After losing pregnancy to trisomy 18 I was forced to look into a D&E. Called to schedule appointment after verifying insurance coverage since over income levels and couldnt afford out of pocket cost. Two days before surgery they call to say out of state doctor had to be flown in for appointment and she doesnt take my insurance. Asked to reschedule with normal doctor and was told no other appointment was available. It made already overwhelming situation so much worse. Instead of paying full price I called Care clinic in colorado and they had next day appointments available and said theyd take care of me at no cost at all regardless of income. We paid for two nights at hotel and although it was so hard to be there they took time to make me as comfortable as possible. Based on phone conversations with PP I dont think they would of had any compassion for situation. So guess if you just want one and it wasnt planned pregnancy then maybe this is spot for you, but if you are actually going thru loss, especially late term look into traveling to make it easier.
As like everyone else i read the reviews first. When speaking on women’s health it’s a very sensitive topic . I honestly think the bad reviews are from the protestors. You have to know what you’re getting into to prepare your mind. From the start i had a lovely experience my ultra sound tech was very knowledgeable and eased my first mind of doubt. My next nurse Holly you can tell is experienced and loves her job. I appreciate her after being poked 2 times already, coming over and doing her due diligence in finding the right vein. BUT MY FAVORITE NURSE WAS FRANKA!!!!!!! She deserves to be floor nurse or higher. Before she serviced me i noticed her working with other people. She had an interpreter and was telling the patient thank you for letting me service you today. She noticed i was cold and gave me extra blankets. I couldn’t stop crying she actually whipped my tears and held my hand. It’s people like that you appreciate being a REAL NURSE. She deserves everything good that comes to her. Please consider coming here just for Franka she will actually make you feel like it’s YOUR choice and she supports whatever you feel. I really appreciated that! Thank you again Franka!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Those who cant believe the negative reviews are so influenced by pro-choice BELIEFS they cant look at the facts... of ambulances arriving without sirens because of the political agreements with local EM jurisdictions. Please mothers, seek another solution.
Omg! This place is the best. Went in for a procedure and everything went smooth. All of the staff were extremely nice. The ultrasound tech was not as friendly but everyone else, make you feel welcome. The communication, the support, the friendliness all top tier. I would definitely recommend this place!
Not sure why there is bad reviews. I won’t be disclaiming the reasoning I was visiting here but all I have to say is the staff will do everything to make you feel comfortable. They do not rush you or make you do anything you don’t wanna do and every single person was great to me. Especially the main doctors and Nurse Candy. They also helped so much with protesters and even offered to come to vehicle and walk you in to make you feel more comfortable if you didn’t feel comfortable. It doesn’t matter if you’re there for birth control or abortion, or ultrasound, protesters will definitely say something to you and assume the worst but they go above and beyond to make you feel comfortable.
I had a pap smear smear here that showed abnormal cells in my cervix, they immediately provided service when I did not have medical insurance and set up a payment plan. My medically necessary LEEP was cancelled and scheduled at another PP due to the Roe ruling when many women had to suddenly schedule services here due to the lack of complete medical services available at the MO locations. The staff here is incredible, there were multiple staff here that went out of their way to communicate with Spanish only speakers despite the language barrier. I eventually had my LEEP done in a MO location that wasnt inundated with women who needed necessary medical care months later. The staff here is great. The false medical center in the same area and the picket creeps are scary and intimidating but they have friendly people in the parking lot helping patients navigate these obstacles. To anyone who posted reviews regarding their security screenings, please consider that this specific location is less than an hour from one of the most heinous, legally organized, politically twisted, and pro life groups in the county and anything regarding bringing in cellphones or other various items is most likely in place to protect you as a patient and their medical providers and staff from harassment and slander. You really dont need your cellphone for the hour or two that you wait.
Got my nexplanon in. 9 months later, I couldnt feel the nexplanon, when I called theydid nothing to fix it. They said they take my insurance but theres a glitch in the system so I have to pay the self pay price
Don’t know where all these bad reviews are coming from. If I could give more than 5 stars I would! From getting walked into the building, to checking in and seeing the doctors everything was a breeze. The staff was so kind and helpful along the whole process. Never once did I feel uncomfortable or feel like I was being judged. The process was smooth and they were happy to answer any questions that I had. They are very compassionate and so helpful! Shoutout to Nurse Zoe for helping me pick out the best birth control for me and shoutout to nurse Theo, they were great! They were so nice and asked me if I had a music preference during the process. Thank y’all so much. I would definitely recommend this location!!
