Good evening,Ive been coming to Dr. Yvette Smith for 19 plus years. My twin daughter is 19 and having a young adult crisis. Dr. Smith didnt have an immediate appointment to take care of Destiny outpatient procedure. We schedule an appointment with Dr. Hathaway. Today we went for the 3 weeks followup appointment. It was a horrible experience. Dr. Hathaway triad assistant was very rude and when the doctor came in the room. She agreed with her assistant and told me to lower my voice and called me by my first name. My daughters cyst has returned because she put the stitches to tight and left blood and fluid in the wound. Im so hurt and disappointed. We should have waited on Dr. Smith to take care of the procedure. My daughter is a virgin and Dr Hathaway dont have good bedside manners for a young woman who decides to wait. My daughter , almost jump off the table twice and at the first visit kicked her. A truly horrible experience for my daughter Destiny and I.Sincerely,Michelle D Harris
First I want to say that there are plenty great staff here from receptionists to the nurses and PAs. However, my most recent experience with Dr. Hathaway was the most infuriating experience. She had me waiting in the room FOREVER to the point I thought they forgot I was there. That’s not the worst part however. I told her a few of my symptoms that were concerning me and added that my hair has changed drastically and now that I’m 33 I’d love to check my hormones because I have no clue where they stand. She gaslit me the entire appointment, was extremely condescending with a tone like she was about to laugh at me. Told me that’s not a reason to check hormones, we can’t just check because you want us to. “There has to be a reason”. I could tell the PA didn’t agree with her but couldn’t speak up.She rushed out of there and threw me a thyroid test and CBC panel for my troubles and that was that. I NEVER received any follow up about my labs or symptoms I came in for. I had to call the nurses line and I thankfully received a very caring nurse that suggested I come back in for more testing because my symptoms weren’t normal.Lastly—the phlebotomists are hit or miss. One girl had so much attitude and didn’t speak ONE WORD to me. I explained to her that I get woozy and faint easily and she just gave me a stank face and continued with the blood test which had more tubes than usual because of the blood panel I did.Horrible bedside manner in one visit all around was enough to make me explore holistic practices near me so I can get to the bottom of my hormones, hair, body, and energy changes.
I have been coming to this practice for over 20 years. They are a great organization. All practice go through changes in staff and sometimes doctors too. I have seen everyone in the practice. They are direct and straight forward. They have had moments when delays caused by them and late patients ( me included) have pushed them behind schedule. Dr. Johnson and Dawson delivered by two sons, and were there to hold my hand when I had a miscarried. I continue to alternate who is see year to year. They listen and ask questions. They do care.
I needed to consult with an advanced obgyn because I was concerned because my family history predisposed me to high-risk pregnancy but couldnt find anyone I was willing to work with apart from the experts at Atlanta Obstetrics & Gynecology Specialists. What really got me was their warmth and I felt their sincere willingness and want to help me out. Today, me and my baby are healthier than ever, because of the guidance of Atlanta Obstetrics & Gynecology Specialists advanced specialists.
Ive always found obgyn care as a practice that requires an empathetic and holistic understanding of womens health. And the doctors at Atlanta Obstetrics & Gynecology Specialists? They demonstrate nothing short of that. Ive been with them while trying to conceive and up to now as I expect my first baby.
Going to an obstetrician gynecologist for checkups can put a woman at a very vulnerable position. So its important to work with professionals who listen to you and give you advice without being preachy. This has never been a problem Ive encountered at Atlanta Obstetrics & Gynecology Specialists.I always feel safe entering their clinic, knowing that Ill be meeting with doctors and staff who truly care for my reproductive health. If you need an obstetrician gynecologist, look no further than Atlanta Obstetrics & Gynecology Specialists.
Thanks to Atlanta Obstetrics & Gynecology Specialists obgyn specialists my partner and I were able to conceive and we are now expecting our first bundle of joy in a couple months. I would point anyone who needs open and expert help with family planning and difficulties conceiving to them!
Update: Finally received my refund (January), 6 months after my delivery (June). And it took constantly calling, proving that the hold ups were on their end, and getting the insurance company involved. I still felt like the amount they refunded me was inaccurate, but I just had no energy left to tussle with them anymore. Again, the doctors are great, but it’s worth finding a practice that does not have a global billing policy.Doctors great. Billing horrible.A doctor from the practice visited me every single day of my 7-week inpatient stay, so I got to meet every doc. They’re all lovely and supportive. Dr. Smith and Dr. Levenson are the ones I connected with the most. They were very knowledgeable and successfully delivered my baby.My issue is solely with the billing practices, and it’s unfortunate that I may not be able to choose the practice again for this reason. You have to pay your entire deductible up front in order receive prenatal care... Which preparing for a baby, there’s just so much more you’d rather be spending that money on. Then they don’t actually bill until the delivery so they’re literally just holding your money like they’re a bank or something. Your insurance company will have no record of you paying a deductible, so if you get any other services done elsewhere prior to delivery, you’ll be paying for those in full as well. After the delivery, they still took forever to file the claim. Meanwhile the hospital and other specialists are billing and expecting payment even though you’ve met your oop max because your money is tied up with them. When I called central billing, the rep was rude and told me they couldn’t give my refund until the insurance processed the claims (which they had only recently submitted to insurance). Well all claims have now been processed and I’ve been trying to reach central billing and leaving messages for two days to no avail. Please keep in mind if you choose this practice.
An expert and caring obgyn in Atlanta that you can work with for the long-term is hard to come by. So when I took the shot with Atlanta Obstetrics & Gynecology Specialists, I was pleasantly met with professionals that I see myself going to for about any reproductive health needs.
I would absolutely recommend my gynecologist at Atlanta Obstetrics & Gynecology Specialists for ANYTHING. Whether its for your routine pap smear or a consultation on birth control and family planning methods, theyre more than equipped and willing to work with you with care and competence.
I was having trouble looking for an Ob Gyn to help me deal with my endometriosis without immediately turning to drastic solutions and only found one at Atlanta Obstetrics & Gynecology Specialists. I know there are a lot of women going through the same thing as me and struggling to find specialists who are genuinely out to help you out with practical means, and I would all point them to Atlanta Obstetrics & Gynecology Specialists every chance I get.
My OBGYN specialists were my support during my infertility journey. Different from other doctors I have encountered, they showed genuine care and concern for my situation. They tailored a plan that felt just right for us, turning hopelessness into hope with every appointment.
