I had an appointment scheduled at 11:20 and got a phone call at 10:45 that the Dr. I was seeing was in surgery and was running behind and asked if I could come in later. I was fine with this. I checked-in and was taken back for intake. At the end of my intake, I was told I was now seeing a different provider. Not at check-in…Then I was told I had to reschedule because that Dr. was now not available either. This was unprofessional and a waste of my time. I work a full-time job and used my PTO for this appointment that did not even happen. There was no real communication. They didnt even tell me or ask me if I wanted to see a different provider. At this point, I dont even want services from this clinic. Word of advice dont schedule appointments for Drs that are on-call...
“Sorry the doc cant make Monday take an appointment 3 months from now or see so and so three days after your already scheduled appointment.”They cancel and reschedule appointments last minute every time. I’ve now met like 5 people in the group because of this and while everyone is quite nice it’s really annoying- I’d like just a smidge of continuity.
Unfortunately, I had a horrible experience. If you want bad communication this is the place to go. We got gaslit during our last appointment. Im a high risk patient and need a lot of extra care. They were talking badly about us in the hallway right before our appointment and had the nerve to say that was her being transparent when we called her out on it. Im sorry but transparency is asking us questions and making sure they have the dates right instead of immediately assuming we were neglecting to go to our mfm appointments. Even after telling her we had gone 5 weeks prior she continued to accuse us of not keeping up with scheduling. Come to find out they didnt keep all there records up to date and thought we hadnt been to our mfm for 10 weeks. It was very frustrating having to argue with my dr considering i was at 26 weeks. By the end of the appointment she recommended we go else where because of our trama with our other births.(not an appropriate thing to say) Dr. Moses really needs to learn how to ask better questions and not immediately assume her computer has the answers. Especially when it came down to a scheduling issue we had no control over. I ran out in tears because I had never been spoken down to in such a way, when all I wanted was to make sure my baby was doing ok instead she spent 45 minutes trying to lecture us for no reason. The stress of this appointment lead us to find a different provider. I really would not recommend them especially with the lack of communication between the doctors.
Dr.Hall is someone you want on your team! She is compassionate and thoughtful with your care. She listens with purpose and makes you feel confident and heard in your journey. Not only is Dr.Hall extremely intelligent making you feel that you are in good hands with your health, she is also very kind and personable. There are a lot of members who work at AWH, and they are all very kind and helpful. Heather and Maria are a few that come to mind for going above and beyond for patients!
I honestly don’t know where to start with this review as I am still heartbroken and grieving the loss of my baby. However, I feel this post is necessary to help any woman who may see this.Last year, I had a series of blood tests to track my hcg levels. They ended up not rising appropriately so I was told by two of the doctors that I needed a D and C. My husband and I had never been through anything like this before so we trusted their word. We ended up paying over $7,000 out of pocket for that surgery. After I woke up, the doctor came out and said they didn’t “get anything” and that he now fears that it is ectopic. Low and behold, the next day they found it in my fallopian tube (with an ultrasound that should have been done prior) They ended up administering methotrexate and I passed that pregnancy soon after that. We thought it was odd they didn’t thoroughly check before they pushed the surgery. Unfortunately, my husband and I gave them the benefit of the doubt.Fast forward to this summer, I ended up miraculously getting pregnant. This was a complete shock to us as we have been struggling with infertility for a long time. At first it was great. My hcg was doubling and they were keeping a close eye on me. I still felt as though something was off, so I requested they check my progesterone levels as I have PCOS and it was something that gave me great anxiety. I was denied and told that it wasn’t necessary nor would it help me regardless of what they found. Out of the blue my HCG plateaued. I received a call from one of the doctors on a Friday afternoon. He told me I needed to go in that evening to have methotrexate administered immediately. I felt extremely pressured and mislead and unsure. Unfortunately, once again my husband and I gave them the benefit of the doubt and agreed. (I should mention once again, that my pregnancy had not been located at this point either and there was no effort to do so) I had the methotrexate administered that night and went home to try to rest before the medicine made me terribly ill.The next day I had bad pain in my right side. I ended up going to the ER to make sure I was having any internal bleeding/ectopic complications. The ER doctor ordered an ultrasound and the tech found my baby, in my uterus, with a heartbeat. It took me a moment to realize that I had already taken methotrexate to terminate my pregnancy and that there was nothing we could do to save it.After the fact, I had blood work done to make sure my HCG went down appropriately. Since then, none of the doctors who did this have attempted to follow up with me.I should add that I have a neurological disorder that makes taking things like methotrexate and having unnecessary surgeries that much more risky.Throughout my time at Alaska Women’s Health, I have been put through unnecessary procedures, injections and medications. I understand writing this won’t fix anything that has happened to my husband and I. But I wanted to make sure somebody had the chance to read this when deciding where to go and whom to trust their life and their babies life with.
