Overall Positive Things: ease of scheduling, short wait times, was able to get a wet mount to review my issue,Negative: I went into the appointment knowing medical racism is very real but thought I could get my issues addressed. I came with previous test reports, research and knew what to ask for so I can be properly treated. The NP wanted to prescribe me a medication that I did not need. I asked to look under the microscope because I knew what to look for and was told “I have other patients to work with but I can set up the microscope so you can see for yourself.” I was so taken aback by the statement but still looked under the microscope and saw the issue clear as day… I asked for a particular treatment which I knew would fix the situation even with visual evidence to confirm my issue to which she ignored it. I ending up leaving in pain and with no resolution. You would think I was asking for Percocet… No, I was asking for an antibiotic and I was not taken care of. Incredibly disappointed.
The experience I had here was nothing short of angelic from start to finish. Everyone was very warm and welcoming and definitely made the process a lot less stressful. Myself and my companion would like to send a big thank you to the entire staff. We are beyond grateful for all. Continue making a difference in this new world we are living in, you are appreciated!
One of the best experiences I’ve had with getting birth control and handling my sexual health! The facility is clean and lovely, the staff is amazing and went out of their way to make me feel comfortable and my doctor/nurse was so kind! She went out of her way to explain to me my options as well as make me aware of different kinds of complications. Would 100% go again, felt very safe and cared for as a young woman!
The staff was amazing. Dr Katcher was warm, talked me through my entire process. I didn’t feel any judgement from anyone. They made sure I was comfortable and safe. The facility was very clean also. I appreciate all of the staff that made my visit welcoming and smooth.
Staff doesn’t mask consistently.update: came for EC. tried to make a appointment and was sent to voicemail despite them being open. i was told that it would be $50 (standard price. i asked if i could use my insurance to send a new prescription for a free one to my pharmacy and they said it’d take until tomorrow to process). decided to buy it because my pharmacy is already taking too long processing other scripts.they charged me $50 for an off brand EC (which isn’t to say that it wouldn’t work but i then googled the one they gave me and found out i could’ve paid $18 for 3 of the same kind and it would’ve been delivered sooner)all of this to say that if someone answered the phone when i first called, this all could’ve been avoided.
I had an excellent experience!! I came here for my annual well woman exam, and it was lovely all around. I had no problem calling in to book an appointment, and was quickly thereafter emailed a link to a portal to handle all my forms and details. There is patient parking on the roof of the building, very convenient. All the receptionists were very kind, and check in was hassle free. The lobby was surprisingly well furnished, better than most doctors offices, and the exam room was comfortable as well. The nurse and the doctor were both absolutely lovely, personable, and very helpful and gave me lots of good information on top of my exam which was very easy. This was my first time to PPH, and I will definitely be utilizing this resource for my gynecologist and reproductive health needs in the future.
My appointment was at 10:30 and didn’t call me back until 11:33. I was told it was a 30 min wait after 30 min the staff decided to put a sign up saying they’re running 45 min behind . I usually get in and out when I’m seen here . It only happens on certain days so I believe the person working these days needs some training on scheduling because they are triple booking patients and causes a disruption to our day .
This place is so unprofessional when it comes to their patients. Called, hung up on multiple of times July 2, 2024 Ive asked for a pri authorization form for a week now to be filled out they have not yet to do so, not seeing my medical as a priority. This is so ghetto. I promise you if this were an another race other than black this would not have been an issue.Update: Brittney at the primary front desk handle everything like a professional and Im VERY PLEASED with her efforts! I dont KNOW what the OTHERS called themselves doing! but my girl handled the matter saved them from a one ⭐️ move them to a Three ⭐️⭐️⭐️
When you think of Planned Parenthood (PP), you dont typically associate it with primary care or services for men.I moved to the area in the fall of 2020, and a year later, it was time to find a primary care physician. While browsing my insurers website, I stumbled upon Planned Parenthood. I was pleasantly surprised to find out that they also cater to men.Ive been met with care and attention every time Ive visited. The cleanliness and quality of the environment have been a nice bonus. But as we all know, what really makes a place shine are the people. I have to say that I am in love with one of the physicians, Krystian Jones. Her professionalism, care, and honesty have been greatly appreciated. I admit that, as a male, I was initially hesitant to share some of my concerns with a female physician. However, Kristen does an excellent job of providing a safe space. Its important for me to address my concerns regarding my body and well-being to ensure I receive the treatment and guidance needed. I quickly got over my initial hesitation!PP has been my primary for over two years. It felt right to review after several visits and receiving what I feel to be quality service.Id also like to shoutout some other teammates:Faith (thanks for your kindness and professionalism)Divya (Congrats on the new baby)ColleenFYI - its easy to make an appointment and MyChart is wonderful!
Unfortunately I am an African American that was not received well by the front desk staff specifically Nicoy and Deja. So my wife was in for a procedure Friday and of course I’m her support person which I came after her appointment time. When I arrived Nicoy came out and was trying to explain why I wasn’t allowed in I then asked him to check my ID because I know my name was left with someone. This guy wouldn’t go check anything constantly said I don’t know who you are while I’m trying to prove who I am. Long story short I was not allowed in to support my wife which she needed help even leaving this establishment. I feel like I was discriminated against because of my appearance which shouldn’t be the point of a place like this.
I don’t know why this place has such bad reviews. I was just there this morning for maybe 3-4 hours. Everyone was so friendly, nice and welcoming. Front desk, security, nurses, assistants and doctors.. I would like to thank them all for taking such a good care of the patients and being so supportive and welcoming for everyone.I was really worried about the place because of the google reviews, but such a good experience I had. So glad I went there this morning.
They saved me after a horrible botched abortion at DuPont clinic. They were kind and genuine. They without bias higher stars then they do. It’s one of these things where you hope it never happens to you but if you do need them you hope you get the care i received from them. Thank you.
