Purchased a mirror from this location, couldnt take it with me, i asked if I could pick it up later, the manager said he would hold it in the back until I come back. The manager looks it over, then he slams it face first on the counter in front of me, miraculously it was not damaged, but when i come back 5 minutes later to pick it up, it was damaged. I have a feeling it was damaged intentionaly. No way the damage pictured was an accident, as its an inside edge. Its a shame, it was a beautiful antique mirror.
I was so happy to be shopping here today with a staff that was welcoming and shared a warm vibe with me. From the kind greeting and answering of my questions to checkout with Jas reminding me of the dollar rack stating the other location is open for another hour (music to me ears). No doubt I will be back for more as I feel my 1 hour drive is a non issue based on my seamless experience today!!! Thanks for the memories!
Can you say shop! Out the the Closet is a thrift store serving the community in the Fort Lauderdale area. It provides gently used merchandise that is donated for those in need of economical options. You will find a mixture of clothes and furnishings to peruse. There can be some real finds like sequin outfits you may not be able to find elsewhere. Go gurls, you may just find the ruby red slipper.
I wish the service were as noble as the mission.I dropped off some items for donation. After some scrutiny and questioning, I was allowed to unload my donations. I did read the list of unacceptable items ahead of time. I was helping unload and the person that met me had the door showed me where to put them in the storage area. That’s when a manager comes in and asked what I was doing. It was obvious I was unloading donated items, but I articulated that to them. He snapped, “No, you’re not supposed to be back here, it’s a liability.” He then proceeded to chastise the person that met me at the car and called him a knucklehead.Totally understand the need to have rules, but perhaps handle customer & employee interactions with a bit more grace. I’ll donate where it’s less hassle and less intimidating.
A great place to shop with wonderful lightly used items, new items and a great selection of Christmas and gift items.Staff are friendly and it supports a wonderful cause.Dont miss this gem of a thrift store. Here are a just a few items I bought.
I was considering donating to this location but after reading all the terrible reviews regarding this person Bill (assistant manager) greeting you with such a negative attitude and sounds like sometimes a bit hostile. I think it’s safer to look for another organization to do my donating. This is truly disappointing. As a business owner myself I know first hand having a good staff representing my business and brand are key to the success of my business. I hope that after all these negative experiences your customers have had you have since then made better decisions on who you have representing your wonderful organization.
I was having second thoughts about Florida and living here lately until today. I made my way over to Wilton Manors and found Out of the Closet Thrift. Being that I came from Atlanta I knew this shoppe and went in. Ari, who is probably the nicest man Ive ever met made my day. Not only is he friendly but the care he took with wrapping the purchase I made was unheard of..... Hi personality, the selection in their shoppe, and just the atmosphere will make me want to come back every chance I get! What good work you all are doing, and I just wanted you to know Ari, you turned my day around and made all the doubt in my head dissipate away. Thank you.
The staff here SUCKS! They are bitter because they are not relevant anymore. I think they nust have terrets syndrome because they all were making strange bird noises. Very odd people
Lots of second hand gems and treasures to be found here. Went to look for pride ideas and left with their pride fan 😍🌈 great deals everyday of the week just pay attention to the colored sticker/tag deal of the day. You can also sign up for the loyalty program too!
I just love this store! The prices are fantastic and the items i like are as if they had never been worn or ever been used and all the guys are super friendly! You simply must stop by when you are in Wilton Manors.
Best thrift store in the area with fun, friendly staff. You can drop your donations off at the side door on the east side of the building. Just ring the bell and someone will come help you to unload or you can just hand the person the items.Clothes, furniture, vintage jewelry, glassware, books, pottery, cds, etc.Always getting new stock put out daily.
Awesome thrift store with a good cause. I cant vouch for the pharmacy because I havent used it, but the store is always clean and organized and the staff is always kind and accommodating. Ive been able to get all sorts of things including clothes, bookends, drinkware, and even a $3 computer monitor that have made my move back to Florida so much easier.
Beautiful items always avaiable. Havent been to this location in a few years, but thankful I decided to come back. Great associates and wonderful selection. Prices are fair for the condition of the items. Always a positive experience
Average thrift store.Sometimes, they have nice stuff.Prices are random (sometimes insane sometimes unbelievably low). Some staff is nice.No parking space.
