve always had insurance verification done in the past when I book appointments at another doctors offices, so this felt unusual and a bit careless.Given these issues, I will be seeking care elsewhere.
I could not have had a better pregnancy and birth experience than I did with Paige and Jess. They are truly amazing, so caring, kind, and empowering. I am so glad I chose to go with this clinic and would reccomend them to anyone in a heart beat. Every staff member from the moment you walk in is nothing short of exceptional. Thank you so much!!
I can’t say enough about my prenatal experience at this office! Dr Jenn Allen and Dr Hayes are such a great team if midwives. I came here after having two kids at a different clinic and one that was high risk. I had a lot of concerns and Jenn was so knowledgeable that It made my 3rd pregnancy the best one yet. Make sure to interview providers before choosing one and I say choose A Women’s Place!
Jess and Paige are truly miracle workers! They provided me with incredible care throughout my pregnancy and birth. They always centered my autonomy and helped me to make the best choices at an incredibly difficult time. They kept me and my baby safe physically and emotionally. They treat birth with a great deal of care and respect, as the sacred event that it is. I highly recommend this practice to anyone looking for a supportive and warm, holistic, and medically proficient nurse midwife practice. In my opinion it was the best choice for me and my baby. And bonus: they are very LGBTQ inclusive, and included my partner throughout the process.
I could not be more thankful for the care my family received from everyone at A Woman’s Place, from the nurses to the office staff everyone is wonderful. I transferred half way through my pregnancy and it was the best decision I ever made. This was the most amazing and wholesome medical care I have ever received on my life. My appointments were never rushed and my questions were always answered with such thorough detail so that we would be able to make educated decisions. After transferring we looked forward to our appointments as if the nurses had become our friends. I felt truly loved and genuinely cared for. Thank you all! I can’t wait to continue care and for my next babies to be delivered by a Women’s Place ❤️
A Women’s place is amazing! I had a terrible experience at another establishment.. I was referred to A Women’s Place and honestly it was the best decision I could have made for the second half of my pregnancy! These midwives care and they spend the time to really get to know you and don’t just rush through appointments. I felt by the end of my visits there that they were more like friends.I had minor complications and they addressed them and made sure that myself and my baby were safe . My labor was awesome and was seen through by Jessica and Paige. A 3 day labor meant I had the pleasure of using two amazing women to guide and assist every step of the way.Paige was amazing coaching me through until my baby boy joined the world.I just Cannot say enough good things about a women’s place from the front desk staff to everyone else it’s amazing!!
Jessica Gefre at Woman’s Place is absolutely the best. She listens and cares about her patients. I highly recommend her.
Review as of 12/2023-Some points if you’re like me and completely combed reviews for where to go for your prenatal care/delivery:*P.S. Make sure you read recent reviews that reflect current providers*1. We have a healthshare reimbursement plan (not insurance) and the staff has been more than willing to work with us, and it has gone very smoothly. Old reviews about front desk people are so off to me— they have been wonderful and sweet.2. I am a first time mom who wanted an unmedicated birth with freedom to move and not be monitored constantly or push on my back… I have heard so many stories from women with bad experiences in the hospital who had originally wanted similarly to me. I can enthusiastically say that Paige was really incredible at my birth, and completely supported my birth plan. It was the most peaceful birth! My doula said she was very impressed with Paige and that she would deliver with A Woman’s Place for her baby :)3. I walked through a miscarriage last year, thyroid stuff, and had a few (potential) complications with my baby during this prenatal period so I have seen how Paige and Jess have navigated all of these things with compassion and competency. Their connection within the UC Health system was nice to be referred easily if there was anything they wanted a second opinion on, or labs drawn, etc.4. Going to a smaller practice was great because I got to know the midwives personally- they spent a lot of time with me each appointment and were always willing to answer questions in depth. I felt really confident in whoever would be on call for my delivery.I will absolutely continue to seek care here for future kiddos!
I was a patient at A Womans Place between 5 and 6 years ago, and I loved it. The intimate feeling of the clinic, the wonderful staff and the patient/doctor relationship was fantastic. Since then i have moved away and there has been a change in staff, however, I came back to visit family for the holidays and had a gynecological emergency and called to see if I could get in, even after not being seen there for over t years. They got me in immediately, the midwife (Mandy) was extremely friendly, and thorough. She did her due diligence in listening to me, going out of her way to call me and gather all the details of my issue, and getting me the help I needed. And while I was there, the nurses remembered who I was and came by the room I was in to just give me a hug and say hi! It honestly felt like a warm family reunion. This place is great.
I LOVE A Womans Place! I have had 3 babies over the past 4 years with them and have had nothing but amazing experiences with them! I love that the office is not huge and you get to see the doctor and midwives. Feels like you are known and truly cared about! The staff is friendly and kind, super helpful when I have ever had questions. Dr. Hayes is incredible and knowledgeable. She delivered my first baby and when we saw the cord was around my babys neck she was direct and told me exactly what needed to happen to get both me and my daughter safely through the delivery. Jennifer Allen delivered the other two and they were completely different experiences, but I felt so safe and in capable hands! I recommend A Womans Place to all my friends!!!