The doctors and nurses here are great and we had a wonderful experience with our first born. However we had two instances of poor scheduling and I felt I needed to switch providers. We had scheduled an ultrasound ahead of time and arrived and were told we had no ultrasound scheduled, which was frustrating and disappointing. In a separate instance, I had a follow up on a medication scheduled, arrived with my 1.5 year old, and was checked in for a full yearly exam and Pap smear which was unexpected, as I already had the exam schedule for a few months later and was unprepared for that procedure. The medical staff is great but communication on the administrative side leaves something to be desired.
Terrible service! I called multiple times to reschedule and they kept saying this was the only opening. Then I go in wait for 30 minutes until they told me I have to reschedule. I had to rush from work and for nothing. They scheduled me for next month🙄 and said they’ll keep an eye out for an earlier time; they’re not gonna call. Terrible terrible!!! I would just drink a Tylenol rather than going in anyways.
I was very apprenhenssive about going to my appointment.I saw Dr. Moses and she set my mind at easy, she was very easy to talk to and made me feel very comfortable. her MA Jenny was very kind, from the fist phone call to check in and check out the staff were very professional.I will totally recommend this clinc and will tell all any one looking for a womans doctor to go to Alaska Womans health. Thank you very much
Dr Beery is amazing. She always gives me her undivided attention during appointments, addresses all of my concerns, and never makes me feel rushed. The rest of the staff is equally prompt and helpful.
Dr. Hinkle is one of the best providers I have ever seen. Im someone who has medical trauma and struggled a lot to find the right doctor that not only listened to me but also made me feel comfortable. Womens health can be a hard subject and filled with many unknowns. Dr. Hinkle didnt quite or tell me it was something just to have a reason. I will forever be truly greatly for him.
Midwife Lisa is one of the best providers I have met. I am glad she makes me feel comfortable and heard. Finally found somewhere to go :)
Dr. Strickland was awesome! She spent a lot of time explaining things to me and taking time to answer my questions. Everyone I encountered were helpful and pleasant.
Excellent care very friendly staff polite knowledgeable. I go there for my annual check up and I have had a surgical procedure Performed by Brittany Strickland. I always feel confident in the care that I will receive.
I am so incredibly grateful that my primary care provider referred me to this clinic for my high risk pregnancy. I came into this pregnancy with so many diagnoses....and I picked some frustrating new ones up along the way! Each of the doctors at AWH were completely undaunted by my medical status. Although there are seven doctors on the team, I felt that they all knew me and my case personally and they were in tight communication about my pregnancy from day 1.Due to complications, I spent 50 days in the hospital, and so I got to meet each provider during their rounds. I can say honestly I would have let any one of them deliver my baby with no hesitation, and I say that as someone with severe medical anxiety AND I am very very picky! I felt like prescriptions and questions sent through the portal or by phone were always handled quickly and reliably. I never had any insurance issues (even for my long hospital stay)--everything was handled without any intervention needed by me. Each one of their doctors really made me feel heard and took my requests and questions seriously. I never felt rushed through appointments or dismissed. This group will be part of my care team forever, and I recommend them for any woman in any stage of life!
Everyone at AWH is friendly, helpful and efficient both on the phone and in person. I especially appreciate when I call that I can reach a receptionist in the second or third option. The receptionists easily transfer you to the correct person. They are a wonderful first impression for AWH. Dr. Mitchell-Springers compassionate demeanor helped me relax. She fully explained all aspects of my surgery. She answered all my question and I never felt rushed. AWH offers numerous services in Womens Health and I recommend you start with them.
Amanda Beery is the best doctor Ive ever had in ANY specialty. She truly cares about me as a WHOLE person, including mental health and life stresses and extended family. She gives fantastic guidance and coaching and is extremely knowledgeable but good at explaining things in laymans terms. She makes it very easy to talk with her and she truly does care. I absolutely love her and highly recommend her.
I have flown up for the last 5 years after moving to see Dr. Wang. I would not go nowhere else. She listens to everything I have to say and I never feel rushed. She cares about you and that is hard to find anymore!
You guys should find a new system to call patients back. I called inquiring if a symptom I was having was concerning and was told a nurse would call me. Its been a week and still no call, I ended up going elsewhere and thankfully I did.
