The standard to which all others should adhere! This is hands down the best group/practice we have ever received care from for anything. OBGYN of Akron is truly a caring group of women who are fanatical about their patients and their families. The doctors are amazing, and their staff are world class. Our doctor was Dr. Van Beek for our third baby, and incredible isnt a good enough word to describe her. She cared about everything we asked, never made us feel rushed, and listened to every word we had to share. She even came to the hospital when she was not on call, just for us...and Im very thankful. The hospital staff instantly snapped into formation as soon as they found out she was our doctor. If youre looking for an OBGYN who will care about you and your family, you shouldnt look any further. Theyre the best. Thank you all at OBGYN of Akron for treating my wife like GOLD, being incredibly kind to our family, and being there for all three of our baby boys!
Incredibly grateful for this practice and Dr Van Beek! She is extremely thorough and cares so much for her patients. She wasn’t able to deliver my baby but made sure I had a fantastic team alongside me. Definitely recommend this practice!
Been with Dr. McGrievy & Dr. VanBeek for 14 years. They are wonderful! However, after todays visit, Ill most likely be looking for another practice. I waited an hour for the NP. I decided to leave. She didnt apologize. She just said ok as if I was being unreasonable. None of the staff apologized as I left. Side note: they rescheduled my appt and changed who I was seeing. This is very disappointing.
As much as I love Dr Ellis, the staff is the reason I have now found a new Dr. Every time you call they act like you are an inconvenience and are extremely rude. They say they will call you after receiving test results and you never receive a call. This has happened to me on multiple occasions and when YOU call to get results you are met with attitude and 0 accountability. I have overlooked it for years due to the love I have for Dr Ellis, but I wouldn’t recommend anyone to this office.
If zero stars were an option we’d go with that. This review isn’t towards all providers that practice here, just one and their supporting staff. It is there policy that if you “no show” 3 times they will drop you as a patient. They were advised by phone twice, that an appointment could not be made, then decided to drop me because “the doctor can drop anyone they feel like”. Calling in does not fall under a “no show”.They are not very sympathetic or understanding people considering I have a child that requires very specific care. Some times life changes on the fly and an appointment that can be rescheduled is not high priority over a child. If you are considering this office I’d highly recommend looking elsewhere for your care that not only follow their own polices but are more understandable.
I debated with myself about writing this but unfortunately it needs to be known so people dont waste their time and risk their health with the undeniable negligence from this office, youre of no value to them as a patient and they have no care for your well-being. This is the time where zero stars would be absolutely necessary if it were an option. For 6 years I begged practioner after practioner to do something about my chronic pain and irregular bleeding. First it was blamed on my gallbladder, great its out still in pain. Next it was well depo should shut this down so I dont know what to tell you. Next you need to see a pelvic floor specialist, nope fine there. Next you need pelvic floor therapy, nope released from that. I finally ended up in the ER because the pain was so bad I couldnt breathe without vomiting from the pain. Came to the office after the ER visit, they knew Id need an ultrasound but scheduled me when their tech wasnt there. Came back the next day and had it done. I waited 10 days and called 3 times before anyone called me back with my ultrasound results for pain I was still experiencing. 10 DAYS, 10 DAYS! And they called me after close on the 10th day which was a Friday, had I missed the call I wouldve had to wait another 2 days and likely wouldve had to call for results again. After all that waiting its a hehe Im so sorry our tech put your ultrasound in the wrong basket, which begs to question does your system not have a follow up check list even vets have follow up reminders in their charting, but again the pain was dismissed we talked about it and we just dont think thats the cause of your pain. While I waited those 10 days, I made an appointment with another care facility because the ER doctor told me to not delay care and I feared my pain was going to be dismissed again but I cannot continue to live in pain. In an hour, the new facility pulled labs and referred me to a surgeon for removal of my ovary, a freaking hour when Id been begging multiple practioners here to help me for 6 years! Needless to say if this ovary removal is the solution to my pain this practice will have a negligence/malpractice suit coming their way. And this doesnt even cover the nonsense I dealt with during my pregnancies. AVOID THIS PRACTICE AT ALL COSTS, FOR YOUR TIME AND WELL-BEING.
I never realized this place had such bad reviews and I debated sharing mine. Though I liked the doctor theres one thing that still haunts me about this place. I didnt realize it until after the test transV ultrasound was done that the tech didnt use a barrier on it. I was in shock to see after she pulled it out there was no barrier on it! She told me shell clean it! She took usually long, at least 30-40 min or more just talking and moving the probe... Weird...
After going to the same gyno for 15 years I had to find someone else after he retired. He delivered 3 of my kids and I was so scared to go to someone new with my 4th pregnancy. I was recommended Dr. Cecilia Ellis and I couldn’t be happier. She is one of the best doctors I have ever had. So compassionate, helpful and understanding. She goes above and beyond to make her patients feel comfortable and happy. Her whole office staff is fantastic, you do have to wait sometimes a bit for your appointment but that’s only because they cater to all their patients and make sure they are there for their deliveries. Dr Ellis is a god send! If I would have known about her before I would have switched doctors long ago!
Did not share important medical information regarding implantations within my body until 6 months after it was due to be removed. And now it is next to impossible to schedule an actual appointment to be treated. STAY. AWAY.