I can’t say enough good things about this practice. A friend recommended them to me after we miscarried twins in 2018 and we were disappointed with our care at the other practice we attended. Jessica and Dr. Hayes met us with individualized care and extended a very sincere and warm compassion towards our situation. This practice became my home for all of my women’s care needs. They saw me through a 4 year infertility journey and just recently, they safely delivered my twin girls in 2021. We have been through difficult and anxious days in regards to my women’s care and this practice made us feel safe and at ease. They give you time, they listen, they are not in a hurry, and they practice from the heart. Everyone from the front desk staff to the nursing staff to their hospital bedside manner is well above what is required or expected. Thank you A Woman’s Place for caring for me and for my family! There’s no better practice!
I have given birth through A Womans Place and continued my OB care there for over 2 years. I can honestly say they are the best OB/GYN clinic I have ever been to. From scheduling, ultrasounds, and wellness checks they genuinely listen to your concerns and create a detailed care plan that meets your needs. I highly reccomend this office for any one is looking for a kind non-judgmental office to meet your womanly needs.
Through our my pregnancy A Womans Place helped me with all my questions and gave a professional, kind, and caring response ever appointment. And during labor Mandy, and Victoria stayed with me and helped coach me through every contraction and pushing. I dont know what I wouldve done without them! Best care and made me feel like family.
I cannot say enough fabulous things about Dr. Hayes and the entire practice at A Womans Place! During my annual exam Dr. Hayes was incredibly thorough and gave me more information about breast cancer than I had ever known. Since transferring care over to this clinic, Ive also had interactions with Jen Allen, the midwife on staff. She is also very helpful and informative. Both providers treated me as a person rather than just the symptom/illness they were treating. They arent just interested in prescribing medications and really truly care about their patients! They say great things come in small packages, and this clinic is just that. Small staff, great care!
A woman’s place was amazing! We worked with All three providers, Dr Gefres, Dr Hayes, and Mandy. We had a horrible experience at a different clinic in Fort Collins and decided to switch at 20 weeks. We are so glad that we did. The providers cared to listen to us, explained to us exactly what each test, appointment and situation was and took as much time with us as needed. I am so happy with this place, I actuallyMiss them! Our delivery didn’t go “as planned” but they were there for us all the way thru and made it such a memorable relaxing experience. We can’t wait to see them again one day for baby #2. Thank you for turning our negative experience at the previous clinic around and helping us to enjoy the rest of our pregnancy. I highly recommend a woman’s place…..I have referred lots of people here and they all have had a great experience!
I absolutely love both Jennifer & Karen Hayes! I saw Jennifer a lot more for my check ups and she made me feel so comfortable about everything she’s so personable. Dr. Hayes delivered my baby and it went so smoothly. She is awesome and knows what she’s doing when it comes to making labor easier. I moved away from Fort Collins, but I still contemplate driving 45 minutes just to have them as my doctors.
I had a wonderful experience with Mandy and Jess! I ended up needing a C-section, which they prepared me for mentally before I went into the hospital. Mandy was very supportive, kind and attentive. Because my husband had COVID, this complicated the stay at the hospital but Mandy advocated for my family the whole visit and did what was right by us! She made our complicated experience a positive one!
I have been going to this office for ten years. My husband and I had the best experience during my pregnancy. We saw both Dr. Hayes and Jen during our pregnancy and were extremely comfortable knowing we could have either deliver our baby. During our labor we had to have an unplanned c-section and Dr. Hayes was with us explaining everything the entire way. She even took the time after with us to explain what happened and why we had to have the c-section and answered any questions we had to make us feel more comfortable. I cant imagine going anywhere else for our next pregnancy. Thank you for all your hard work at this office!
I met Dr Karen Hayes almost 10 years ago. She was taking care of a friend of mine, that had her baby die just a few short hours after being born. The compassion, the fact she prayed with us, the patience with us all, the calming strength she showed through this very hard time made me want her for my OB/GYN if I could be lucky enough to get pregnant. I had 2 high risk pregnancies and she was amazing through both of them. She has been willing to counsel us, support us, pray with us, stand beside us through the good and the bad over the last 9 years. Dr. Karen Hayes has been very professional and solid in her knowledge and up-to-date with my treatment needs both during my two pregnancies and since. She had always taken the time to discuss the best options for my care and doesnt make me feel like I am just a time slot that she has to hurry through. She is a valuable member of the medical community in this area and we are blessed she chose this profession and location!
I wish I could rate this place more than 5 stars! Victoria made sure I had the birth of my dreams! I wanted a completely natural birth and they didnt look at me like I was crazy. It was my first so obviously my expectations were high and actual experience low but I knew what I wanted. Victoria and Jessica made sure I was informed and felt comfortable every step of the way. I left the hospital feeling strong, empowered and untraumatized. My birth story makes people jealous and I have A Womans place to thank for helping to make that happen!
