My experience at this Birth center has been incredible. You are given options and great recommendations, resources and care. From my first appointment by 10 weeks pregnant till now, postpartum, I know I made the right choice by choosing to get all my prenatal care and birthing here. I know who to call when I want to grow my family even more. Courtney, Alexis, Lauren, Liz and Ariel are all amazing at what they do here. Thank you so much for encouraging me and giving me more than I can ask for through this entire experience! 🩵
I had a wonderful experience at Allen Birth Center with the birth of my son. All the midwives and staff were professional and knowledgeable. I felt at ease from prenatal care to labor and delivery to postpartum. I felt heard and was informed of my choices at every step of the way. I highly recommend Allen Midwifery & Family Wellness for general women’s health, prenatal care and beyond.
I loved having my baby at the Allen Birthing center. The midwives were so helpful. They answered all my first time mom questions. They did all the normal blood work and tests I would have gotten done at a doctors office.I also loved that I was able to have an unmedicated birth. They worked with me during the labor process. They helped me try different positions and supported me well during the birth.I definitely would recommend them to anyone wanting to have a natural birth and great supportive care.
We cannot say enough great things about Allen Midwifery! The staff are all extremely caring, knowledgable, and professional, and are there for you every step of the way.Courtney rushed to the hospital very early in the morning to deliver our baby and we are so grateful to her for her guidance, support, understanding, and cheerful demeanor. We will definitely return for future pregnancies!
We just had our second baby at the birthing center and have had nothing short of amazing experiences. Courtney and Alexis were so helpful and supportive during my birth. We also had such a sweet and helpful nurse. Very thankful for this staff for making me as comfortable as possible.
This center isn’t just for birthing babies they also take care of post menopausal women! I’m 50yrs old and I had my well woman visit here with Amy, she is very kind and knowledgeable about the female body. She went over my blood work and gave me advice that has made a positive impact upon my health! She spent a lot of time carefully going over all of my labs. I’d highly recommend women of all ages to get their well woman exams done here.
I imagine I have a unique experience with this office, as I had experienced their care both in the center and at the hospital. I was able to have a beautiful and peaceful birth experience at the birthing center, thanks to the support and guidance of the wonderful midwives. Then, due to unavoidable complications with bleeding shortly after birth, I was transfered to the hospital under Laurens care. upon arriving at the hospital, I had to go into surgery. Having Lauren there was a huge comfort, and after surgery, my family and I were told by the staff, including the attending physician, that Laurens determination and medical expertise was the main reason I did not need an emergency hysterectomy. In the context of the birth center birth, I am so grateful for the serenity I was provided throughout the experience, and the emotional support and helpful options I was given during the moments I was struggling. In the hospital setting, when things went wrong, I am still so grateful for Laurens care. Having someone in the room that I knew understood my desires and was constantly advocating and fighting for me was invaluable. I know I owe the positive health outcomes of my emergency to Laurens care, and I consider myself blessed to have had this team through a scary experience. With my first I had a normal hospital birth without this team and that normal experience was emotionally much worse for me than the emergency situation that arose during this birth, because this time I went through the emergency with an expert that was calm, effective, respectful and caring throughout, so I had the comfort of always knowing I was in the best possible hands. Because of all this, i could not recommend this place enough
Allen Birthing Center is amazing! I toured this center back in 2013 when I was a nursing student. I knew then I wanted to give birth at this center in the future. In 2022, when my husband and I got pregnant, we knew exactly who to go to! We contacted Allen Birthing Center and we started receiving our care there. We got to meet all the midwives during our prenatal care and every one of them were very sweet, caring, and knowledgeable. We loved getting to know every one of them! When I went into labor, it wasn’t what I had planned. My little one tore my bag and my water started leaking. At that moment, we had 24 hours to birth my little one or I would have to be transferred to the hospital (Medical City McKinney). I contacted the midwife on-call (Eva) and she had me come in to start the labor process. Eva, Katie (another midwife), and the nurses were amazing and did everything they could to help me progress! The center is a beautiful and amazing place to labor at. Sadly, at the 24 hour mark, I only progressed to 6cm and we had to get transferred. This was a huge fear of mine, as I was terrified the hospital would pressure me to get a C-Section. The midwives guaranteed me that they would do everything they could to not have me get a C-Section (unless it was medically necessary).Once we arrived at the hospital, the hospital staff, were very sweet and caring. Since I was a birthing center transfer, they knew I wanted to do things as natural as possible. I did have to start Pitocin to help me progress, but they did start off low and slow. Eva (the midwife) did follow us to the hospital and continued to be my provider. I am so grateful for that!! I truly believe she was the reason why I didn’t get a C-Section. After 45 hours of labor (including Pitocin, an Epidural, and 1.25 hours of pushing), I got to meet my beautiful son. The midwives are the most amazing advocates and they did everything in their power to help me in my labor. I loved that Eva got to catch my son as well!If you are wondering if having a midwife as your provider or receiving care at a birthing center is the right decision for you, I would definitely recommend it! I truly believe that if I would have received all my care with an OB and started my labor process at a hospital, I would have gotten a C-Section. Thank you Allen Birthing Center for everything! I definitely will be using y’all for my next pregnancy (and hopefully I will be able to give birth at the center next time as well)!
