This is long overdue, Dr. Crawford is amazing, we are beyond blessed to have such an amazing and knowledgeable doctor help us in our fertility journey. We came to Fora after going to another fertility clinic in Austin and not feeling heard or understood. In our first consultation with Dr. Crawford she asked us questions that the first fertility clinic never asked and was completely honest with us about our goals and the possibility of achieving those goals. With the consultation alone, we felt at ease and felt confident with starting our journey with the Fora team. The whole team is amazing and their patient portal made it easy to communicate with the nurses or the doctor. While Dr. Crawford was our main doctor, we had a few appointments with Dr. Skillern and from those appointments alone, I knew how great of a team they are and what a great dynamic they have created at Fora. What they have built at Fora is amazing and while a fertility journey can be hard and uneasy, they gave us hope and confidence that we would achieve our family goals. We went through two egg retrievals and one embryo transfer and the care and attention to detail we experienced at every level is unmatched! We are also at ease knowing our embryos are safely secure at Fora! We will forever be thankful for all the knowledge and expertise at Fora!
My ObGyn recommended Fora Fertility for IVF and my husband and I couldnt be happier with our experience. They are very straight forward and provided extensive educational materials for both my husband and I to best understand the processes and procedures we were going through at every step. I appreciate the short videos and diagrams thoroughness.I feel the videos helped us answer many questions and allowed for me to ask very pointed questions during the many visits with the doctor and nursing staff.During one of my visits both Dr. Crawford and Dr. Skillern were unavailable for the appointment. They had called in another fertility doctor from San Antonio to fill in. I originally had some reservations because this wasnt my doctor, but its obvious they were very mindful when selecting a practitioner to fill in for them. The experience was as pleasant and seamless!Every visit to the office was pleasant and I felt like everyone was cheering us along the way. Our experience has resulted in a big and healthy baby boy. We are thankful for the opportunity to have worked with everyone at Fora and would recommend them without reservation.
I did two rounds of egg freezing with Fora Fertility. Dr. Skillern and Dr. Crawford and all of the staff made the process so much easier and less scary than it otherwise could have been. The scheduling and regular monitoring appointments were quick and efficient, the responsiveness and availability of staff was amazing (I had lots of questions the first time!), and generally everyone at the clinic seemed to genuinely love what they do, had been doing it for a very long time, and were experts.I could sense from the very beginning that I was in very good hands, and that gave me so much peace of mind.
I recently completed an egg freezing cycle with Fora Fertility and could not have been more impressed and grateful for my experience. I was anxious about the process, but as soon as I had my initial consultation I knew I was in good hands with Fora. The Doctors were transparent, honest, and explained everything thoroughly at my appointments; I left feeling informed and educated. The clinical team is also so fun and cheerful, and runs the clinic like a well-oiled machine. The experience felt modern and personalized -- they would change my protocol mid-cycle and let me know promptly and even made sure to get me on the phone to make sure I was informed on exactly what to do. I even ended up getting almost 50% higher number of eggs frozen in my cycle than my expected best case.I am so thankful to have found Dr. Skillern & Dr. Crawford, and to have had the pleasure of working with their exceptional team. I cant recommend this place enough!
Dr. Skillern truly got the job done for us! With her expert guidance and care, we were able to achieve successful pregnancies both in 2020 with our son and again in 2024 with our daughter. Her knowledge, assertiveness, and direct approach were incredibly reassuring throughout our journey. The support we received from Dr. Skillern and her staff at Fora was exceptional. We are deeply appreciative of her dedication and expertise. Thank you so much!
I am extremely grateful to the physicians and staff at Fora. We had a lengthy sit down with Dr. Skillern who helped us understand the journey we were beginning. She showed compassion for our situation but made it clear that despite everything they can do it does not guarantee success. We dove into the process and had no issues communicating with the team through their portal.I have graduated from Fora and am now cautiously enjoying small milestones. I look forward to one day sharing newborn photos with the clinic.
I could not be happier with my experience with the entire Fora team. I was heartbroken and absolutely terrified to continue my fertility journey with the IVF process, but the remarkable women at Fora put me at ease and made it…fun? (as fun as possible!) The office staff is friendly, supportive, and so joyful I almost wanted to ask if they were hiring. I was assigned to Dr. Skillern but saw Dr. Crawford for some appointments as well. They both provide exceptional, personalized care and really, really know their stuff. Both doctors are very honest and no-nonsense, not going to sugarcoat anything, which I really appreciated. Dr. Skillern is energetic and quite funny; Bonus points to her for making me laugh during fertility appointments. Rikki was my cycle coordinator, and I am beyond grateful to her for walking me through the medications, quickly responding to portal messages, and for just being her amazing, genuine self. The medications can be daunting, but they provide very thorough and clear calendars, so I never had any issues keeping track of everything. Fora is truly something special and I can’t recommend them enough!
Clinic is very caring, professional and they explain every step of what will be expected once someone starts IVF from the beginning. I appreciate that. Her nurse is also very nice and open to answering our questions and concerns. Thank Dr. Crawford and staff for seeing me.
I am shocked to read so many negative reviews. My husband and I had a wonderful experience with Fora.Dr. Crawford was our primary doctor, but I also saw Dr. Skillern on a couple of occasions. Both of them have great bedside manner and we never left an appointment feeling confused or uninformed. Their staff has always been friendly and personable, so it’s also shocking to read some of the negative comments regarding the office staff. We had a successful first transfer and have a beautiful, healthy 15 month old son thanks to Dr. Crawford and her team. We are gearing up for our second transfer and I have full trust in Dr. Crawford and her knowledge. We are forever thankful for Fora!
