After reading some of these reviews, I feel the need to comment publicly on my absolutely excellent experience with Dr. Starks and his staff. Will he hold your hand and sugarcoat your situation and bring platitudes into your treatment? Absolutely not. But if you’ve worked with multiple practices previously to no success (I’m talking multiple rounds of IVF retrievals and transfers, not just some Clomid), you get tired of the BS and want a straight shooter.Dr. Starks will not recommend prescriptions or perform procedures if he doesn’t think they have a chance to be successful. He will “make you” wait a few months if he doesn’t think a quick fix will be successful. He doesn’t want you wasting your time or your money. It isn’t necessarily a lovey-dovey bedside manner, perhaps, but it is effective when you have a goal to achieve. And I don’t mean to imply any of this process is cold or unkind or unfeeling or excessively profit-driven. Far from it. I found the entire staff to be warm, to hold space for my many questions and anxieties, and to care about me as a person.Dr. Starks helped me have my first child. He helped MANY of my friends have healthy children after I recommended him above anyone else in the area. And the kicker - when I got unexpectedly pregnant a second time while I wasn’t under his care, and was terrified following my previous experiences - his office (Brandi in particular) swooped me back under their wings and provided blood tests, early scans and an incredible amount of reassurance. There was zero need for them to accommodate me like that, and they did. This is an amazing practice. If you want thoughts and prayers and hair pats, maybe look elsewhere. If you want results … there’s nobody better. I’m forever grateful to him, his entire staff, and Brandi in particular, who acted as a de facto therapist to me for a significant amount of time.
Dr. Starks is amazing. Everyone I know that has gone to him for reproductive help have become pregnant, include the twins he helped us concieve. He is very honest about if he thinks his services will work for each individual based on their situation. You deserve honesty when going through infertility.
Mr. Stark initially seemed so uninterested in talking to my husband, even though he told me to bring him. He had the lets hurry this up approach which automatically didnt help. Id spoke with Katie Lorand previously which helped me get my PCOS diagnosis, please go see Katie I trust her. Mr. Stark left me and my husband under the impression that a specific test for my husband was optional.... it wasnt. Then later to be told that if my husband doesnt do the test they simply just wont help us, more specifically we didnt think wed have to spell that out for you. thats a nice slap to our faces. Brandi and Karen both seem so uninterested and unsympathetic to our needs. Brandi or Karen clearly werent going to call first because when I called an spoke to Brandi 3 weeks after my visit she reads my results to me instantly. Mr. Stark gave me a diagnosis but no real help with the aftermath. Mr. Stark told me hed give me clomid, ordered blood tests to do so, only later to be turned around and told only after I retake metformin...which doesnt work for me. Please if you want real understanding help dont go to him, youll need to be physhic to get help
Dr. Starks was still willing to see me even though I forgot to fill out the paper work ahead of time. Even though I made him run behind all day most likely he spent 30 minutes with me. He is very blunt which some women might take as rude but he has a plan for me. Brandi his NP is phenomenal!! She responded to my super long detailed email within an hour towards the end of the day and copy and pasted my whole email and answered every question, she immediately put in the order for my trigger shot and I was able to get it ordered right away. Another thing is their pricing, they are by far the most reasonably priced fertility clinic for self pay patients. Also you’ll be hard pressed to find a fertility doc who isn’t a little blunt in their delivery. I can tell he has a soft side but when he’s trying to set realistic expectations he is straight to the point.
I was referred to Dr. Starks in 2012 by a good friend who had used him for her surgery and infertility. After several ultasounds and check ups with different Doctors, Starks was able to look at my history and said: I believe you have stage 3 endometriosis and then proceeded to schedule me for surgery. Sure enough, I had stage 3 endo and PCOS!! Surgery went well and soon after I was on fertility medicine and 5 months later, we were PREGNANT! YAY!! I am going back to him this month for another consult because the pain is back.... I HIGHLY RECOMMEND Starks. Yes, he is blunt... but to the point and is very good at what he does! Also, Karen (his Assistant) is amazing at returning phone calls and she is always so pleasant to talk to!
