Extremely Disappointing Experience - Lack of Physician Interaction and Limited Confidence in Care Team.I am deeply disappointed with my experience at Austin Fertility Clinic. I picked Austin Fertility Clinic after interviewing various clinics in the Austin area. After Dr. Maya Barsky left the clinic my care was transferred to Dr. Kavoussi. His initial pleasant demeanor and perceived engagement gave me the confidence that despite Dr. Barsky leaving, I was in good hands. Aside from my Polypectomy preop visit, that was my only interaction with him. In fact, throughout my 5 months of visits, I never once interacted with a physician. Instead, my care was managed entirely by support staff, which left me feeling uneasy and uncertain about the quality of care I was receiving as the feedback and directives varied nurse to nurse. It is crucial for patients to have confidence that their treatment is based on evidence-based medicine, and this clinic did not provide that assurance. The lack of direct communication with a qualified physician made it difficult to trust that my care was being appropriately managed or my care was being supervised by a physician. I’m intentionally writing this review while I wait on an outcome of pregnancy, because even with two positive lines I cannot recommend this clinic as providing superior care. I feel awful that I recommended this clinic to friends and neighbors prior to thoroughly vetting.Additionally, the clinic failed to run my insurance until I already had already gone through an IUI cycle and shipped all remaining vials of sperm. Only after the fact did they inform me that while I do have insurance coverage for fertility, it is not with them because they are not a certified center of excellence with UnitedHealthcare. In order to secure medical records and ship sperm to qualified center it was going to be over $1800. My wife and I chose to stay thinking the remaining three tries would come in less than $1800 but time and time again we were hit with hidden costs and surprise bills. All said and done, Austin Fertility made well over $5000 from us, I hope it goes to good use and can provide someone with a bonus. In short:I cannot recommend Austin Fertility Clinic due to their insufficient patient-physician interaction and the resulting doubts about the efficacy and quality of their care.
I usually don’t like to write reviews, especially on a topic that’s very sensitive. Two years ago my husband and I started to investigate the reason why we were having a hard time conceiving. I previously went to another fertility clinic, at the first clinic I didn’t feel comfortable at all. The doctor showed no emotions, was not caring and the office was very snooty. I felt very discouraged and thought I would never find someone that understood me. After doing research I found Austin Fertility Clinic Dr Barsky, from our very first meeting I felt at home. I am so thankful I met her, my experience has been phenomenal. The whole staff at Dr Barky’s office is so caring and nice. I know everyone is different and have different opinions, but personally I don’t have anything negative to say about the office. Thank you Dr. Barsky and staff for taking care of me!
I needed to write this review to help potential male patients considering this clinic for TRT. I came in to receive treatment to cut the costs of my current regimen, and overall raise my T levels. Once I finally was able to attend my months long wait appointment, I was greeted by a very friendly and knowledgeable doctor, Dr. Parvis. I explained my needs - save money / raise T levels - and he showed me several videos of different types of TRT methods. One of the methods was NATESTO, a nasal gel applied thorought the day, that can preserve semen count. Of all the videos shown, this one was deceptively filmed and edited to be more elusive than the other method. I agreed to the NATESTO method, and went home excited to keep my sperm count high and also raise my T levels. After agreeing to this method, I did research on this method, only to find, several negative reviews and SEVERAL YOUTUBE VIDEOS of this doctor, Dr Parvis, pushing this product across social media (even with dummy reddit accounts based out of Austin, TX). I personally work full time in social media on YouTube, and he was the only person I could find pushing this product online... Which should have raised SEVERAL red flags. Unfortunately, I was in actual need of medical assistance and I had already waited months for this appointment and left my clinic, as Dr. parvis provided me NATESTO trial pack to start ASAP until the pharmacy could fulfill my order. By the way, the trial vials were expired, and the receptionist assured me that Dr. parvis said it would be fine.Lets cut to the chase- after 1 month of administering this horrible gel into my nose 3x daily, I had to pay out of pocket to get a blood test to check my levels. My levels came back LOWER THAN MY ORIGINAL CLINIC TEST OVER 7 MONTHS AGO. I came in at 700+ and lowered to 340. So within 1 month, I had paid more, and lowered my T to to unfathomably low levels by listening to his advice. The complete opposite of why I went here in the first place. I get things arent immediate, and not all protocols are for everyone, but this was such a dramatic failure of meeting my needs, and it couldnt have happened at a worse time and nearly messed up an entire month of my life. When I let the receptionist know that my tests came back incredibly low, she advised me to take NATESTO 3X daily.... Which I was already doing!!! I told them to cancel whatever prescription they had for me and to sever ties with me as a patient. (Btw NATESTO costs nearly 1k monthly without insurance). Now we are 1 month back at my original clinic, T levels at 950, and feeling back to normal and amazing.I wrote this review to hopefully save anyone else from going through such a huge financial, physical, and time consuming loss as I did.
What a joke of a business. Number one they hit you with a consulting fee just to speak for 5 minutes about are you sure you want to reverse the procedure etc... and its over $100 for that. Then once you are done with your procedure and its time for you to give a sample, where YOU HAVE TO PAY $300 for its and not included in the $10,000 invoice that you already paid, if there is a higher than normal blood count in your analysis they send it off to another place WITHOUT discussing this with you FIRST and you receive a random invoice for another $120. This doctors office will sneak in as many fees as they can to paid their pockets. Find a better alternative than Austin Fertility. Also their front desk help are the worst to deal with.