Being part of the Fora family has been such a blessing! The entire team was always there to support us, through good times and bad. They helped make our fertility journey possible. I truly believe you need a village on this journey, and they were our village! Highly recommend Dr. Skillern and her team! We love them all so much, and are so grateful to be part of their world!
I have been a patient of Dr. Skillern for over 6 years. I can not say enough good things about my experience. Both Dr. Skillern and Dr. Crawford along with their AMAZING team, have provided exceptional knowledge, expertise and unwavering support throughout our IVF journey. From the initial consultations up to this point, your professionalism and care have been evident in every step. We appreciate the time and effort you have invested in science in order to help so many families achieve their goals.IVF is a hard and difficult road, Fora stands by you for the entire ride. I could not be more thankful for your dedication and compassion to helping us realize our dream of growing our family. Forever grateful for the positive outcome we have had so far.
Friendly, quality service! Pregnancy journeys can be hard, Fora Fertility and team make the process less scary. They educate you along the way, have open, realistic conversations about your journey, and are your biggest cheerleaders through the wins and losses. A smart set of talented women all working toward your success.
The way they do their billing here produces an itemized receipt which our insurance (BCBS) would not accept, and therefore, no cost was reimbursed. Everything was out of pocket. Fora refused to try to create an itemized statement based on the needs of my insurance, saying that’s just how they do it. The aftercare they provided after a failed embryo transfer was non-existent. Would I be writing this review if it had been successful? Maybe not. Regardless, folks need to know they will likely not be reimbursed by their insurance if they try to submit a claim for out of network service. It’s been about 18 months since all of this transpired, so, my head and heart are clear on writing this.
I referred a friend who had previously experienced 3 failed IUIs and 8 failed rounds of IVF with another REI clinic to Dr. Skillern, who hands down is the best AMA (advanced material age) REI you will EVER find. After several more rounds of IVF that unfortunately produced aneuploid blastocyst, my friend finally got ONE. Dr. Skillern will be the first to tell you, it only takes one. Thank goodness the embryo took at the first attempted embryo transfer. My friend now has a beautiful, healthy, happy 9 month old.No one should deal with infertility. But if you have to, and youre understanding that this is a process, if your not worried about handholding, want to have realistic discussions and want RESULTS, especially if your AMA, you wont regret choosing FORA. Its part science, part magic and part having a bad@$$ REI (and care team) that wont give up and makes sure to find the perfect protocol to help you achieve your goals in this journey. Dr. Skillern & Dr. Crawford have knocked up quite a few of my friends, who are now on baby #2.
It’s so sad to see all of these negative reviews here! I had nothing but a positive experience. All appointments were promptly on time and messages through the portal were quick and received when they told me I could expect them. I did 3 rounds of egg freezing here and everyone working here was so kind! Dr. Crawford spent extra time talking with me about my options for familyPlanning before we started the egg retrieval sessions as well as follow ups when I had questions in between.
We were so happy we chose Dr. Crawford and Fora Fertility for this journey. They truly are a boutique practice where you can receive personalized care (in contrast to so many of the large fertility clinics in Austin which seem so impersonal). We loved our visits with Dr. Crawford- she is compassionate and thorough and always explained things in a way that made it easy to understand. Her team is phenomenal as well. Any question or issue I had was addressed the same day in their patient portal. The office staff was always friendly when we walked in for appointments. They also made the process easy while working full time. They were able to schedule all of my appointments around 7:15 AM so that I could see them without interrupting the work day. In addition, they were always on time which is a remarkable thing in healthcare. The longest I ever waited to see Dr. Crawford was 10 minutes. They are expanding their practice and now have their own embryology lab which will make any future retrievals or transfers even more seamless.
I wouldnt be pregnant without the care of Fora Fertility! From diagnosis to testing and treatment, I have felt incredibly supported by this pro-woman group of medical professionals who make a difficult journey a lot easier by being completely transparent, responsive, and trustworthy.
There are few people that care more than these people. When I enter this clinic I feel so supported, noticed and their organization and management is better than any other medical care I have recieved. You are never just a number or a patient.
Wow, just quality service. My partner and I started IVF in 2023 and the result right now is that we have healthy embryos that may be ready for implantation soon, after some more tests to ensure my body is in good shape to receive them. Please keep in mind I am a 36 year old woman and I have been trying without success to become pregnant naturally for about 2.5 years now without luck. The only reason I have not continued forward with them is because we moved states for personal reasons. But our embryos are there for us in the (hopefully very short term) future.Ivf can be really complicated and the team at Fora made us both feel SO comfortable throughout the process. I love this team! And they care! You can feel the care too, so its very nice. They took the time to explain and simplify the process for my family as much as possible. Absolutely quality doctors, nurses, and entire team.EDIT - After reading some other reviews Im a bit surprised but not shocked as IVF is an intensely emotional process. Im not going to say it was easy, some parts physically hurt (so many shots! Usually one part of the body that you can choose where the shot goes, so you get some slack there but it does start to hurt after a while, at least for me). Im just going to say that I COMPLETELY agree with this part of a different review below. I did go through 2 rounds to have even more chances at embryos though. Im happy to say we have about 7 great looking embryos at the moment. Please know this can depend on your personal body and luck. But also know that the science behind the work is trying to give you the absolutely best odds possible.I never had to wait in the lobby because they keep their appointments running on time. The staff was always available on nights and weekends if I had issues or symptoms that needed addressing. And I could tell that the procedures, medications, and processes they used for the IVF lifecycle is the most advanced available. They dont make you do the same thing over and over and they perform blood work often to quickly realize if changes to medication are warranted so that you dont waste any time. I completed one round of egg retrieval (that was very successful!) and then became pregnant after my first embryo transfer! Nothing is a sure thing but Dr. Skillern and Dr. Crawford make it a point to stay at the forefront of medicine and I truly believe it pays off for their patients.