Waited for new patient appointment for months. I got a call today regarding my appointment for next week. The doctor I chose is no longer available for my appointment. Understandable, but they want to move me to the NP. The whole time the woman on the phone is short. I said no thank you, please get my an appointment with the doctor. After an exasperated pause, she said theyre booking months out. I said, even though you canceled? She said we didnt, you did. Had she not had an attitude the entire call, I may have been more understanding, but Im no thank you. I was a patient fifteen years ago and was never treated poorly, but obviously customer service is no longer a priority.
Dr. Van Beek is the absolute best doctor I have ever had. I wish she could be my primary care physician also! She’s so kind, patient, friendly, and really listens to your concerns and makes you feel like a part of your care team.
Dr Ellis was my doctor. Absolutely loved her. She always tried to answer any questions I had and always knew how to help me emotionally.I was a patient since 2010. She also delivered 6 of my children. I was dismissed from the practice for financial reasons. But tried to call to see if I could have her call me, maybe give me advice on where I could go. And the office was so nasty to me. They told me I was dismissed and WILL NOT SPEAK TO HER!! I dont understand how its against the law (so to speak) to talk to a former patient. And isnt there a thing called patient confidentiality?! Shouldnt it be up to her if she can talk to me.? All I asked was to leave her a message and I was looked down upon for being in a difficult financial position.
I go to this practice for my well-woman exams, and the experience is always good. Building is easy to access, lots of parking, large and comfortable waiting room. Staff is professional, efficient, and friendly. NP Jacquelin Burk has done my exam for the past few years, and shes excellent; she answers questions, explains what shes doing during the exam, gives a timeframe in which one can expect to get test results, and puts one at ease every time. I have also seen Dr Van Beek, who is personable and professional. Overall, Im quite satisfied with my service here.
I mentioned my concern for missed/delayed periods at 3 different appointments, when I finally asked for blood work and I was brushed off and told only if I missed another period. I was then told weight was my sole issue (and while I’m a little overweight at a size 12, I’ve been the same for years). Went to a new doctor who immediately ran blood work and found I was severely anemic. A month after supplements and periods are completely back to normal. The refusal of testing and lack of professional care from this office could have been detrimental to my health, as I was severely low on iron. Do not go here.
I am a new patient to this practice. It’s one of the best OB groups if not the best in Akron suburbs. I like to first start with Natalie, the patient coordinator. She is the most helpful patient coordinator I have ever talked to. Because of my special situation, I need to set up an appointment very urgently. She spent 20 minutes to set up everything for me. She is always ready to help me. I just feel she takes her job to the next level. There is a sense of care from her. I am also very very impressed by the Nurse Jacqueline, she is very very skilled and knowledgeable. She gave thorough answers to my questions or concerns. Dr. Ellis is my OB. I was in a complicated situation. She promptly referred me to MFM. She doesn’t sugarcoat but also very cautious about each step. The receptionist in MFM told me Dr. Ellis called few times to make sure I get an appointment as soon as possible. She followed up with me even she is on vacation. I only got this kind of care from Dr. Rebecca Flyckt with UH before coming to this office. I also talked to an on call doctor, she was so patient and treated me like a sister. You will get good care of you come to this office.
Dr. Ellis has been my doctor since I was 16 years old, she diagnosed me with Endometriosis. She also delivered both of my daughters, who are currently 18 and 20 years old. She also diagnosed my breast cancer at age 33, I cannot say enough good things about her or this office.Crazy to say this but I have always looked forward to my yearly appointments just so I could see her again and talk with her.The staff has always been fantastic and I would highly recommend this practice to anyone
Stay far away people! Make sure you get itemized bills and double check. They will harass and cancel all upcoming appointments for as little as $18 in unpaid balances
I absolutely love this practice. Personally, I see Dr. Mitchell and I cannot say enough about her compassion for her patients. She always makes me feel comfortable. Examinations are gentle, she is very understanding and I never feel judged on my mental & physical health. With my changes in insurance, she has been a life saver on finding the right solution. I personally, have never had issues with the staff. When I had my son, I felt I might be suffering from PPD and they quickly got me in to be seen and followed up with a phone call just to have a conversation about how i was doing. I recommend them to anyone and everyone.
ETA (2022): I now see Dr Van Beek here for my care, and she recently performed my salpingectomy. She is an awesome surgeon and a caring doctor. I always felt safe with her and her team, and the whole surgery experience was a breeze. They made something that is stressful as easy as they could, and Im very grateful.*I see Dr Mitchell here and love her. I went in to discuss menstrual problems and the possibility of getting back on hormonal birth control. The office is very nice, easy to get to, and good parking. All the staff were warm and welcoming, and definitely helped put me at ease.I really felt like Dr Mitchell listened to my concerns, and she has a gentle exam technique. I was sent for further testing (done at their office, which was convenient), they found a polyp, and I was then scheduled for surgery. Dr Mitchell does surgeries herself so I had great continuity of care. Well, I just had the surgery on Monday and it went very well! Dr Mitchell was so comforting and warm with me (she even held my hand as I was going under anesthesia!) and helped assuage my fears.I am very happy with the level of care I receive at this office. I would recommend Dr Mitchell to others without hesitation.
