Helpful, kind staff and surprisingly wide selection, especially for a thrift store. Definitely coming back for more, and would recommend to friends in the area!
Great thrift shop with clean, hip cloths! Seems like a lot of nice households donate here..prices are very thrifty with color coded tag specials throughout the week...variety in all types of odds and ends and a pleasant staff :D always fun to pop in!
So much cute stuff omfg i wish i lived closer but also kinda glad i dont bc id spend all my money here. but also prices were extremely reasonable so that wouldnt be such a bad idea.
Good selection. Mostly clothing and accessories, some furniture and home decor. Clean and well-organized.
Trevor in the testing area is a dream. Super kind, courteous, professional and thorough (bonus- appropriately good sense of humor). You can tell they take pride in their work and they’re a really good fit for the job/responsibilities. Good and comforting people person. Couldn’t wait to leave a review giving the positive recognition they deserve and to share my appreciation. Can’t speak too much to the shopping part of the store besides the one time I came about a year or two ago- I was able to locate every specific lil thing I was hoping to find to piece an outfit together. That was a remarkable stop and memory.
Great store and profits go to a good cause, plus the employees were super friendly and helpful.
Very positive and friendly experience, super clean store and a variety of collectible goods to choose from. 10 out of 10 would visit again!
Its a very hip place..after seeing the noodle bowls I knew I was in big trouble. ..
I have been thrift shopping all over the country for the last 40 years, and I have never seen such ridiculous prices anywhere in that entire time. RL Polo sweater shrunken to doll size, as thick as your thumb absolutely unwearable even by a chihuahua. Priced at $15. Filthy shoes, 15, 20, $35. Heres the thing - when you shop on eBay and pay eBay pricing, you get a guarantee. An eBay guarantee. When you shop at a thrift store, you should not be paying eBay prices, because you get nothing, no guarantee no nothing.
Visited it for the first time on 30th October. I like that when I spend money here, it goes to a cause. A lot of different clothing options to look around, though plus size options are a little limited. I wore the clothes I bought here to an interview the next day and was offered the position on the spot so it is now my lucky store. For anyone wanting to support a cause, this is a great way to do it.
I visited Out of the Closet Thrift Store, at 1230 N. High St. in the Short North neighborhood of Columbus, for my first time on 9-20-2023.I have walked by that store many times while on my way to and from events at Stonewall Columbus, one block to the south, but I had never actually visited there until recently. It had been fun to walk around Out of the Closet Thrift Store for thirty minutes or so and to see the many interesting items that they have for sale. Certainly, the items that they have for sale at that store will change every few days. The woman behind the counter told me that 96% of their sales go directly to the AIDS Healthcare Foundation’s HIV/AIDS treatment and care programs worldwide. Also available at the Columbus location of Out of the Closet Thrift Store are free HIV testing and a pharmacy. If you are looking for some one-of-a-kind items and you also want to support a worthy cause, I recommend Out of the Closet Thrift Store.
I love this place. I stop here every time I come to Columbus. They offer FREE HIV testing and Some STI. All you need is an Id. And if you get tested they give you 5$ off your purchase. I found a few nice things today!! Nice people working too!! I got tested and was negative. Go find out your status. Stay Safe.
Unfortunately, after three years of going here, the prices are simply too outrageous. Asking $8 for a t shirt and $30+ for coats, video games, and other common thrift items is completely unaffordable and just screams only in it to make money rather than actually provide affordable items. It’s a thrift store, not a boutique, not a marketplace, and surely not a retail store, so it is very sad to see that this is no longer a thrift store. Stick with goodwill and salvation army if you want to actually find affordable clothing. Pricing items based off of their maximum selling price at a “thrift” store is hypocritical and completely contradicts the purpose of a thrift store. If this store wants to continue to operate, especially in a student environment, the prices need to be lowered. -a past weekly-customer
Love what this place does for the communities. Free hiv and STD testing too as it is very expensive elsewhere. I take all of my clothes there to donate because no one seems to donates big and tall men’s clothes there. So when it’s time to purge my closet 3-4 times a year. I take 4-5 lawn bags of clothes there so someone will enjoy basically new clothes. Most still with tags on them.
A great thrift store! The store is very clean and has excellent quality items ranging from shoes to clothing to household items. There are dressing rooms for trying things on and the staff is very kind.