The process of infertility looks different for everyone and I’m so thankful that I had the fora team on my side to navigate every step. We are so lucky to have been treated at the best fertility clinic in Austin!Fora is an efficient fertility clinic that focuses most on results. They care in a way that your goals being achieved are of the highest priority. Dr. Crawford gives you the honest truth directly with the goal to achieve your dream family if possible. We were previously seeing a different clinic and my husband left totally confused to the extent we held off on treatment for 6 more months. When we transitioned to Dr. C, she found a way to educate my husband in a way that he saw the need for IVF. We both appreciated her approach and are forever grateful that we now have a daughter by our single viable embryo. Mel was always pleasant and so helpful with answering questions via the portal in a very timely manner!Just wanted to add that Dr. C will not proceed with transfer until she knows all factors are as ideal as possible. We ran into an increased thyroid and it delayed us by two months. That’s okay because we know it was to improve our odds of success.Be patient with their office staff. Patients are all on a schedule and you go into the clinic OFTEN. Fora does a great job of making things right and doing their best to communicate appropriately. The entire fora team is amazing! We are proud to be a a fora family.
I went with Fora, and I am now a happy mom!My fertility journey started in 2020, unexplained with a minor male factor. I went through 3 rounds of IUIs at Aspire with no success.Shortly we learned IVF is our next step. We had no insurance coverage for fertility and were fully self-paid.I interviewed every single clinic in town to pick my provider. My top priority was getting the result (pregnancy and healthy birth). The price mattered but was not our number one factor in this decision. So, simply put, I needed a team who could get this job done.Dr. Crawford seemed knowledgeable, data-driven, and had decent success rates for people in our age group/situation.We picked Fora, and it was the best decision ever made. The journey was not smooth sailing. First, we had to cancel one cycle because we didnt get enough eggs to mature and had to double down on meds. The second medication cycle got us to retrieval, but way fewer blasts than we were hoping for. However, finally, we got the embryo we needed. The first transfer was successful, and nine months later, I had my baby boy, cute, happy and healthy.I am eternally grateful to the Fora team for- Being highly organized. This includes appointments, patients portal, communication, and clarity on pricing.- Focusing on getting the job done. Each bump on the road was tackled as best as possible. And there will be bumps on this road.- Providing context and options for each decision we were making.I felt informed and in the loop at all times. If you are like me, data-driven, result-oriented, and committed to getting pregnant, this is the best team in town. I hope you look no further, and good luck on your journey. Speaking from the other side, it was all worth it! ❤️
I couldnt have asked for a better group of women to take care of my husband and I throughout this process. I came to Fora after 2 years of trying for a baby with no success, and this was really our last shot at making this dream come true. I had no idea what to expect, I was afraid to get my hopes up, and I was jaded by less than stellar doctors at times. However I quickly realized that the Fora staff is unlike any other medical office that Ive encountered. Ive been blown away by the compassion and genuine care that every single one of them has shown me throughout this process.Having completed fertility treatments at other offices previously, like Texas Fertility, I can say that the Fora Fertility office is a very well oiled machine and their science is much more advanced. I never had to wait in the lobby because they keep their appointments running on time. Crawford make it a point to stay at the forefront of medicine and I truly believe it pays off for their patients.I cant thank their team enough for helping my husband and I get pregnant after such a tough fertility journey. I will absolutely be back in the future as we continue to expand our family!
I’ve waited some time to rate this clinic to ensure I was speaking my truth with clarity. Fora was the first clinic I communicated with and it seemed black and white, simple. Dr. Crawford seemed knowledgeable (she’s all over social media with information which is great) and I didn’t think too far into it. I went through testing, egg retrieval, hysteroscopy and embryo transfer with Fora. The transfer resulted in a loss right before the second trimester. Looking back at my full experience (and especially after having some experience with a different clinic now), I’m appalled at their lack of service within the staff (you walk into the clinic and everyone is just chatting amongst themselves and when you’re seen, staff is cold and sterile). When you ask the dr questions, you’re met with very generic responses, and not a lot of transparency. After my loss, all I got was a message saying sorry and when asked if I could talk to my dr since I was shocked, I was told I had to basically pay to communicate further with her. I was appalled. After such a loss, you’d think your dr would show some compassion but it was very apparent that it was all about money. They do not see their patients as people, more so as dollar signs. It’s been a year now and I just received an email from the clinic asking me about my delivery and birth details from the transfer that I had through them. Again, completely shocked to see something like that show up in my email considering having a pregnancy loss is a highly sensitive topic, you would think they would be more careful and update their charts. Disappointed but not surprised considering my experience with them.
