I’ve had both of my children here and it was such a great experience every time. I feel like I’ve never had such thorough testing and labs as I had while pregnant—much better than any doctor’s office experience I’ve had. Additionally, each appointment I had never felt rushed and the midwives and nurses educated me on everything they were doing. The environment and staff are so supportive and wonderful. From Christine and Tiffany at the front to the midwives and nurses…I can’t say enough wonderful things about this practice. Highly recommend!
Best place hands down. I enjoyed my experience with them from the time i first called to schedule an appointment until i went in for labor later on through the months. Everything i wanted to happen for my natural birth happened my way and the way i planned. My voice was heard, i was given alternatives to anything i didnt agree with. The support of the midwifes at this location was 10/10. I had a very memorable experience during my birth one that i would never forget! & if i want to i would do it all over again. Everything was perfect. If your second guessing yourself about trying something new go for it, it could very much change your perspective towards things & your life! Big shoutout to Stacie and Sherry on the delivery to my daughter on 8-20-22.
I transferred into Savannah Birthing Center in my third trimester after moving across the country. I had done a lot of research on holistic providers in the area and was really excited to become a patient here.At my first prenatal appointment, I sat in the waiting room as my midwife complained loudly to the receptionist that I had not completed any of my intake forms and it would set her behind for the day. It was absolutely humiliating to listen to a medical professional complain to their team about me. Upon discovering that my name was spelled wrong and they were sent to the wrong email, she did not apologize or acknowledge that it was not my fault that these forms hadn’t been completed. At the beginning of the same appointment, I explained that I had a history of disordered eating and was not comfortable being weighed. I had not been weighed in 3+ years, therefore I had no pre-pregnancy weight to compare my current weight to. The midwife said she absolutely HAD to weigh me, but would hide my weight. After she weighed me, she promptly turned the computer screen towards me so I could see my weight. Devastating. This entire appointment start to finish was horrible. I got only a handful of words in the entire time. She talked endlessly about how overwhelmed she was about their new charting system and opened a can of soda halfway through my appointment. It felt extremely unprofessional and uncomfortable.I ultimately left the practice when the midwife received extremely sensitive test results I had been waiting on and did not update me about them for over a week. I called and emailed several days in a row and was dismissed. When she finally emailed me to let me know the outcome of the test results, she noted that I had access to the same test results and could read them myself, as if I am a qualified medical professional and could have possibly understood what they meant or how to interpret the implications of the results.I would not return to Savannah Birth Center at any point. I have not had such an uncomfortable and unprofessional appointment in my entire pregnancy and would not return to a practice where such little regard was held for my health and my baby’s health.
Today is the 15 anniversary of giving birth to my son at the birthing center! I received impeccable care, education and support!!! I cannot recommend them enough for a safe, stress free, healthy, non invasive birth journey!!! All these years later, I honor them for all they did to bless me and the birth of my son.
Make sure you do not do their prepayment plan. They will make it sound like you have to do it and that it is a good idea but you won’t see that money again if they refer you out. I was referred to the high risk OB at the end of my pregnancy after having Covid. I delivered at Memorial hospital. I called the midwife group for months to be refunded the amount I prepaid to deliver at their facility. They either told me that the lady that takes care of those financial matters was busy or disconnected our call. Finally I got on the phone with the right person and they said they would send me a check in mail. I received a $500 check with no kind of receipt saying why I was refunded less than half of what they owed me. I could have really used that money towards my child’s actual delivery but I definitely learned my lesson to never prepay for anything.
Brought my wife in to have her third child done through here we were doing the New orientation had an appointment on Sunday at 2 o’clock. We arrived at 1:45. A lady answered the door and said she was not aware of an appointment and said that they will no longer be excepting people for the rest of the year, no one ever said anything about that. She said oh I am so sorry. Hope you can find somewhere new. Our other two children were delivered by this place before they took new ownership. I would not recommend a place that changes their mind at the last minute.
I called for screening first question was what my weight was, I told her, and her response was your BMI is too high we wont accept you I asked her what If I got her proof I was a low risk which I can do because I am. She said doesnt matter your bmi is too high. Lets get some updated information like that bmi has nothing to do with loe or high risk. Thinking a dodged a bullet. I am DISGUSTED. This is no way to treat anyone. They should be ashamed of themselves.
We are very thankful to have found the birth center. the midwives, nurses, and office staff have shown us nothing but kindness throughout pregnancy and postpartum care. unfortunately i was not able to deliver at the birth center, but one of the midwives came to visit and check in on us all at the hospital and we will never forget that. everyone here truly cares for you and your family. we are so happy with our experience here!!
I didnt get to have my baby at the birth center which was so disappointing however I trusted the midwives 100 percent in their decision on how to bring my baby in as safe as possible. I felt extremely prepared for the hospital birth that I ended up with and the Midwives were still an amazing part of my pregnancy journey! Their support really empowered me and I think their partnership with memorial really helped me to have a positive birth experience. I enjoyed attending the birth classes and without them I would not have found pediatrician and Lactation consultant I encourage people I know to have a midwife if there is one in their area. If I had to do it all over I would still choose the birth center.
I changed my care to the midwife group at 30 weeks pregnant. It was the best decision I made! They listen and go in depth what to expect from the natural birthing process. My partner and I took their birthing class via zoom, and it was very helpful. I finally had my first child at 41 weeks +5, it was very long, and unfortunately after failing to progress at 8 cm, I was transferred to the hospital. Even though it wasn’t the outcome I had hoped for, I trusted them to do what’s best for my child and I. He was perfect and I had no problems post-partum. I still see them for all my ob/gyn needs. Such an Amazing place with wonderful, attentive, and supportive medical professionals.
I can’t rave enough about the care I was provided. They were there for me through every inevitable high and low of a first time pregnancy. They were always there to reach out to and no question ever felt too silly to ask. They made me feel safe, heard and cared for every step of the way. I felt like family and got to build a connection with everyone at the practice. Do yourself a favor and go to the Midwife Group! All I can say is I am so thankful to them and all they did for me. Call it the pregnancy hormones but I’m even getting teary eyed writing this thinking about how truly thankful I am to them.
I started my care at the group very late in my pregnancy (35 wks) It wasn’t my intention to see a midwife or deliver in a birth center naturally, it just happened to be where Tricare referred me out to. My pregnancy experience was nothing short of amazing and overall empowering. I will continue to trust this midwife group with my general wellness in the years to come.