What a great little plane with a great concept. Totally appreciated the store and its mission. Was also excited to see the prices were decent and the staff was super friendly. Would love to see more items and Im sure that will come with time so please donate here you wont regret it. They are doing great things for the community!
Cool spot with ALOT of stuff - and they were very friendly and helpful.
One of my favorite thrift stores in the Columbus areas. They always have unique items and decent prices. They have a much bigger inventory of clothing than general items. Also, they have an excellent mission and are an important community resource.
Ive only gone once (so far) and havent spent a lot of time there, but this place seems really cool. Great second-hand items at great prices. I really like how holistic the store is by also having a pharmacy on site and free HIV testing. Staff seemed nice too. Ill definitely be back again!
One of the smallest thrift stores I’ve been to. Not much selection to pick from - kind of disappointing! Also, nothing was organized by size and it made it very difficult to shop. I found some really nice pieces but ended up disappointed because they weren’t my size.
My experience was not all that positive here. On the day I visited, staff was helpful and friendly. I purchased a chair however, that I didn’t know would be too big for my car at the time. They graciously held it longer than the amount of days they usually hold items for pickup, while I arranged for it to be picked up with a truck. One of the employees (Christian?) was very rude when he contacted me about having to come pick it up. He told me that I would not even receive store credit for the item if I brought the remaining pieces back & not pick up the chair. I contacted the store later that day to say that I would definitely be coming to pick it up, and confirmed this with the same employee. Later that day, I spoke with the manager who informed me that his staff had sat my chair outside in the rain and it got ruined. The staff may have done this purposefully. I’m not sure why there was so much ill intent behind this transaction.
I loved what they stand for and the services they offer. The place is spacious and super clean! Really good prices on clothing and shoes and friendly staff.
Great thrift store! There are plenty of clothes to choose from plus an array of other things like books, decorations, shoes, furniture and more. Staff are always super nice!Changing rooms are in the back corner and you can get 10% for brining your own bag! Also, the money goes to a great cause. Definitely my favorite thrift store in Columbus!
Incredibly nice people, and they do a great service to the community. I love donating and browsing stuff here. I recently found a great printer for just 5 dollars! A wide selection of clothes and books, and some decent electronics and other stuff here as well.
This place is amazing. I found the best shirts here. My friends also found delightful knickknacks that theyve been wanting for a while. The staff here is also quite nice. This is definitely a business I want to keep coming back to. I would recommend this place to any thrifter that wants to find something fun every single time.
A staple in our rounds of thrifting adventures, we love to support a business with a mission in our household! I always find more than planned here, the clothing selection is great, plus the staff are conversational and pleasant. I was a little disappointed that they refused to sell me something priced and on display, but we keep coming back.
A friend and I were in Columbus for the day, and we joked about finding a gay little thrift shop but there we were, walking up High street when we find an actual queer thrift shop. Insanely reasonable prices, lovely and helpful staff. Like Goodwill, but better.
Best thrift store in the city, hands down. From household items to mixed media to clothing to art to jewelry and so much more. They give out free condoms. Great location with its own parking lot. Hundreds of items for a dollar every day of the week. Stellar customer service and all the employees are so positive and helpful. Another place I recommend for all my tourist friends. Oh and you get 10% off if you opt out of having your purchased items bag free; eco friendly baby, thats what Im talking about. This place is so perfect for so many different reasons and if you have donations (clothing/furniture, whatever), they will pick it up from your house.
I found some great deals! A mouse and keyboard, a stereo, a bike lock. Then woman at the register had the most amazing orange hair. Like brilliant hue. So effin cool. And attractive. They always have items in great condition too.
Found some great items here! They had some of my favorite brands like Anthropologie, Madewell, and Everlane for an affordable price.
As a thrift store, what you’ll find is hit or miss for your style and budget, but things were very reasonably priced and they seemed to have a lot of sales. This place really cares about community, and I’d never felt so connected to people I never met before. Everyone was very kind, so I highly recommend stopping by when you can. I love that my money is going to a place that helps people.
I can appreciate the cause the money goes to and will happily support. However, it seemed kind of small, and there wasnt much inventory that interested me on the day I went.
My favorite place to shop! They always have new items and have amazing deals! Like these brand new Nike Air Max still had price tags on them and never been worn that I got for only $4.50. 💕💖💕 Im definitely going back to shop there again. Definitely recommend to everyone!!