Thanks to Fora we have a handsome healthy boy, we had the best experience 🙌. After 2 years we decide to go through Fora again, and now we are expecting our Second child. Doctor Amanda and Natalie there are the best fertility doctors in Austin. The staff is really nice and they are always professional . The IVF journey is a never raking and difficult, but Fora is been there with us all the time always answer to our questions and concerns. Our experience has been wonderful, and they made our dream come true. I would highly recommend this facility
Only took about 2 visits and a few phone calls to figure out that this was NOT the place for us. The office manager was completely rude to me and my husband on separate occasions: she told me how she got very little sleep the night before and she was not going to be able to help me. She even wrote me a 2 paragraph email explaining how my husband didnt follow office protocol on wearing a mask at his appointment.Another situation was that 1 person was out of the office - (the office staff is very limited) so nobody was going to be able to assist until the following week. Dr Crawford seemed great but her staff is literally the only reason we left. We are at Texas Fertility Center off Mopac and so GLAD we made the switch. They are very professional and an IVF institution for a few decades here in Austin. None of the issues I had at Fora.Good luck if you stay at Fora- Hope nobody decides to take a day off, loose sleep, or your husband doesnt read all the office rules or else you might not get the attention you need or someone might write you a stern email chastising you.
Loved my experience so much at Fora I didnt want to graduate and return to my OB! Both Dr. Skillern and Dr. Crawford are equal parts direct and compassionate...and bring a healthy sense of humor to the experience, making it easy to talk about hard stuff, ask silly questions, and even relax a little during an otherwise very stressful, mentally taxing process. Loved the nursing staff as well – quick communication and easy to get in touch with. I never wondered what was happening next. Highly recommend!!
I am beyond grateful to the Fora team for helping us grow our family. My husband and I conceived our almost 4-year-old son without issue and were then blindsided by secondary infertility. After undergoing testing with my normal OBGYN, we moved onto working with Dr. Crawford at Fora. While we met with three different clinics, we ultimately chose Fora because of their patient-centered approach. I love that the doctors are also the owners instead of answering to businesspeople at the top. I also found the doctors to be extremely smart and up-to-date on the latest research. I never felt that Dr. Crawford was pushing me into treatment that I didn’t need. I felt that she listened carefully to my unique circumstances to develop the best possible strategies. In addition to my medical information, she also listened to me as a person and took that into consideration when making recommendations. Not only was Dr. Crawford such a bright light for us on this very dark journey, but so was the entire team, from the admin to the nurses. They’re busy, yes, but they always respond quickly and know what they’re talking about. I felt like everyone cared and genuinely rooted for our success. We also had the opportunity to work some with Dr. Skillern – in fact she performed our successful embryo transfer – and we loved her, too. Her humor, directness, and intelligence helped us through a rocky process. I’ll be honest. I was very nervous to pursue IVF during the attack on reproductive rights, and I’m still scared to be pregnant in this environment. However, having such a smart, female-driven, and compassionate care team helped put me at ease. I knew they’d fight for my safety and my family. It’s bittersweet to “graduate” from their care onto my OBGYN team, but I will always be so grateful to Fora for not only helping me finally become pregnant, but also for showing me what quality medical care can look like. Thank you to everyone at Fora!
IVF is a new and confusing process but was made better by the quick portal responses from the nursing staff. It was also nice to have the ultrasounds and monitoring appointments performed by the doctor!
Fora Fertility was an awful experience - the staff is very rude and not helpful at all. I actually liked the doctor I chose within Fora, but it wasnt enough for me to endure the staff throughout an already very touchy and expensive journey. I moved onto a different fertility office, which requested my testing/results from Fora, only for me to learn my husband and I both are missing NEEDED tests/results we paid for through Fora. My new doctor doesnt even have my husbands BLOOD TYPE from the Fora testing panels, amongst other missing tests and results. That tells me that either they werent thorough, or the testing within their office is inadequate. Im sure others have had different experience, but this office was not for my husband and I then and now. I held off leaving a review for one full year, but now, knowing not all of the tests were conducted then, is beyond frustrating. I do not want to discourage anyone from using Fora, but thought it would be helpful to share my experience with others when finding the right fit for expanding their family.
I could not be more grateful for my team at Fora. They gave us our perfect baby boy and helped us through the entire fertility process with the utmost love, care and respect. I feel like I know Dr. Skillern and her nurses personally and they treat me like they feel the same. We are forever connected to them and thank you isnt enough for all theyve given us.As a 38-year-old second-round IVF cycle candidate who left a big-name clinic in Houston for a more personal, needs-focused experience, initially I wasnt totally comfortable with the process and trusting that my doctor and team knew what I needed. While I was going through egg retrieval and embryo banking, Dr. Skillern repeatedly showed me how much she cared and how much she had personally invested in my success, or at least more information with which to make better decisions. This is only one example of the many times Skillern had my back through the most difficult of times, but on New Years Eve when I was crying over not understanding why the shot I needed didnt make sense as I was trying to administer it, she called me back personally. We talked for an hour that night. When we got off the phone, my husband rolled over in bed and said, we picked the right doctor. I had known that for a while but was glad to know he felt assured in the same. Were now going through our third implant (the first one worked, the second did not), but I feel assured that if success is possible again, Skillern will deliver it. If not, the beauty of Skillern is that she is brutally honest and so smart that I know shell exhaust every possibility and leave no stone unturned in the process.I have sent numerous friends to Fora that have also had success and I will continue to send those I love who are struggling with fertility to Fora. Call them today. Dont think twice about it.Love all you Fora ladies!
I am writing this review on Mother’s Day with a profound sense of gratitude for this team that helped me become a mother. Dr. Skillern and Dr. Crawford are incredible - a mix of smart, kind, determined, funny and HUMAN. They keep it real. And then, there’s the supporting team of Rikki, Mel and so many others, who I hope will be friends for life. I cannot recommend this team enough for one of the most important life decisions you’ll make.
