Very friendly and dedicated staff from receptionist to Doc!!! Friendly, knowledgeable professional and explains everything in terms you can understand. Clean and tidy in all aspects. I was in and out in a timely manner. Thank You all for Your hard work and dedication… and from all of us sick people who do appreciate You… stay well and take care!!! ❤️
My 5 year old scratched his eye and the staff was very friendly and supportive. They worked with us to view his eye, which was not an easy task, because my son IS 5, tall and hes very strong for his age. They still tried and explained every step to us before we did it. The NP almost went into a wall from one of the attempts and she was very professional about it. When were not able to see it after several attempts, they educated us on the potential risks if his eye was not visualized and gave us available facilities who specialized in children. Theyre a great example of what medicine should look like. Thank you so much your help.
Dr. Brown was super fast, sweet, and was kicking butt even though he was the only provider in that day. I hope he has a good time at Comic Con!The person at the front desk was great at handling all of the grumpy patients 😅 (I didnt get her name!) and making sure everyone was accommodated and comfortable in the lobby through the long wait. The person who initially took me back to a room to be assessed was super personable and nice too.I hope I dont have to go back too soon but I will definitely be going back when I need to!The only negative thing I can say was that the wait time was about 2.5 hours but that seemed about average for the urgent cares in the local area. Otherwise the office was just fine and there are several nearby stores and restaurants to grab snacks/drinks if you need during your wait!
The front desk young lady was very friendly and welcoming. She had a beautiful smile and was very helpful and kind. I dont remember her name, but she blonde with glasses. Great customer service. ✨The nurse that took care of me gave direct eye contact. Shows she was interested in my answers. Very gently spirit.
Horrible staff.. i didn’t want to go to an emergency but was not feeling well at all and they made me wait hours and the two young immature girls were laughing and being so loud like it was an amusement park .. like an urgent care is a clinic hence kinda like a hospital so keep it quiet … seriously worse afc urgent care ever ! don’t come here especially out those two young staff members are working and they took my blood and urine samples for test and it’s been 2 weeks and still no update !! like what is wrong with this place so unprofessional i do not recommend. The doctor was nice however just they need to switch staff out
My ‘walk in’ appointment which I was told I couldn’t make an appointment ahead of time for was originally supposed to be a 45 minute wait. waited 2.5 hours total just to get a simple prescription filled. took my vitals and put me in a room for almost an hour!!! the actual appointment took under 5 minutes. staff was nice but they’re clearly understaffed when it comes to providers. I kept seeing people walk in from breaks as the waiting room was filling up with people waiting too long. rather than say 45 mins let people know how long they’ll actually waiting to be seen. do not come around lunch time on weekdays!!!!
These guys are lost at Clairemont branch. Our appointment was at 1 pm and they were so slow and no staff. It took them 1 hour to find nerves for blood test. I gave them 0 in the survey and they said someone is going to contact me, again lost. $399 for a physical exam and what they did was only blood test.I called them for a result and again LOST AS HELL....No one has contacted me so far and they never will....
I never go to urgent care, I always just try to stick it out, but I had to go to urgent care last week. I was very impressed with the staff at this very busy urgent care Nicole was very professional, helpful and welcoming despite having unhappy, impatient sick people, screaming children in the waiting room, phones ringing. The staff promptly called me with test results, when the medication i was prescribed was making me sick, they kindly changed it for me. I was very impressed by the staff and very impressed by the service at AFC urgent care
I was the 2nd person in line before the office opened and I waited 1 hour and 30 minutes to be seen once the office opened. This is my second time here this week because the first doctor under-treated me. I was sitting at home waiting to get better for days when I did not have the proper medication. Lots of pain and lost income due to this mistake by the provider. It also takes more than 15 minutes once your appointment is over to be given your discharge paperwork.
I love using AFC urgent care. They are always efficient and hospitable and attentive.I went to the mission valley location and it was an hour wait so they looked up a room with a shorter wait and I got in right away. That was really appreciate because I was severely uncomfortable, and just wanted to get home. The staff at the Clairmont location was just as efficient. I usually go to the Point Loma location so it was nice to see all locations operating under the same standards. Thanks for everything!
The front desk gal was exceptional! Wait was not to bad. I wish that the Dr and Medical Assistant had introduced themselves which is usually standard protocol in healthcare. I did not know I was seeing a Nurse Practioner and not a physician. NP Brown is however a very good provider and very good listener.
My daughter needed urgent attention for her wounded hand and they were there for us. We were quickly attended to and quickly given back results after x rays. I greatly appreciate everyone at this medical office. Thank you all and stay blessed!
PB Marque Urgent Care is the best! They even follow up to see how you’re doing, make it easy to schedule a follow up visit if necessary, and are responsive to my needs and communications. Hands-down the best experience I’ve ever had with an urgent care.
The most efficient and pleasant Urgent Care experience I’ve ever had. Highly recommend! Receptionist was so helpful & kind, physician was thorough and quick, also helpful and kind. In and out in less than an hour! Would return back.
Best experience I could have asked for on a day like today. Chronic migraine sufferer. Meds ran out. Came in with very little wait. Nicole checked me in and was very accommodating. Was given meds and walked out feeling 1000x better. Thank you to the whole team!
Zara was completely unprofessional We arrived to treat my grandma who was visiting and having a serious persistent cough. We assumed her insurance wouldnt apply as it is from another state but we urgently needed to see someone. Zara gave us our insurance/ID back saying they wouldnt accept it. I said thats fine and sat back down. We waited for over an hour as people who came after we arrived were tended to. I asked Zara for our ETA, and she said Oh well since your insurance wasnt accepted, we removed you from the list as you would have to pay upfront for the consult. I said Why didnt you say that when you gave us our ID/insurance back instead of having us wait for over an hour? She responded derisively, I thought you were just waiting for a ride. Im assuming due to subconscious racial motivations because later when I paid for the consult she said there might be more if the provider requests tests insinuating that we wouldnt be able to afford it. Treat people better Zara, especially those who are sick and in need.Had I not gone up and asked for our ETA, she would have had us sit there until they closed.
I walked in and wrote on paper that I am Deaf. The receptionist was very open to communicating with me by writing notes. The person Zarah, who took my vitals, was really nice and gentle. Writing down on paper as well. Dr. Breisch was understanding when I asked him to talk to my phone for SPEECH to TEXT. He spoke slowly carefully to my phone, and it translated just fine. He asked questions and waited patiently while I jotted down my answers.I appreciate their patience and kindness. I was in and out in an hour. Highly recommended.
I’ve never had an issue with this place and have been here before, but their front office staff has really turned around. I was pretty adamant about having my insurance checked multiple times to make sure all services were covered during my visit. I had 3 different people tell me my insurance was going to completely cover everything except my office visit copay that day. 1 month later I get hit with a bill. I walked in and all they can tell me is, “ I’m sorry that your insurance doesn’t cover everything and that sucks.” I don’t mind my insurance not covering everything, that’s not the problem here, and I’m not mad I have to pay for services, but the fact that I asked multiple people the day of service and was told everything is going to be completely covered is just wrong on their part. That’s just bad service.
We took our 2 year old here while on vacation after having a 102 fever and inconsolable crying. They tested her for flu and Covid but wouldn’t test her for strep because the Dr. said he was sure she didn’t have it. He wouldn’t even look at her throat because he didn’t want to “force” her to open her mouth. After our entire vacation spent with a crying uncomfortable toddler we took her to a different urgent care after she developed a rash and it turned out she did in fact have strep. So frustrated that our poor baby had to suffer through a week of pain thanks to the dr’s negligence. Do not go here!
They say they close at 8 but really close ar 730. I got her before and shopped because they said it was an hour and a half wait which would’ve been 8:30. I highly recommended marquee urgent care. They actually care about there patients and are punctual.
Yesterday was my first time using their services. From the moment I entered until I left I felt right at home. Great staff I highly recommend AFC Urgent care on Balboa. Thank you all so much.Mark
Unexpected awesome experience here. I went to the ER first and they couldn’t figure out the problem.Week later I was still sick and needed antibiotics. The nurse practitioner did a thorough exam, suggested proper testing, and got me started on antibiotics. Now I feel way better. The whole experience was pleasant, the wait was minimal (probably 20 minutes), and everyone was kind and friendly. Plus my medi-cal covered it fully. 100% recommend.
I appreciate the tender loving care of this facility. The doctor was patient and explained things in detail. I actually told him thank you for treating me with this type of respect and patience!!! Thank you so very much!!
Do not come here first they made us wait 1 hour before doing our physical and when we were taking the blood test they couldn’t find our veins the blood testing took 2 hours for 5 people they also charged us 400 dollars PER PERSON when all they did was a blood test plus testing our blood pressure and things like that I do not recommend this place they also still charged us even though they couldn’t find some of my family members veins it cost overall 2000 dollars for a blood test I could have got it for free this place is a SCAM
Never, I say never visit. Waited for way to long for a sinple blood draw (preferred partner for a 3rd party). After way too long for what should have been 30 minutes at most I was finally taken to have the draw. I poked and didnt get blood. Ok, jt happens. But then, the needle was moved around trying to fix the missed vein. That caused a painful blister for days, and my arm to be sensitive to use. That should have never happened. 100s of draws and NEVER this.Second attemp, finally gets blood.I was just gonna leave it at that, done and over with, never gonna go to them again.But....Now, to cap it off. Samples rejected as not properly shipped .... and the best part. I have to do it again. They cant even do routine work ok, how could they handle anything important. Dont trust your health to these bozos.I am lucky I dont seem to have a staph infection. I just hope I didnt get some other sickness. Guess I will find out over the next few weeks.NEVER, NEVER, NEVER go to this place!!!
