This post is long overdue and I apologize for this. First of all, I truly thank God that Dr. Rettenmaier was the oncologist chosen to perform the surgeries that saved my life back in 1997-1998. I have been cancer free since then. I remember him as caring, benevolent, honest, knowledgeable, and affable -- more than any other doctor who Ive encountered throughout my life. The very mention of his name to other doctors, I would receive highly-regarded comments on how outstanding he is in his field. Dr. Rettenmaier, I thank you from the bottom of my heart for being you. May God bless you and keep you.

I called to schedule an appointment for Hematology. Dr. Rettenmaier called me via phone because I think calls go directly to him. Even though he specializes in a different field of medicine, he asked me what I needed. He was kind and helpful. He showed empathy and sent me the phone number for a hematologist to contact within minutes of our call ending. I would definitely chose him as my doctor. I truly appreciate his time.

In today’s world, he is the reason why I believe once upon a time people called Doctors “The Guardian Angels in the White Coats”. All I can say to this doctor is “Thank you and God Bless You” I’m the type who doesn’t leave many reviews, but I just don’t know what else I can do the express my appreciation to this doctor, when I asked how, his reply was “just take good care of yourself” He is very knowledgeable, full of compassion when I was expressing my fears and thoughts, very patient to listen and to answer questions. He would also guide you to the right path. Thank you so much Dr. Rettenmaier.

This so-called doctor has certainly screwed up my life.... And he got away with that.... because he lied.Someone said caring..... Do you think a caring doctor should never show up to ask the patient how she/he feels after the surgery? Mr. Rettenmaier doesnt. He doesnt give a dam what hes done to a patient. And he doesnt want to hear about your complaints. He wants you to praise him and talk about pleasant things, i.e. basketball games, his good looks, etc.And he would lie to you about your condition and would do nothing about it. Maybe he has changed in recent ten years... Maybe life has taught him something. Lets hope so....

My intent with this review is to give hope and guidance to many patients like me who were diagnosed with ovarian cancer. I am a 44-year-old female diagnosed with positive BRCA1. Thus, due to my BRCA1 risk, a full hysterectomy was performed on August 9 2019 as preventive measure. Two days later pathology report indicates I had an aggressive stage 2 cancer in my fallopian tube that extended to my two ovaries. Thus, a 2nd surgery was performed by gynecologist/oncologist surgeon Dr. Albert Mendivil. 2nd surgery was a success and Mr. Mendivil gave us the good news that all cancer was removed but chemo was needed to avoid relapse. My husband wanted a second opinion prior to starting chemo sessions. So, I searched online and called multiple offices with no success to obtain immediate consultation. On my last attempt at about 4:57pm, I called Dr. Mark A. Rettenmaier office and he answered the phone (amazing ah?).Doctor Mark A. Rettenmaier advised me his office was under remodeling an unable to see patients yet. However, he offered to clarify any concerns I had over the phone. I was so amazed of his kindness and good heart to hear me out and dissipate all my questions and fears. He also talked to my husband and assured my husband that the treatment suggested was the best option available for my type of cancer/diagnosis.Dr. Rettenmaier was extremely knowledge, patient, kind and compassionate. He was very encouraging and helped me focus on the “positive.” Dr. Rettenmaier also texted me a link which will answer additional questions I might not even think of yet. At the end of our consultation I asked him how to forward payment for his amazing consultation but he declined payment. He said he was glad he was able to help and offered me to call him if I had any other questions in the future. Dr. Rettenmaier spent like 25 minutes with us on the phone. So, YES people! There are still great doctors out there that really care and have the best interest in heart for the patient. I will recommend Dr. Mark A. Rettenmaier with my eyes closed.

I cannot express enough gratitude for this doctor. This doctor made himself available to answer all our questions (during the holidays) and put our mind to ease with his extensive experience and knowledge. When most doctors ask for your insurance information before they bother to help you, this doctor was only concerned about helping us. He is a wonderful and amazing human being and we are forever grateful to him.