This is my first review ever but I am so upset right now I had to. This clinic fails to give clear instructions. Why do you get somebody’s hopes up for nothing. Today I went in so they could tell me how many mature follicles I had so me and my husband can finally start trying. I text my husband all happy with the good news and when I ask them when I should stop taking birth control they tell me I should have stopped already when I had clearly asked them a week ago. Nobody would have ever told me to stop taking it!!! To think that I would have been pregnant this month and then to start all over again and pay again for my medications, like really? The Dr.‘s here are just okay. The very first time I stepped into this clinic I didn’t feel welcomed by the staff. My more recent visits have been a little better but I’m wondering if they’re doing that because they realize how many bad reviews they have. I am already well into the treatments to just switch to a different doctor or else I would.8/11/23 Update: Today I got a call from a Jessica. They have fired me as a patient because of my review. They said there’s no patient/Dr. trust. Now this is my fault apparently. Please avoid this clinic.
I dont known what else to say about Dr. Skillern and her staff over at Fora, other than that they are an amazing group of caring individuals. We actually began working with Dr. Skillern in 2018; with her guidance, care, and medical help, we were able to expand our family. When the time came for us to expand further, there was no question in our minds that we would continue to work with Dr. Skillern at Fora Fertility. The level of personal attention, and a feeling of being held by someone who genuinely cares, was so important to us. It allowed us to feel seen, heard, and respected through every step of the process. Communication was always expedited and I never felt like I had to wait long or stress out about results or questions.Though we are now done expanding our family, Dr. Skillern and staff continue to show interest in us, our family, and how we are doing. I would recommend (and have recommended) choosing Fora Fertility to anyone who is struggling with fertility issues and wants to be seen and heard; not just another patient being used to bring in money.Thank you, Fora, and Dr. Skillern for helping our dream become our reality.
After meeting with a few IVF clinics, my husband and I made the choice to go with Fora Fertility. Dr. Crawford is my doctor, however I’ve also seen Dr. Skillern, and both are knowledgeable, compassionate, and treat me like I’m more than just a number. That’s ultimately why we chose this clinic. I feel like they care and see the human behind the patient. Further, I’ve been continuously wowed by how up-to-date Dr. Crawford stays on the latest research and best practices. Another plus is the stellar communication, timeliness, and organization of the entire staff. It’s so refreshing!!!Infertility is such a personal and painful experience, however a supportive team really does make me feel less alone. I’m grateful that this woman-owned clinic exists in Austin, and I highly recommend consulting with them if you’re in need of reproductive assistance.
Dr. Crawford is great and a true professional. She was thorough and informative throughout the entire process. The whole Fora team is so wonderful. Sarah in billing was SOOOOO HELPFUL! Infertility is hard enough, so having someone dedicated to working with our insurance company was so refreshing. The nurses are wonderful. EVERY question that we had was addressed during our treatment process. My husband and I went through a successful IVF and Transfer cycle with Fora Fertility and we are happily awaiting the birth of our baby girl. Thanks Fora!
This is a horrible place. No I’m not a patient and thank God for that but I have a close friend who came to this place and trusted that she will be able to start a family based off of what this facility had told her can you imagine being told that there is a chance and you put in half your savings you tell your husband the great news before you even get into the car you’re screaming of excitement you order the medication they tell you that’s needed in the day it’s been shipped to your house. You speak to a different nurse about other things and you asked for the second time. When are you to stop taking the birth control and this nurse tells you well basically you have a ruined your chance because you was uneducated and should have been stop taking the birth control your crying you can’t believe what you’re hearing and you’re explaining to the lady very calmly that you were told by staff member the day, of your visit that you were to keep taking the birth control, you don’t get a phone call from the doctor apologizing for their error or from the staff members for their error, or asking what they can do to fix their mistake no you get a email and a text saying they will no longer help you because you gave a negative review about your experience now imagine the look in the pain from this woman to here she calls her husband and no one from the office will respectfully answer the calls from them, now you tell me who was right now who was wrong I wouldn’t recommend this place on having a family knowing that you’re not educated in this area but you put your trust in them who should be qualified to help you with the greatest gift of all. This is Injustice so before you guys come on here to comment from this facility be ready because I’m OK with going back-and-forth.
I had a wonderful experience with Fora! Dr. Skillern, Dr. Crawford, Rikki and the rest of the office staff were nothing but lovely and supportive to me and my husband. They truly changed our lives and we will always be grateful!
Fora Fertility was beyond amazing. The team and the doctors are incredible. They listen to you and take care of you. Infertility is so hard and the Team at Fora Fertility understands that. They will be there for you every step of the way. They are your cheer leaders and your comfort when things do not go as plan. The doctors are so smart and know how to treat patients. I love this place and cannot recommend it enough. They are your team and will help you every step of the way.
I saw Dr. Crawford at Fora Fertility this week and I was extremely impressed. She is very compassionate and relatable. She took the time to listen and explained things very clearly. I am a doctor myself and I am very picky about who I see as my physician. Dr. Crawford has national name recognition-- one of my close friends who is a fertility doc in DC suggested I see her. The staff were very caring and made me feel at ease during the visit. This is a physician owned practice and it shows in the high level of care and focus on the patient experience. We are very lucky to have Fora fertility in Austin!
Currently in my 3rd trimester with a Fora baby! Dr Crawford was my main dr but had appts and egg retrieval with Dr Skillern who was great too. Their knowledge and passion are amazing. I love my nurse coordinator and everyone in the office made everything easy and comfortable. This is the perfect place if you want personalized care and don’t want to feel like a number. I was so sad when I “graduated” I didn’t want to leave!