I started going here to receive my annual well woman visit and the entire experience was 10/10. Everyone from the front desk and scheduling to checking in and meeting the providers was exceptional. Everyone is kind, courteous and truly a joy. Such an amazing experience from beginning to end. Amy is incredibly personable and just so real with her patients. They truly care and show it in every aspect of your visit. I would highly recommend anyone coming to her for any care, especially your yearly well woman appointments. Midwife’s see the best!!
Had the most amazing overall experience with Allen midwifery. Without Courtney and Annie I’m not sure I could have made it through the last contractions. During the prenatal care visits I never felt rushed and always had time to ask ample questions. At an OB office you always have only 15min with the doctors and it’s so impersonal. Also no vaccines or other medical decisions were made without my consent. I always disliked hospitals pushing all this testing and probing. Also the in home after care visit is so amazing, hospitals can never offer that kind of care. This is how birth should be. Cost was about $5k all inclusive with my insurance.
Had our daughter here Nov 2023 and had such an amazing experience. This was my second birth. I had a relatively good hospital experience the first time with my OB but I am so glad I went with the midwives and birth center this time!! The midwives were so thoughtful and helpful in educating me in my nutrition throughout pregnancy and I learned so much more than I did with my first pregnancy. The midwives really take the time to discuss your symptoms and health history with you. And the birth was wonderful. So peaceful and I loved having the speaker to play calm relaxing music in the bedroom. Loved having a water birth too. The birth assistant Debbie helped me walk through my contractions and labor which was really the best thing for me (I love walking, not so much into other labor positions). This really sped up labor and my baby girl was born only about 2-3 hours after I arrived to the birth center. They were constantly checking baby heart rate throughout labor and confirming that all was going well for both me and baby so I felt very sure I was in good hands. Lauren was the midwife at my birth and also amazing! She assisted me in breathing and positioning as I pushed. Overall was just such a positive experience and Im honestly a little sad to done going there now. But I have a healthy little baby girl and had such a wonderful positive birth experience there. Will definitely be going back in the future!
I had a great experience with Allen Midwifery! The midwives listened to me and supported me in achieving my goals for pregnancy and delivery. Throughout my pregnancy, they were very informative, but gave me options and let me make decisions as much as possible.
I’ve had two of my babies here and absolutely love them. Courtney Watson went above and beyond when my daughter was in the NICU. She also attended the birth of my son and was so supportive and knew exactly what I needed. Highly recommend!
I originally came to Allen Midwifery to follow my midwife Courtney. Who is absolutely amazing and during my pregnancy I got to meet Lauren and Katie who are also amazing. Every at Allen truly treats you like family, they truly listen to your concerns. I ended up have to delivering early due to preeclampsia and Everyday I was in the hospital to be monitored one of the midwives came daily to check on me. When it came time to deliver via c-section Courtney was in the operating room with me the entire time which gave my husband and family a piece of mind. There is not a better place I could recommend to anyone who is pregnant.
I am so thankful to be a woman and to be able to birth children, what a miraculous blessing from God! Allen Midwifery helped make motherhood what its meant to be a miraculous empowering experience that I would love to relive again and again and again. I felt so free to make my own choices from start to finish and have the experience that I wanted; free from negative pressure from the hospital system, a doctor, or my health insurance.Everything went wonderfully and just as planned- thank you Allen Midwifery for making my birth experience such a perfect one! Shout out to midwife Katie Youngblood and our nurse Debbie; they were both so calm, attentive, and knowledgeable.
I don’t even know where to begin! My birthing experience with Allen Midwifery far exceeded my expectations. Giving birth naturally was the hardest thing I’ve ever done, but the intimacy provided to me and my husband made it all so worth it. I gave birth in the hospital with my first child, and there’s absolutely no comparison. Eva, Letitia, and Debbie were all so calm and kind, constantly encouraging and comforting me. Eva is so detailed and educated me each step of the way.Not only was my birthing experience so wonderful, but my appts as well. I never felt rushed and was provided ample time to ask questions. Eva, Courtney and Lauren are wonderful, and they all recommended such helpful things to prepare my body for natural birth. I can’t begin to express how thankful I am for such a wonderful experience.
