Dear [AHF Management],I am writing to express my deep disappointment and frustration with the behavior of the staff at your Hollywood location. As a homeless individual seeking assistance,I was met with blatant disrespect and unprofessionalism.During my visit, the security guards conduct was unacceptable, and I have both a picture and video to illustrate this. Additionally, the receptionist rudely told me to vacate a seat, despite my explaining that my legs were in severe pain.I was waiting to speak with a caseworker who had promised to assist me with housing but failed to return any of my calls or emails. It is evident that some staff members at this location display a condescending attitude, possibly due to the Hollywood setting, which is entirely inappropriate given the critical nature of the services provided by AHF.The dismissive and unhelpful behavior I encountered is unacceptable and suggests a lack of proper training and compassion.Due to this experience,I have decided to seek HIV care elsewhere.I strongly urge you to address these issues immediately to ensure that others do not have to endure the same treatment. The Hollywood locations staff needs to be reminded of the importance of treating all clients with dignity and respect, regardless of their circumstances.
They have completely ruined my HIV care, completely over complicating every step of care. It’s like pulling teeth just to get a hold of my medication and the staff here is confusing and needs to take better care of their patients who rely on them. I haven’t seen my medication in nearly two to three months and am getting no progress going through this organization
Hello and again Im writing I keep getting put on hold and try to uptain my personal and refusing to give me my records or call me back. Imma have to reach out to a lawyer ASAP
I sat there for 1 hour everyone that was before me including those that were coming and going they never called my number someone literally said that I had been sitting there and literally walked passed me everything was so purposely done the guy who checked me in acted like everything was just lax normal his brain was beyond the ceiling with his brainless reaction
Parking guy tell you to leave the parking that I already park. He did not tell me about only for staff.
Place is filled with very nice people. However, the communication between each other is bad. They also do not answer the phones or will not call you back unless you give them a bath survey. Waiting on paperwork for over a week and a half after having to take multiple days off to address it. Spoke to the program manager Jesse, and still nothing has been resolved. Would not recommend they give you the runaround. Was confused with other patients so the customer service I would say is lacking.
I’m giving this clinic a 3 star rating. Everyone was super nice to me there and was making sure everything is flowing properly. I had gotten a rapid test on my finger. Which is a blood test and I’ll get my results right there and then. so my results was negative. Then a male nurse calls me in to get my blood drawn AGAIN. I had mentioned that i already got my blood drawn and he said he had to do it again. Which was weird. He drew my blood it hurt so much. Usually I’m good at getting my blood drawn. Never do i get negative effects . This time i got a huge bruise from getting my blood drawn… the bruise is a couple days old now so it’s not as dark. Do people usually get bruised from getting blood drawn?
This is the worst care facility ever, no one knows anything. If you call no one is there and if you talk to someone online is useless too. They will give you any excuse to make you life miserable.
Went in last week because my partner had an appointment and I was trying to get a vaccine. Had to wait way too long. They have no chairs nor waiting room. Ended up leaving without getting vaccinated. Get a chair. Ridiculous, brand new building and not a seat to sit in. Not everyone wants to spend an hour rifling through used clothes.
Ive been a patient of AHF Hollywood at least since 2004. And somehow the quality care of this facility is going worse everyday. From the wait time that takes longer, to the no-clue staffs that obviously disorganized in dealing with patients (ex: they lost track of the patients), to cancelling appointments of their own discretion, no one answering the phones, and at some extent-rudeness. Perhaps, I understand the facts that the staffs must deal with wide variety of patients. But, thats not an excuse for bad quality of care. Its their job. What puzzle me though, AHF Hollywood always gets good reviews annually supposedly from their patients.
Very warm, friendly and professional staff. HIV/AIDS is a complicated condition in a field which is regularly evolving, the AHF staff is committed to being aware of those changes to provide patients current and relevant medical guidance. The office is a short 10-15 minute walk from the Sunset / Vermont Metro station.Useful app for current patiens providing the ability to schedule appointments, view lab results and medical history. Thanks AHF Hollywood, keep up the good work!
Easy process guided by a caring and engaged staff. Everyone involved took the time to talk to me and hear me out about my concerns. They even referred me to places for additional free medical services should I require them at a future juncture. They provided a full panel with results available by email in just a couple days. The clinic also provides treatment for certain STI’s and a consultation with a doctor if you test positive. Everything was free and the location also had ample parking available. Would absolutely recommend to everyone for their health and well being.
Everyone is polite and has kind voices. When I walked in, I felt a little overlooked, no one said anything until I asked but they are all so sweet and inviting with fun personalities. You may have to wait a little or a lottle, but it is a free service and thats really special. Go get tested friends!
