Only reason I’m giving it even 1 star is because the cashier girl was really nice. I called prior to scheduling my appointment for a shot. I wasn’t told how much it was going to cost without insurance. The website didn’t say either. I drove almost 2 hours for them to tell me it was going to be $197-$250 FOR A SHOT. I’ve been on the shot for a year & a half & got it from another location that has since closed down. This was the next location I was directed to. I had a panic attack & spoke to my husband, who reluctantly agreed to pay this time since we had no choice & no prior warning. I told the lady at the check in desk we couldn’t pay more than the price given ($197-$250). She then looked at a chart & said “it’s going to be $197” I said “$197?” To confirm. She said “yes” I asked if I could pay now & she said wait until after the doctor sees me. Which I had a bad feeling about. I scheduled my appointment 2 weeks in advance for 2:40. I didn’t get a room until 3:20. Girl came in & asked me questions & put me in their system. Then the doctor didn’t come in until 45 minutes later. Asked me multiple questions the other girl already asked. I knew they were going to try to charge me for consultation so I just kept repeating that I already knew everything & have been on the shot for almost 2 years. Then I went to pay & the girl tells me it’s $259. After they told me up front it was $197, which I confirmed with them before cancelling the appointment & she told me yes. $259 for A SHOT that takes 60 seconds to give me is INSANE. Then the girl said “I know they told you it was $197 up front. So do you want to pay that now & the rest later on your account?” So she confirmed I was told $197. Apparently $197 was just for the shot & the extra $62 was scammed out of me I assume because the doctor tried to have a consultation with me even though I kept telling her I already knew everything & she kept insisting on telling me everything anyways. Definitely got scammed for more money for sure. I reluctantly paid it because what else was I supposed to do? I proceeded to walk into the waiting room & saw it was empty & they took care of everyone else before me. Which is why I was in a room for 45min even though I scheduled my appointment 2 weeks in advance & checked in 5min early than my appointment time. Well obviously my husband was furious, given I was told $197 when I went back in to the check in desk & confirmed the price before proceeding with my appointment. When he went in to confront them, they lied & said “we told her about all that” no. They said $197-$250 originally but when I expressed we couldn’t afford it, they told me it was just gonna be $197, which is why I proceeded with the appointment, instead of walking out. After everything they told me, I repeated EVERYTHING back to them for confirmation every single time & they said yes every time. They definitely scam you to get more money out of you. I shouldn’t have paid nearly $300 for A SHOT. Planned Parenthood is supposed to be a charity to help people who can’t afford these things. Everyone is greedy & money hungry nowadays. It’s really sad & according to the other reviews I’ve read, many other people also experienced the long wait/neglect & expensive prices. Do not go to this location if you don’t have insurance!! Look for another location & demand they tell you the cost ahead of time. Or order through the app. Yall be careful!
I have been coming here for years. Started when the location was on Magazine way back. They are so much more personable and welcoming than any other womens health doctors Ive seen throughout my life. Everyone is so kind. The facilities are super clean and updated. Wait times short. Every time I come here I learn something new about available services and/or what I should continue to do for my body as I age. Im so grateful.
I’ve never felt more comfortable in a doctor’s office! I didn’t get the ladies’ names who did my vitals and drew my blood, but they were awesome. My nurse practitioner, Kelly Baquet, gave me advice and tips. She answered all questions thoroughly. They made me feel at home. I was not judged. I will be back, and I have recommended this location to my family and friends.
Came here for a routine checkup. Kelly is really chill, and Ms. Pat was an angel sent from heaven after I was about pass out after getting my blood drawn lol. Only difficult thing is scheduling. Some insurances are accepted by PP but theyll say out of network if you schedule online. Nothing that calling up to schedule cant fix. Other than that, really good visit!
Always been my go to. Not too much of a wait. Ashtie took care of me in the beginning and was full of laughs. and of course Kelly is one of the best to be booked with . Thanks.
Yall need to let people know when their insurances are out of network before the time of appointment. absolutely insane getting smacked with over $200 in fees you were blissfully unaware of because nobody bothered to contact you. i spoke with three separate people over the phone before my appointment and not a single one bothered to say anything. the NP and workup staff were great and its a shame that im rating so low because i really did like the medical care given. but this is just absurd.also, my insurance claims they are in network. so i have no idea what really is going on, but this was easily preventable from the clinics side.