I initially came to Allen midwifery and family wellness to follow my midwife Courtney Watson. I immediately fell in love with this office. They are so efficient in every way and environment is so peaceful. Courtney took her time on every appointment with me, I never felt rushed. She answered all of my questions and prepared me in every way possible to have a successful natural birth. She turned my self-doubt into confidence. Everyone there is so welcoming and patient. Especially, on the days I had to bring my daughter with me. She loves going to the “yellow house” to play and find her best friend Liz lol. They allowed her to be so involved in my appointments, which made her so excited to meet her baby sister. My birth was such a magical experience from start to finish. I still can hardly put it into words. Courtney talked me through each contraction and reminded me how strong I was. While my doula and partner comforted me. I felt heard, seen, and encouraged the whole way through. It was such a beautiful and peaceful experience. Even the postpartum care was so personal. You can really feel the love that this staff has for their clients. I will be forever be grateful for Courtney and her team. Everyone here truly feels like family and I will miss them! Until next time 😉🩷
My birth was wonderful. They accepted me as a late patient. They are trained for in hospital births if needed with an affiliated hospital a short distance away. They are very respectful of the mothers desires in how they want their birth conducted. They also have interventions to support and navigate thru contractions/labor. I loved my physical autonomy. They have so many resources for doulas, birth coarses, home births, parinatal/baby chiropractic, products to support your body in pregnancy, labor and post partum. Besides my birth, my other favorite thing they did was conduct an at home post birth visit for your follow up appointment. I felt so supported, educated, and empowered. I will be birthing and having my wells woman’s examinations with them. Highly recommend and so excited for more births with them :) and they accept late applicants as I was moving to Texas at 24 weeks.
I was really hoping to find a place for wellness visits for my whole family, however during my first visit I was referred out for a mammogram and then diagnosed with breast cancer but never received a call or follow-up regarding any of my results. A simple phone call would have been nice advising of next steps but instead I was just forgotten 😞
I have been putting off writing this review for three weeks now. I will not be able to put in words how thankful I am for everyone who helped us along the journey of my daughter being born. From the very beginning they were patient, calm and compassionate. We had the pleasure of speaking with the majority of the midwives at some point and they all played a special part in this process. With that being said, Katie delivered our daughter. I will forever be grateful that Katie was there during my daughter’s delivery. She will have a special place in our hearts and forever be part of our story! Thank You!
I recently saw Jessica for a health check. As a man (this is Heathers husband) planning to go to a birth center for healthcare felt like an odd thing. Once there, my concerns were completely alleviated. Not only was the entire staff welcoming and professional, Jessica was the most thorough healthcare provider that I have seen in years. Jessica provided an environment where I felt comfortable discussing concerns and where I was not rushed. The advice she offered to help improve my health, after her thorough exam and labwork, have been implemented and I am already feeling better. Jessica and the birth center will be who I will turn to from here forward for care.
I appreciate the care that Ive received at Allen Midwifery both through the birth of my second child and my well-woman care since. When Ive gone in with concerns, Ive always been listened to thoroughly and given sound and balanced advice and care!
My daughter & son came to get their baby delivered. This is a nice place & seems like nice people. We were there for 8 hours after had already being sent home because they wanted her to contractions to be 4 min apart instead of the 5 min. They walked her around several times. But what makes me give this place low ratings mainly is that her water broke before they made her walk for the last time. It wasnt just having her walk, but having her walk down a 2 flights of stairs around the building & then back up the 2 flights of stairs!!!! How is that safe for a mother in labor & child to be going up & down stairs during delivery. We ended up having to rush to the hospital to deliver the baby because they couldnt get her blood pressure down by natural means. I understand why some people would want to do this & Im not condemning anybody that wants to deliver their child this way. But, watching that type of safety issues would make me have grave concerns, if I knew ahead of time that they would have my daughter & grandson doing that!
I had a fantastic experience birthing at the Allen Birth Center. After birthing my first child in a hospital, I knew I wanted a different experience for my second. Going into labor with my second was a little scary due to the traumatic experience with my first but the midwife and nurse on call helped elevate my fears. They helped guide me through the process but never pushed anything on me I wasn’t comfortable with. They made the birthing suite feel very peaceful and safe. Unfortunately my doula never showed up (she was not affiliated with the Allen Birth Center. I hired her on my own) but the nurse on call was so fantastic that I didn’t even need the doula. I delivered a perfect baby girl within hours without any complications. I am so thankful for the ladies at this facility.
I had such a positive experience with AMFW! After having my first baby in a hospital setting I knew I wanted my second pregnancy/delivery to look different. AMFW exceeded all of my expectations and gave me the personal attention and support that I was hoping for as a patient. My husband, who was less sure about switching to a birthing center, was amazed by how relaxed and happy we felt during our delivery and now he AMFW’s biggest fan! Would highly recommend this facility to everyone.