If I’m being honest, this is definitely not what I was expecting, from the name, Planned Parenthood, it definitely seems like they are pushing women to have abortions, we went in because it was the quickest place to get an appointment to confirm pregnancy and the whole vibe was like oh is he forcing you and no judgment but if you wanna take care of it, we have those options as well. we know that we don’t need you to sell it to us.Especially after my partner explained the situation while we were there, I felt like the resurrection of changedAnd also for Planned Parenthood, making the father of the child sit outside while you ask the mother of the child questions about the father is very stupidThe facility is beautifulThe staff was OK I guessBut they should rename this place to options because it’s not playing parenthood because they do not help you plan with your partner and they promote abortions or ending the pregnancy even when you told them that you were just there because this is the quickest way to get an appointment to confirm pregnancy and they don’t take insuranceAnd they’re very quick to tell you they have options to end your pregnancy, but they don’t tell you all of the complications that will come after, they could definitely use some people training as well, maybe the staff needs to work more in a real world environment and less in a high trauma environment with they think everyone is coming in there because they’re either of you or in a situation that they didn’t plan for working in environment where people fully know what they’re getting into and have come in there for confirmationBecause they say they offer that but it seems like oh no, we just had to offer abortions
Staff not very friendly. Also have called multiple times over multiple days and no one EVER answers the phone.. the day of my appointment I was told my test result was one thing but saw a completely different result on mychart. still have not been able to reach anyone to verify the actually result of my test…
I had a 10/10 experience here for my birth control appointment. The volunteers, front desk, and medical staff were all extremely kind and patient and made me feel very safe. I highly recommend getting your care at this location!
Went in to the DC clinic for a vasectomy. The location itself was very secure - in order to use the rooftop parking you need to have an appointment. The doctor and nurse were both extremely supportive throughout, with thorough explanations about the procedure, possible risks, and aftercare directions. The procedure itself was under 30 minutes, with very minimal pain (less painful than getting a filling at the dentist). Great experience, glad I went here for such a sensitive procedure.
Friendly, patient, educational, performing incredibly valuable services in a welcoming, comfortable environment. Thank you to the entire staff!
I know there’s a lot of not great reviews for this place. So I wanted to add a good one. They got me an appointment quickly, checked me in quickly, called me back quickly and the doctor came in quickly. Everyone was extremely nice and it was clean. I felt safe and cared for. I would definitely recommend this planned parenthood.
My husband and I went here yesterday for his vasectomy and the Dr P was amazing ad was her assistant which I forgot her name. But they are amazing here so friendly and very professional. Dr P made sure to explain everything fully and she made it go by so quick with good conversation. I really recommend this place they do everything even primary care doctor.
If you dont have an insurance, DO NOT USE ANY SERVICE HERE!! I had an experience with another branch before and the price for each appointment is reasonable. They charged me $250 just birth control pill prescription. This is insane and I dont never ever come back again. But the doctor and nurse are so nice and kind.
10/10 they were so nice and quick and so supportive and she talked me through everything when I was getting my birth control taken out
There are a lot of pros - ease of scheduling, clear processes for checking in that made me feel like the location is secure, and the SUPER sweet and supportive staff who checked me in/out and did my intake (thanks, Faith!). If I were only scoring this portion of my experience, it would be a 5!Unfortunately, the doctor was awful and I canceled my next appointment to avoid having to see her again in person. She was coercive, impatient, and mistrustful of what I shared (interrogating and dismissing). She was clearly upset that the intake was taking a long time, but the professional (Faith) doing the intake was making me feel heard, safe, and prioritized (it put me at ease so much that the blood draw she did on my later a BREEZE - cant say enough great things about Faith). In contrast to Faiths care, when the doctor came in (after pulling the Faith out first I need to talk to you before barging back in a minute later), she started asking pointed questions in a direct, cold, and impatient way. Do you have ___? When were you diagnosed? How? That doesnt sound right. You might not even have ___. Its likely just an intolerance. ...Ive been suffering with this particular issue for over a decade...but sure...invalidate it within 2 minutes of meeting me without further exploration. Who benefits form that approach and why would you orient toward disbelieving me or, if something doesnt sound right, not explore further to understand how this diagnosis came about?? Dismissal of my concerns, lack of effective testing, and combative (condescending) engagements are top reasons I struggle engaging with medical care and what Id hope to avoid at PPH.Secondly, I asked for a diagnostic blood test for an issue that runs in my family and whose symptoms match my recent experience. That test...Ill just do a lesser version and then go from there depending on the results. ...but Im paying and Im getting blood drawn today - why wouldnt we just run the full test when Im ready, willing, and requesting it?Lastly (and most egregiously), I let her know that Im having worsening issue in my pelvic region (had emergency surgery 12 months ago, too, where they removed an organ) - Im genuinely scared AND cant tolerate inter-vaginal exams. Instead of giving me options that align with this boundary, noting the benefits and drawbacks of each and deciding together, she kept pushing speculum (we have a small one. Is it because of trauma? Its honestly the best way of figuring things out. -BEST FOR WHO?!) - she NEVER even explored/talked to me about other options. Not effective, person-centered, or trauma informed at ALL! I am NOT the first person with a vagina to have this issue - so does she just coerce everyone?? Just give the options and let me decide whats best given that its MY BODY and my experience; Im willing to start noninvasively and move up if the test is inconclusive (I would feel safer and more connected to a provider who was willing to at least hear me and try). The person doing the intake listened and noted all of the tests or referrals that could happen to get to the bottom of my concerns. The doctor (I dont remember her name) was too busy dismissing me and being annoyed that I was taking too long to follow through. I left confused, frustrated, and with no referrals to allergist or all the tests I asked for. My HEALTH outcomes are now WORSE because of her treatment - the worst thing that happened to the doctor is that she was slightly behind schedule during a day where there clinic was almost empty.I came to PPH because I have significant medical trauma from past anti-Black, anti-woman experiences that are the norm in the field but PPHs providers are usually so much more trusting, empowering, and collaborative - I was thrilled that they started offering general health services! Finally, I could feel safe exploring symptoms that have started piling up over the years! Im so sad that the doctor treated me that way; she really made me feel like my concerns werent valid, nor my symptoms or experiences real.