I wanted to write this review to show how much my family and I appreciated all of the prenatal care that we received. I was seen by Dr. Ope, Nurse Midwife Lisa, Dr. Moses and Dr. Broz, they were all professional, exceptionally knowledgeable and caring. The office staff was also very caring and professional. This pregnancy was full of unexpected circumstances and medical conditions. Everyone who saw me was very thorough in knowing exactly what I needed to make sure that I could continue my pregnancy for as long as possible. I was constantly led in the right direction even until the last appointment I was advised that if an emergency arose to go to my local hospital and to not try and come to Anchorage since I live in Wasilla. I ended up having to do just that and I’m grateful for all of the advice given to me. We feel so blessed that my baby and I survived the ordeal we went through. I would definitely recommend this office to anyone in need of prenatal or gyn care. I feel so blessed to have come in contact with such great people. I also plan on going to this office for my gyn care for years to come. Thank you so much again to everyone at Alaska Women’s Health for everything!!! I hope you all have a Happy Holiday season!!!
Alia Parker was excellent! She answered my questions and really took time to listen to me and engage in our conversation. She explained each step of the process and was very gentle with the exam. The front desk staff was lovely and kindly directed me through the check in and checkout process. The insurance department was very careful to double check my coverage and even called me to help reschedule my appointment so that it would be covered at the right time of year.Excellent service!
I was well taken care of and couldnt have asked for a better outcome. Dr. Wang did everything she discussed with me and her confidence, had me feeling confident as well. She is brilliant and understood everything I was experiencing. She fixed all the things that I was struggling with and she smiled all the way, without any judgment. I have struggled for over 10 years and was referred to Dr. Wang after trying a different doctor. I knew right after I met her, she was the right choice. Thank you for giving me back time to enjoy my activities again without disruptions. Blessed & Grateful.
All the staff is friendly, knowledgeable, helpful, and efficient. My nurse was thorough with my medical history. Each of the diagnostic procedures were explained. Dr. Mitchell-Springer thoroughly explained my condition and discussed treatment options. She answered all my questions.
I previously saw Dr Hanson here and cant even remember why I switched to another OB-GYN. My current GYN was out of town when I had some urgent medical issues and so they referred me to Alaska Womens Health. I saw Dr Opie and very much liked her. Didn’t rush through the appt, explained what’s happening clearly. I really like her. The entire staff is top notch, friendly and very helpful. I’m thinking of switching back.
My wife and I were walking the path of infertility and decided to go to Alaska Womens Health. We were assigned to Dr. Beery and over the course of about 2 years had been in for several IUIs. Thats when we met Heather. A core part of Dr. Beerys team, Heather always met us with a smile when we came in.I know people in health care professions deal with a lot of patients, so it seems hard to picture someone knowing and caring so much about each patient, but Heather truly did. She was an integral part of our journey, and when we found out we were pregnant I think she was just as excited as we were!Heather is truly exceptional, always caring, and really helped to make a difficult journey much more bearable. Thank you Heather, and thank you to Dr. Beery and the rest of the staff at Alaska Womens Health.
I cannot recommend Alaska Women’s Health enough! My baby boy was delivered 6 weeks early due to pre-eclampsia. Dr. Moses made me feel so heard and safe throughout the entire delivery and was extremely attentive when I was feeling extremely scared and overwhelmed. She truly made my entire delivery and I cannot thank her enough. All of the doctors and staff at Alaska Womans Health are absolutely incredible and so friendly. I always feel so welcomed no matter the situation. They are quick to help and truly make you feel like family. Thank you.
Dr Mitchell-Springer is the best. She makes her patient feel like she is the only person who matters. She takes time to answer questions and explain until her patient understands
DO NOT come here if you have a high deductible insurance! My wife was a patient there, we had a large payment, they would rather send your payment to collection than give you some discount or even just a longer payment plan. Beside that, You’ll see different doctor each time, most of their doctors are really nice. DR. Moses, Dr. Hall and Alia Parker are really nice! But, Not Dr. Ope, We have seen her twice, it was quite uncomfortable, she is very impatient.
Loved every bit of my experience here! Very professional! Well kept place! Doctor Wang was amazing! She made me feel very comfortable and never made me feel that I’m not cared for! I DEFINITELY would recommend!!
I dont share or write reviews often but I wanted to write a review for Alaska Womens Health PC. I had a GREAT experience with Dr. Amanda Beery, her nurse assistant Carlee and scribe Lindsey.Dr. Beery was so attentive, LISTENED, kind, very knowledgeable and an advocate for her patient. I TRULY HAVE NEVER MET a medical physician who was this kind and cared.Nurse assistant Carlee was so sweet, professional and very helpful. All three of these represented their business with kindness and professionalism and I would absolutely recommend this office and them.
The quality of service at Alaska Women’s Health (AWH) is outstanding. I felt exceptionally cared for during office visits and procedures. I highly recommend AWH due to my experience and satisfaction with Dr. Ope-Adenuga. She is phenomenal, engaging, patient-centered, and exhaustive when discussing treatment options. I recommend Dr. Ope-Adenuga to every patient.