I have dealt with 2 separate difficult pregnancies at this practice and have decided to find a new OBGYN after this visit.First, note that the following comments are not intended to dismiss Dr. Smith and Dr. Levenson’s compassion or credibility. Dr. Levenson performed a DNC after my first miscarriage and was kind during the operation and follow up. The rest of the office, however, lacks compassion and is extremely disorganized.I visited the office on Monday because I was literally in the middle of a miscarriage and was met with disdain from the front office for asking to be squeezed into the schedule so someone could confirm I was having a miscarriage rather than dealing with normal pregnancy bleeding.I then had to return a few days later. The front at first couldn’t find my appointment. Then, they sent to me to the back where no one was stationed. I had to flag someone down to get help. The nurses asked me what I needed done. I had no idea what labs the doctor ordered so I waited 20 minutes while they figured out 1) who I was and 2) what Dr. Hathaway ordered because she didn’t explain to me adequately what labs I needed at our previous appt.Every time I come to this office, it’s a 1+-hour ordeal, even for routine labs. Dr. Hathaway did not take the time to explain what was going on with my fertility, rushing me and my mom out of the room in the middle of a traumatic moment, not directly answering any questions. They’ve made me feel like an inconvenience at a time when I’m already frustrated with my own body. That’s not how I should feel at my obgyn’s office.I’m done with this practice and will be finding a group that has better organization and more compassion for its patients.
Great experiences with the medical staff here. Unfortunately not so great on the billing side of the house. Prepay is required for L&D (a standard practice for OB/GYNs) but they are very, very slow to return your money if you end up overpaying due to meeting your deductible ahead of time. This has now happened to me twice. With my first child it took about 4 months to get my refund; this time, my baby is almost 5 months old and Im still waiting. The central billing office is just awful, and while the in-office billing specialists are nice, theres not a lot they can actually do. I used to recommend the practice but Im not sure I can any longer.
Dr. Dannemann was amazing! My pregnancy was extremely pleasant under her care! She was honest, attentive, knowledgeable, and always showed genuine concern for my wellbeing. I am happy that I chose her to be my OB! My baby and I are happy & healthy!
This office is poorly run. Based on my wifes experience we can relate to most of the bad reviews described here. This office will give you a lot frustration and its just better to go with a different practice. No matter how much benefit of doubt you give them, they will push the boundaries again and again.
This location isn’t ran as well as the location in Alpharetta. Rude and unprofessional front desk and nurse aids. I always wait at least 45 mins after my appointment before I’m taken to the back and the. Wait another 30-40 min before Dr. evens comes in. I’m thinking it because of the slow, lazy and team that’s on their phones vs. staying on task. I also don’t like how my visits seem very in and out like I’m just a number not a person. I plan on finding a new OBGYN.
Decent office. When I arrived I was told to leave a pee sample then return to the waiting room to be called. When I opened the door in the bathroom to leave the cup/ sample, there was one in there already which is gross. Especially since I was the only one in the waiting room. Other than that the visit was fine. I saw Dr. Dannemann and she was kind, friendly and patient. She explained things to me when I asked and I didn’t wait long to see her.
The OBGYN care team eased my worries about the LEEP procedure with their relaxed approach and helpful advice. Recovery was SMOOTH, and I felt well taken care of throughout the process!
Ive been with Dr.Smith since 2016. Once I got pregnant in 2020.... I got acquainted with all the doctors in the practice. They all have good bed side manners for the most part. But all in all, All I want anytime/every time is Mrs. Annie!!!!
This doctors office is great! :) I started seeing them when I moved to Atlanta. Its been over a year now and Im still happy. I see Dr Yvette Smith and she is very knowledgeable and listens to my concerns. I saw Dr Michael Dawson for an IUD placement and he was very kind and knowledgeable, as well. The staff is super friendly, the office is incredibly clean and tidy.*My only complaint and the reason for 4 instead of 5 stars is the wait time. I have waited here for an appointment before for 4 hours. I dont really know why it takes so incredibly long. But, I have come to expect it. I love the office so much that I put up with it. Hope my review helps with your decision. :)**Update to review to 5 stars.
First time I visited this location, it took more than 30 mins for me to be seen my Dr. Leah Johnson. The nurse said she normally runs behind. The people were nice, so I gave them the benefit of the doubt.Second time, it took OVER an hour to see Dr. Leah Johnson. While I was waiting in the lobby, another client came out and made a big fuss about her appointment being behind an hour behind. She cancelled her appointment, said she’d never be back & sadly that was her first time. When finally seeing Dr. Johnson, she came in she didn’t acknowledge her being behind or inconsiderate of my time. I also felt like my appointment was rushed because she was so behind.I will not be back. Would not recommend. Although they are nice, appointments are scheduled for a reason. No one wants to wait around for long periods of time.. we ALL have things to do. This office is very inconsiderate of ones time. I can say that, now that I’ve been more than once. I also noticed that the nurses/Dr aren’t as thorough as I’ve once had before. I’ve had to call to get updates about my appointment with the Dr.I’m new to the area. Definitely do your research on offices before going in and wasting your time. The reviews normally hold lots of truth.
I love this practice! Dr. Smith is so patient and she genuinely cares about her patients and babies. The practice runs smoothly, and my wait time has never been excessive. My biggest compliment to the practice is that they are non-alarmist, and truly provide knowledge and education to new moms to make informed decisions about their medical care. I have never felt forced or uniformed about all the decisions that need to be made during pregnancy. I would recommend to any friends who are pregnant or trying to get pregnant, and will definitely plan to continue going to this practice for future pregnancies.
Dr. Jeffers is top notch! I enjoy my appointments and she’s always so kind and had my best interest at heart for my delivery. The ease of making appointments, check-ins and the nursing staff is wonderful. I met with a few other docs from this practice during my stay at Northside who were also kind and knowledgeable. I highly recommend this practice and Dr. Jeffers and this was my first baby/delivery experience.
We changed to AWS when we moved to Atlanta. Extremely poor on punctuality and impersonal approach from doctors who always seemed rushed. We had 13 visits for my wife during her pregnancy and today a follow up postpartum appointment with the same experience. The average wait time was 2.0 hours. Some days 2.5 hours. Doctor only sees my wife for average of 3/5 minutes. My wife dreaded these appointments because she needed to juggle our toddler during this time as well. Even after mentioning her frustrations nothing was ever done or followed up on. A extremely negative experience compared to what we had experienced in the Alpharetta branch which was world class.