Best place to have a baby!!!I had a med free hospital birth with my first born with Courtney Watson as my midwife and I couldn’t have been happier… until I learned she’d left Adriatica for Allen Midwifery. Then a natural birth at the birthing center with Courtney as my midwife became my best birthing experience ever. From my first appointment after leaning I was pregnant again, it was clear this was going to be a different experience than you find in a regular medical office. The appointments are relaxed, you never feel rushed and you feel genuinely cared for. Although our family is complete, I will never go anyway else for my continued annual checkups as long as I’m local!!!
I delivered my first baby here back in June and my entire journey from welcome visit to postpartum visits was G-R-E-A-T! I literally cannot think of a better experience. I was so scared of natural unmedicated birth maybe because noone around me had one but they helped me educate myself with childbirth courses, suggested a great doula and always encouraged me to ask as many questions as possible. And I had a waterbirth just as I imagined and planned. I never felt rushed during any visits. The entire staff is incredible, everybody is so lovely and motherly! They laughed and cried with me during and after birth. I really have a connection with this yellow house and the people in it now! Cant recommend enough.
I have went through a miscarriage and a birth with Allen Birthing Center. The team is absolutely great. During our miscarriage with our first, they showed they cared with one of the midwives calling to check on me and a card mailed to my home. With our full term pregnancy, I developed high blood pressure at the end and the team took every precaution to make sure we were safe in a natural way. Our birth was an amazing experience. Our nurses and our midwife were phenomenal. We knew we were in good hands. You are not just a number at the birthing center.... you are an individual. You can tell that the team loves what they do and they take great care of you. We plan to use them with every pregnancy and would recommend them to any of our friends. We love ABC!
I couldn’t have asked for a better birth experience for my first child! So grateful to have had Eva as my midwife at delivery and also for the wonderful pre and postnatal care at Allen Birthing Center. It was well worth the hour plus drive from Fort Worth for us! We’ll forever remember Eva as part of the beginning of our story with our daughter :) thank you to everyone at Allen birth center!
Wow, was ABC the sweetest birthing experience. After having a medication free hospital birth with my first, my second birth at ABC was a night and day difference. The care was so personal and empowering from start to finish. And the actual labor and delivery was as peaceful and comfortable as birth can be. I had a water birth (never considered one really until I was in the tub giving birth 😂) and loved how flexible the whole experience was. After feeling very alone and unsupported with my first birth, it was amazing to have a team of women speaking so much life and support over me throughout my second birth. And the postpartum care was amazing. I will 100% have any future births here and cannot speak highly enough of the whole team and experience.
On October 14th my daughter gave birth to her first child, a precious healthy boy. I was blessed to be with her and her husband as her doulah. The midwife and nurses were amazing. I had complete confidence in their expertise as they guided her through the birthing process and appreciated their kindness. The rooms and birthing accommodations truly help make the experience as comfortable as possible for all who are taking part. For anyone considering a natural birth I highly recommend you choose this birthing center. Thank you Maisey for taking wonderful care of my baby as she welcomed hers into the world.
Competent and caring! All of the midwives are certified nurse midwives with a masters degree or doctorate, which means they are extremely knowledgeable and well trained for every birthing situation. I had both of my children here and have referred countless friends and family members here. They all had the same amazing experience that I did. They truly care about giving you the birthing experience you want, while ensuring you have a healthy pregnancy and delivery. They are very organized with their scheduling and are timely for your check up appointments. They give you hand outs and emails to keep you informed on what to expect at appointments, as well as when to begin natural regimens to prepare you for delivery. I love their natural approach and trust them in all of their recommendations.I had the privilege of having Amy and Kristen for my births. I cannot truly explain how wonderful both of these women are. My husband and I both agree that you feel a great amount of comfort during the labor process because you know they they will do what is best for you and your baby. They are calm and confident in their decisions and they help empower you to do the most amazing thing possible: birth your baby! Their birthing suites are peaceful and beautiful. I was able to give birth in the same four poster bed for both of my babies (I think that is so cool!). Because of their guidance, I had minimal to no tearing and had a fantastic recovery. They also do a lovely herbal bath after birth, which I think helped me heal and felt lovely. All of their staff is helpful and kind, from scheduling to billing. I had Diane for both of my babys post partum home visits and we loved her also. She is very experienced and never makes you feel rushed.I am so thankful that I will be able to continue my relationship with them for my well woman exams. I would be sad if I never got to see these women again!
Found Allen Birthing Center after my nurse practitioner-midwife relocated. I have to say that my visit with Lauren was the BEST experience I have ever had during a well-woman visit! I learned a lot and feel I received a superior level of care - she checked things that have never been checked before (like lymph nodes)! Even though I am past the child birthing years, I am SO delighted they offer well-woman services. Josephine also made me feel welcome. Highly recommend!