WOW! Where do I even start! We absolutely loved our experience here at the birth center. It exceeded our expectations and more. During all of my prenatal care and labor process, we were treated like family. These wonderful ladies genuinely care about you and your baby.We went into the tour ignorant about what a midwife or birthing center was. Both my husband and I were expecting to have a usual hospital birth as thats all weve ever known. We went into the tour and loved it and decided to give it a try. The place is beautiful! It has a very homey feel in the delivery rooms. Giant bed that both you and your significant other can share, huge tub, kitchenette, and bathroom in each room. They also have a beautiful walking trail around the building which came in handy during labor.I was very scared of having our daughter naturally and had no clue what to expect as this was both of our firsts. We were lucky and got to have four different midwifes help deliver our baby. We started with Sherry and Kristen in the beginning then had Kristen, Rita, and Heidi. If it wasnt for each of these amazing ladies, I would have never been able to do it. They coached me and made me feel as comfortable as possible. I had a 9lb 21in beautiful & healthy baby girl naturally thanks to them! I cannot express how wonderful the staff is. If youre having doubts, go on the tour and you will see for yourself how amazing they really are. I wish I could give more stars! Thank you all for giving our family the most amazing and beautiful birth of our daughter. We couldnt be anymore thankful :)
I have never felt more cared for, heard, and known by medical professionals than I have here. From the very first appointment to the postpartum follow ups, we experienced nothing but professionalism, expertise, wisdom, patience, joy, and love. Really, all the things you want to experience when trusting someone with not only your own life, but the life of your child. And that is how I felt. Complete trust. I labored for 40 hours, a lot which was active - so I got to have many of the midwives and nurses from a few rotations. I ended up having Stephanie and Heidi for my last set and delivery. I am just so thankful. When I thought I wanted to quit and go to the hospital they believed in me to keep going (which is what I actually wanted.) They gave the exact tips and tricks I needed at the exact time. Because of these ladies, I am grateful I have beautiful memories of my first born child. They truly blessed me.Everyone here is amazing, including the front desk staff! I wish everyone would get to experience the midwife group and birth center! (But not really because I want them all to myself 😉)
I love the midwives and staff at the birth center!! The experience from the beginning of my pregnancy until my baby was delivered was amazing. Going there felt like visiting friends, everyone is so cheerful and nice. I knew the midwives cared about me and my baby and wanted me to be informed and make the decisions regarding birth. I had to go to the hospital because of an early labor but Nancy was able to deliver my sweet boy and help make sure my decisions were listened to. While I was at the hospital everyday one of the midwives came to check on us! I hope my next one can be delivered at the center. I love them so much!!
Five star recommendation!! I would give it 10 if I could! If you are at all considering a natural childbirth, this is the place for you! Even if you havent considered a natural childbirth, give them a call, take the tour, and learn about what a true gift a freestanding birth center is to this community. My husband and I recently had our daughter at the Birth Center and it was an amazing experience on so many levels. We received all of our prenatal care at the Birth Center and participated in their Prenatal Care Plus program. The education we received was extremely comprehensive, well-organized, and helped us feel prepared for this major life event. The staff is incredibly knowledgeable, professional, caring and kind. If you have any misconceptions that the care you would receive from a midwife would not be as good as that from an OB, think again. These women are top notch! They are extremely dedicated to the practice of taking care of women and helping them to give birth in the way that they need and want to. I never felt rushed at any of my appointments and I always felt listened to and respected. As an older mom (41), I never felt the pressures of being maternally geriatric. When I had concerns over additional testing and when I was 10 days overdue, the midwives were very helpful in communicating what was important to me to the supervising OB and working out a plan that was safe for the baby, safe for me and required as little intervention as possible. My labor was long and hard and I felt like the whole birth team was rooting for me and pulling out every imaginable resource to try and help me deliver in the way that I wanted to. I am so grateful to all of these women, particularly Jill, for believing in me and for showing our family so much love. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
An absolutely wonderful experience from the moment I switched over to their care! Every single person in the office is warm, friendly and welcoming. I was given FACTUAL information at my prenatal visits and *I* was able to make decisions about *MY* care based on facts, not recommendations. They didnt try to persuade me in any particular direction on ANY decisions to be made and were so supportive and helpful throughout. My birth did not go as I had envisioned (it never does does it?!) But all of the midwives were incredibly helpful and read my body language amazingly well and knew when to wait quietly, hands off and when to jump in and offer support... I didnt have to ask for a single thing. My daughter was welcomed into this world so calmly by such loving hands that she didnt even cry. She was allowed to rest with me comfortably and nurse for hours. We werent bombarded with unnecessary tests, vaccines or overwhelmingly monitered like I was in hospital previously. We were able to just be...mother and new baby soaking each other in,in private,in peace and in quiet.I couldnt have imagined a better support team for my baby and I. I am still so very happy to have had the opportunity to birth here! Thanks ladies for all of your hard work and compassion, you have rewritten my birth experience!
I’ve had BOTH my daughters in the same exact room. My youngest is almost 5 months old. I loved the one on one care that the midwives had for my baby and for me. I had great birthing experiences both times. Even had a water birth with number 2. And though my baby journey is finished, I’ll always go back for my preventative care. I owe so much the birth center for the knowledge and skills they taught while I was pregnant both times. My daughters were both big. One 10 1/2 pounds and one 9# 5oz and had a quick smooth birth and recovery BOTH times 💕
My entire experience with this group has been wonderful. I transferred from an OBGYN in order to have a water birth and the midwife group made the transition smooth and easy. This is my first baby and the midwives I had for my delivery are fantastic. Thank You so much Hannah and Pamela! If you are looking for a natural birth experience with a great support team who truly cares, this group is perfect for you.
I just had my third Birth Center baby on Saturday, and I would never want to go anywhere else for prenatal care and labor and delivery. My prenatal appointments were great. I never had to wait for long to be seen, and the midwifes always spent as much time with me as I needed. If it werent for Nancy, I probably would not have known that I had a problem with my thyroid. They helped me to get that under control, and Im so glad. Jill and Shandra attended the birth. I felt safe and confident in their care. They were both professional and encouraging and so attentive. After the baby was born, I was able to eat and rest and visit with family, while they continued to monitor my baby and me in the most non-obtrusive way. Before long, I was cleared to go home. They went over everything I needed to know to take care of myself and my new baby, and then made sure that we both got safely into the car, and then we were free to go. The Birth Center feels like another home to me. I am always treated with dignity and respect, and even love, which is important since pregnancy and labor are very vulnerable times for me. I highly recommend the Midwife Group and Birth Center. I would never want to go anywhere else.
These people had me waiting 2 weeks for an orientation appointment then after i called multiple times through the weeks, they called me AN HOUR before said appointment to tell me they weren’t doing the orientation anymore & apparently “met their quota on how many patients they were allowed to take for the year” This was ridiculous & such an untasteful experience with them.
I was originally going to Winn Army Hospital at Fort Stewart, GA, when I decided to switch to the Birth Center. A friend of mine was going there and seemed very pleased so I thought I would try it out. I absolutely fell in love. They were all extremely friendly and by the end knew you on a first name basis. I took the birthing classes as well and they were very helpful. I loved that I felt in control of my labor and decisions. I was able to labor the best way that fit me and make decisions without any backlash. I also loved that their approach was to let nature do its thing. No intervention was necessary. I delivered at 41 weeks and 3 days. If I would have been at the local hospital they would have induced me at 41 weeks. From my first contraction to my baby entering the world was 6 hours long. I firmly believe that had I been induced I would have had a completely different birth experience. If I am still in Georgia for my next baby I will definitely be going back to the Birth Center.
My husband and I signed up for the birthing class at the Midwife Group and had a wonderful experience. Jill was absolutely amazing and patient. She taught us more than just the anatomy of birth but rather the psychology of this amazing occasion. Even though I will be having our baby at a hospital I feel as if I received so much value from taking this class. The relaxed environment really helped me come to terms with the labor and delivery process. Walking in I had so much anxiety about giving birth and Jill really put my mind at ease. THANK YOU JILL!!!!