I been going to this clinic for about 8 years now, i think they are wonderful. I have been seen Dr. Johnson for 4 years now and she delivered both of my babies. The experience was really pleasant and while I was at the hospital she made sure to call and come over to see how I was doing. I saw some people complaining about the waiting time and in just like any other clinic you have to wait to see the doctor. Sometimes is and hour sometime am in and out. It really depends on what has happened to previous patients.
Dr. Johnson and her attentive staff have been taking care of me these last 13 years since moving to the Greater Atlanta area. Their kindness, understanding, and excellent care have gotten me through two miscarriages and are now are answering all of my questions and concerns moving through menopause. Dr. Johnson is very knowledgeable, she educates you about your care, and offers multiple options to help guide your decision making for your overall health. You get the impression she is very interested in you living your best life. I highly recommend Dr. Johnson as your OB/GYN for any woman at any stage of life.
****UPDATE****While initially my review of this place was positive. My last few visits have not been so positive. I have had 3 appoints in the last few months, and each time Ive waited over an HOUR to even be called. Then another hour spent waiting to see the doctor. Looking at some of the other reviews. This seems to be a common complaint. I decided to switch to another OBGYN. As it doesnt seem as if AWS is looking to improve patient experience.Loved using this group. My main doctor was Dr. Smith, but when she was booked, I felt comfortable with the other doctors as well. Dr Smith was personable, professional, knowledgeable, put me at ease when I had worry, and had timely communication to my emails. I would definitely recommend her and/or this entire group to anyone looking for an OB. I was happy with convenience of both office locations, and never had any parking issues.
Who knew pelvic floor therapy could be transformative? My pelvic floor therapy therapist was all kinds of awesome, mixing expert advice with a dose of humor that made those awkward exercises so much easier to bear!
Please save yourself the frustration and heartache of dealing with this practice. It was my partners first pregnancy. We initially met with Dr. Yvette Smith who is great! Very knowledgeable, kind and patient.A week later (Thursday) at our second appointment we got our first ultrasound. Unfortunately, there was no heartbeat. The tech conducting the ultrasound was very dry and non empathetic to the fact that there was no heartbeat. When we asked if we could hear it her response was There aint no heartbeat. Youll have to ask the doctor about it.After sitting in a room for 30 mins Dr. Dannemann came in with the same dry and cold energy as the ultrasound tech. Basically tells us that our pregnancy is non viable but we have to wait a week for a second ultrasound to confirm. BUT theres only ONE full time ultrasound tech for the entire practice and shes on vacation!! We ended up having to call over the weekend as the miscarriage started on Friday night. The on call dr. was once again Dr. Dannemann, who instructed us to just wait and that there was nothing she could do except hopefully get us on the list for Monday. The doctor gave us no info on what to expect or what to do if we began experiencing any issues. But funny enough the lady at the window was sure to tell us how much we owed!We went to Emory instead and got taken care of immediately!!
Dealing with fibroids was tough, but the OBGYN specialists here knew their stuff, and offered me solutions that ACTUALLY WORKED!!! Their genuine care made a huge difference.
I have been a patient of AWS for nearly 15 years. I have seen a number of providers and have always received top notch care. The physicians have delivered my babies, performed multiple surgeries, and have always treated me as an individual and a person, never a statistic. Thank you fir your support and care! I highly recommend this practice to anyone needing gynecological care or a new physician!
The staff is very friendly, polite and welcoming and the office is very neat and clean. Dr.Dawson is intelligent, compassionate and a caring person and a truly outstanding doctor, he was enthusiastic and encouraging, his bedside manner is top quality. Dr.Dawson took his time to listen carefully and advised according to my health concerns and I left the office feeling good about my health and also knowing that I have support and guidance if needed. Dr. Dawson is someone you should consider visiting and if I was still in Atlanta Ga he would still be my doctor but Im a hour and a half way.
Have four kids and have been to three different doctors due to moving. Their practice is great- I like Jeffers and Smith the best, but everyone I’ve seen is fine. They always make plenty of time to answer questions, helped me monitor for problems as I’ve had high risk pregnancies, etc. The office wait time is average- usually in and out in 1.5 hours, sometimes shorter. No complaints.
Booked a first time doctors appointment with Dr Johnson at 8am, after waiting an hour in the waiting room, I asked the receptionist how much longer - she said the doctor arrived late; she’s not sure how much longer it will be. The bathroom was filled with open urine sample, very unsanitary condition. No communication, unprofessional physician and lack of cleanliness.
This entire experience has outraged me. I was a new patient to this practice and I will never return. The wait time was near 1 hr after my appointment, and then my experience with the physician herself was terrible. Dr. Wyatt-Hathaway had very poor bedside manner. Im an RN, and she acted like my educated thoughts on different thoughts or diagnoses about my health were stupid/outrageous/unimportant. She brushed it off like it was not important and not even a feasible possibility for my health to be a certain way. THEN, she billed my insurance for the diagnosis she didnt even help me with! The blood work she so graciously offered to me after she discredited my thoughts about blood level imbalances they did not get enough blood work, when I gave plenty of tubes and have very easy veins to stick did not even provide any answers for the diagnosis she billed me for. Then to add insult to injury their office manager would not excuse the very small fee in order to ensure patient satisfaction. I explained that I did not feel that I got the time/treatment I deserved, especially because my number one concern was pretty much brushed off. I also mentioned that Im a healthcare professional as well and that in my facility we always go above and beyond to make sure our patients are satisfied with their experiences. This was a mere $25 dollars to the practice, practically NOTHING, but it meant a lot to me to see some sort of retribution to the poor experiences I was having there. Im very frustrated with her and this entire practice. Ive only been there once, but Ill definitely keep writing reviews and will never recommend anyone to go there!
Love, love, LOVE this practice! After leaving my previous practice and doing some research, I was referred to this practice by a family member. Its not extremely close to home (about a 45 minutes drive), but it is well worth it for me. I have always received the best care, and the administrative staff is extremely courteous and professional.Dr. Smith just delivered my second child (we switched doctors after our first was born), and the experience was better than I could have ever expected. She was calm yet very attentive. I highly recommend this practice, and Dr. Smith in particular, to anyone looking!
