Dr. Ward and his team are very compassionate. During one of the hardest years; a year of loss and grief, and now a cancer diagnosis it is nice to hear a caring voice on the phone when checking on the status of a loved one. Thank you for caring, especially with this journey just beginning.
Dr. Ward has walked me every step of the way on my Cancer journey. He has always been exceptional! I have trusted him with my life.
Dr. Ward led me through a “close call” decision on a cancer treatment. He was attentive and provided the information that made my decision clear.
Dr. Ward saved my life. I think he has an outstanding bedside manner and I trust him completely. Yes, he frequently runs behind on appointments but that is to be expected for a doctor as busy as he is. He is trying to save lots of lives. I never felt rushed or that he seemed distracted. When ever I saw him, I had all his attention. There is a reason you have to wait to see him. He is in high demand.
This was my first appointment with Dr Ward. My former oncologist had retired. He was thorough and personable.
As always Dr Ward is compassionate and knowledgeable. I have never written a review for Dr Ward but I want to share my experience. First I dont believe I would be here if it werent for him. I was 43 with young kids and he made sure my treatment was aggressive and complete. He answered all my questions and never rushed me. Because he stays very current he realized my cancer may be genetic. He insisted I get tested..I am BRAC1 positive so he made sure I saw genetic counselors and planned treatment accordingly. I was able to be proactive and now I am healthy and a grandma!. Thank you Dr Ward for your continued care and excellence. Marcia
Dr Ward is great!! Very knowledgeable, answers all my questions, listens to any concerns I have, plus he’s an Ohio State fan!!!
I have been a patient of Dr Ward for 1 1/2 years. He has always had my best interest combating my breast cancer. Always explaining my procedures and answering all my questions. I would definitely recommend him and his team at OHC.
Writing a review is something I never do. However, I am compelled to do so in this case. I have been treated at OHC for over a year. I August following a CT scan I notice that the report indicated that the was new metastases on my Thoracic spine. When I asked Dr. Patrick Ward about it, his response was, The Radiologist always gets it wrong, thats not new metastases, its cancer leaving your body. When I told that to 3 other Physicians, they looked at me as if I was from outer space. At first, I wanted to rejoice about that information, but deep inside I knew that could not be true. I am not a Physician, but I spent 30 years as a Health Care Executive, so I have access to a lot of medical resources. Including a nephew that is a radiology oncologist at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston. Who told me after reviewing the report from one of my CT scans that I would begin to experience back pain.Six months later and with a new Physician, I now have to take radiation theory for that back pain that could have been addressed six months ago. If I were only told the truth.Im sure Dr. Ward is a good Phyician, but he missed it with me. When I told OHC I wouldnt be back and why, they removed my access to their patient portal...
I would highly recommend ohc is a place to get your Cancer Care. Dr Ward and all the nurses there are the kindest and most compassionate nurses
I will forever be grateful to Dr Ward and the entire medical team at OHC for, 1. Developing the treatment plan that saved my life and 2. For administering that plan with confidence and compassion. Nearly 8 years cancer-free
Dr Patrick J. Ward was very thorough and explained well to me about my health issues. Also he made me very happy about the results of my blood work. Which was everything went well.If ever I have to come back again at OHC I would like to have Dr Patrick J.Ward again. Also the OHC staff are very friendly and helpful.
Found Dr Ward knowledgeable and direct including me and my husband in my plan of care and potential outcomes. Living about 2 hours away from Cincinnati he was very accommodating. He gave us a name of a Radiologist who will continue with me after chemotherapy. He is most accomplished if you look him up. He also makes the information understandable to the lay person. I thank God for putting him and his staff in this journey. I would recommend him to all. Thank you
Great care 24/7 questions answered always Thank you all
I love Dr. Ward and the OHC nurses, because of them I am cancer free. Dr. Ward is knowledgeable, kind, reassuring, brings a dry sense of humor and is very personable. He is always willing to talk things out, go over it again and answer all your questions.