This place is very UNPROFESSIONAL I went there for a procedure in April I payed in cash I was not able to get the procedure there because setting up for the procedure was uncomfortable so the doctor decided it’s best if I come back another time i asked for my refund when I was leaving and was told that i can’t get a refund in cash it will be a check mailed to me. I decided to go another route. It’s been nearly 4 months and I still DO NOT have my REFUND I went to the facility 3-4 times I spoke with the managers and they always said they have to call the billing department when the billing department is inside the building they gave me numbers to call every time I called no one answered and they voicemail box is always full so you can not leave a voicemail. I did speak with a lady and that still did not help my process she had to call other people to check the status of my check. There is something weird going on there at the facility. They also charged me for something and I did not receive the procedure. I went there yesterday and I spoke with a manager security officer that I never seen before and she looked at me and said she apologize about the situation I gave her my info and writhing a hour of me leaving the facility the billing department called me saying they cut the check. stay away from this place
Went in for a vasectomy and had the most pleasant experience with Dr Purnell & Sunshine. They were warm, comforting, informative and reassuring. Any anxiety that I had going in was quickly resolved, to point where I’ll be going back for primary care going forward. Highly recommend.
They helped me in a same day emergency when my regular obgyn wouldnt
Do not come here if you don’t have insurance. It is $300 just to be seen. Because of that I opted for just routine testing and I was charged $100 at the time of my visit. I was not informed by the staff there that Labcorp would send me a bill for $475 after the fact.Everyone there was extremely nice and I had a great experience with my provider but this is not the place to go if you don’t have insurance.
Go elsewhere if you have the option. Idk how a place can be ghetto and professional at the same time, but this is how this place is. Clean facility, nice staff, competent staff but the wait times are ridiculous and they take no accountability. You barely get a sorry for the wait. I stupidly have been coming here for years because it’s close to my house but after today never again. I’d only come 2x a year (my well woman and yearly physical) so I’d forget how horrible they are until I came again. each time it’s an issue and a wait. I wait forever to be seen and then they can’t even draw bloodwork because none of the practitioners, anytime I went, could draw my blood because my veins are too small. So they’d send me To labcorp. Today I came in for a yearly physical, waited 30 mins to be seen only to be told there’s no one available to do my appt because “this side of the bldg” only does well woman exams. So the same doctors can’t do a yearly physical?! Good day. I’ll see y’all never again.
Didn’t send a medication request I asked for at a specific pharmacy. I had the paper with the Dr. signature on it and the pharmacy told me they didn’t accept printed signatures. And there was a 2 hour wait.
Dr burkett exceeded my expectations on my husbands vasectomy,he felt no pain. Very professional
Reading some of these negative reviews about them being rude is false !! My experience was great ! Debbie , Erika, The girl who did my ultra sound that starts with a L (sorry I forgot your name) and Dr S and her guy nurse were all super great !!! I thought I was going to be there longer but I wasn’t . Thank you for everything y’all ❤️
I had a hard time getting a phone call, but once I did, setting up an appointment for the next week was simple. Upon arrival, everyone I spoke to (security, receptionists, and nurses) was very kind and helpful. The whole process went very smoothly for me. Check-in was quick since they accepted my insurance and I had no co-pay. I waited about 40 minutes until I was called in but I didn’t mind since the waiting room is pleasant (wifi, A/C, lots of seating). The nurses listened to me and were so nice throughout my appointment. I will definitely stick with Planned Parenthood for future health needs.
Really nice care by doctors and nurses. Very understanding and compassionate, really seem to care about their patient. I like that it is possible to do general health exams at this center as well.
Planned parenthood does such good work, eternally grateful for this organizations existence.
My experience here was far beyond amazing. The staff is so caring and very professional. I never met a team of women that was so in sync like the women at PP. I am so happy with my choice of this location to care for me. It meant so much how helpful and gentle they were with me, I wish I could give them 100 stars. Now the wait was long but the customer service exceeded my expectations so well I didnt even mind the wait. I truly thank these ladies from the bottom of my heart. If you want to be treated with respect this is the place to go.
I have moved and i need my medical records but absolutely no one will answer the phone. I really need them for my birth control and when my IUD needs to be replaced. That can be truly life changing if I don’t know.
The longest wait time. You might have to cancel all your plans that day meeting with these ppl. I arrived 15 mins early and I’m still waiting a hour to be seen for my scheduled appointment. Terrible service and only 2 doctors.
Wow. This place couldnt have been better. Starting with the waiting rooms, the seating is very comfortable and roomy. The wait, no matter where you go, is excessive, so this was crucial. I had the surgery done. I was fine while waiting but when I entered the operation room, I was nervous. Without asking, a woman who specializes in mental support comes in. I thought it was silly at first but wow she made me feel incredibly better. In fact I needed her. Everyone was polite and non judgmental. Starting from the front desk, to the nurses, and the doctors. Highly recommend.
They gave me no information going in, they didnt tell me anything about the bleeding for 3 weeks after!! Do not go to this place they dont inform on anything!
I was excited to learn that PP was beginning to offer primary care services, this location is very convenient for me and accepts my insurance. Although the facility is aesthetically pleasing, the environment and the providers are cold and disinterested in the provider/patient relationship. Both of my experiences felt very transactional, it was OBVIOUSLY ALL about the money for them. Neither doctors showed any concern for my concerns. This is an issue when dealing with something as sensitive and delicate as women’s health. It can be more traumatic then it’s often perceived. If you’re looking for quality, compassionate long term primary care, I suggest you look elsewhere. Your health is important and you should be treated with dignity and care. No excuse (I also work in a clinic).