I see Dr. Van Beek and she is absolutely amazing, I have only great things to say about her. Shes attentive and spends time talking through issues and concerns with you even though shes insanely busy. The one-star review is for my experience with the nurse practitioner Jackie, and a nurse who collected blood work at the Graham Rd. location. I had an appointment with Jackie when trying to figure out why I was experiencing some symptoms. She disregarded my concerns about excessive hair shedding, saying my hair looked fine. In regards to pelvic pain, her answer was just to take Advil every day. And in regards to the painful inflammatory acne I was experiencing: she said if I was concerned about being a beauty queen, I could either go back on birth control or go see a dermatologist (which I had already done). At that comment alone, I almost lost it. The acne had been so painful and had made me so self conscious, I couldnt believe a medical professional would actually make a comment like that. Then when another nurse came in the room to take my blood work, she asked what I did for a living to make conversation. Her response to saying where I work got a response that was completely inappropriate for the setting. Completely rude and unnecessary comments from both staff members. Outside of Dr. Van Beek herself, one gets the impression at this office that feminine issues outside of pregnancy are unimportant and often get pushed to the back burner. Ill never go in for another appointment with Jackie.
Dr. Brittany Van Beek is a phenomenal doctor. Her wait times are appropriate and her clinical skills are comfortable and without question. Her most valuable asset to me is her empathy. When you are happy and excited, she is excited. When you are anxious, she is soothing. When you are in pain or your heart aches, she will suffer and be sad with you. I think of her more as my friend than one of my physicians.
Alright ladies! Here is what made me leave this office: I was called for the second time to reschedule my annual appointment (which I needed for a condition I absolutely must monitor/assess annually). They wanted to schedule me SIX MONTHS after my original appointment was supposed to be had. I was told that none of the doctors could see me until 2019. Literally. Also be aware that if you are not pregnant, they will give you to the nurse practitioner. She is a nice lady, but she was rushed during all of my appointments, and also canceled two appointments on me within two months time. If you are planning to become pregnant, make sure you schedule an appointment before you conceive, because thats the only way youre going to get into this office. For what its worth, I contacted the first other gyno in my insurance network, and they are seeing me in 2 weeks. This office needs to reassess their standards, their scheduling policies, and the amount of patients they can handle.
Called at least 7 times during business hours, they did not pick up. I left a message after calling. The voicemail box says they will get back to you by the end of the day, they never got back to me.I called early on the next morning just to get the voicemail once again. I called once more and finally someone named Rebecca picked up.I asked if they were booking because I am new to the area, she tells me they are booking into OCTOBER for new patients. October! Mind you, its April.I asked for recommendations for different offices since I am new to the area. She refused to give me any and kept telling me Id have to check with my insurance.Very unhappy with how unresponsive, unhelpful, and rude the front desk staff was.If this is any indication of how the medical staff would have treated me, Id say I dodged a bullet.0/5 stars if I could give that.
I absolutely love this practice. They are so thorough and so compassionate, incredibly knowledgeable. I haven’t met a single person there I didn’t feel 100% comfortable around. I will always bring my pregnancies here and continue going for my personal health. If I could give them 10/5 stars I would!
Had to continuously push them to actually care and work to help me with my pain. I was rushed into a surgery without getting all the testing I should have had, and then was informed 4 days after my surgery that my gyno/surgeon was leaving the practice the next week. If I knew that prior to the surgery I would have cancelled, but they withheld that information from me until after. Felt very little empathy and care there and felt very taken advantage of.
I would never recommend that anyone go to OBGYN Associates of Akron. The staff are so-so. Some are friendly while others are rude. Whenever I call to speak with a medical assistant, its always a gamble and I cant tell you how many times Ive had one try to argue with me over where I want MY blood work to be done. (I get free blood work at my place of employment but the medical assistants always seem to have a problem with it when I wont have it done in their office or at one of their preferred locations; however, Dr. McGrievy never had a problem with it.)Also, the scheduling is ridiculous. I used to be able to call and get in fairly quickly, but the last time I called to schedule an annual exam I was told they had no openings for 8 months. My biggest complaint is that even though I was a high risk pregnancy who had been a patient of theirs for YEARS, they refused to even schedule an appointment with me (when my doctor wanted to closely monitor me), because of a balance on my account that I could not afford to pay. I had offered to make payments but they wanted the balance in full and threatened to send it to collections. If a place is going to deny a high risk pregnancy treatment due to a balance that was unpaid, when I offered to make payments and try and work together, they clearly are all about the money and less about the quality of care given to patients. With that being said, I found a new OBGYN who has had no problem getting me in the office quickly and doesnt mind me getting any lab work done for free elsewhere. OBGYN of Akron has terrible customer service skills and they are money hungry!
