Like many other new mothers I’m sure, I had to jump through major hoops to find someone to watch my baby so that I could make it to my 12pm PT appointment. I drove an hour to get there. I was there before 12pm. However, a car in the Origin office parking lot was illegally parked, blocking the driveway making it impossible to access the lot. I called the office to request that the owner of the vehicle be notified. Nothing was done, so I had to drive in reverse down the very narrow driveway onto busy Beverly boulevard and then look for street parking. This ate up about 10 minutes of my appointment time. By the time I got into the office and saw the PT, it was 12:15. I notified the front office staff of the situation to which they responded “ok” with no action taken. When I sat with the PT, she informed me that she would not be able to do the in-person assessment as the next patient would be arriving in 15 minutes and I was late. I explained to her that I did my part of arriving on time, but because of this car blocking the driveway, Im losing an appointment I had waited weeks for. To this she responded “yeah. Parking is hard here.” There was zero sense of accountability, zero acknowledgement of how stressful it is for a new mother to make it to any appointment, and zero accommodation. As Origin has tremendously grown in quantity, their quality has greatly suffered. I’ve heard this from several other mothers as well. What a shame.
I went to Origin Way for physical therapy while pregnant, and will be going for postpartum care as well. I saw Dr. Mariam Taha and cannot recommend her enough! Shes extremely personable, empathetic, and knowledgeable. Without her I wouldnt have been able to manage my SPD pain in the lead up towards labour, and I felt prepared for that as well. I also saw Dr. Rachel McCarthy-Moya once and thought she was fantastic as well. The staff are all exceptionally friendly and helpful, the facilities are clean and great, and I always enjoy going!
I’ve been going to Origin for several months now and working with Dr. Mariam and she’s great! The exercises and treatments have been helpful, she really cares about getting to the bottom of my issues (she has even done research outside of our sessions), and she’s such a kind person. Highly recommend Origin for any physical therapy needs!
I chose Origin Physical Therapy due to their virtual options for PT. I was pleasantly surprised at how effective it is to receive online therapy. Mariam Taha from Origin in West Hollywood was absolutely amazing!!! She explained everything and demonstrated all the exercises so clearly. Within the first week, I felt improvement and she helped me every step of the way over the next several months. In addition to her knowledge and expertise, I have to say her positive attitude and custom plans for my specific needs made all the difference in the world. Shes an optimistic, experienced healer and physical therapist. I highly recommend her to anyone for all their PT needs.
Origin is such an incredible place for any person looking to improve their pelvic floor health. I am so grateful to have met Mariam, she is truly so caring and committed to improving the health and well-being of all her patients. She truly brings so much knowledge, skill and compassion into each treatment session. If youre thinking about pelvic floor PT, Origin is the place to go!
I established care here for hip/buttock pain related to pregnancy. Since the pain has improved I continue working with them to create a pregnancy appropriate exercise/strengthening routine and look forward to more labor/delivery specific sessions when the time comes. I have thus far worked with 2 therapists and they are both great (Mariam and Jada). The facility is clean and welcoming. I really recommend establishing care with them during pregnancy as I have found the therapists to be an excellent resource. I am lucky in that my health insurance pays for the service, so with only a small co-pay this is a total no-brainer.
I was prescribed physical therapy after the birth of my 2nd child to treat bladder prolapse. I was pretty frustrated as I dont believe the US provides ample education or post-natal care for new mothers and felt my prolapse could have been avoided with the right instruction/care. Anyway, I started my treatment at Origin with Mariam who is a true delight. I vented all of my frustrations at our first session and she listened, agreed and explained some of her thoughts on maternal care and the reasons she got into pelvic physical therapy. Throughout my treatment Mariam was so compassionate, understanding, and really helpful. She made me feel comfortable at each session and ultimately helped ease my symptoms. I felt like she was a friend who I could share most anything with. I would 100% recommend Mariam for post-natal care, and urge pregnant women to speak with their doctors to get prenatal referrals to strengthen their pelvic floor before birth (I wish I had). Im grateful to Mariam for offering such skilled and empathic support during such an emotional time in my life.
I had a wonderful experience at Origins - from the admin/on-boarding process to the two wonderful therapists I worked with postpartum, Johanna Hanley (who then went on maternity leave) and Mariam Taha. They both made me feel super comfortable, made sure that I was doing well and that I kept progressing towards my goals. I loved their holistic approach and how much they tailored their support to meet me where I was. The portal is super easy-friendly and has tons of resources for you to keep practicing at home. 100% recommend!
I recently gave birth to my 2nd child and was told to get pelvic floor PT at Origin. I had my 1st child in NYC and was never advised to work on this post birth. I am so glad this time to have gotten the help I needed. After looking through profiles of therapists, I decided to book with Mariam Taha. At first, I felt unsure if I needed to do this type of therapy, but after working with her, I felt results pretty quickly. I recall having certain symptoms after my 1st child and not understanding why. Now I understand! Everything was done online from the comfort of my home and holding my baby or having him nearby. Mariam was very kind, very professional and easy to work with. She gave me great exercises that were totally doable and without any equipment. She also made sure I was aware of things that may be obvious (eg. like how many times a week I need to do exercises for results.) I felt happy every session working with her. And it is obvious she cares about her patients as she was very happy to hear when my symptoms were improving. Thanks, Mariam!