All of the staff were super nice and understanding! I was so nervous about my procedure but they helped throughout the whole process. The nurse even held my hand throughout the whole procedure and talked me through it. Everything went smoothly. I was there for about 3.5 hours but it didn’t seem long because I felt very comfortable. I would recommend this location.
If you have an appointment, call in advanced to see how far behind they’re running. I waited for over an hour and had to leave without having my appointment because they were just taking way too long and I had to get back to work. The staff was friendly, but I think they should give patients a heads-up if they are over an hour behind on appointments. There were people there that were waiting longer than me and had also stated being worried because they had to get back to work. It would be better to cut back on appointments if you know you run a little slower, or just post a disclosure. There was one person ahead of me so I would’ve waited at least 30 more minutes since she had not even been called in yet. This just isn’t accessible for some people and it’s the only planned parenthood I’ve been to that has had little disregard for their patient’s time.
We actually had a very positive experience here. The facility was clean and modern and the staff were all kind and caring. Security guards were very nice and diligent. We arrived 30 minutes early to our appointment and didnt have to wait at all. I did have to wait an hour to speak with the doctor which wasnt ideal, but all in all, we were in and out in just a little over two hours. Id definitely recommend!
I had a quick and easy annual appointment here. I booked online and had no issues start to finish, which was nice because I had difficulty finding any other available gyno appointments in DC. The reception staff was nice and got me in quickly, and the nurse and doctor walked me through all the procedures and didnt make me feel rushed. The facilities were clean and quiet and this was overall an excellent experience.
I scheduled a virtual doctors appointment three weeks ago on the PP website. I never got a confirmation email. Today, the day of my appointment, Ive received no calls or emails or texts to confirm my appointment or provide a link for the virtual appointment. Ive called the PP number 4 times and no one from the DC location picks up. I scheduled the appointment online and it said it had scheduled successfully. So its disappointing that nothing from PP has been communicated via email, phone or text. I looked back at the confirmation text I received from DocASAP (the scheduling app that PP uses) and clicked on the link, and it says the appointment says its been cancelled, but I was never contacted about my appointment being cancelled. No one contacted me to reschedule either.
I can’t get them to follow up on my health after blood work nor can I get them to respond to any emails regarding medical leave from my job due to health concerns. I always feel welcomed and cared for when I’m there, but it’s impossible to get ahold of anyone if you aren’t physically in the building for an appointment.
Beautiful updated facility. Friendly staff. Calming music. But all that means nothing as the wait time is incredulous. It doesn’t appear that they follow scheduled appointments in the least. Either they should consider taking less people to focus on client flow or honestly have a snack option available. I suspect I wouldn’t be as cranky if I could eat. Lastly, I would highly suggest the ladies at the front desk and throughout the facility have a sense of privacy and speak with hushed voices. These are private health matters. They are speaking so loudly, seated clients looked up. Also, I went with a friend terminating a pregnancy. The tech asked her if she wanted a printed copy of the sonogram. That is unimaginable and wrong. Please stop this process. Perhaps just have a sign stating if you would like a printout please let a tech know. My friend was offended and devastated.Update: After 5 hours, my friend was finally seen. FIVE HOURS of just waiting!!! That is unbelievable.
Came to planned parenthood back in 2019 for my IUD insertion. I still have my IUD and have had NO issues at all. I appreciate this center’s efforts to provide extra security as well! Came back in today for my annual STD check-up and find that reception is friendly and the wait time is reasonable. Booked in advance which I think tends to help a lot!
They changed my appointment 4 times in a span of 3 weeks. ( i made an appointment because I was experiencing period like cramps but without the period for an extensive time).1) As soon as I walk to the front desk, they tell me I have an outstanding balance of $160, I was confused, I havent had an appointment since last year. Turns out the call i made to get my anticontraceptive pill renewed was worth $160. (a two min conversation)2) I asked why they didnt charge it to my insurance company, they said they tried but they notified that they dont cover phone calls, (WHICH MAKES ABSOLUTE SENSE)3) They didnt want to take my insurance anymore because they dint accept initial payment (MIND YOU ive used this same insurance before with THEM) the front desk was absolutely horrible, she basically did not want to run my insurance for a second time3) she later proceeded to tell me that the consultation would be $250 JUST FOR THE DOCTOR TO SEE MEnon blood test, no pap smear, no kind of examination (that would be an extra cost)4) I asked her, why on earth was I not informed previously? they called me 4 times in the past 3 weeks and none of thoses times was this addressedhad to make an emergency appointment with another doctorfor the people is a straight up LIE
Came across doctors from this practice harassing a young woman online and calling her an ape for how she used her fork. Ryan Montoya and his friend Dr. Rick Rossie. If this is how they treat young women on the internet, I would not trust them with your care. From a Google search it seems like Dr. Ryan Montoya is pretty high up here.
Planned Parenthood has the nicest staff, they explain everything so well and make you feel so comfortable. I was sedated for most of my appointment and even in my dizziness, nausea and confusion, i knew i was alright because of how nice everyone was. Never once did i feel uncomfortable here!
The staff at this location are very unprofessional. Upon arrival, I was verbally harassed by the security officer. The receptionist contacted me 15 minutes prior to my appointment due to COVID-19 mentioning a telehealth appointment. I explained my appointment was in office and not telehealth all while standing in the lobby area continuously being harrassed by security. The security guard mentioned the little pill can be sent to a pharmacy. I never once mentioned the reason for my appointment. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL, a security guard has no business mentioning anything in reference to my care. The manager then said my appointment would be cancelled due to my tone. The staff at this location have no empathy, compassion or respect for patients. I was not given contact information or instructions to file a grievance.