I was referred to Dr. Ward and OHC by my breast surgeon for triple positive breast cancer. I had 6 rounds of chemo and was also part of a clinical trial that is still going on. OHC took great care of me! Dr. Ward explained everything thoroughly and I still have check ups with him, but you spend most of your time with the many nurses and people in the chemo lounge. I had a lot of side effects and the nurses were always on top of everything. I am so appreciative of Dr. Ward and the staff of OHC!
My family and I are so grateful for Dr. Ward and everyone at OHC.
I love OHC staff and Dr Ward is very passionate about his patients care and survival. He generally cares about my overall health! Kudos to OHC Blue Ash!
Disappointing to have to wait 1hour and 15 minutes to see the dr. My appointment was at 12:30 and did see dr until 1:45.
Dr. Ward is one of the most kind and caring oncologists at OHC. He took the time to answer all my questions and was very patient when it came answering my questions. I feel lucky to be under his care.
I only wish I didnt have to give this doctor a star. This was my mothers experience with Ward and his staff. My mother was diagnosed with cancer in 2013. Dr. Ward followed her until 2017. Because Mom decided not to seek treatment if her colon cancer returned this physician told her that he understood as it relates to her age. Mom was 85. But when he added, Treatment would be a waste of resources, it was all I could do to leave without causing a scene. Waste of resources? I would venture to say that he would not use these same words with someone who lived in Terrace Park, Indian Hill or Hyde Park. Mom doesnt live in any one of those zip codes.Without exception Moms wait to see Ward was a minimum of 1 hour--and that is AFTER she got into the exam room. We waited for 2 hours to see him on more than one occasion. As far as the staff is concerned they are cold and clinical. No soothing chatter, no warmth, no personalities there. At one point we were waiting to get shown into the next exam room, except the nurse forgot us. I saw her lumber down the hall with her brown bag to go to lunch. Needless to say, Mom was shown to the room quickly when I brought the oversite to their attention. Now Mom has a different cancer and she wanted to seek an opinion for treatment of this new cancer. Maybe radiation or palliation? I called to change doctors. Good luck there. I wanted to see a female doctor and requested her while Mom was in the hospital. I suppose the doctors in that practice are reluctant to see another doctors patients. So, were moving on---and I suggest you do too.
I always have a good experience and feel my health is his concern.. He answers my questions and does not hesitate to ask me if I have any concerns. I feel great when I leave. Also the staff are very friendly
Dr. Ward took me on as a patient when my medical oncologist retired. I loved working with her, really trusted her, so Dr. Ward had some big shoes to fill. The schedulers said his patients love him and now I can see why.He was prepared for our initial meeting. He knew my history, so I didn’t have to waste time catching him up. He focused very quickly on where I am now, what my thoughts, feelings and needs are. He listened closely because he wanted to get to know me. He answered my questions very patiently and thoughtfully. He took all the time I needed, didn’t rush. While I wish no one ever needed an oncologist, if you do, I’d recommend considering him. Yes, the lobby is dreadful. Yes, they’re slow. Yes, twice they forgot to order my chemo meds, but problem-solved so I could get my treatment. Yes, their billing has been quirky and inaccurate in my case. Yes, the nurses and MAs really do care. But, together, we BEAT CANCER!
This is the second time that my husband has waited to see Dr. Ward for 1 and a half hours for an appointment. Today, 2 hours after our scheduled appointment, Dr. Ward NEVER showed up. We plan to send him a bill for a complete waste of OUR time.We will not be returning, nor will we be recommending Dr. Ward to ANYONE.OHC...Over booking patients is just not good practice. Also, Dr. Ward recommended major surgery without knowing or bothering to find out all the FACTS. He clearly does not have my husbands best interest in mindWe are headed to MD Anderson.
Do not go to this doctor! Very insensitive and cold to his patients. Does not value anybody’s time. My dad waited 2 hours for his appointment which took a whole 15 minutes. Doctor took a phone call in the middle of the appointment and did not read the case file before hand. Not willing to discuss treatment options. Really pushed for the port and said the chemo pills were not an option. Received a second opinion and the pills were a non issue. All in all, not the type of doctor you want when you are going through something as emotionally tolling and scary as cancer.