We were scheduled for our first appointment and arrived 5 minutes early. Unfortunately our specialist was called into delivery and we had to reschedule. Totally understandable, not an issue at all. However, the receptionist who explained this to my wife was abrupt in explaining this to us. Also, she seemed to be scowling the entire interaction. She offered only one possible date and time to reschedule (as if everything in our lives would custom fit that exact date because she felt it should). After we checked our schedules and accepted that date, my wife asked if we could see someone else. The specialist we were seeing was recommended to us, but we were not attached specifically. My wife was interrupted multiple times while trying to explain this and throughout the other moments she spoke. During one interruption the receptionist chided us for not arriving on time. With confusion, my wife asked when our appointment was scheduled for. The receptionist informed us that 12:15 was the correct time, but we had arrived at 12:10. All our paperwork was completed ahead of time, and no one asked us to arrive earlier. When I mentioned this to her , she brushed it aside, asked someone else in the office to take care of us and left quickly.I understand this is not the fault of our specialist and we plan to return. My hope is that this will be addressed so that other first time mothers will not be left feeling insecure and/or discarded the way in which my wife and I felt.
If you ever get to see a practitioner they are nice but mostly you get bounced from one MA to another and there is absolutely zero intra-office communication. Dr. Ellis bedside before and after surgery were amazing and therefore earned another star. However, they turned an already awful and painful experience and made it so much more stressful, not to mention expensive. So very disappointed. At least the receptionists is kind but a nice office staff does not substitute for good patient care.
Customer experience!!! This was my second annual visit. Shannon at the front desk was very rude to me. She’s Lacks professionalism and patient courtesy. First off, I had never had a primary obgyn. I was first seen by Jackie a nurse practitioner, which was fine—she was very pleasant and made me feel comfortable. Unfortunately, I had to visit a couple times after an Jackie was out on leave for surgery. So, at the time of scheduling my follow up appt. I asked if I’d be seeing the dr because Jackie was out. Shannon said well no dr Ellis is very busy we have you scheduled with someone else (whom I can’t remember). At that point I requested that my next appt be with dr. Ellis That’s when Shannon’s tone and demeanor CHANGED. She was reluctant to schedule me with the dr saying she has no availability for several months I said that’s fine I’ll make it work. She the. added in a snarky tone that I’d have to pay immediately—I replied that’s fine. Needless to say I saw dr Ellis several weeks later. I told dr Ellis then if it’s prtocol for the receptionists to give push back when wanting to see her. All in all she said absolutely not and tried to smooth it over. I also asked about results over the phone. She said that I could leave a message for her or Jackie only to call me or schedule and appointment to come in. I was okay with her responses. Dr Ellis has GREAT bedside manner! From there it was time to schedule my annual for the following year. I specifically asked to be scheduled with dr Ellis. I arrived today—w/out my Id card, I asked could they look it up Shannon responded they’re gone for the day. i stood there trying figure out what to do. She then says you have two options u can pay for the appointment out of pocket 130$ and bill your insurance yourself or reschedule. Frustrated, I go to my car searching for my cards and I call medical mutual. The 1st rep sends me a link to download the app it didn’t work. I go back to Shannon she says well I have 15 min grace if you can get it to me by then. I called again the 2nd rep agrees to fax it directly. as I’m talking with the rep, Shannon interjects if you’re sending it to the email (what email I have no idea) it’s not going to works it’s an old email. I said the rep is faxing it to you. I explain to the rep would like to speak with her to verify my info is up to date and fax is on the way Shannon refuses to speak with her. By this time I have 3 min and I’m reminded that by Shannon. The rep hears the conversation between Shannon and I and apologizes. After all she offered to speak with Shannon so that I could get in. I hung up and proceeded to tell Shannon how unprofessional she’s been and rude she’s treated me since my first visit. Her retort is SO ARE YOU! I said u don’t know what pp are going through and it’s not what you say it’s how you say and your tone and deamnor are so wrong and offensive. She asked me to leave and I refused until I was done telling her how I felt and she tried to closed the window on my fingers in my face threatens to call the police. My mother’s been a patient there for a while and she knows I hate going to drs alone the whole process gives me anxiety my mom assured me dr Ellis office was more than good! I would not recommend this office mainly due to Shannon—she needs a course in customer service and effective speaking. But also because, they had a medical assistant give me results from previous testing over the phone and I could here ppl in the back ground—first of all you should be in a secluded area no around and it should always be the dr or nurse practitioner to do so. Needless to say I just buried two grandparents in two days of each other and had truly forgotten I had he appointment but still went only to go thru all of that and still not be seen.
I will never forget this place; this will be the first and last time my fiancé and I are cared for with this office. The lack of empathy is absolutely atrocious. Not one ounce of care was given to my fiancé, let alone any actual medical advice given. For first time parents, I’ve never felt more alone and with no guidance than I have felt these past 9 months. I don’t even know who the doctor is or what she looks like because I’m not allowed to be apart of any appointments scheduled here. There’s no worse feeling in the world than wanting to be part of something and being told that you can’t. What a sad excuse for a doctors office, you all should be extremely ashamed of yourself. When my fiancé calls because she’s concerned about possible labor pains, she’s told that she’s fine and she didn’t bother to look at the paperwork provided. As if a piece of paper is going to tell her everything she needs to know. Never again!
Literally no one called me for an appointment reminder. Had two funerals to go too and called to see when my appointment was. Was informed i couldn’t be seen because of a no call no show policy when no one ever called to begin with and was told i need to go else where since my schedule is so hard when I’m available every first Monday of the month and every Friday. Really disappointed in this and wish the old staff was there from 10 years ago. Never hear of such a thing til now. Ridiculous.