Dr. Hayes and midwife Jennifer Allen are the best at what they do. From the beginning of my pregnancy to delivery time the providers at AWP made me feel well cared for. I never felt rushed, they always took the time to answer all of my questions and provide me with the best possible solution for my problems. Dr Hayes is so knowledgeable and always takes the time to make sure that your plan of care is invidualized to your needs. She is so dedicated to her patients and is a wonderful advocate. I highly recommend this wonderful practice!!!
Dr Karen Hayes is extremely knowledgeable and sincerely cares about her patients. I know Ill hear honest opinions, recommendations and concerns while still being respected for the choice I ultimately make regarding my health care. She prioritizes appropriately and when there is an emergency, you better believe shell be there for you (which is why Ive never minded the few times Ive had to wait a while for an appointment). I have never been able to trust a doctor as much as I have trusted Dr Hayes. The office staff are usually very friendly and organized, willing to help when needed. I highly recommend Dr Hayes and her staff!
Mandy Tanner was a wonderful medical provider during my first visit. She was kind, knowledgeable and made sure that I was comfortable and aware of her movements throughout my procedure. I really appreciate her level of consideration and clear passion for the field she’s working in!
Dr. Hayes is absolutely amazing!!! After a few years of infertility, she helped us determine what the problem was. She met me at the office every other day for two weeks to determine if I was ovulating - even on weekends!!!! How many doctors would do that??? Then when I did get pregnant, I received better care than I could have imagined. She is truly passionate about people and babies and I always felt like more of a friend than a patient. There were several times I had to wait a while before she came in because she cares so much about her patients and wouldnt let time be an issue, but it was worth the wait to know how much she cared. I would highly, highly recommend her and A Womans Place!!! (P.S. Their staff is also amazing!!)
I have been a patient of Dr. Hayes for over 10 years now. When I started searching for a provider, I was drawn to her smaller practice because I didnt want to be seen in a clinic where I might be treated by a different doctor or midwife at each visit. The office staff is great, and its nice to feel like family there. Dr. Hayes and Susan Bush delivered my first child 3 years ago, and now Im expecting another baby this summer. I wouldnt choose anyone else to journey through this with me. Dr. Hayes is so helpful and interested in assisting me in making informed choices. She has gone above and beyond to educate me and give me options in planning for this birth.
Jennifer Allen is by far the most caring and knowledgeable health care provider I have ever met. I would go to her for all of my health care needs if I could! She delivered my daughter and it was a great experience with her and the entire office. I also have confidence in Karen Hayes as a provider if she had been on call when I delivered. I couldn’t recommend them more!
Such an amazing office. I just moved up north from Denver and they were able to get me in the next day. They made the whole process so smooth and easy. I saw Mandy, and she was so thorough and took the time with me to go over all of my medical history and answer any questions. She was the kindest provider I have ever seen. You can tell they all genuinely care, especially the provider. I am so glad I found this office.
Ive had four kiddos delivered by a Womans Place of Fort Collins and cant say enough about the quality of care, competency, and up-to-date medical knowledge that Dr. Hayes offers to her patients. She always takes the time to go over things during your appointment, you never feel rushed or hurried through with her. Ive always enjoyed the staff that she surrounds herself with as well. They seem to share her patient priorities and reflect a warm, caring, people-first environment. Love this place!
I have been seeing Dr. Karen Hayes and Jennifer Allen for many years and have had exceptional service! They are the most professional, caring women in the business. It is rare to find professionals who take so much time to discuss issues with you these days and who go out of their to make sure you are satisfied and comfortable. I have never had to wait to be seen when visiting. This is the most efficiently run, happy business I have ever been to, in terms of a doctors office. In fact, it never feels like I am visiting a doctor when I go, it feels like I am visiting other women who care about me, who are really there to help me become a more happy healthy person.I was also a high-risk pregnancy case and worked with both Susan Bush and Dr. Hayes and was really scared. They both treated me as I wish anyone in my situation could be treated. It was as if my mother could have been there! I am sorry if someone else has a hard time with their receptionist one time - I think that sort of thing happens on occasion for doctors and for patients and it is unfortunate. However, it is NO reflection on the medical professional providing the actual services! My daughter was delivered without any issues and is healthy and beautiful and a joy to this very day! I am so grateful! I am more healthy due to all of the women at a Womens Place - Thank you so much for devoting your career to us! I also love that there is now a registered dietitian associated with their office.
I LOVE Jennifer Allen. She is by far my favorite OBGYN I have ever had. She is knowledgeable, accepting of different relationship norms, enthusiastic to help, and not condescending when she has to explain. She is young, hip, and eager to make her clients feel comfortable. Im so sad I had to switch insurances and she is no longer covered in my plan.I did however accidentally get scheduled with another doctor at this clinic once, and was NOT a fan.