I made a consultation appointment in January 2023. They told me on the phone it would be $100 out of pocket. Then they kept sending me bills and emails asking me to pay another $95 and saying that the $95 is not covered by my insurance. Well, why didnt they tell me when I made the appointment. If I had known the consultation cost $195 I would not have accepted the appointment. $195 out of pocket for a 30-minute consultation is outrageous. This is an unfair, deceptive and fraudulent business practice. I am going to file a complaint to FTC for consumer protection.
If you care about the safety and privacy of your medical data, I would not recommend this place. I was given the wrong embryology report and then called the next day and told the complete opposite information, which was devastating. I totally lost trust in this clinic and it made me question what else is going on behind the scenes to put patients, their health and their data at risk.
Dr. Kavoussi is the kindest doctor I’ve ever seen as a patient. From my very first appointment, I appreciated his warmth, and level of detail giving the best advice and options. He combines compassion and personal attention with extreme attention to detail. The nurses are very gentle, caring, and super sweet. They explain things clearly and answer our questions very patiently.
Ive been calling for two days to get my test results. They pick up and tell me theyre going to do it, then dont.Similar to other reviews, I get the vibe theyre main goal is to get you into a $300+ consultation.
All the 1 star reviews are spot on. This place likes to overcharge you, then they make it painfully hard to get a reimbursement.
I recently had a vasectomy with Dr. Parviz Kavoussi and cannot possibly recommend Austin Fertility enough. The office staff is courteous and helpful, and Dr. Kavoussi is amazing. He is professional yet humorous, and instantly put me at ease. He also went above and beyond to accommodate my busy schedule. The procedure - no-scalpel vasectomy - was surprisingly pain free and there were only two very brief periods of mild discomfort, and that was having denied the offered valium prescription for the procedure. On top of that, while it is ongoing, you are allowed to watch TV to distract you from worrying about whats happening. After channel surfing for most of the procedure, I found Parks & Rec and was actually laughing while the doctor finished up!The recovery was an absolute cake walk: I took Friday off from work for the day of the procedure, and afterward took one pre-emptive, over-the-counter Tylenol when I first got home, then kicked back watching movies and playing video games all weekend sitting atop rotating bags of frozen peas. I experienced no pain during the entire recovery period and was back in the office on Monday!Guys, if youve wanted to get a vasectomy, but have been understandably nervous about it, choose Dr. Parviz Kavoussi and you will have absolutely nothing to worry about! My only regret now that I have gone through the entire process, including the follow-up analysis, is that I wont have a chance to work with Austin Fertility ever again. Too bad they dont practice general family medicine on the side! ;-)
Dr. S Kavoussi.... All I have to say is that this man is amazing. I am truly blessed to have him as my doctor. I was diagnosed with endometriosis in late June of this year. Had surgery (with a different doctor), and ever since the surgery I had more complications than I had prior to going through it. I moved to Austin, TX about 6 weeks ago where I found Dr. Kavoussi. He has been nothing but wonderful! His staff is great, and when I met him, I felt comfortable almost immediately. I was able to talk to him about my condition and problems and receive answers from from him to any and all questions I have. I told him about the ongoing pain I had since my previous surgery. He rans some tests, and we were awaiting my op report from my previous surgery. I called him the following week stating I could not longer bear the pain and he was willing to see me the same day where he did an ultrasound. I had scar tissue and cysts. He scheduled an appointment for surgery and was very supportive and caring throughout. I just had my surgery yesterday, and I can tell you from having already gone through this surgery, that this time around I feel confident with what he has done. Not only is he knowledgeable, he is very caring as well. I will recommend him to anyone and everyone that I can. I am truly thankful for such a wonderful doctor!!
There are very few physicians who touch your life in a meaningful way. Dr. Shahryar Kavoussi is one of those physicians. My husband and I decided to start a family later in life (38 years) and spent almost a year working with another physician who lacked quality of care and used antiquated protocols. When we realized we were not going to be successful and had limited time left, we did a tremendous amount of research into clinics and physicians who not only had good success rates, but also based their practice on quality of care as their core mission. Once we met with Dr. Kavoussi we knew right away we found the right place and we were committed to working with him and his team through our journey towards fertility. Throughout the 2 year journey, Dr. Kavoussi was invested in our success. He knew us personally and ensured we took aggressive approaches within our limited timeframe of viable oocytes to ensure we were making the best use of our procedures. Finally on our 2nd IVF, through frozen embryo transfer, we had a little miracle and we were pregnant. I’m 12 weeks along and everything is progressing wonderfully so far.I am forever grateful to Dr. Kavoussi and his uncompromising commitment towards helping others build their families. I consider him the utmost gentleman and a dear friend.
My visit to Austin Fertility went as good as anyone could have hoped. Dr. Parviz K. Kavoussi is an excellent doctor. All my visits were quick and easy. Any men hesitating to get a vasectomy, dont. Visit Dr. Kavoussi and get it done. The procedure was quick with minimal pain. I was back to normal in a couple days. Im glad I choose this location to have it done.
We were so comfortable from the very beginning with Dr. KM Kavoussi and EVERYONE on his staff. They educated us, advised us and supported us every step of the way. Kate Odenwald, RN the IVF coordinator is one of the best healthcare professionals I have ever had the fortune to work with. She was a rock for us both. We are pregnant (with twins) after our first round of IVF and we are so glad that we chose the best fertility clinic in Austin!
Dr. Parviz Kavoussi performed my vasectomy and did a fantastic job. His office was clean and modern and i watched ESPN through the entire procedure. I healed easily and was back to work on Monday. I recommend Dr. Kavoussi whole-heartedly.
Dont go in for testing it is a sham, they give you the results then refuse to elaborate and instead force you to make a consultation to get any information about your results. If you want a piece of paper with information you cant use, then come here.