The store is fine, good selection. My rating is based on my multiple experiences donating household goods and clothes. The older guy (manager?) who frequently comes out to collect the donations is so rude. He shakes his head as if he’s disappointed and disapproving, saying “no no no” to many items in good shape. He acts like he’s doing me a favor by accepting anything, as if he’s paying me or something. I understand the store doesn’t need certain items, but he doesn’t need to be rude about it.
Bill R (or B) is very rude and unpleasant. I love out of the closet and I have been shopping and donating there since I moved to the city. This morning I stopped by to drop off a small bag of clothing and I when the door swung open I was met by Bill who immediately started barking at me about leaving stuff outside (which I wasnt) and how I was there too early (it was 9:55, I was unaware they begin taking donations at 10:00). I feel there could have been a better way to handle the situation rather than opening the door guns a blazing with a nasty attitude. I see from the reviews that I am not the first person to have an issue with this individual. I am always treated with kindness and respect at Pavarellos, perhaps that is the better choice for my donations going forward.
This is a gem in Wilton Manors.. Its a fun place to check out and I usually find a unique and cute item here. Friendly staff too.
Samson is amazing and super helpful. I LOVE this store. The prices are extremely good and selection is great for housewares. Youre sure to find a gem.
Very helpful, I have bought some really great stuff in there. And very good quality, thats all they put out on the floor. Ive bought furniture, lots of t-shirts, shorts, and pants. Lots of belts, pots and pans, and pictures too. Also a really beautiful lamp. The great thing about Out Of The Closet is that every time you go in there, they have new stuff. The inventory is ever changing. I love this store and you will too. Also the staff is very friendly and helpful. Once they have seen you a few times, they give you really nice 😁 smile. Great place!!!!! 😍
Both locations are a treat to visit! The offerings vary, but the service is the same. As you enter the stores, you are greeted with a warm welcome from the staff. Every effort is made to ensure that you find everything you need. They are quick to provide helpful tips, remind you of upcoming sales, offer clothing coordination advice if requested, very courteous, light-hearted, and knowledgeable. Its always a pleasure shopping at Out of the Closet. Thank you all for your amazing service. Keep up the great work!!
Place is clean and well organized, lots of cloth, shirts, pants etc. Good brands and items are usually in good condition.Usually staff is nice and cool but there is one that has a bad attitude, I visit the store very often and not once he has smiled or been nice with me he always has a large face, like he hates his job.On the other hand items are expensive sometimes even more expensive than new items, for example a small dog bed for $30, a 40 LCD TV for $300, a small salt and pepper shaker for $10, sometimes there is a good find for a good price but usually going there is like going to a store in Aventura Mall.
Out-of-the-closet in Wilton Manors is an amazing thrift store with great finds, great prices, and great workers. While selecting wonderful finds you are also helping fund AIDS Healthcare Foundation and the local community. This is the place to find upscale clothes/merchandise or regular everyday hang around clothes with the most pleasant folks working the floor. The spirit is warm and inviting, yet not invasive. You couldn’t ask for a more helpful team. It is an experience just to drop in. If you are lucky enough to be there when Paul is there, you will encounter a gracious human being, who cares about helping you and going the extra mile. He is extremely knowledgeable about the merchandise and forthcoming with ideas and suggestions. I will make time to check out this store every time I’m in town.
One of my favorite thrift stores in the area. Usually clean and organized. Find some gems in the furniture and menswear sections every now and then. Glad the profits go to an important cause. Will keep coming back, if they keep adding items.
Every business in the world should learn from this place in customer service. They greet you with a smile and make you feel welcome. Kind and very courteous. They value their customers. They take care of the business. Store is clean with a wide variety of choices from books, DVDs, clothing, sporting goods and other great stuff as well. A++++++ all the way.
We love this place. The workers are always nice and there are always unique clothing and furniture and kitchen supplies, etc. Everything is organized and I really missed coming here during the whole covid stay at home time. I do hope for more options of womens clothing though. Otherwise we love supporting the cause especially for awesome and affordable finds.