This place has really gone downhill since my wife first found it. Jen was as amazing midwife and helped deliver our baby, but then one day she was just gone, they wouldn’t tell us where or how to even get ahold of her to say thank you. Since then, Dr. Hayes has been unhelpful and impossible to get in touch with over some serious issues my wife was going through, and to top it all off the ladies that work at the front desk are stuck up and rude. You’d think that somebody hired to interact with pregnant women in a customer service position would actually possess some grace and caring. Their literal job is to work with women who are at a very vulnerable time in their lives, so maybe it’s time to replace the outdated receptionists. Do yourself a favor and find a clinic that acts like they care about their clients.
I had the best appointment of my life with Amanda Tanner! She is so caring, kind and helpful and made me feel so comfortable. The whole practice is amazing but Amanda is a true gem. Cant recommend her enough.
I cannot praise this place enough! I came into this place scared as my husband and I had found out I was pregnant and struggled with a miscarriage in my past and so nervous to go through a loss again. They not only comforted me but did everything in their power to make sure I would have a healthy baby this time around. Here I am now 8 months pregnant and the staff still goes above and beyond to make sure I am doing ok. They will call if anything is wrong with a test result or if they have any suggestions regarding diet and health no matter what day of the week it is or hour. My husband and I thank this place so much and love every single person from the front desk to the ultrasound staff and nurses to the midwives and Dr Hayes. I will never go anywhere else!
Ive been seeing Dr. Karen Hayes as my OB/GYN for close to 12 years now. She has done two of my surgeries and she delivered one of my children. She is an absolutely wonderful doctor-very personable, knowledgeable, thorough in every way. She listens well and makes you feel like youre her only patient for the day. I would highly recommend her!
I have been going to A Womans Place since 2007, after a bad experience with The Womans Clinic. I was definitely drawn to the smaller atmosphere, and the patient-centered care. At A Womans Place, I feel like I am treated like an actual person/patient, rather than another number. Dr. Hayes is amazing, and her dedication to her patients is even more so.
I absolutely love A Womans Place, Dr. Karen Hayes, and CNM Jennifer Allen. It is refreshing to see a medical doctor embrace and actually recommend alternative treatments (acupuncture, essential oils) vs just pushing pharmaceuticals. As a DO (Doctor of Osteopathy), Karen embodies the whole health philosophy and her practice reflects it. She has a registered dietitian in office, has paid for her staff to be formally trained in essential oil use, and houses a med-spa within her practice that provides massage and acupuncture in addition to traditional esthetician services. I have birthed 2 children now under Karen and Jennifer and I chose this small practice so I would know exactly who would deliver my children. They treat patients as old friends; you are often greeted with hugs. Karen never rushes during appointments and she makes you feel heard. She shares the most up-to-date research on issues affecting you and has an obvious passion for womens health. She has called me on weekends and after-hours to check-in on my pregnancies or with test results; similarly she has advised me to call her after-hours line for the same. I cannot recommend AWP and Karen Hayes enough. It is so comforting to not be just another file folder to a rotating cast of doctors who never get to know you personally. Her practice is just her and Jen, every day, every patient, every baby. What an amazing physician!!
Dr. Hayes was a terrific OBG. It was so nice to know that she would be the doctor that I would be seeing for my whole pregnancy would also be the same one to deliver my baby. I always had confidence that when she told me information that if I followed her orders everything would turn out ok. I ended up having a C-section and it was so reassuring that she would be the surgeon. I have a very small incision and the scar is minimal and best of all a beautiful baby boy! Thanks Doctor Hayes
Dr Hayes compassion, listening, patience, kindness, considerate care and written patient history was above exceptional! Her professional manner and patient care especially her thorough history and physical exam was beyond better than any GYN Physician I have ever experienced! .Her knowledge and discussion and explanations were extremely helpful and up to date. Thank you to Dr Hayes and her kind and professional staff. Above 5 Stars!
I am very unhappy with my experience here. The staff was great but my experience with their billing has been a nightmare! As other reviewers have stated, I too was convinced to do the genetic testing. I was hesitant to do it because I heard they were expensive and wanted to know how much it would be first. They assured me that it would only be $250 max but they would call me to let me know how much it would before continuing. They ran the tests anyways through a 3rd party company and no one ever called to tell me they were doing that or how much it would be. When I found out that they did I was a little annoyed but decided it wasn’t a big deal because I liked the dr and midwife so I decided to pay the $250. Turns out insurance denied the claim and I owed $2000! When I called the company they were “willing” to have me pay $650 which is still ridiculous seeing as how I wasn’t considering doing the test at all!! This test was done at the beginning of my pregnancy, my daughter is 3mo old now and I am still fighting this bill! It has been a nightmare and even though this office promised me it would only be $250 they ended up telling me they can’t do anything about it and it is my responsibility to pay it. I would not recommend coming here.
I just love A Womans Place! All the providers are very professional and carrying. The front office staff is so friendly and warm. I love that they are a small office with 1 Doctor and 2 Midwives and that I knew who was going to deliver my babies (twins) which is never guaranteed at a large clinic! I would highly recommend A Womans Place for all your gynecological and/or obstetric needs.
