It’s not an easy decision for us to write a negative review here because we have put too much into this fertility journey with PFC. The staff was nice and responsive. Dr. Ryan is cold and blunt, and lack of empathy. We only care about the results. We are warning every body here because we have ZERO success after three years of treatment and spending over $80k there. This clinic is purely profit driven and does not care about its patients. Specifically for Dr. Ryan, as the director for the donor egg program, she clearly has no ideal the quality of eggs they were getting and selling to patients. We feel scammed, pretty badly. The last straw is our failed donor FET cycle. After four rounds of failed IUI, one failed IVF, Dr Ryan(Director of the donor egg program) suggested using donor eggs. We looked at the statistics and decided to give it a try, thought we were at the end of the tunnel. We purchased two lots of frozen eggs from Pacific Egg Bank, donated by a young and healthy donor. The 12 “young and healthy” eggs yielded only ONE genetically normal embryo, which did implant but stopped growing at 6 weeks. Dr’s own words “due to health issues with the embryo itself”. That said, 12 young and healthy donor eggs yielded ZERO healthy embryos. This is an unreasonably low number that means something is wrong (look online it’s easy to find). The 12 eggs cost $32k, the embryo creation and transfer caused $13k in total. We believe something must have gone very wrong in the process. Low quality eggs - of course. The Pacific Egg Bank apparently doesn’t know anything about the donor or eggs, or they just don’t care enough about the patients. We asked for the donor’s history of transfer success before the FET. The egg bank would not tell us anything. They alleged they were “protecting the donor’s privacy”. They just collect our money and all the risk is on the patient. When we asked Dr. Ryan why the number is so low, she said it’s due to the uncertainty of the process. THAT’S IT!Besides the low quality eggs, something must have gone very wrong in the process. We don’t know whether it was the donor, the lab, the retrieval process, or whatever. We can never find out.At the second ultrasound that confirmed the embryo didn’t make it, Dr Ryan showed no empathy, only said “unfortunately it didn’t grow.”I don’t know if the outcome would have been different with another doctor at PFC. It is a boutique clinic, quick to take your money, and offers no guarantee or empathy. PFC does not care about the patients - not if they become parents. Every one is just a number under their standard procedure. There is a lot of other fertility services in the Bay Area, try them too. At least get a second opinion. We are done with PFC.
This review is long overdue. My husband and I received treatment with Dr. Li. She was wonderful! We went through two rounds of IVF. I’m 44 yrs old, we began our egg retrieval process when I was 43. Most fertility clinics would strongly recommend using donor eggs at my age, but Dr. Li never pressured me. She encouraged that I try with my own eggs. Thank god I did, we were able to get 2 Euploid embryos out of our 2 Egg retrievals. We transferred our 1st embryo last July, and I had BIG10 lb baby boy the end of March! We received incredible care the entire time we were there. All of the nurses, medical staff, and all of the doctors were always so kind, knowledgeable and caring. I’m looking forward to transferring our 2nd embryo with Dr. Li next year. I am so grateful for this clinic and its staff! Highly recommend!!
Avoid at all costs. Front desk is disorganized and not helpful. The doctor I saw was fine but kind of cold. Theyre not transparent about costs. At my first consultation, I remember being told that genetic testing would not be something I’d be charged for only to be charge for it a few months later. Exam rooms could definitely be cleaner too.The final straw though was when my husband called to make an appointment. We started asking some questions about how things would be charged and what costs were involved while we were on the phone and the person we were talking to hung up on us in the middle of our conversation and never tried to call us back.
The best experience! Dr. Ryan heard all my concerns and questions. She explained everything so well I would recommend Dr. Ryan to everyone. She is the best.
I sent a message to this fertility clinic, asking if they would give me the success rates for my age and a cost sheet for their IVF. Their assistant declined to give me the information and asked me to make a paid appointment with the physician to get this basic information. When I pressed again, she referred me to the videos on their website. Never deal with the clinic that will not give you basic information about their success or their cost. There is a reason why this clinic is not rated very highly.
We had our initial consultation with Dr. Li and it was great. She made us feel comfortable and hopeful for the next steps in our journey to family planning. We have been to multiple fertility centers the past seven years and the most important thing for us is comfortability and feeling welcomed by the staff. So far, our interaction with Pacific Fertility Center and Dr. Li and her team has been great.
