Womens Care of Alaska is great. Latavia at the front desk is so nice and welcoming. I came in frustrated and she calmed me down by being genuinely empathetic, met me with immediate solutions, and never showed any displeasure. Wendy is an intelligent, matter of fact yet caring nurse practitioner. I always listen to her advice and she has never steered me wrong. The two ladies drawing blood on 10/2/2024 (I think Melissa and a trainee?) were both extremely kind and understanding and didnt laugh at my anxieties. Amazing care with amazing people!
I’ve been seen at this clinic for couple years. It was all ok. Until this years I set up an appointment for annual check up then thing goes wrong. I contacted them in march to set up an appointment and it took over 1,5 month to get in cause I only want to see doctor who I’ve been seeing for the past years. I told them to call me a day or 2 day prior my appointment to remind me. No one called me or leave voice mail or even texted me to confirm appointment. Then when I called to ask when is my appointment they said I missed my appointment. The front desk was just plainly cold hearted. It seems like they don’t even care about the patients. They told me I was registered to get text message reminder. But the truth is no text message has sent to me . I told them if you guys didn’t see my confirmations for the appointment you wouldnt bother to call me?
If you’re looking for a clinic that acts with compassion and true concern with a slower pace, I highly recommend Women’s Care of Alaska. With years of complications and being mistreated by other healthcare “professionals” feeling rushed, overbooked and un heard it was a breath of fresh air meeting Dr. Byrne and staff. Unfortunately there are not many health care offices you can walk in to these days without receiving attitude. I applaud Womens Care of Alaska for changing that narrative!
So I went to this OBGYN after finding out I was pregnant, this all started about 2 years ago. My daughter is now 15 months but this OBGYN was amazing. The place is nice and clean and the doctors were all really nice. Now that I moved, no other OB can compare. The ultrasound techs really took their time getting good pictures of my baby so I can see her face and also gave me 3D prints. My new OB usually just does whats needed and not as caring of my experience. While the office was closed, the after hours nurses all made me feel cared for as well. They also helped me through postpartum depression which made me feel way better and allowed me to be a better mom. Im forever thankful for this OBGYN and their amazing staff. Thank you so much!
My wife and I both received the best care at Women’s Care of Alaska from all the doctors. They listened and graciously answered any questions we had throughout pregnancy and postpartum. As an LGBTQ family healthcare can sometimes be a challenge and feel intimidating but everyone at Women’s Care was amazing. Especially Dr. Cruz and Dr. Counts who delivered our kids. A big shout out to the support staff too - they are so kind and learn your name so fast!
Dr Wynd Counts is heaven sent. Her patient care, medical skills and bedside manner is top tier. She is the most genuine, informative, caring and humble woman Ive met in my life. I have seen her for 6 years and have had 3 beautiful children with her help. She has saved my life many times. My family are indebted to her. If you ever need the help or guidance of an OBGYN, especially if you are an anxious person, I recommend seeing Dr. Counts! You will always feel heard, be given the time to talk and concerns validated with reason. The team beside her at WCAK are also very welcoming and polite. The facility itself is beautiful, well kept, clean, and stocked. Parking is easy and plenty available outside. Access to Level 2 can be made via elevator or stairs. It is a little bit of a walk when you are heavily pregnant, so allow some time before your appointment.
This is a truly wonderful office. I was referred to Dr. Wynd Counts because I needed surgery. I looked up her credentials and was very impressed before I even stepped foot in the office. It took a few weeks to get in but it was worth the wait. The office itself is beautifully decorated and very comfortable. The staff is absolutely amazing! So professional, warm and kind. Dr Counts is the best at what she does, she explains everything clearly and really listens to your concerns. Within two hours of my surgical consult, my insurance was called they had a date for surgery and all my post ops were scheduled! The whole experience put me at ease through what could have been a very anxious time. I just had my one week postoperative appointment and am just so thankful I was referred to Dr. Counts. I feel so much better and so well taken care of. If youre looking for great care go to Womans Care of Alaska!
I’ve been a Patient at Women’s Care of Alaska for 6 yrs, and I absolutely loved them!! Dr. Counts is warm, empathetic, friendly, and makes my women’s annual exams as pleasant as they can be. I always tell her how amazed I am over her speedy but, thorough pelvic exams.Their office is nicely decorated, inviting and all of their staff is warm and welcoming. I highly recommend their services to any women looking for an experience Gynecologist who will address, and treat your concerns with professionalism and care.