I went to Dr Hayes because Id heard she would be supportive of a VBA2C, and she was....till my 3rd trimester when she started making up reasons to not allow me a trial of labor. She had me schedule a csection date at 39 weeks and told me I couldnt go past. I told her I atleast wanted to go into labor myself. She refused. She told me my test results for gestational diabetes was high but I didnt believe her and asked the nurse for my numbers and they were normal. Then she said I might have GBS, but again I got my results from the nurse and it said negative. Just to clarify, she LIED about my test results. Then she said that since I was overweight, my body literally couldnt birth my baby (???) That was the last straw and i fired her after that appt. Getting my records took weeks of nasty phone calls with Pam and even a phone call from Dr Hayes asking why I was requesting my records. I tried to find another doctor but no one would take me that late in my pregnancy. When I finally got my records, I was missing over half of them. When I called to try to get all of them I was denied and told to stop calling. All of my test results were gone and the last few appts were as well. Convenient. I am writing this to warn pregnant mothers that this doctor does not have your best interests at heart. Also, like many other reviews, pam was horribly rude to me and my husband, at every opportunity. I am truly surprised that she still works there. I can not, in good conscience, wait any longer to write this review, and hope others are saved from my experience. By the way, my body birthed my precious, 9 lb girl with no issues at 42 weeks. Thanks for nothing but stress, womens clinic.
Exceptional care for those expecting.Dr. Hayes is on call , and works from Poudre Valley Hospital.
Absolutely the best physician I have ever met. For 10 years now and a perfect delivery of my baby boy, I would highly recommend Dr. Hayes. She has an incredible attention to detail and a warm heart. She looks at your total wellness and health. She keeps your best interest at heart.
I had a terrible first experience at this place and Im posting a bad review because no one was willing to listen/work with me. I went here because I had new insurance that wouldnt cover my brand name birth control, so I tried the generic for a month and it made me sick. I went here to talk to a doctor to see if they could work with my insurance company to help me get the prescription I know works well for me.Here are the list of problems I encountered from a single visit:1. Waited 45 minutes to see anyone2. The PA who came in to speak with me didnt make me feel at all like she cared what I had to say and she clearly didnt look at any information before she came in the room because she asked if I was 19 (Im 26).3. After dealing with my insurance refusing to cover the prescription I wanted I settled for the next best option recommended by the PA, BUT they called in the wrong prescription 3 times before they finally got it right. They didnt call it in soon enough before I ran out of birth control and am currently having to turn to alternative methods until I can start the new pack.4. I got a statement for $250 in the mail (insurance covered $80) for a CONVERSATION. I called their billing representative to see exactly what I was charged for. The first time I called she said I was charged a new patient fee but wasnt sure exactly what the rest of the charges were for and that I would see a better description for when I got the actual bill in the mail (I didnt).5. Called again to have my bill explained to me and then she changed her statement to the $250 is what they charge for ALL new patients.Bottom line, I felt like I was taken advantage of. Ive heard of some people having better experiences but unfortunately mine turned into one of the worst if not the worst doctors visit Ive ever experienced.Ill definitely be sticking with my previous OB/GYN over 50 miles away and possibly filing a complaint with the BBB for the lack of clarity in the bill.
I will never go anywhere else! The NP is amazing she takes time to explain everything and actually helps get to the bottom of my issues instead of just throwing medicine at the problem. She has helped me so much!
Just switched to this office a couple months ago because I was not happy with the care at a previous practice. Dr Hays and Dr Gefre are amazing. They take their time and listen to your concerns, very patient and friendly. The staff here are wonderful. Had other doctors say nothing but good things about them. Definitely recommend this practice.
When pregnant, the doctor here recommended that my wife have some genetic tests done. Those tests have been a nightmare and Im still being billed for them over a year later! My wife was not given any paperwork and was under the impression that the drs office would be doing the tests. Instead they took a blood sample and sent it to a company called Progenity. The doctor said it would cost ~$200 but turns out that Progenitys services are not covered at all by our insurance and we were billed multiple times for totaling more than $2000.In addition to the billing issues, one of the genetic tests came back positive on my wife. A Womans Place didnt notify us until we had a regular visit and explicitly asked about it! We assumed no news is good news and were shocked to hear that they had the results and just never did anything about it. We never received the actual test results themselves (the nurse just verbally told us about them and Progenity wont mail them to us). They recommended that I (the dad) get tested for that specific genetic disorder and assured me that my testing was FREE. Well guess what, it wasnt and Im now being billed for that as well.My wife is finding a new office and will not return here. I recommend staying away from this practice and Progenity. What a mess
I went in for an appointment and had an IUD ordered. I was originally supposed to be an exam but it essentially turned into a consult to order the IUD because they wanted to bill a couple things together. I got the bill from my insurance provider about a week later and the price for the ~5 minute appointment was very high. I saw a nurse, not a medical doctor, so to me the price wasnt worth the visit.I called about a week before the appointment to cancel and let them know the reason was because of the high cost of the office visit (I would have had to pay for 2 more visits had I gone through) Should have been simple, right? After the receptionist hung up on me, I got a few calls from people in the office. The first call I picked up and was from Keri and she wanted to confirm that I did in fact want to cancel. I said yes and explained to her that the appointment was too expensive and I was going to get it done at another office. She called again and this time I got the voicemail. I called the office back but Keri was seeing a patient so I asked for a call back and never got one. This morning I got a call from Pam, the office manager, and she said that they would be billing me for the IUD that was never put in. They were going to bill the full amount of $750. That sounded like insurance fraud so I immediately called my lawyer for advice. Next, I called the insurance company and they said that A Womans Place cant bill them for an IUD that was never put in. They said they would reject any