Great place for free std testing but it’s first come first serve so make sure you get there early. All the staff were super nice and friendly and the process was very quick and easy. They also give you free condoms :)
Cool second hand shop with clothes for everyone, shoes, furniture, applicances. Fairly large store to comfortably shop in!
These people do great work for the community, including free HIV testing and free condoms for visitors. Its both small AND priced a little higher than most thrift stores, but thats to be expected. Everythings organized really well, the staff are nice, and (thank GOD) theres parking in the back. I love coming here for cheap clothes, and apparently it isnt too bad for electronics either. When my partner and I were last there, he found some expensive adapter cable in a $1 box. So if there are any weird little cords or cables youve been looking for, it might be worth it to run by. Its a great place overall. Check them out.
I rate this five stars because of how special it is. I live in Toronto and when my friend and I visit Ohio we go there to look around because it is a thrift store, but mainly because it is a cool LGBTQIA2S+ friendly area. It is nice to know some of the staff is queer and it is so awesome that Americans can get free HIV testing at the clinic within. That is so important and a necessary service that should be free always. In terms of the atmosphere, I will not lie, it is a bit empty. But they have amazing deals (I got a flannel for a $1) and have a nice selection of leather goods and some decent long sleeved shirts. They had a grande piano last time I went, which was nice. They also have a water bottle refill station, but no public washroom, unfortunately.I have never encountered a bad employee, in fact, I had a very nice talk with a gentleman about what is going on in the States in general and abouy Canada. It was really nice. I got about ten pieces of clothing for $40 which was a steal, pretty much.Overall, I liked it. It is a little empty, but the novelty is there.
I have been to all the thrift stores in the columbus area and Ive got to say, that today was my first time coming here, I was absolutely impressed with the set up, the clothes, the prices and the friendliness! I made out with some great stuff for a great price. And thats all a girl could hope for when thrifting, keep up the great work! I will be back.
Fantastic staff that picked up my donation on 9/7/2023. Very kind and professional. Great job!
This was my firsts time ever coming to this store, I go past it almost everyday Ive been going past it for a total of 3 years I was always to scared to enter but something told me I should today so I did, everyone was super nice and friendly I felt like I could be my self and not worry, I was soooo happy I felt like I could take on the world I even bought an outfit which made me feel like me I felt like I was home and thats the best feeling ever! The staff is also super amazing Im definitely coming back here more often!
LOVE this store! $1 racks are a gold mine for any age!!! Ive had GREAT finds ... From the perfect (re)gift to designer clothing to a nice $14 couch! Wonderful staff, every time!!!
This is my store. I buy a lot of things from them. Fans, clothes, jewelry, a couch, and much more. The staff is always friendly. I love the prices and the discounts you save on certain tickets. You also save a little money by not using a bag .works for me!
What a wonderful community center. Come find lightly used clothing and other items with name brands, which all goes to support the access to prevention and treatment of STDs, and HIV/AIDS. Thank you to all who are patrons of this business and to the business and those who volunteer here to help improve the quality of life of those who live within our community.
Always a fun place to find and buy things you want and things you didnt even know you wanted. Just double check the quality of the item you are thinking of buying. When it comes to furniture check check and check again to make sure that there are no bed bugs signs whether alive dead or eggs. You dont want to buy them also. I know someone who bought a chair looked thoroughly and still ended up with infestation in that chair.
Store is kinda big but the selection isnt that good and some stuff were overpriced... i thought it was a thrift store😭😭
Dont really understand what the big deal about this place is. It was fairly empty of merchandise when we were there. The clothing seemed to be priced well and so did the books but, kitchenware prices were a joke. You can get nicer stuff far less expensive at estate sales.
First of all, the place goes to a great cause and as a customer you can benefit from that cause since they give out free contraception. Then theres always great clothes and an interesting assortment of art, furniture, dishes, and other knick knacks for your home. Its an especially accommodating shop if youre trying to save money. They even have a student discount.