Awesome bedside manner! I feel all my needs and concerns are well cared for by Dr. Moses. She takes her time with me. I appreciate that. My appointments have been first thing in the morning, so I haven’t ever had to wait to be seen. Nurses there are great too! Really positive experience. (My husband is a physician, I’m pretty picky and I keep my expectations high.)
Previously working with the VA, I have professionally worked parallel with this office and they were always helpful, understanding and patient with me and the veterans. During my time with the VA, I became pregnant (2019) with our first and decided to use AkWH as my OBGYN provider office. Throughout the entire pregnancy, birthing and Postpartum I was completely comfortable and grateful for going with them. They do have a great selection of providers to choose from; upon my first visit, it was suggested to me to have one visit per provider so I am familiar with their personalities and I can gain a sense of comfort in knowing that ONE of them would be delivering my baby- some might get annoyed with this but I am SO happy I did this. There is rarely a chance that I was able to choose who would be delivering so this was the next best step. Fast forward to today and becoming a Stay-at-home mom (2021), my husband and I are planning to have a second baby next yr and I already know whom Id like to work with! Not like that matters because, like I said, they are all wonderful.Receptionists are always patient with me, nurses have always been awesome and the phlebotomists were so awesome and quick with the blood draws.I can definitely say that I have and will continue to recommend this office to any woman in the area.
I had one great appointment here, but that was overshadowed by a massive surprise bill. Receptionist told me my insurance was in network at the time I scheduled my appointment, but turns out it wasn’t. I was not informed of this when they called to confirm my appointment or when I checked in on the day of. I expected my routine preventative care to be 100% covered by insurance so did not think anything of it. Almost three months later I found out that my 10 minute appointment will cost me upwards of $800.According to clinic director Rachel, it is “1000% the patient’s responsibility” to double check with insurance beforehand and they can’t check every patient’s insurance. I was basically accused of being a liar on the phone since she can’t verify my conversation from December of last year and repeatedly guilted for not checking with my insurance, despite being told they were in network. Never making that mistake again and never coming here again. They refused to give any sort of discount or take responsibility for the receptionist’s misinformation. Rachel told me it would be unethical for her to change my bill — I think it is unethical for them to have given me no advance warning about the cost of the appointment, or any reminder to double check directly with my insurance carrier to make sure I was covered there. Cheryl in billing even told me she was surprised to see I went to them when she saw who my insurance was — so why was my insurance carrier not a red flag to any other member of staff before that? Rachel told me that the best she can do is remind her staff of this so it doesn’t happen in the future, which does absolutely nothing to help me now. Based on a few other reviews similar things have happened to others in the past and recently without fixing it.
I have interacted with this office a lot over the past few months and I have been very pleased with their care and services. A big thank you to Dr Beery, Dr Moses and Dr Hinkle for all their help but also thank you to all the nurses and staff I have encountered. Everyone has been nice and supportive. I would highly recommend this office to anyone new to this area.
My PCP referred me to Dr. Moses at AWH and I am so glad she did. She was so patient and thorough and helped my husband and I make an informed decision about treatment. She was with me to answer any questions and the surgery went exactly as she said it would. I highly recommend AWH!
I have thought a lot about how I want to write this review. I was a patient here for the first 27 weeks of my very first pregnancy. Let me be clear, this is not a bad practice. There’s nothing terribly wrong I’m sure a lot of people have great experiences. However, its not outstanding either, in my experience. So, I guess I’m writing this for the women who wants to be involved in their health care just as much as the doctor is and wants to learn and be educated and taken seriously and listened to. If that’s you, this is not a great match for you. I often felt rushed through my appointments. I was never asked or gave consent to them checking the baby’s heart beat at every appointment it was just done automatically. It was just automatically assumed I would be getting the flu vaccine and if I didn’t they made it seem like I’m a terrible mother. And to be clear, it’s not that I wasn’t going to get the vaccine in the first place they just kinda made it seem like I didn’t have a choice and I was going to be severely judged if I even asked to know the risks and be fully informed! Because knowing all the information is the only way you can give informed consent. And LADIES this is NOT quality health care! It is so important for your provider to educate you on EVERY procedure they are doing. You are your number one advocate. You need to feel comfortable asking questions and you need to have a high standard for your health care providers especially when it comes to prenatal care. They should be taking the time to talk with you and explain things to you. 10 minutes with a doctor once a month is NOT enough time to be fully educated and fully involved in your health care. This practice did not value that and often times I felt like my questions were a nuisance and that they didn’t have time for me. There was also a lot of miscommunication and weirdness when I tried to learn more about the things I was going through in pregnancy. On top of that, if you’re using tricare they are NOT in network. They will say they are but they are NOT.I heard there is one Dr, Dr. Berry who is amazing but I never had her. I had a good experience with the NP for one of my appointments but there were two or three doctors I saw that did not seem to care about taking the time to give me quality health care. How awful my delivery would have been with a dr who just saw me as another patient and another delivery to get done. That is not the kind of situation I wanted to be in. My husband and I made the choice to switch to Midwifery and women’s health care because you can still be seen by a midwife and have a hospital birth (something I wasn’t aware of going into pregnancy) and WOW what a huge difference. I’m telling you, find a provider who will take the time with you, teach you and make you feel comfortable, safe and heard. It’s a night and day difference. I have learned more in my two appointments with this midwifery clinic than I learned in my full 27 weeks at Alaska women’s health. If you’re anything like me, in that you want to be involved in your health care and know everything that is going on this is not the practice for that. But again, I am very involved with my health care and I care a lot so it might be just me. If you’re the same way just avoid the hassle!
