AMAZING! Went to urgent care because I couldnt find my IUD strings and was told Id have to go to ER or see an OB. Wasnt able to see OB for almost 2 months and cant afford to go to the ER. Was able to schedule a next day appointment. Waitimg literally 5 minutes before beong seen. Very thorough questions. Provider was able to use an ultrasound to confirm IUD placement and was able to remove it. Soo so thankful! Will definitely be going to PP for all future woman needs.
My appointment was fast and I felt very well cared for. The new facility is fantastic, so clean and spacious! The staff at the Reno health center have provided some of the best care I’ve received in Nevada. Can’t recommend them enough!
If I could give zero stars, I would! I showed up at 10am to my 1015 appointment and at 1015, I let the front desk know I have an appointment for my son at 1130, she says no problem, your next. Then 30 minutes later at 1045, I walk up again and the front desk lady was rude, ignored me and then finally looked at me and I told her, I have to go to another appointment and she said well I can reschedule for you and I told her I didn’t want to reschedule, I was told I was next yet 6 people went in before me, I understand there are 3 different providers, but your telling me two other providers saw at least 3 patients each before she can move to me? I finically got back at 1110 and was told I couldn’t get my birth control shot unless I did a pee test and I told her I couldn’t sit in there and wait to pee, I needed to leave to my sons appointment and she said she would not give me a shot unless I did. Honestly, I looked it up and there are no negative effects even if I was to be pregnant and got birth control. I’m angry that I sat and waited an hour after my appointment to be denied my right to get a shot. My body my choice, but not at planned parenthood! Worst location! And guess what? Got to my sons appointment and he was seen immediately within 5 minutes. Their system at this planned parenthood is awful and they were all rude, no one was nice and no one smiled and I obviously got denied what I came for after a whole hour and 15 minutes of waiting.
My experience with PP is from my youth, I was 13 yrs old many yrs ago now. I was scared, worried, bcuz I hadnt had a period. I was afraid I was PG, & it came true. I had to come to grips with this development in my life, tell my Mom, Dad, & my Boyfriend. I should tell him first. I received alot of suggestions from PP staff at the old Reno location of PP on conversations, not telling me what to do, which i much appreciated. Im 65 now. The moral of my story is if you are confused, need help & dont know what to do go to Planned Parenthood, they will help you. To finish my life story as a 13 yr old I ended up going to California with my parents to obtain an abortion. Not my first request/thought but after weighing the possibilities I choose this, no pressure from PP, my parents. I got it, drove home with my parents & it was over, the physical part, the mental part just beginning. I still sometimes think about this at my age. Planned Parenthood was there for me. To council, direct but not to judge, tell, demand anything from me. Thank you PP.
I was nervous after seeing many poor reviews for this place, but I never experienced anything like what some of those reviews were saying. I felt respected, safe, and informed. Staff was very respectful of my gender identity and pronouns, something i struggle to find in other areas of medical care. Overall felt like I was treated more respectfully on my first visit than i ever felt at any appointment with my last GP of 6 years.
Arrived 20 minutes early for my appointment. Asked to provide a sample at the time of my appointment. They did not collect the correct kind of sample. No water is available in the waiting room (for sample purposes), and none is provided until an HOUR after scheduled appointment time.
What’s the point of having an appointment at 3:15 if they just make you wait an entire hour? Extremely annoying to have someone show up 15 minutes early to an appointment just to make them wait longer.
I was having issues with my hormonal IUD and needed it removed ASAP. I called my primary OB doctor and there was a 3 month long wait list. With planned parenthood, I was able to get in the office in less than two weeks for an appointment.Once I got there, the staff was very warm, welcoming, and pleasant. I felt informed the entire visit and they took their time to listen to my concerns & issues.Excellent care was provided by the assistant and Physician Assistant. I am extremely grateful for how quickly I was seen & how caring the staff was.
Its a very small clinic so they are limited on what services they can do. I have endometriosis & my old OB was so booked constantly that I wasnt getting any help. Did a phone appointment then saw the doctor the next week. The doctor I spoke with on the phone was very thorough & listened to me. The nurse at my actual appointment was very sweet & kind, she made me feel very comfortable through the whole process. I have no issues with shots, but if you do they are so caring about you for the whole thing. Im actually looking forward to my next appointment with them instead of dreading like I was at my old OB. I left confident instead of in tears like before as well.
I made an appointment and took time out of my lunch break just to drive to this address which turns out to be the old location. No one I spoke to before today made any mention of the new location. 8025 South Virginia is the new one, as I found out from a poster on the door when I walked up to the building still bearing Planned Parenthood signage. I wasted gas and time and an appointment slot because they cant give you the courtesy of telling you the correct address.
I would love to say it was al smooth when being seen here however thats not the case. Ive been seen here twice. My first appointment they had me waiting over 2 hours to be seen mean while people were getting pulled back left and right. When I approached the counter they said they SKIPPED my name. An appointment that should of only took 1 hr max turned to 3hrs. Mind you I arrived 15 to 20 mins early. Then today I come in for just a check up I get here 5 mins early 1 other person in the waiting room take 30 mins to bring me back to a room and then another 50 mins to even been seen by a doctor. I hear them in the hall ways telling talking profanity and being VERY LOUD. LET ME SAY I DONT RECOMMEND THEM.
