This clinical environment is extremely clean and well kept. There isnt a whole lot of space for seating in either waiting area that I saw (2). There is clear signage posted and the support staff is very good and efficient/helpful. The exam rooms were also very well kept, stocked, and clean. My review is on the space and support staff only, as I have a different view of the clinician I saw and will not be returning because of my experience with her.Updating review to reflect my experience with Lisa Ma, DNP. I went in to establish Lisa as my PCP. When we were going through my medications, she told me she could only give me one refill of my Venlafaxine- as a psychiatrist had to prescribe after this and she wasnt able to refill it. Id never had this happen before and thought it was weird, and even questioned her on it, but chalked it up to rules possibly being different in NYC, as we had just moved from out of state. She kept telling me I needed referrals for everything, despite my telling her I already had diagnoses and records from my doctors in Illinois that I brought with me. She ended up giving me 7 referrals, that were not needed at all. I will give her kudos for spending so much time with me, and actually charting all of my issues. I have many chronic illnesses as well as mental health issues, and I didnt feel rushed at all. That being said, the way she treated me after the initial conversations and my explanations regarding my illnesses and history is disgusting. I had literally just finished telling her I was in an abusive household as a child, had a boatload of trauma (especially regarding my body/weight) and that I have eating disorder tendencies and have starved myself in the past. When she got up to do my physical examination, she told me I was grossly overweight. This was shocking, to say the least, and it really blindsided me. Then, when she lifted my shirt- she said/asked, youve been pregnant?, to which I said no. She then commented on my having a lot of stretchmarks for not having been pregnant, I told her this was a result of my having previously been over 350lbs and I had had massive weight loss of 150 lbs in my early 20s. She then started to lecture me on how to go to the gym and what things I needed to do, as if I was ignorant. I mentioned that I had gained 40lbs back, after sudden chronic illness 6 years ago, and that I knew what to do because I had been a personal trainer. That I am consistently working out, and its a slower going modified workout due to chronic pain and illness. If I overdo anything, it can make me bedridden for weeks, and I explained that I am still finding what the right amount of working out while maintaining a normal life looks like for me. She just looked at me and said, You know youre too large. Its like she didnt believe that I knew my own body well enough. This was, to put it lightly, extremely triggering for me, as it is very reminiscent of abuse from my childhood home and former partners, which I definitely discussed with her. I have never been treated this way by a medical professional, and shocked isnt even the right word. I bawled after leaving. My husband and I were so blindsided it was smothering and horrible experience with her, it was so unexpected I feel like we couldnt react.I did receive a phone call at a later date to discuss the providers behavior- and Im happy to have had the follow up, unfortunately I do not recall the gentlemans name with which I spoke, but he was extremely professional and empathetic. If I recall correctly, I believe he was in a position above the medical providers. I also received a letter from a person in a patient liaison type of position if I were to need further assistance. These things are very appreciated, and Im hoping that through my initial conversation in above mentioned phone call, that no other women or patients will have to deal with such abhorrent behavior from someone that is supposed to be a trusted part of their care team. I cannot and will not recommend Lisa Ma in any way.
Where do I begin!1. I filled out a survey at the end of the survey they asked whether you want someone to contact you with your concern I am still waiting its been almost 3 months.2. Lab (blood work) theres a sign that reads starts or open 8:00 a.m. patient starts lining up at least an hour before 8:00. When the doors open at 8:00 AM patients have to wait another 30 to 45 minutes for the first patient to be called to draw their blood.I took it upon myself to walk to the back of the lab what I witness the staff chatting and having breakfast on business hours. I requested for a supervisor. I was told there is no supervisor. This problem is not just a one-time its all the time they dont have no consideration that the patients come in fasting and let them wait for such a long time.3. MyChart, my husband has repeatedly requested for refills of his thyroid meds when we checked with our pharmacy no meds. Just to share with you my husband has had his thyroid removed its important for him to have his thyroid meds.
Would not accept a patient due to young age. Typical SNF looking to maximize profit over providing quality care. Avoid.
I had my dental checkup done with Dr Adelya and had an excellent care provided for all my dental requirements. She is great at her work with a positive and friendly attitude. I’m highly impressed with the services and professionalism.
