A few months ago I started getting extreme pain in my pelvis along with vomiting, chills and sweats. This was new and very concerning. It would come on suddenly and last about 20 to 30 minutes then go away. I called the office and they sent me to get an ultrasound and scheduled me an appointment. The ultrasound showed that I had a burst 3 cm ovarian cyst. Dr. Gooch’s nurse called to tell me the results and to pressure me into allowing her to cancel my appointment because, she said, there really “was no point”. I had a lot of questions…could this cyst be the cause of my pain? Will the pain get better? Is there anything I need to avoid? What kind of cyst was it? Is it dangerous? Do I need to follow up? The nurse was unable or unwilling to answer a single question. I had never had an ovarian cyst but I do have a strong family history of uterine and breast cancer, so I was worried but I didn’t want to feel like I was putting my doctor out so I agreed to let her cancel the appointment on me. Then the pain came back and I still had no answers. So, I called to make another appointment. The day of the appointment came and I spent an hour and a half driving to it only to find out, after getting there, that they made a scheduling mistake and my appointment was cancelled. That was the last that I heard from them. No one from the office ever tried to reschedule me to address the concerns I voiced. I still had my annual scheduled for November that I have had scheduled since June, so I figured I would just wait until then and hope that the pain didn’t continue. Well, I just received a letter from their office stating “We have cancelled all future appointments for you.” That makes three appointments they’ve cancelled on me. I still have no idea what’s wrong with me or why I am having pain. And now I have no doctor. My annual is 5 months late, I still have episodes of extreme pain and they cancelled my only remaining appointment on me without any prompting from me. To top it off, this letter they sent me says “Your medical condition requires physician supervision and it is important you select another physician as soon as possible.” WHAT MEDICAL CONDITION?? No one has ever bothered to tell me what my medical condition is! I know that these places are busy and don’t actually care, but this demonstrates a level of negligence than I had not seen before. I know you have to be your own advocate when it comes to medical care in this country, but how can I be my own advocate when they keep cancelling my appointments on me?
Dr. Gooch was amazing! I was so nervous going in and she made me feel very calm and reassured. She explained everything to me very clearly without being condescending. Really friendly and open and willing to talk about anything and everything. I left feeling so so much better than going in. A really great doctor!!
An excellent Doctor, explains everything you need to know. Very transparent. I felt very comfortable and safe with her.
Shes a kind person that makes you feel comfortable. Its ab awkward visit for some women and when you have a nice caring doctor to put you at ease you feel fortunate.
