I was having trouble with an applicant that I needed to fill out online and download some items. Seriously, I tried it at least 30 times and different ways. I emailed a few sites and called trying to get help, leaving messages. The Center was the only one that reached out to me and offered to help me resolve the problem I was having.Violet, from the Center, had me meet up with her and gave me all the resources and help to resolve the problem and complete the task. Thanks Violet, you were great!
This center is a disappointment to the LGBT community of Long Beach. Its legal center, specifically, is no help to anyone. I called them to for support regarding getting out of an unsafe situation. They did my intake and 6 months later, no call or response. If you need any real help with services please look elsewhere.
Everyone was very nice but at the end of the day if you cant afford it youre left alone unable to get the help you need. Is it their fault? No, they do what they can with the resources they have. But it seems like an organization whose mission is to serve the community should at least be able to provide you with resources for getting help somewhere else, especially when the barriers are financial. Sometimes it takes a lot for someone to reach out for the help they need only to find out that the one door that should be open to you, the community you are a part of, is also closed and youre on your own, just like you felt you were.
They dont care about your time or your feelings. Michael emails you weekly changes to a group. I finally get the nerve. He confirmed 7pm . I show less than 10 minutes early. . No one is there. The front desk tells me the group starts at 730. Stop wasting peoples time.
Do NOT book services here, they will NOT call you back. All these services they offer, they talk them up, make you feel safe and confident that yes, you finally have someone thatll help you on your journey whos in the neighborhood, and understands what youre going through. But no. They bail on you, ignore your calls, add you to the list of numbers they have for helping people that keeps growing. It leaves you feeling helpless, again. Not even your community has your back.Yall need to do better. Long Beach is home to one of the biggest LGBT+ communities in SoCal. We should be there for each other and not have to struggle just to get a simple phone call back. This is truly a disappointing center who isnt there for their community enough. I couldnt imagine this center would be able to handle/help anyone in a crisis. Not without making them wait weeks for a call back first.
The absolute worst!!! I was recommend to come here because i needed some serious mental health counseling. This place has a TERRIBLE system regarding being reach out too.You can’t ever call DIRECTLY to speak with anyone & you have to leave a voicemail where they call you back with BLOCK NUMBERS & if they miss you by any means you can’t call them back or reach out & you have to wait WEEKS for another call from them. It’s almost as if they don’t want to actually help you. Some people have JOBS where you can’t run to answer the phone & the slow reach times. It took them almost 3 weeks AFTER my voice mail to receive a block call.Overall this place SUCKS!! If you actually need help find somewhere you can REACH THEM not the other way around.Stop advertising that you actually want to help ppl when they can’t reach you.
Im not sure why there are so many bad reviews here. This center offers free std testing like 5 days a week until 9 pm. You can walk in and get condoms. It is a great resource. Sometimes they even have essential health care products for free, they really try here
The LGBQT Center by far, is absolutely stellar!!! Their staff, & volunteers are the MOST friendly, MOST courteous, MOST helpful, MOST pleasant, & the very BEST place one could ever go for ANY questions, concerns, guidance, legal matters, support groups, (any sort of support, for that matter) in Southern California!!! Many times Ive partaken of their services. Most of the time, their vast array of services had whatever I may have needed, & if they dont have a particular service and / or program that I was seeking, their courteous, kind, & very helpful staff were able to provide me with where to go to get whatever it was that I was looking for. I cant say enough good things about The Center.
Absolutely wonderful staff and people, I felt so so happy to be seen and connect with my community :^)
Unless you have a gun barrel sticking out of your mouth, youre pretty hit with a...Well have someone contact you in couple weeks following up on what programs we can best match for you. Been waiting since August 2018. In the last month of playing phone tag with you people. I truly ponder at the idea of people that eventually harmed and hurt themselves after hearing words of out right dismissal. They are not persistent. You tell them your availability upon intake. (Give all the portals of how you can be reached. Phone number, addresses, EMAILS!!! When they find that perfect class for you and its not in your availability well, they can no longer sweeten the pot for you and leave at, well just call us when you can make the class. Noone is proactive enough to say, lets see what more we can do. Since you can not make one class so they drop you, the case. Thanks ALOT!!

I popped in for a STI screening and to get some general information about trans healthcare in long beach. Everyone who I talked to was more than cordial and understanding. I came in early, and was able to talk to the receptionist for a few minutes about what the center offered.Nobody really tried to rush me, and the two nurses who helped with my STI screen were polite and gentle. Even when I made it clear I historically have a hard time taking blood, they didnt try to force anything or try to fruitlessly stab me with the needle.
Went in for an HIV test. Very quick and easy, and informative. The receptionist was polite and straightforward, as were the workers. Its important to get tested not only for HIV but other STDs as well (: recommended it 100%
Placed phone call received excellent customer service
Someone just stole my book bag at the Long Beach Gay & Lesbian Center...I got about as much service & concern from the volunteers at the front desk as would wait. There was no service. No concern. Thank God all important information was in my pocket. I know we are responsible for our belongs. But at least get out your seat...Mmmmm makes me wonder why I dont see more people who look like me here...Just saying...
Holas! Im new to Long Beach from New York. As soon as I moved to the neighborhood I connected with The Center. As I blossom more into my presence as a Latina transgender, I sought support from The Center. All the staff and members have been incredibly amazing. What was just a small mustard seed of an idea in relocating to Long Beach and connecting with the LGBTQ community, is now becoming a full fledged reality. I am so grateful for the services being offered and the comfort I feel being in my new LGBTQ Center home.
Boasting friendly staff, a large library, and many groups and activities to attend, The Center has been my queer place of choice for the last year. Their focus on making resources accessible to LGBT people regardless of status is admirable.
Was told to come down.. “No one was there” I rode my bike a few miles and when I got there it was only 4pm and they close at 10pm, only 4 ppl were in the lobby and I was told they’re at capacity.. I said really it’ll take you 5hrs to see these 4 ppl? And no rational explanation was given.
Not sure what they do here anymore. Is there even a point to the center. Just seems like a empty building now. I stopped by the other day. They unlocked the door to say they are currently closed. Then maybe get rid of the employees this place has absolutely NO PURPOSE. Rude people.
I have lived in the area my whole life. I have always been able to get the services I have needed. I am in my 70s.
Today was first day going to the center, excellent service and very attentive staff., they made me feel welcome. Extremely satisfied with the service they provide.
The Center is A very wounderful place for comunity ivolvement and volunteering and has alot of resources availible to the public and privte cultures and Organizations, Its my Home Away from home..
I called this place for the past week and never gotten a callback. I dont see the point of the center if they will not attend the needs of the community.
Very attentive and friendly. Thank you!!!! Wonderful staff
The food Pantry Is awesomeThank You During these Troublesome crisis.😇🐍
I have been attended the transgender support group for sometime. I have not had any problems.
Great place to sit and talk and some times they have free cookies :)
Not very kind to people of color here. Especially the ones apart of the LGBTQA+ community.