Cancelled my appt after jumping through hoops to obtain referral. I’ve been to several clinics and never had this happen. I’ll take my tens of thousands elsewhere.
After a heartbreaking entry into the world of infertility, we left another clinic we didn’t feel was the right fit for us. We found Fora. We instantly felt something different at Fora. Every interaction, every phone call, every appointment we felt cared for and important. During a time in life when infertility can feel so isolating, all the women at Fora went above and beyond to make us feel valued as patients, and as a couple trying to build their family. We can’t thank the women of Fora enough for everything they did to make our dreams of having a family a reality.
My experience with Fora was unexpected, so I felt inclined to recount it here for those researching this facility. For context: I’m 30 years old with low AMH levels, so I wanted to see a fertility specialist to gather information. The initial virtual consult was informative. On the call, IVF was Dr. Skillern’s recommendation, if my husband and I wanted to have multiple children. It was not easy news to stomach, but we were looking forward to seeing Dr. Skillern in person to learn more.At the in-person appointment, my husband and I unfortunately did not feel cared for by the staff — from the moment we walked in to the moment we walked out.Dr. Skillern had the worst bedside manner I’ve experienced. She quickly performed the ultrasound and shared the results nonchalantly. She immediately reiterated that her recommendation is the same from our initial virtual consult, to move forward with IVF. No time as taken to get to know us or go over any details provided to expand upon her recommendation.I asked if she could walk us through the bloodwork she was recommending, and she responded with “that information is already in the portal on a sheet” with no further explanation. It made me nervous to ask another question. I shared I had written some other questions down and inquired if she had time. Dr. Skillern seemed perturbed and said today’s consult is only for the ultrasound, and that I should put my questions in the portal for her to answer there. She proceeded to leave the room. I was in disbelief.Since we decided to forgo running bloodwork that day, we then met with a nurse who walked us through the bloodwork and next steps to begin the IVF process. We shared we’re hoping to gather information about the process and risks before making the decision to proceed with IVF. We were told you have to be “financially secured for IVF” to access that information. I expressed we’d be willing to pay for the courses separately, but that was not an option. So we asked if there were any free resources they recommend or could provide that would help us make an informed decision, and the nurse’s response was that she didn’t know of any, but would follow up with information in the portal. From the start, the staff assumed we wanted to move forward with the process. My husband and I felt like cattle. No one stopped to check in and ask what we wanted to move forward with. Which had a way of making you feel pressured into moving forward with the doctor’s recommendation. We felt wrong for wanting to take time to move slowly, think critically, ask questions, and discuss options.Overall, there were too many red flags for us to chalk this up to a bad day or bad interaction. However, this was our experience. Others may have amazing experiences. Regardless, I encourage everyone to not be afraid to ask questions and get multiple opinions to determine the best fit for you. We got a second opinion and the experience was a night-and-day difference, and, to our relief, IVF was not the immediate recommendation to have multiple children. Wishing you all the best on your fertility journey. There’s hope!
Though I have a lot of respect for Dr. Crawford I do not recommend Fora Fertility. It was pitched to us as a boutique firm that would give specialized service. Instead every visit I felt was being rushed through and if I asked questions it felt like I was being a nuisance. I had clearly never been pregnant before and yet terms were constantly being used or details blitzed through with no explanation. I ended up getting pregnant on my own but for two months Fora treated me like there was something wrong with me. I had multiple scans and gut wrenching phone calls convinced that my body was broken. It wasnt until I took a home pregnancy test (on my own initiative) that Fora even considered that the reason I suddenly wasnt ovulating was because of a successful pregnancy.I was a patient at Fora for about 6 months and found the whole experience to be extremely stressful. The only time that I felt like I was in capable hands was the first consultation with Dr. Crawford, but once her staff got involved the experience quickly went south. I would recommend a more established firm over Fora.
Dr. Skillern is an amazing doctor. Kind, educated me, and efficient. Thank you so much!
Kimberly Brown and the entire “customer service/nursing” staff are a waste of valuable time and you will be treated with hostility when you seek help with navigating patient portal. This is the most unprofessional “nurse/customer service staff” I’ve ever encountered. A “nurse” who looses her temper extremely quickly when a patient needs assistance navigating fora fertility’s company system. Your broken patient portal system is not my fault or a reason to so quickly fly off the handle.
I cannot begin to express how much I love Dr. Skillern at Fora Fertility, but Ill go ahead and try! I have PCOS and had been trying to coneive naturally with my husband for 3 years. To no avail, we had zero luck. It was a long journey with numerous OBGYNs, as well as with another local reproductive endocrinologist, to just receive the care that I deserved. As stated, I was with another RE and was given the run around IVF and the entire process. I went ahead and decided to switch to Fora Fertility having heard great things about Dr. Skillern as well as Dr. Crawford. Im so glad that I made the switch! The care that I had received before, during, and after my embryo transfer was amazing. I was actually treated like a normal person and not criticized for other health issues. Dr. Skillern was always down to earth and never once made me feel unworthy of pregnancy. Please, if you are hesitant use my advice as a way to ensure that you will be in the best care with Dr. Skillern. She is more than amazing and caring. I also want to mention nurse Rikki! I really emailed her way too many times during my time with Fora, and she was always so kind, encouraging, and helpful. Rikki really is an angel. Fora Fertility is the best, hands down. I will never be able to express my gratitude.
We had one virtual meeting with Dr. Crawford who jumped to several pretty serious conclusions and then told us our only option was IVF. We were shocked, so we ended up getting a second opinion from a different Dr. who had a very different opinion. A month later we got pregnant naturally. I don’t like leaving negative reviews but I would hate for someone to jump into IVF or an extreme option if they don’t have to!