I dropped a 200 lb entertainment center on my middle finger. Went to AFC on Balboa Ave. They open at 800am. I was there at 840am. Was greeted by Martha at the front desk. Yasmine took my vitals and made me feel comfortable there. Rafa did the xrays and explained the process to me. He was very professional. NP Brown gave me the consultation on my diagnosis. Result is broken middle finger. Needs to stay in a brace for 2 weeks. Great experience. Will definitely refer them to my friends and family. Awesome team and thank you for the medical attention and professionalism.
I live like a block away from here and twice now I’ve made the mistake of thinking it would make more sense to go here then drive 10 minutes to literally anywhere else.First time I came here the doctor turned me away because my asthma was too bad. Instead of trying to do anything to relieve any of my symptoms when my o2 levels were at 90 he refused service, said he wasn’t comfortable and told me to go to an ER. I ended up going to a different urgent care and they gave me a shot of solumedrol and sent me home with prednisone and I was feeling better within minutes. Now I’m writing this review as I’ve been sitting in the waiting room for over 2 hours. They keep telling me im next but things keep coming up. Now they’re all on lunch and instead of telling me when I asked 30 minutes ago because I over heard another patient say the doctor told him that they told me I’d be called in 15 minutes. Iris been another 30 minutes since then. I understand things happen..but honesty isn’t hard. We have lives as well.UPDATE:Third time I’ve tried coming here and regret it again! I show up at 5:30 and told there already closed and not taking patients anymore. This place needs to get there stuff together
I brought my Stepmom for an exam after she fell . Dr. Listened to her and after examining her suggested the next step of care- CT if the area to make sure that there is no damage inside.
Was able to get expedite help from urgent care doctors and staff with total satisfaction within the hour. Choose urgent care point loma/ Clairmont
Staff and NP Charles Brown are very nice and accommodating. I dont fancy being sick but if in case, I prefer to go here. I dont mind the drive.
I’m writing on behalf of a family member who went in to see someone about an infection they’ve had before and NP Charlie Brown treated them like they didn’t know their body or as if they’ve never had the issue before. To my knowledge my family member didn’t even know his name (no introduction) until they were given discharge papers. Even if you have an opposing professional opinion, do a better job of listening and empathizing. On top of that he still wrote the script.
This is my 3rd time back here in the last week. I came to get a covid test twice. I left the first time after getting frustrated with their insane wait times to do a simple covid test. I came back a second time and decided to wait for over 3hrs even though I was quoted 2 hrs because my throat was hurting really bad and I was afraid of getting my kids sick. Now Im back a 3rd time to get my son tested so he can return to school. Yet again insane 2.5 hr wait time but even worse than the wait times are the attitudes of the front office staff. They have been completely rude and short every single visit! These are the people that set the tone for your entire visit and they act like you are bothering them to be a patient at their office. I think they forget that the patients/clients are the reason that they have employment. People come here sick or in need and dont need to be meet with someone elses bad attitude in their time of need. They definitely need to be retrained in customer service because its extremely lacking at this office from the front office staff. Especially when you see them being so nice and cordial to other office staff. Why dont the customers get that type of treatment?! The minute you get to the back the staff is much more friendly and caring. Too bad you have to make contact with the front office staff first!! I should mention that this is my go to urgent care facility and Im now thinking about going elsewhere from now on. 2 stars is because Ive had good experiences with the doctors and staff in the back.UPDATE:Im updating my review to 1 star because Im in here yet again but right at opening this time and there is a there is a 2-3 hr wait yet again!! I asked how many doctors that they have on and the answer was 1!! Youd think with long wait times that they would staff more than one Dr but no theyd rather have sick people and covid positive people waiting in a small waiting room for hours at a time. Terrible business mgmt. When asked about the short staffing I was met with.. sorry I just work here. Such a bad response to frustrated clients. I remember when this place had reasonable wait times and competent staff. Guess that is not the case anymore!! This will be the last time I come here after being a LONG TIME client!
I walked in here on a Sunday night during a holiday weekend when most other urgent care centers were closed. Id sliced my finger in the kitchen and needed a few stitches.I waited about an hour before my vitals were taken and then I had to wait a while once I was in a room. I think this is just how it goes with urgent care centers. If I was actively bleeding, I probably wouldve gone to the ER instead.Im giving them five stars because the employees were all wonderful. Zarah took my vitals and NP Love did my stitches. They were both reassuring and calming. The guy that cleaned my wound and helped wrap it up at the end was also nice and made sure to check in on me, offered me water, etc... I hope I dont have to go to urgent care again soon, but if I do Ill absolutely come back here.
This review is on behalf of another patient who was in at the same time as myself who identified as Sally (names changed to protect identity). Sally obviously requested to be called Sally even though their government identification provided for a different name and gender. A male urgent care tech with long black hair in the office came out of the patient room and began to loudly berate the patient on how there are only two genders and the tech was only going to call Sally by her proper name and was not going to fight her about it. Sally can “is 6’4 220 pounds and can tackle me, she’s not a woman”. If I could hear it in my patient room, she definitely could too. No patient should ever be harassed in this matter period. But certainly not when receiving medical care they need. I was horrified by the techs behavior and complete lack of respect for the people around them. If this tech can’t treat their patience with respect, they should work in a different field.
The staff here was extremely rude. The MA didn’t know how to spell basic medical terms, didn’t listen to a thing he was told, decided to annotate a different diagnosis into their system than I told them because he couldn’t spell “cellulitis” or “Ulcerative colitis”The NP (there is no Doctor here) had no idea what we were in the exam room for, he was very condescending and sarcastic. This experience was a waste of money and time, this entire place is the epitome of terrible medical care.Do not come here if you have an urgent medical matter. They do not care and will send you out the door very quickly.
Plenty of parking. Reception was good. Facilities were clean and comfortable. Check in was friendly. My Doctor was busy and professional. Pharmacy was two doors to the right.
Everyone from the front desk to the nurses to the doctors seem extremely knowledgeable and very very friendly. They were awesome.
Long wait, but worth every minute!Great service and compassionate, expert care. Conveniently located, lots of parking and clean. Dr. Pegah Eshraghi is amazing as well!Great experience.
Bryan was truly amazing! He took such great care of my daughter. He could have sent us to the ER but rather he took the time to do whatever it took to address her issue. She will probably have a finger nail one day because of his care and skill. Thank you Bryan and AFC.
5 stars compared to the terrible care I got at the actual doctors office! They got me in in a timely manner and were very helpful and able to actually give me the tests, treatment, and care I needed! This will definitely be my go-to Urgent Care from here on out! Thank you AFC!
The staff is great - professional, personal & patient. Charles was excellent with explaining his assessment of my foot. I did not feel rushed when I was with him. The facility/waiting room is a clean & calm environment.
Providers on 2/11 were truly exceptional. Would return/recommend for urgent care needs. Very kind and supportive when I brought my family member in
Came to afc urgent care on Sunday with a cough and complaining that something was going on with my ears and I could not hear very well cause my ears were blocked. The doctor checked my ears and said everything looked fine. Fast forward two days later and my ears are in EXTREME pain so I went to a different urgent care. The doctor took one look in my ears and said he couldn’t even see my eardrums because I had so much wax built up. Once he cleaned them out he took a look and said my eardrum is on the verge of rupturing because it is so irritated and swollen. I told him that the doctor at afc urgent care checked my ears and said everything looked absolutely fine and he was in disbelief because he said there is no one they could have even seen my eardrums! Glad I got a second opinion and it did not rupture but I am so sick of incompetent doctors who don’t take the time to do their jobs!!!!
I spoke with a front desk associate, by the name of Rafael, who is very rude and disrespectful. Who apparently could give me my Covid results but the lady in the evening (i can not remember her name) could not, unless it was provided by a physician….this establishment is way different from a year ago they need need a new front desk crew and better attitudes beyond disappointed……also i had to wait for 3 1/2 hours when i visited will be visiting the mission valley location moving forward!!BRIAN IS AMAZING THROUGH ALL THIS BULL
Front staff was kind and helpful.Assistant who checked my vitals was very sweet and accommodative of my needs and also attentive.Provider was great. Answered my questions and even answered additional questions.I was helped with additional notes for work.
The wait was not to bad about 40 mins. My first provider had trouble drawing blood the couple times she was trying but she was very friendly and she tried her best, So she got another provider to assist with drawing my blood. New one came in and mentioned she’s good at what she does and not to worry and yup she is amazing! Like that she was able to get my blood drawn and I didn’t have to work about coming back to try again. I wish I got her name though for future visits. If your reading this you rock! The staff was very informative and kept up with communication. Thank you ladies for all your hard work it don’t go unnoticed! :).