Note: this is not a review of the facility but their customer service. I actually don’t live in Kansas but I made an appointment in my town and when I needed to call for an issue this is the number that called me back. I was assigned a male doctor and was not comfortable with that so I called and asked if it was possible to be assigned to a female. The lady on the phone told me that there’s only a male doctor on the weekends but also chuckled at my discomfort more than once on the phone?? I love this organization but you don’t laugh at patients expressing discomfort with a provider.
This is about an abortion procedure I received at this clinic and I want to warn anyone reading, this may be very triggering. this was the most traumatic medical experience I have ever had and it was not because of the staff that were not involved with the procedure. they were mostly pretty nice. the attending supervisor Iman Alsaden was who I was informed would be performing the abortion on me. not only did I not get to meet any of the staff that performed on me before the procedure but Iman was not the one who performed on me and was not even in the room at all during the procedure to supervise. I got to meet Iman one time in the waiting area when they mistook me for another patient and asked who I was then immediately walked away when I wasnt who they needed. I had two infections in the reproductive area before and during the abortion which I informed someone over the phone about before and several people at the appointment. I was told they would inform my providers and if I didnt get an appointment change to proceed. this can be deadly having an abortion with infection but they still did not change the appointment. Because I did not get to meet anyone who was actually performing on my I was not informed of the type of surgical abortion I would be receiving and I was not given the pill they gave other women there to prepare and soften my cervix for the procedure. when I was finally called in after waiting hours past the time my appointment was scheduled (I scheduled weeks in advance for this appointment and spent the entire day at the clinic) they gave me the IV sedation. the highest form of sedation they had is what I chose. that procedure was the most physical pain I have ever experienced in my life and aside from what was in my IV the only form of pain medication they provided was an 800mg Ibuprofen. that wont even help with a lot of womens menstrual cramps. when the lady performing on me came in the surgery room(which looked like a storage room with shelves of boxes lining the walls)she gave me the shot of lidocaine in my cervix and did not wait even a minute for it to take effect before starting the abortion. they told me I could hold a stress ball and wiggle my feet but the pain was so bad I was struggling to keep my legs in the sterups and clenching every muscle in my body just to not cry out in pain. I talked to someone before the procedure and expressed my fear of the teneculum (a sharp pincher like tool that is used to hold the cervix open when it is not opening enough) they looked at me with concern and said there would be no need for that tool to be used that they would take their time and prepare my cervix so it would not need to be forced open. they did not prepare my cervix nor did they wait for the lidocaine to take effect. they did use the tenaculum on me. this itself was painful not even mentioning everything else that caused extreme pain. I had been informed not long before the procedure they would do it in 3-5 minutes which concerned me because everything I had been told and that I had researched said the least amount of time that procedure can be performed is in 5-10 minutes. they didnt even do that. there were probably 30 other women in the clinic that day and it was very clear to me they were rushing my procedure. during the procedure I asked them at one point to stop because of how extreme the pain was and the lady told me she would give me a few seconds and then continue. seconds. they did the procedure in less than 3-5 minutes. two days after the procedure when I was back in my home state I started getting extreme chills and extreme pain in my abdomen and woke up the next day with a fever. I had to go to the Emergency Room and they had to perform a D&C on me to remove all of the tissue the Kansas clinic had left behind. I got to see it and it was the same size as the baby before the abortion procedure just was not in the shape of a growing baby. I had an infection so bad I had to be treated with IV antibiotics and steroids. luckily for me I was treated at the ER before I went septic.
I came here for an abortion and they took beautiful care of me. They were very kind and caring towards my needs, the nurses were very gentle to me after the procedure. Even during they kept me calm and i felt very safe with them. Didnt even take as long as we thought which was good. Very grateful for these women.
Staff goes above and beyond for patients and made my experience as smooth as possible. Their nurses are awesome! just beware of the protesters that can’t find anything better to do with their time.
They manipulate you!! They tell you theyre here to help but theyre not. Having an abortion is nothing like they tell you. I saw the little babys head and body on the ultrasound before they tore it apart when removing it. Dont make a decision youll regret the rest of your life. There are other options, dont let them manipulate you like Ive seen them do to every woman that comes in. They dont care about you.