The first time I went to AWH I was 12 weeks postpartum (from a home delivery) and I went in to have an IUD inserted. I was incredibly nervous about the procedure; even though everything was healing amazingly I was so anxious thinking about inserting something into my battle-worn cervix. Dr. Beery was patient and understanding and I am thankful to her for helping me decide to go with the paragard IUD over the copper one I had initially wanted. The insertion was nearly painless, but I was more impressed by the staffs understanding of my nervousness. After the procedure I had a routine pap that showed abnormal cells; again Dr. Beery helped allay any fears and took her time answering my questions and concerns. I have since had several other appointments and I have felt just as respected and empowered and informed with every procedure and appointment. I cant recommend Dr. Beery enough; she is an utmost professional but also relatable and compassionate. I would also like to note that I was on medicaid and as far as the billing is concerned, the staff has informed me of any auxiliary fees or co-payments and it has been a breeze using medicaid with AWH.
I was seen the same day for a very uncomfortable issue. My treatment was efficient but I never felt rushed. Both the front desk staff as well as any of the care providers I have seen have been friendly comforting and knowledgable. I highly recommend AWH and will continue to use their services. If you show up ON TIME for your appointment that makes everyones day easier. If your appointment runs long due to questions I would expect to wait patiently like an adult. As I would expect the next patient to do for me. Were all doing our best.
I have had pelvic pain and went in basically was referred and the doctor kept saying Im not treating you for chronic pain. I said yes I know, Im here for other issues. She didnt want to let me speak. I thought she was cold and distant. Save your money, for anywhere but here. Women should be treated with dignity and respect. This place is just a huge NO.
If you’re uninsured, don’t use Alaska Women’s Health! They have certain tests and procedures they do regardless of the need and they charge through the nose for it. Not only that, it was recommended I have a uterine biopsy done while I was there for a papsmear. It was an extra $650 plus $175 for the lab. The doctor didn’t even get any uterine tissue for the biopsy. But that doesn’t matter. I still have to pay for it. Never again!
I would like to say THANK YOU and I truly appreciate Mrs. Leslie Cayco-Travis for being able to see me the very next day. She went above and beyond, was very informative and listened to all of my problems. Even took extra steps and tests to ensure my health. I can’t thank her enough. I only waited about 5 minutes before being seen, she wasn’t in a rush to get me out of there which I appreciate as well. Will definitely try to keep her as my provider. Once again, thank you and your team for excellent treatment!
I cannot recommend Alaska Womens Health enough. Beautiful practice, professional and kind staff; Dr. Strickland was amazing. So glad I came here.
AK Womens Health is great! I have nothing but glowing things to say about Dr. Moses. The appointment was thorough and I really felt like she cared when she was listening. She is so kind and compassionate about womens health issues. She explained everything in a manner in which could be understood and took the time to allow for questions. She is EXACTLY what a doctor should be like.
Not very pleased with them at all!! First pregnancy & every time I feel like I leave having more questions than answers especially since they rotate you to a new doctor every time so I feel like there’s no connection between doctor and patient. I never feel happily greeted when I check in, it’s more like ok next in line, I feel like I’m interrupting the front desk from their busy life’s to check me in to my appointment. I’m debating finding another doc but I’m due in August so I don’t know if there’s a point but if I have another child I will not go back here!!
It s 10 stars for AWH. The front desk staff and medical assistants were very nice and helpful. Doctors were great. I will definitely be back.
I dont understand the negative reviews either. I have been going to AWH for 4 years. I have never been rushed because the providers, especially Dr. Mitchell-Springer, spend the time needed to explain my condition and answer any questions. Because they care about their patients, I would assume that there could be some wait times that are unavoidable.
Nothing but good to say about my experiences with AWH, which have included a surgery and all that led up to it, and occasional appointments for various things. The staff takes its time with you and is completely thorough and professional. I have never experienced unusually long waits. I have complete faith in the care that I have received at AWH in the years that I have been a patient at this clinic.