This is the worst Urgent Care I know of. The staff is so rude it almost seems like theyre playing joke on you. Ive been here twice and both times I was there for three to four hours (despite arriving 30 minutes after they open and only a couple people in the waiting room). The doctor (nurse practitioner) made me super uncomfortable because he talked to me in an extremely condescending tone when I told him my symptoms. I feel like this is really poor practice, because I was so uncomfortable I forgot to tell him one of my symptoms. They completely forgot I was waiting for my results in the room, and left me there for two hours. When I asked what was going on they said I was good to go. Nobody even came in and told me what the results were???? They never explained anything about my sickness to me, just kicked me out on the curb because they were unsure. I found out later that they had sent out a prescription for me, but the doctor had never even mentioned he was doing that, and didnt explain what it was for at all. Please dont go to this place, you will leave sicker than when you got there.
10/10. Excellent service. Thank you. Great professionalism, very professional staff, great ambiance, no delay in getting the services needed.
I had terrible service from Dr. Stu. Came in with hair falling off my body, and Stu said it was normal and not urgent. So I went to my primary care and it turned out I had a kidney problem! Dr. Stu is a terrible doctor who is so ineffective at diagnosing patients he misdiagnoses common problems as nothing at all. I would recommend getting a second opinion if you are checked out by one Dr. Stu! I do not believe he is a real doctor but rather a physicians assistant who masquerades as a doctor. A terrible human, pathological liar, and worse doctor! Its possible his intense old age may have caused the misdiagnosis, but that is no reason to have such unpleasant, unprofessional, and RUDE bedside manners. The vagrants at the beach could give more effective medical advice than Dr. Stu! They would be more compassionate and intelligent as well. Thus, I recommend seeing the vagrants at Mission over one Dr. Stu!
AFC Urgent Care is a place I always go to. They are a friendly and helpful staff while being knowledgeable and professional. It’s always clean and the location is convenient with a pharmacy right next door where they fax over your prescription for you so you do not wait as long. I give it a 10+!
Really unimpressed with the lack of professionalism here. I came in for an X-ray where the doc saw something of concern and sent off to a radiologist. He said they’d give me a call in 2-3 business days. I followed up 3 times only to never get a call back and even 2 months later, I have not received a returned phone call or my results. Yet, I get a bill in the mail today. What a joke. I understand the industry is understaffed and truly am appreciative to our medical professionals, but this is unacceptable and you just need to do better.
I waited 3 hours for service. They told me they would text me when it was my turn and I had 10 mins to get back to check in. My daughter was sick and she wanted to wait in the car so I said perfect text us and we will be right back. I get a text that they were ready and we were excited to get looked at but we waited another hour in the waiting room. Not sure why we got a text to come back. Then we get moved to a room and waited another hour. I peeked out and asked the wait time and the service provider looked at me and said I was the next patient. Then she proceeds to say she is the only service provider and I can come back tomorrow if I don’t want to wait. I told her that was a ridiculous response as we have already waited 3 hours with a sick child. So unprofessional. Not happy and will not be coming back unfortunately.
We came in a few minutes before 8pm, after work, the staff got us in to see the doctor within minutes. The doctor was knowledgable, helpful, friendly and took care of an infection that had been getting worse over a three week period and needed urgent medical attention. Great job
The staff are amazing, the caretaker upfront was absolutely awesome. The doctor with the green scrubs, was really helpful and professional.
Absolutely horrible location will not be returning! customer service horrible! communication horrible!! how are they still operating…. Rafael is beyond disrespectful and the facility as a whole!!!! physician Eshraghi.p was respectful and helpful, but never relayed any messages that I needed her to…….it was a whole lot better between the years 2013-15….need new staff
Waited for nearly 3 hours to get my name called in and waited more when they put me back in the room. This place needs to do a better job communicating with patients at least the estimate wait time for the expectation and if patient should go different places with shorter wait time. They kept telling me “you are next” while other people got called. I understand this is urgent care but you came in feeling not good and gotta wait that long, you probably ended up feeling back OK before you got seen.Staffs were friendly on somedays and some other days there are some unfriendly staffs (not my first time coming here, I choose to come because this place is closet to my home). Place is clean.
Front desk attendant was kind and helpful in getting us seen as a last minute walk in.
Very easy and straightforward to get the care you need, staff are all friendly and patient
This is the best urgent care. It’s clean, the staff is nice and respectful. The providers are helpful and kind. Wait times are to be expected but not that bad.
Thank you for being so friendly and kind, especially since I was having anxiety because I dont like going to the doctor!! The doctor herself was very good. She explained things well and answered all of my questions. I felt like I was treated well and felt good about my visit.
Recently went here with a respiratory infection, couldnt speak at all for days. i was seen by Dr Charles Brown he told me he would give me a note for work but the reception didnt include that in all the paperwork they gave me when I left. they called me 4 days later with test results so I asked about the work note and the woman who called me told me very rudely theres nothing they can do and I shouldve called them the same day. which I told her I didnt have a voice how could I call if I cant speak and she said theres nothing she could do and theres no one else i can speak to. i know thats a straight up lie. theres always a supervisor. that is awful service for patients. its the providers job to make sure we have what we need when we leave. also, not hard to type up a new note with the dates on it its not like Im asking for a new diagnosis. this is bare minimum logic here.
All the staff was super awesome. They all took care of me very well. Thank you all for your outstanding service.
My experience was great from the minute I entered the office. They Office is clean and the staff is very pleasant and easy to work with. They doctor was also very pleasant and nice. I did have to wait a bit but that is to be expected when they are working on a walk in environment. I think they handle the situation very well. When the doctor explains what is going on it is easy to understand and I felt very comfortable about my visit and the prognosis. I would definitely return to this location if necessary in the future. Thank you to the Doctor and Staff.
Very kind and took great care of my daughter. The staff all had a great attitude and our care provider did a great job answering her questions and making her feel comfortable during the examination.
Horrible experience that left me in tears. I had to call for my results not one, but three times. I was given incorrect information over the phone which led to a delay in taking medication, I was condescended by the staff, and I only received the correct information because I advocated for myself and didnt listen to their dismissal of me. They acted as though I was irritating them for trying to get to the bottom of the incorrect health results they were providing me. It was extremely unprofessional and rude, and I would rather pay out of pocket somewhere than ever step foot in this place again.
Ive been a few times since they opened for myself and my daughter. Everyone has always been extremely nice. The wait times have not been bad for an urgent care. And most of all, the Dr. Ive seen twice now is so kind and patient. He takes more time to listen to my issues and explain his recommendations than even my primary care doctor does. Even when I was there until after closing, they could have been rushing people out, but he was still so kind and thorough. All great experiences.
The customer service at this place is horrible. I waited twenty minutes yesterday to get my copy of my X-rays only to be told the guy is at lunch and no one else can help me. Finally they told me to come back tomorrow which I did. But, my X-rays are still not ready and the guy wasn’t in yet. They were extremely rude to me where another patient stepped in to tell them to stop. Now I have to go back a third time. My arm is in a sling and driving is hard. The staff really needs to learn how to deal with people. The only good thing about my visit was the doctor. He was great.
The doctor was fantastic. I had the appropriate insurance and never noticed anything. The staff was friendly and accommodating during a difficult time.If I have an illness that my gp cant see, Ill be coming back here.
The Front desk staff was courteous and professional, but the doctor was lazy and condescending as hell. He acted like a waiter put upon in the final minutes before closing. It was surreal. Not even an effort to explain what needs to happen next. Only that he wasnt gonna try it. Also no attempt to hide the fact he seemed to think I was stupid. That was a nice touch on an already embarrassing situation not of my making.
I usually have a great experience here, Ive seen 2 female doctors and one young male doctor, they were great. BUT I recommend CALLING and making sure the doctor on Staff is NOT Dr. Stuart Briech if you want an xray. He may be a well respected Doctor, and I dont want to deny him that. There is the risk, however, that he will let you down for an xray. I had to make the choice to not waste my time, and sit for hrs in the lobby if I there was a slight chance I would not get an xray. Ive been in neck and back pain for 2 weeks and tried to go in on labor day but it was closed , not from the holiday, but a staffing issue. The front desk attendant was great and went back to ask him a question and I saw him stubbornly shake his head no. So I made the choice to leave. I wasnt there for medications, just wanted an xray and I was very respectful with explaining that, I tried with my primary and I wont be able to see her will October to have her order it, since Im not experiencing anything life threatening, and to minimize wait times to at least 3 hrs vs a 7hr ER room visit, I came here. I think sometimes doctors sometimes gloss over people who come in for pain , thinking they are there for narcotics or something and they find classic ways to turn you down legally by saying stuff like they dont want risk unnecessary radiation exposure. So at this point in time , Im still struggling, trying to care for 2 young kids. I have a history of arthritis, vertigo, severe migraines, and neuropathy I take gabapentin for pain. Im in between seeing specialists and was trying to get help in between seeing them. AFC should not advertise walk ins and X-rays if they are stubborn about giving them. Dont advertise to be a better alternative to ERs if you support dismissive attitude. Attitudes wont kill a patient, but it still does harm.
The facility is bright, inviting and clean. The paper was not overwhelming as with so many health facilities. The wait was not that long. The medical technician did a good job of going over my medical history and taking my vital. The doctor had a great personality, which made going to an urgent care facility enjoyable. He listened to my health story, told me what he was going to order from the pharmacy, checked with me to make sure I understood and off we went.