I was there on 3/29/17, initially the experience was good the place is bright and most of the staff were great and helpful. However, once I was taken to the back waiting room the attitude of the woman with the red dreadlocks was not so pleasant. One of her patients had an odor and when that patient was called to the back the staff member began speaking about her very loudly and negatively about the patients smell. It was so uncomfortable that a few of the other staff members were trying to quite her down but she continued to berate the patient. It made me very self-conscious because myself and s few other women were waiting to be seen and wondered would we be belittle and shamed in this same manner. This was not ok and I would not recommend anyone to this office because of that situation.
This place is incredible. It is clean, private, and the entire staff that I encountered (which ended up being a lot of people throughout my visit) were all incredibly nice. They answered my questions with confidence and without hesitation, making me feel completely comfortable even though I had never been there before and had no idea what to expect. My procedure that I went for was quick and I experienced almost no side effects or pain. I could not have asked for a better experience. I am so thankful for these people and what they do every day.
The staff is extremely rude. The doctors dont seem to be qualified at all.
Everyone i encountered during my visit was helpful and pleasant. I went in to get a general exam due to some problems Ive been experiencing and it was my first one of that nature. The individual who performed my examination was patient and took the time to explain everything and ensure all my questions were answered. I will definitely continue to seek care here.
Staff and Managers are very unprofessional. Since COVID19 they have been doing telehealth appointments. The paperwork online is stressful enough for people who arent feeling well. I spoke to her over the phone I have never been so disrespected by a health care provider in my life. Being hung up on and left on hold. She was also very insensitive to my feelings about whom I disclosed invasive information to over the phone. The staff purposely cancelled my appointments because they dont want to do any work close to closing hours. I became frustrated because of my pain levels and their lack of understanding. They basically left me to die but I have been banned from a professional office? Thats the way management reacts to diffuse situations!
I spoke with Mia (DC location), regarding concerns that I had about the medication. She was unprofessional while handling my case, speaking to coworkers about having lunch. After repeating my issue several times, she told me a nurse will reach out to me before the day is out. No has called me still. I even reached out to the center multiple times after my issue took a turn and the phone went straight to voicemail for the rest of the day. This facility has abandoned me and my issue . I spent hundreds of dollars to receive half way service.
As a black woman I would not recommend this facility. The doctor (a black woman) tried to convince me out of taking a cervical exam even though I never had one…. I had to say over and over again I came for a cervical cancer screening. SHE is apart of the problem of why black woman don’t receive the necessary care we need to LIVE. I was so disappointed! I feel as though she should lose her license for trying to convince me out of an exam. Who does that???? I will be reporting her to the health board because her actions were extremely concerning.
THEY UPCHARGE MORE THAN 200 for a service you can get at cvs for 159 total (depo). It would have cost 340 “with taxes” here self pay. They told me there’s no sliding scale for self pay here as well. Which is a lie.. at cvs minute clinic you can get depo for 169 total visit included. This is one of the rudest planned parenthood’s I have ever been to. I am a transient individual to the city and the receptionist pressed me to provide an emergency contact which I don’t have; I explained as much and she insisted on me not being able to get service without one even though I’m self pay. Ignorant and disrespectful staff and as a person of color, in one of the areas with more black people per capita, i wish I could say I was surprised the rudest experiences I have in this city are from fellow people of color. Planned parenthood’s values are based in the treatment of those who come in who are often survivors of domestic experiences as I am. Terrible customer service.
Im not sure why there are negative reviews, but I prepared myself for the worst going in to this facility today, I expected judgement and coldness but I received the complete opposite. Every person I was in contact with was sweet and understanding. I expected long wait times but the entire process was done within an hour. The decision was difficult enough but having a caring team help me through it and answer any questions I had made the world of a difference. My experience was as warm and helpful as it could be given the circumstances.
I have not been to see a primary care doctor in awhile. However, I went to PP and was thrilled with the care. I felt listened to. I felt respected by the physician. And I received 10/10 care. As a medical professional myself, I loved the care I received and would recommend it to anyone!
The one star is because of one employee at this location, a nurse practitioner named Christian who was cold and uncaring to me and my situation. I came in for an annual exam which I never received. Nothing. No pap smear, no pelvic exam, no breast exam. Nothing. I expressed concerns about a lump on my ovary and wanted to rule out cancer. The ONLY thing she did was give me a referral for an ultrasound with no further instructions. She could have done bloodwork for a cancer screening but she did not. Just the referral and it was $280. For a referral I had to search for and that I can’t afford. When I tried to get in touch with planned parenthood about what happened I was led to a full mailbox so I couldn’t even leave a message. Woman’s care should be handled with a kind ear and empathy. This experience was hurtful. It was stressful enough dealing with pelvic pain and the fear of having ovarian cancer. I will always stand with planned parenthood because it is the best our society has to offer women in a country that gives us few options and a broken healthcare system. I empathize with the strain on healthcare workers but if your heart isn’t in this work then consider working where women aren’t so vulnerable. Thankfully I have insurance as of today so I do not have to return to this location.
Recently came here with my significant other and it was all good until they mailed us a surprise bill off $1000 plus dollars after paying on site at the clinic. Nobody returns calls you have to leave a message, and also they don’t tell you that you’ll be billed X amount for no reason so make sure you ask. I recommended any other clinic if you want to feel safe! Also keep in mind she was only 4 weeks pregnant so for them to charge over $1000 is ridiculous.
All the staff here were amazing and so kind!Only problem is they are awfully unorganized. I dont think Ive ever been at a doctors office for so long. About 3 hours. So be prepared to wait!!Also parking is on the roof, theres a small alley that takes you to the ramp and then you can page them to let you through the gate.
I had a very good experience with the exception of the front desk receptionist. I’m not sure if she was having a bad day two days in a row but I have never met such an argumentative person. I had a mix up with my prescriptions which was my fault but her tone was very rude as if she wanted to ensure I knew it was my fault. She was very quick to tell me when I was wrong and just overall a unpleasant young lady. Every thing else was GREAT but she needs a vacay
I had a telehealth appointment this morning and I received a voicemail an hour beforehand telling me I need to complete the registration sent to me. Nothing was ever sent to me, I looked everywhere through my texts and email. She said she would call me back but she never did and the number would not work when I called. Now apparently my important appointment is being cancelled. Will not be making appointments at this location again.