Ive been a client since 2001, I come here to the Hollywood clinic, and Ive been going to the El monte clinic for over 10 years now, from the beginning HF has been very good! Recently unfortunately for some reason it has been going down to good to bad, Ive tried many many times to contact my appointment information, never has anybody answered the phone, that worries me so so much, to back up my words give them a call and you will not get an answer! I think Im going to have to find a never clinic, if anyone knows of a good reliable clinic please feel free to let me know? Im very scared because I dont drive and I have no idea when my next appointment is? No one has called me and Im very worried. People need to know this best regards.
I have been with AHF SINCE I RETURNED BACK HOME TO LOS ANGELES, 20 YEARS AGO. Each office is a one stop shop for patients. Referrals are with the best in the medical industry and they do not play with peoples health. Unlike some facilities looking for that pay out bail out. Privacy and patient wellbeing are number one on the list of this companys mission. The staff is fun and friendly and do an outstanding job.
This place is very nice and the staff are very friendly and patient. They answered every question I when I asked the brand name of come of their medical equipment I had not seen before. They were willing to go and ask someone to find out for me. Top notch place. They offer to the public every weekday except tuesday, from 5:30pm to 8:30pm STD/HIV testing and treatment they also provide chromebooks to everyone to sign up with their website so they can deliver your results electronically which has dramatically increased their ability to serve more people per day
HIV+ since 97 ...while the medical staff is usually top notch, the support staff is simply over-worked and stretched incredibly thin (so much so, its often impossible to have a needed issue addressed in a timely fashion). Appointments are often months out. Perhaps less $$$ spent on showy billboards that have little to do with HIV/AIDS would give AHF the funds to hire more HIV/AIDS WORKERS. Just a thought.
I cant speak about AHF in general only this location, which is located on Vermont Ave, in Doctors Tower behind Hollywood Presbyterian Hospital. Now I was diagnosed with HIV 2 years ago and was refered here, but was freaking out so was trying to go to the LGBTQ center, but it was going to be so long to be seen there, AHF ended up bribing me to come in (My bad I know) But I ended up being a patient for around 6 months (Till my medicare was activated and changed to kaiser) and not once was I seen on time, nor was I was treated with respect when I was waiting for hours just to know the results of my labs. The only person who does treat you with respect and do a decent job is their security guard who is a very nice person.Beyond that, you have an emergency appointment, well you better go to the ER cause your not going to be seen here. Nope, no chance in hell lol.Need to talk to the person your making appointments with. . . damn that wont happen either, they wont transfer you to anyone. . .Now this review is also partially based on my last exsperience. I ended up dumping my kaiser, needed help with my HIV and just in general need to be seen. I have Healthnet Medicare, and LA Care Medical they were arguing with me about my insurance and wouldnt let me Apply to be a ptient until it was worked out and that I need to call my my medical worker. 2 Issues is that I have dual medi, medi so they didnt check both, and I am on SSA so I do not have a worker for medical. But I ended up leaving here crying because I needed to be able to see someone and clearly they dont care at all about anyone who goes to their clinics. So point is STAY AWAY FAR FAR AWAY, DONT EVEN TOUCH THEM WITH A 100 FOOT STICK. Find a place that will help you and treats you with respect.
A pool of very cold and distant staff, I would not go here again for testing or to get medication. Like 4 out of 5 of the people I spoke to there sounded rushed, impatient or just really rehearsed in default responses. As a gay guy, I would recommend other friendlier clinics in West Hollywood.
AHF offers an invaluable service to the public and for that they should be commended.I have been at this clinic on occasion over the past 10 years (with and without insurance) and the staff has always been courteous and friendly as one would expect. Its always a good thing to get tested, which is what I do every few months...I only have one gripe, and this gripe is due to an encounter with a security guard at a recent visit. As I walked in at around 10am I was asked by the security guard what I was there for, I told him for STD testing. He told me that I had to come back at 4pm for testing. I was confused by that, as I had been sent over from the downtown location, (which doesnt have STD testing) but they hadnt mention the time. So, I had asked him again as I was still confused, and he seemed to get defensive/offended by my query, and then pointed to the front You dont believe me, go ask them!First of all, the initial help was appreciated (kinda sorta) but ultimatly its not the security guards job to ask me why I m there at all.Frankly, its not his business. Why Im there is personal matter. Should I have answered, Um, yes sir, I have problems, down there... Can you help me with this Mr. Security guard sir? Its the job of the front desk to ask questions like that. The exchange had urked me so much, as other folk in the lobby who were patients added their two cents to the exchange too. I wasnt flustered though, I got it. I had just been confused about the time.Yeah dude, yeah, I should come back at 4, great! I get it. I get it. No really, I get it.The thing is, that wasnt the only reason why I was there. I had questions about different programs offered, insurance, medical, etc,. And again, thats something for the actual AHF frontdesk to address, as well as the, err, personal reason I was there. Let the front desk handle my confusion of the times and my subsequent questions. Thats what theyre paid for.Its great that security is nice enough to step up and help like that, what isnt so great was the tone that was taken when I didnt get it right away.A trip the the STD clinic for a checkup on a Friday morning is not my idea of a good time to begin with. It wouldve been far more appropriate for the security guard to just point me as a client/patient up to the front and had them deal with me.At the end of the exchange with security I was so annoyed I just wanted some fresh air. I had a coffee and a went for a walk. Ill be back though. Like I said, AHF services are great...