This is the worst urgent care ever, do not come here! My mom came here w/ lower back pain and was given a paper prescription by Dr. Julia Keeler to pick up her meds at her local pharmacy. She has been having issues picking up her meds since she was provided a paper prescription. We tried over 4 pharmacy and all told us the same thing “we no longer take paper prescription and that is the new law as of 1/1/2023 and request for AFC to send it over electronically. We called AFC and informed them. Instead of offering to call our local pharmacy to help resolve this issue of theirs or even have it sent over electronically to our pharmacy, they told us to go to ER and get rediagnose again and request for medications there. What is the whole point of my mom seeing someone at AFC urgent care??? and then getting prescribed a med that she was not able to receive. On top of that, my mom came in on Fri and clairemont loc was closed over the weekend. Doctor at Santee loc told us to call clairemont loc on Mon and that they will be able to get her the meds. My mom wasted 2 extra days and was now was told to go to ER. She could have gone to the ER over the weekend! Worst customer service ever and waste of time! I would have given them no star if I could. Don’t come here.
Came to urgent care today and was seen about 30 minutes after checking in, which is way less than I was expecting! Really friendly staff, especially Yasmine. Everything went pretty fast and Im definitely coming back here the next time I’m not feeling well.
This was the best experience Ive ever had in a clinic. I normally avoid going to the clinic because people working there seem like they are having a bad day all the time. But not in this place, it was my first time here getting X-rays and the staff was soo very kind!! They explained everything I needed to know. The staff was super helpful and friendly that I rolled out forgetting I had so much pain. Lastly the service was super fast I was beyond impressed!!!...Keep in mind I did go early morning...
Hands down, the BEST urgent care around! My job required me to get tested twice a week during the pandemic. Overtime it felt like a community I was coming back to. Yasmine was great when it came to making me comfortable and assessing my needs. Kayla remained professional at the front desk and ever so kind. Then Josh would pop in to administer medical advice and send me on my way. Such a great group of folks at this location.Highly recommended!Thank you all!
Not a bad experience at all!! I visit this urgent care for chronic UTIs, ear aches, and other minor maladies. My wait has never been more than an hour at the most. Everyone is very professional once you get past the front desk. The young man there seems to not have any customer service at all. Oh, well...hes young.ha The back staff and doctor were wonderful. Received a script and was able to pick it up within 20 minutes at the pharmacy next door. I will continue to use this facility, as making an appointment with my GP is a hassle!! Thank you, AFC!!
This was my first and last time using this clinics service AFC Urgent Care in Clairemont. Its April 2023, CDC, State of California, and government websites specifically report that masks are no longer mandated, and all hospitals across California no longer require masks. But this clinic is mandating the use of and refusing care to patients who choose not to wear a mask. I crossed the street and for the same consultation price I got quick service without the mandatory use of a mask.
My husband was seen today with an acute upper respiratory infection all the staff from the front desk to the triage nurse to the nurse practitioner to the nurse who took his flu and Covid. Samples are professional, courteous, and very helpful. I would highly recommend this place.
Aside from the 2 hour wait time due to flu season, the staff was friendly and professional. I felt very comfortable there and it was definitely worth the wait. Urgent care facilities can be hit or miss but I will happily endure a longer wait time for the peace of mind that Im receiving quality care.
I had to visit due to a migraine that wouldn’t go away with my regular medicine. All the staff was exceptionally kind and attentive, from the front desk, to the nurse, to the doctor. They turned the lights off without me asking, and did their absolute best to keep me as comfortable as possible. The facility was clean and professional as well. No one ever likes having to go to urgent care, but I honestly can’t recommend this facility enough. I was also in and out in a hour, which was a pleasant surprise.
Went to this Urgent Care since it was close by... couldnt have had a more pleasant staff - when youre already feeling crummy, this makes an enormous difference. The doctor, Josh, gave me very specific instructions, called in my prescription to the pharmacy of my choice & I was good to go!! Fairly quick visit, but, I never felt rushed; was able to give some history, AND, the issue was properly diagnosed - much much better within 12 hours : )
Ronda, back office staff, gave my daughter exceptional care on her visit Tues. March 28. She recognized the urgency of her condition and provided top notch care, concern and professionalism. We greatly appreciate her and AFC of Clairemont. Thank you Ronda!
Best Urgent Care Ive ever been to. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Although there was a bit of a wait because it was crowded, they kept me informed on how long it would be. Once I was seen by the doctor, she was awesome. She really listened to me and helped diagnose me and get my the right medication. Would definitely recommend this Urgent Care to anyone who is sick and cant get in with a doctor right away!
I don’t like leaving negative reviews but when it comes to health services I believe it’s important to know what to expect. My daughter had a soar eye for 24 hours. I came to this clinic expecting to have her eye flushed, die added and black light to see if there was any damage. This clinic doesn’t have some very basic equipment and other than looking at her eye couldn’t do anything. Furthermore the Dr present appeared to make up for lack of competence and equipment with a very friendly (overly) bed side manner. When I need medical assistance I expect competence and professionalism. Bed side manners aren’t a must and I’ve seen another doctor in the past act this way. In the end we were told she had pink eye and given a prescription for drops. The next day she was still in pain we went to Orange Children Hospital where immediately they found a large grain of sand under her cornea. A simple procedure later (that could have been done in a decent clinic) and all is well. Unless your looking to talk to a dr about something that requires no equipment (or very limited experience) I would avoid this place. Don’t need a friend when you need a Dr.
I don’t currently have a primary care giver so when I need to see a doctor I come to AFC urgent care and am beyond happy every time they treat me. I never have to wait long at all to be seen and the staff is friendly and helpful. The medical professionals all seem to really listen to their patients and make sure they get what they need. They always check to see if I need a note for work (when it is needed of course, not just for a common cold). And I receive a call or a text within 48 hours of leaving the facility to check in on how I am doing and make sure I don’t need anything else.Literally the best urgent care I’ve ever been to!
I had to wait awhile, but that’s to be expected at an urgent care. Once I was seen they were thorough in the questions they asked me and took my concerns and symptoms seriously which is a big deal to me and I was glad to be heard and treated.
BEST URGENT CARE Experience by far!I have been to a few places like this and have sadly been very disappointed, to put it as kindly as possible. Not so this one. Extremely Nice and Kind people, - All. And they all knew what they were doing. The office is also clean and run efficiently --- with no waiting forever.(You can even sit in your car (great parking) and they will call you on the phone when its your turn.) This is what healthcare is supposed to be all about.Definitely choosing this place if I need to visit another Urgent Care clinic!
I could not possibly recommend this facility more! Everyone was so sweet and helpful from the moment I called to check if they accepted my insurance until the moment I left. They were so kind and thorough, talked to me like a normal person, and were just overall so amazing. Not sure if I just went at a perfect time but the wait was so short too. 10/10 highly recommend them for any of your urgent care needs.
Arrived on Holiday and was seen for knee injury, lots of pain, left few hours later with instructions for brace, crutches and prescription! Great Service from all!
I’ve now visited this urgent care facility twice in the last two weeks and am definitely leaving a glowing review. The paperwork and check-in process is fairly simple and straightforward. Your copay is taken before you are seen and they are careful to give you an accurate estimate if for some reason they aren’t able to verify your insurance online and you may have to cover the whole thing at a later date. The best part of this place is Josh. He’s the PA I’ve seen twice now and both times I’ve shown up with things I’ve never heard of, but he named them without missing a beat AND spent time explaining to me what was going on, how to treat it, what to expect as I healed, and answered all of my questions without making me feel rushed or ridiculous for asking him to show me things like how to properly wrap a swollen ankle. Seriously, folks, if I could make him my PCP, I would in a minute. Thank you, AFC Balboa, for making both visits a great example of how health care should be.Oh, and there is a CVS right next door, which is super convenient if you need a prescription filled!
They are wonderful as soon as you walk in the door they take the time to help you the doctors and PA’s are so knowledgeable and really help you .
I came in and the guy at the desk didnt greet me or say can I help you he just blanked started at me like he didnt want to do his job so I said something and he was just not customer service at all especially in a place with kids who are sick and mothers whos doing they best for they kids I was pissed and didnt like the atmosphere at all I would never come back as long as I dont have to he made the visit worth never recommendimg poorest customer service in all of 2024!!!
I had an emergency prescription to fill so I called ahead to make sure they could do it they were nice and professional over the phone and told me everything should be fine. I came in a couple hours later and filled out all my paper work and was in and out within 45 minutes. Front staff was great doctor I talked to was great and they even tried to call to checkup a few days later so all in all a pretty great experience. They said they might not take my insurance but thats on me not them so Im waiting for something in the mail. A new afc just opened near me but I will prob still come to this location due to the great experience I had.
I was in and out within 30 minutes. Best urgent care out there, the staff was exceptionally caring and got me in right away. I got 2 stitches on my finger and the DR made 100% sure I was completely numb before proceeding with stitches. Would recommend them to anyone!
If I could give 0 stars I would! Horrible service, the people in the front only care about “ all I’m thinking about is what I want for lunch” are you kidding me! I went in for a rapid COVID test, the lady in the from told me it was an hour wait. I was there for 3 hours! I went to ask how much longer and the woman in the front said, “ all the rooms are full.” I finally get called to the back to be seen after the 3 hour wait and I counted 5 rooms that were completely empty. No one was in the back. The people in the front are so polite amongst themselves but when it comes to the clients in the waiting room they completely ignore them, the phone keeps ringing and not being answered, there’s only two people in the waiting room so they are not attending anyone. I do not recommend this place, go anywhere else but here. It’s not worth it. If you have insurance you pay the co pay but they don’t tell you about the $200 charge that comes afterwards.