I was referred to Dr. Johnson by a very close friend and fellow alumni whose opinion I value. I arrived at my appointment promptly and I was seen by Dr. Johnson within 20 minutes. It was satisfactory. I scheduled a 2nd appt for a consultation about 4 months later and I had a totally different experience. I waited about 40 minutes in a room with the door closed without anyone giving me a status update or to at least peak in and say Dr. Johnson will be with you shortly. I ended up rescheduling prior to leaving unseen by Dr. Johnson. I chose to reschedule with Dr. Juanita Hathaway. I arrived promptly once again a week later, only to check-in with the receptionist, then sit down only to receive a text within seconds that said Kelly, Dr. Juanita Wyatt Hathaway is running 40 min behind schedule. and the front desk receptionist had no idea. She then asked Would you like to reschedule? By the way, I never received a call, a text, or an email regarding the 1st scenario re: Dr. Johnsons never showing and probably wont receive the courtesy this time either.
Terribly unorganized and doctors lack knowledge for sure. The first time I was in, after explaining my symptoms I was completely gaslit, ignored, and given useless pamphlets that didn’t address my issues (no ultrasound, literally had to beg for blood work). They never got back with me about the results until I called and messaged multiple times. When I came back for a follow up I waited over 1.5 hours before seeing the doctor, who had no idea I’d been fasting for blood work (like read your chart MAAM) and again, gaslit me, ignored my symptoms, and was quite condescending and harsh. I ended up going to another doctor who was able to diagnose and solve my issue in one visit. Would not recommend.
Friendly office staff, horrible time management. You will wait over 1hr for appointment. Bathroom is disgusting and trash is overflowing. The pencils for the urine samples are gross as there is no way to tell if they are clean. I gave it two tries and I left very unsatisfied with the slow service. Nurse left door wide open when discussing test results, so much for HIPPA. Don’t waste your time, or energy just save a headache and go elsewhere.
Highly, highly recommend Dr Dawson & Dr Jeffers. Both have great bedside manner. Dr Jeffers really made me feel heard and like she took me seriously. Dr Dawson delivered my baby boy and did a phenomenal job with my c section (have several surgeons in my family who said it was one of the best c section scars they’ve ever seen). Dr Hathaway is also phenomenal. I was admitted during my pregnancy once and she was on the ball and gave great care!
5 stars because of Dr. Leah V. Johnson. She is the absolute best at what she does. Im moving an hour away, and I will make that hour drive to see Dr. Johnson. She has performed 2 surgeries on me, and both have been flawless. As a black woman, finding the right doctors is so important to me, and as long as Dr. Johnson is practicing, I will continue to go to her.
Their gynecologists respect your time, unlike other doctors in Atlanta who make you wait for 1-2 hours. Just used them twice so far but I hope they keep it up! Being a working mom, im always on a tight schedule and I thank you for respecting that
I tried to hold off on leaving a negative review, however as I sit here going on 60 minutes waiting for a regular OB appointment I can no longer give AWS the benefit of the doubt. I’ve had 8 appointments here so far and I was seen in a timely manner for 1. And it’s because I was the second appointment at 7:30am with Dr. Levenson. I’ve seen Smith, Johnson, and Hathaway and found them all to be lacking in an appropriate bedside manner and generally not personable. On average I’ve waited for at least an hour for each appointment, generally only to be seen for a quick Doppler, and then gone. Only Levenson has sat down and taken the time to ask what questions I have. Hathaway was actually walking out the door when she asked if I had questions, and I did. It’s just not reassuring whether your having your first or fifth baby to feel like you’re being ushered out. It’s not ideal that you have to pay for parking, but I think that’s just Atlanta for you. It’s $5.The bathrooms are also generally gross, no matter the time of day. Toilet paper on the floors, loose rolls not on the holders, sometimes missing toilet paper, alcohol wipe wrappers on the floor. Little things like that, that make you go hmmm.I appreciate the thoroughness of requiring masks and having COVID protocols, but there are no circumstances where you can bring a partner with you, not the anatomy scan, nothing. This is NOT the case at all OB offices, and there are NO exceptions even if you and your partner are vaxed, and still compliant with wearing a mask. So if it is important to you to have a partner with you, this is not the place for you.At this point I’m 32w so it’s kind of late to switch providers. I thought this would be convenient for my job in Sandy Springs, but it’s not worth the inconvenience to have my time completely disregarded appointment after appointment.Only expect an US at your first appointment and 20w anatomy scan. No others unless they think something is wrong, although I’m not sure how that is ascertained in a 4 minute appointment. We got 1 picture from the anatomy scan, even though they printed at least a dozen, so that was disappointing, especially as a FTM who dealt with infertility. The stars given are really only for Dr. Levenson and the nursing staff who are generally pleasant and competent. Go somewhere else unless you don’t have other things to do during the day and enjoy gross bathrooms.
Loved my experience w Dr Jeffers. I had an appointment at 9:30am and got there 9:10. Check in was smooth and I went back without waiting more than 20 minutes. The nurse was nice and happy and pleasant. She answered all my questions and didn’t judge me about some of the silly ones. The longest time I waited was when I was waiting for Dr Jeffers to come in, probably another 20 minutes. Once she came in it was quick and easy. It was my first Pap Smear and she was gentle and not rushed. She told me everything she was going to do and said we could stop at any point. Highly recommend!
I’ve been going to AWS for several years now to see Dr Levenson. I’ve always had a good experience. I once had to see Dr Smith—she was ok but not quite my style. Dr Levenson is always patient and willing to answer my questions and take time with me. It sucks that so many reviews talk about having to wait for so long for their appointment to start. I think the most I’ve ever had to wait is maybe 20 to 30 minutes? Considering my previous doctor in powder springs used to make me wait for up to 2 hours, it’s not that bad. I had so many issues with a reoccurring bartholins abcess one year and Dr Levenson really helped me out. The window for surgery to take care of it is small and she went out of her way to make sure I was on the surgery schedule as soon as possible. She was great during the surgery and (fingers crossed) haven’t had an issue since.