AHF clinic works very strangely, even today they didnt call about insurance, I sat in the office until 5pm and no issue was resolved, just passed the analysis and thats it ., in other places it is done in half an hour and then they delayed 4 hours
Bad service attitude if you need paperwork done hold your breathe and doctors they cannot keep I see why stay away from this one.
They have the healthvana application to schedule appointments which they made a big deal about it but as it turns out; appointments cannot be scheduled until the clinic itself gives the ok for the individual to start scheduling appointments so I called then several times and they never picked up the phone; I left a voicemail which was not returned.
The front desk staff have always been patient and kind in assisting me with any issues I had.Jesse in the Pharmacy is excellent in helping me get the meds I need and explaining any guestions I may have.I really appreciate their help especially during these stressful times.🙏 Thank You
Once in there it is OK. However if you need to get ahold of someone when you are not there....GOOD LUCK. The nurses line is only reachable if you are able to get thru to a real human being and then good luck getting a call back. As well the general mail box is a black hole for messages!
I had the medical director as my docotr who I founf out only could be in the AHF offices after 1pm since he had rounds and teaching despite the 10:00AM appointment. Additionally this doc had 30 patients to see per day when he worked from 1-6=! Only! He told me my case was too complicated. Also I was told that I had to get my meds from AHF only otherwise I could not see AHF doctors; when I have Medicare and Medi-CAL and have used Bioscript for a decade...I moved from Florida to Los Angeles to get better doctors and care but this office is too full. 80pts in a day with 4-5 hr wait to see doc.
Rating can be a bit of a challenge taking in consideration the type of service AHF is providing I.e. the focus here is not only on acquiring new patients but also patient retention, having worked for not-for profit organizations in the past, client retention is the biggest challenge, and is an area AHF desperately needs to address, from having a phone system (ACD) able to handle the volume of calls, to policies, procedures and training thus ensuring the best possible service is offered to the public.Maybe upper management (Mr. Weinstein) needs to re- evaluate its core mission and goal here and focus on customer service and retention which is as paramount to the fight against AIDS as has ever been. QUALITY is the key, regardless of the ability to pay, and if staff members (INCLUDING PHYSICIANS !!!!!) are overworked, underpaid and do not have the tools to perform their duties , then what you will get is a recipe for disaster.A great THANK YOU to all at the Hollywood clinic!!
Three services offered four gre are life saving but they can be understaffed and getting an appointment takes time. This also means theyre seeing a lot of patients with quick visits and that can result in less than thorough care. I have always taken an active role in my healthcare and overt the years this seems more and more necessary.
This place used to be really good! The girls there do not answer calls and they do not return calls. I will be leaving this place in taking my business somewhere else. I do not recommend this place for a new diagnosed person.
Worst place ever someone need to come check this place they need to work for that check cuz all they do is ignore youThey dont answer callsThey dont even know who you areIts a MESSAND NO ONE DOES ANYTHINGSHAME SHAME SHAME 💥💥💥💥💥
This is. A great clinic with a great staff and very good doctors if and ever you feel that you just need to make sure that you are in safe zone with whom ever u are dating or even if its just a one night stand this is where I would recommend getting that test done its quick and confidenal
Free service. Long lines and the room is kept cold. I wasnt able to give blood bc of it. Saw them turn a lot of people away due to being over capacity. Come early if you want to be seen and expect to wait for a couple hours.
The best healthcare provider, I have been a member since 2006 and they go beyond their dutys and they are very respectful and kind.
The staff is amazing! They have a pretty frequent turnover with their doctors though
The staff are very nice there, appointments are on time They ask that you be in time also.
Cant rate 0 because that is what i would select. the worst at getting any kind of carel
