I cannot say enough good things about Pivot, this is not for Prims health care, the facility they operate out of. My partner and I have been going here for years. They are always beyond kind and always feel safe. I love that my partner and I can use them regardless of our income and can simply donate to them when we can.
I had a very nice experience in this clinic. Tim was the best professional, friendly, explaining everything clear, and answering all Qs. With no rush. Medical environment needs people like him.
This is such an awesome place to go. The lobby is very clean and organized with great decorations. This isnt really important, but I rarely find myself enjoying the lobby music of most places I go to and I was even singing along at some parts. Overall they were very professional, friendly, and the whole process was much faster than I expected. I usually feel a bit uncomfortable and anxious when I go for my annual check up, so to find a place this welcoming was a game changer. They also have a bunch of other great resources to help you succeed in finding coverage and treatment. Highly recommend if you want quality service and staff that treat you like a real person.
Lovely staff! the phlebotomist was so friendly and found my vein on the first try - im cursed with extremely hard-to-find veins and often have to get poked 3+ times so that was a pleasant surprise :)
Pivot has played a large roll in my sexual health now for years. They are there for me when I am in a position to not afford proper health care coverage but also when I have it and am able to donate to support the good that they do.I have been utilizing Pivots services since I first moved to Portland and while sometimes their free clinic hours can be crazy town they do the best they can with the resources they have available and still seem to pull off a pretty great thing. So heres the deal, you have to show up early because sometimes there is even a line before the door opens. They set aside the proper amount of time for each testing/screening so its about 4 per hour. They have 2 screeners so if you are number 8 expect to be there for up to two hours. I believe they can only do 3 hours of testing so they do have a cut off and have to turn some folks away typically. This can not be easy for them as they know this service is needed so be kind in your reactions and patient with you time.I am not going to list the free screen days/times as they may change but do visit their website for the latest info and note that the location has changed to SE Belmont. The new space is beautiful, great retro building, clean new facilities and set up for exactly what they are offering. The acoustics however are less than ideal for both staff and patient so be respectful and quiet when appropriate. Check in is supposed to be anonymous and private but the layout of the lobby hinders most of that. Some reviews have listed poor services or bad customer service. I am sure the staff rotates over the years and I have been fortunate to have nothing but kind and wonderful people to help me. Pro tip: if you just need a rapid HIV test screening they can usually do those throughout the evening as they are done separate from the full screenings.I HIGHLY recommend utilizing their services if you need them or want to support them. This is a separate service from the clinic it is in so make sure to thank the staff or give them a hug for doing what they do on volunteer hours.
Safe and welcoming, Pivot is an exemplary establishment. The staff was extremely professional and confidential, and very non-judgemental. They strive to create a place where G/B/T men can come and get tested, without feeling guilty. Their services are free, though they will gladly accept donations or insurance if youre able. They will not turn people away because they cant afford it.In addition to testing, they also provide resources, prophylactics, and a meeting space for like-minded individuals to hang out and meet new people. Testing is done on a first come, first served basis, so make sure you arrive early.
Had an appointment but waited an additional 30 mins due to only 1-2 staff available at the time and them being backed-up. (totally understandable though, healthcare field is super chaotic & busy with covid going on)Tim was awesome, hes personable and friendly :) plus accommodating with my fear of needles, haha.Overall had a pleasant experience here
Pivot is a great LGBTQ resource for our community. Welcoming and friendly staff offer a nonjudgmental ear and the testing is confidential and done in a caring manner.
Safe place for gay friends and family to meet and hang out for free ... nice and confy couch and lots of books and mags and computers ...
Pivot saved my life, and for that I am eternally grateful.
Great staff, super clean facility!!
