I cannot say enough great things about Dr Dovey and Spring Fertility. I came to Spring after receiving crushing news from another clinic (I’d never be able to conceive with my own eggs). Dr Dovey and the team were willing to continue trying with my own eggs and showed patience, care and compassion at every turn. They recommended new supplements and a new medication protocol that allowed us to retrieve 4 of my own eggs that turned into embryos.I never felt rushed with Dr Dovey and she always listened to and considered every one of my questions/suggestions, she was willing to modify certain recommendations after I’d shared certain concerns or past experiences. I’ve also seen other providers when Dr Dovey was out of office and they treated me with the same level of top-notch care. Thanks to Dr Dovey, I am 26 weeks pregnant with our miracle baby - we would not be here without her.
I froze my eggs with Spring in 2021 and turned eggs into embryos in 2023. In general, I recommend Spring for egg freezing. The process was streamlined, straightforward, and involved a lot of face time with their doctors.I do not recommend Spring for IVF (which is a bit of a catch-22 if you have your eggs there). When we made embryos, our results were much worse than expected due to poor egg quality. I specifically asked about my endo diagnosis and effect on egg quality then and was told my egg quality should be fine because I was young (31). More notably, when I suggested that I get endo excision surgery prior to transfer, I was told surgery would have no impact on my fertility. Fortunately I didnt listen because I opted for the surgery and conceived naturally immediately after. Ive heard from a number of others that Spring is cavalier about failed transfers. Its hard to know whether their protocols are bad, or whether their advice is profit motivated. I raise these concerns about their endo savvy in part because the research suggests that up to 80% of infertile women have endo.Spring is definitely better than Kaiser for IVF, but based on my experience and the experiences of others, Id recommend working with Dr. Aimees clinic, or Dr. Huddleston at UCSF.
I had a positive experience, overall, with Spring and Dr. Dovey. I came to their clinic with diminished ovarian reserve at age 40. We were told our chances were low but there was some hope. After 2 years, multiple cycles, two failed transfers, and laproscopic surgery (through Kaiser) for endometriosis, I got pregnant with our very last embryos - which were Day 3 embryos, not blastocyst. Im so glad Spring allows freezing at Day 3 because although I had very few eggs I seemed to have good quality eggs. Dr. Dovey was kind and patient with us. She seemed invested in our journey and flexible about the alternative paths we sometimes wanted to take.We also had a great experience with our primary nurse, Mel. She was super communicative and always warm/personable. I still had to be an active participant in my infertility journey and sometimes make decisions that deviated from the norm but Im so grateful this technology exists and I was able to grow my family. Thank you, Dr. Dovey and Spring!
I know that fertility is not an easy task for many families that are having issues. I tried with my ex-wife with UCSF, and another clinic in the South Bay many years before without success. When I got remarried my wife wanted to have children and I knew first hand about the trials of going through fertility woes, but was hopeful that we would have success. My wife found Spring Fertility online and we had an online consultation since it was during the beginning of Covid back in Summer of 2020. When it came time to having the procedure the team seemed to be far better than previous clinics I had gone to in the past. I was very hopeful, but as a person having gone through it before nothing is for certain and you can really only hope for the best.We were assigned to Dr. Fischer who was in the San Francisco office at the time, as they didnt even have the amount of offices they have today. And as they are celebrating 8 years of practice, we must have been with them during their 4th year of operations. The process was fantastic and I really appreciated the team with their assistance along the way. We were assigned with Mel who was always available and super helpful with any questions we had when the Doctor was busy. We had a first round of IVF and unfortunately after genetic testing we didnt have any viable embryos. But my wife was determined and we did a second round of IVF and were lucky to have two viable embryos a boy and a girl. We decided to have them randomize the choice and thankfully the embryo implanted well to which 9 months later we ended up with a boy!Today he is almost 3 years old and about a year later we went for the second implantation. Would you know, our second was also a success and was born on the same day as the first one. So now we are about to celebrate her first birthday on the same day as our sons.We really thank the team at Spring Fertility who were top notch and were super supportive even when we moved out of the country and had to come back for the second procedure. Everything worked out in the end, and we are super happy with the success. Thank you for not just 1 but 2 wonderful children!
Spring Fertility, and Dr. Dovey in particular, was such a gift for us. Everyone there was compassionate to the pain of infertility and loss, informative, related, and kind. Being able to work with Dr. Dovey and her care team was incredible. I felt so held, and so grateful that they were excited with us at each little win along the way. It’s such an emotional process - we laughed and cried at different times, and were glad to be able to do both. The care was very consent based, in large and small ways. I always felt “in the know” as much as possible. We were very lucky that our first frozen embryo transfer took! We now have a beautiful baby girl, who is the light of our lives. We are so in love and are so aware that we likely wouldn’t be here without Dr. Dovey, her care team, and Spring. Infertility sucks, and we are so lucky and grateful that we found this team to help us fight for our family.