I have had an amazing experience going here! My OBGYN is dr brittany van beak and she has always been so kind and empathetic. I have always felt comfortable having her as my dr! She is very encouraging and supportive- she made me feel so empowered and capable when I was having my first baby. She always takes the time to listen and make sure everything is okay! I definitely recommend dr vanbeak!!!! Im so thankful she was able to deliver my baby!I was able to get ahold of nurses and drs after hours easily when I needed to while pregnant. I had one time I mightve been in early labor and they directed me on going to the hospital and letting the hospital know I was coming in evennearly at midnight .Im so thankful to have found this practice and would love for dr vanbeak to deliver my babies again if I ever choose to have more one day.
I love this office. I am going to be a first time mom and they always answer all my questions and put my worries at ease. They always greet me with a smile and work with me when it comes to scheduling appointments around my busy work schedule. They go above and beyond to treat me like a valuable person in their practice. The staff is awesome and the doctors and PAs are very thorough and genuinely care!
I cannot say enough positives about the care I have received through this office. Dr. Cousineu was nothing short of amazing during my first pregnancy and the care Ive received from McKenzie, one the of the medical assistants is BEYOND any expectations I could ever have. So happy to be going through a second pregnancy with this group!
I was so privileged to be under the care of Dr.Ellis for my pregnancy and delivery. She truly is an excellent physician and goes above and beyond in how she cares for her patients! Her colleagues who have covered while on call have been great to work with also!
Dr. Lisa and everyone else in that office have been wonderful to me. Very professional and caring! They always make me feel comfortable and welcomed. Dr. Lisa gave me a partial hysterectomy and I cant thank her and her staff enough for what they did and still do for me. Thank you for putting an end to many years of pain. You all changed my life!
The staff is either really nice or extremely rude, They made my pregnancy appointments miserable, i dreaded going to them. Dr. Cousineau was never there, i got bounced between whoever was available for that day. They never have any appointment times open. When you call in with a question the nurses will make you feel stupid. They do not listen to how you are feeling or you needs. They will tell you that you are wrong and they know best. My ultrasound tech for my first scan of my baby had the wrong last name on it, the tech blurted out right in front of us that she wasnt going to change my name just because i got married ( i didnt get married, she added my name in the computer wrong). She refused to change it so now my first ultrasound has the last name walker on it. The place is just filled with some very miserable people. The location in downtown Akron had friendly staff and nice girls but the Cleveland massilion road location was miserable.
I’ve been seeing dr McGrievy for 7 years now! She was my first pick when deciding on a good OB to use and I never turned back. Dr Ellis delivered my daughter last year and it was a little scary since I was used to dr McGrievy, but dr Ellis was amazing and she made me very comfortable and was upfront with me which I appreciated. She made me feel calm when I had to get an emergency c section and she was quick to react when I tore my uterus and was losing blood. My incision was even so perfect that it’s now almost invisible 1 1/2 years later. The doctors in this practice KNOW what they’re doing and are very professional, kind, and helpful.
Do not go here. This is the worst doctor office I have ever been to. Every time I went for an appointment they tried to charge me what I knew and what my insurance verified I did not owe. They mistakenly coded an appointment, admitted their mistake and said they would fix it. It is now 9 months later and I received a bill saying I owe them hundreds of dollars my insurance says I should not owe. They have also previously said I do not owe this. Now they are saying it is not their mistake and I owe it. They refused to address the mistake because its Friday afternoon even though it was still during office hours. Beyond that, I generally received the worst service I have ever received from health professionals there. There is little bedside manner given by Jami King and many of the nurses. There are quality nurses there and Jacki is also very kind, but that is not worth the headache I have always faced dealing with their office staff and billing office. Save yourself hours of hassle and waiting on hold and find a different OBGYN.
I went here about 5 years ago for annual. when I did call another time for a non annual appt they were booked for weeks, so decided to get in sooner somewhere else. I mean who wants to wait to be seen for a problem. Now I was looking to possibly come back, but after reading so many horrible customer service reviews I will Not be. Let me add that its the patients coming there that pay the office staff salary and should then be treated with kindness, respect, and empathy! But I also fault the physcian owners that should be stressing better customer service from the staff they employ.
I have been a patient of Dr. Lisa Cousineau for about 20 years. She has been with me through numerous devastating miscarriages and happy births. I trust her and only her. She is compassionate, experienced, educated, and caring. She tolerates my toddlers at my appointments lol. I am so thankful for her. Without her I would not have my 3 baby boys and they are my world.
Dr. Ellis is great, but I’ve been going here for about 7 years and they’ve always been impossible to schedule with. I had something come up and had to reschedule my annual and their next opening is almost 6 months from now or 4 months from now if I want to meet with someone new. It’s always impossible to get in here, so I will be finding a new doctor that has time for their long time patients.