claim A Womans Place tried to file and also file an internal complaint against them so it would go on record.I had the insurance representative call over to the office but she was unable to reach Pam. But the representative did talk to someone else in the office who said that I cancelled the appointment because my insurance wouldnt cover it. I then worked to verify their claim that the IUD couldnt be returned. So I called up Bayer and they said that the IUD could absolutely be returned if the package is unopened. I cant verify whether it had been or not but I never went to my appointment so it should not have.Once I had this information, I called my insurance company back and they called A Womans Place again. They got me on the line and I was able to speak to Pam. She said that someone in the office (but failed to identify a single name, just named the names of the people I spoke to) said that I had cancelled my appointment because insurance wouldnt cover it. Which is untrue because my insurance company has it on record that I called twice before my appointment to verify that the procedure would be covered. The problem is that A Womans Place didnt bill my appointment as preventative (which covered 100%) like they should have and thats why I received a high bill in the first place. Pam also said that she had tried calling several times and couldnt get in touch with me. I did try to call Keri back the second time she called but never got a call back from her. The phone call today was the first time Pam personally reached out to me and it was to threaten me with a $750 bill. She wasnt happy that I called the insurance company first but I needed to get a neutral party involved as a witness. In the end, the issue was resolved but I lost over 3 hours of work today to deal with this. I give my insurance company 5 stars for the way they handled this situation. Im grudgingly giving A Womans Place 1 star (should be 0) for the way they handled everything. Whether or not the threat to charge me was real, it was a bad move on their part. Im in the process of submitting this information over to an agency that can look into their billing practices further to make sure that the services they provide match what they bill to insurance.
I have very good experience at Dr hayes office. She has been delivered my two babies. She is so kind, patient, and supportive. She held my hands when i panic during labor, comforted me. I will never forget that. She gives me very useful information about balanced diet and helped me to deal with gestational diabetes. I learned a lot from her. Dr hayes never pushed me to a c section even when i pushed for three hours during my first delivery. She was with me, held towel for me, so i can push better. For second delivery, it was at midnigt and it was a really fast one. Even that Dr hayes spent more than four hours at hospital with me and delivered the baby at six in the morning. She has to go to clinic and work at eight. Almost no sleep. i know this happens very often, since she is the only ob doctor at the clinic. Dr hayes spends all her time with patients and almost never have vacations. I feel really safe and lucky to be her patient.
I have been to A Womans Place twice and Ive never met the doctor. During my first visit the PA examined me and was one of the most abrasive, harsh, impolite people Ive ever met. I went again today and was seen by the midwife. I was taken back to a freezing exam room and left to wait for almost an hour in a thin gown before she came in and asked me all the questions the nurse had already asked. My examination wasnt as unpleasant as the first time I went, but I will not be returning.
I feel extremely confident in the care Ive received over the 7+ years from both Dr. Hayes and Jennifer Allen. Through the birth of my two daughters and annual visits, they have balanced honest, knowledgeable and compassionate care.
I’m writing a review because I was ignored multiple times from this clinic, and because I came to these reviews to help make my decision on where to go. So I hope you find this detailed story helpful…Originally, I chose A Women’s Place because I was looking for a small clinic – one that wouldn’t make me feel like another number through the door. I also personally knew that hormonal birth control isn’t for me, so I was hoping that the Christian ties they boast on their website would mean that I wouldn’t be pressured to use something I wasn’t comfortable with. I read a few reviews right here and found mostly positive experiences, with a few negative ones mixed in…so I took the jump.My first appointment was a Well Woman exam, and from the moment I walked through the door, I knew it wasn’t going to be good.1. They somehow wrongly entered the time for my appointment, so I was waiting for almost an hour. It wasn’t until I asked about the long wait that they explained to me that the time for my appointment was incorrect.2. When I was in my appointment, I was barely through “I want to have a conversation about birth cont…” before I got, “Well have you heard about NuvaRing?! It’s really convenient and doesn’t take any effort.” After explaining that I wanted to go with a non-hormonal option and the reasons why, there was an immediate shift in posture, one that communicated to me disappointment in my choice. This to me is extremely unprofessional and the opposite of the experience I was hoping to have with a physician claiming to support women in many options.3. I went back another time to hopefully get my needs met for non-hormonal birth control. The appointment lasted no more than 7 minutes, and I was told I needed to schedule ANOTHER appointment to get the necessary items. I was then charged almost $100 for that 7 minute office visit. When I called back to talk to their office manager, she was extremely unaccommodating, rude, and wasn’t willing to hear my story at all. She told me that they provided a “service” (remember, the 7 minute “come back again” appointment) and had the audacity to tell me to make another appointment to get what I needed, when I could have gotten it during the 7 minute appointment.4. I worked with my insurance company (who was very helpful, by the way), and they walked me through the appeals process for them. Well, A Women’s Place has a rule that if you don’t pay by the end of the month from when your bill was issued, you will be charged an extra $50 per month. Most appeals processes can take up to 60 days to be seen through, which means that if your insurance company doesn’t end up paying, you will be charged an extra $50. This rules leaves no room for patient concern. In my experience, this is simply another business that takes advantage of women, particularly exploiting women in the healthcare arena. They will not advocate for you if you don’t agree with their rules or if you have any reasonable request outside of their original decision. This clinic makes it difficult to get the resources and information you need in a reasonable way, making you come in for multiple appointments to get simple things that shouldn’t even require an office visit. And for Christian women out there reading this, if you have strong convictions about your choice in contraceptives, they will be extremely disappointed with you if your choice doesn’t help them and the pharmaceutical companies make money. Proceed with caution.