I really enjoy and appreciate this store. The items and facility are always clean and tidy and staff is awesome. Odds-n-ends place where I can always find stuff I need at very reasonable prices ($25 Keurig). Usually stop by a couple times a week because stuff comes and goes quickly. Thanks Out of the Closet for being so good. Your customers appreciate it!
Turned away from making donation by Assistant Mgr Bill R. ( Not Interested, were his exact words, no Furniture, no kitchen items, only Art and Frames).Apparently they are too full, so I will donate to a Organization that will appreciate it!
Always love it here. Clean and organized. Free HIV/STD testing and other AHF services. Love knowing my $$ going to help with those. Ooh and best thing, right now (10/11/18) all books are $1!!!!
There is a reason this line of stores is called the “the world’s most fabulous thrift store” and it is because it is simple put just that. I make all my donations here as well as my friends and families who aren’t as close as I am. I have given them some great stuff and then I have bought some great things from them. Mainly DVDs and the occasional designer label in amazing condition that they have come to be known for.
Love this place! The staff is always friendly, helpful, and attentive. They have a great selection of used CDs, DVDs, and vinyl albums, as well as funky furniture, gently used clothing, and a good variety of electronics, i.e., DVD players, flat screen televisions, assorted computer equipment, et al. The AIDS Health Foundation (AHF) is also located within this Out of the Closet location, offering HIV testing and other related services. Stop in & enjoy the welcome hospitality of manager Jose V. and his staff. You wont be disappointed.
Great shop and the volunteers working there are very upbeat. And, since I am a very hard to find size, it is always a joy to stumble upon a pair of pants in my inseam length- and esp at prices in the 4 and 5 buck range for Dockers!
Went to buy an item that was in the window an told not available for purchase. It is literally a resell shop. What?!? Rude customer service and a terrible experience.
Lovely place. Good Folk. If you are looking to refurbish your Violin this is a fair place to get it updated. Love the passion the owners have with music.
This is a truly fantastic store! Im hesitant to call it a thrift store simply because it is staged beautifully, the items are extremely good quality, the staff (especially Evan) were knowledgeable and helpful. Wide variety of items in a clean, beautiful store. Highly recommend!!
Really great store! Awesomely cheap. The staff is very friendly. They have all kind of stuff including jewelry, clothes (more on the mans side though), furniture, decor items, shoes, small appliances.
I live shopping at this store! The staff is always very friendly and helpful. The store is clean and organized and you can find some really nice items. I always go during the week and they have convenient parking.
Great, kitschy second hand store. Since it generates revenue for a HIV charity, it is heavily supported by the area LGBT community, so the clothing selections are usually fabulous. Their stock does fluctuate, but they usually have a good selection of clothing, furniture and nick-knacks.
Super friendly and knowledgeable pharmacy staff. Thrift shop is fun. Gave them furniture when I moved. Came with movers to pick up. Didnt lift a finger. Very professional.
Didnt find anything I couldnt live without and the Halloween stuff was a little pricey. Not much on sale either but helps the gay community. Offers HIV testing as well. Mostly a clean place and staff seamed friendly.
Out of the Closet is a great shop! The staff is so friendly. They have an excellent collection of clothes, furniture, home goods, and books. They have rotating sales too. You wont leave empty handed.
This is another exceptional place to buy secondhand merchandise. One of my favorite things about out of the closet is that the monies that they used for the store go back into AHF.I like to think of it as going back into our community although AHF does not have all of their ducks in a row
Great thrift store! Very clean and pleasant staff. Plus they offer sexual health services in the back so that you can go in and shop and get tested without everyone knowing. The selection of clothing is every growing and could apply to everyones taste
Used to be my fav thrift store but alot of items are rediculously over priced for being 2nd hand and freely donated . Although they help many people in our community I cannot see paying almost full price for used items.... Ebay they are not however they use eBay to price out freely donated items ... Clothing however you can still get great styles for thrift priced... Amazing staff and always a clean organized showroom
Great place to second hand shop for great quality items at a reasonable price. All with the knowledge your supporting AHF and helping people live their lifes to the fullest. Give it a SHOP and lend a helping hand.
I love this store and the great work that they do. Shopping here not only gives you great product at the best prices but you are helping a great cause for those in need. Go shop my friends!!!