I’ve been treated badly by this Atlanta Women’s Specialist on multiple occasions by multiple doctors. I’ve been told I was over reacting when I was getting an IUD put in for the first time. My body ended up rejecting the IUD because my body was too small for it. I had one doctor go to remove my IUD for pain, but she did not talk with me before the procedure to discuss other options of birth control or what to do after. My medications that are necessary for my PTSD make pill birth control ineffective and she gave me that without looking at it like I asked her too. I would’ve kept my IUD in for a few more months had I known that. But I wasn’t even informed the birth control wouldn’t be effective until I was at the pharmacy picking it up.Then I was told I would only be spotting for a few days after the IUD removal and I was bleeding heavily for two weeks. I went in again to speak with another doctor to make sure everything was going okay. When I asked her to see me before she gave me an exam, she was extremely rude to me. I just wanted to tell her the situation that was going on and why I was worried. She was condescending and I had to ask her why she was acting that way. She had told me she scheduled an ultra sound. My appointment was at 2, but when we spoke with the person who schedules it , they said the ultra sound person had been out SINCE 11:30 AM!This place has been horrible to me with multiple doctors. DO NOT GO HERE
Find a better place for prenatal care. These people are severely money driven. Also their systems do not work most of they time they can not pull up your information. They dont value people over profit, they dont have a billing system and requires money upfront before actually treating you like a human. They want me to pay $863 for one appointment. Oh and they will cancel your appointments with no phone calls and say it was a web request. Then will not follow up with you about rescheduling or future prenatal care. I dont know if its because Im a woman of color and thats why im being treated this way. But they do not care about you as a pregnant woman or human being. Terrible place for pregnant women.Update: I paid upfront for all labs and my one appointment i had which turned me off from this place. Today is may and im getting a bill for extra money after staff members told me they cant bill people. WHY AM I RECEIVING A BILL? RIP OFF
I had my first good night’s sleep in weeks after my visit with their menopause specialist. I had severe hot flashes even with my ac on full blast and had to take some time off work to finally see a menopause specialist. My doctor advised me with dietary changes and additional supplements and i feel so much better! Thank you
Pros-nice and clean-they see you in a timely manner (within 30mins of your appointment time)-staff is friendlySome cons:-you have to pay for parking.-their communication is horrible.I was called to schedule a follow up visit and made an appointment with a nurse over the phone. I was later called back about 3 days after that, but missed the call. I was left a voice message basically saying that my appointment was rescheduled without even asking what my availability was. When I called back to let them know that day didn’t work with me because I work and cant just drop what I’m doing, they told me that was the only availability they had and they couldn’t make any accommodations although THEY changed MY appointment date without MY consent. Furthermore, I decided to give them a second chance. I called again to reschedule the appointment (for birth control), this time they said that I couldn’t reschedule the appointment for another two weeks because I had to be on my period in order to receive the birth control. This caught me by surprise because no one ever told me that, not the nurse or the doctor. On top of that, when the nurse rescheduled my appointment without asking me, I wasn’t on my period that day anyways, so if I was able to come in and I “needed to be on my period” they either wouldn’t have been able to give me the birth control or give it to me and the nurse just made that up. So it would’ve been more inconvenient than it already was! Took this as a sign that I just didn’t need to get it from here! Customer service matters.
Go somewhere else....I am very disappointed...I’ve been a patient of Dr. Smith’s at AWS for over 10 years (back when they were off windward parkway). Sadly, I’m leaving this practice...Dr. Smith is the only reason for the 3 stars...she’s a great doctor. However...budget at least 2-3 hrs for a normal Gyno appointment here. The last 3 or 4 years the wait time inside the waiting room and the exam room has become ridiculous. In past appointments Ive waited 2 hours past my appointment time to see the doctor. No one came by to check on me or tell me there was a delay...they just left me in the exam room. Today I arrived at 10:35 for my 10:45 appointment and at 11:25 I was still in the waiting room (just as the past few years) so I left. I watched as patient after patient (who arrived after me) was called back while I sat there. Very unprofessional to be routinely late....Find another practice where you’ll have a face and a name instead of just another appointment....sad!Update: here for my annual..1045am appointment (was here early again...a girl can dream, right?)..called back at 11:20am. Still in siting room at 11:53am and still haven’t seen the doc.
Ive had the worst experience at the Doctors Office. I have been several times and each time you end up waiting around 45 mins - 1 hr waiting to see the doctor. Even if you get taken to a room before then you have to continue to wait a tremendous amount of time in the room. One time I left my appointment after waiting for an hour, it was absolutely ridiculous. Also, they have messed up on my payments more than once. Never heard about a bill until it came from their collections agency. This has happened twice. They have my contact information on file so why was I not notified properly? Also - you have to pay to park there which is ridiculous that they dont validate since they make you wait so long. Not worth going here, I suggest finding another practice.
Highly recommend Dr Johnson & Dr Smith. Great supporting staff, location & overall experience. I had a challenging pregnancy and this team made me feel safe throughout the experience
Have been going here for 8 years and loved my NP who I just found out left the practice so I saw a new doctor. Her bedside manner was not that great and she didnt wash her hands in the room before proceeding. She was moving through the motions so fast I didnt realize it until after the fact. Said I was gonna receive a mammogram order, never got the paperwork on that among many other issues. They seem to be rushing people through more than paying attention. I will not be going back. I want my NP back.
The only reason why Im giving three stars is because I like Dr. Smith. My upset is with the billing. My first incident they charged $200 then realized they did it incorrectly said they would me a refund. I called then 3 months later inquiring and they stated they never received a signature from whomever. I had to ask to get it expedited. Second incident I went in for my first pregnancy check up Thurs and when checking out I was told I will speak to someone about the insurance billing for pregnancy. No worries I thought. On Monday, I recieved an email for a $887 bill. Confused I check to see if my claim was processed via my insurance company no avail. Luckily, I checked my vmail the young lady states she looked at my deductible and I will owe over 2,000 for all of my visits, delivery, and post partum. I had to pay 887 of it on my next visit and so on and so forth until Im paid in full by 20 weeks. I have no problems paying the bill, but for you to not send me an itemized copy and discuss option is out right rude. Especially, for a first time pregnancy. I felt like I was told what I was going to do.UPDATE: I spoke with Ilyana ( pregnancy billing) about how baffling it is to receive an email with a payment reminder of 887.00 without additional information. I advised her it worried me and I contacted my insurance company, due to not noticing her voicemail until later. Her nonchalant response was thats what I do I send an email, because people say they dont get my voicemail. I advised it was very misleading, especially for a first time pregnancy. Again, nonchalantly she stated thats what she does to get people to call her and moved on to taking payment. I told her dont worry about Ill find another obstetricians. She was okay with it, so I am too.