Came here for i693 physical exam and the staff almost missed my deadline. On the phone and when I came in for the appointment, it was promised that I can get my exam results 7 days later. I also got another phone call 3 days after that said my report is ready. So I came in exactly 7 days later but the staff said they accidentally missed the doctor’s signature on the form and have to delay my reports until another 7 days later. I had to call 3 times before getting a time to pick up that would be just in time for my interview.Immigration related paperwork is extremely time sensitive; while AFC did offer a remedy that barely works at the end, I would definitely recommend anyone looking for a i693 exam here to closely follow up with the report status to avoid any mistakes/delays.
Thank You!Even after telling them I had a bad infection, my primary Doctor could not see me for two months. . Once at Urgent Care the wait was not that bad at all and the Doctor or PA that saw me was very caring, attentive, and possibly saved me from loosing an appendage that I have grown very attached to! Once Again,Thanks You!
Worse experience at a medical facility ever!!!! Took my 3 yrs old daughter there 9 days ago on a Sunday night; the medical assistant was rude and careless, she didnt greeted us well, barely looked at my daughter. My daughter was complaining that the oxygen reader on her finger was hurting, she didnt even respond, so after my daughter complained a couple more times, I asked her if she was going to be done soon and her response was Oh, I was already done... my bad. Then, we had the displeasure to be seen by Dr. Parker (the worse Dr. I have ever meet my life). She also barely greeted me and never greeted her patient (my daughter), she barely let me talk and as soon as she saw my daughters ears were red her consultation was over. When I tried to talk about how my daughter had thrown up and was complaining that her belly was hurting, she shut me up by saying no, not know. Now, we are only going to treat her ears then she walked away from the room and finished our under 10 minutes consultation that I paid $120 for. The overall feeling was that they wanted us to know they were done for the day and we were not welcome. Today I called there because the antibiotic prescribed for 10 days ended and they told me that if I feel I need more I have to come back and pay for a follow up (but at least it would be 1/2 the price). Unbelievable!!! I prefer to pay more then come back to this place.
Staff was very nice. The doctor I saw was amazing and patient with me and how nervous I was. Very professional and very clean! There was a decent wait time but that is any er or urgent care.
Pretty unhappy with my experience. I came in on a Sunday feeling miserable. I had strep throat 5 weeks prior and felt the exact same way as I did then. When I came in, they did a rapid strep test that came back negative. They also tested me for mono which came back negative. The doctor told me to take Tylenol, and that was about it. Again, I felt the exact same as a did a few weeks prior and he just told me to take Tylenol and sent me home. I left the office feeling so horrible and like they wouldn’t help me. It seemed they only cared about getting me in and out and didn’t listen to anything I had said, feeling helpless. However, I know my body and I knew this wasn’t viral. So I went back in about 20 minutes later and asked for them to send a culture to the lab to get tested for strep. Well, the test came back POSITIVE! I have spent 4 days WITHOUT antibiotics because they wouldn’t prescribe any to me even though I had strep. I also wouldn’t know I had strep if I didn’t go back into the office and ask that they send a culture to get tested. Ultimately, so disappointed in this experience. I basically had to do the doctors job. I’m so glad I didn’t just go back home and take “Tylenol”, but guess what? Tylenol doesn’t cure strep.
Urgent care with good service that takes most insurance
Drove in here to get checked out because I have had a gnarly upper respiratory infection going on 4 weeks now. Within the past week i was in close contact with 2 covid patients. So following the advise of my school nurse I went to urgent care to get an X-ray, PCR, and blood work. I checked into AFC, they triaged me, where I was brought back into a cubical where the NP, an older blonde woman, informed me she needed to call an ambulance for me based on my symptoms. I explained the situation, how I was just at school, drove here she again stated with the shortness of breath she needed to call an ambulance. I was absolutely surprised considering still she had not taken any vitals at this point. She never did, because I said I didn’t need an ambulance, she refuses care, and she had me sign AMA forms. It’s just so crazy to me, I can’t imagine how a paramedic would feeling pulling up to urgent Care for a patient the NP deemed critical yet the NP hadn’t taken vitals on. So drove home, wrote this and will drive to the ER once my kids come home from school. So I guess for me, patient care is grossly lacking here and it’s all liability and money, such a bummer.
Worst experience ever. After waiting 2 1/2 hrs the doctor made me feel like I don’t matter. Like I was a waste of time. He didn’t spend more then 5 min with me. Refused to consider my medical history telling me there was a 90% chance that didn’t matter and when asked about the other 10% chance he said I’d have to deal with it. As I was crying in the exam room he came in to inform me to “leave to the waiting room because he had more patience to see”. I’ve never left feeling so hopeless and in so much pain before. And all I was asking for was antibiotics. As I was leaving there was another patient who was asking for the same thing meanwhile the doctor had the nurse inform him all he could do was take care of it himself.Next time I will drive the 30 min to santee where I used to live to go to the afc there because I never want to go through this again and I’ve had nothing but patience and care in santee. So sad the way we’re treated and treating people today.
My experience at this AFC was spectacular! The women who assisted me were very kind, genuine, and professional. I felt extremely at ease and their bedside manner went above and beyond my expectations. They took all the precautionary measures recommended. I was in and out of the center within and hour.I highly recommend this location and you couldn’t have better people to assist you and your health.
Another mismanaged clinic which doesn’t abide by their posted hours nor provide updates when they don’t. And, should you drive to their location to find this out, they’ll provide you with a list of other locations which stop seeing patients before scheduled closing time. Horrible.
I had such an amazing visit! I was extremely anxious and nervous but the staff made me feel so welcome. Especially Yasmine and Sugay:) 10/10 recommend
Called to make sure they took my insurance, they said they did. Got there and they charged me $20 more. Saw the doc(he was fine). No problems but the NP was judgey because I had tattoos. Got my prescription and left but I did call back to ask about the co-pay, they said they called my insurance to verify. So found out that they lied about carrying my insurance and the lied about calling my carrier and lied about the co-pay. Even if they did cover my insurance I wouldnt go back there.
Clean, friendly, organized – took our son for an ear infection and it was a good experience. Front desk girl was really nice. Had to wait about half an hour total but it wasn’t that bad and they had a movie playing for kids. Send over the prescription to the CVS by our house, but they can also send it to the CVS right next-door to the urgent care if you want. $129 flat fee, not horrible price.
They call it “urgent care” but if your problem is actually urgent, expect to wait over an hour. My significant other had to go in for a couple of tests. Not COVID test, not flu shot, just a few questions she needed for work. After over an hour of waiting they eventually call someone back that was there after her. Once she asks what’s going on, the receptionist says there’s “people on break” and it’ll be “another 30 mins”. We’ve already been waiting an hour and now we have to wait even longer. This is one of the least professional urgent cares I’ve been to, and certainly the last time we visit this one. If you have an urgent need, DO NOT COME HERE. They will not make it urgent. You’re better driving out of SD than waiting here.
01/08/24. I really liked the staff, the nurse, the doctor, they were wonderful! thank you for your help and professionalism!
My first time leaving a review in 5 years. Giving 5 stars to AFC Urgent Care (off Balboa). The reasons why are below:- across the board everyone was kind- I made a telehealth call needing an X-ray and they suggested a good time to walk in when the X-ray Technician arrives- the doctor and x-ray technician were super down to earth- after leaving AFC Urgent Care a rep called to say they got a second opinion on my X-ray to ensure I had the best treatment plan- finally AFC Urgent Care did a follow up call to simply check in on how Im recoveringThis is 5-star service! Thank you!
I had a bad asthma attack Sat night and came in Sunday, scared and in pain. The wait wasn’t too bad, and the staff was wonderful. I was taken seriously, treated effectively and given meds that helped me breath somewhat normally within a few hours. 3 days later and I’m still recovering, but if it weren’t for AFC Urgent Care, I would be much worse.
I am so pleased with the staff. This is the way every visit to a Dr should feel. The receptionist was pleasant from the moment I walked in. The nurses worked fast while making sure she did everything right. The Dr was sooo helpful in diagnosing and treating. I am so glad to know they are right around the corner of I need to make another visit.
Came down with my regular- a sinus infection and had to get in and out quickly. This place was a pleasure! I called ahead, they accepted my insurance, told me there were 2 people ahead of me. I walked in 20 minutes later, got signed in, and waited about 15 minutes (which I walked and got a coffee) and then was pulled into the back by the nurse shortly after. The nurse was thorough and methodical and took his time doing intake. I sat in a room waiting for a doctor for about 5 minutes and Dr. Keeler (the medical director there) walked in. She had excellent bedside manner, was kind, asked questions and checked me out quickly. They sent the script next door to CVS and I was home shortly after. The whole thing took about 2 hours or less, start to finish. Highly recommend.
We have been there a few times because we live nearby and its easier than scheduling an urgent visit with our pediatrician (less wait time). Took my son in for ear infection and one time for bronchitis... We never had to wait more than 30 minutes. Saw two different doctors there and both were very nice and knowledgeable.. One of the doctors spent many years working as an Emergency Room doctor in the past. I would definitely recommend this place. Also, for those needing prescriptions, there is ACV right next door, in the same building! Very convenient.
