Im sad to see several others had poor experiences here but do not want to discount their experiences.I went in for a straightforward test panel and was seen at my appointment time. Their online booking system was very straightforward and walked me through each step to add myself as a client (I did not set up a pcp, only a quick panel). Some of the test results were available instantly, others required several days processing time from the lab. They said I would get my results within two weeks but it took much shorter time. I got them a few days later. The individual that administered the different tests was very respectful and thoroughly explained each part of the testing procedures before, during, and included thorough details about what to expect after. I feel like they treated me like they would any other patient and did not feel judged at all. The way they spoke was very grounding, which I am sure is helpful when clients/patients may be anxious. The administrative staff on the main level were very friendly and greeted me with cheer; however they did automatically misgender me despite me introducing myself and completing both the pre-check in and physical paper forms in office. The Mazzoni Center West is in the the heart of the Gayborhood. Though accessible via public transportation, the building itself is in an old brick building and not ADA compliant. There are several steps and staircases inside and narrow hallways/doors.I did not interact with billing and cannot speak to how anything involving insurance may operate but the staff downstairs did offer an explination of other things I could register for or schedule before I left.
I couldn’t leave this place without giving an excellent review, as the two times that I have gone, I was so grateful for the professionalism, respectfulness, reception and warmth that the staff showed me. Both times I have gone in for regular STI testing. For some people, the entire process of opening up about sexual experiences and knowing their status can be traumatic and/or cause a high level of anxiety. As a professional who works in countries where health systems are still very poor and client services can be very uncomfortable and cause a sense of lack of psychological safety, it is very refreshing to find places like Mazzoni that are non-judgmental and show care in the way they engage with patients. I’m very very thankful for the kindness that their staff show, and I would highly recommend for anyone looking for a safe space to find more information about the various services they provide or need a place for judgement-free testing. I am personally grateful that these types of health centers still exist and are accessible to everyone.
Went in with an obvious symptom. No treatment.Sent for labs.Didn’t return labs for 6days.Called me at 5pm Friday to tell me it did come positive. Still no prescription, asked me to come again on Monday for another round of checkup followed by another confirmatory lab? There goes another week untreated? No thank you! When asked for lab results so I can go to my own PCP or ER for treatment, they can’t release it as it’s after 5pm on Friday, and the earliest they can release it is on Monday? so I can’t even go somewhere else to get tested immediately as other places would also need to run labs or need a recent lab results. VERY DISAPPOINTED ☹️The procedure should go- first treat and send tests. Then when tests come back, confirm if it has been resolved. At least that’s what I’ve been taught (I’m a medical professional myself)Nobody with visible symptoms should be left untreated, let alone after one positive lab and absolutely not for 2 weeks.
I went to get tested as the website states they take walk-ins but they dont after getting an attitude from the desk worker for about 15 mins I was told to come back during the week at noon. Its a shame Ive been calling this place for about a week with no answer and wasted my time and money on going into the city because I thought they would help... this is not how I remembered it from my teens
Been going to the Bainbridge center for over a year now and I absolutely LOVE this clinic. I see Sam Wilburn monthly, and he has provided me with the best care I have ever experienced from a medical professional under any circumstances. In addition, the office staff are lovely people, and the nurses and phlebotomists who do my monthly blood labs are some of the most gentle hands in Philadelphia. I recommend this center to literally anyone and cannot rate it highly enough!