2023: Updating review to 5 stars. My daughter decided to have her baby here. We have 13 kids and this is our first grand baby. We had 2 kids with the Midwife Group in Savannah. Both went great. Wasn’t happy with our 3rd attempted birth here simply because we risked out and were left with no medical provider that would pick us up late term. I wasn’t happy per my original review below. However, we are very happy with the experience our daughter had with her prenatal care and birth experience in 2023. Rita and entire team did everything they could to keep our Daughter’s birth from having to shift to the hospital. I think their contingency planning is solid. If you live near Savannah, this is still a great option that falls between a hospital birth and a home birth. Nothing beats a home birth if you can do it but the Savannah Midwife Group is way ahead of any hospital. I tip my hat to all the midwives out there. Ya’ll are so far ahead of any Dr. we met during the few hospital births we had. Thank you!Original Review 2017:Sadly, this is not the same place anymore. After having positive experience with birthing two children here, we were pushed out at 29 weeks and told we could not give birth there with our 3rd birth in Savannah. Nothing had changed since our other two births at this facility. This is our 11th child so we have significant experience with midwives and hospital staff. Jill and Nancy (original founders) have suddenly retired after 30 years and place is now run more like a hospital. Hopefully they find their way again in the future. The management change just happened April 2017. This was a 5 star birth center under Nancy and Jill. On the positive side, the two birthing rooms are nice, and some of the original staff remain.
I gave them 2 stars because everyone is really nice & they really do try to help those that know nothing about birth. They lost me though because I felt as though my needs that I wanted was made to feel not good enough. This was my 3rd birth so I had some experience but I was belittled, right up until the point of giving birth. My contractions were 5-7 minutes apart & the midwife said she wanted them to be more consistent before we went to the midwife building. I really wanted to listen to her so I waited. 3 hours later, I called to tell her the baby was coming for sure. Contractions were never consistent for a hour but they were getting shorter. She hesitated, then while I was on the phone, my baby started to come. I delivered her in my bathroom. None of the help I was promised. My birth plan out the window, not that they cared. If the midwife would had listened to me when I first called instead of being worried about her time being wasted, maybe I would not have given birth by myself. This was my 3rd child so fast delivery was to be expected. She didn’t listen to me when I said I wanted delayed cutting of the cord. I was told it was procedure but when my baby arrived her instructions over the phone to my husband were different. The midwife did end up coming to our home that night but I was not able to get a weigh in. She forgot her thermometer to check the baby temp (luckily I had one). The next day I did not receive a phone call as I was told because they wanted me to come in Monday. I wanted to get my babies birth weight so I called & they let me come in. I haven’t returned since & they haven’t even called to check up. To be honest the experience was worse than the hospital. No support at all. I want to have 2 more children in the future & I will be returning to the hospital with a birth plan like I did my other 2 children. They actually listen at the hospital when you know what your talking about & don’t belittle you.Update: The midwife I saw the next day after my birth called 4 days after my initial review above. She was very apologetic and said she dropped the ball with a follow up for my 1 week appointment because they had a lot of births that day, which was true because when I arrived there was a family leaving and another in one of the rooms. I appreciate the phone call, the conversation of concern, & a follow up for my 6 week appointment.
My daughters birth in February of 2011 was the second time Ive used this birth center. Jill was my midwife for the second time! She is awesome. Experienced, compassionate, but very direct when needed, which is awesome when you need focus during labor!I arrived at the birth center at 3 pm just to be checked, discovered I really was going to have a baby that day, ran to get something to eat and was back and delivered my baby at 4:32 pm! Awesome experience. We snuggled and loved our new daughter and then headed home 4 hours after her birth. I could not imagine having to stay in a hospital after delivering a baby. As comfortable and quiet as the birth center is, I wanted to be in my own home, so I couldnt even imagine a busy, noisy hospital with a small bed.It doesnt hurt just to check the center out. Its an option available that every woman should be aware of. They have an open house once a month that is a brief overview of their services. My husband is probably a bigger advocate of the birth center than I am! He is so happy that I made him take a tour when I was 4 months pregnant with our son. He was skeptical at first because it looks nothing like a standard medical facility that society has made us believe is necessary for birth. Birth is not an illness. Unless there are complications, normal birth does not need to be in a hospital.
The midwives there are truly the most talented and devoted caregivers ever. Two of our boys were birthed with midwife assistance and they offer the best services/care available. The facility is clean, fully prepared for all birthing needs and filled with love. We felt safe and heard throughout our pregnancies and births. I pray that they are always able to continue offering services to women in our area💙
I transferred my prenatal care to the Midwife Group around 30 weeks. Although I was well into my pregnancy, they went above and beyond to provide me the best care and make sure I was knowledgeable about labor and delivery. My birth experience with them was incredible and the care I received blew me (and my husband) away! The midwives are more than health care providers. They coach and cheer and support you all the way! I can’t speak for general GYN care yet, but I am switching my OBGYN care to the Midwife Group because of how wonderful my experience with them has been so far!
I loved my experience! I always felt fully informed and comfortable every step of the way. I never felt pressured. They always made sure I knew exactly what was happening before asking for my consent to do anything. The birth experience was awesome!! Cheryl was soothing and made me comfortable. I had issues with getting him out and she tried everything she could so I could avoid being cut while making sure my baby was okay the whole time. I am so thankful for this because we finally were able to get him out without getting cut! That would not have happened at a hospital. I wouldnt change a thing about my experience....well except the pain of the contractions but thats unavoidable! Lol. I would recommend them to anyone and when I can convince myself to get pregnant again, I will definitely be going back!!!
When choosing between a hospital and birthing center delivery, these were the things I wanted: To have the baby naturally, the baby stay with me in the room, and we wanted to refuse/delay vaccines. When taking the tour at the birthing center I was pretty much sold by the rooms they had- nice shower, hot tub, queen size bed, etc. Jill and Heidi were very competent and great coaches through labor. Being my first child, I didnt know what to expect labor to be like, and they had great tips for helping me through it- positioning, water, heat, etc. I didnt have a specific birth plan although I liked the idea of a water delivery and let Jill guide me with her expertise. When I got to the birthing center I was already 7 cm so I spent some time in the shower before delivering in the tub- and it only took 4 more hours for the baby to come out since arriving. We also went home the same day- which we were comfortable with.
I delivered my last child here and had the best birthing experience I could have asked for. All the midwives are nothing short of amazing, the facility is always clean, and I love that they offer water births which is what Ive always wanted. They even made sure my husband felt involved and comfortable from labor to birth.
This place helped me get through the birth of my first child ! Being a first time mommy , & also the thought of having natural birth could be scary ; but this place helped me to be confident in my birthing experience. Water birth was amazing ! And after a 9 hour labor my baby boy made his appearance, will definitely be back for future pregnancies. Thanks to the whole team for making my journey a great one .