I came in distressed because my husband and I needed to take an emergency flight back home to Georgia and needed COVID tests. I came in there ready for the fight of my life because I know how everything has been running so much slower since the pandemic and I was greeted by a wonderful employee named Yasmine. She reassured me that they would do everything they can to get me in and get me out in time for my flight. She took really great care of us and I appreciated her amazing customer service.
The staff was rude and very off putting on the phone. I gave them a chance to shift the behavior and would definitely not recommend this Drs office.I dont about you, but when Im in pain, I want to feel welcomed and valued as a client.in my experience, that personalized quality of service does not exist here. Nor does the time seem hey exist for the staff to provide articulate answers to what services they provide. The office manager was rude and short (terse) and did seem to even know what osteopathy was to provide a definition so I could ascertain if it was best to go there or elsewhere. She put the Dr on the phone who never apologized for her lack of manners or knowledge, but was instead rushed and I finally hung up after saying, Ill just deal with the pain. Its just easier than this!So assuming that you, like me, want more from a Dr than to be a number, Id certainly suggest you look elsewhere.
Excellent professional patient-centered service! Thank you
I was new to the area and needed medical attention right away. They were so friendly and polite to me when I came in. I knew I wouldn’t be seen right away so I was put on a list and she told me to go grab some lunch and she will call my cell when I’m close to being called! Amazing because I was starving!! The nurse was super friendly and the doctor was well knowledgeable and understood my issues. Highly recommended!
Although everyone is nice, their service is horrible. I’ve been waiting for over an HOUR just for a doctors note so I can go back to work. They kept telling me I was next, then after an hour they tell me it’s 30 more minutes because the provider took her break. I understand you need breaks, but if you have a someone waiting for you & ITS GONNA BE QUICK?? Wouldn’t you just help them real quick??? Instead I’m now going to be late for work when I could’ve been done in here within 30 mins. I will now be waiting 1 hour & 30 mins before I even get seen. Ridiculous. Not very urgent, if you ask me.
DO NOT GO HERE. I originally gave it 4 stars - then the bill came. They billed me twice for the same service, without a shred of rationale beyond presumably hoping Id pay it rather than deal with their (nearly impenetrable) bureaucracy.Oh, and I called this particular office about it, two of the receptionists repeatedly lied to me that they had no way of contacting billing beyond the 1-800 number before a third actually gave me contact info. Needless to say, help from billing has not been forthcoming.Edit: Literally the same day they responded to this review expressing their concern, I got a call threatening to send it to collections. Everything they say on here is just marketing BS.
Waited an hr in the exam room with no one checking on me at all, dr came in & had none of the info I had already provided to the MA, prescribed me a med I specifically told them I was allergic to. Dr told me to get albuterol OTC, which it is a controlled medication available only by Rx. Extremely unprofessional and unreliable. Had to see a different urgent care same day
The staff were very nice, and didnt have to wait a long time to see the doctor. I recommend them, thank you for your awesome service.
I came here for a follow up for HFMD. I had a great experience. Waiting room is very clean and feels just like a regular doctors office. The staff was friendly and helpful. The doctor was friendly, very knowledgeable and thorough. I was in and out in just under an hour. I highly recommend coming here for all of your urgent care needs!
Wasted my time! ive been needing to get a covid test today and this morning they turned me away and asked me to call back in 4 hours. i just did and the girl prompted me to come in right away cause there was no line and they could take me. i was there inside of ten minutes only to be turned away unapologetically by the receptionist who said i dont know who told u that. these guys need to communicate better amongs themselves so they dont un-necessarily burden the gral public! today my gral. practitioners office wasnt picking-up the phone 12 minutes after their opening time had began...the medical profession has become a racket steered for profit by big pharma with little regard for their client base. (part 2 begins here), i changed the 1 star to 5 for this reason. after 10 days i decided that the antigen test from cvs may not have been thorough ( they were both negative) so i went in again. Brianna at the front desk was wonderful, attentive, alert, polite and helpful-there was also another lady whose name i didnt catch, that was also good, she may have been the manager- and Melanie, the practitioner was outstanding! Based on my latest visit i decided to bury the hatchet and express gratitude to have them in our neighborhood!
Terrible experience— I went in to this location after 10 days of coughing non stop and loosing my voice. The nurse practitioner told me that she knew I had a virus because I was loosing my voice and that I was fine and sent me home to take Mucinex. Day 11 I’m even sicker and after seeing my primary doctor am prescribed antibiotics for the burning in my chest that this place wouldn’t even acknowledge.
Went in due to a swollen bug bite. Dr refused to even look at the reason I came and demanded I go to the ER because of high blood pressure. The hbp has been a problem for the better part of 35 years, but I wanted help for my foot! Dr refused, I left and went home. Two hours wasted
The staff at AFC Urgent Care off of Balboa were very polite, patient and friendly. Their work spaces were clean and everyone followed protocol, maintaining the 6ft apart rule and wearing mask and sanitizing their hands. Everyone seemed happy and loved their job. I would definitely refer this place to anyone.
They suck. Stupid people. The staff you can tell they hate their stupid Job. Doctors don’t know how to diagnose. They’re still obsessed making people wear the stupid mask.
Professional staff quickly diagnoses the issues and provides remedies.
I arrived with shortness of breath and chest pain today. I was quickly checked in, vitals taken, and roomed. The doctor working asked me very detailed questions and determined it was more suitable for me to go to an ER. She waived any fees, which was really nice of her based on intake and work up done. Im now at the ER waiting for results of my condition. Id recommend this caring and upfront UCC to anyone. They simply did the right thing.
Came here for the first time on a Saturday because of an injury. Originally at the Mira Mesa location. Sent to the Clairemont location because of the x-ray machine not being available at the MM location. Waited over an hour in the waiting room before taken to the back room. Waited another hour to be seen by the NP/DO. Horrible front desk service. Music blasting everywhere. We could hear it in the exam room. When you are not feeling you DO NOT want to hear pop music blasting! If the music isnt soothing to create a homeopathic environment, then dont play any!!! Staff definitely are not friendly or serve their customers well as the other Yelp reviewers had mentioned. So disappointed. Definitely do not recommend this location and will advise my insurance company because this urgent care is one of their contracted service care providers. One their employees had a body tattoo showing everywhere. Definitely not a professional environment. If we were going to spend more than 2 -3 hrs, we might as well go to the ER where professional healthcare providers can treat us appropriately. Please retrain your staff to create a healing environment for the sick and injured.
Word to the wise, youll spend half your day waiting to see a doctor! The staff was ok, even though I agreed to pay out of pocket, I sat for over an hour in a waiting room for a simple eye infection! WE NEVER SAW A DOCTOR! There was no else waiting to be seen, its as if the doctor had a dont give a damn attitude my son was the deciding factor when he said Lets go this place sucks personally Id rather sit up in an emergency room and get better results! Save your money, time, and frustration just go somewhere else! I noticed that theyre next door to a CVS, and a couple of people got sent there for prescriptions, so they must be getting some kind of kickback! Ive received better service in a low class neighborhood with thugs at the front door!
Everyone was really friendly, I didnt wait long, and left with the prescription i needed. I ended up here because they accepted my insurance (Molina) when the first urgent care place I tried didnt. Didnt expect to have such a pleasant experience at an urgent care place!
Complete waste of time.Took my daughter there, filled out the paper work and stayed in the waiting room for over 30 mins. Receptionist let us know the pediatric doctor didn’t want to us because my daughter was too young (15 months). Receptionist was very rude about the situation and told us to just go to Radys.
I thought Id dislocated my index finger, so I went in to have them take a look, since it was Sunday. Its a nice office in the mall near the Vons at Balboa and Genesee. Paperwork first, insurance card. waited about 10 minutes to see the medical assistance. She took 3 x-rays of my hand. They found no dislocation, which was a good thing. Its just sore, and will be for a few days. Saw the Doc. He checked me out and let me know it will heal itself, which was the main reason I went in... to see how bad it was. Glad to know it was okay.
The moment we walked in the MA was so rude. I can see why this place has only 3 ⭐ patients go there not feeling well to begin with and for the staff to be rude makes the patient feel even more worse
My husband and I arrived at 8:30am for COVID testing. Talia, Yasmine, Dalia, & Brianna worked in unison to get us tested and counseled expeditiously with very little wait time. They were all very professional, friendly & efficient. We have recommend their services to family & friends. Great team!
Never Again.Warning! Doctors here can file bills under their own tax ID number instead of The Doctors Express! Here is what happened. In April, I thought my husband had Strep so I called his insurance to find an in-network doctor. They directed us to Doctors Express (DE). He waited about 90 minutes, saw the doctor, paid the co-pay, and went on his way. Several weeks later, we received a bill for the entire visit. When we called, we were told that his insurance did not cover his visit. Confused, we made several calls and found that Dr. Julie Keeler filed the claim using HER OWN TAX ID number, not the DE. After calling DE again, The guy at the desk seemed helpful, but resubmitted the same bill under the same ID and we received another bill for less. Now here we are in June. We called our insurance today and verified that they will pay 100% expenses after the copay. DE just needs to file properly. Perfect, back to DE. Jay was completely unhelpful. He said he would take care of it, this of course after we explained the situation four times. When my husband asked for a confirmation or when the issue would be resolved, Jay had to be prodded for a response. Very unhelpful and overall, very confusing.