If I could rate this location no stars, I would. Dr. Brandi Jones is the most insensitive doctor. She has the worst beside manners and has no respect for patients time. I’ve been here twice now and I’ve had to wait 2 hours just to be seen. The staff are really nice except for the one receptionist that is at the very front (not the one at the side). Her attitude is rude and like she doesn’t want to be at work.
I went for a procedure about a week ago and the people at the front desk were so helpful but once I was passed them and had to go in the back for a sonogram and questioning the people were extremely rude to me. I had my hands on my shirt because I was calls due to the temperature in the facility, the nurse rudley asked me is there a reason your hands are in your shirt and once I told her she responds that it was cold she says well you need to take them out they were very impatient with me and I feel that since they are a new facility opening they feel that can do and say whatever they please to there guess and that needs to change if they want to continue business.
Really easy to book an appointment with and get quick testing done. The staff was very friendly and guards were vigilant in protecting all patients
The whole staff was kind a courteous. The doctor was one of the best OBGYN I have come across. I was in and out in about 30 min for my appointment. Could not have been better! Would recommend to anyone.
My girlfriend had an appointment here. Her doctor was extremely cold, belligerent and impolite. She was roughly handled and in general her experience was very traumatic and she came away feeling violated. I would avoid this location. If you must go and end up with the doctor who is pregnant, I would ask for another one. Each other staff member was nice, though a rude and hasty healthcare professional at an establishment as essential as Planned Parenthood is unacceptable. I plan on filing a formal complaint to make sure this doctors behavior is rectified or terminated.
I don’t like writing reviews but this one I HAD TO…Please don’t go here. My first time going there it was terrible!!! Remind u it looks sooo comfy and expensive inside you will think they are professional, but they are not at all!!! Let me tell you, First they charge $578 for the pill!!! No matter how early u arrive, u will wait for at least two hours before u see a doctor just so u can wait ANOTHER one hour to see another doc. When I went there I knew I was pregnant, but guess what??? They ended up saying I wasn’t pregnant and they charged me for the ultrasound that I DIDNT ASK IN THE FIRST PLACE!! And they already had my insurance but I was charged anyways, so I had to schedule ANOTHER appointment at another location in MD and the doctors were actually surprised why Parent plannedhood in NE couldn’t see my pregnancy!!. MY ADVICE..go to MEDSTAR WASHINGTON HOSPITAL!! The pill AND surgical procedure is $350!!!! Not $578!! And they actually treat u with care! It’s a hospital so u will see real experienced doctors and nurses! If u love yourself don’t go to parent plannedhood….Good luck!
PLEASE DONT WASTE YOUR TIME. My experience was good IN THE BEGINNING the staff are so cool but the doctor that did my surgical procedure was very rude, she didn’t know what to say out of her mouth. She was very impatient with me, I was in so much pain & to top it all off I got a really bad infection from her not properly talking out the remains.
My appointment was at 9am hours went by never seen a doctor!!! This place is trash never coming back!!!!
Daryl, more like Karen.... this lady was extremely rude to me today! I felt some racial discrepancies. She literally fit the stereotype of white women being problematic and disrespectful. I don’t like having to ask them for help, and I don’t like their condescending tones while helping. Sure enough daryl gave me just that insinuating i was the reason for her nurse to not follow up with me. Insinuating i wouldve put my health at risk as opposed to telling my doctor what was wrong with me. Hilarious. In fact while on the phone with my doctor i specifically recall talking about the enormous amount of back pain i was experiencing and how i feared it was my kidney since i know that’s in my medical history. She proceeded to be condescending and unhelpful. Telling me oh well essentially and that since that’s not what their notes say it’s nothing i can do but go to the ER they couldn’t help. Funny she wouldn’t even give me her last name. White women seem to remember that they are white before they are “women”. The only useful part of the conversation came behind closed doors where the receptionist Cpo.dadis was extraordinarily helpful! He explained to me the reason that i could not be seen, it wasn’t because of the follow up being unsuccessful but in fact it was because she was booked for the day, and since my symptoms were so severe it would be best if I went to the emergency room. He apologize for Miss Darrells delivery because her tone might’ve made the message lost in translation he guaranteed that it was only because of the lack of doctors available. He was the only highlight though he was only willing to side with me after the rude woman went away. I would not recommend this facility. Or if i were to recommend it i promise you it would only be on a day the lady holding the picture above is NOT there
I have only ever had really wonderful experiences here. Its a clean, secure facility with a great staff that is very conscientious about the patients overall wellness. My experiences have always been gender inclusive and folks are careful to ask about my mental health as well as physical. They provide a wide range of services -- the Planned Parenthood app is very helpful in creating appointments. Theyre a high volume clinic and seem to take on many patients every day, but manage it well. Their online check-in system seems to work well, and theyre generally very accommodating. The only thing I will mention is that this is a hot spot for anti-choicers and lots of them show up to harass patients going into the clinic. You might want to brace yourself to see a few disturbing chalk messages on the sidewalk near the clinic (all ridiculous and false, of course). I suspect that many of these one-star reviews are by anti-choicers. Either way -- if you are seeking an abortion (or another service and youre just anxious about being accosted), ask about a clinic escort! You deserve care and Planned Parenthood is a place that can help.I admire anyone that works in this facility -- thanks for providing for the community!
Had the best experience with DR. Purnell and the staff at this establishment. Everyone was kind, professional, and proficient! Everyone deserves this type of efficiency when visiting the doctors. Thank you!