I made an appointment for 10:20. Came at 10:05 (with the “Drs” DOOR DASH driver .) immediately was buzzed in.Got called to the back and asked basic questions at 11:00. Got my blood drawn & Was told to put my urine sample in the mailbox. There was some one else’s sample already in there. So contamination was definitely possible. I Got Forgotten about in a room for over an hour ( the “Dr ” and assistant thought this was hilarious, i did not) . in that time I could hear atleast 3 women praying and gossiping about pregnancy. Discussing the weather and what they were ordering for lunch. Then the “ Dr” came in and asked me questions i had already answered. She was also rude and rushed. They are so unprofessional that when the rude CNA asked me was I on any medications, I answered honestly. Then they tried to send me out a prescription for my anxiety medication i have been on for years, on top of it all I paid $200 JUST to get tested. No care, no personal help, nothing. Just a cash grab. So sad they pretend to advocate for women. Save your money. These women do not care anymore. Planned parenthood used to be for the peoplesCare , but now it’s religious people hiding in scrubs to trap new victims .
Everyone here was very kind, answered the questions I had to their best ability, and did their best to make me feel comfortable. Felt like a positive environment!
I LOVE this planned parenthood. The providers spend the time needed to ensure a thorough and caring visit. Videos in the waiting room educate about consent and sex education and there are posters and quotes around the place that help it feel inclusive and supportive of personal choice, bodily autonomy, interracial families and LBGTQ inclusivity. I love my doctors here and the whole team! Professional and caring.
Made a follow up appointment after my vasectomy here and cleared the timing of it with two separate people (a nurse and a receptionist), which I have in writing on MyChart. I showed up to the appointment and was told both of those people were in error telling me what they did, and that an analysis could not be performed until exactly 12 weeks after. One hour round-trip to get there and two hours of PTO from my work wasted by incompetence.
Horrible! My car broke down so I had to walk from Prytania st all the way to the Claiborne clinic. It is 49 degrees outside & when I showed up I was sweating! This lets you know how fast I was walking! I get there 19 minutes after my appointment time & only 2 people are in the waiting room. The website says 20 minutes but when I walk in she tells me 15 minutes even when I showed her. How are people supposed to check their health when we have ignorant & heartless receptionists turning customers away! Don’t even waste your time!
I had two visits at this location, one telehealth to get me started on testosterone and one visit to the lab for STI testing. After the first appointment, they didn’t communicate properly with insurance and didn’t tell me, so I was stuck waiting for my prescription to pass through insurance not knowing that they weren’t actually doing anything. I ended up calling insurance 3 times (who hadn’t received anything from PP) and PP 7 times before finally getting the T a month after the appointment. I would spend 45 minutes to an hour on hold each time. It is impossible to get in contact with your doctor unless it is during an appointment, so better hope you need no follow-up or have the extra cash to fork up to talk to them. The second appointment was only STI testing and hemoglobin testing, yet they diagnosed it as “transgender” and, as a result, my insurance wouldn’t cover it. Additionally, they marked it as an appointment even though it was only labs, which sent the price skyrocketing. I waited my 45 minutes on hold to leave a message with the finance department telling them to call me back, which they did not. I called again a few days later and the finance woman was snippy and just repeated that insurance said they wouldn’t cover it because it was marked with transgender and refused to acknowledge what I would say about the visit not actually being trans care. She got fed up with me and said she would leave a message with the clinic itself for them to call back and handle me, which of course they never did. So now I’m saddled with a $450 bill that I can’t pay all because of Planned Parenthood’s mistake. They messed up one of the three STI tests they ordered and requested I return to redo them, but I am too terrified that they will charge me $450 for labs again if I step within their premises.edit: After posting this review, they got in contact with me, apologized, and fixed the issue!
Made appointment regarding emergency situation via phone. I informed rep on phone that I have a medical exception complete with a letter from my doctor stating so. I was put on hold so she could check with her supervisor. I was told that since the city is no longer under a mandate and since I have a letter from my doctor that this would not be an issue. I arrived for my appointment and since I was unable to wear a mask, I was directed to wait in a separate room. I waited over 20mins. After that I was called back to the reception area to speak with a supervisor. The supervisor told me that it didnt matter what I was told via phone, they were refusing to see me because I am unable to wear a mask. I asked since I was here for an emergency situation, what could be done. She told me that I could be treated there if I decided to wear a mask. I again showed her the letter from my doctor stating my medical exception and she refused to look. She literally treated me like having this conversation was an inconvenience to her day.
Every single person that helped me here from the phone assistant to the security to the front desk to the nursing assistants to the nurses and doctors were all incredibly kind and attentive and helpful and talented. one of the best experiences Ive had at the doctor!
This location is terrible. If you work during regular business hours, you will never get an appointment. I have an hour during the days when I can make virtual appointments, but twice now they haven’t sent me the email that grants you access into my appointment. I will call and be on hold during my entire break. In addition the DRs are often very late for online appointments so this really isn’t a great option if you have limited time.