I came here consistently for eight months and chose to leave even though I am nowhere near the end of my treatment because of the callous and mean-spirited behavior of the front desk. This clinic has the most unprofessional, rude, and incompetent front desk staff Ive ever encountered. Origin has the potential to be such a crucial intervention in making womens health accessible and raising awareness about the importance of pelvic floor physical therapy, but it will never be that because of the bully-like behavior of the front desk and the inability of the clinic director, Rachel, to take accountability.Someone else mentioned in their review about how rude and dismissive the front desk is, and I wish they went into further detail about their experience because I know I am not the only one. I came in for an appointment and explained a billing issue I had to someone at the front desk, and she assured me she would handle it. Spoiler alert - she did not handle it. (Also, their billing is a complete mess, I could write another lengthy post on their possibly unethical billing practices, but Ill spare you from those details). After I left my appointment, I noticed the issue was not resolved and called to follow up. The person who answered the phone kept aggressively saying Im not the person you spoke to as I was trying to explain the problem to her, refused to help me, gave me attitude, kept cutting me off, and hung up the phone on me. I have never been treated so poorly, so rudely, so incompetently, and so unprofessionally. And heres the thing, I can actually let the incompetence slide, because even though you shouldnt have to, incompetency is something you can work around; a culture of callousness and bully-like behavior is not. This is a place where a high number of patients have experienced some type of trauma, where patients have to be vulnerable and confront very emotional and difficult things, and it needs to feel like a safe and trusting space. The front desk staff prevents this from happening. My PT worked really, really, really hard for eight months to create a space of safety, trust, and care, and it was all broken and undone within literal seconds because of a mean-spirited bully at the front desk. The front desk staff should be inconsequential to your treatment, but they are so cold, rude, dismissive, and just straight up mean here that I no longer felt safe or comfortable coming in.When I reached out to the clinic director, Rachel, she asked if she could give me context, which was that the front desk person I spoke to originally didnt communicate with the others. While this is context for why the front desk is incompetent, this is not context for the unprofessional and rude behavior. There is no context for your front desk staff, who are supposed to offer a semblance of customer service, to refuse to help, bully, be dismissive, and hang up the phone. Who hangs up a phone on a patient?! In a clinic that deals heavily with trauma!? There are so many things Rachel could have said to rectify the situation and she didnt, which is probably why the unprofessional and rude behavior of the front desk goes unchecked and continues. If you need pelvic floor PT do not come here. There are so many other options. Just because this is the first place that shows up on google does not mean that its the best place. I will also say, I was asked to write a positive review for them a few months ago - so all of the positive reviews you see here in such a short span of time from a few months ago, take them with a grain of salt. If you are coming here because your insurance covers it, go to Cedars, UCLA, or USC. If you are paying out of pocket absolutely do not come here. There are so many places that operate from a place of warmth, compassion, and safety, from the PTs, to the clinic director, to the front desk, and this just isnt one of those places.
My OBGYN recommended me to do my pelvic floor PT at Origin given that I was carrying a heavy baby and had had hip injuries in the past. Hence, pelvic and hip health was of outmost importance. I was lucky to be seen by Dr. Mariam Taha. Dr.Taha has excellent bedside manners and she is also a great teacher, as I have benefited greatly from the breathing and strengthening exercises she has imparted on me. Most recently I returned to see Dr. Taha for postpartum care. I am hoping to see good results soon.
I had such a good experience at Origin, specifically with Mariam! She was always so patient & informative, I really gained a lot of ground going to PT here. They have so many cool services, eternally grateful to the whole team
I began working with Dr. Mariam Taha after a bad ski accident resulted in the tibial plateau fracture of my right leg. Following the injury, it felt like I was going through a revolving door of never-ending physical therapy as I no longer knew how to train or push myself without causing sprains or aggravated flare-ups. It was incredibly frustrating and I assumed living with constant knee, ankle, and hip aches would be the new normal. After a consultation, Dr. Taha designed a training program specifically tailored to my needs. In addition to a full body workout, the program focuses on strengthening and improving range of motion in my knee. So now not only do I have killer abs, but I’m also able to do movements and exercises my surgeon and PT doctors deemed no longer possible.Mariam’s warmth, kindness, and expertise are unmatched. She excels at helping you overcome the mental and physical fears that come with working through a significant injury. Her modifications to exercises are always spot-on, and she instinctively knows how to push you just beyond your comfort level, yet to a point that won’t cause injury. I trust her implicitly, and know without her guidance I wouldn’t be able to maintain an active, pain-free lifestyle. Her programs are fun and innovative, result in noticeable progress, and she always makes sure to check in and ask for feedback. Dr. Taha is truly the best of the best and I couldn’t imagine working with anyone else!