The best thing about this place is that you know you wont have to see them any longer than your pregnancy. Carol is the worst assistant there and the Jessica Goldberger has anger management issues that I am honestly not sure why she had everytime she spoke. If you have had a good experience here at the Regional hospital, then hold on to that because they came across impatient, rude, hostile and demanding (and none of them were pregnant). I only have 1 more week left and I never have to deal with this place again.
The office is efficient yes! The Physician was excellent. She certainly understood what the problem was and what might be done.
Newly moved to the state, Women’s Care of Alaska was recommended to me by my realtor. I made an appointment with Jessica Goldberger seeking and annual checkup and possible hormonal replacement option. Jessica openly admitted that this was not something she was actively doing but said she would look into it for me. We completed our visit and I was truly surprised when I received a personal call from her several days later with another providers contact information. I cannot tell you how thrilled I am with this recommendation as I am over 55 and struggled badly with weight gain and low testosterone. Since my recommendation I have lost 90 lbs in a year and half and still going. I really just wanted to drop Jessica a personal note about this but could not find her contact information. Because I was so happy with her dedication I sent my 20 year old daughter to her and now she has another patient that appreciates her as much as I do! Thank you from the bottom of my heart 💜Stephanie
The office staff and all the doctors are wonderful. They take care for the patient to the next level. I was seen here for my first pregnancy and had any concerns, they did everything to address them and put me at ease. I have tried to transfer my care to the valley with my second pregnancy due to commute, but had to go back because the way the WCAK treat you is just unparalleled to any other OB office Ive been to. Thank you!
Worst experience from a doctors office during my pregnancy. This provider lied to me and told me that they were in contract negotiations with my insurance and that my prenatal care and visits would be covered/treated as in-network. After three office visits, I started receiving bills in the mail for preventative prenatal care that, according to my insurance, is covered 100%. After numerous phone calls to the both the billing department and the office manager, Carol, I ended up being charged even more than the original bills. Both ladies in the billing department gave me attitude when I started questioning their billing. I paid them out of ignorance and confusion and thought I could trust my doctors office. Carol continued to lie to me and quote me out-of-network costs as reasons for the bills and will no longer return my calls, despite leaving several messages spanning several months. My insurance denied all claims and now, I am 9 months pregnant, and appealing these claims myself to try and get a refund during a time when my family needs the money most. The the bullying and stress over the past 6 months that this doctors office has put me through is unacceptable and I absolutely do NOT recommend going here.
I went to this clinic when my husband and I found out we were pregnant. They were very friendly and prompt with delivering my test results. When we miscarried at about 4 months, the doctor, nurses, admin, and tech were all very supportive and squeezed me into the schedule for pre-surgery and post surgery appointments. Yes, visits with the doctor were generally quick, but she answered any questions we had during our visit and over the phone. Thank you Womens Care of Ak for all your support❤
I can’t say enough good things about my experience here at Women’s Care of Alaska. The office is beautifully decorated and inviting and the staff is always warm, kind, and helpful. I have been seeing Wendy Koehler and she is wonderful! She is very informative, honest, answers all your questions, and has a very comforting bedside manner. I highly recommend Women’s Care of AK!!
I took my mom here for the first time to get a biopsy of her endometrium. My mother had the procedure done many years ago at a different doctor’s office. She was pleasantly surprised that this time when Dr. Moses did the biopsy, she did not feel so much pain and cramp like she had before. Dr. Moses is a real professional. If you are looking for a painless and cramp less biopsy, she is the person for you.
I was supposed to have my first prenatal appointment here this morning. The doctor comes in to tell me my insurance policy has changed, unbeknownst to me, and that ultrasounds weren’t covered but they were “looking into it.” A simple google search of Tricare would’ve shown them that, in fact, ultrasounds ARE covered, especially one that determines GESTATIONAL AGE, I.e today’s appointment. After making this appointment over a month ago I let them know I was upset and would not be returning. After speaking with multiple people from Tricare, I was informed yet again, that they ARE covered. I called them to let them know this information only to be told I cursed at them- HILARIOUS! I will let everyone I know just how awful your business is and how you treat people that are in the military.