They were able to help me immediately (as a walk-in) even when they were going to close within 30 minutes. I had an emergency with my pharmacy because they had postponed my birth control prescription, which I had to start again THAT weekend. I did have to pay $8, but I’d rather pay with $8 than with 18 years with a kid
I had a phone appointment to get a birth control prescription and the staff that helped me were all so kind. They informed me of symptoms I could have if I developed a blood clot from the birth control (although rare). This stood out to me since no other doctor I’ve been to has taken the time to do this. Highly professional staff and exceptional service.
Actually didnt end up going. First when I called to make an appointment I told them that I needed a breast exam. The woman on the phone insisted that I needed to do a virtual appointment. On the day of that appointment the nurse called telling me that I needed to come in. So I got an appointment a week later. Blizzard time and roads closed. So I canceled it and got told that I had to wait a month. Really? Like a blizzard is my fault and the virtual appointment was as well? And since I havent been there before now they wont call me? Thanks for nothing, I appreciate it!
Really unreliable. Got here on time for a followup appointment at 12pm, and didnt get called in to begin until almost an hour and a half later at 1:15pm. This is especially frustrating because they didnt even talk to us or apologize they just let us sit here for well over an hour wondering if anything is ever gonna happen. I made a point to be on time so that i could be back to work on time from my lunch. The least they could do is call their patients and let them know that there is over an hour wait, or to come in an hour later. Not to mention the incredibly small rooms which dont allow you to bring in a loved one. Overall, very unsatisfied with this location.
I know this place hasn’t had great reviews so I was skeptical to go ( I only went cause my primary care is in Ca and I couldn’t afford it this time around) but I was pleasantly surprised. I went in on Wednesday afternoon and other than there being about an hour wait time even though I made an appointment, I really have nothing bad to say about this place. The lady at the front desk was very polite and answered my questions and the doctor I had was very sweet and helpful as well and very patient with me. I originally went in to get an IUD but ended up going with the Nexplanon arm implant instead. My doctor was very helpful and answered all of my questions and discussed my concerns. I have another appointment on Monday and hopefully it’ll be the same experience. Don’t let the past negative reviews deter you from going here.
My last birth control device (the implant) gave me some pretty grueling side effects. My last doctor spent something like 9 months and 5 appointments ignoring my concerns before finally removing it. About three years later, I decided that Paragard might be worth a try, being non-hormonal and all.Planned Parenthood was able to have me in the day after I called (this particular visit was pre-pandemic). Anna Ellis did the procedure and I cant express how wonderful and respectful she was. She acknowledged and understood my discomfort (because IUDs hurt a lot for some of us), and through every step of the procedure she let me know what my options were. For example, she let me take breaks when the procedure became too painful for me to handle, and she walked me through slow, even breaths. She offered to reschedule my appointment and prescribe a medication that would help make the next attempt less painful for me. She allowed me to make the decision and I opted to power through the procedure that same day. Im extremely happy that I found the perfect birth control option for me, but I also know Ill be met with compassion respect here.
Great and helpful staff, the 5th street location is not in the best area however if you need any transgender services, these are your go to people, they actually care and get you what you need. Telehealth/phone services are also an option too. Note HRT services are starting to backlog due to social media and the increase of transgender people etc.
Extremely glad places like this exist. Thank you to the staff of not just this clinic, but all Planned Parenthood sites for doing what they do to help people make informed decisions about sex, their health, and future. You care for our community and are helping us all live in a better place. You arm us with real information so we can do what is right for us and our own individual situation. Thank you for your efforts to educate and for remaining grounded in compassion, dignity, evidence, and science. Thank you for remembering that health care is about humans, rather than profits. Thank you for providing the choices that have affected my life very positively.
Couldn’t get a hold of my regular doctor and they never returned my call, I ended up walking into their office and told me there that they were resetting their client program. I got an appointment at planned P. For the very next day. So efficient.
I would absolutely recommend against using them. Two days before my appointment that had been scheduled for weeks, they canceled on me and told me they wouldnt be able to see me for another month. If you value your health, go somewhere else. Youll definitely be better taken care of.
Called the center to get a prescription refilled. I’m on hold for 5 minutes when they say I have 24 callers ahead of me. 10 minute mark they tell me 28 callers are now ahead of me. How’s that possible? And how will I ever get my call answered if it’s going to keep adding callers ahead of me as I wait? Not a very good system. AT ALL. But ok. On top of already being in an annoying situation, they’re not making it any easier. Thanks planned parenthood.
There are other pregnancy care options out there and adoption agencies that truly help mothers care for the human life in their wombs.
They do not respect life here, which should be respected from conception to natural death. In fact they do the opposite and disrespect life and make money off it.