I transferred to the birth center mid pregnancy and received the upmost of care. My previous OB was okay but wasnt the experience at all that I was hoping for, definitely felt like a number in line. After transferring care to ABC I felt like my experience and my pregnancy was just as important to them as it was to me. I felt like I was in control of and supported in my decisions, was never pressured or rushed and was always given evidence based information. I felt all my questions and concerns were always addressed with care. When it came time to birth my son Rebecca, Nellie and Liz/Elizabeth were my incredible labor and delivery team. Without them my empowering natural birth might not have been a possibility. These women are true to their calling and they are masters at providing the exceptional support that is needed when your whole body and mind is wrapped up in the life changing experience that is labor and birth. Rebecca was amazing at keeping me focused and centered, and making sure I knew what to do and that I could do it. There were times I wanted to give up but the team, my best friend and my husband pulled me through and we had the beautiful water birth I had always hoped for. This experience has been completely life changing for me and my husband, we are honored to have had this opportunity to give birth to our beautiful baby boy here.I would absolutely go here again if we decide to have another baby in the future. If you are wondering (like I was) about how private the birth rooms would feel during business hours, dont worry. You will feel like the world doesnt exist outside that room.I also found the cost to be extremely reasonable and worth every single cent, and was a self pay patient.Shout out to all the wonderful midwives and nurses here. Janice the receptionist is also wonderful as is their billing department.Although I didnt get to birth with her, Maisey is a wonderful midwife that I had seen frequently also. Debbie who is a nurse is also very sweet and encouraging. You will not regret choosing Allen Midwifery and Birth Center!!
Oh my goodness -- Allen Birthing Center is wonderful! We just had our first baby at ABC about 8 months ago. So, Im not able to compare it to any other birth/delivery, but I would strongly encourage any mama-to-be to look into ABC! They have some of the warmest, most caring staff you could imagine. And they provide the best balance of educating and coaching, but also empowering mamas to make informed choices about their delivery! It also doesnt hurt that the birthing rooms look and feel like a cozy BnB :)
I was blessed to have both of my babies at Allen Birthing Center, a daughter in 2010 with Amy and Debbie, and a son in June with Carol and Nelly (I do have to mention that Amy, Monica, and Debbie were also there during labor with my son due to timing). Even though I was not able to have my daughter in water, due to various factors, it was an amazing experience and I felt so supported by both Amy and Debbie the whole 24 hours of labor. I had to wait 7 years for the birth of my son, but this time, I had an incredible experience delivery him in water. Again, the support I felt from the midwives and nurses on call that night in my 9 1/2 hours of labor was awesome! The staff at Allen Birthing Center make you feel like you are part of their family and I look forward to my well woman exams just to catch up with everyone! Thank you ladies for everything!
My wife and I had our baby here in September and absolutely loved the experience. All of the staff were exceptional, knowledgeable, experienced and caring and they were always available to answer any questions my wife had. We worked with Rebekah the most and had the luxury of having her during our delivery. She was so gentle, encouraging, engaged and knowledgeable. We cannot recommend her or the entire staff enough! Overall the experience was great. From the appointments, to the birth, to the home visit and follow up care, we couldnt be happier with ABC! We will definitely be using them again in the future.
I have been so fortunate to have both of my baby girls with the Allen Birthing Center. My first was is 2015 with Carol and Debbie. The second was in July with Amy and Diane. My most recent delivery I had a postpartum hemorrhage and Amy and Diane jumped into action and got it resolved. I felt well taken care of and trusted them completely. Debbie came to help keep an eye on me after and got us ready to go home. She has the most calming voice and couldnt be sweeter.Diane came to my house on a Sunday to do a home visit. We just love her!You are well taken care of as soon as you walk in the door and are greeted by the sweet Josephine, she always has a smile and is very helpful. Janice was my insurance whisperer. She gave me step by step instructions on how to deal with my insurance co. to cover the services. I could call her with any questions and she was very knowledgeable and easy to get ahold of.All the midwives are so sweet and personable. They really take the time to answer any questions you have and you never feel rushed.I highly recommend them!
3 of my 4 children have been born here. I truly love the personalized care. I have never felt rushed through an appointment and the midwives were always very attentive to my physical and metal well being.
I had a great Birthing experience with Allen Midwives. Courtney was a great deal of comfort and support during labor. Dr. Lauren was great with our baby in a follow up. All the midwives I saw during my pregnancy were great!
There arent enough words to describe how truly amazing Allen Birthing Center is. After touring the place I knew immediately that this was where I wanted to birth our first child. Unfortunately there were some complications that were beyond my control and I had to be transferred to the hospital at 39 weeks. While I mourned the loss of my ideal birth experience, the midwives were extremely supportive and let me cry on their shoulders for as long as I needed. I was concerned with being under the care of an unfamiliar person but Amy has admitting privileges at Baylor McKinney and was there for me the whole time. Jeannine, who is a nurse at the birth center and at Baylor McKinney, was also by my side while I was in labor. Even though I was in the hospital, I was still Amys patient and she and the nurses gave me every opportunity I could to birth naturally. It ultimately ended up being a C-section, but again, Amy was with me the whole time. She accompanied me to the OR and she was in the room with me and my family while everyone was meeting my precious baby girl. Even though I wasnt able to birth at the birth center, I was still extremely pleased with my prenatal care. Every single midwife there is over the top amazing. Should my husband and I decide to have more kids in the future, ABC will be the place we choose to go again. I love this birth center and all the staff and midwives. Theyre beautiful women who truly care about you.