If I could give 10 stars I definitely would!! Dr. Hinkle gave me my life back! I had so many lady health problems and I was miserable. Every doctor gave me the “Let’s give it more time” speech because of my young age. Dr. Hinkle and his staff went above and beyond my expectations . They listened to my concerns and took immediate action upon any test results that came back. Dr. Hinkle NEVER made me feel like I was “just another patient”. He is EXTREMELY Knowledgeable and truly cares about his patients. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND HIM!
I waited 30 minutes for a doctor to attend me. Then she wasnt even familiar with my file when she showed up and couldnt answer basic questions I had. At my next appointment with a different Doctor, the Doctor didnt even show up. She sent a nurse midwife, who doesnt deliver babies and couldnt answer any of my questions either. I started crying, and then finally got the doctor I had an appointment with in the room. The doctor was condescending and couldnt answer basic questions about hospital procedure. Finally, the nurse midwife returned to the room and gave me a handout that had basic information on it. I found better, more complete information with a simple Internet search. What are you paying for with these doctors, the show up late or they dont show up and cant answer simple health questions. Shameful!
Do not go through Alaska woman’s health ! They are telling me I would have to be in charge of a big bill due to them refusing to send out the denial and invoice to my secondary insurance I was told they work with Medicaid and I have told them the exact steps of what would need to be taken from the beginning of me going through them , they really do only care more about the money than they do the pregnancy I was so stressed from all of them not wanting to listen to what I was telling them to do so my insurance would accept the bill , I called Denali Ob - Gyn who said right away they will be able to work with that and it wouldn’t be an issue , I will be taking my services through with Denali , ALASKA WOMANS HEALTH DOES NOT HELP anybody if I could give a zero star I would !!!!! And a lot of the staff except for the front desk and doctors are outrageously so rude for no reason at all ! Thank for nothing ☺️
If theres a zero star I would give this is clinic a zero because the wait time are so long whats the point of making an appointment if we have to wait 30-45 minutes to see the doctor every time. What I hate the most about the clinic is because it looks like the doctor never look st my chart before coming to see me. I have the same doctor that see my at every appointment but always ask what my baby gender is. This doctor have ask me this question even right before I give birth and ask me on every visit. The people here dont care for their patients. I was so young back then and dont know a good clinic thats I went to this one. I would never recommend this clinic to anyone.
Dr. Beery has a heart of gold and a bedside manner to match it. Its everything Ive been missing from all my other womens health experiences.
I went to labor and delivery at Alaska Regional when I was 34 weeks with full blown contractions. We thought for sure the baby was coming. The hospital itself, treated me amazingly. Dr. Hinkle was the on call OB, not my normal OB, who is Dr. Bell. Dr. Hinkle is short of amazing. I wasn’t even a normal patient of his, but he made me feel comfortable and calm. Between him and the staff at AK Regional, we were able to figure what was wrong and stop the labor, so my baby could stay in a little longer. I’m very pleased with the care I received from Dr Hinkle. He didn’t brush my worries aside, actually listened to me and made sure I was comfortable. I went home knowing what triggered my preterm labor and and how to prevent it. Thank you Dr Hinkle!
Okay, I personally dont understand either why everyone is complaining about the wait times, or the rudeness. I have seen several different providers there over the last two years (pre-, during and post-pregnancy), and have had no issues at all. Only once a dr seemed rude to me, and in retrospect, he acted the way he did clearly because he was eager to stay right on schedule, and I did not have enough time to ask my questions. Seriously, what would you rather choose: wait extra 10-30 min (and definitely not every time) and be CARED FOR or be kicked out asap because the next patient will be discontent? I choose the 1st one. Its your OB, for goodness sake, not a fast food joint. My favorites are Dr. Hall and Ali Parker, ANP. Even without decades of experience behind their backs, they are amazing - knowledgeable, caring, respectful. Dr. Gohring delivered my babe and has been absolutely great throughout my labor - I never felt pushed, disrespected, dismissed or scared throughout my 27 hr labor. The RNs there are great as well, and I never had any issues with scheduling, billing or front desk either. So if you absolutely hate the idea of waiting a little extra before you are seen, feel free to look for some other place. If you prioritize quality medical care over impeccable time-management, you should pick this clinic.
