After reading the negative reviews, I almostcanceled my appointment with Dr. Ryan. I am so glad I didn’t! She was kind, thorough, professional and gave me plenty of time to talk about several issues. I felt at ease with her immediately and appreciate her gentleness with the Pap smear. Dr. Ryan took me seriously, fully explained next steps, and answered my questions patiently. The front desk staff was competent and fairly friendly, and the nurse was pleasant, friendly and thorough. This was a very positive experience.
Dr. Ryan is awful!!!!! If I could give 0 stars I would. She has poor bedside manner and seems as though she is just going through the motions and standard speech. I have been to her twice and both times she was very fixated on my weight. There was no tact in how she talked to me. She lacked compassion and empathy. In addition she talked the whole time and I had to interrupt her to ask a question. She would not prescribe birth control pills to me because of my smoking history (I am in a cessation plan now). I asked what I could do for birth control and she said just use condoms. Seriously!!?? I was dumb founded. I have never been in tears after a doctors appointment, but today was my first time. I could not stop crying from her abruptness and insensitivity. The office staff were very attentive and nice. The office manager was nice as well and tried to smooth things over and make it right. Unfortunately, there is nothing that could have been undone from the awful experience. Never go to Dr Ryan! She is a nightmare!
Left in tears. Came in due to what feels like tears on my skin down there. She looked around and as she did, a skin tore down there and it began to bleed. She absolutely refused to have seen anything and told me to put Coconut Oil for moisturizer. She said there are no tears and made it seem as if I was out of my mind. Very rude and wanted to quickly get out of the room. I also wanted to switch birth control and discuss it, but I was in to much shock of her attitude. Also wanted to do a pap smear as I had abnormal results from last year, and have already discussed it with insurance as they approved. She refused to do it. I payed the copay and left. I never thought I could leave an OBGYN with tears running down my face. I think that is why she always has availability. I will never return to her. Please dont go to her and keep your daughters away.
I don’t recommend this practice, I went to dr Ryan for a Pap smear, and only a Pap smear, I didn’t ask any questions, nor did I have any health concerns to discuss with her because I have a regular physician, but she droned on and on, and then when I got my bill she had charged an extra $35.00 for smoking cessation counseling!! Counseling??? I never asked her for any counseling or advice, in fact I told her I had quit smoking, it was just another way to pad the already $400.00 bill they were charging for a Pap smear and exam! I already pay an exorbitant amount for health insurance, and this is one of the reasons why. My advice, find another gynecologist!!
I went to her for a colposcopy and cervical biopsy. The first thing she did when she walked in the room was pull up a chair and speak to me on my level and that alone says a lot about a care provider to me. She explained everything thoroughly, answered all questions clearly and with care. I had a good experience despite being anxious.
Dr. Ryan is knowledgable, however I feel the hours the office provides for appointments are unrealistic for a working professional. There is zero flexibility for someone who lives in Fairfax and works in D.C. I now have a hectic afternoon a few Thursdays from now where I will need to race to two appointments for maintaining my health.
This is the worst experience I have had with a doctor. She is dismissive of health concerns, treats you like a number, barely is in the room for longer than 5 minutes, doesn’t listen or have any empathy for patients. I do no recommend trusting this woman with your body.
Dr. Ryan shows that she cares for her patients while providing quality care.