My husband and I had our baby here in august of 2020 and started seeing them like 7 months prior. I felt like they were with us every step of the way, and being able to work with each of the midwives was amazing. I loved all 4 of them (and the rest of the staff) and once I went into labor, Rebecca and company supported and encouraged me so much!! It can be nerve wracking having your first baby, but I put all my confidence in them and my body and never doubted that we were in the best hands.
I cannot say enough about how wonderful our experience was with The Allen Birthing Center. We used them for our home-birth with baby #2. I always enjoyed my visits and how every midwife there took the time to answer my questions and get to know me. They didnt treat me just as another patient on their list. Id definitely recommend them to anyone looking for a midwife in the area!
Amazing staff! Extremely helpful, patient, and show they really care. My wife had a great first birth experience and they even came in on the weekend to ensure a health concern with my son was taken care of. Well definitely be using them again with our next child.
I delivered two babies with ABC and I could not be more pleased with the experiences. The midwives are fantastic and I felt well cared for during my pregnancies. I also love that they have hospital privileges just in case those services are needed. Hubby and I definitely want more children and we will plan on using ABC again.
Allen Birthing Center is home for my family and I. My son and daughter were both born at ABC. This center isnt even the cloest one to our home but we still decided to drive 45 mintures to ABC because everyone is awesome!!! Kelsey is the front desk assistant and she always has a smile on her face. All of the midwives are amazing!!!! I love that they rotate your appointments throughout your pregnancy so that you can get to know everyone. That way, when you go to labor you know the midwife that is on-call. :) Amy is the owner and she is the sweetest person you will ever meet. Everyone makes you feel like youve known them your whole life.My husband and I always wanted two kids so sadly we are done with ABC; but with my experience with them makes me want to have more children because I will miss them so much. :)Thank you ABC! You are the best and keep up the great work!
I truly cant express how amazing our experience was for the birth of my second child here. All of my prenatal checkups with (almost) every midwife on staff was great. I truly loved how comfortable they all made me feel at each visit. When it came to the actual labor and birth of my child, Kristen and Nellie were there and were absolutely incredible. I had a doula present (shoutout to Nikki Knowles with Dallas Birth Doulas), and all of them worked so well together to make the best birth team around.I could go on and on, but Ill wrap up my review here. Long story, short: have your baby here. You will NOT regret it!!
I could never truly express how wonderful the Allen Birthing Center was for the birth of my first child. I was a little scared about having a completely natural birth my first time around but the midwives and staff at ABC were incredible. I always felt like they were truly interested in getting to know me and my desires for birth with every visit. When my delivery day came and went, they were not pushy and watching the clock with impatience, instead I was given some natural ways to induce labor... after a week of waiting our daughter was ready to come into the world. Our birth was just like all of our visits leading up to that day. We were treated with respect, patience, kindness and gentleness. They were there to assist when needed and let my body and baby do what we naturally knew what we needed to do. I refer all of my friends and family to them and cant wait to have my next child there. They truly are the most amazing group of midwives and staff in the DFW area.
All 4 of my precious babies have been born either at ABC or at home with ABC and I cannot say enough good things about them! My first birth was rocky with post partum hemorrhaging but Amy and Kristen were able to get it under control without having to transfer me to the hospital. After that, it was put in my file and they worked with me during my next 3 pregnancies to prevent it and have measures in place in case it did happen again. All 4 pregnancies and births were so different but made perfect with the loving care that the midwives and nurses provided! They’ve become like family! They make me want to keep having babies just so I can have an excuse to go see them!