Out of everywhere I have gone in the last 12 years, their office is by far the best. Everyone is so polite and caring and they really try to make you feel like you are the one in control of your appointments. They always listen and don treat you as if you are crazy and are over reacting. I absolutely love this office. Totally worth driving across town for!
I went through the most traumatic experiences EVER with this office. My first visit they insulted my previous 2 doctors, highly offending me. I went in after taking a home pregnancy test that was positive. They never gave a urine or blood test to confirm, sent me for ultrasound to confirm how far I was as I was not sure, ultrasound could only see a gestational sac at this point and said its possible it was just to early to see anything else and suggested a couple of blood tests to establish HCG levels. I did this and came back 3700 same day as the scan, on a Tuesday afternoon, tested again Thursday morning, was 4600. Thursday afternoon was contacted by doctor and was told the baby was not progressing and my HSG levels were not rising enough to be a viable pregnancy. I was offered a medicine to force a miscarriage or schedule a D&C, the medicine was preferred from my doctor as the best method, when I asked about testing again, I was told they could test me until I was down to zero but it would only prolong everything. I of course was devastated by this and told her I would think about it and get back to her, I was told I would need to decide by the next morning as she would be out of the office after that. I never called back, I went somewhere else the following Tuesday and had another blood test and another scan where HSC levels were 23,225!!! and scan showed a yolk and fetal pole with a heart beat. I have a perfectly healthy pregnancy progressing wonderfully. This office was not willing to do another blood test or scan to confirm and almost terminated a life for no reason at all. If anything, these people need to change their policy. I am a seasoned mother of 4, I knew to trust my gut and get a second opinion but I can only think of how many others out there new moms that dont know any better that this could have happened to due to severe laziness and negligence. I WILL NEVER go back here or EVER refer anyone I know there. I will tell anyone who will listen this story not to be disparaging but to promote awareness!! People need to know to trust their own bodies and GET SECOND OPINIONS, even 3 or 4, whatever makes you feel comfortable! I actually refused going here with my last pregnancy because of problems I had while pregnant with my twins and should have known better to go here again. I will not make that mistake again.
Dr. Counts is the best! Miguel is an absolute joy to have as an ANP! She’s very down to earth and very knowledgeable...I’m very confident seeing her for my annual appointments. I recently had the pleasure of meeting and being seen by Dr. Van Haastert a couple of times. Dr. Van Haastert was so kind, wanted to be sure my questions were answered...I really, really like her and would ask to see her again if need be, without hesitation. Hands down they are an amazing group of professional women!
Rhianne Christopherson is amazing! She has been so helpful and has walked me through every step of my treatment. I recommend her to anybody looking for a new doctor. The office is well kept and the staff is professional, kind and welcoming.
Seeing Dr. Ulmer for fertility treatments. All of the medications for TTC with PCOS can get confusing... but all of the staff there is very nice and patient with me, even though I feel like I am calling all of the time (hooray brain fog). Dr. Ulmer connected the dots for my diagnosis right away, when I had been to a number of doctors before that. I trust my health is in good hands there.
They told me to be there at 3:15 to fill out paperwork. I get there at 3:15. Wait until 3:45 to even be seen. (Appt at 3:30). This women shows up 20mins late, (she looks stoned) said she called because she was already running late (ok fine). Your 20 mins late and get pulled over because you sped, and they called her back right away. I have to wait 15 mins. after my scheduled appt.it is like this every time I go in. I have to wait 10-20 mins. After my scheduled appt. even tho people come in after me and go in before me.
Love that they have Saturdays appointments now!!!! They should keep doing it !! I was so pleased with their services being now open on Saturdays too!
I only give one star because the nurses were super friendly, helpful and warm. Two of the three doctors appeared cold, rude at times and made me feel as though they were there only to do their job.
This place is terrible. Its like a doc in the box. I dont think they actually care about their patients. It feels like a lets see how many women we can get in and how high my bottom line will go. I cant believe I was referred her from a previous provider. Ill be getting my medical records and finding someone who cares.
I’ve been coming to the office for the past 17 years and now that my teen daughter is on birth control and having serious side affect she needs it removed they want scheduling two weeks out to remove it.... carol very much unprofessional.... it was a great office until there are a few that need to find a new Job
Excellent care here. I’m a big fan of the office and especially Dr. van Haastert.
Doctor Byrnes was Amazing
Just had our second kid with them couldnt have been happier
Absolutely love this clinic and the providers.
Good experience