My wife and I went to Gregory Starks over 15 years ago. My wife had a tubal ligation done many years earlier after her 3rd child with a previous marriage. We wanted to have a child between us to help bridge my child from a previous marriage, with her 3 kids. Dr. Starks recommended IVF. The procedure is expensive and tough on the female. Daily intramuscular injection are required with some having strict time schedules. The medication has its adverse effects too. Dr. Starks fully informed us of all the possible pitfalls and adverse effects of the medication. He was patient with all of our numerous questions throughout the entire procedure(s) answering them fully as well as could be expected. His staff was also very helpful by giving us suggestions on how to get the fertility meds cheap as our insurance would not fully cover IVF treatments. They would followup with calls after all surgical procedures and were ready and willing to resolve any questions or concerns with any logistical issues. 9 months later we received into this world with the knowledge, skill, and patience of Dr. Starks through Gods grace a beautiful healthy baby girl.Today my daughter is a straight A student, a two time World champion in Tae Kwon Do, a successful teenage entrepeneur, and concertmaster violinist in her schools orchestra. I would highly recommend Dr. Gregory Starks for all your fertility needs. He and his staff work miracles and make successful human beings from test tubes and petrie dishes. Thank you sir and still is to this day, the best decision my wife and I have ever made!
After struggling for 5 years with infertility my gynecologist sent me to Dr Starks for further testing and help, skeptical because of the reviews I had read & not ever being to another RE, I was nervous. This doctor greeted me like we were life long friends and was very specific during my consultation. He was clear on what we were doing & why we needed to do it. I asked all the questions I wanted to ask and did not feel rushed out the door. I felt like I knew more in 30 minutes than I had known in 5 years total! The lady that drew my blood was quick and she was good at what she did. Karen was really friendly and I felt like I had known her a lifetime also. They emailed me my results on the day they said they would & Brandi emailed me back and forth addressing all my concerns & questions. They have emailed back quickly anytime I’ve emailed them and have been extremely nice with my many questions. When I say these girls are great, they are great! I didn’t wait a long time to be seen, it was clean, and everyone was smiling. If you’re seeing anyone else, you need to see this doctor & his team immediately! I don’t do reviews often and I’m not giving a good rating because I got pregnant, because I haven’t yet. But this doctor really is outstanding and I instantly felt like I was at the right place.
He is different from so many doctors you meet by not being very explanatory about why you need this or that procedure. He knows what he does and expects you to trust him. I was baffled at first and wanted to leave him for another option but now Im happy I did not. Because he was right about everything and he delivered the result.UPD just came back into this old review by accident and want to mention that thanks to Dr. Starks we have greeted our first beautiful daughter into this world and then had another one unaided. Although initially I felt weird, he was very warm to me before and after the surgery and also when I had a breakdown and cried right there in his office, gave me a hug and promised it will be all good. Back then, 3 years ago, like some of the reviewers here, I had had a feeling that some people on his team were being rude to me in some moments. But I know now that I was super sensitive back then and needed and craved very gentle and even motherly treatment which no one there was obliged to provide. They were trying to be very efficient and maybe that felt like rushing or rudeness. I don’t know. Could be that they were having a bad day, they are humans too after all.The bottom line is that this team gets things done and I’m grateful to them
Horrible doctor!!! He made super rude comments to me and my husband before and after our IVF cycle. The only time he was nice to us was during because he was getting paid! They didn’t even want to try a 2nd cycle with us because “it’s a lot of money” they said. Well I’m sorry but is he paying for it??? He’s not compassionate at all and we need a doctor that will be for what we are going through. I’m glad he’s retiring because I would NOT recommend him to anyone! Horrible, horrible doctor!
We went to Dr. Stark after being disappointed from results using another hospital. Dr. Stark was very professional and strait forward with us on our first appointment. He explained everything that would occur and operations we would undergo. His staff including Brandy went above and beyond to assist us through the entire process. I would highly recommend using Dr. Stark and his team. We will be back for our second child. Thank you so much.Dustin
Dr Starks was very rude, and during our initial appointment made fun of my husband. They said I had PCOS, even though Ive never had any symptoms and refused to do any follow up tests to confirm, and they wouldnt explain to me why they thought I had PCOS. They just put me straight on Metformin. Brandi always acted annoyed when I asked about my results or when I asked follow up questions. Theyre not responsive, and it takes them a long time to return calls. They havent done any tests to see whats going on, just jumped right into IUI, which failed. Ive heard from other patients if his that they think he is cruel and mean. Im switching because I can no longer even trust the whole team and I feel far more hopeless now than when I started.