I highly recommend Dr. Crawford and the entire Fora team. We came to Fora after needing a change from a prior specialist. The folks at Fora made the transfer cycle so incredibly stress free, which is exactly what we needed in order to achieve successful results. We were never worried about the cycle being canceled if everything wasnt 100% perfect. They do a great job of being flexible and open to changing the protocol to work with how your body responds. We chose to do an ERA cycle (two failed FETs with prior specialist) and then we did one FET cycle with Dr. Crawford and graduated from her care at around 10 weeks. Everything at Fora is designed to make treatment cycles and procedures as peaceful and worry-free as possible. Both Dr. Crawford and Dr. Skillern were wonderful to work with--smart, very skilled in their field, thorough, genuinely empathetic, relatable, non-judgmental, and always easy to talk to. The nurses/cycle managers are both wonderful and help keep things moving along and the lines of communication open. I highly recommend the entire team at Fora Fertility.
Dr Skillern and her entire team were absolutely amazing during my experience. I never felt rushed thru my appointments and all of my questions were always answered. Open communication thru the portal was great with my cycle coordinator and nurses. We are so blessed to be expecting our 1st baby boy and it is all thanks to Dr Skillern and her amazing team. We can not thank yall enough and look forward to seeing yall again for our next baby.
Dr.Crawford is great but the staff when she is not there are very care free and rude. Avoid this office waste of time and money. Also they think there superior then you and make you feel like your nothing even tho there making money of you. GO TO ANOTHER OFFICE DON’T WASTE YOUR TIMELATINA WOMEN STAY AWAY FROM THIS OFFICE
I could not recommend Fora Fertility more. Dr. Skillern and Rikki Richardson were a team made for us; they were consistently honest, careful, thorough, and patient-centered throughout our entire process. My wife and I met Dr. Skillern April of 2020. She did thorough testing and guided us through the options for us, laying out statistical likelihoods of each path and leaving the decision up to us. We chose to do reciprocal IVF and began the first cycle in the summer. Dr. Skillern proscribed our meds and monitored everything to make sure all was aligned for the retrievals and transfers. Everyday for months, we came in for Rikkis injection clinic, building not only confidence in our path but a beautiful friendship along the way. Our first retrieval resulted in one embryo and our second resulted in three because Dr. Skillern and Rikki assessed and adjusted based on the results from the first retrieval, always working as hard as possible for the best outcome for each patient. Our first transfer from our first retrieval resulted in our perfect daughter, born in summer 2021. Every day with her is a gift and we will forever be grateful to Fora Fertility and our dream team Dr. Skillern and Rikki for making our most beautiful dreams materialize. We are moving back to California next month, but will be back in Austin without question for Baby #2. We couldnt imagine trusting our future with anyone else
Successful IVF on first embryo transfer. Pregnancy was the objective, and therefore, I give Fora 5 stars for being able to deliver on the first try. Dr. Crawford is very direct, and no-nonsense - she provides vital medical expertise and doesnt have to be anyones best friend in the process. I would caution anyone about to undergo infertility treatment to expect a deep degree of emotional support from your infertility practitioners, and also, remind women not to have a double standard when dealing with female physicians vs. male physicians. Crawford and Skillern are highly respected doctors, who specialize in infertility, not psychotherapy. If you suspect youll need a high degree of emotional support, I would recommend seeing a counselor at the same time you are undergoing treatment, so both your medical and emotional needs are being met at the same time. I would also like to point out that Fora opened in the height of the Covid-19 pandemic and lockdown, and while the office visits were generally short, I can only imagine this is the exact same protocol other medical practices have implemented at the recommendation of the Centers for Disease Control. At the end of the day, if I end up with exactly what I wanted and paid for with perfect execution on the first attempt, I dont care much about the rest.
They took an already nerve-racking and sensitive experience and made it worse. I had signed up for an apt and had gotten an email saying it was virtual - but then a reminder with the office address/location. It was my mistake going to the office, but the lack of empathy and customer service was astonishing. Not to mention the confusing email to remind you of your appointment that gives an address location with instructions to bring XYZ to the apt. Then I was offered to rush home within 15 minutes to try and make the apt. Understandably, I did not make it home in time. When I called back to reschedule they notified me that it would be a larger charge to reschedule of $180. I had my computer and offered to take my call virtually from my car. You can only be in a home with good Wi-Fi to connect with the doctor. They reiterated that it is office policy to charge a fee to cancel the day of, but I was not trying to cancel( actually trying to jump through hoops to make it)and they would not budge. This was a terrible experience and I think they need to rethink how they treat/present their customer service.
My wife and I have done 4 rounds of IVF and one (successful) frozen embryo transfer with Dr. Skillern and her team, and we couldn’t be happier with the level of care we’ve received. Dr. Skillern is smart, skilled, and—maybe most importantly—relatable. She doesn’t hesitate to give genuine advice or share her own personal experiences/choices, which I found invaluable during such an inherently stressful and foreign process. We also can’t speak highly enough of Dr. Skillern’s right-hand, Rikki. Rikki is so organized, responsive, knowledgeable, and sweet, and she made arguably the most onerous part of the process—scheduling and meds—as easy as it could have been. Love and highly recommend these ladies!