DONT GO TO THE DR NAME CHRISTIAN SHE DONT TAKE HER JOB SERIOUSLY THIS ON THE PCP SIDE SHES VERY UNCARING ITS UNFORTUNATE FOR HER TO WORK IS THE FIELD AND BE SO UP TIGHT/mean I came for a physical NONE of that was done I see similar reviews about with the same issue she look at you like she’s tired of your concerns as soon as she walk in the door idc I’ll rather go to the yellow toned folk because Som black people don’t take they job serious or just as lazy !
I’ve been a patient for nearly 10 years and I have had nothing but fantastic, non judgmental care here. Even had a bilingual nurse to help explain things to my boyfriend. I suspect negative reviews are from anti-abortion protesters because this facility is really fantastic
I had to leave a review because the drs here were so amazing. I was their last patient of the day on a Saturday. Each one of the nurses I encountered was super nice, understanding, and patient.
Had a telehealth appointment. Did not receive a call 15 minutes prior for a link like I was told I would, link texted to me days prior to “join, reschedule, or unsubscribe” told me I could join the call 15 mins before scheduled time but with no option to actually do so. Called the practice and was told my call would not be transferred and was hung up on (automatically) what the hell?
I don’t understand the negative reviews . I was the first early morning patient at this facility not long ago , I came in very nervous very unsure of what to expect but the staff here were so amazing, very supportive and kind . Definitely felt well taken care of . I recommend this place to all young women .
Planned Parenthoods new location is pristine! It is a welcoming place and the staff are extremely professional and friendly.I noticed that one reviewer felt awkward but I do not believe it was due to the staff or the location and their one-star review seemed too harsh. Parking is easy and the neighborhood seems safe. When I went, there was a crossing guard helping students across the street because there is an elementary school just down the block and the neighborhood seemed to be alive with both teachers and parents.Regarding the ambiance of the Carol Moses Planned Parenthood Health Center, it could not be more comfortable. They have tea and water for people as they wait for their appointments, there was jazz playing in the lobby, and the furniture is new and stylish. I really appreciated that the doors were monitored by a friendly but strong looking security guard because Planned Parenthoods have had a long, nationwide struggle with protestors.I felt safe there and will go back there again and I think other women should feel safe going there, too.
It truly makes no sense you cant speak to a person at this location. They will either hang up or just not answer at all. Its extremely frustrating trying to get make an appointment at this location. As if people want to drive elsewhere.
My daughter went here for a Covid test. It was positive. I brought her a day later to a private physician. Test was negative, no antibodies. Her roommate was negative, boyfriend was negative, everyone she had been in contact with was negative. Charged my insurance, and got to add another case to the government stats.
Mostly wonderful and helpful people who seem to genuinely care. i was thankfully allowed to go inside with my disabled fiancé for his appointment and we were told to sit and wait so we sat together and not 6 feet apart because we, again, are fiancés. i didnt know about the 6 feet apart rule here for people within your home circle so a lady who worked there scolded me from across the room and then was a little mean to me when i said we lived together. i have really bad anxiety and this triggered me pretty badly and i think i had a panic attack. ive been crying on and off. i got up and went to sit apart from my fiancé after i was informed, of course, because i’m not one of those people who argues about things like this in a pandemic, but being snapped at really hurt and made me really scared to be there. im sorry if she had a bad day. i dont want to make it worse. im sure the job must be so so stressful especially now.
Hello my name is Dontria and I got horrible service from here just last week. The actual personal encounter was good but after sucked (which is still ongoing at this moment) I received a prescription, picked it up and got in an uber home. Unfortunately I left the prescription in the car and was unable to get it returned. (Prescription consisted of nothing serious but antibiotics). I called the worker that gave it to me, she immediately stated it was not a problem and would be another one at same location. I then took another $19 uber there and back to get it filled again...it was not put in and at this time the phone lines were down. I called the next day, supposedly she was busy ALL day and no one else could help me. I called from 9 am to 530 pm all day on the hour and my call was answered only TWICE to say that she would call me back by the end of the day which she DID NOT. Every time I called, the phone rang and went to a voicemail asking me to leave a message and before i was able it cut off. It is very disappointing that I still have not received my new perscription without even a call back. I work in the mental health field and being able to find an entire day to take off to even come in to be seen was a struggle. Still awaiting contact, hoping I won’t need to be seen else where. Please fix this service! No one should be waiting 48 hours for a Response for any issue! I give them one star for this encounter and hope it will change due tl their covenient location to my job.
Upon learning that they didnt take my insurance the receptionist hung up immediately. Wow. Just wow. Glad I couldnt get an appointment.
Excellent customer service, and very clean office
The whole team has such a great disposition. I believe it all emanates from the the wonderful female doctor, who’s expertise and professionalism has spread like a wildfire through her staff. I would recommend going to them for all your reproductive health needs.
I’ve been going to this location 4 years now and they’ve always been professional while still making everything quick and easy. Recently had an appointment and even though it had been busy, NP Christine (I think thats the right name?) looked me in my face, answered all my questions, had me in and out in a jiffy and pap smearing skills were level 9000. 5/5 from Marg
Great experience - many thanks to the knowledgeable nurses and clinician for helping me to feel comfortable during my exam and talking through birth control options. Great care, great facility, I’d refer to anyone!
I got Anxiety when I was going to get my Birth-control implant removed And one of the nurses were nice enough to Emotionally support me and held my hand through the process overall i had a great experienceI’d recommend this place to anyone else for their Birth control needs
I was outside here with a friend and the security guard tried to get my friend to go back into the alleyway with him. It was very weird and creepy and he’s literally the one handling the young girls going inside. Doesn’t seem like a safe place and please be wary of the taller security guard
Went in circles finding this location due to construction. There was no notification of this construction that happens often according to the staff. There was no way of knowing how to take alleys to finally find this location. I drove around the blocks for about 40 mins while trying to call for help. The first two people weren’t very helpful at all. Then finally someone answered and was polite and empathetic enough to assist with with finding this location. Terrible experience!!