After going through heartbreak multiple times, and other doctors not being able to figure out why we couldnt stay pregnant, we were referred to Dr. Starks. He figured out what was causing my problems, helped us get pregnant, and have a successful pregnancy!
Dr. Starks is amazing! He is very knowledgeable and has a way of making you feel calm! Brandi is also amazing! She is ALWAYS fast to answer any questions through email or phone. Karen and the rest of the staff are great to deal with as well. I definitely recommend this office!
I have PCOS and did not ovulate--- my story in a nutshell---WOW!!! DR STARKS IS AMAZING. I went in November 2016 for consultation and some blood work. Results came back a few days later and he said with those results there was a strong possibility i had endo. Surgery was scheduled a month later... i did have little endo but more so i had a lot of scar tissue. Im gonna assume from my c-section with my first child. Surgery went great. they put me on birth control so i could fully heal. We started clomid with the HCG trigger shot in February and it failed. We tried Letrizole in March with the HCG trigger shot just because and it failed. In the beginning of April, my husband and i decided we would wait and try the injectibles, we were kind of bummed that February and March Failed. Brandi scheduled our apt for the injection class an she asked us if we wanted to go ahead and try one more month of the clomid while we waited. i said sure. well that was the month!! Were 8 weeks pregnant. NOTE: i did not get the trigger shot the month i conceived. I do believe the trigger shot is why Feb and Mar failed. i wasnt ready to ovulate and the shot forced it to happen. If i would have gotten trigger it would have forced me to ovulate on day 14 or 15 but i didnt get it and i ovulated on day 18.... so unbelievably exciteddddddd.. Karen and Brandi are awesome!
After having to wait a very long time for my first appointment I left feeling like I had wasted my time. Dr starks very clearly did not have a strong understanding of gestational diabetes. He also spoke in definitives without having done a single test. He told me I would be unable to bear children but at the same time I should allow him to try ivf. He did order test but have gave me these diagnoses without having the test done. The staff has already called me to tell me I must go to a third party to have my blood redrawn because a sample was not stored correctly. They were less inclined to help me find a location or ensure I was not charged for the redraw as they were eager for me to agree it was not their fault. I am left wondering if I am unable to bear children then why ivf? Or would ivf help then I am in fact able to bear children. I am currently looking at finding another fertility specialist to help me get to the bottom of my fertility issues. One that will not jump to conclusions without having the facts. One that does not make me repeat test. And one with any kind of bed side manor.
After 2 years of trying, my husband and I were recommended to Dr Starks. We absolutely loved working through this with him and Brandi. We were always given the information we needed to know without making us feel like we were less of a couple.
Dr. Starks gave us our miracle baby and I would recommend him a million times. Hes a doctors doctor and provided many friends with their miracles as well. He will always hold a special place in our hearts. Thank you will never be enough.
Dr.Stark was insensitive and rude. I waited months to see him with high hopes. And left feeling like i wasted my time. I felt extremely rushed when meeting with him. He diagnosed me and told me my only option was in vitro without ever doing any testing. I left feeling more hopeless and confused than i ever felt. My appointment was at 1:30. I arrived in the lobby at 1:40 after being a little confused about where to go. Anywho all in all i was walking to my car by 2:10. That was after being checked in, weighed, vitals and health history taken by the nurse, met with him, met with his nurse practitioner, and had labs drawn all in that short time. For such a major subject his approach from beginning to end was horrible. I was barely able to get a word in without him cutting me off. Horrible experience.
Dr.Starks was wonderful to me. When everyone told me there was no hope with my infertility he was able to look at my history and tell me I had pcos and he would help me...now I have a beautiful little girl that he helped me concieve.... thank you Dr. STARKS!
Bonnie Cain my experience was the same as yours. He diagnosed me with testing me also I would not recommend anyone to him. And sent me a bill for 200.00 which will never get paid! Based upon these reviews it look like he only help the ones he like.........
This DR made it where we had 3 kids!! Thank you science and Dr. Starks!
He talks very gently to patients. Was happy to have talked to him