Yes the whole process takes long time. But youll get things done in just one half-day appointment. All staffs I met here are so nice, professional, and compassionate. The online appointment scheduling is convenient and they have much more slots available than other clinics. They send you detailed instructions prior to your appointment. Yes your bag will be searched but cell phone is allowed in, and theres a big TV in the waiting lobby. All the rooms are bright and clean, even the supply room. Yes I entered their supply room because the tornado warning right during my visit, and thats the safety room. A patient didnt look well so a staff (should be a doctor) gave her water and a pill to help. She also checked if Im doing OK which Im very thankful. My husband and daughter were waiting for me in the car, security guys offered them to come inside for safety. One important thing is that do bring your own card to pay at check-in, or youll need to reschedule.
Staff was amazing until I got to the part to do my surgical abortion. I was poked three times with a needle (could not find my vein) until they put it in my hand and I explained I didn’t see a vein where she poked it and they still left it there. I was suppose to receive the highest dose of medicine (which is two medicines put in you) to help with my abortion and felt like I received nothing. Once the abortion started I started to notice something didn’t feel right the further they kept going. I said something. She kept going. It wasn’t until I screamed and started crying for them to notice and all the doctor told the nurse to do was to inject me with more medication while they continued to do it. Felt like they were worried about getting done within that 10 min mark. After 4 days I notice huge blood clotting and excessive pain. Felt like I was giving birth. Went to the emergency room to find out that they did not do things proper and I will now undergo another surgery. I explained to another nurse that I felt I could trust at the appointment hey I have had an abortion before and I know I’m not suppose to be feeling like this and she processed to say everybody is different. I know this is the only place that can get you an appointment quick but hold off. This is literally not worth the risk .
I’m actually not sure why there’s any negative reviews for overland park’s planned parenthood. i never had any issues with phone calls or nurses. i had a long drive from OKC to here, they even helped me with getting a hotel so i would be able to make my appointment on time. everyone there is so kind and compassionate, they truly want to help you the best way they can. hannah was one of my nurses and she was super nice, she made sure i understood everything that was going to happened. and sierra made everything go by so quick in the OR. they talked to me the whole time just trying to make me as comfortable as possible. i would definitely recommend friends and family to overland park.
They provide excellent care when youre physically in the office, but when you arent, good luck. Stay on them if you have to call them for literally anything. Takes over a week of playing phone tag to get a basic birth control prescription filled. They also recently got rid of their callback option, so if you need to speak to someone, your only option is to sit on the phone and hold. Very pleasant people, but their funding being cut shows. Unfortunate.
This place and these people are the best. Im so blessed by them, from the security guard to the doctors, to my trip advisor (Tia), you all made this experience a little less challenging on me. Sierra was the best nurse and without her I dont think I would have made it through this. Thank you all..❤️
Excellent place clean, staff and doctors, nurses, councilors are ABSOLUTELY amazing!! I couldnt have been in better hands... Which ever Your problem is they never judge nor treat you different then a normal human being... Also its not a long wait time. If your not able to have all the money they will do there best to help any way possible.... This is such an amazing place for a situation like this.. Always remember your not alone and of this is what you feel is best follow your heart ❤ god bless... Thank you planned parent hood for making this process as easy as possible for me. Thank you nurses who brought light and a smile to me face in a hard situation I was going through... God bless each and eveyone... This Dr.office truly cares about you and your situation.. Also very compassionate....
I came here after my primary doctor was removed from my insurance network. After 10 years with the same doctor I was a little nervous to see someone else but the whole staff was great and I felt comfortable throughout the whole process. I had a full screening for STIs, a well womans exam, and ended up switching birth controls after mentioning I wanted to switch methods. The doctor took the time to discuss my options with me, we decided what would work best, and I was able to get everything done in one appointment. The health care I received was absolutely comprehensive!
Absolutely lovely place. All staff were very kind throughout my procedure, sweet and understanding. It took a very long time, so dont plan on doing anything else if youre here for a termination. Looked clean, and all staff were following COVID19 restrictions perfectly.
Upon reading other reviews, I was very hesitant to go to this facility. But, when I arrived the staff was absolutely wonderful and friendly. Yeah the wait time is pretty long, but thats the way it goes with public services. I suggest bringing reading material of some sort because I was in there around 3 hours, and cellphones/electronics are not permitted. Also, I was warned about protesters but none were present at the time I went, which was on Friday. Its a good place, they make you feel comfortable and theres no judgement.