I have had some ongoing pain and issues I was desperately trying to figure out. I have a toddler in the middle of Covid…nothing is easy and shortly before my appointment (that took months to get) I got an email reminder that stated no children were allowed. I don’t have childcare and I am a Woman, going to an all woman’s group, and they won’t allow me to bring my daughter. When presenting that issue as my reason for missing my appt, they argued with me and said “well if you would have let us know….” In my opinion, don’t send an email that makes is seem impossible to get help. On top of delays, and twice trying to request an appointment online, never getting a response, only to be told those systems don’t work. They don’t seem to have professional communication sorted out and they certainly aren’t looking out for women. Shameful and an example of why healthcare for working mothers isn’t where it should be.
Jackie is INCREDIBLE. She explains everything to you confidently and compassionately. I would recommend her to anyone; especially if you want someone that will take the time to listen to you and care for you like a friend.
In the beginning was pretty ok, I was a new mom and didnt know any better.. I really enjoy dr. Ellis.. however she was forced to drop me bc I missed 3 appointments.. which I would take full responsibility for, HOWEVER I spoke with an employee about the last appointment i missed due to a missunderstanding about not being able to schedule anymore appointments bc I hadnt paid the balance, so I was under the impression I wasnt able to go to the last appointment. When I spoke with the individual, there was no mention about being dropped (and yes I knew the policy) and it was a month ago, I just received the letter which was sent out the 27th of December to drop me. Which i do understand the policy and why its there, but the communication wasnt there. And it mainly bothers me bc as moms sitting in that waiting room, being patient and being asked to see another doctor bc yours is backed up or had to deliver a baby, were expected to be understanding to everything, and understand that other moms need her. But when a miscommunication like this happens Im made to look like an idiot.. How about all of the times I sat there and waited for hours to just pee in a cup and u feel my belly, but by all means call me, tell me I cant have any appinemtns until I pay you, so I pay you and you drop me.
At this practice I felt like just a number. No one actually knew me. Very far into a pregnancy I think it was 30 weeks I was told 2 options I could either change insurance companies or leave (they decided they no longer wanted to take mine that I have had since the beginning). There was no other optiins period. On top of that I was told other practices might not take me because I was so far along. I easily found another doctor. He met with me in his office and talked over my care and asked me questions to get to know me. He told me he takes care of patients no matter what insurance they have. Then I went to my exam after.Basically the reason I wanted to share this is to let people know it doesent have to be like this. I think it is important to be cared for as a person. I want people to know they do not have to be a business transaction or just another number. You can find doctors who get to know you and care for you as a person not just the money.
Dr. Ellis here is my most favorite OB. She is so nice, professional. always be patient and really care about her patients. Unfortunately, I have moved to other state, will not have chance to choose her as my OB anymore. I highly recommend her!
Dr.mitchell is an AMAZING doctor the problem is her receptionists! Ive tried multiple times to get an appointment for the serious problem Ive been having theyve cancelled and made me wait forever! I came here for my first child and stayed because of how Dr.mitchell could make you feel comfortable even when youre in labor. The receptionists have horrible attitudes and are definitely the reason Ive decided to go somewhere else.
I went through my last pregnancy with this office and it was ok. One time they canceled my appt and didn’t even tell me until I got there which is a 40 min drive for nothing! Today I am very upset because I drove to my appt only for them tell me it was accidentally cancelled by a receptionist (saying it was “human error”). Then they told me I would not be able to see anyone else today! I think it’s the Office staff though, my doctor was great....but it can really cause unnecessary stress.
I’ve got nothing bad to say about this office. Dr. O’Shea is AMAZING along w/ all the other doctors i’ve seen when she wasn’t available. They’ve always made me feel safe and comfortable while in their care. Dr O’Shea delivered my sweet boy and I’m so grateful for that!! Also, all he ladies that work in the office have been super kind and helpful!!
I called to try and make a new patient appointment, they told me they arent accepting till october, when i asked what time in october they said that she didnt know and it may be longer, all i needed was birth controll, so i dont get pregnant but they are only accepting pregnant ladies as of this current time so unless your pregnant dont try and get an appointment here.
I just left an appointment , and wanted to take a moment to commend the staff at OBGYN & Associates. I have been a patient for eight years now. I was initially drawn to the practice because of the all female staff. It provides a level of ease and comfort knowing that my doctor can relate to my questions, issues, and experiences. I remained there because of the exceptional care I have always received. I am a patient of Dr.Cousineau. I have ALWAYS received very personal, immediate care and attention when needed. I have been contacted by Dr. Cousineau at home on several occasions. The office staff has always gone out of their way to assist me and make me feel welcome. They schedule (and reschedule) appointments, and have also followed up after appointments to monitor my condition. On occasion, I have been added to the schedule to address an urgent health need after a very long day for Dr. Cousineau. Not many patients are able to say that their doctor delivered their baby when she was NOT the doctor on call just to ease my anxiety. If I were a woman in search of an obgyn, ignore the previous post! DO NOT keep driving and avoid the divas. There are no divas here, just wonderful people. I have been nothing but pleased with the service I have received on all levels of this practice. KUDOS to Dr. Cousineau, Kristy and the rest of the staff.