I dont know where to begin! Our experience having our first baby at the Birth Center was absolutely amazing. From the minute I found out I was pregnant to now with their wonderful follow-up care, this practice has gone above and beyond my expectations in so many ways. Not only did the midwives provide excellent medical care throughout my pregnancy, they also provided so much education that I feel a traditional OBGYN would not have, all in a home-away-from-home environment with compassionate, family-centered care. My son was born 10 days after his due date, but the midwives were so supportive, patient, resourceful and thorough in their care. I feel certain that I wouldve been induced had I gone the traditional OB route. My pregnancy was very smooth, my labor and delivery went smoothly and quickly, and I was able to deliver our completely healthy baby boy in a safe, calm environment, not being micromanaged by medical staff, just the way my husband and I had envisioned it.
From the moment I first went to the birth center I was listened to and my thoughts and feelings about my pregnancy were listened to. Although I didnt have many questions or concerns it being baby number three for me, there were certain experiences related to hospital births that I really wanted to avoid. These were always listened to, valued and I was encouraged through them. I guess even though they did this, I still was skeptical about the difference I would see between my hospital births from my oldest two and the birth center. Yesterday I gave birth to a beautiful baby boy and the experience was Amazing. I really dont know how to describe the experience, But I can say that it was the most wonderful birth experience and I could have never have dreamed I would have felt so blessed, amazed, empowered, and so much more. Rita and Maureen were compassionate and strong with me. If you are debating between a birth center and a hospital birth, debate no more. There really is no comparison and I promise you wont regret having the midwife group and birth center in your corner.
I received such a great experience at the midwife group. ALL of the midwives are absolutely amazing and prepare you for what’s ahead. My on-call midwife was Melissa and she was so patient and caring throughout my delivery, she kept encouraging me throughout the process. If you’re looking for a birthing center you can trust, you can definitely start here. Thanks for all that you guys do!!!
An amazing experience! I began using them for well woman care about 2 years before I got pregnant. I knew as soon as we found out we were pregnant, this was the place I wanted to birth my child(ren). The midwives, nurses, and staff are all amazing! They will gladly answer any questions you have over the phone (if possible) and will not hesitate to have you come in if you have any concerns. The prenatal classes were very informative and cover everything - nutrition/exercise, labor/delivery, newborn care, postpartum care and breastfeeding. I am continuing my well woman care with them and cant wait to use them again for all my future children! I recommend them to all the pregnant women I know or meet. They truly feel like a part of the family.!
My experience at the birth center was amazing and I have so many fond memories of my sons birth. He was my first baby and born while my husband was deployed in Iraq. The staff worked for several weeks to ensure that equipment and software was working so that my husband could see the birth via live video. Jill and Heidi were so supportive during labor and I found it hard to find someone I could trust as much for my second baby since we now live four hours away from the birth center. My husband and I always joke that we hope the birth center builds a place that out-of-town families can stay close to their due dates so that they can still deliver at the birth center!
I moved to Savannah and they took me in at 30 weeks. They were extremely knowledgeable and suggested some great holistic techniques to prepare for labor and delivery. My labor experience was amazing!! I was free to walk around and move during labor. I went from the shower, to the bed, and then made laps around the building. It was great! I was NOT confined to a hospital bed AND the midwives gave us as much privacy as we wanted. They werent in the room the whole time, but they were right around the corner if/when I needed them.ABSOLUTELY AMAZING EXPERIENCE!! I recommend it to anyone and everyone!!
Best place to have a baby in the area. I had care for 7 pregnancies at the birth center. I have such positive birth memories from the midwives. Rita, Shelia, Heidi and Nancy. I am so glad that I got my care there. I had a difficult birth with one and the trained midwives were able to help me. All my births were hard for me but I am so happy that I went to the birth center. Thank you so much for giving me and my babies such awesome care! 💟
Had my 1st baby here and I received excellent care throughout my pregnancy and delivery. They do prenatal class, they got queen size bed and a huge tub for water birth.A very welcoming place as you enter youll see a bulletin of babies due dates and a letters from patients. Very friendly and professional staffs.it was a great experience!I would love to have my next baby here again.definitely recommended.
Every visit with them was a dream come true. They truly care about their patients and do everything they can to make it a positive experience. I was able to achieve my dream birth with them. I highly recommend it truly was a life changing experience. So thankful for all the wonderful midwives at this practice!
My husband and I just welcomed our first child into the world thanks to the help of the Midwife Group and Birth Center. We could not have dreamed of or hoped for a better birth experience! From prenatal care to delivery to post partum care, everyone at the birth center treated us with love and respect. The midwives, nurses, and staff are truly passionate about their jobs and helping mothers bring their babies into the world safely, gently, and with dignity. I am so grateful for the midwife and nurse that assisted with my delivery and made it a day that I will cherish forever. The birth center is very clean and comfortable and provides a relaxed, safe environment for labor and delivery.I have been telling everyone I know about the birth center and the wonderful women who work there! I wish more women had access to this kind of care and options for birth. This group is truly an asset for the area. We love our midwives!
I was terrified to birth my 3rd child at a birthing center, but so many of my friends had such amazing stories about The Midwife Group in Savannah, GA that I felt I needed to give myself the chance. The first time I walked into the Birth Center and took the tour, I cried. It was so full of Gods presence and peace. My first 2 babies were born in a hospital with all the trappings and medications and what not. They were so long and torturous that I was sure birthing naturally would be so much worse! NOT SO! They gave me herbs to help prepare my body for birthing. The actual labor was so much easier because I could do it in the comfort of my home. I could walk around unattached to wires and stuff. I could eat whatever I wanted, in fact they encouraged me to eat to keep my energy up. This was so different and wonderful! When my water finally broke in the middle of the night, Jill met me at the birth center where I delivered my beautiful boy 18 minutes later. I get emotional every time I think about it. It was just such a beautiful miracle. When I first learned I was pregnant, I was not ready for it. It was such a surprise, 7 years after my last pregnancy. I was such an emotional mess. They offered counseling because I would cry at every appointment. It was nice to talk to a professional about my fears, all in the same comfortable, peaceful building where I would birth my child. All the staff are so helpful, patient, kind, and loving. I almost wish I could have another baby just to experience that again! Thank you all so much!!
I cannot say enough good things about the Birth Center! I am so blessed to have found them and to have delivered 2 of my children there. I had my first 3 children in hospitals in Atlanta, and knew I did NOT want that again. I wish I knew about the center back then! I was drawn to the Birth Center because of the freedom and options I had during delivery, and was overwhelmed by the loving & attentive care I received during pregnancy. During your prenatal visits, you get to know all the nurses, all the midwives, so when delivery day comes, you dont get stuck with a stranger. You are in an environment and with people you have become comfortable with for 9 months. You begin a real relationship with everyone, and it becomes a fun, loving place to be.All the midwives have 20+ years experience and are so knowledgeable and competent. The first time, Rita helped deliver my daughter (10lb 11oz!) in the tub, and managed her shoulder dystocia with no trauma or problems. With my second daughter (9lb 7oz), Jill helped me with labor (birthing ball) and delivery (hands-and-knees) positions that would enlist gravity as a helper and move things along the fastest. I account it to the midwives expertise and the warm water of the tub, but I had no tearing or problems with hemorrhoids delivering 10+lbs and 9+lbs of baby, but I did after delivering my three 8+lbs babies in the hospital! I will miss all the ladies at the Birth Center so much, and am so grateful for all their help. This isnt just a job to them, this is their lifes calling!Super Cool #1:The birthing tub reduces the pain of natural childbirth tremendously VS a dry birth (remember, 10lb 11oz baby, no drugs!)Super Cool #2: Our insurance plan covered our delivery 100%! Check it out!Super Cool #3: As long as its safe, YOU are in charge during labor and delivery. You can walk, lay down, take a bath, take a shower, eat, drink, use the restroom, use the rocking chair or birthing ball, have whoever you want in the delivery room...it is your time and your day!Super Cool #4: Your baby stays with you the entire time and never leaves your sight. All cleanup, tests, etc are put on hold until baby has had at least an hour skin-on-skin bonding with you. Healthy mamas = healthy babies, so you can go home the same day! I went home 12 hours later the first time, and 8 the second.