Would have chose 0 stars if it was an option... first appointment was scheduled weeks in advance and set for 10:30am. I did not get seen till the office was already closed for the day at 3pm. Took an additional hour of waiting for other doctors and didn’t leave till around 4:20pm. I was waiting for almost 6 hours!!! Not to mention you can’t bring in a support system so you’re waiting all alone. Second appointment I have been waiting for an hour, no one has spoke to me at all and it’s only a follow up... again they close in 20 mins and the lobby is still full.... would recommend going to a different location or somewhere else completely. (:
Honestly not sure of the negative comments. Maybe it was from years ago, but you are definitely allowed to bring your cell phone in. It sucks due to Covid protocol that you can’t have a support system. They tell you it’s going to take hours. Whether you have an appointment or not. So take the day off, and stop complaining. They are trying. As far as the No answering phones I’ve always had someone answer my call AND return it. So some of y’all must have gotten them on a bad day. And we are allowed to have those. Everyone here is so kind and non judgemental.
I pray for every woman who had to make this decision with no support . It may be the hardest thing you ever had to do, But the staff there are true angels, and they will make you feel like your life is back in control
I went here for birth control today and you can expect to not bring any phones or electronics because you are searched, I didnt find this a problem since they were just doing their job. Everyone here was super nice and friendly, I loved how nice they were even though everyone was ready to go home since I was their last patient! Wait time wasnt bad at all, I would recommend this place due to the fact the workers are so friendly and kind!!!!!
Yeah, go to a real doctor if at all possible. If you absolutely have to go to this Planned Parenthood for whatever horrible reason, be aware that youll have to keep your phone and tablet (if it has picture-taking capabilities, which most do) in your car. Mace? Dont bring it in. Bag has a lot of stuff in it? Every single thing WILL be taken out and examined. Bring a book or magazine -- youll need it, because whatever time your appointments scheduled for wont be anywhere close to the time the doctor (in my case, a freaking midwife) sees you. I and everyone around me waited upwards of an hour past our appointment time to be seen. There was one receptionist that seemed nice, but naturally, I got the one who looks at everyone like theyre stupid and disgusting. If youve got insurance and can see an actual MD, avoid Planned Parenthood. Id actually advise to avoid them regardless. I went several years ago, and didnt experience the horrible attitudes and shoddy treatment that seems to be the norm now. Its pretty sad.
They only have IDIOTS working the front desk. They had me pay $300 up front AND billed my insurance. A couple weeks later, I got my insurance claim and EOB (explanation of benefits) that shows my insurance paid IN FULL but the stupid lady at the front desk said she didnt understand insurance so they would not issue me a refund for the $300 I paid up front, even though they already got FULL payment from my insurance. you cant issue a refund because you dont understand insurance?! are you kidding me?! this place is a complete joke. they are just money hungry. all she did was give me the main phone number to their office. what good is that??? when you call their main number and select option #4 for a manager, the recording states the call cannot be transferred. this place is also trashy. the rooms in the back arent even fully lit and they have cardboard boxes left laying around all over the place likes its an old attic. the doctor comes out wearing a plastic apron to greet you like hes been back there butchering meat. whatever you do, DO NOT GO HERE!!
This is not a health department so people should know what they are going in here for. With that said the staff is very knowlagable comforting and kind. The front desk woman are awsome and helpful. They give you plenty of information and options if you are unsure what you want to do they are not pushy .The clinic is ran very well and organized i really cant say anything bad . The entire staff is Great i mean its 2017 Woman should be able to have places and people like this to help make and do the desicion they wish to with their life and body . So Thanks.
Big thank you to Kim at the front desk for being so nice and smooth process. Ashley for a difficult job but making sure I was comfortable while doing so. LaRaya is Amazing! I have a big fear of needles and she was so fragile and quick! Sarah was also amazing for letting me ask questions and had answers for each one and big thanks to one of the lady doctors started with an M. (Sorry for forgetting) thankyou to the warm staff.
I was on edge going to this location to start with hearing the storys. I was going for a yearly as I have done at many other planned parenthood locations. First the door was locked making me think that I was at the wrong door but it was locked for safety reasons. There was a guard on duty no cell phones and a wave of the metal detector and searched my bag I felt find about all that. Get to the window and the ladys where kind and friendly until I said I dont have insurance. Then they got all huffy and snapped you do know this is a full pay clinic right? suddenly I felt like a second class citizen normally since Im unemployed and uninsured I only have to pay what I can. Not here they want it all that day. When did that change the whole point of planned parenthood was for women in my position. This place is absolutely nothing like what planned parenthood was founded on.