Staff are super friendly and attentive. Wait is a bit long but that all depends on what services you are there for. I was 20 mins late to my 2nd appt at this location and I was in and out in an hour.
I’ve called and emailed trying to receive my itemized bill and nobody answers the phone or responds. I was told to call back while I was physically there and ask for billing, because every bill they printed was incorrect. Now I cannot file any claim with my insurance because I can’t get my bill and nobody will answer.
Helpful staff, clean facility, convenient rooftop parking. Just had to wait a while for the provider.
Hi My Name is Monique Wilson I Was Seen On 6/13/20 I Had A IUD Removal I Was Working With Peggy Who Did A Awesome Job I Was Sooooo Scared Of The Entire Procedure But She Was Very Helpful & Helped Me Keep Claim During The Whole Process I Did Not Experience Any Pain At All She Was Excellent & I Appreciate Her Sooooo Much I Thank God For Her Expertise & Thank You Parent Planned Hood For Having Her As A Excellent Employee She Definitely Deserves A Award 🥇 Thank You Soooo Much Peggy Take Care & God Bless You
Almost always better to get to another location. Staff consistently rude and lack customer service. Doctors are fine and get the job done and can always find parking in the neighborhood.
They are SUPER nice and make me feel cared about rather than another patient. Very understanding and easy to get the help needed.
They were great I had my nexplannon removed the nurses and the staff were so nice and pleasant I was nervous but they assured me I would be okay! Thank you so much ❤️
Do not go to this place. Waited 7 hours for my appointment that was scheduled at 11:55. Horribly organized. miserable experience.More complicated then need be and completely ridiculous.
Very kind staff and I was seen very quickly!
My girlfriend had an issue with one of the MAs in your facility i think her name dejany or something like that i really dont care tbh shes unprofessional and rude im expecting more class from an facility thats suppose to take care of peoples health she couldnt even pronounce menstrual correctly, common yall do better
The WORST place ever. I’m still having nightmares about what they made me experience. If I could have this place shut down I would. AND IM TRYING. So the next poor girl that walks in won’t have to experience what I had to....I won’t stop trying. Specially if anyone has a strong case against them like I DO hit me up.....
Everyone there was very kind, very informative and very helpful. They were all caring, took time to explain the process to me and answer any questions I had. Will definitely be recommending & going back.
They are great at helping you with reproductive health issues when you’ve tried multiple options. I would pick PP over any other OBGYN.
They listened to my concerns and actually helped me find out what was wrong with me. Not every obgyn seems to take patients seriously, so thank you, Dawn.
Courteous, helpful and compassionate staff. Your wait might be a bit long but good service once you are seen by the staff & doctor(s).
Long wait times. Staff are disinterested at best. Modern facility. Whoever runs this page gives lip service and downplays everything, thats their job.
Amazing doctors and staff they made me feel very comfortable the entire time I was there ❤️
My doctor and nurses and everyone treated me amazing! Thank you to Everyone who works at this location truly a great experience.
They where very nice but the punctured my uterus.. and only gave me Ibuprofen I’m in excruciating pain.. they where suppose to call and no call to check on me.. horrible experience
They were great. I went in for my annual - everyone was kind and professional. The space was clean. I would definitely go back.
My appointment was @ 1pm , it’s 4:37pm and haven’t had nothing done , this was the worst experience, the people don’t even know how long the procedure is cause they kept telling me all different kind of times , so inconvenient ! I don’t even see the reason to make an appointment if they going to be HOURS behind !
Very unprofessional!!!! Been waiting for 3 hours and i had an appointment and the only thing they suggest is that you reschedule after waiting.I will never return to this center again!
Made me feel welcome
Drive up there for an hour and I didn’t get to have my appointment
I’ve been
The clinic failed to provide my requested patient records for over 3 months
My wife went there the check was 80, I made an appointment with urologist they say they have it, once there somebody come to check and say I have to go to one ? They charge me 125 for doing nothing, I complain they say is the price to talk to someone
Waiting time is horrible here… its normal to wait 40+ minutes even though you arrive early for your appointment.
Changed my views after todays visit. The people in the front were incompetent.Never coming back again.
Felt arkward... the receptionist were rude and inpatient. Only nice one was the Security Guard...
Pregnancy tests dont work for men still have zero information and they refuse return my calls.
Love going here for primary care! Very kind staff and beautiful building
HORRIFYING EXPERIENCE....STAY AWAY...THEY LEFT MY BABYS TISSUE INSIDE ME AND I ENDED UP IN THE HOSPITAL.
Apparently closed to walkins without an idea of when they wouldnt be... Useful to know on the site that they just dont accept walkins instead of getting here first!
Thank you to all the staff, they were patient and kind. Definitely I give 5 stars.
Tell me why does planned parenthood have security? Their service sucks!!! I drove 40min to get to this place just for them to deny me services. Please go elsewhere!!!!
The absolute worse service EVER. Appointment scheduled for 11:40am, I left at 12:45pm without being seen.
I would never tell anyone to come here other then one person most people act like everything is a inconvenience to them and never call for information because they will lie just to get you there
I had an abortion here where my child was ripped limb from limb, but the worst thing was they hurt me too.
I had really good experience!! Place so clean and staff very nice and polite
Very unprofessional Don’t Even Tell You What Your Paying For Just Take Your Money And Keep It Moving ! 👎🏾
Completely unprofessional all the way around! Safe yourself the trouble and go elsewhere.
They left me on hold for 30+ minutes and still wouldnt pick up the phone
Wait time is HORRIBLE, poor customer service
Very welcoming staff. Pleasant decor.
Rude guards.
Clinic representatives are frequently rude.
Great friendly service and staff.
Kind staff. Excellent care.
Such a nice environment!!!
Do not go here.
This location is trash and annoying
Great staff
This is what you call professional!!!!!!
Nice place!
Everyone was very kind 🥰♥️ Love this clinic, thank you for everything ♥️🥰