If you are looking for comfort and family, this is the place to be! As soon as you walk in the door you feel at home. The lights are dimmed, there are beautiful babies on the wall, many thank you notes from new mamas, and a huge smile on the receptionists face :) Many would be terrified to give birth au natural, but not me! These women are absolutely AMAZING at what they do and I cannot think of better women to put my trust in to give birth to my very first son! I have no doubt in my mind that the birthing process is going to go smoothly.
I thought I would deliver at a hospital til the moment we found out we were pregnant, and then I started doing more research. We did a tour of the birth center and got to meet the midwives before deciding to choose them, which was good for me, because I learned that not only did they all have years of experience in hospitals delivering babies, but they also had medical degrees and current medical certifications. I must have thought a midwife was a hippie or something else entirely before I stepped foot in that office! But they were the most loving, knowledgable and respectful group of women that Ive met. They also offered free classes that really helped us understand what to expect during pregnancy and details on what to expect from birth and beyond.I just delivered my second baby with them and I felt comfortable that they could handle everything, but even more than that, I felt that if there was a situation they were uncomfortable with, that they would send me to the hospital. So it was a win-win situation for me both ways. Luckily, both births have been uncomplicated and I delivered at the Birth Center (I mean... its not like I want to birth babies for fun or anything, but I got them out and healthy!), and my FAVORITE thing was that the bed is big enough for my husband to lay down and sleep next to me after the baby is born. I feel that if you meet them and tour the facility, youll understand. :) Thanks to all of the midwives and nurses- if I am crazy enough to do it again, I know where Im headed.
I love this place! Everyone is so nice and friendly and they are truly passionate about what they do. I only got to have a couple of visits with them because we discovered I was having twins. They don’t see twin pregnancies unfortunately 😩. They really listen here. They take time to talk to you and reassure you instead of treating you like a number and rushing through your appointment. Heidi is such a kind and patient nurse. I know I gave her such a hard time with my labs, but she was so caring and patient that I wish I could go to her for any other blood drawing needs I could have in the future. I am so sad I have to be seen somewhere else now!
From the staff in the front to all the other ladies in the practice each and everyone makes you feel like a family member. I love the care I received. I felt safe while in their care and would use them again without a second thought. Even when my birth plan didnt go as planned my midwife was with me. I couldnt have done it without them. You have choices and are informed of all your options.
My wife recently gave birth to our first daughter on August 5th. We showed up in the middle of the night, and our midwife Amanda was more than caring and helpful for us. When my wife started pushing, Jill and Heidi were phenomenal in the birthing process. I would highly recommend this birth center to anyone expecting. Especially if youre stationed at Ft. Stewart or Hunter, switching to the birth center is more than worth it. They will never rush you or scare you while youre in labor.
I tried to deliver our first there, but had to transfer to Memorial after 40 hours. I was within minutes of having an unwanted c-section because of how long it had been. Jill stepped in and asked if I could push. I said lets go for it. Our son was born 2 hours later, without a c-section. Her commitment to natural birth and no unnecessary interventions saved me from being cut open and from a long recovery. I am back at the birth center for number 2 and very excited to work with the midwives and try for our water birth again! After having tried out 3 OBGYNs and 3 hospitals, I know that there is no better birth experience than with a midwife. They, unlike the doctors, are in the profession for the love of the women and families they support rather than the paycheck. You dont feel like cattle being herded at the birth center (while that is absolutely the case at a hospital!) and it is nice to know that their sole purpose is birth care and womens health. Their birth and pre-natal classes were very helpful as well. I would recommend the midwife group and birth center to anyone who is interested in natural birth, skeptical of typical health care, and/or wants an uplifting and positive birth experience.
They are loving, caring, knowledgeable, and professional. It really doesnt get any better than the savnnah midwife group and birth center!Update: below is a post I made on the birth center Facebook page. It really shows the difference between the birth center and traditional OB.We moved to Texas and had no choice but to see a conventional OB today for my first appointment and I just wanted to say to the ladies at the birth center I miss you!! You spoil us all and we dont know how good we actually have it! You were all so supportive through EVERYTHING and today this appointment felt more like it was about the doctor than me or my baby. I did not feel special, loved or important which was exactly the way I felt every time I was at the birth center! He even went on to say that I would need continuous monitoring (when in labor) because that is how they would know if something was wrong because he wouldnt be in the room but for maybe the last 10 minutes to catch the baby if he makes it. I went on to tell him how my entire birth team was at my side the whole time at the birth center and he was shocked and said well thats a different experience. All I had to say was Yes! Yes it was! And it was AMAZING! I know that this is all normal for a regular OB but I also know something better and it was you all! ❤️
We just had our first child at the center and it was great. The main thing that drew us to the center was the natural aspect of the labors they offered. We were unable to get a midwife to come to our house so we were willing to drive 2 hours to visit this birthing center. The staff and facilities are great! It was well worth the trip and we will defiantly be back for our next one. Thanks!
My husband and I welcomed our son into the world two and a half weeks ago at the Birth Center with the guidance of Nancy, one of their wonderful midwives. We toured Candler and Memorial hospitals early in the pregnancy, interviewed the OB Id been to for 15 years (one of the supposed best in Savannah), and took the Good Beginnings tour at the Birth Center - there was no question at which facility and with which staff we wanted to bring this precious life into this world. I felt completely respected through every checkup, class, and especially throughout the labor and delivery. I never felt coerced or compromised. My water broke had broken at home and my labor was slow to progress. I feel sure that in the hospital I would have been put on pitocin, would have had major tearing or an episiotomy, and would have been unable to manage the pain without drugs or anesthesia (or worse), but Nancy knew all the most gentle and natural tricks to get our little boy to make his way down and out of my body with minimal tearing or damage to my bottom (only three stitches!) My precious son never had to live with the effects of narcotics or anesthesia and was doing pushups and rolling over for the nurse on his third day of life at his first checkup. I had some minor postpartum complications which would have been difficult to manage with a home birth, but the Birth Center has just enough modern medicine and technology to manage these types of things. Even my mother who was there with us through the labor and delivery and is a seasoned RN with over 30 years OR experience was very impressed with how Nancy and the nurses handled me emotionally and medically. They knew just what to say and do to guide me through it all. If in doubt, just take the tour and see for yourself. If the midwifery experience is right for you, there will be no doubt that this place feels medically safe and comfortably home to you.