Came in looking for urgent care services… the receptionist suggested I just come back in 30 minutes. Didn’t bother to have a nurse check me out, or get vitals. Didn’t ask me to start on paperwork. Just flat out told me to come back at a later time. Would not recommend this location.
Last week I fell in my backyard and got a big, ugly , painful laceration on my forearm. I went to AFC Urgent Care on Balboa and was very impressed at the caring and professionalism of the Doctor and Nurse who attended to me.I was given a tetanus shot and my wound was cleared and bandaged. The office was spotless and convenient. Thank you Dr. Kiley and staff. If needed, that’s the place to go.
I have called the numbers, three different times, just to talk to someone about setting up arrangements for our small business employees to be able to see a doctor when needed. I didnt even get to explain who I was, what the call was for, etc. It was just Urgent Care, can you please hold? followed by 10, 15, 20 minutes of classical piano. No pick-up after that. Nothing but piano. I had to finally hang up every time. Is this really a way to run a business? My natural question is, if this is how they treat people at the customer-contact points, how proficient are they at treating patients? The answer is, they probably DO NOT have any quality controls in place--for anything. What a shame. I feel bad for the investors. But...its an opportunity for a competitor to come into town and take AFCs marketshare. That would be a plus for San Diego.
Received care very quickly. Staff pleasant and professional. Received clear instructions on after care and a call to my home to see if I was doing okay and if I had any questions or concerns. Hope I never need them again but if I do I will return.
I reluctantly went to this urgent care for back spasms. I ended up being seen by Teresa Slager who listened to my concerns, was compassionate and thoughtful in her approach and overall, just awesome. I had to receive a shot and the physicians assistant that gave me the shot was equally awesome. He joked that in school he earned the nickname velvet hands for his skill drawing blood. We laughed and joked about ol velvet hands having to give me a shot in the butt. Their positive attitude and bedside manner was great. I couldnt have asked for better treatment in my condition. I highly recommend this urgent care and their staff.
My daughter and I recently had to be seen here and we can’t express enough how nice the visit was. Excellent care, friendly staff, and smiling faces greated us as we walked in. We never feel rushed and everyone takes the time to make sure we are okay throughout the entire visit. We recommend this urgent care to everyone.
The staff was friendly, although not thorough. My husband had to go fetch my ID.I think that the PAS and DRs are not that fully trained for any potential problem. For example - shingles - got one treatment from the first one and when I went back got a whole other view point. Which worked? I honestly dont know. Its a diagnosis that has no clear path. I did feel better under both.I cant be sure that if I hadnt gotten treatment that the result would be different. It is a comfort to know that, in spite of the revolving door for help, per HR who speaks loudly about employment and conditions of patients, everyone I dealt with was trying their best.K
Went to get my daughter’s hand x-rayed because of a basketball injury. Service and doctor consultation was very quick and x-rays were expertly taken.Definitely recommend this urgent care to anyone in need of immediate attention.
The medical assistant and doctor were very helpful and attentive :) The front desk staff however, had me wait +30 min after my appointment, for my signature... They didnt even apologize for it, saying they were dealing with some issues in the back... As if I hadnt stare at them discharge patients that came in later than me... Good patient care, but very poor customer service.
I will never return to this urgent care again! Yesterday (11/3/18) was my first and last visit to this urgent care. I went in for a sinus infection (might i add that I am also 24 weeks pregnant). I had been sick for a week and explained not only this but that my entire household had just gotten over being sick and i was the final one to get it. I explained what my symptoms were, how they differed from my childrens and because i have had sinus infections before i was sure that was what i was there for. I announced that i was pregnant and gave all proper information upon triage. The wait was not long and the front desk staff was pleasant however once i got into the exam room the story was different as far as the provider goes. She did not give me a proper exam at all. She walked into the room and asked me what my name was, i recited my information. She says to me you have a sinus infection, i said yes and explained my symptoms. She then states and you are pregnant (her tone when she said the word pregnant was not pleasant by any means). To which my response was yes I am pregnant. She then looks into my throat and says that i can wait in the waiting room for my paperwork and she is prescribing augmentin for me. I explained to her that augmentin makes me very sick to my stomach as i also explained to her staff at triage. Her response was its either augmentin, keflex or deal with it. She states keflex wont do anything for my sinus infection which she can tell i have by looking at my throat. I was appalled. She explained what augmentin is made up of so i asked that she just prescribe amoxicillin which is one of the components and is safe to take during pregnancy. She agreed and told me to wait in the waiting area. I then asked that before i go she check my ears. Her response was i could but it wont change the medication. This made me upset because i was not asking to change the medication. I was asking to be examined by the acting physician. She looked in each ear and her response to each was yep. Then again said it wont change the medication. She did not discuss my diagnosis. She did not explain her yep. I thanked her and left the exam room. Once i got to the waiting room she came out and loudly said to the staff done, done then went back into the office. I was asked to have a seat while she does her notes. Upon discharged i was given paperwork that states i have a bilateral ear infection and an antibiotic was at the pharmacy. As a long time medical assistant who has worked in urgent cares and Drs offices I understand the urgency to get a patient in, seen and out (after a proper exam) but there was one person other than myself waiting to be seen in the waiting room. The provider did not spend more than 4 minutes with me and did not give me a proper medical work up. I was pretty much self diagnosed when i walked in and if i had not asked her to check my ears not only would i have left that way but she would not have even come near me let alone done any type of exam on me. She was rather rude and made the statement she could tell by my throat yet no rapid strep was performed or any tests for that matter. I can not wait to see what the bill for this visit will be. I will not be recommending this facility to anyone in the future.
2nd time here and not coming back. . . If X-Ray is not in please tell your patients. No need for me to sit there for an hour only to find out X-Ray wont be in for another 3 hours. Other offices providing better service and something that needs to be addressed if you want good patient care. Make an effort to communicate please.
They were amazing! I needed to get a rapid COVID test and was nervous as I’ve heard it’s painful. Yazmine was AMAZING!! She explained the whole process and it was completely painless. The whole staff was friendly and efficient. Highly recommend!
This place is absolutely terrible. Extremely slow had me wait 3 whole hours for a physical check. The line wasnt even big, around 5 people. Id suggest only going this place if its your absolute last option. They dont respect your time at all which really shows
Everyone working at this location was so nice, even had a good laugh about my tattoos with the doctor. The nurse who had to give me a shot was amazing and I barely even felt it.
Staff was extremely helpful and understood the urgency to see our son ASAP. Couldnt have asked for a more pleasant first time experience. Thank you!
Triaged my cut right away and rebandaged. Every staff member was personable, but professional. They offered to call me so I could leave the building while waiting to get stitched up. I only waited an additional 45 minutes. I had a really great experience here. I would return if something came up again.
If you want to be ignored, talked down to and pushed out the door then go here. The doc and front desk were both awful. They took my co-pay and unnecessarily referred to an emergency room because they didnt feel like treating me. I came in a half hour before closing time therefore they deemed it necessary to be rude and unaccommodating. If you dont like people then why are you in healthcare to begin with?
RIGTH staff was friendly!@@##@.I called them and make sure they except my insurance which they said yes. I drove all the way to there . I filled up the paper work, they said my insurance was inactive. They were even nice to send me to an other urgent care who except my inactive insurance. Can you believe that!!! I called my Insurance and I have an active insurance, and they dont have agreement with my insurance. Stay away from this place, they dont know what they are doing and they find some thing else to cover their mistake. I didnt see a doctor but if front desk is like this I dont even want to think how is their doctor. VERY DISAPPOINTED!!!!
I cant wrap my head around how unprofessional the practicioner and his assistant are.. If you are sick go the extra mile to the next urgent care.Zero compassion at all. Came in after taking Advil to combat an ongoing fever, chills, and confusion. Explained my history of kidney issues and asked immediately to take a urine sample to rule out that diagnosis. Doctor did a fast strep and ruled out strep ...he prescribed me a mouth wash and told me to come back when I have a real fever. I honestly couldnt believe my ears.. Got home realized he never explained the result of the urine sample. Called back they told me I needed to come back in despite the fact that they had my sample - ? Couldnt travel back out there. Ended up going to another urgent care who tested me positive for a kidney infection. I wish I could remember the name of the man who treated me. Walk out if its an older man.
Good organized efficient team work 💪 thx. Hopefully I dont need to come in again, but if some unforseen accident happens I would rather pop into AFC Than a hospital emergency room, for sure.
!!!!DO NOT GO HERE FOR COVID TESTING BEFORE YOU TRAVEL!!!!!Do not waste your time or money at this place, absolutely worst run businesses I’ve ever experienced. We arrived at 7:30am before they opened and we were first in line to get Covid tests to travel to Hawaii. They didn’t see us until 8:45am and we didn’t get out of there till after 9:15 am.To make matters worse they produced a false positive and we almost had to cancel our Hawaii trip potentially losing $20,000. I strongly advise everyone to use the testing site at the airport for expedient, honest and reliable results.
I had just called about 10-15 minutes ago about coming in. The front desk didnt share with me about the procedures. I asked if they took anyone, and she said Yes, were and urgent care. I get here off of Lyft and she tells me that I cannot be seen with straight medical and and I had to pay $129 and she cant look it up. No remorse, no care nothing. Customer service was extremely below standards. Why say you accept everyone and I come off of Lyft and now cant be seen. This was outrageous and Ill never come to this location again.