I love this place.. The employees are great! They welcome you with open arms every time and they dont judge your appearance or who you are, period! Nice clothes and shoes 💯
Amazing staff. Free HIV and STD testing.. awesome items found in the thrift store.. and the pharmacy fills your meds and 99 cents of every dollar goes to research.. I feel empowered everytime I come here to shop or fill meds because Im contributing to the cause.
I want to start by saying I love this place. Me and my man along with out other friends love coming here. We go almost every Sunday here. So on that point I would love to give it a 5, but here is why Im only giving it a one star. This past sunday (october 15th) we went in like normal and started browsing. I had found a couple shirts and a skirt and he had found one pair of pants. we were in line waiting what seemed like a while to try on the items. One person leaves the fitting room and he goes in. While Im waiting for the other one to open up a gentlemen comes and thinks he is gonna cut a head of me so I politely tell him that the line is over here for the rooms. He then said oh ok and got behind me. so the other stall frees up my man still in there getting the pants on I start to get undressed to put on the first item I have. I ask him if he was done he said yes just getting changed so i open my curtain so him and my friends can see what i had on. Well the guy behind me (the same one who just saw me walk in with the shirts and skirts in my hand) threw a fit and told the cashier i was in there way to long. I go back to put on the next piece of clothing i had, mind you i know the limit for trying on clothes at a time is 3. as im in there talking off the first shirt the cashier comes over with an attitude in his voice and says ive been in the for far to long. at this point my man was coming out of his and said no i havent and neither has she. We both just got in. The cashier wanted to sit there and argue that ive been in there for hours. When my friends chimed in the cashier still wanted to argue. My man went to tell the cashier what really happened and he had the nerve to say Im just a cashier. This is the same person that when we went in a few weeks ago didnt jump down these people throats who had wayyyyyy more than 3 pieces of clothing and there was a huge line of people waiting to try stuff on. and of course you could hear the customers starting to complain and yet he did nothing. If you want to say your just a cashier instead of saying sorry when you found out the truth of what happened then stay exactly that, just a cashier. We all felt really offended and i almost was just gonna walk out of there. It was very rude.
The thrift selection is great and the atmosphere is relaxed. Mostly mens wear here so if you want womans go to their other location nearby.
I love this store . Have found some great clothing that are hardly used and at a great price . The entire staff is great and welcoming . please donate to Out of the closet .
I am very impressed by this place! The staff was very friendly and helpful. They offer free testing with fast results which put regular medical offices to shame. Great organization!
Out of the Closet is the undisputed king of thrift stores in the Wilton Manors area. There are perhaps 10 thrift/antique/junk shops with a 5 mile radius, but OotC is the champ. Its clean, neatly organized, the staff is very pleasant and often times treasures abound. Clothing is kind of a crap shoot, the sizes tend to skew to smaller sizes but that really just depends on what kind of donations that they get. The furniture and appliances are usually in pretty good condition and reasonably priced. Sometimes there will be a price thats a head scratcher but thats the same as any other thrift store. I snagged an almost brand new bread maker that still had its plastic stickers for about $15 and it works GREAT!.If youre clothes shopping check the tags, everyday there is a sale denoted by the color of the tag.It should be noted that there is also a pharmacy and HIV testing service available.
Best place and customer service I experienced from Frank outstanding it doesnt matter what you are looking for you will find it there for a fraction of the retail price bought beautiful chandelier mirrors pictures couch from Thomasville will always be a very loyal customer thank you and the most important its all for a good cause
What a great place. The staff is friendly, they have great savings and even though its a thrift store their selection is top quality on clothing and they carry many other household items.
I love this place. Appreciate the cleanliness and the cute things I’ve been able to find.
Interesting items! but when i tried to leave the door was locked so i unlocked it and an employee came up to me and said “if the door is locked it’s locked for a reason” ok is that reason to lock your customers in your store? that’s a fire hazard! it was so bizarre
These people have a mandarory mask to enter to the store. I am pro mask but they sell the mask for $1. The manager was more intereated in selling the mask than the safety of the people. This is only to make money. I just walked out.
Its nearly impossible to visit this store and not find something chic, cool or absolutely-must-have. Great people as well.