They didnt give me a pregnancy test before putting the birth control implant in my arm, instead they put the implant in and sent me home with the order to test myself. But because Im not working it took me three weeks to get pregnancy tests and they all came out positive. When I called to get the implant removed they told me I had to wait two weeks to do that, so I went to the womens health clinic, it turns out when they gave me the birth control arm implant I was already two weeks pregnant, but because they didnt test before putting the implant in my baby now has a heartbeat that is so slow it worries my gynecologist.
Whenever I come to this planned parenthood I get treated very hostilely by the people up front. They seem very disinterested and are very rude. However, the women I get treated by are very very friendly and very supportive and helpful. They need to get new staff up front. They make the whole place seem very cold, which planned parenthood isnt. Planned Parenthoods already have so much against them, they should have friendlier service.
Planned Parenthood and Reno charges over $700 to have an IUD put in and have no insurance whats wrong with these people such highway robberyIf I had insurance I would have went to my Doctor
Closes before posted time on multiple occasions, I called and asked why and the lady said it’s up to the closers. Might as well put a question mark next the the closing sign if you do not want to work. Just saying if I closed my job down before posting time I’d be fired.
Absolute trash they say they take the insurance you have until you get there and everything has a cost they are liars and can not be trusted will never return no ifs ands or buts not in a pinch not ever and took entirely too long for a one word answer
This is the only place that takes my insurance and for the most part the staff, (including the dr), are extremely unprofessional. I came in for contraceptive and was prescribed and told it would be ready in 2 hours. The next day, it wasnt ready and I lost the paper the nurse wrote it on. I called to get instructions again and since Id taken the medicine a couple other times throughout the course of several years, the woman kept saying she didnt understand why I was I calling and kept asking me if I remembered, acting like I should know this. She was condescending and seemed to enjoy herself. Then I learned that the dr wouldnt be in to sign off on it until the next week. There were a couple women who seemed to look out for me and made sure I was taken care of. I do appreciate that. I dont know why its usually like that here. Its petty. I just come in for care. Why would you judge me and treat me so badly? I havent done anything to any of you but ask for help.
Their services are limited. But I recommend for emergency cases, such as pregnancy test, morning pills, STD testing, and advice of where to go. The staff is helpful. They do not perform any kind of surgeries. Drop ins are welcomed.
I had a great experience (as good as OBGYN appointments can go) with this clinic. The staff and nurse practitioner I dealt with were all extremely friendly and very helpful.
I had the worst service. I booked an appointment for today for a pregnancy test. I gave them a urine sample but they didnt even bother getting a blood sample from me or did an ultrasound to check if there was a baby. Yes i understand why they asked a bunch of personal questions. I just find it ridiculous that they dont do a through pregnancy test. I will never go here again
The team here is so absolutely amazing, positive and supportive. Thank you
They do their best to get you in, the providers are kind, and they actually follow up and care about abnormal test results. If it was not for PPMM, I would have bursting, extremely painful cysts, and no care. Thank you Planned Parenthood!!
What is of a great concern to me is that there are no physicians there. Those performing the terminations are nurses. Furthermore, should something go terribly wrong, they can only call 911 because only Drs have admitting privileges to hospitals.
Kate Chatelain, FNP is absolutely amazing. She is truly an advocate for women and passionate about getting every patient the care they need and deserve. She listens and goes above and beyond to help her patients. After being shamed by my OBGYN for asking for an Rx for Plan B (I was unaware my OBGYN office had religious affiliations that do not believe in emergency contraception) Kate was kind, empathetic and helped me immediately.
The staff was very friendly and gave me exactly what I needed. They kept my visit as discreet as possible and made me feel very comfortable. They didn’t call back when they said they would but other than I was very happy with my visit and will go again if need be.
I searched for birthing center near me and PP came up in top 10 results. This is not a birthing center its an anti birthing center, ie the end. Please delete this entry and list correctly under abortion center.
Had no idea reno had a PP figured it was too behind the times to have one. Wish I gave the place a call because all other options/help in the city were a joke. And I called many, many, many places.
Just have a questions!!! I’m pregnant and just found out I won’t have insurance till February, do you guys do ultrasounds having no insurance?
Very friendly staff, clean office and restrooms. I think they deserve a new building with more spacious rooms for families, aside from that I give this place 5 stars.
Went here to get tested and they charged me 65.00 ....its been 2 weeks now and Ive been calling numerous times, Im magically not in the system and other times they tell me to call a place thats holds the test results even though they did the results they cant tell me or mail me a single thing and the place they tell me to call is always closed this place is a government funded money maker screw this place
The staff here is incredibly friendly and super helpful. they made me feel very comfortable and welcome.
Staff was very friendly, and efficient; only knocked a star because they dont offer prescriptions for bicalutamide.
The staff are friendly and very helpful. Great conversation with the doc each time I see her.
Friendly staff. Great clinic. Glad to have one in Reno.
Almost a 2 hour wait with a scheduled appointment and all I got was talked to for birth control for 15 minutes
Its not a great business.. I mean Ive been going through them for birth control & paps but service is horrible!
Limited services, but if your scared and at step one this place will help they did their job
Very kind people, and it was easy to get in and get out
Thank you for providing healthcare and education for those who cant afford a for-profit provider!
I went to get an STD test and never received my results.