Their practice is impossible to communicate with. Trying to communicate with their insurance person, doctors, or nurses is such a pain! You have to call 3, 4 or 5 times to get an answer. Most of the time I end up speaking to the scheduler to get help.In terms of their practice, they dont really give you a personalized experience. They just treat you like a dollar sign. In addition, they have 7 doctors on staff, when we a questions we received incorrect and inconsistent answers from 4 different doctors. This was not okay when we were trying to make decisions. The only reason that I gave them 2 stars is because out of the 7 doctors, 2 of them were honest and treated us with respect by being truthful about our concerns.I think exploring different options for your pregnancy is best.
Today was my last appointment with Atlanta Womens Specialist. While Ive had a good experience with two of the doctors (Dr. Smith and Dr. Angus), it doesnt matter if I always have issues booking appointments and actually seeing the doctor. Today was the second time that I booked an ultrasound appointment and, when I arrived, the office only had me down for a regular prenatal checkup. Its pretty disappointing when you expect to find out your babys gender and, instead, end up firing your doctor. My previous appointment was cancelled because, a few days before my appointment, the front office called to tell me Dr. Angus was on call that day. My first appointment (where all they needed to do was confirm I was pregnant) took 2.5 hours. Maybe these transgressions are okay for others, but I feel my time is just as valuable as the doctors and I cant continue to use a doctor or a doctors office that clearly has no respect for other peoples time.
I went in today for an annual checkup. I came in 15 mins before my appointment 15 mins early and had to wait a whole an hour and 15 mins. I told the nurse that I am in a rush because I have to be back on time to pick up my kids at school bus stop. I was told I am free to leave. When Dr. Yvette Smith came in, I told her that I am not very happy that I had to wait for this long. Without any sign that she feels there is anything wrong with letting your patient / customer waiting for over an hour, She said You could have left. I told her that i will definitely leave them for good after this. She then performed a cursory exam and pap smear in total silence without asking anything about my concerns / any other question. The lack of empathy or any care for their patients is appalling! This is the worst quality medical service I have ever received. I requested my medical records to be sent to my home and run.. I suggest that you do the same!!
Two thumbs down is what I give this establishment---My personal experience with this office was pretty bad. I went there for an exam and blood work. That process is still going on (3.5 weeks and counting....). I would hate to see how they would operate if I were pregnant. My primary care physician never exceeds 5 days with this type of service. Initially, I thought that my physician was the sole reason (although she was about 95% of the reason) why I did not like this place. But its the nursing staff, too. And the nursing staff consists of medical assistants. Personally, when I go to an establishment of this caliber, I would expect a little more than that. Also, even on a good day, you will still be unable to get in contact with anyone because they NEVER answer the phone. You literally have to call back numerous times in hopes of being able to speak with someone. They also have a flawd e-mail system in place that is suppose to give you the opportunity to send your physician any questions or concerns that you might have. But it doesnt work properly. I think they have just focused too much on establishing a system that promotes efficiency when dealing with patients. But I honestly believe that they have just disconnected themselves from their patients in the process. Basically, if you do not prefer an establishment/physician that operates in a disconnected and harsh manner, I would not recommend this place because they run more like a business instead of a nice, warm medical practice. Again, this is from my personal experience...
By far the most thorough obgyn offering menopause services in atlanta. My doctor listened to my menopause issues, offered possible treatments, and advised small changes to my diet to help me. To the point but not rude, professional yet caring.
👍 In the event you need to call and leave a message for a nurse, they have never failed to return my call on the same day!Dr. Jeffers is my primary doctor--the BEST! I have been scheduled to see a different doctor (needed an earlier appointment) twice now, and they are also GREAT!Excellent patient care!
I have been going to AWS for 15 years, and not one bad experience. Dr. Johnson and her Team are Phenominal!!!!Dr. Johnson ALWAYS does an Excellent Job with taking care of her PatientI did my Surgery 2weeks ago and Dr. Johnsonand her Team again another Awesome Job!!Love her and her Team.
The positive reviews simply are not real. This office will upsell procedures you do not need, they code your visits incorrectly in order to receive more money for your visit. They are not in the business of actually helping patients.
Went through all 9 months and delivery with this office. Most of my appointments were with Dr Dawson and Dr Levenson but Dr Lisa Johnson delivered my 10lb son. Everyone was pleasant except one Dr who rushed my appt and paying for parking. Other than that no complaints
Dr. Wyatt Hathaway is one of the Best doctors I have had attended to me. She gives all the required information you need and will not hide anything from you. She laughs, she smiles and is very courteous. It is so easy to communicate with her and she gets back to you promptly. She was recommended by some one to me a few years ago and I will recommend her to anyone.
LOVE LOVE LOVE Dr Dawson, he saw me through my 1st pregnancy, when delivery day came he was on vacation (Christmas) so Dr Jeffers delivered my son(emergency c-section). Fast forward to my second pregnancy and I requested Dr Jeffers so I would have her deliver my second pregnancy, she couldn’t stay through my delivery for a wedding she had to attend (she announced this as she ordered my 2nd emergency section), the delivery was completed (c-sections) by an on call Dr through their groups partnership and it was the WORST DELIVERY ever!! Aggressive and left many bruises(on myself and my son). Now, my 3rd pregnancy I requested Dr Jeffers again, she responds by asking me at my 1st appt if I wanted an abortion, and mid way through my 3rd pregnancy, I rejected many common place tests due to seeing no need as it’s the same mother and father, Dr Jeffers broke up with me via certified letter ... I went to the office only to have the office manager be cold and explain I could no longer be seen, finding a new OB mid pregnancy isn’t exactly easy and I wouldn’t recommend it, nor would I reccomend this practice. In my opinion Doctor Jeffers shouldn’t be working with animals OR pregnant women.I went to this practice based on medical reviews and Dr Dawsons awards in the Atlanta area, Dr Jeffers is not a woman’s woman, and should have her license revoked. If you insist on going, Dr Dawson and Dr Angus are top superstars of the OBGYN world, IF you ask me...GOOD LUCK
W o n d e r f u l! So far so good!Thought I couldn’t feel the baby move they callled me with in 20 minutes talked to me and told me my concerns matter for me to come in. I went in they plugged me up and everything was fine. Doctor Smith took her time and talked to me patiently. I love this group even my first initial doctor was super fast and super patient. Love them!
Rebecca, the appointment setter, was wonderful. Definitely, a great 1st impression of the practice. Dr. Smith was awesome! She was very knowledgeable and PATIENT. She has GREAT bed side manners and I didnt feel RUSHED. I would give her a 10+...