If not the most upscale thrift store I have ever experienced, definitely in the top five, along with its sister store on Sunrise Blvd, near the Gateway shopping center. The staff at both locations are very friendly and accommodating. The stores are well organized and laid out. Clothing racks look like rainbows (e.g., all the blue shirts are together within a size, as are all the yellow, green, etc.). The designer clothes are in a separate rack to make it easier for those looking only for more upscale clothing. Shoes are neatly displayed by size and style. They often change the displays to keep the store interesting. You can tell that some of the staff have interior design talent.Furniture is above typical thrift store condition, often displayed in a living room type setting with coordinating pieces.Books are sorted by subject, similar to a commercial bookstore.Electronics are often tested by the staff before being placed on display.Pre-recorded DVDs and CDs are competitively priced vis a vis other thrift stores and often on a Buy One Get One Free special when the inventory exceeds the shelf space. The stores will also frequently discount clothing, shoes, furniture, etc. when the overstocked donated inventory needs to be sold off quickly. There are two large, easy to access dressing rooms, a public bathroom and water fountain.Prices are generally reasonable for a thrift store, although occasionally items are overpriced, often more than the cost of buying new elsewhere, especially for consumables such as blank DVDs, light bulbs, stationery supplies, etc.All in all, the Fort Lauderdale Out Of The Closet stores are among the best options for thrift stores.
I Love Both Locations. I could browse the entire day away atOOTC. The products that they offer in their stores are absolutely amazing. And the Workers are FABULOUS........
Staff is generally very friendly. Goods seem to rotate pretty regularly so keep checking back if you are looking for something specific.
Come and experience a wonderful blend of interesting and sometimes fabulous clothes housewares, elecrronucs and furniture, knowing that the money they raise goes to the services so desperately needed by HIV patients of modest means.
This is a great little spot for some discount clothing and shoes and miscellaneous bric-a-brac. Very popular place, nice friendly staff. Definitely should stop by and check it out
The place smell mold so bad that i start sneezing the minute that i walk in.. come on guys. Its not just because they have old furniture that has to stink like that. Other thrift stores around dont smell like that.
As with all OOTC store great deals huge selection. Just one thing! I wish when I went I wouldnt buy so much!!
Awesome people, very friendly. Every time I visit the place I feel very welcomed. And their prices are extremely cheap.
I love this place. I went in and looked around and found a few items that I could use. In good condition. Cheaper than Goodwill. Salvation Army
Amazing place that supports the LGBTQ life and turkey cares about the community! I do not know of any of place that you can buy leather pants and get tested every day for free!!!
They have good items but they need to improve the employees. I dont get whats with the attitude when asked simple questions.
This other review smells of a former disgruntled employee or someone spurned by someone he associated with there. I have shopped here and found the employees to be pleasant, professional and courteous.
Great place. And the staff is very warm and friendly. Check them out! They do a lot for the community.
Excellent variety of home items. Still need to check out the clothing, but Im sold. Wonderful layout of the items as well.
Its a nice little place everythings fairly cheap but in fair to good condition they also have free condoms & do hiv testing but not for free tbh Im not sure how much they charge for the test.
I saw their truck in Oakland Park. This is a good reminder to go back and look for treasure.
The place looks amazing and a lot of great products and deals. The staff is super friendly
Clean, Organized, Cool Unique Finds. Never walk out empty handed. Clothes, furniture. Crazy piece of Art you cant live without!
With an ever-changing inventory and amazing prices this is the place to go for anyting vintage or even current... Sometimes you can even find brand new items.... I highly recommend it
Friendly staff and great prices. Whats not to love about this store? Will be back for more bargains.
Love shopping here, store always has great finds at great prices. Will return.
Great organization to donate to. Usually a little bit of everything. Not as clean as it used to be when they opened, but still nicer than most thrift stores!
I go there at least every week Im always finding something .love the people that work helpful and everything electronical is tested !
Awesome store, great customer service & a large variety of clothes, shoes, Knick-Knacks & furniture! I could spend hours just browsing! ❤️
This is the greatest place to shop find beautiful bargains for everyone in your family highly affordable and recommended this store to everyone I know..
Well if you want to pay more than if you bought it brand new this is the place . Great location!