I love the Birth Center and always recommend it to my friends. Even though my son was born over 4 years ago, I still return there for my yearly checkups. Everyone is so nice and friendly. When I was pregnant my blood pressure started going up so the Midwives recommended the Brewers Diet for Blue Ribbon Babies. My blood pressure went down within a few days and I never had anynmore problems. I have several friends that went to normal OBs and when they started to get high blood pressure, their OBs never recommended a simple diet change and they got preeclampsia.I loved the centering appointments and being able to go through my pregnancy with other mothers going through the same things at the same time. It also made everything else a little scary and its great hearing people ask questions that you might have never thought to ask.I started out delivering my baby at the birth center and it was awesome to be able to walk around and get in the shower and eat during labor. However, my labor stopped progressing and I had to be taken to the hospital via ambulance. The midwife stayed with me in the ambulance the whole time and the whole time I was in the hospital. I know they did everything they possibly could for me to have my baby at the birth center but it just wasnt in the cards. (What can I saw, my sons been stuborn since BEFORe he was born) I hated being in the hospital because I stayed in bed and couldnt move. Labor was so much easier at the birth center. Having a midwife saved me from having a c-section and I was able to deliver my 10 lb 4 oz baby vaginally. When all was said and done I was very happy with everything and if I ever have any more children I would not hesitate for a second going back and trying to give birth at the birth center. After laboring in both places I would choose the Birth Center HANDS down!
I cant say enough about how wonderful the birthing center and midwives are! Stephanie delivered our baby girl and I had to be transferred to the hospital after she was born. Amy, the nurse, went with me and stayed by my side the entire time. They truly feel like family at this point! I highly recommend The Midwife Group!!
I just recently had my 4th daughter with the Midwife Group and just as my title reads, the birth experience belonged to me from the beginning. It was like for the first time out of all of my births I was the driver and they where the passenger kindly giving me the right directions to get to my destination without any problems. Having extensive experience with hospital, having delivered 3 of my children in them, I can truly say that this birth was a totally different and awesome experience for me. It was not just great because of the end result, my beautiful daughter. It was awesome because of the following:1) their prenatal classes are informative (I learned thing I never knew when I had my other daughters),2)their staff is professional and courteous (If it wasnt for the phone reminders sometimes I would have missed my appointments),3)the midwifes are thoughtful, compassionate, and willing to listen to you even when your concerns are trivial,4) the wait time to be seen is minimal compared to a doctors office and they spend more than five minutes looking you over if that is what you need to feel reassured everything is okay,5) During the labor they where very attentive and supportive and allowed me to progress and labor like I wanted to with minimal interference, and6) over all I received excellent care and as you can probably tell I could go on and on about how wonderful they are.In conclusion, I highly recommend them to anyone who is pregnant or even thinking of getting pregnant, or wants a change from an OB/GYN for regular checkups.
5 stars and even more! Best birth experience ever! All the midwives are so sweet and understanding and thoughtful! Couldnt have dreamt of a better place to deliver my big 10lbs baby boy! The women there are so empowering. They gave me strength to go through a natural delivery and I will always be grateful for that!
I had the most amazing, empowering, transformative water birth with my first son & when I became pregnant with my second, there was no doubt in my mind that I wanted to have him there too! The midwives & staff are awesome, the environment is very friendly, comforting & peaceful. I am now currently pregnant with my third & look forward to having yet another satisfying birth experience in the next month. (As for the comment by Kelli below: this is not a doctors office, therefore I have no idea what she is talking about.)
My husband and I found this place late in my preganacy and worked feverishly to get a spot. After much reading and research this is where and how I wanted to give birth. I’ve never liked the idea of all the wires and monitors at the hospital. From the beginning of my preganacy, I wanted it to be as natural as possible, no meds no interventions. I wanted to experience every part of the birth.I finally got my referal from my insurance (Tricare), at 34 weeks. After going to just 1 apt the front desk ladies already knew my name. I was able to see 4 out of the 5 Midwives, everyone was so friendly.I went into labor around 2am, went to the birth center at about 6:30 and had my little guy at 4:02pm.Big shout out to nurse Heidi and Midwives Stephanie and Sheryl for helping me through my delivery! It was everything I could have hoped for! The environment was perfect. We had a big room with a queen size bed, a huge tub, shower, microwave, and plenty of room to pace and get into better positions for labor. The staff above were there when we needed them, but allowed my husband and I to create our own experience. When it was time to push, they filled the tub up and in I went. I wanted a water birth from the beginning, it always seemed so much less traumatic. It was everything I ever hoped for.Stephanie placed Bryson on my chest and my husband was behind me in the tub. Bryson was awake calm and alert. We waited 9 months to meet this little guy, but it felt like an eternity, and here he finally was.Thank you again to the staff for giving me the most memorable experience I will ever have!Much Love,Jake, Lily and Bryson
I went here for both pregnancies and one delivery. Im well suited for being pregnant and for delivery so maybe Im a little biased. I always felt comfortable there. I went to the classes with both. Always great and important info. The first one refused to come out and the second came too early! Miss Nancy and Miss Jill, along with the rest of the great staff were there all the way! And yes, even at the hospital. I was very pleased with the entire experience. Thanks for bringing my Rianna and Binaka safely into the world.
I had a wonderful experience at the Birth Center throughout my pregnancy. Id like to state why I went with a natural birth. When I was about 6 weeks pregnant I went to my family doctor because I thought I had the flu. I had been told by 4 obgyns that I couldnt have children due to scarring on my ovaries from PCOS and I was on birth control pills to prevent cysts from forming, so it never even occurred to me that I might be pregnant. I was so excited! Then I had stomach pains and had to go to the ER at Candler, long story short the idiot doctor decided after looking at one ultrasound and a little bit of spotting (due to an overly rough ultrasound tech) that I was miscarrying. I didnt miscarry but if I had taken the narcotic he prescribed me, for the pain of the miscarriage he was so positive I was having (he also actually said But you werent TRYING to have a baby, right? Because I wasnt married, like that made it ok- I shouldve slapped him) I probably wouldve lost my daughter who is now 17 months old and perfect. Anyway, I was a little burnt out on doctors at that point. Lol. So I looked into my options and it turned out that medicaid, which I was on bc my employer didnt offer health insurance, covered the midwife center! We met with the midwives and clicked right away with Heidi and then my first appointment was with Jill. I absolutely loved almost every midwife I ever saw and, even though when I went into labor Id never seen the midwife on call, I had absolute trust that she was the best. And she was! Her name is Erin and she was my cheerleader, my masseuse, my calm, and I couldnt have asked for better. Now, all I see as far as reviews on here are nice, normal births or some old not-so-good stories. My birth went fast but fantastic. However, my placenta wouldnt come out and I wouldnt stop bleeding. After my midwives (by that time I had Heidi too!) tried to retrieve it manually and couldnt they made arrangements to take me to the hospital. The ambulance got there in about 10 minutes and I was in the ER in less time than it took to call my mother and tell her where I was going and the doctor was waiting for me. If they hadnt been so prepared and knowledgeable I couldve easily died, but they were completely calm and knew exactly what to do. I had them calling me in the hospital twice a day and my regular midwife, Jill, visited me several times. I never felt abandoned and, even when I ended up with a higher than preferred blood pressure towards the end of my pregnancy, they never gave up on me and my birth plan. Jill just set a diet and helped me get my blood pressure down naturally. I had a natural birth, on my own terms, ate when I wanted it, and was surrounded by love my entire labor. I cant say enough good things about The Midwife Group and Birth Center!!!!