To me, Fora is more than a clinic, it is a movement. It is run by women who really know their craft. These women took risks to create this clinic. They went out on a limb to follow their own principles and realize their own dreams. These women are doing what they believe in every day. They do it for themselves and they do it for their patients. They are models for young girls everywhere who want to be medical professionals. They are a godsend for women like me who want to be mothers but could not follow the easiest path to get there. I am lucky to be a patient at this place, and whats more, I feel like more than a patient. I feel like a member of this movement and I am proud of it.
AVOID DR. SKILLERN LIKE YOUR LIFE DEPENDS ON IT!!!!!!Despite known issues that are an explained reason for infertility, I was told by her that IUI or IVF were really my only options. I left the consultation with her devastated, emotional and completely hopeless! Having either of those procedures with my condition and having them work would have been like striking a match and setting fire to thousands and thousands of dollars during a severe drought, and thinking that rain would actually come and save it from burning. So thankful I sought a second opinion with a specialist that knew what they were doing and resolved my issues without IUI or IVF!! I should have done more research on her before my initial visit -- shame on me!You are MUCH better off going elsewhere. Dont waste your time with a second rate doctor that should find another profession! Dr. Skillern only takes on simple cases to keep her success stats high. I felt taken advantage of by her in the fact that all she wanted was our money, and she didnt really care whether or not either of the options provided would be successful. Very disappointing!I highly encourage anyone thinking about going to her to do your homework and read other reviews about her -- most are rather low. There are much more qualified professionals in town that truly care, treat you with dignity and do not try to take advantage of you financially. Dont make the same mistake I initially did!
I really wanted to like Fora but I couldn’t even get in to see a doctor, and already need to walk away. After about a month of gathering paper work for them and jumping through hoops, I realize why they already have the bad reviews they do and am actually hesitant to keep moving forward to try to get in anymore and I would suggest others be cautious. I have seen a couple other fertility clinics in my past and so far Fora has been the most complex and difficult experience yet and I never even got in to see the doctor, nor do I think I ever will get in. I worked very hard to assist them in gathering all the requested information and approvals to get an appointment for a simple consultation, I tried my best to make the process fast and easy by doing as much legwork as possible for them. My insurance approved the consult, but Fora insisted they had not. I spoke to insurance and they showed me a consultation was approved. I sent this confirmation to Fora, I was informed it wasn’t enough. They told me that even though the consultation was approved, they needed approvals to charge for full lab testing as well. I explained I just wanted to get a consulatation at this time and they asured me the first visit was virtual and no testing would be done, however they require full approval to charge for consult and full testing anyway, regardless of the fact that no testing is to be done at the first visit. WHAT?!?!? This was what the “supervisor relayed to the front desk staff” I find that very concerning that they would even be allowed to charge insurance for something they do not have plans to actually do, nor would be possible in a virtual consultation. They assured me that yes they need the approval code to charge for consult and full testing at my first visit but that if I want them to they “CAN go back and reduce the code to just a consultation AFTER my visit”; but why would they ever need to charge for full labs if the only plan is for a consultation? I am honestly not even sure how that is legal, so after a month of back and forth it just seems they may be dancing fine lines of ethical business practices. I would say to check your charges bc this just seems like a huge Red flag to me. My obgyn referred them and I really wanted to meet the doctors but the requirement to approve charging for items not actually being done is too concerning and so I have decided it wouldn’t be wise to move forward. This process is already so stressful and the last thing I want is to have to wonder if I am being taken advantage of financially before I am even seen.Edited to add: I have not been to another clinic yet. I was not offered to wait 30days. AND I have the approval for consultation. I also confirmed with insurance that I could consult with 2 clinics and was assured that would not be an issue. Nothing you said in this response was related to me in any email nor phone call with your staff nor with my insurance carrier who sent me the proof of need approved consultation. Everything g said below is completely varied from our conversations but says a lot about this practice.
I have worked with Dr Skillern since 2016 and followed her to Fora. I ONLY recommend Fora, either Dr Skillern or Dr. Crawford, to anyone local or otherwise. The staff is exceptional, the service is unparalleled. I love being a part of the Fora family.
I love Dr. Skillern and Rikki. Skillern is very direct and always clear and honest which I really appreciate.
I could not recommend Dr. Skillern or Fora Fertility more. I have a two year old and am due in a few weeks with my second, both because of Dr. Skillern. They care about you as a person, are so kind and personable and help you every step of the way!
Yes! You can have a baby too🌈🌈🌈Im so blessed to find Dr Skilern in my life! She was the only one diagnosed what is wrong with me after 3 years trying to have kids with different doctors in deffrent states! And Now:I have one 14 months old baby boy and 7 weeks pregnant 💙💙Please just trust HER and her team at Fora!
Latina women stay away: Unprofessional and impatient staff, Dr. Skillern was condescending and compared to the Drs at Texas Fertility Center shes a total amateur.
If you are in a rush to get things done(which most women are b/c we are ticking tick toks, DONT go to this office. Their entire staff seems like theyre on a disconnect and dont communicate w/ each other. Sarah in billing is the worst. Trying to get a response from her is like pulling teeth, and shes extremely rude! If you dont have the capacity to accept new patients, then just say so! They drag you on for months and Sarah gets upset if you call and try to get an update. Every single time I have talked to her, her response is were behind were understaffed . Its obvious she hates her job and hates people. The portal says you should get a response within two business days but its more like 2 weeks.Other than that, I did have a good experience w/ the doctors, just the staff is highly disorganized.
Amanda Skillern was unprofessional and condescending towards my Latina wife and I. Terrible Dr and staff.
I can’t recommend this place enough.. Dr. Skillern and Dr. Crawford both are amazing.I would say they have the best team in the town, who always take care of their patients.
Best experience with doctors… ever