Overall good experience, I believe the nurse practitioner should have asked me if I had any previous issues with depression or anxiety before prescribing me gabapintin. I also believe a Dr. Should be seeing g patients
Horrible place, people don’t know what they are doing. Can’t provide you with a DOT medical exam, will charge you money, waste your time and clearly don’t even know anything about the service they’re claiming they provide. Nonsense
Lousy service from an uncaring staff. Absolutley the worst urgent care I have ever been to. Do not go here if you can absolutely help it. The physicians assistant Tracy Becker is a heartless troll. The whole AFC leadership should be fired. This kind of surly uncaring attitude filters down from the top.
Im very sick. My chest hurts, Im sneezing, coughing, and my eyes are so dry and itchy. They refused to see me. I have medi-cal but from another county. Ridiculous that the state of California covers me. But San Diego rejected me.
Professional staffing. Kept me up to date on timing and preliminaries. Doctor was thorough and very clear in discussions
AFC is the best urgent care around, period. Have been to the Santee location and now this location as it is closer to our new home. Professional, Quick, Thorough...what else could you ask for. Dr. Stuart is pleasant and knowledgeable as well. Highly recommend.
I called and they said they would do a COVID test, which they did, but charged me for COVID Test AND $199.00 for an outpatient visit. Its a racket. I was working with my insurance to sort it out and they charged me an additional $25 late fee. Complete scammers. I would advise you not to go there.
I have used these urgent care services multiple times over the years they have been open. I have no insurance and the visit fee is very affordable! The doctors are very experienced and treat you sometimes better than a primary physician can. Back strain, Flu, Skin infections, etc...I highly recommend this place!
The place was clean and tidy. The staff was friendly and professional. Service was just a bit slow but they followed up with two calls to see how I was doing. To answer the question, would you recommend AFC Urgent Care to a friend or family member? I already have.
Worst urgent care ever. Its nice to finally have one in clairemont but absolutely the worst. Waited for over 2 hours when there was basically no one in the waiting room. The nurses had no sense of urgency and felt like they should be working in a McDonalds rather than a medical profession. Will definitely never come here again.
WORST PLCE TO GO IF YOU NEED HELP. I took my mom to do COVID test before she leaves, and they said results will be out the day she leaves, we sign up to get results by email. And asked the frond desk to email it to us when they call us. So when they called me I told her to send the results via email NOW bc were are at the airport. BUT OF COURE SHE DID NOT SEND IT!!!! GOD KNOWS what could happened if we did not do another test in another place.... we could’ve lost the ticket!!! It’s horrible how they just don’t care.
Dr Sobieck was very thorough, caught my wifes pneumonia at an early stage and explained everything very clearly. Additionally they called two days later to see how she was doing. We wholeheartedly recommend this clinic to anyone with urgent care needs.
Came in for my Physical and take care of my PHA (Military Annual Screening). From the front receptionist to the PA that took care of my visit, the entire staff was professional and friendly. Great place to go in for Urgent Care visits and physicals. I would recomend this place to my peers in the Military and also those in the civilian sector.Thank you Team
Great experience. Friendly staff and knowledgeable doctors. Vitals, eval, x-rays all done efficiently and quickly. Doc gave me detailed breakdown of injury and instructions on how to treat it, as well as how to prevent similar ones in the future. Left with splint and med tape. All in less than 45 minutes. A+ would break finger again.
Yasmine was very helpful with my COVID rapid test. There arent a lot available per day and she helped me know to arrive early (6:30am) to get the test done in time for my needs and Im very appreciative of the assistance provided by this urgent care facility.
Doctor was great friendly staff highly recommend this place 👌
CAUTION please do not come to this clinic to get covid19 testing they lost my fiancé’s test it’s been 15 days and they are still giving him the run around. They are compromising peoples lives do not come here go to Sharp instead. Now they do not want to refund his money back for services that were not provided completely unacceptable and very negligent.
My daughter fell in the Target parking lot and made her way over to the urgent care, just across the street. They did X-rays and diagnosed her broken elbow, sprained wrist, and shoulder, and gave her a sling. The Nurse Practitioner stitched up a laceration above her eyebrow with care and skill. At follow up with an orthopedist, he said the X-ray diagnosis was very good to see that hairline fracture and stitches were done really well to avoid scarring.I’d definitely recommend AFC Urgent care when you don’t need to spend hours in the ER, and it can be freed up for more serious injury and illness.
This was my first time going to an urgent care for anything and I was pleasantly surprised at how quick and friendly the service was here! I was in and out within 45 minutes and all the staff were very helpful and personable.
Im not sure whats going on today but the lady at the front desk is very rude. One of the other patients in the waiting area let me know that she felt the same way. Ive been here a few times in the last year and a half but this is the first time Ive had this experience. If shes here again I wont be coming back.
Everyone (from the receptionist to the doctor) was so friendly and attentive to me...and my service dog. They even rushed a little bit so I could be on time for my next appointment. So considerate!! I will definitely go back!!
They checked my throat and said there were no signs of strep but couldn’t diagnose me cause they don’t have a “catscan” to check if it’s a sinus infection or anything and I asked maybe I have bronchitis and they said I don’t cause they don’t hear it in my cough but my throat and head hurt really bad !! So they didn’t really diagnose me just gave me antibiotics said it should help.. the doctor didn’t really listen either
The front office made me feel they did not know what was going on. each person answering the phone had a different answer regarding covid testing. alot of flip flop answers and none of them were synchronized. I ended up going to Scripps in Torrey Pines for same day testing and received my results 24 hours later. would love to speak to someone about my experience in depth about this location they made me feel stupid for asking questions.
This was my first and last time at this place. I’m using the medicine called “prednisone 5mg” for more than 15 years. On the week that I went to the clinic, my medicine is over, so I would need a prescription to buy. Also I went to the clinic because I was sick. When I arrived there, I talked to the girls in front desk and I said that I need the prescription for my medicine, and also I said I’m sick. They told me that the doctor needs to see me first amd then, he ia gonna give me the prescription. Okay, I paid $129,00 because I don’t have insurance. I paid only thinking on my prescription that I needed because if I don’t take the medicine correctly, I could have serious problems. I explained to the doctor what I have to take this medicine and he told me he can’t do the prescription because he doesn’t know what I have. About I being sick, he only told me I have dehydration. So I paid $129,00 only to hear the doctor that I have dehydration, and the prescription that I need he didn’t give me. After that I asked my money back because I paid only because the girls in front desk told me the doctor is gonna see myself and than give me the prescription. So I’m gonna process the clinic for fraud, because the girls told me something different and I paid thinking the doctor was give me the prescription. Ridiculous paying $129,00 for nothing.
Ive been here multiple times and I never have had a bad experience. Yasmeen and staff were very fast and did a thorough job. Everyone was very friendly and informative. I highly recommend coming here if you need a fast, easy and friendly place to go.
Place is trash af. There was one person ahead of us. It took over an hour and ten minutes to be seen. The person ahead of us had to wait 30 minutes after the visit for their prescription and discharge papers. You’re better off waiting at an emergency room, honestly the wait is ridiculous for such a low volume of patients. Don’t come here
The staff was fantastic! Polite, friendly, and very informative. It took about 1.5 hours, but thats really a short time, considering the ER is a 3-4 hour wait. Youve found your place. :-)
Took my wife, everything seemed to go smoothly.
Took my son in for a physical. They provided an excellent service from the receptionists Bria & Dalia to Yas and to the Super friendly Dr Arvizu.Great service and courteous staff.
Really disappointed with the care here. Went in with back pain, was told repeatedly that they would not rx opioids even though I clearly expressed I did not want drugs. The physician dismissed me in the middle of my explanation of pain, chalked it up to muscle strain and sent me on my way with NSAIDS. Will not be going back here ever.
Had a great experience at this urgent care, all the staff was very friendly and Dr. Rafla was kind and extremely patient, making sure that I was in as little pain as possible and taking the time to explain all the details of the healing process.
Super nice professional medical staff and the doctor I saw showed concern, kindness and professionalism I was well pleased.
Ridiculous, went in because I had a fever. I have insurance and am aware of what my medical deductibles were. They overcharged me and my insurance didnt want to pay out their amount due. My bill went into collections BEFORE someone even told me there was an additional balance due.STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE. Even if you have insurance theyll find a way to screw you over.
Very helpful and attentive staff. My injury was treated, my concerns were heard and addressed and the doctor who treated me was very knowledgeable and professional. Highly recommended to anyone in need of urgent care in the San Diego area.
They took great care of me! I have an infection in my tooth they noticed it.
If I could give negative I would. I have chronic bronchitis and was prescribed over the counter nasal allergy spray. I thought it was a mistake but it wasn’t. The glorified male nurse pretending to be a dr blatantly lied to me as well. They don’t even have a real dr there!!! When asked if I could talk to a dr I was told one would be in next weekend. What a joke
The doctor on a Sunday morning was very helpful and informative. But took an hour for a routine sinus infection. But glad to have an urgent care in our neighborhood!
Made an appointment online and then was there for 5 minutes and they literally did nothing for me. I have been to much better and more informative urgent cares who actually care about my symptoms.