Ok so my 1st appointment was today. I was super sick but I looked forward to the appointment. I got an ultrasound as soon as I got there. The tech was friendly and efficient. Next I met with an RN, MSN who was extremely knowledgeable and thorough. I was off to an amazing start, even though I was super emotional and sick I was actually looking forward to seeing the Dr. for some odd reason I just assumed she would be warm/ welcoming & talk to me about the little baby inside me.Welp she barged in. No knock or anything. She went straight to wash her hands and while washing them she asked me if Id met her before. I responded no. She then put her gloves on and told me to scoot to the bottom of the bed (for the Pap smear) she then asked if I had any kids, while I answered she put the instrument inside me and began the pap smear( she never once told me to relax, I will feel something cool, she just went at it! Lol) after she got all her samples shes washed her hands and said they will take care of you up front. She than began to walk out. As soon as she left she opened the door back up and said Im sorry do you have any questions of concerns?I responded Nope, not now super disappointed. Im a nurse and I get it. Mondays can be crazy but seriously?! I went to the check out desk and said I want a different doctor next time...! Told them she never even introduced herself.... the lady was extremely empathetic and told me to just give it one more visit and then decide. Not sure if Im going to do another visit or start looking for an obgyn.
I am a patient of Dr. McGrivey. She is a wonderful woman. I look forward to my appointments every month. I am on pregnancy number 3. She has always been patient and helped me understand my body. She always tells me before she touches anything private and is patient if something is painful. She helped me through labor and encouraged me to stick to my original birth plan I wanted. I am over the moon excited she will delivering this baby as well. I prefer the office on Cleveland Massillon road. The staff is friendly and polite and its wonderful to see familiar faces. Scheduling has never been hard for me. They are flexible and always find a spot for me. I highly reccomed you give Dr. McGrivey a try. She is professional and personable. Developing a positive relationship with your OB is very easy to do with Dr. McGrivey.
Dr Ellis is absolutely second to none. My wife saw her for all but her first pregnancy appointment (we tried a different Doctor which we do not recommend)Dr Ellis did an excellent job delivering as well.Do not hesitate to trust Dr Ellis, she really is the best.
I have 3 children, and used different doctors for each child. My last was with Maura OShea, and hands down she was the best! Fabulous attention to detail and compassion for my experience. You may wait a bit for appointments, but its WORTH it because they spend the necessary time with all their patients.
This was the worst experience I have ever had this is my first pregnancy and they have made it hell for me. I have been trying to get my medicaid approved during all of this and finally had done so and they backtracked all of my appointments except for 1 that they claimed was not covered for 100 dollars. I told them I was unable to pay that right now due to I havent been able to work during this pregnancy due to complications I told them I would pay as soon as I was able to. Mind you I have never had a doctors office harass me so much over a bill they would call me out about it every time I went in and would make me feel embarrassed if I was unable to pay. Well today I went in for my appointment and sat in the waiting room for awhile and as the nurse called me back to be seen the receptionist called out in front of everyone in the waiting room that she cannot take me I cannot be seen she then proceeded to call me up front to tell me that I cannot be seen if I do not pay this today. The waiting room was full and I was humiliated in front of everyone I left there sobbing. I am 30 weeks pregnant and I am never going back there. I have never felt important or like they cared but this was the final straw I would never recommend this place to anyone. The doctor always made me wait an hour to be seen and then would rush me out when she decided to come in. I dont usually do these reviews but this was out of line. I hate even giving them 1 star they dont even deserve that.
Dr. McGrievy is amazing. Always takes the time to answer any questions I have and listens to my concerns. Shes very informative and willing to work with me on what I want for a birth. I chose this OB office because its all women and my PCP recommended it to me for its care. I love this office and couldnt imagine having another OB!
Absolutely HORRIBLE office. They push their beliefs on you and do not listen to your concerns or care about how you feel about your own care. If you disagree with them you get dropped from their office so watch what you say.Be very up front with them about not performing additional testing because they will do what they want and not tell you about it at all. They feel when you click consent to treat that means they can do whatever they want to you and you have no say although you do have a right per their patient bill of rights to be informed of any procedure and decline it. I have filed a formal complaint against this office with the State Medical Board of Ohio becuase of this practice
Had my daughter in June 2014 with Dr. Ellis. 3 of my sis in laws Had a very good experience. They always call the day before the appt to remind me. One time when I was late they called to get me in later that day. Their 3 offices were very convenient.
I would like to give 1 star. However, my Dr is nice and good. So I’ll give 1 for her.The customer service is soooo terrible. I have very bad billing experience with them. They turns to be very rude if you have disagreements with them about the billing issue. Their price for the vaccine is way higher than the other place. If you have a very very good insurance, then you may can go. If you insurance is soso, do not go! They are money hunger!!
Dr. Ellis still considers episiotomies to be standard practice. In my first appointment with her, I asked what her episiotomy rate was and she said she didnt know. Since I knew, and had known for a full decade, that episiotomies werent recommended anymore and should be avoided, I assumed she did to and didnt push it. Well, she gave me one. Like a fool I trusted her judgement that I needed one. I didnt. I had already torn. She put me through over a year of physical pain, and even longer emotional trauma and pain from the extended recovery I had to endure as a result of that, and all because she clings to an outdated medical procedure that was only ever designed to treat women as machines instead of humans.
I had a visit with Sarah the PA today. She is an excellent PA and made me feel very comfortable! The office staff was also very friendly and efficient. I highly recommend Sarah and this practice.