Unfortunately, ZERO stars was not an option. This office never answers their phone and on the off chance they do, they put you on hold and then hang up. Every. Single. Time. Do NOT get any medical procedure done here because if anything goes wrong, you won’t be able to contact anyone. They give you 3 different numbers to call and they are all completely useless. Don’t even both leaving a message because it will never be returned. They are so unprofessional. I’m not sure how this place hasn’t been shut down. Maybe they will soon especially after their St Louis location closed due to so many botched abortions. BEWARE!
Completely rude and inept staff; I received conflicting information from different employees which resulted my not being able to keep my appointment. I suppose I understand the incredibly high security, but there is no need to make the people going there for health care feel like criminals; I went there with the intention of doing my annual exam over my lunch break, and felt like I was being incarcerated. Avoid, avoid, avoid.
Id like to thank the staff for being the most compassionate, sweet, wonderful people. The second we got out of the car and were harassed by protesters we were greeted by a friendly face and everyone that followed was just as pleasant as the last. I couldnt imagine a better group of people or experience. Thank you for assuring womens reproductive health and rights!
Ill start with saying I love Planned Parenthood and have been to a few before but this Planned Parenthood wrote me a birth control prescription and didnt fill it for two weeks. After two days of waiting I called all day constantly only getting voicemail to their front desk and the director of the office. I didnt receive a call or person who knew anything on the phone for two weeks. I will not go here again.
Not sure where to begin. First appt we waited for 2 hours to even be spoken to. Went back for about twenty minutes, then sat waiting in the waiting room for 4 additional hours for medicine. Now sitting here at the follow up and have been waiting one hour now past our show up time. They are either seriously overbooked or seriously understaffed. Either way this will be our only experience with these people. Save yourself so much time and frustration and go or choose somewhere else. There are other options!!!
The customer service Representative Alexis is very rude & disrespectful . its hard enough having to make decisions in life but when you choose to make those decisions you should not feel judged or looked down on by the staff that are supposed to be there to help you. Its almost scary how evil & cold this lady was over the phone I asked to speak with her manager & was put on hold for not even a min to be told she was not available . I wouldnt recommend this place to any living creature this place needs to be investigated I can only imagine what else women have had to deal with .. Found a different place in the same area & I will be posting a recommendation after I find out what their services are about ..
Came here all the way here so they could inform me as Im checking in that the doctor had left for an Emergency... Therefore they couldnt perform any procedures. This is super super wrong in so many ways and there should be another doctor here in case one has to leave.
They were so kind! The nurse taking my blood even rewrapped my arm from a burn I had from work. They were so kind and help my hand through it all... Ill never forget the kindness through something so scary.
Literally waited 2+ hours in the lobby for an appointment that was scheduled weeks in advance. The receptionist has an attitude and even if you already paid for part of the service, they’ll make you pay it again, meaning you’ll end up paying more! Do not go here!
I received wonderful care at this location. The staff set clear expectations and made sure I fully understood my procedure and needed follow-up.
Refuses to refund money for services not recieved...and they just hang up when you try to contact there billing department...I normally fully support them but not when they do corrupt business.
Unless you plan on waiting for 4+ hours in the waiting room for your appointment that was scheduled weeks in advance I do not reccomend this location. It is an hour and a half passed closing and still waiting to be seen.
Very professional amazing staff! Very clean facility! They made me comfortable and made me fully understand the process! Thank you! 🙏🏾
First time i went they had me reschedule then the next day i bounced around from waiting room to waiting room for almost 4 hours not the best experience
They was very nice all the staff they made me feel very comfortable thank yall soo much I appreciate yall for not judging
They all were very sweet, and make you feel comfortable during your visit!!!
They can be really helpful but they love to cancel appointments
Genuinely kind and comforting staff. I can’t thank them enough.
Knowledgeable and compassionate employees. The facility is clean and well-kept.
This place is phenomenal and the staff is exceptional at what they do. I am shocked not to see this rating much higher.
Amazing staff, so kind. Helped me process what was happening in a healthy way
Terrible
Denied me care over a simple birth control appointment.
Staff is extremely friendly!
The best volunteers!
Great advice