Hands down favorite thrift store. I wish it was bigger! The prices are a steal - like a new J.Crew dress for $4 or a leather bag for $8. They have a few racks with $1 prices. Sometimes clothes might be heavily worn or stained, but I could find something for myself at any visit. Almost all of their profits go to the AIDS Healthcare Foundation. Shop sustainably and donate to a good cause 💙
The idea of the thrift store is amazing. Love the philosophical direction, the free STD testing, and the people are nice too. The selection is small though and everything but the clothes are a bit disorganized. Neat place though.
Not enough parking. I got off the interstate to check this place out, and had to keep driving right back to the highway since the parking lot was beyond full. There were also cars parked incorrectly and blocking others in, since the lot is way too small.
Absolutely love this place! Every time I visit there are so many new things. Great clothes and for an amazing price. Definitely will be going back to and recommending.
Glad to see this place open. They are restricting the amount of customers, requiring you to wear a mask (they will provide one) and have hand sanitizing stations available. Free testing is available on an appointment basis.
This thrift store is really quite unique! They offer HIV testing, have an onsite pharmacy and also encourage eco-friendly practices. I love wandering thru thrift stores and this one did not disappoint. Found a brand new skirt for $4. Friendly staff too!
They change their times alot when it comes to STI checking, on the answering machine it says its available Monday through Thursday (schedule ahead) an then i was told its ONLY done on Monday and Thursday, usually im able to reach somone but i couldnt so im confused, overrall staff is nice just needs to be more organized.
I love browsing the tshirts here. Theres always something interesting to find. You can also find kitchenware and other odds and ends. Staff is friendly and the layout is inviting. This place is a neighborhood gem.
I love this place because they do free HIV, hepatitis C and other sexually transmitted disease testing. Its all 100% free and confidential. You can even look up your results online. They also have a pharmacy and a thrift store where they do sell nice clothes. Very friendly staff works here as well.
Highly overpriced and rude workers. The clothes all looked old and most were faded or had piling and some even looked dirty. Couldn’t believe how rude the workers were either. This place is trash.
I find it strange that a thrift store who offers free HIV testing does not offer a public restroom. When I ask the sales person they directed me to a Kroger down the street or coffee shop who make you buy something before you use the restroom. The other associate staired at like I had three heads and made discussed face. I planned on staying to shop but now because I was made to feel unwelcome Im leaving and taking my business elsewhere.
I bought a new sound system called out of the closet asked if they wanted my old speakers which were in excellent condition. After driving over unloading my speakers they asked if they could hear the speakers to make sure they worked ok in the parking lot are you serious? So I loaded up the speakers called Best Buy they were happy to take the old speakers. Wasted my time driving over to Out Of The Closet.
Good place to thrift on the cheaper end in Columbus. Friendly staff. Student discounts. They offer free STI testing for the community, which is why its good time upper Out of the Closet!
Out of the Closet is a thrift store type place with a good cause. They provide plenty of services to the community. They have free and open testing for HIV several times a week, and provide testing for other STIs but not as frequent as their HIV testing.
Support local Healthcare with this central Ohio shop
Got some amazing outfits here! Prices are super affordable, options are varied, and well organized!
A great little place for treasure hunt!!!! I love this place, they have fair prices and staff is super friendly, and the profits are destined to a great cause.
I made an appointment to have furniture picked up. The CSRscheduled my appointment for 8/14. When I called to confirm the pick up on 8/14 they could not find me in the system. After a few attempts, the CSR located me in the system for next Friday, WRONG, I was specifically told 8/14 not 8/21. This person has very poor customer service skills, and should NOT be answering, or making appointments. Whenever I make an appointment I always make a note of it, you should go back to Customer Service training and take notes on how to be an intelligent, and professional CSR.
The place is very clean and the staff are really welcoming. There are a lot of different clothes, books and other merchandise that are fairly low priced. Worth a look around.
Me and my girlfriend love this place!! Good prices, and a great environment from the employees to the signage and free testing. Has a great vibe :)
Friendly staff, great finds, proceeds used properly, good prices. FYI all donations must be left during business hours. NO after hours drop offs anything left after hours WILL be thrown away!
Nice folks run this thrift store. Good buys. Private place to try on clothes. 10% discount if you dont need a bag for what you buy!
Great place to shop, their merchandise is so on trend and I love the pharmacy staff, extremely professional, friendly. They render legendary customer service with care and compassion.