Worst medical experience ever! Rushed every appointment. Cancelled one appointment and didn’t let us know. Talked us into genetic testing telling us that it would only cost about $200. We are now getting billed for over $3000! Told me I needed to find another provider that could monitor my blood pressure because they couldn’t. Said I was having a high risk pregnancy due to my blood pressure being slightly elevated. So I found a new provider. Turns out my blood pressure hasn’t been elevated and my pregnancy is not high risk. So glad I found another provider!
Worst experience Ive ever had!!!! I will never reccomend or go back there. It was my first experience and my first pregnancy and something that will always stick with me was when I called on call in early AM due to some complications the on call mid wife at the time was SO rude. Made me cry even more as I was already scared and I was up all night that night. I will never forget it. I never felt like I was cared for or listened too. The decisions I made were always questioned with my pregnancy for ex. Chose to do c section instead of flipping my breach. Took 3 apts for them to listen to me and my husband and what we wanted. After my daughter was born I had pretty bad PPD and I went back and was hoping to get some help. I was put on medication at a low dose and when it wasnt working after a month or more ( I gave it time) I went in and asked for a higher dose and was told no. So I left and got the higher dose from my PCP and it helped me get out of the woods. Do not go here if you are looking/shopping around.
I’m new to the area. I’m so happy I found this place and Dr. Tanner. I had some strange symptoms and I was so nervous to see a new doctor, but she and her nurse were both so amazing. They helped to calm my nerves, talked me through everything in detail, and didn’t make me feel rushed at all. I’ve been twice and been very happy both times.
If I could give a 0 I would. Karen Hayes made us very uncomfortable and was rude to both myself and my wife. She scared us as much as she could, and got very political with the current healthcare system. It was so bad my wife cried as we were leaving. Utterly disgusting conduct and disrespectful staff. The worst experience in health care ever.
A woman’s place helped me with everything I needed during my pregnancy. It was my first one and they assured me I was safe and my baby was safe. Dr Hayes and everyone there is so welcoming and I will definitely be coming here for my next pregnancy :).
Mandy took SUCH great care of me and made me feel so comfortable! The office is clean and inviting and the staff are so sweet. I left feeling educated and relieved about my situation!
Dr. Karen Hayes is AMAZING! Was going for a woman’s exam and felt so cared for by her and her team. She made me feel super comfortable! Would recommend her to anyone and everyone!
Arrived there last year with my pregnant wife in clear agony and pain along with 2 children. Filled out all the forms requested which took over 15 minutes. The front desk lady who later identified herself as the office manager insisted on filling out one last form. After seeing me hand the paper to my wife who could no longer even hold a pen and said she could not fill out this historical information form she insisted it had to be done without any appreciating for the situation at hand. Providing us with an ultimatum to fill it out it not be seen, we left. Her demeanor and sharp wording was clearly of a prejudice nature. Not surprising to see her smile and be candid with someone who was not wearing a head scarf. Simply put these are the unfortunately ignorant people that give the good people of Fort Collins a bad name. I heard no attempt or call from the Dr. we were supposed to see. May be the irony is in the name; in protest of how Hollywood portrays categorized groups of people.
Came highly recommended, but severely disappointed. First of all, theres a beauty spa inside, which feels very superficial and commercial. After a meeting and an exam, I had some billing concerns/questions. The front desk staff talked to the doctor and let me know, basically, this is the way it is, if you dont like it, you can find another provider. Talk about being RUDE. I probably could have made it work, but with that attitude, I have no faith or trust left in the staff. Yes, I will find another provider.
