I had an absolutely incredible experience giving birth in L&D at Anschutz. I cannot speak highly enough about the incredible staff who helped me through the most beautiful, vulnerable, emotional, and challenging thing I’ve ever done. From start to finish, the care I received was above and beyond. For every decision made, I was given all the information I needed to be informed and was made to feel empowered in whatever I decided to do. My primary nurse, Shayla is someone I will never ever forget. There simply could not be a better nurse. She made the experience for me. My midwife, Cate Cherry as well was incredible throughout my whole pregnancy and was the most encouraging and wonderful person to help welcome my daughter into the world. The anesthesia staff who helped were also fantastic- Sean who was a resident and Jason the attending. The other nurses who worked with me were Bri and Kat and they were compassionate, present, focused, and loving. I felt completely comfortable with them and they took such wonderful and gentle care of me. They are marvelous people. I will forever remember each of these staff members. Thank you for a wonderful experience.

Pretty traumatic experience for my first time giving birth, dont think I would go here again. The c section and surgery team were awesome, but afterwards the nursing care was not responsive at all and I ended up leaving the hospital two days sooner than I had planned to.My baby was hypoglycemic trying to breastfeed only and the nursing team would not bring him a bottle til 30 minutes or an hour after he had tried to latch and had been screaming all that time. They kept saying they would be right back with a bottle and then wouldnt come for awhile. Couldnt even call for someone, they said their call system was malfunctioning. They would come into my room and just grab my body and the babys head to try to force latching without asking for permission - very embrassing. One specialist or another would be coming in every hour to give some resources information spiel and we couldnt hardly get any sleep. They would say they were going to get me more pain meds and then forget for a whole day or so to put in the orders.I was sobbing because the baby kept sobbing and the nurses just tried to lecture me on why I needed to keep breastfeeding. I dont think I will ever breastfeed after this trauma. Not at all the quality we expected from Anschutz!

I delivered my first baby here as a homeBirth transfer and the nurses and doctors and anesthesiologist that took care of me were absolutely amazing. I’m so grateful that I was cared for by nurse Gina and Dr. Amanda when I arrived. Once their shifts ended, nurse Carsyn and Dr. Stevie took over and my baby was born 90 minutes later. I’m forever grateful for their patience, heart felt care, love and support. They are amazing!

Went in for preterm labor. They got me set up in a room to see a midwife/Dr however after asking me to change into a gown they remembered that I needed to give a urine sample. She than lead me down two hallways past the nurses station OUT the door past the check in desk to a bathroom in the visitor waiting area. I was naked in a hospital gown….. barefoot…… like a little communication would’ve went a long way as well as a bathroom that wasn’t in the public area? Not to mention every time they need to check your cervix you get the normal statement “ugh I hate this room” “this room is never stocked” while they shuffle around for instruments and supplies all while I’m laying there fully exposed and spread. It never seems to fail. I gave so much grace during my COVID experience with delivering my last baby because of the circumstances however not with this baby they keep showing me it’s not gonna be a great experience.

I had my cerclage yesterday and I will say the staff was amazing. All I know is I had alot of people coming in and out of my room but I will say the one person the stood out was my nurse Ashley. She hands down has wonderful bedside manner and throughout the entire process she reassured me. All the doctors who took part in the process thank you.

I’ve always had a good experience here. I delivered both my girls here. Who are now 14 and 3. The staff is wonderful. I know with my oldest daughter we had a little bit of a hiccup but they made sure everything was taking care of. I have no complaints. I highly recommend having baby here.

The midwives didnt have anything ready, we were supposed to be induced in the morning, we didnt get induced untill the evening, then Ms Drexler says it was because the laber unit was full of women and the other nurses said it wasnt true. Then they put false reporting in their records, about patients. The labor and delivery has changed my appointments 6 times an hour before I arrived. The nurses are complaing they dont have enough staff and good equipment and they point the finger at the CEO. No one knows what they are doing and medical assistance do not draw blood when they are supposed to or do the glucose testing, and they keep blaming the nurses for not doing it. The blood pressure machine gives false readings because they are old, so have them do a manual one. University Hospital used to be one of the best untill they started the student program and now its a mess for the past 16 years. They have 5 students with them when they deliver your baby and alot of them are coughing. 🙄 Ive been in the nursing field 19 years and I thought Ive seen the worst, this Hospital is filthy and they leave the rooms dirty and the people preparing your food are preparing it on a dirty table without changing their gloves and the food is cold. Im going somewhere else better.

If you want to have the most amazing experience after you give birth to your little angel make sure you ask for Josie when you get up to the 5th floor. She will listen to your every word. She will take any concerns you have and make sure they get to the best person to answer and resolve those concerns. Josie truly is an angel. My wife and I are so happy to have had her assigned to our room.

I gave birth to my son there on 9-28-20, everyone from the OB ER to the labor and delivery unit was out of this world. They took such good care of me and my baby, answered all my questions, made sure I had everything I needed, all the support I needed, the lactation specialists were AMAZING! (I wish I could take one home lol) if I choose to have another baby this is definitely the place I would go again.