This is my wifes review as she doesnt have a google account-These ladies are simply the best!!!! Each one was so great in their own way that I think its best to list each separately (in no particular order):Amy: Amy is one of the sweetest most sincere persons I have ever met. She has the kind of presence that is calming yet extremely on point with an air of professionalism. During my prenatal visits with her she always impressed me by taking the time to ensure any and all questions were answered, with no sense of being rushed at all. I ended up being transferred to Baylor in McKinney after not progressing, and Amy was able to deliver my son. Additional issues arose while I was there and she was able to identify them acting promptly and confidently in ensuring me and my childs health while avoiding a cesarean. I absolutely loved having her there and she made the experience so incredible and memorable.Kristen: Kristen is just awesome. I saw her for the initial tour and for the wide majority of all my prenatal visits, and naturally got to know her the best. I was having prelabor signs for over a month before I delivered, and would call frequently after hours for guidance. Many of these calls coincided with when Kristen was on call, and she was always incredibly kind, patient, and knowledgeable with advising me on how to handle everything. No matter the time of day I never felt rushed on any of these calls as she would take the time to reassure me and adequately assess what was going on. She met with my husband and I on several occasions after hours during false labor, and came up with a great plan for inducing when my son was approaching the 42nd week, which helped to put my mind at ease. I really enjoyed all of my care with her.Carol: when I was progressing slowly during labor (only going 1 cm in 12 hours) and in a lot of pain from issues unknown at the time, Carol was literally a god send. I had told her I wanted to transfer for an epidural, and I was originally afraid of what her reaction would be as this is after all a natural based birthing center. She was 100% supportive in my decision, and acted immediately in calling the hospital for a transfer, even driving up there with my husband and I. Once we arrived, she took care of all the registration and made us feel so welcome and comfortable during an otherwise stressful time. She was seriously like an angel to me during this time and was incredibly empathetic/supportive and exactly what I needed. If I didnt say it enough at the time, Carol- thank you!!!!!!!!!!!Teri: Teri is seriously one of the most knowledgeable persons I have ever met. If anyone could inspire a woman about natural birth and our capability in doing so, Teri is it. I had the fewest prenatal visits with her (only two), but I also started off my labor process with her before the shift change and ultimate hospital transfer. Despite the brief amount of time with her compared to the other midwives, Teri left a HUGE impression on my husband and I. She amped me up so much on the fact that birth is something natural, primal even, and not anything to be afraid of. I even joked with her at one point how she could be a birth motivational speaker, because she truly makes you believe in your body and yourself. The sheer amount of knowledge she possesses too was nothing short of impressive, and I just loved all the time I got to spend in her care.Monica: Monica is the newest midwife so I didnt get any one on one care with her, but I did get to meet her briefly during one of my last visits with Kristen for an evening of false labor. I can already tell she is going to be a huge asset to the birthing center, as she simply exudes a calming presence and is one of those people who you know is just incredibly sweet. At one point during a contraction all she had to do was put her hand on my back and I immediately felt a sense of ease, as she just has this way about her. I wish I had gotten to know her more, everyone who will is ultimately very lucky.
Amy Giles and her team of CNMs and staff are just the absolute best! I loved all my prenatal visits in the quaint little historical house in Allen. They are all so compassionate and knowledgeable, they really care about how you are doing and feeling along the way not just physically but emotionally. Wish they did VBACs outside of hospital so I could still birth with them.
This place is incredible! After giving birth to my first two children in a hospital, and having awful experiences, I knew I needed to find something different. The staff and environment here are so welcoming, you instantly feel comfortable. I had two wonderful births here and wouldn’t have changed a thing! They are very focused on giving you the birth you want, while keeping you as healthy as possible through your pregnancy and beyond! 10🌟
Ive wanted to birth here ever since shadowing Amy at 16! It was such a full circle moment when my daughter was born in the exam room I decided to pursue midwifery in almost 10 years ago! The care, compassion and love of ABC is unparalleled. I love that its a family run business (husband and wife) and that the staff also is like a family. If you need a place to birth, or even a well woman exam, this is your place!
I CAN’T SAY ENOUGH WONDERFUL THINGS ABOUT ALLEN MIDWIFERY!!!! They gave the most incredible, personalized care through pregnancy with my second baby, including guiding me through having Gestational Diabetes. I had a lot of anxiety due to a traumatic prior birth and some complications with birth and recovery and they were wonderful in supporting me through it all. I always felt very safe and heard. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience!!!
I agree with a previous reviewer about Amy! She is the best! I too had complications (gestational diabetic w large baby, risk for shoulder dystocia) so had to be transferred to a hospital in the end at 39 weeks (only 6% of the pts here do). I was in shock n devastated that seemingly nothing was going according to my birth plans. But Amy was truly an angel. She is super patient with u, she respects your wishes, etc. I was induced and labored for 21+ hrs and in no point during that time, did I feel rushed by her...I know it was a long shift for her but she was still the most positive and motivating midwife up until the very end. I believe her being so positive and constant massaging down there let me deliver my 9.5 lbs baby w absolutely no tearing while avoiding the dreaded c section!! I was beyond happy at that point & it didnt matter that I didnt have the natural birth I wanted...The other midwives are amazing as well. Every midwife I saw for prenatal care is super friendly and knowledgeable w years of experience. Kelsey is also amazing n helpful. I highly recommend ABC & would deliver here again in a heartbeat! Thanks ABC!
Our experience with the Allen Birthing Center was perfect. At every appointment all of our questions were answered, we were never rushed or felt less than welcome. At our home birth, they were extremely patient and informative without being pushy. They handled every minute of our sons birth professionally. Were looking forward to having our next child with them.