Doctor was excellent and professional but the individual u first meet who is not a doctor is very rude. Will not come no more but I wish we could just see the doctor straight and not the most and unprofessional assistant u see first . The black girl was disrespectful. Giving the doctor 5 stars but the others 3 stars.
Fantastic staff, wonderful people, safe, clean, and all do so much to help even someone like me get vaccines/tests + keep educated. This PP provides what local NOLA needs vs what many outside Orleans Parish don’t understand as they don’t live in Cities like NOLA. All said let’s all help and support the local PP nearest where u live like this one for me.
I had a bad experience here, waited 2 hours after my appointed time and then was prescribed something that wasnt even available in the states and when the wallgreens called 4 times throughout the day for a new prescription and I had to call back myself and wait on hold for 30 minutes, they closed early and told me that they couldnt help me and never bothered to call back the wallgreens. The nurse that I saw was kind, and she deserves the star.Terrible customer service.
It disappoints me to have to give the facility a 1 star rating because its not the quality of care that Im basing my rating on; Im rating it 1 star because they only accept BlueCross/BlueShield on Wednesdays! Ive been going to PP for well over 10 years now and I have never encountered this issue before and its very inconvenient as I now have to schedule an appointment around my monthly cycle, payday, work AND now I have to make sure its a Wednesday. I will be filing a complaint when I go to my appointment, 3 weeks from now on a Wednesday.
I love my doctor’s. they make it easy an confutable I drive over an hour just to see them at this location!! Always call me back when I need something an seem to really care about there patients!!
I called to ask for gynecologist recommendations. I was told they dont do that and to call 211 for possibilities. I cant afford one. Isnt that the whole reason planned parenthood exists? To help with this kind of stuff? At least to recommend someone that wont charge an arm and a leg? What use is this place if they dont even have doctors to recommend? What a joke.
I get my birth control prescription from planned parenthood to prevent unwanted pregnancy. They are always professional and kind. Yes its a wait but there is forewarning, bring a book & patience. They do alot of amazing work for women, families & the community.
Had appointment....went to pp for years before and they always went based off income...when did that stop? Went to appoint and was tokd had to pay 80 for visit! Like Im what? Thought you did based off income now I have to wait another 2 weeks for an appointment I made somewhere else that does base pay off income. I will not go to another planned parenthood...
I never really had any problems with getting my birth control through planned parenthood. My appointments are sometimes slow & behind schedule time.
Loveddd everything about my visit at this planned parenthood . The whole visit was better than my regular Gyno office . I wouldn’t mind coming back. Very clean and informative and helpful. Loved the Nurse Practitioner Tamika !
Thanks for the easy, helpful visit! The staff were friendly and the nurse practitioner made me feel comfortable right away. The facility was clean and I would definitely recommend!
Definitely the cleanest and most professional doctors office I have ever seen. Great facilities and the people there were very helpful and nice. I would recommend to everyone.
I had a really nice experience at this location. Everyone was very friendly, informative and discreet. I was in and out very quickly.
Pretty disappointed that I came in for testing, left a $50+ donation, and now they wont mail me my results or the information to log in to this ridiculous portal to see them. Theyve dodged giving me the info for over a month. Pathetic.
I literally love the place on Claiborne but as far as the call center for planned parenthood it’s ridiculous. They are hard to get in touch with and the wait period is very long on the phone.
Literally how do I make an appt. I need to get my implant out but everytime I call it says they’re closed and not taking in person appts then hangs up.
They are unprofessional I told them I had a serious problem with my birth control shot and they told me I could not come in I had to come in another day so I recommend nobody go there if you don’t want anyway problems with your body!
My doctor ia amazing! Best gyno doctor ive been to & i plan on staying with her! 5 stars!
I always have a great experience at planned parenthood. Super clean, very friendly, and helpful.
This place charges $59.00 for urine pregnancy tests if you do not have insurance. I thought Planned Parenthood was supposed to be free.
Who ever is working right now isnt answering the phone. They pick up and hang up. I have been waiting for 30 minutes. Hung up on twice and the automated system says Im the next caller each time I call.
If I could give zero stars, totally would. Does not provide the help to women they promise
The wait is so long. You can make an appointment but it doesnt matter their not going to get to you at that time anyways.
Nothing but professionals every time I go . Everyone is warm and welcoming
The thing a the front desk ....needs to be fired!!wasnt helpful at all...I will not go back!!!
The waiting is too long 😐 I am so dessapointed, I have waited for 2hrs.
Always had a great experience...
Severely unpleasant experience.
Im never coming here again!!!!!!
Great service