I can write a book about how amazing my experience was at the birthing center. These ladies supported me straight through my pregnancy and birth. They become family. If you’re still thinking about if this is the place to have your baby....You can stop here. You’re in great hands.
As far as prenatal care, I was happy with the Midwife Group. When it comes to delivery, its a different story. At my 36 week appointment I was diagnosed with high blood pressure and put on bed rest. (I found out later that it this point I should have been transferred and seen by an OB GYN, but thats neither here nor there now.) They dont do a 38-39 week ultrasound to find out baby position, but if they had, they would have realized my daughter was breech and been able to either turn her or refer me to someone that would. However, both of these are just the tip of the iceberg. After a whole day of contractions, I went into the BC to find I was only 1 cm. Rita gave me an Ambien and sent me home with instructions to get some rest. After several more hours of labor, I called back and decided to go back and get checked again. I was 6 cm, so Rita broke my water and assured me our baby would be there shortly. They gave me a shot of Nubian (sp?), a powerful narcotic, on top of the Ambien I had taken 4-6 hours before. I wanted a water birth, so in the tub we went. Once it was determined I could no longer sit up on my own (remember, Ambien and Nubian), I was moved to the bed. My labor wasnt progressing because I was stalling my labor, so I was given another shot of Nubian. (So in less than 12 hours, I was given an Ambien and 2 shots of Nubian.) After laboring for about 8 hours at the BC, it was determined I was, in fact, stalling my labor and that I needed to be moved to the hospital. At this point, I was out of my mind, both because of the pain and because of the drugs, and both my husband and myself had been up all night. I had been in active labor for around 12 hours. We didnt know how to get to Candler from the BC, so they gave us a MapQuest print out and sent us on our way. (Dont let them lie to you during their classes; they wont be with you every step of the way.) Once at the hospital, Rita did come after my daughter was born via an emergency C-section. She was breech and my water was broken too early. Also, my blood pressure was dangerously high during labor. Although Rita did come and see us at the hospital, she made it seem like it was only because the other girl at the BC that night also had to go to the hospital for a C-section. After the birth, I did not receive a SINGLE phone call to check on me or my daughter. If you arent part of the natural birth club, they dont expect ANY after care. My feelings were really hurt; even our vet calls to check on the dogs after a visit. Additionally, it took me over 2 months to get my refund of monies I had paid up front for the birth and after care. All in all, I would steer clear. I never really felt the one-on-one care described by so many reviewers. Although Rita was sweet, she never remembered me from appointment to appointment, even though there was a month at the end when I was in 2-3 times a week. Jill is also sweet, but very religious and preachy. I enjoyed Holly, but my husband said she was ugly to him during my labor. If I had it to over again, I wouldnt use them. I am in the position now of needing a VBAC because they werent professionally competent at the end of my pregnancy. If you really want a peaceful, non-hospital birth, I would recommend a home birth with a CNM. If you want an AWESOME hospital birth experience, I would highly recommend Candler. My husband and I could not have been happier there.
Unfortunately I can not recommend this practice. I have had wonderful experiences with other midwifes but this practice is very disorganized and disappointing. I was with them for nearly six months of pregnancy and only had one regular check up and one ultrasound. As soon as was categorized as high risk I received different information as to whether they could see me at all again for a follow up, and waited nearly two months before I got a final answer, without any care in between. I was very hopeful to work with them and hope that at some point they will work things out.
Almost died here. Would give zero stars if I could. Sure the staff is friendly but I would go somewhere with medical professionals that are able to deal with any problems and in a timely manor. I had faith that if anything would happen I would be at a hospital. I didnt know that would be delayed and they didnt call the ambulance when they said they did. Ended up hemorrhaging 5 litters of blood and almost had a hysterectomy. Also went here so I could have baby in tub then learn when Im there to give birth that Im too tall for the tub. DO WHATS RIGHT FOR YOURE FAMILY AND GO ANYWHERE ELSE.
I have two midwife born babies and have had my well care handled here as well. I love the care both in bedside manner and medical competency I get with this group. Your care, well, prenatal, birth and after care is tailored to you, your body, your family and your wishes, no one size fits all approach in this practice!A midwife is the safest birthing approach for a healthy momma and baby, even Consumer Reports says so. Women have been having babies since the beginning of time, these women use the eons of knowledge to make your birth and well care safe and effective. These midwives rock!
First off, this is a wonderful place to go to when pregnant. However I had a bad experience with a midwife. They are all wonderful but 1. I ended having the rude one for most of my appointments and for delivery. She wasnt very patient with me, and mind you Im a first time mom. I wasnt going to mention her name but I will. Her name is Nancy. I will not got back with my second pregnancy unless she leaves. Sorry but thats my opinion.
Where do I start lol but these guys are amazing sweet and caring and I would recommend them to everybody!! I went to the midwife because this was my third child and I wanted to try somethingg different and also because Winn is so unprofessional and they just throw you around to different doctors and you would never know who is actually delivering your baby!! But I was 36 weeks when I had my first appointment with the Birth center and it went great they informed me of all the important things about my pregnancy and showed me around the building I instantly fell in love and was ready!! I had like two more appointments after that!! My contractions started 11/1/16 round three that morning and they was like 10-20 mins apart and was lite so I informed Mrs Nancy and she told me that when they get closer and stronger to call back!! Well they didnt that day they actually slowed down I was upset cuz I was so ready to deliver lol!! But anyways the next day 11/2/16 they started back that morning getting closer together and stronger so I called and Rita was on duty and she told me that she will meet me at the birth center!! My husband loaded the truck and we was on our way!! She checked my contractions and my cervix and they was 3-5 mins apart and I had done dialated 5. She than put me in my room and informed that I can walk around lay down eat drink or shower whenever I get ready and if I need anything to let her know!! I did all the above and she came in every now and than and checked my pressure and the baby heart beat!! It was going on 9:00 time for the birth center to open and a new shift Mrs Rita was leaving me and Mrs Nancy and Heidi was gone be assisting me on further!! Omg I must say I love Heidi she has a heart of gold and it just something about her that made me feel so good!! I was having a really bad contraction and its like when she touched me and talked to me while rocking my hips I just felt so good cuz I wanted to give up being that the contractions was so bad and my husband was trying his best lol!! I stayed in and out the shower which relieves the contractions they was bad but it helped a little!! I walked around a lot and rocked from side to side to get the baby further down and in the right position!! It was 11:00 that day and it was time for me to get my cervix checked again and for them to break my water and me to get in the tub to have my water birth!! I was in so much pain I was just waiting for that moment for them to tell me to push!! When Mrs Nancy started checked my cervix I was having a really bad contraction that just made me cry and thats when she said oh honey you done you can push I was so relieved I didnt even care that I didnt get a chance to get In the tub I was just ready to push!! My husband had one leg and Mrs Heidi had the other while Mrs Nancy gave the order and sat down their at the edge of the bed waiting on the baby!! I pushed and pushed!! My husband gave me some encouraging words and landing a kiss on my fourhead and told me I can do it and in five pushes my baby was here!! I was so relieved and he was so handsome and precious!! I told Mrs Heidi and Mrs Nancy that they were amazing and I love them!! Mrs Heidi was their the whole entire day hands and foot!! She will make you feel so special and whatever she told me I listened because she had won my trust that day she took my blood at my appointment the week before lol!! Sorry for the book but if you guys plan on having a water birth I highly recommend them!! You dont meet to many great places that actually care for you and have amazing staff in this world today!!