I had an absolutely wonderful experience doing IVF w/ Dr. Okeigwe and would highly recommend her and the Spring Fertility care team in Oakland. The clinic is great with amazing customer service! The team was so friendly and caring and I felt very supported with all of the information I needed throughout my journey. It was a seamless process between Springs wealth of info through hybrid appointments (I had my initial consult on video due to a COVID positive test and then followed with the ultrasound later). I had several virtual calls and trainings to cover medications and my trigger shots which helped me feel comfortable in what is typically very overwhelming!Dr. Okeigwe is also so pleasant and has great bedside manner and I felt that I could trust her completely. I decided to freeze both eggs and embryos with IVF and literally moments before my procedure strategized with her on how many eggs to freeze based on how many they retrieved. I was so comforted knowing that she was going to make the right decisions on my behalf while I was under. As a Black woman, I have my own fears about the fertility process and I have fibroids and endo which I was nervous would create complications. It felt great to have Dr. Okeigwe as a provider that cares. I didnt feel like I needed to overadvocate for my needs, the whole team was always listening to me as a patient.
Top notch egg freezing process! I worked with Dr. Okeigwe and her amazing care team. My plan was tailored to me and my personal needs including migraine aura and being very sensitive to birth control hormones. Very up to date medicine. I felt taken care of. Everyone was responsive. They do everything they can to help keep the cost down (I got a big discount for being an RN and Alto, the pharmacy, provided a lot of savings, I saved over $1,300 applying for a savings program through Alto). Everyone was so pleasant, the facility is modern, the snacks were on point. When I went in for my egg freezing and sat with IV fluids before the procedure they asked if I wanted my chair heated and the massager turned on... what?? So happy with the outcome, I got so many eggs at 36 years old. So amazing, all around, look no further, choose this place for your egg freezing.
As a Black woman, seeking excellent healthcare has always been stressful. We are treated differently, and Ive always had to fight to get proper health care.At first, I was so nervous about this procedure because I hate needles, and I didnt know if I would be treated like a human being. Ive wanted to freeze my eggs for a while because I havent found my life partner yet. So, I wanted to make sure that I had options for my future.Thank you to everyone at Oakland Spring Fertility for giving me such a fantastic experience. But, I especially want to thank Dr. Okeigwe for guiding me through the process of freezing my eggs. Shes a GEM, and its so rare to find a Black fertility doctor. I was and still am ECSTATIC that she was my doctor! She took such great care of me, and I was informed every step of the way of who, what, where, and why of everything I needed to know. Dr. Okeigwe even helped me heal a trigger. At 20 years old I was in a dangerously abusive relationship, and I became pregnant, and needed to have an abortion. Unfortunately, the doctor and nurses treated me like an animal and pinned me down while they did the procedure. So from there on, every time I went to an OBGYN and put my legs up, I would go into shock from that experience. I never thought that trigger would be healed. But, because Dr. Okeigwe listened to my story, answered all my questions, and equipped me with all of my options, the trigger began to go away. It got to the point where I would come in for a check-up, and we would laugh, and before I knew it, I was already lying down, looking up at all of my eggs progressing. This is why representation matters, and I know for a fact that I would not have received a better experience anywhere else. Give this woman a raise and hire more diverse fertility doctors!💛✨
Going through fertility treatment is tough at its best, and can be devastatingly difficult at its worst. I cannot possibly say enough good things about our experience at Spring and with Dr. Okeigwe. We felt so unbelievably taken care of throughout our experience. If you are looking for a fertility clinic that will make you feel like family, Spring is it. I will say that as a larger-bodied person going through this process, I found Dr. Okeigwes approach to be incredibly inclusive and compassionate. We worked with another RE there initially who was not this way (Serena Dovey), so its something to be aware of if you are in the same position. Once we realized it wasnt a great fit, it was handled immediately and from then on our experience could not have been better. We love Spring!
You get tons of promotional calls, spam, and boundary violations for $500. I wanted this place to freeze my eggs but they couldnt respond to an email. When they called me a full week later, they told me that they were not responding because of an app that they use now. Okay, there is such thing as an autoreply. Egg freezing is time sensitive and I need the clinic I go to to be on it. I will not be going with them for freezing eggs.
Dr. Dovey was fantastic to work with, every phlebotomist who assisted me was so skilled and every staff member was warm, welcoming and helpful. Would recommend this clinic to anyone looking for a straightforward process.
I wanted to believe they care based on all these reviews but truly all they care about is the money. How do you increase your IUI by 50% and not let someone know til the day before their initiation? With no changes to what happens? My first two IUI cycles were $1700 and they just increased to $2600! Im self-pay so I must be fine with an increase of $900? It is unethical to increase a price when someone comes to you and trusts you to do this ultra sensitive thing, youre told three times, and switch that big of gears on you without more forewarning. The people that post here have had successes, but those of us that havent are left believing its our own fault and with absolutely zero empathy from anyone... just come on in and make sure you sign this and pay right up front and take a seat, and prepare yourself to possibly pay more.
Late to deliver the the lab results and the refused to give me a copy of my result.
Without a doubt the best place to start any treatment. The staff are all very friendly and always willing to clarify any questions or concerns.