My experience with PFC has been a very challenging one and it is directly related to the finanical team. To preface this, I am a Nurse Practitioner and consider myself knowledgable about insurance processes. This clinic recently started accepting insurance and they are still not familiar with the insurance process which led to a lot of distress during my time with them. My journey with PFC started ~1 year ago in which I verified insurance coverage with my financial coordinator before starting the process with PFC. I notified my coordinator that I have primary and secondary insurance to which she said my egg freezing will be covered using both. Well, she was completely wrong. She provided inaccurate information followed by poor communication (really, no communication at all) which led to frustration and time delays. Not to mention she left for maternity leave and no one notified me that she left so there were MONTHS of no communication from the clinic. I also want to note that their billing/insurance team is not in-house so when you call the clinic, it is rare you can reach anyone to discuss billing/insurance issues. I once called to be connected to a financial coordinator but none were working that day (it was a week day around 1pm).Fast forward a year, I was left advocating for myself and still find myself with extra bills coming in that my insurance company cannot even justify. My insurance company has told me that when they call PFC, they rarely hear back from them. PFCs messaging portal is useless and your messages will go left unanswered. I have been waiting on an itemized ledger of these unexplainable bills for weeks.Overall, the clinical care was great but I would not go through the turmoil caused by the billing/insurance team again. I recommend finding another clinic that is more seasoned in financial coordination if you are using insurance and not paying out-of-pocket.
I have been using PFC for fertility and the doctors and the treatment went well however, their coordinators and financial coordinators have such a high turn over that there were times my cycles were missed because there was no proper turn over of my cases. I had to call constantly for updates and follow ups on my next steps. There were so many times where I was waiting for next step updates but was left hanging because I would find out the coordinator quite. They do take insurance but because they require everything prepayment upfront I have caught all of my treatment cycles overcharged where they will never let you know if you are owed anything back. How they deal with billing is a huge red flag where is fraud and abuse due to lack of knowledge and understanding of how billing is actually being mishandled by their third party billing center. I have recouped over thousands of dollars but I feel most if not all PFC patients will never know how they are probably being overcharged.
This review is specifically for Tulsi, who is the most wonderful and caring nurse practitioner I have ever met. She was incredibly kind and gentle through the entire IVF retrieval process, and supportive through every second of that very difficult day. I have a tough time typically with blood draws and IVs and she was so patient and such a pro, I was in very little pain. And then afterwards she was incredibly attentive to my recovery from the retrieval, balancing pain meds and other factors like nausea so well. I’m so lucky to have met her and I can’t say enough about how amazing she is!
We absolutely love PFC. My husband and I received amazing care here. From beginning to end it was exactly what it needed to be. We never felt like just a number. The staff are attentive and responsive and know what they’re doing. We had to travel 3+ hours from where we live for our appointments and they always did a great job scheduling and accommodating us. I can’t say enough good things about them. We’ll be going back.
My partner and I had an initial Zoom consultation with Dr. Liyun Li of Pacific Fertility Center in November 2020. While we decided not to use their services, I was satisfied with our interaction and assumed that was the end of it.However, almost two and a half years later, in late April 2023, I received a bill from Pacific Fertility for $375 demanding payment within 25 days. This is outrageous and unacceptable. We had conversations with many fertility groups during our search for a provider, and not one of them charged us for a consultation. A fee was never mentioned by PFC before, during, or after for this call. Its disappointing to see that Pacific Fertility would charge for a service that other providers offer for free, and then send us a bill almost two and a half years later.I cannot recommend Pacific Fertility to anyone based on my experience. If you are looking for a fertility provider, I suggest you look elsewhere. The lack of transparency and professionalism exhibited by Pacific Fertility is concerning and indicative of larger issues within their organization. It is clear that they are more interested in squeezing every penny out of their potential clients than providing quality care.
Just had a consultation only. I was told the fee for consultation will be $375, however since they knew that I had insurance they billed my insurance $1000. I was never told about the different pricing for insurance and self pay. They eventually charged $ 600 something and then my share is $ 340, and Im told by the financial coordinator that Im still paying less, a whole $ 35 less for having insurance. I will not be going with Pacific fertility due to their business practice. My insurance covers half but sounds like their rates for the insurance are three times more so I might end up paying just as much as self pay. So in the end theyre just making money off of you having insurance.