Dr. Smith is horrible as she has no regard for patients time whatsoever, I called due to needing to be seen and was given a 2:30 appointment here it is 3:26 as I type this and still havent been seen even the staff said shes always running behind. My doctor-Dr. Jeffers would never, as she is prompt and respects patients time however shes on maternity leave. I will never see Dr. Smith again well I never actually saw her because shes slower than a sloth.Absolutely horrible!
I’ve had pretty severe menopausal symptoms and had to skip work for 2 days until i finally scheduled an appointment with my menopause specialist. I felt significantly better after a week of following my customized treatment plan thank you so much
Ive always been nervous about medical visits, but the warm environment and kind staff here always put me at ease. This is the OBGYN near me that I trust wholeheartedly.
I have been a patient for 5 years with both my children. I have seen most of the doctors and NPs in the practice and have always had a great experience. I would not base not going to them just on the comments regarding their receptionist/administration staff if youve had issues. At the end of the day you are there to find the right physician. Think about going to your favorite restaurant and having a bad experience with a hostess but everything else was wonderful, especially your meal. I enjoy the location off of Old Milton, if you are able to get to that one over the one at Meridian I highly recommend it. Its free parking and doesnt seem as crowded as the Atlanta location. There is a patient portal you can make appointments, ask questions, pay bills and get your history on. I have my favorite doctor there but will not say names in fear they will be booked up! If you are expecting then I suggesting meeting all of the drs at least once because when it comes to delivery chances are you will get a different dr. on that day.
Ive had nothing but great experiences from annual visits, to pregnancy and birth and even emergencies!! Dr. Marcus is my regular doctor, whom I adore, but every doctor Ive seen there has been great! Sometimes the wait is long, but to me its worth it for the best care!
I was a new patient to this practice. On the last two visits, I did not see the practitioner until an hour plus after the scheduled appointment time. On the last appointment, wait time was over 90 minutes, near close to 2 hours. I was told after waiting nearly 2 hours that there had been an ‘emergency’, but there was no communication to this effect upon arrival or even after waiting an hour. Moreover upon complaining about the excessive wait time, I was given an attitude by the hourly desk employee. I am of the opinion that having a patient repeatedly wait for over an hour is disrespectful, uncaring and rude. As such, I do not recommend this practice, and I have found another provider.
Dr. Dawson is the best! I drive over 120 miles to his office. He is very knowledgeable and his nurse is super sweet! The whole staff has been nothing but nice to me since I starting going to him over a year ago!!!
I saw Dr. Angus for most of my visits and he was great! This was my second pregnancy and I really wanted a VBAC and he was completely on board. He informed me of thr risks but still honored what my husband and I wanted. I labored with Dr. Dawson and delivered with Dr. Jeffers and they both had the same mindset. It was a wonderful pregnancy and and an incredible labor process. I successfully delivered my son by VBAC. I was really impressed with this practice.
I am 40+, i asked Dr. Leah Johnson that HPV vaccine would have effect to a woman like my age? She said yes, women with all ages can get the vaccine get the protection. So i trusted her and got the HPV vaccine right away. Then i asked her that how many viruses this vaccine can protect? ( it because i know that the newest HPV vaccine can protect 9 viruses. She has no clue at all. Then she or nurse brought me some flyers on which has not any informations about it. Then a nurse told me that i should look it up on CDC web. So after i got home, see what i found on CDC is bellow: Vaccination is not recommended for everyone older than age 26 years. However, some adults ages 27 through 45 years may decide to get the HPV vaccine based on discussion with their clinician, if they did not get adequately vaccinated when they were younger. HPV vaccination of people in this age range provides less benefit, for several reasons, including that more people in this age range have already been exposed to HPV.So Dr. Leah Johnson doesnt know that the HPV vaccine is not recommended for my age or Dr. Leah Johnson doesnt care about the patient. She just like to make money out of the patient???For sure i dont recommend Dr. Leah Johnson for her professionalism and her ethics.
I am going to this practice for second pregnancy. I had a terrible experience. Office staff are very rude. They never call me to infom my test results. I have to call them several times because most of the time it will go to voicemail and the never call me back. Once doctor changed by prescription dosage after my blood work but nurse didnt call me. When I asked them why I didnt get a call, she said we updated in patient portal. But their patient portal i not working at all. I cant see any of my test results there or new prescription there. I told about this in the front office she just said we know that, it is a known issue with our website. I dont understandwhy they didnt call me if they know their website is not working properly. Stay away from this practice.
I arrived to my 915 am appointment at 907am, notified them that I arrived and was told to wait outside the building because doctor was running behind. Guess what, it’s 1007 and I am still outside. Last time I was here a week and a half ago, waited for 40 minutes outside, than 40 minutes in the hall and about 60 min in examination room. Why it’s talking 3 hours to see the doctor? You do not respect your patients’ time at all! Do not tripple book and your doctors will not be running behind. Also people on check out do not know how to check eligibility and how much to charge for a visit, but this is another story. I like my doctor, that’s why I returned, but this is awful experience with clinic in general
I’ve been meaning to leave a review for quite some time, if i could give 10 stars i would.
AWS has no sympathy for the COVID situation. They refuse to work together to extend prescriptions for enough time to get an appointment and get it renewed - do not care that the entire world was shut down and we could not make/go to an appointment to get prescription renewed. Nurse had a terrible attitude and would not care to discuss. Shame on you AWS.
Absolutely trash billing department- they can easily take your money but spend multiple months refunding YOUR own moneyEditHow billing department went from bad to worse , now they aren’t even answering your calls, before that it was just false promises of reviewing and will give refund but now it’s nothing !
I dont know about any of the other doctors but I have to say that Dr. Angus Stanley is the best doctor Ive ever been too. Hes very hands on and answers any of my questions. He also tells me everything I need to know. Very soft spoken and nice. He delivered my first child and will be with my 2nd one on the way. I highly recommend going to him.
Really love this office. Went to this office for the second time today for my annual exam. Dr. Sarah Jeffers made me feel like she really cared about me as a person/patient. The staff was professional and courteous. Wait time was, imo, fairly short.