I have a problem where I don’t get my period for months and months and I’m not pregnant. I went to many other places and couldn’t get the help that I got here 3+ years ago (from the Dr./Midwifes). I came back to Fort Collins to be seen and find a solution, but when I called the first lady that answered the phone was nice and helpful...she put me on hold and a lady named Pam picked up. I would like to tell you Pam, you do not need to be rude. I told you that I have been to many offices and could not find a doctor to help with my situation and you twisted it to make me feel as if no one is willing to take me in. I understand that I have a $262 balance from 3 years ago, but I offered to pay it with all of the collection fees to see if you could please take me back and you said call Northern Colorado...maybe they can. I even begged and said please see if there is anyway because I really need help...but all you said s “ha’ah no, go find somewhere else because we won’t take you back ever.” I don’t think you guys even read these reviews because I read through them and did not see a response...but I just want it to be known. If you have a heart that can hurt someone who is in need of help, and made it clear to you that they need help, you should consider yourself in their situation. You don’t know my history nor why I didn’t pay. You don’t know what life has put me through...if there is a policy the practice follows I understand, but it is not the end of the world if you reach a hand out to help. You could use a nicer tone, you could fake an apologetic tone, you could pretend to at least ask if it is possible if not ask for real....so many options! Lastly, We are all human and just trying to live...any company policy is not the constitution...it can be amended and it’s okay to be human and make mistakes and try to fix them and get/give a second chance. We ALL have a vulnerable situation in our lives.
Would give a 0 if I could. My gyno here was misogynistic, and despite only ever scheduling me around no other patients I always had to wait at least an hour to see her. If my partner came with me for a check shed be incredibly rude to him if she even talked to him. She was always rude to me and never actually fixed my issue in fact my new gyno says that her bandaid solutions were bad for me. Rude and short with me a complete waste of time.
Im definetaly not going to this place again. 1st. The doctors name was Jennifer and I really disliked the way she treated me. I told her personal infomartion about birth control and the fact that i am not taking birth control (i dont have or want to have kids) and I received lots of judgments from her. If you dont agree to something and specially if you are a doctor, the least you can do is respect the person.2nd. She gave me some time to get dressed and left me alone in the room, then I was done and dressed I left the room and I went to the restoom, she was talking to someone and I felt that she stopped talking to the other woman at the moment she saw me. It made me feel very suspicious. It came the thought was she sharing my personal info with someone else?3rd. Then when she talked about the different methods of birth control I asked her about the side effects and she mostly denied that a birth control gives a person side effects. She also sent the vibe that I was stupid for asking those questions. You know she gave me that look of when someone says something completly absurd and stupid. That urgh. It almost made me feel that she was selling those things. Look it up on google, birth controls give many side effects, some more so than others. Also, if its going inside of my body, Id be more stupid to not ask any questions! The only good thing about this place were the two recepcionists upfront. Nothing to complain about them. Superb. But the doctor, very unprofessional in my opinion. It was my first time at this place and also the last.
Called to make an appointment for my sister-in-law she just moved here and doesn’t have insurance so she know she will be paying out-of-pocket. The receptionist told me that her first visit is going to be $300 for a confirmation test I asked what a confirmation test was and she says it’s a urine test, she already knows that she’s pregnant but there still going to charge her $300 for a urine test which is not needed. I asked her she Could skip this test because it is unneeded expense said no this is the way they do it and there’s no other way around it.
I saw Jennifer Allen and her nurse and Amanda and they were both wonderful!! So friendly and made me feel super comfortable! Would definitely recommend A Womans Place to anyone.
Ok so i want to tell all you ladies that are looking for a good doctor to help you with woman stuff or pregnancy DO NOT GO TO HER! I was told she was great and would help me with my insurance and let me tell you she did not help me at all during my pregnancy i also had to wait in the office a hour after my appointment time that i had set because i had other appointments and the receptionists were always rude and asked me for money before i even gave them my insurance card and were rude on the phone when i couldnt make it to appoinments, one of the nurses were nice but they were the only ones helping because doctor hayes would come in for 5 mins and give me paper instead of talking about things with me and this was my first child so i didnt know anything and she was very rude with my weight and health i was gaining alot of weight and i told her i wasnt eating very much and excerising like she wanted me too 5 times a day but everytime i came she would tell me i was getting fat and needed to excersie more and a week before my son was born she told me my son would almost be 7 pounds but when i had him he was almost 10 pounds and then she said well maybe thats why you were over weight and she was very bad with health stuff i was sick one day and all she did was send me to the hospital for a kidney infection and then came to find out i didnt have one, another problem was my birth she was also very rude when i would call her because i was worried about my body she would say please dont call me for pointless things look in your papers and the day i had my son i was in labor for 23 hours and for the last hours i started pushing and it was very hard for me and painful then it came down to a emergency c section and that was very scary because i wasnt prepared for it and during surgery she had accidently cut my intestines while getting him out and then when it came down to cleaning my stomach out and stiching me up she let a person i didnt know do it and she was not a doctor and i was freaking out, then after that i was getting a infection inside my belly from my intestines leaking and building up and i was getting very sick and couldnt eat so 2 weeks later i had to have another surgery from it and was getting blood and antibodics for 2 weeks in hospital but all this was a horrible experience and regret going to her and wanted to tell all you women please look for other obgyns please!
I had a complicated and drawn-out miscarriage. These people would not answer or return my calls, even on their emergency line. Would not recommend. Very traumatizing for me.