Stay away: Prudent Consideration of Alternative Options for Egg FreezingIt is imperative that I share a detailed account of my experience with egg freezing at this facility, with the sincere intention of guiding others to exercise discernment and explore alternative avenues. The following factual information provides an objective perspective on my journey:- Limited to No Doctor Involvement: Throughout the duration of my egg freezing process, substantive engagement with the attending physician was notably lacking and more so none existence. Despite my repeated requests, consultations were primarily facilitated by nursing staff, resulting in a palpable absence of personalized medical attention.- Misleading Claims, Lack of Consistency: Assurances were repeatedly extended to me, insinuating consistent doctor participation in my care. However, upon subsequent investigation, it became evident that the doctors presence was infrequent during critical stages of treatment. The discrepancy between expectations and reality cast doubt on the transparency and reliability of the information conveyed.- Communication Gaps and Time Constraints: I observed notable deficiencies in the comprehensive communication of instructions pertaining to my egg freezing protocol. Adequate time for discussion and clarification was often limited, leaving me feeling rushed and potentially compromising my understanding of the process.- Emphasis on Financial Considerations: Regrettably, a discernible focus on financial matters overshadowed the cultivation of a patient-centered environment. The standard of bedside manner exhibited by the staff fell short of fostering the compassionate and empathetic atmosphere essential for such a delicate journey.- Streamlined Efficiency vs. Individual Attention: The operational approach at this facility appeared to prioritize streamlined efficiency, resulting in interactions that conveyed a sense of expediency. From the initial encounter with the reception desk to interactions with nursing management, there was a pervasive inclination to expedite patient turnover.- Limited/Non Existence Direct Physician Engagement: Opportunities for direct doctor-patient interaction were markedly limited throughout my experience, impeding the establishment of a robust doctor-patient relationship. This aspect raises valid concerns about the extent of individualized care provided during the course of treatment. I only saw the doctor assigned to me ONCE towards the end of my journey. In fairness, it is important to acknowledge a positive aspect amid these challenges. The operating room staff demonstrated commendable professionalism, displaying genuine care and concern during the day of the procedure.Nevertheless, it is incumbent upon individuals to exercise prudence when considering this facility. A comprehensive evaluation encompassing professionalism, transparency, and patient-centric care is crucial before making a decision that impacts ones reproductive journey.May this review serve as a reminder to conduct thorough due diligence, and explore alternative options that align more closely with your expectations and desired standard of care. All in all I do not recommend this facility.
Dr. Chenette, Dr. Agard and the team at Pacific Fertility Center fulfilled our dream to have not one, but two healthy babies who are 2 weeks old as I write this message. Not only did the team help us get pregnant, but they did so in a caring, encouraging and hopeful way.Dr. Chenette knows what he’s doing, from the initial screenings, adapting the fertility treatment as new results came. We tried in Germany, Turkey, Las Vegas without success in the last 4 years. When we researched Dr. Chennette and the PCF center and met him for the first appointment we knew we were in the right hands. He was so kind, inquisitive and caring. Every time I had an appointment, I was greeted with kindness by all the staff and taken care of punctually by the team. The ultrasound appointments were a joy as well, and the staff celebrated with us when the embryos pass all their stages. I still remember when they brought the embryos in their hi-tech containers - the care and delicate way they handled them during the insemination. Magical. So grateful to have had the luck to meet you all!Thank you so much for all you did. Highly recommend PCF.Sent from my iPad
Came in with my wife and had a great experience with the entire staff, huge thank you to front desk workers for being so helpful and kind!
This review is long overdue and its for Dr. Carolyn Givens and the amazing staff at Pacific Fertility Center. Weve been on our IVF journey for many years and Dr. Givens & Team have been there for us every step of the way. We just passed our 1st trimester and hope to have a new addition to the family soon. PFC is amazing!! They definitely know what theyre doing, very responsive, efficient, caring, personable, compassionate, understanding into guiding you into success. If you want a one-stop place that will give you personalize, individualized white glove care and attention then look no further then PFC. Thank you PFC from the bottoms of our hearts for everything youve done for us. - Haley
This facility is useless if you need to go through a surrogate and donor egg. They will leave you alone to dry. Their donor bank choices are limited, and they dont work with surrogate agencies. They only send you a list of third-party agencies and leave you alone. They hardly guide you properly or follow up with you. They barely show care or empathy, and their staff is very disorganized. You are basically on your own to navigate your journey. It feels that we just wasted our time with this facility.
I echo everyones sentiments regarding the clinics notoriously bad customer service. Their app is garbage and full of bugs, but they will continue to direct you there. They really are after your money and dont care about you. The doctor is fine, but youll have to put up with the staff who seem OK at first but are incompetent. I would say spend your money elsewhere and save yourself the headache.
I give one star for different reasons. They have good doctors and secretaries but working with coordinators are difficult. It isnt a system walk you through a whole process and support you, you need to deal with each department separately. If there is a lack of communication between departments then you will pay by your time and you need to call and follow up day to day. Their emotional support system and empathy not high and you are by yourself. I guess their egg freezing isnt good as other part. If you are over 40 probably freezing eggs here wont give you anything and eggs will die after thawing. They are better in making embryos from fresh cycle but as I said it is a long marathon between departments to fix things and move the process forward.
We had a great experience with Dr. Givens and PFC. They were professional and warm, the offices are beautiful and easy to get to. We had one unsuccessful round of IVF and they were very comforting and a successful pregnancy and delivery. I definitely recommend them!