This is my 1st go-to place when looking for... literally anything. 1) Because the quality of the merchandise is pretty good and, 2) proceeds go to a good cause. i.e. HIV/AIDS/STD education & treatment.
Great little thrift shop great for clothes as well as furniture ,household appliances large and small and of course bric brac.Really cool staff
Love shopping here. Everything is organized, priced quite fairly and nice jeans for a great price! Proceeds go to AIDS research!
Great place, with fantastic people and services! Got my entire STD tests done in 30 minutes! You Rock!
Clean and well run. I wish their assortment changed more often...maybe I go in there too much...lol.
Always great find at this location! Staff is always friendly and upfront with you when dropping off, and always helpful inside when you have questions!
When were visiting the east coast (which is several times a year) we ALWAYS stop at Out of the Closet in Wilton Manors. Great store, great shopping, always fun.
Parking is horrible waisted my time driving there didn’t get to go in bc no parking and the liquor store mean man said I couldn’t park there even for ten minutes.
Always love dropping things off and picking up new finds. Jose and Todd are always friendly and helpful
Very rude staff to be in such a loving and caring community...Nobody greets anyone and terrible service. Will never come to this location ever again!
Always a great selection, with proceeds that go to a great cause. Love Out of the Closet and AHF!
Decent selection. Best to go when they have sales.
The workers are aways very nice and helpful. I love this place!
Lovely staff and a great cause. Good selection of items in good nick. Reasonably priced.
Always very convenient, well organized and the staff is always very friendly. I got a discount today... crazy cheap!!!!
This is the worst donation place I have ever encountered! Employees with attitude, pick and choose what they accept, and show little to no gratitude. Will never donate to this location and will definitely never shop there.
Great customer service very friendly atmosphere there I will donate and buy there all the time
A thrift store they have some items that might interest most people, just have a look around and see if you like anything. I got a microwave here and it works so wonderfully.
Luv this place ! Great selection, prices and new stuff regularly. And very friendly staff
Best service, friendly and helpful. Recommending this store to everyone I know.
Great place to shop ,friendly staff members, best quality merchandise. Outstanding.
Always a pleasure to visit. Great selection and friendly staff.
Sad to say but probably better than any thrift store in Miami with exception of those in Flamingo Plaza. Nice store, always cool stuff.
Fantastic place, I love coming here to buy all kinds of stuff.
I dont like the new layout, couldnt find the Hawaiian shirt section, someone in there had a screaming kid, couldnt use the bathroom because to many people using for tests
Great hospitality. Always a new treasure to found. Excellent prices on books.
Considering everything is from donations it seems like to me theyre just want too much money for a lot of the items.
Found clothes that were brand new with the original tags on them for only $3! Staff very friendly and its all for a great cause
Great prices on electronics and furniture. Great staff offering wonderful customer service .

I love this place. Everyone is super friendly and prices are amazing!
Not a lot of womens clothes here. Prices are good and everybody who works there seems to enjoy it.
Soft cover books for a dollar each. Great place if youre a bookworm!
One of the cleanest and best kept thrift stores Ive ever been.
Ive been going there for years, walked in recently and was told to wear a mask. Theres no reason for it at this point.
Great bargains and lots of stuff! You cant leave empty handed!
Awesome staff. Helpful and friendly. Pharmacy also excellent.

Love this store. Friendly staff, good finds.
Great place, friendly staff and cool stuff.
Prices are shockingly High for second hand , Employees are overworked and deserve better compensation for their hard work.
Youll be surprised what they have ,not your everyday thrift store with a great staff.
Its a Decent Thrift shop. Can sometimes find something good. Found some good CDs.

Great finds..... personal and professional service!!!
Go there for free HIV and STD testings...never really shopped here
They have everything you could need the only drawback is their prices are a little high for a thrift store
Large selection of clothing. Furniture is expensive and dated. Store is clean and very orderly. (Additional Categories:Thrift Store, Thrift Shops, Thrift Stores, Furniture-Used, Furniture Bought & Sold)
Great stuff. Great cause. A must go to place.
One of my favorites, always packed with new things.
Good finds but you have to hunt for them.
Out of The Closet is probably one of the best thrift store chains.
The wait time for these results are horrendous with very few chairs. I ran for the hills.
Well priced and always fun stuff