The midwives at Allen Birthing Center were absolutely amazing! My birthing experience there was safe, calm, and exactly as I had dreamed. If I have another baby we will use them again without question.
Im about 29 weeks in and today, I had to go in for my 3 hour glucose test to screen for GD. The 3 hour test was rough! But the RN administering the test, Heather, was so kind and empathetic during the entire process. I drank the glucose solution and she explained beforehand that it was double the strength of the 1 hour solution and to possibly expect nausea. She made sure I had a barf bag just in case. After an hour, I told her I wasnt feeling well and she was so sweet to offer me peppermint oil to combat the nausea, in additional to a cool washcloth. An hour and a half into the test, I started vomiting. She just did the most mom thing ever, standing over me, rubbing my back and wiping my tears. The level of warmth and caring she emitted just blew me away and honestly brings tears to my eyes. Thank you Heather and to ABC for going above and beyond in patient care!❤️
A year and a half ago I had an emergency c-section after my daughter heart beat wouldn’t come back up while I was in labor here. Kisten was the worst midwife. She made me feel stupid and like an incovience during my whole labor up until the moment she left me in the emergency room without a second glance back. Not only did NO ONE from ABC contact us to see how our daughter was doing or check on my husband or me for that matter. Our daughter was in the NICU for 2.5 weeks, diagnosed with Mild HIE and during that time ZERO people came from ABC to visit. My daughter almost died and NO ONE EVEN SEEMED TO CARE. Find another birthing center if you want a feeling of love and caring.
Amazing, compassionate care from all of the CNMs at ABC. We’ve had 3 babies with ABC and each experience has been phenomenal. I highly recommend them to anyone looking for evidence based well woman or maternity care!
Ive used Allen Birthing Center for my 3rd and 4th baby and I cannot think of one bad thing to say about them. Their statistics are unrivaled in DFW. All of them work to put health, safety, and well-being first above all. All of the midwives are certified nurse midwives and they are all my favorite. I wish I had known about them earlier. (Availability does fill up quickly, especially if you would like a homebirth.)
It would be helpful for them to note on their website up front that they do not provide care for woman having VBACs... I originally contacted them because I had heard amazing things about Amy and the center in general (Im still sure they are just as amazing as all state they are), but when they called back to schedule my tour, and I informed them that my first (2009) was a c-section due to breech presentation, and my second (2014) was a successful and uncomplicated VBAC, I was told immediately they wouldnt consider me for care- when I asked for a recommendation of a midwife who would, was given a reference. I went back to the boards and remembered seeing that several moms had mentioned using Amy for their VBACs so I called again to ask for clarification about this, and was told that yes, she does, but working with Mckinney OBGYN and through a hospital, and I would have to schedule through them- I researched the hospital, and pre-registered (the birth page says you must pre-register asap in order to have a spot), then I called Mckinney OBGYN and spoke with the front desk explaining my situation, and was told that Amy was only there one day a week with a 2 month wait to be seen, and my chances of having her deliver me were very slim, and then tried to convince me that the owners son (also a dr.) was just as good...no thank you. It would have saved me a lot of trouble if the Allen Birth Center just simply stated on their website they wont work with VBACs (which given the state of TX maternal care/rate of hospital c-sections, I would assume to be a relatively large portion of woman that are excluded)... I found Lovers Lane BC to openly state on their website that they dont view VBACs as a greater risk/less perfect birthing situation, and decided to make an appointment there instead. I hope this review is helpful to other moms in my situation considering using this birth center as a VBAC patient, and also to the center itself in their choice to not accept VBAC births and the importance of transparency in that regard.
Superior women’s care in a welcoming and comfortable environment. Doctor Amy Giles and her staff set the standard. I could not be more pleased with the care I received. I highly recommend Allen Birthing Center.
I cannot say enough great things about Amy, words honestly wont do her justice! She has now, as of yesterday, delivered two of our children and has been such a blessing to my wife, our family, and I. She is the most genuine and caring person I may have ever met and gave my wife the upmost confidence in delivering not only 1, but 2 VBACs.Amy, you are amazing and a blessing to us! I simply cant think you enough!
Sweet staff, comfy atmosphere, phenomenal experience before, during and after our babys birth! This team was way better with everything than our firstborns hospital birth. Highly recommend!
I have had 3 of my 4 children here. I love this place! They are like family. All the midwives are so very caring, encouraging, supportive, and just plain wonderful! I highly recommend it.
Great experience. They were on call for us when I went into labor at 2 am. Very friendly and attentive. 10 out of 10 would recommend
Would not recommend. Terrible experience. Courtney Watson has left a terrible mark on my postpartum journey.
The best midwives in Texas! I had a wonderful birth experience. This place is like family to me.
I felt cared for and respected here, very happy with my experience at Allen birthing center.
Amazing place filled with compassionate, loving people.
Amazing prenatal care and birth experience!