I would give 5 stars for doctors. Doctors in this office are very professional. I took 3 stars off for their communication for billing.I checked this office was 100% covered with my insurance and it was 100% covered for whatever service provided within this office. However, they sent ultrasound order to another radiology clinic which is out-of-network of my insurance and now I have to pay 100% for the ultrasound service which could have been covered 100% with my insurance if they sent an order to in-network clinic. This radiology clinic was located at different location and they said this is where they normally send their patients to, and talk to radiology clinic for any billing issue. Couldnt they order ultrasound within Providence hospital? I wish if they communicated clear for me to check if that particular radiology clinic is covered with my insurance, then I could have done my research ahead of time. Also, they charged copay for the visit which was covered 100% with my Insurance with no copay and didnt inform me until I found out about it. I called them for refund 4 months after the clinic visit.I called this office, talking to billing department, saying that whats done is done and I have to pay 100% for ultrasound but I wish if your clinic would have communicated better in the first place. They said they cant check billing for every single patient so it is patients responsibility to check it.Thus, I wanted to inform whoever reads this and decides to come to this clinic to check their insurance ahead of time, check which services are covered and where you are supposed to go to get your services covered. Check your insurance claims to make sure you are paying what you owe. I never had such issue with other obgyn clinics in the past. I wanted to stay because I liked Dr Hall but I dont want to go through this billing issue again, so I am going to check out another obgyn clinic which may communicate better.Besides billing, medical staffs provided professional services in this clinic.I hope this review helps this clinic improving.P.s Just be aware this clinic is within providence hospital but they are not in providence network. This is private office located within providence hospital. Consider this when you are searching for obgyn providers with your insurance.
First time here, and it went amazing. Dr. Ope is the absolute BEST, she has amazing bedside manners. She is so knowledgeable and even guided me through the whole procedure and for that I’m very thankful.
I started seeing someone here after I began having extremely rare symptoms, multiple tests were done, they never listened to what I had to say, they shuffled me around with staff, scared me by constantly mentioning different cancers it could be and then when it came down to it, all of their tests came back negative, and I was eventually told that they had no idea how to help me and I’d be better off going elsewhere. They didn’t even bother to give me a recommendation or referral. It’s been over a year now and I’m still paying off my bills from their bogus tests. Completely unknowledgeable staff, and poor bedside manner. Wouldn’t recommend if your life depended on it. My next doctor found the problem after one test. Can’t even believe what they put me through.
I was 15 when I first saw ak womens health for a colposcopy and a leepthe service was great, the nurses and doctors ensured me what would take place and everything went well, they managed my pain and had excellent follow up care their customer service is amazing and I would never trust any other providers like I do the providers at Alaska womens health.they delivered all 3 of my children and even through the traumatic part of the births (complications) the service was excellent and they put up with frustrations and verbal anguish very well as I fished out quite a bit with my last delivery.they listen to me and address my needs the best way possiblethe team of doctors are a hoot and make you feel welcome and comfy!I have seen every provider and will continue to do so forever!thank you Alaska womens health for keeping my health a priority and making sure that I am in tip top shape :)
We had a great experience, worked with Dr Whitefield. We struggled with infertility. Also worked with nurse Denise who was wonderful. We conceived our son a few months after starting treatment.
Loved Dr.Gohring. The phone staff are hit and miss. Some are rude and need to be told how to speak to another human. Why isn’t the manager doing much about it? Also, they will code things wrong and bill your labs the wrong way. I spent months trying to get rid of a bill I shouldn’t have had to pay. Her attitude seemed I should just pay it since it wasn’t a large amount. It took so long, they never fixed it or got back to me in the end. Too bad the docs and the staff can’t seem to be equally productive and caring.
I love Dr. Mitchell-Springer. She always takes the time to listen to her patients and really connect with them. Shes kind and helpful, no matter what the problem is. I would recommend her to anyone. Shes been my ob/gyn for decades.
Ive always had great customer service from staff. No one has ever been rude or short with me. Their communications to me are timely, and they are quick to respond to my messages. Im half way through my first pregnancy and have been very happy with the service received here.
I have high praise for AWH! As a post-menopausal woman, this is a practice of women who are experieced, compassionate, trustworhy and knowledgeable. My issues have been resolved through surgery with Dr. Mitchell-Springer. Both procedures for a hysterectomy and mid-urethral sling went smoothly and I recovered easily.
NOT MILITARY FRIENDLY!!!! Jason who answers the phones is nasty, unprofessional refusing veterans service! Talking with Vanessa office manager does nothing. Billing person Tami repeatedly billed me personally for 6 months threatening to send me to collections for not paying over $1000 bill for one office visit! Tami failed to properly submit my billing info with the VA referral to the third party billing company who had no idea said according to their paper work Im responsible for payment. After 7 months of calling everyone and having the VA continuously send them the referral and billing info to process it, I had to give this info to their third party billing service to save my credit report. After I finally corrected their gross misconduct in billing and saved my credit report, their office administrator Cindy Alkire submitted a note on my VA authorization that the doctors/owners of this facility agreed to no longer see me as a patient. However I was never notified of this unanimous decision to refuse a military veteran health care because they failed to ethically conduct business in this health care facility and repeatedly attempted to get me to pay $1000 cash for one visit. And when I call back because the doctor has not resolved my medical issue and the VA still has this facility as my one authorization, that is when Im told of Cindy Alkires decision on behalf of the business owners/doctors of Alaska Womens Health to not provide care to me as a patient or even respect enough to notify me of the decision!Still maliciously billing almost a year afterwards solely because of the FALSE information alaska womens health is providing to their billing company!!! BEWARE FRAUDULENT PRACTICES!