Origin is honestly an ideal PPT provider. I loved the thoughtful intake questionnaire. The space is clean and friendly and private. My physical therapist Sabrina is so supportive and kind, celebrating each small improvement and answering all my questions thoughtfully and candidly. I actually look forward to my appointments here. Their online portal with your treatment plan, info material, and demonstration videos is one of the best and most intuitive I’ve ever seen. It makes keeping up with my physical therapy so much easier. There isn’t parking on site, but I’ve never had trouble finding close street parking. Highly highly recommend.
I have the privilege of receiving care from an outstanding pelvic floor physical therapist at Origin Physical Therapy, Rachel. Shes a healthcare provider who is concerned about your wellbeing holistically and maintains the utmost professionalism. I trust her completely with my care and have seen remarkable improvements. I feel lucky to be her patient. I am so grateful for Rachels exceptional care and warm personality. Highly recommended!
I have had such an amazing experience with Origin! I’m over 8 months pregnant and have been working with Dr Rachel McCarthy-Moya, who has been wonderful. She answers all my questions and has helped me feel so confident about giving birth + recovery. The staff is friendly and helpful, and the PT exercises I get come in a user-friendly and attractive interface that I can access easily from my computer, phone or iPad. It’s obvious that everyone at Origin really cares about the work they do, and making care enjoyable and accessible.
Origin is a kind, welcoming, and supportive place for PT! After several months at Origin & with Dr. Mariam Tahas guidance, I finally started healing from my injury and completed my care plan at the end of 2023. A wonderful space!
I had a wonderful experience at Origin. If your issues are not pregnancy related and youre wondering if Origin can still help, the answer is yes! My therapist, Dr. Mariam Taha, was the absolute best. On top of being incredibly knowledgable, Dr. Taha is so warm and welcoming. From the first appointment, she made me feel comfortable and was very encouraging. She works with you at your pace. With Dr. Tahas help, I was able to accomplish all my PT goals, which genuinely made a difference in my everyday life. The space itself is lovely, and the staff is fantastic. While its true that appointments book up quickly and your PT may not have an appointment available for a few weeks, they have a really well-run waitlist system where you can get a call or text about any appointments that open up, which worked out for me multiple times. I highly recommend Origin PT and Dr. Mariam Taha!
I would recommend Mariam Taha to anyone looking for holistic pelvic floor care. She is a caring and compassion therapist. She has been an excellent resource for me.
Origin is fantastic! I didnt even know something like this existed during my first pregnancy, but when sciatica hit me in week 12 of this pregnancy, I knew I was going to need help to get through 40 weeks. My OB recommended Origin, and Im so grateful he did! Its an office full of women, focused on women. Theyre extremely knowledgeable about what happens to a womans body throughout pregnancy, and I feel so supported and cared for. Each week we tweak the exercises and stretches as needed. Love it!
Sabrina, along with the rest of the Origin PT team, have been super friendly and helpful since my first phone call to set up an appointment. Ive been experiencing pain in my hips from my pregnancy and Sabrina has given me very helpful tips and exercises, along with being very patient and listening to/taking into account everything I have to say. I highly recommend this practice!!
I was misdiagnosed by the PT at Origin and was told that my pelvic floor muscles are in perfect health, even though I’ve been struggling with excruciating pain for months. Because of the misdiagnosis I ended up suffering for another 6 months, was unable to sit, work, exercise and live my normal life. Only after seeing another PT (different clinic, not Origin) and being properly diagnosed with overly tight pelvic floor muscles, and after receiving proper myofascial & muscle release therapy, I started getting better. I was also told by my latest PT that it was impossible to miss my problem, since it was pretty severe.
Diagnosed with Type 1 MRKH for over 10 years (Im 22). I was ready to start doing something about it & began here. I dont feel alone and Dr. Johanna has been nothing but kind to me. Here I learned my diagnosis doesnt affect my body so much as the mind. Forever grateful for the ladies here! (Just be careful about parking, its NARROW)
I would recommend Dr. Mariam Taha to anyone looking for a pelvic floor physical therapist. She is extremely knowledgeable, kind and caring.
Mariam is an amazing Physical Therapist. She has helped me focus on strength training and building up my confidence with new exercises.
I feel so lucky that I found Origin. Everyone is so welcoming and caring and has made a huge positive impact on my healthEasy to schedule appointments online and there is plenty of street parking!
Origin is the best, and the West Hollywood location is amazing! I started seeing Sydney after the birth of my son (first time mother) and it really helped me recover from a prolapse issue, and to re-educate my core. It also feels so good to take care of myself and having someone taking care of me every week. I definitely recommend it!
I love Dr. Tahas thoughtful approach to providing holistic care. She is an amazing resource and Im grateful to have her support.
The staff here is so amazing and the overall concept is so reassuring for woman having any issues. I started coming after an endometriosis related surgery and have loved it. Highly recommend.
Mariam gave me great info and advice during my prenatal and postpartum journey!
My PT Ana is great very detail oriented and kind. The place is beautiful as well. I highly recommend!
Compassionate, caring, professional and educational. Excellent experience.
Great and caring staff!
Lovely space and physical therapists.