Dr. Ryan has been my doctor for almost a year at PFC and I cannot say enough great things about her. Shes been a pleasure to speak with from our initial conversation and the many others that followed. She is very knowledgeable and definitely takes the time to listen and answer all of my questions. From when I first started seeing her I shared with her my hesitation doing IVF due to my severe allergic reactions to meds. I was impressed that she listened to my concerns and also did research and talked to other doctors in the profession, to determine the best treatment for me. She is very supportive, nurturing and cares about her patients and wants them to have the most successful outcome. I definitely trust Dr. Ryan and am looking forward to her being my doctor as we continue on our IVF journey. I also want to give a shout out to the Ryan Care Team b/c this team is FANTASTIC! Everyone that is on Dr. Ryans team is amazing and its always nice to see them in the office during my check ups. Cloe, Marissa, Sue, Sabrina, Doris and many others are so sweet and definitely go the extra mile to make sure all your needs and questions are getting addressed. I highly recommend PFC and having Dr. Ryan as your main doctor!
I underwent egg freezing and had a very positive experience with PFC. I was really nervous about the whole process but they walked me through all of my concerns. I do think the nurses do a better job than the doctors at spending time and discussing my anxieties...but at the end of the day I just needed the doctors to do a good job at the egg retrieval- the nurses can do the rest! Sometimes I felt like the doctors were in a hurry to get to the next patient but the nurses would chat with me as long as I needed.PFC offers an injection class that my partner and I attended which walks you through, in great detail, what giving yourself the injections will be like and how to mix the medicines. Giving yourself injections can be really scary so this extra class really helped me feel better.I ended up getting a great amount of eggs through my procedure and everyone was kind and caring. I would definitely recommend them. Its not a cake walk, but they help make it less of a daunting process.
Dr. Ryan and the team are great. She shows genuine concern and interest in her patients and I have only had great experiences.Cannot recommend her enough!
I didt like the first consultation at the PFC. Doctor didnt check my history,. I didt get any guidance of future steps; no particular information was given.I went to Palm Beach Fertility Center and it is the way much better! Absolutely different experience. I regret I went to PFC
Communication within the organization is not great, and communication with Pacific fertility vendors was horrendous. For example, testing that ought to have been done before going forward could have saved my partner a lot of heartache, and it would have saved both of us 6 months of wasted resources. Pacific Fertility and their vendors require more robust interface, protocols, and communication.
This clinic and staff have been amazing to work with. All the nurses/techs and coordinators made sure I was always comfortable and were there to answer questions any time I needed. I was glad that I traveled out of state to use this clinic.
I have always had a great experience with PFC and Dr. Ryan. We are starting the journey for Baby #2 with our frozen embryos and again they are making the experience as easy and comfortable as possible.
Dr. Givens made me feel comfortable during the embryo transfer. She told me everything that was going to happen, before it happened. They were prompt an on time. No complaints here!
Dr. Li is awesome! She’s patient and knowledgeable. I got all the information I needed from the conversation and feel more confident about this journey!
Completely unprofessional. I scheduled a call over 3 weeks ago to get information and the doctor NEVER called.I call the office. The receptionist Carolina said she left 2 voicemails and sent an email trying to reschedule.I check my voicemail... NOTHING.I check my email... NOTHING. The only email I had from them was for missing forms.I spent 3 weeks waiting and at least an hour filling out forms. They have no respect for your time. Do not go here.
Dr Chennette & his team provide a customer centric experience. The support and guidance we received set them apart from other fertility practices we engaged with prior. I would highly recommend PFC.
Dr. Ryan makes me feel comfortable because she always tells me what shes doing and why. She always has time for my questions and seems happy to answer them. I love working with her!
A woman whose frozen eggs were stored at the Pacific Fertility Center has filed a class-action lawsuit in federal court in San Francisco, accusing the company of gross negligence in its maintenance, inspection and monitoring of a storage freezer that malfunctioned in early March.Pacific Fertility is one of two centers that separately reported problems in liquid-nitrogen tanks where thousands of eggs and embryos were kept. Officials at both facilities have acknowledged that some — or potentially all — of the tissue may have been damaged.
I got a lot of eggs from my one egg retrieval, but I also got ovarian hyper stimulation syndrome, an avoidable condition caused by hormone overdose. Would recommend the clinic in Denver that everyone who can afford the flights is going to instead.
Dr.Chennette and his team are nice/friendly staff.I would definitely recommend to my friends good job and more power on Pacific Fertility Center!
The staff that work there are horrible. They are very mean, rude, and unprofessional. All the practice after is your money!
Wanted to become egg donor didnt get picked very healthy and mixed race green eyes dont know why is it because of my religion that is why they did not pick me?
Horrible place would not go back even if the u paid me if you are looking for a place to grow your family I would go somewhere else where they care about you
Detailed and took the time to explain things to us. Answered all questions thoroughly
It’s efficient and staff are readily available for assistance.
Extremely friendly and informative!
Great experience!