Ive been going to the Meridan Mark location for 4 years now and am very, very happy. I have seen Dr. Sarah Jeffers and Roza Pacifico, WHNP-BC. They are both wonderful! They take time for you to ask questions and answer any you may have. The web portal is a wonderful tool to use for sending prompt test results, as well as confirming appointment changes. I typically receive results of my exams within 2-3 days using this portal. Gabby and the other lady that answers the phone are also wonderful! No matter how many times Ive called and had to change appointments, theyve never been rude or rushed off the phone (even when I could hear other lines ringing!) While, I will say that it seems like it takes longer for the appointment setters to answer than it used to, I can only chalk that up to having lots going on and other calls to answer ahead of me. Ive always been seen close to my appointment time. All in all, everyone at the Meridan Mark location (from the front desk staff, to the nurse/assistant that takes your vitals, to the lady that draws blood, and the lady that checks you out when leaving) is WONDERFUL!!!!
I did NOT have a good experience. To begin with the physician spend the minimal amount of time you, they do the basic doctor talking and then they transfer you to the techs or nurse practitioners.Secondly, the MD the I was consulted with, she said that she was going to send me to a specialist, after I got a HSG , and some blood test done. I never got a referral to a specialist. What she meant when she said that is that I have to find a specialist on my own.I have a HSG test done, this test is expensive ( $1666), and I never had a follow up. Basically, she order this test for nothing. After I got my bill for the HSG, I told the doctor that it was billed with wrong code, because my insurance did not pay for everything. It would not cost me a thing if it was billed as a diagnostic procedure, instead, but they billed as a minor surgery, therefore Im responsible for 80% of the bill. My doctor said that there is nothing that she can do about that. She said that it was really a minor surgery and not a diagnostic procedure as I was told it would be. I wish, I was at least advised before about this procedure, but they DONT CARE!Finally, I do not recommend anybody to go through the same thing, Ive been through. If you want to find a decent OBGYN, maybe you should google before and see reviews about it. I did not see the reviews for AWS before I went there, otherwise I would never go. Stay away from this place!
My friend had an annual checkup on Friday September 7th with Dr. Sara Jeffers where she was thoroughly insulted about her weight. The point of the visit was to have an annual examination not a opinionated view of what Dr. Jeffers perceived as a weight problem. Dr. Jeffers also neglected to ask about ANYTHING concerning her sexual health because she was hyper focused on fixing her weight issue. My friend was extremely uncomfortable with her targeted questions regarding her weight and will not be returning to this location for any medical assistance. A word of advice for Dr. Jeffers, if your patient DOES NOT mention their weight as a problem, please DO NOT assume that they have an issue with it and are not comfortable in their skin! Your suggestions were viewed as judgmental and mean not helpful.
I’ve had the same gynecologist in atlanta for over 9 years and she has been attentive and thorough with every visit. When i come in to my appointment scared and worried, she makes sure i leave reassured and at ease. Thank you
Gave them my insurance information before I came. I had to use an uber there only to tell me they dont take my insurance. Thats time and money. Run insurance before making an appointment.
Not happy about this place. I drove all the way out of Atlanta to avoid the unnecessary wait times and the paid parking. It was empty but I still had to wait AND pay for parking. Additionally, they close at 2:30 on Fridays which is hugely inconvenient. I just need a refill on my prescription, so now Ive got to go the entire weekend without BC. Ill be taking my business elsewhere.
Dr. Johnson, Dr. Jeffers and all the providers and staff at AWS are the absolute best! They always listen to any concerns, make sure to follow up, and address any health issues. I couldn’t ask for better providers.
I would have given this 5 stars but they need to do something about the wait time sometimes it is way to long especially if I have to work or pick my daughter up from school. Other than that this is a great doctors office the doctors are nice very informative and answer all your questions very thoroughly. My favorite doctor there is dr. johnson i highly reccomend her, she is awesome and very down to earth.
Dr. Leah Johnson provides excellent care! She is caring, a good listener, knowledgeable, and thorough. I highly recommend her services.
I love it here. Dr.Smith and her team has taken well care of me and my pregnancies! They are helpful and show that they truly care about their patients.
Dr. Levenson is awesome! She has a great bedside manner, and makes you feel completely at ease! The other doctors and staff are very nice as well!
Waited almost an hour for my appointment, dirty bathroom on a Monday morning (including a uncovered urine samples - 1 left there from the previous week), and doesnt validate parking
Ive been going here for years and their service has drastically decreased. The communication/service is awful and there was no sympathy for their wrongdoing. This place will be a waste of your time/gas! I will be finding a new doctor
I have nothing but good things to say about this practice. I see Dr. Jeffers and she has been great with any concerns I have and with managing/keeping up with my health issues and communicating with my other doctors.
I have been coming her for 20 years. Ive never had to wait very long and follow up and any kind of after care has been above reproach. I love the staff and the doctors.
I was going to go here because I read about Dr. Dawson and he was going to be my choice but when I called to make an appointment the lady who picked up the phone was super rude. She sounded like she didn’t care to be at work and do her JOB. So back to the drawing board.
I have been going to this practice for many years, it has become impossible to communicate with this office. Their recordings are so long it is time consuming to even leave a message. I dread ever having to call them.
Dr Smith always takes time to answer my questions, she is thorough, friendly and very knowledgeable. Everyone here is A++ Ive never waited more than 15 mins to go back.
I love them. They found my issue when no one else could. They have been amazing to take care of it. And now I’m having a high risk baby with them and I couldn’t be happier ❤️
Dr. Smith does not care about her patients. She is insensitive and incompetent. Not to mentiom she takes over an hour just to see her patients. I will never come to her again.
Dr. Dawson is a caring and wonderful doctor. The entire experience was efficient, reassuring & informative. Two thumbs up!
Ive been their patient for years. Very attentive menopause specialist, pleasant staff, and accessible office location in atlanta.
I like Dr. Smith. It would be nice to get an answer when I call the office though. What office just lets the phone just ring with no answering service or voicemail option????
Very clean, welcoming office! All of the nursing staff and physicians are professional and friendly.
Wondeful staff! Dr Leah Johnson is a wonderful doctor! Great bedside manners!!!!!
Sarah jeffer She is very professional I like the way she takes you through step by step during check up .
The worst experience ever, I left my appointment in complete shock that is was so bad! I will not be returning!
The ABSOLUTE worst office. They will not return phone calls, refuse to answer basic questions and have zero bedside manners. Do not go here
Horrible experience. If your pregnant, stay away
Dr Dawson is the best!
Dr. Johnson is the best
Nothing but greatness!!!