Im not sure why they have a 3 star overall. My Dr. Is McGrievy. She is a wonderful Dr. Very polite, gentle, and thorough. Dr. Oshea delivered my babe (he came a week early and Mcgrievy sadly was away) Oshea was awesome she made the delivery very calm and relaxed and talked me through the hard moments. Both ladies are great and Id recommend them to anyone. Mcgrievy took the time to understand my other health issues, and monitored me the whole time. The ladies Jillian and Kate were always a pleasure to see too.
Dr. OShea is awesome! Always makes me feel comfortable and takes the time to answer all of my questions with realistic answers that dont just feel like some preapproved response. Office staff is always very helpful and friendly. I dont have much experience with the other doctors but have always heard great things from my friends who see them. Would highly recommend this office to anyone!
I have been seen at this office since April and I could not be more impressed by the bed side manner all of the staff have had with every visit Ive had. I am so thankful for the compassion they have showed me.
I would Highly recommend to NOT use this office I ALWAYS have an issue with them sending over invalid prescriptions, nobody there seems to be empathetic or do what they can to get a simple prescription request right. Dr Burke is amazing but the overall experience is horrible. I wouldn’t even waste time dealing with this office.
Dr Ellis is fantastic! I wish I could get an appointment with her every time I book five months in advance they call and cancel on me and tell me to see a different dr which I will never do, I have not had great experiences with the other Drs at the practice. Hopefully I will get into her soon I would Be sad to have to find another doctor!!
Do not go here if you are looking for a new doctor. I did not receive a reminder call for my first appointment - after explaining this in addition to having anxiety from my past medical history and experiences, I was told they were not going to take me as a patient and could not be rescheduled. I am so glad I avoided going there if this is the type of care I would have received.
My obgyn is Dr Ellis and she is absolutely amazing! My sister works with her as L&D nurse and recommended her for my last pregnancy and I am forever grateful!
Everytime I am in the office (sometimes years in between) I am always met with attentive and caring people. They really take the time to help. I would definitely recommend them to anybody.
Been going here since I was a teen. Always amazing service. Thank you Deb for making me feel so comfortable today during my ultrasound .
Top-notch. Outstanding care in a comfortable environment.
Dr. Maura OShea is such an amazing and attentive doctor! she is very upbeat and always happy to see you. shes is wonderful at her job!
I would give this place a 0 if i could....a year ago today i lost my first baby....no thanks to this office who i went to not knowing i was pregnant...the dr told me i had PID and that i told her i was getting married my partner and i had been failthful she lead me to believe he was cheating...had me in tears then gave me a shot for chlamydia and 2 days later i find out im 5 weeks pregnant.....then a week later i misscarry....never ever ever go here... Now a year later i called to find out what test they have of mine bc i got an email to who answeree the phone but the most rude receptionists who when i tryed explaiming why i never came back stated she cant help me with those issues...that she can either schedule or....so i hung up....just found out im not the only women who has been told we have an sti i hope this place gets burned down like the wendys down the road.
So upset with this place. They told me I had an std and had to do a painful procedure to make sure I didn’t have cancer from it. Well I went to a new gyno and guess what I’m clean I never had that std. this is not the first time they slipped up. They told my friend she had stds so she went to another doctor...she’s also clean. Don’t ever trust these people!
Tried to make an appointment, left multiple messages and never heard back. When I finally got ahold of someone they were incredibly dismissive and are booking out 4 months in advance.
It’s so sad to me when an amazing doctor has such rude and terrible office staff. So disappointed at the rudeness of the office staff after having years of such great care by my OB here. I will sadly be finding a new doctor.
I had my first baby delievered by Dr oshea. She is so nice and caring towards her patients. She made my journey of pregnancy and delievery really easy and comforting.Whole staff at clinic is really nice...keep it up guys👍
IF I COULD LEAVE A LOWER REVIEW I WOULD. MY FIANCEE HAS STRUGGLED WITH HER WEIGHT FOR HER WHOLE LIFE AND WE ARE TRYING TO HAVE A BABY. Dr. LISA COUSINEAU TALKED TO HER IN A VERY INSENSITIVE WAY ABOUT A VERY SENSITIVE TOPIC, DEMEANED HER, AND LECTURED HER, CAUSING HER TO COME HOME IN TEARS! SAVE YOUR MONEY AND GO ELSEWHERE.
I’ve been coming here since 2016 and highly recommend it. I always feel comfortable and have a pleasant experience each time.
My doctor is very competent, professional, courteous, and I feel very comfortable with the standard of care I receive here.
Had a positive experience today with a nurse practitioner who took time to listen, was knowledgeable, helpful, and I would recommend!
Love going to this office, the staff is always friendly and Dr. Van Beek takes the time to really listen to you.
Terrible communication. I would not suggest this place to anyone. Every medical assistant I talk to has given me the run around and no attempt at following up with me about anything. I have to call every single time to get my result updates. Terrible terrible terrible.
Staff was very polite. Dr took plenty of time discussing everything and was very thorough.
The receptionist literally hung up the phone in my face while I was trying to establish care with them with them.
Love the doctors. I don’t always love the office.
Everyone is so friendly & efficient!
Dr VanBeek for president! #ThatIsAll
Love this office.