Surviving Mazzoni Center:Hi my name is Kymberlee and I am a single black mother whose life has been violated by Mazzoni Center. I joined therapy to have someone to express my woes, thoughts feelings of being a single black mother. Last Thursday was my third or fourth session even meeting with my therapist and I shared with her that sometimes I have trouble taking care of myself with my depression, further explained that I make sure I take care of my daughter but whenever I am baby free I am depressed and not taking care of myself and then it’s pretty much me wearing the same clothes everyday and that I have food for my daughter to eat but due to my diet restrictions as a pescatarian, I don’t have anything for me to eat. (Sorry to shared my personal business like that but it’s the truth we’ve all been there.) My therapist offered to share some resources to help me with my situation such as Mazzoni Centers Food Bank, and then next thing I know knock I get DHS sent to my house. Dhs explained that they went to two addresses as an attempt before they got to mine and that I will now be assigned a caseworker. My therapist lied to me when I confronted her saying that I was supposed to get a phone call when the form I am reading stated an unscheduled visit. Why? Because a single black mother vented to her and now my words were taken and misconstrued into lack of supervision of my daughter. I don’t even know where they even got lack of supervision from. I am outraged and deserve justice for my daughter and I because now there is an open investigation on my peaceful household and due to the miscommunication from DHS I kept my daughter home from daycare thinking they would come visit her so that we could resolve this FALSE REPORT AND SLANDER WHICH AFFECTED to work from home that day due to this inconvenience. I was lied to and my trust was broken. My advice is to get a journal and never trust a therapist from Mazzoni Center because they will come and try to snatch your baby if you’re going through a hard time. I wanted to share this story for any other BLACK SINGLE MOTHERS WHO HAVE BEEN IN MY POSITION AND I WANT TO PREVENT THIS EVER HAPPENING TO ANOTHER FAMILY AGAIN. My daughters father is outraged, my family is confused, and most importantly it FEELS like I will NEVER HEAL because Mazzoni Center made me stop trusting therapy, I will be contacting everyone I can to spread truth. If you are a single black woman and part of the LGBTQ+ community DO NOT TRUST THESE PEOPLE THEY JUST WANT TO BREAK FAMILIES APART AND LOCK YOU UP FOR VENTING. What I said WAS NOT A RED FLAG OR WARNING SIGN TO GET OUTSIDE FORCES INVOLVED AND I FEEL AS THOUGH A HIPPA LAW WAS BROKEN. Please protect yourself and your children from this nightmare they call a help center. They help break apart families and break your trust!! I just pray that my family stays together and strong through this difficult time.
Im on a 6-8 month waiting list per the receptionist..🫣😭 been off testosterone for over half the year already sadly enough... im depressed af. Im not from PA jus moved last month smh..
I scheduled a appointment for today yesterday and while I was being serviced I was refused certain testing. When I inquired about why I was being refused testing the person servicing me (Gianna) became very rude, aggressive, and ultimately disrespectful. She also lied and stated that there was a shortage of testing supplies and stated that I needed to go elsewhere to receive services. I told her I was not informed of that when I made my appointment nor before I was sent back to her from the person at the front desk. I also informed her that I saw the person in the next room in the hallway going to submit a sample for the test I came to their office for. She continued to be combative and said this is not a business so she doesn’t have to give me good customer service. I then spoke to Dean at the front desk who apologized and aligned with my grievances but I was still refused the testing I set an appointment up for and Gianna also lied and said there are signs on the door stating that their test are in short supply which the picture below shows that there were not. My time was wasted and I had never been disrespected or refused service here before and I’ve been coming as an advocate in the community for over 10 years. I will never return here and I hope that Gianna is fired or removed from a customer facing position. I will also be writing to the executive board to ensure this issue is addressed
This place is horrible. Staff is judgemental, disrespectful, and rude at both locations. West location, the staff is completely awful. This place is supposed to be safe, helpful, and informative. Mazzoni is far from that. Dont dare ask for parking advice. They get even more nasty. Its really sad you have to encounter staff like that at a vulnerable time.
WWP has always been a valuable asset in the community. My visit yesterday was very disappointing. Ive never been so rushed and treated so brutally. If this treatment happened to them at a traditional health service site, theyd be storming City Hall. The oppressed have become the oppressors.
Great stuff first - friendly, knowledgeable, hardworking, nonjudgemental, staff. FREE, confidential, rapid HIV (60 second results), STI testing, condoms, and LGBTQ community information. Open 6 days a week (Closed Sundays). Serves a vital role for the community. My only reservation - is there is only one bathroom for sample collection and when I was there, it was not clean or well stocked. There were about 10-15 other patrons there, so it is a popular place, and I would go back but I would bring my own Clorox wipes (personal preference). I am sure this is something the organization would be willing to work on.
Wonderful, sensitive, and professional care!
I went here for an hiv checkup but also received testing for gonorrhea, syphilis, and chlamydia. Very straight forward and perfect for anyone that wants to know their status quick and easy.
Very Non-judgmental and understanding!!! Free Testing and its quick!!! I recommend this place to anyone who wants a open minded, discreet, and Non-judgmental place to go....
I was there 3 days ago. Friendly staff, so caring and so patient. It was my first time there.
Fast service. Make an appointment for an expedited visit.
Great location for testing. I always feel comfortable, informed and respected going here.
Excellent location serving the community with free STI and HIV testing.
Unprofessional . In brief look to spend the entire day in here for a 2 minute service .
Very helpful