I normally do not post reviews, but I felt the need to. I was extremely disappointed in my experience with Dr. Ward and OHC. First I waited over 2 hours for my appointment. (This was the second time I waited 1-2 hours for an appointment at OHC). I could excuse this if it was the only issue but it was not.Dr. Ward tried to push me intr a treatment plan that I was not comfortable with. My type of cancer is rare and I am young. When I brought up questions and my concerns with his plan he tried to scare me into why this was the way to go. This did not address my concerns. Then when I brought up the fact that this would interfere with my long term activity level, he started blaming patients and why their actions cause these effects. He started throwing numbers at me, when I brought up the fact that the numbers he was throwing at me werent true, aid not apply to me. He agreed I was correct and then agreed to run more tests to get my personal numbers. I did not appreciate having to outsmart him to get him to run more tests to find my personal numbers and was trying to push me into a plan without all the information. When he agreed to run the more tests that should have been the end of the conversation. I said I was not going to make a decision until we got the numbers. Dr. Ward then proceeded to tell me how I was wrong for another 20 minutes and that my concerns were all incorrect and continued down his patient blaming mentality.I will not be returning to OHC and Dr. Ward.tment dh
My wait time was all together 1-1/2 hours to see Dr. Ward for 5 minutes, blood draw 10 minutes and Prolia shot 15 minutes. I dont think that is efficient use of a patients time or a reasonable expectation. So if I was at OHC a total of 2 hours.
I always feel Dr. Ward gives mr the time I need to ask my questions. He does so politely and professionally, even though I am sure my questions slow him down. Thank you, Dr. Ward.
Dr. Ward explained everything so clearly. I came in with a problem, he outlined a treatment plan, we start within a week. What could be better?
The staff is kind personal. It’s very busy you can have a long wait.Dr. Ward gives each patient the time they need
Dr Ward is a very nice man and hes compassionate. He listens to you and I like him very much
My mother in-law was diagnosed by Dr. Ward correctly but the treatment of her diagnosis was unprofessional and lazy. He had her do the first round of chemo which shrunk the cancer to almost nothing but when he had her take a medication to keep it at its current size she had a bad reaction to the medicine and had to stop taking it. This caused the cancer to start growing again. My mother in-law asked the Dr. about laser removal and he refused to do it saying it couldn’t be done. He then had her do another round of chemo and more radiation which didn’t help… He got kickbacks from her chemo but when he could do nothing else gave up and started ignoring her issues. She sought a second opinion from another Dr. who said they would have been able to remove the nodes after her first round of chemo but it was too late at that point. She could have had 5—15 years of life added to her if this had been done. She ended up transferring to the new Dr. because of the mental and emotional mistreatment from Dr. Ward, of my mother in-law. Always seek a second opinion when it comes to this because some doctors are only looking for the money they can get out of a patient not keeping them alive. My mother in-law died August of 2018 after being diagnosed in fall of 2016.
I have been blessed to have been treated by a very competent, caring oncologist throughout my cancer journey. The staff at OHC in Blue Ash is always sensitive to my needs and Dr. Patrick Ward takes time to hear my concerns and provides feedback to keep me healthy. I would highly recommend my oncologist at OHC to anyone facing cancer issues.

He was very courteous, thorough and easy to communicate with.

Dr Ward and his team make you feel so comfortable. All along the way you get encouragement.
Dr.Ward is very knowledgeable and personal. I appreciate that he always gives you the time you need when you see him.
Slow. Doctor is a phone freak! After waiting over 1 hour in the exam room, I went looking for him. He was in an office texting on his phone. He finally came to the exam room and we began talking. Within 2 minutes, his phone rang - he answered and began having a phone conversation during my exam. He left the exam room to continue his phone conversation and was gone over 10 minutes, so I left! This doctor is socially inept. He lacks professionalism in his dealings with others. He did not know the purpose of my visit, as he did not take time to review my medical record. He failed to introduce himself to the patient. Total slacker and doesnt put the patient first. Zero bedside manner. He must have skipped this part of med school in favor of his microbrewing hobby. A total waste of time.
Dr. Ward was very nice and I felt he understood my needs as a patient.Thank you!