I received excellent care here throughout my pregnancy and delivery. Every staff member was professional, friendly and really cared about me and my baby. This was my first birth center experience and I would definitely choose it again!
When I had my two oldest kids, I use them. When I had my other two kids i went to them but do to me having twins i couldnt be taking care of by them but they recommend another doctor to take care of me. I love them and they take excellent care of you before, during and after the birth of your kids.
Absolutely loved my experience at the birth center. I was a late transferred and was welcomed and cared for as if I had been there my entire pregnancy. Cant imagine my birth experience being any more amazing. Love these ladies.
Best place ever. They have delivered both of my babies. What a gift it is to deliver your baby into arms of a close friend rather then a medical stranger. They gave me the gift of confidance in my own body. I love the encouragement they have given me not only in labor but during pregnancy. :)
I called for information when I found out I was pregnant. The receptionist was in a horrible mood, she almost asked me what do you want from me? I asked her if there is a better moment I can call back...I had to end the phone call and I called back in 10 minutes, another person answered that gave me the information I was asking for.I knew about this place because my friend had her baby here a year ago and sometimes I went with her to some checkups. I wanted to see my options too. I did not choose to come here at the end.Keep an eye on your front desk staff, they are the first impression. A new to be mom that asks for information should feel welcomed.
From start to finish, everyone at the Midwife Group was exceptional. The delivery went smooth and everyone was very supportive and professional through the entire process. We couldnt ask for a better midwife than Erin.Patty in billing was also incredible during a dreadful insurance nightmare. She helped us navigate things when our healthcare provider refused to cover major expenses. Eventually everything was paid, but it took several months. Patty held off billing as long as she could for us until the insurance provider finally covered everything.Theres no way to express how thankful we were for the Midwife Group. We are very sad to have moved away.
I was vary blessed to have birthed both my children at this birth center. Both pregnancies and births the stuff and midwives were very professional. I had water births with both. And if I am able to have another child I will definitely be going back.
Informative tour. A truly comforting tour of a place and people I had only heard about on tv. Seeing one in person and those who help to deliver life was something more husbands and wives need to be counseled on and shown. Beautiful rare moments to be cherished forever. These children will know life uniquely. Bravo to all involved. Thanks, Robbye Thomas
I have never met a group of ladies that are so loving and genuinely love and care about their patients. I had the privilege of having my son there and the midwife cared for me as if I was her own daughter. Amazing is an understatement to describe them.
Natural childbirth in a warm, loving environment, not a clinical experience like in a hospital. Give birth the way women have given birth from the beginning, the natural way. This place has the option of queen size beds or have a water birth in a huge tub
Be careful! The poor girl that lives down the street from me went there and ended up having a breech birth due to one of the midwives not checking when she came in in labor. She should have been sent to the hospital, but instead she was forced to push that baby out there while on no pain meds and it came out folded over frank breech (bum first). They actually didnt even figure it out until it was way too late to transfer her and everyone in the room with her said they thought the mom and baby were both going to die. Now the baby has all sorts of problems and that poor girl was literally shaking from the physical shock of it for days.Shes too sweet to say anything, but I think people should know what theyre getting into and what theyre risking. Having a natural birth is wonderful, but if you go, make sure they check the babys position the day you go into labor- her babys head is so misshapen even now, months later, despite the parents doing everything that can be done to help, that its just sad. No baby should have to suffer through everything that one has and no mother should have to labor out a frank breech baby on her own like that due to their staff!
I could write a long drawn out review about how my wife was dropped from care at 16 weeks, due to being honest about her depression.Or I could say this:These people are liars.Dont read the 5 star reviews.Read the 1 star reviews. If you are not the picture perfect personYou will be turned away.IF YOU ARE HAVING THOUGHTS ABOUT SELF HARMING, DO NOT TELL THE BIRTHING CENTER!Go get the mental help you need, but do not tell them if you are having severe depression. They will transfer your care because the scope of care, bla bla bla our image.Signed,A Betrayed Family
We love this place. We first came here in 2012 and loved it then, and weve been back three more times. The midwives are wonderful, the facilities are private and comfortable. This really is the best place to have a baby.
The receptionist is absolutely RUDE. Every time you call or go up there, she looks like she hate you and hates her job. Last time I was there a nurse asked her to do something, the second she walked away the receptionist started rolling her eyes in front of me. I was supposed to have my lab work done and they forgot to call it in at LabCorp, I called and the receptionist said “I’ll handle it” and then hangs up!This place does not realize that the receptionist is what sets the tone for businesses. They make people decide whether or not it’s a good place. This one is TERRIBLE.
Absolutely love the birth center!!! They are very welcoming and gave me the best experience I could ever ask for!! They know whats best for you and baby because of years of experience.
Funny how they delete reviews LOL would not ever recommend to anyone. They ask for your life story and if you’re honest about ANYTHING they consider you “high risk” and drop you from care. Funny how they only respond to positive reviews and delete the negative ones.
Do not go here if you will be using your insurance.. this business has issues with billing and coding the correct codes for insurance companies causing people to have to pay more money out of pocket all because they are using the incorrect codes. Most definitely FRAUD.
I had both of my girls with these lovely ladies. They took very good care of us. Rianna October 2007 and Bianka 2010. Thank you for all you do!
I had my first child there and the whole experience was amazing! They were very helpful and all together SO helpful!!! Definitely having my next babies there :)
Excellent team that makes you feel heard and cared for. The front desk, billing, labs, midwives are all excellent!
I have loved each and every one of my experiences here :) truly glad they helped me in bringing my babies into this world
Not okay. Wouldnt see me because I weigh to much. I have never in my life had an health issues with all of my pregnancies. I wont refer anyone to them. Screw them.
14 years later and Im still recommending them. They really helped me feel safe during my pregnancy.
Great experience two of my children were born here. As a male , I would encourage fathers to be to experience this if it is possible for your family

Such an amazing experience having my 2nd child here. I wish we were having more children so we could do it again!

I had my daughter there and it was a great experience the midwife there are alsome:)
I called yesterday and the woman on the phone was very unhelpful. I felt like I was bothering her by asking how to access services.
Called in today to get some information for my wife and I must say Tuwanna was very informative
Delivering here was the most amazing experience of my life!