My absolute favorite thrift store in town and place to shop always look forward to going and seeing whats new and always count on getting a good deal
Great staff. Wellness clinic offers free rapid hiv testing. Blood and urinalysis std testing Mondays and Thursdays from 2p to 6p
Was very nice, was hoping for more clothing but did get a couple items at great price that was not expecting to find. Will recommend everyone make donations an shop here
One of the best community resources in Central Ohio. Nice selection of gently used clothing and household items. Free HIV/AIDS testing on site and a pharmacy is located in the site also.
If you can find a place to park everything else is great. But every time I come the extra small parking lot is full.
Called store for hours. Left work early to make it on time yet when i get there they are closed And refuse to service me. Dont offer services and info it it isnt accurate. I spoke to Jacob and he lied about the hours. I left work early missing out on money. If i could afford that i clearly wouldnt be coming to this dump.
This is a great place. I do quite a lot of shopping there...everything from clothing to fine furniture. Staff nice and most of all professional.
Best thrift store in Columbus!
The atmosphere was cool, everything was clean, the employees were really friendly, it was well organized and the money spent goes to an important cause/population.
Literally the worst experience I’ve ever had they say no refunds which is understandable but whenever my girlfriend is standing there handing them her money and then we realize the couch we just bought isn’t gonna fit into the apartment while we’re still standing there seconds after the money was handed over and we asked to get a different one but they won’t give us back the difference need to remind you while we’re still standing there seconds after paying Sounds like the worst customer service to me I’d rather catch the plague then go back in there and deal with such people like that
Friendly, fun and for a good cause. Parking is tricky for larger vehicles, but managable. Very clean, especially for a thrift store.
Have cool stuff available. Everything is cheap and they always have great sales and deals. Very nice, cool people working here.
Youll find amazing deals here. Really good name brands! !Good prices. Cheaper then good will and the thrift shops! !
Thank you, Angela Eason. You hit every comment I wanted to mention, so thank you and THANK YOU to the amazing staff at Out Of The Closet for being open for business. Love the store. Love the staff.
Super friendly staff... Could use a larger selection. Prices are very affordable! Great experience!
Many odds and ends that one would expect from a thrift store. Some that one may not!Very friendly staff. One of my favorite places.
Ive found good wearable clothes and housewares here. And its located near some other fun places to visit like the library and other thrift stores.
Great place to find inexpensive used clothing and other items. Very friendly staff!
If you spill soup on your tie at lunch, you can get a like-new one here for two bucks. Sweet. Supports good causes too.
I always sense a very good feeling from this place. Good thrift store, friendly people.

I loved this place! It’s very organized and the staff is very friendly, plus the proceedings are going to help a great cause!
Great place and clean, love it. Nice 2nd hand stuff for really cheap price .

Freindly workers, nice merchandise at a reasonable price! Some items are rather unique too.
Well priced and all money goes toward queer healthcare.
I love the cause and free condoms and HIV testing, but I can never find anything here that I want to buy.
Especially good kitchenware, furniture, and books. For a worthy cause -- highly recommend!
Well curated. Not piles of junk. Always find a great deal here plus money goes to a great cause.
Love this store for thrifting an also that they give so much back to those with Hiv.
Staff is very friendly and great sales just make sure you check the tags!
Love the selection of clothes that Out of the Closet has available. Everytime i leave with extreamly lighter pockets.
Great thrift store for a great cause. Always clean and friendly staff.
It was ok, but rather high priced like goodwill for donated items, name brand or not shouldnt matter!!
Great clean store with a great inspirational crew! Support everyone, help for those that need it
Love this place and so friendly. Great variety of merchandise.
Fantastic collection of things to purchase at an affordable rate.
Always a great experience shopping while picking up scripts at the pharmacy!
Great company !! Love that profits benefit the community. Great selection too!
Pretty sweet joint, fear not theyre all pretty awesome sauce.
This place smelled so bad. Not a great selection and a lot of the clothes seemed out dated and worn.
Loved the great deals! The customer service is amazing!
Most things in this store should be less pricey or given to clothes pantries for the homeless or needy... The staff are clammy and cold 😢
Great prices for nice stuff! Excellent shoe selection!!
Great quality used products where every penny goes to help our community.

Lovely place with lovely people! Great clothes!
If thrift stores are your thing this is worth checking out.
Overpriced bad attitude behind the counter and little or no help to find what your looking for could be more kind to others