I dont understand the poor reviews because I have had my care here for about 8 years. I have had two babies with them and have had excellent care and customer service. All the staff there are very professional and caring. The doctors are also exceptional. I highly recommend this practice to everyone!
Been a patient over 7 years. Not satisfied with the way they go about scheduling c sections. They kept giving me a run around and gave me so many excuses to where they couldnt do my c section on the day I requested months out! Worst obgyn ever dont go with them!
Dr. Wang is both very professional & very caring. She answered all my questions & had several possible avenues I could go with my care. I would definitely recommend her to anyone needing care in her speciality.
Easily one of the best experiences Ive ever had. From the first referral to point-of-care, theyre one of the most well-organized, engaged, patient-focused clinics Ive ever seen.
Dr. Strickland and her staff are amazing. Everyone was very kind and I felt that I was heard by the doctor. She is very down to earth and knowledgeable.
Scandalous owners at alaska womens health blame the third party billing company THEY HIRE about billing issues but the TRUTH is they play games. As Tami in their billing dept sends out the invoice to this third party and FAILS TO APPROPRIATELY FILL OUT VITAL BILLING INFO. So the third party tries to collect %100 cash from veterans or threaten your credit report with this Over priced visit that doesnt reslove patient issues. Similar to a racket to get over on patients and veterans! They abuse veterans then decide not to see them as patients WITHOUT NOTIFYING THEM! So a veteran has a referral to alaska womens health that you refuse to help as a patient and its disgusting! You lie about notifying the patient! You lie about billing! And you treat patients like cattle! Get over yourselves before a class action suit slaps your elite attitudes an your back!*update* 11 months later the company alaska womens health employs to bill its CUSTOMERS and who they provide your billing info to, is STILL sending me over due collection threat letters! It was one visit, 100% covered by the VA, and these malicious billing practices or severe gross incompetent billing practices are continuing because i was a patient one time at alaska womens health! These crooks know what they are doing and wont stop until class action lawsuit forces them to do the right, moral, ethical thing as a business.
Worse doctors office in all of Anchorage! Do not go there!! The doctors and staff lie , cheat and refuse to let you be a part of your own health care! This place is a joke , cant even refill a simple prescription, that Ive been taking for 5 years , that they themselves prescribed! Its absolutely ridiculous. Please find ANY other office in town ,and save your self the stress and frustration!!
The entire team has been awesome I have been dealing with a whole bunch of problems over the years and it took 5 minutes for my doctor to figure it out and I am absolutely overjoyed shes a very very smart woman and I dont trust too often but Dr Moses is awesome very friendly very upbeat if I had her having my second son that would have been awesome too but that was of years ago different state LOL but I definitely found my care team
Staff was super friendly, helpful not making me feel weird with my embarrassing situation.I called previously not get a feeling what this offices/clinic may be like and only got a positive vibeI definitely would recommend them to anyone
I had a great experience at this clinic! 100% recommend. Dr. Ope was awesome!
If theres a zero star option it would be up there. So rude! Ive never been to a place that made me feel like I was a bad person because I am asking for help! They shouldve paid me to visit them since I had to pretty much do their jobs for them. I am shocked by attitudes I recieved from individuals in all their departments.
Amazing people everyone’s very nice and very attentive always answer any questions I might have and never made me feel uncomfortable or unsafe in anyway best medical office I’ve ever been to
My experience with Dr. Hinkle was excellent and I highly recommend him.
Dr. Hall is the go to🤙thank you for making our visit comfortable and giving us all the information we need and more!🙏
Clearly one of the most professional team of doctors I have seen work with patients. Highly qualified and exceptionally responsive to my needs.
I recommend AKWH to anyone because they are professional and welcoming. From receptionists to nurses, to providers and everyone else. Thank you for helping my family.
Would highly recommend this office and the MD i saw here. Dr Broz. All the staff were exceptional.
Fantastic care here. Highly recommend Lisa Weston in particular.
Service was ok with some providers, not great with others. Paying my bill has been a nightmare and their phone says they are closed sometimes when their posted hours claim they are open.
Dr Amanda Beery is one of the best providers I’ve ever seen!
Dr. Ann Broz and Nurse Shelia were caring and kind when dealing with my problems.
I feel very safe and heard at this clinic! Amazing service and incredible providers.
I love this Place, They tread me well. They work good and are very polite. I can recommend this place.
Very comforting, excellent care , Dr Wang is amazing

Rude. Waste of time!
