UPDATE: They are in the process of making things right. I wrote a letter to every high level person listed on their website and received a response from one and she apologized and promised to make things right, and so far she has. I have faith in them once again. If you experience anything like I did, my advice is to be persistent and dont give up.Not the same ASA as it used to be. They are more concerned about remodeling their offices than they are about patient care. They dont take responsibility for any mistakes they make or even try and help remedy them.I came to them in Nov 2017 to get help with my disability claim with social security. It is now June 2018 and they still have not helped me. My case manager quit and it took them over a month to get me a new one and thats only because I hounded them. They never once contacted me about a new case manager. Then a supervisor told me a home visit would not be any problem. However, the day before the appointment, my new case manager refused to do a home visit, so I missed the appointment. Even tho it was their error, the next appointment they offered was over 2 weeks away. They know how time sensitive my situation is, but just dont care. They obviously have people working there who have no business working for a charity.
Update:The best staff to come across, especially if your looking for genuine staff! Great care by Dr. Wright, Angelica is an amazing receptionist.Shannon, Dr. Ana, Anthony, Crisol, and I cant remember his name (Draws blood) are such great people. This organization TRULY cares. Dont be afraid to take care of our self with ASA Moody Clinic and Services. #1 ALL ACROSS.
I went in because I was homeless and just diagnosed with HIV and they help put me in a motel for 3 months then helped me get housing and the housing is being paid for up to 3 years. Its a great place with really friendly and caring people. This is a God send and I think that anyone who truely needs help and wants to put in the effort to get that help should come here.
My experience couldnt be worse with ASA. I came to America two years ago from Spain. My english wasnt good and I had no idea how it works the insurance system in the USA. I tried to email them before getting there but they wouldnt explain much to me and everything in english. When I get there I tried to find them but they didnt have their location on the website, I emailed them asking where they were but they called me to try to help me on the phone but my english was very bad to understand the conversation. I was about to run out of my medication. Luckily I told my problem to a friend I met there and it happened to be a former worker at ASA. One week later I had a doctor and a copay card for my medication. One year later my copay card was over and my insurance was asking me for $2000 to get my pills. I called ASA and they transfered me to someone who wasnt in the office so I left a voice mail. Two days later I called again and they transfered me to another person who wasnt there neither and again didnt call me back. Two days later I called asking to talk to a manager and the person who answer the phone told me they could only transfer me to him if I was waiting to talk to someone for more than 2 days. I told her I was waiting for 4 already and she said Im sorry, theres nothing I can do for you. I know a person who works for them but I didnt want to use a personal contact. Finally I did, I text him how angry I was and that I had three pills left. Then I received the call from the manager who gave me the name of a Walgreens who could help me. Yeah, they didnt help me, they told me to go to walgreens. I did and I found an angel called Oscar there who helped me with everything. As far as I know there are nearly 20 people working for ASA. All I see they do is fund raising after fund raising but I dont see the impact those fund raising have in the community. I talked to some other HIV positive people in Austin about this and they had similar experiences but they dont want to say anything just for the same reason I havent done it before; I didnt want everyone on facebook to know Im HIV positive. I dont care anymore and this review was in my bucket list for two years.
I called the location on Friday 5/31 and spoke with a rep who confirmed that they will be doing testing on Saturday June 1st, from 11am-3pm being that they do testing every 1 and 3rd Saturdays. However, when I got there at 11:45am the location was closed up and no one was there. I kept calling and calling but no one ever answered the phone. I waited for another 30 minutes and still no one showed up. While I was waiting in the parking lot, additional customers started arriving and was just as shocked that they were not open and there was no note on the door indicating why not. Getting testing is stressful enough and to get to the location and not able to find out what your results are is devastating after being told the location will be open. I eventually left the location and went about my day but I called back around 2:30pm and some guy answered and said they were doing testing offsite for the day. In the future, please put that in the calendar on the website, posted on the front door and make sure that your staff is providing correct information. Because if I had known that it was offsite, I would have went to the offsite location. Thanks.
Came in and got tested pretty quickly. Nice staff, everyone was very attentive and it was a seamless process. Joey was great!
Worst place ever, i benn try to get services from them, and they alway are saying that they have a waiting list for everything, i really need help for housing assistant and the answer from them was, in order to help you firts you need to be our customer, and at this time we are not taking more case management customers, i told them that i was to be evicted from my apartment , and the best option they give me was contact other organizations, thst even if they take me as customer they give priority for homeless people( hello i am homeless now) also they are always busy, the intake specialist a woman named Cristen never returns my call and she is always in trainings or meetings.Austin AIDS Services recieve millions of dallars in goverment grants and private donation and they spend most of their budget in untrained and rude staff payroll and fancy building expenses , instead of spending it in the people most need it , WE the HIV and AIDS patients , please somebody do something, we really need help, this guys are always looking for an excuse no to help you.
Very Nice people, caring and compassionate, I support them with volunteer time and donations. Thank you ASA
I have not really been helped at all. I tried to get help financially, for my husband.
Dont trust them....Especially the case manager
Above and beyond helpful.