My partner went to the Gouverneur Skilled Nursing Facility after he had a stroke. His physical and occupational therapists Tom and Stacy are stellar - the vey best. They are immensely talented and kind and caring and because of their work he was able to walk again and regained functioning of his arm. The rehab rates 10 stars. But the rest of his experience there was hard. If you go here you desperately need to have an advocate otherwise you will suffer. For example, the staff said he could have a shower once a week - a terrible thing when you are in physical misery and have no control over bodily fluids. When I complained they said patients can get more than one if they ask for it. I demanded help getting him to the shower so I could help him get one every day. Most of the nurses and aides were nice - a few extraordinarily so - while some were mean. One refused to help him go to the bathroom. The nurses station is hard to find, located in a side corridor, and phone calls there often are not answered. To reach someone you have to call the hotline. Before coming to Gouverneur he was in acute rehab at New York Presbyterian Weill Cornell where everyone was spectacularly kind and respectful and immensely helpful. If Gouverneur cares about improving, they could learn best practices from NYP. Anyone can end up in a nursing facility - including those who work in them. Why not treat people as you would wish to be treated.Do not sign any document agreeing to pay what your insurance does not cover. The social worker Ms. Morales demanded that he sign a finance agreement and said he would have to leave if he didnt. She and the patient accounts person in financing also insisted that he fill out a lengthy form to apply for Medicaid or he would have to pay the $750 per day cost to stay there as his Medicare coverage had ended. He already had Medicaid and they still kept insisting he reapply for it. I went to the Medicaid office in person to ask about this and was told that he did not need to reapply, that there is a simple form to fill out to move from Medicaid community-based coverage to nursing home coverage. I told the Gouverneur finance person this and someone above her got back to me and said that he did not need to sign a finance agreement and just had to fill out a short form to switch to nursing home coverage. After this the claim that he was being uncooperative and would be given 30-day notice to leave was dropped. All nursing homes are miserable places. But they dont need to be awful. It is not too much to ask to treat people with caring and respect, especially when they are in physical pain and enduring a terrifying experience. And especially if they are all alone. CMS gave Gouverneur 5 stars and it is probably one of the best by comparison. He was lucky to be there because of the rehab so I switched from 2 to 3 stars.
Was fourth in line at 9am for COVID testing. Still waiting an hour later - the woman controlling the line is skipping people ahead at her discretion.Empty testing booths, while everybody waits in this bureaucratic mess!12/19 update: New person/black male managing the line - I got in line at 8:45am and was tested and on my way at 9:02am. There was no line skippery and everything was efficient!4 stars because I wish they offered longer hours!
Love love love this clinic .Its facility is beautiful, clean and neat.Staff is friendly and haven’t experienced long wait before. Highly recommend
I have to say how impressed I was with the entire team at the Eye Clinic, they first gave me an appointment for over a month but assured me that if any cancellations they would reach out and they did; my registration went very smooth and the doctor was so patience with all my questions she made sure to answered everything I had concerns with
This regarding to the inpatient rehab…I wish I didn’t have to rate this hospital because it’s worse… the hospital had a make over on the outside but that’s it the rest of the hospital looks like Wards Island Psych Institution…the nurses are not caring at all they ignore patients the food is horrible the atmosphere drains the patients. I guess draining insurance companies are why they still in business because the care sucks… my daughter needs intensive OT and she has not received any OT that since she’s been there which has been already 4 days…please do not go to this hospital if you care about your health… I will have my daughter move to another Sub Acute Rehab.
People on the phone were extremely useless and unprofessional. The last lady I talking to was very rude. They just kept transferring me more than 10 times and then hung up. I just wanted to refill my medication. Each of them asked for my number to call back but never actually did so after it was disconnected.
I call them they just hang up and don’t answer when I came to them they sent me and didn’t help me in any way
Incompetent.. have a sprained or fractured ankle that felt broken and is swollen was told on the phone with nyc heath and hospitals to walk in to this facility. When i walked in he said i havenever been treated at this facility and my pcp is in Brooklyn so i could not be seen and for me to go to cityMd instead with my broken ankle. Essentially he could have squeezed me in if i was seen before at this city hospital.. they will stare at you in pain and tell you to go somewhere else. Horrible facility and behavior
This is the worst place im49 years old and I’m here recovering from a stroke and there’s not enough nurses to care for everyone and so are very nasty and mean, I don’t feel like I’m going to get better here this place is mentally breaking me down I suffer from depression and anxiety and this place every day has caused me to have anxiety the food is horrible I’m waiting to get transferred somewhere else! Please don’t send your love one’s here this place is extremely bad
Bad experience with the pediatricians in this hospital, I tried two different ones but they both seem to dont care about their patients. Appointments wont last more than 5 minutes and they dont listen to concerns or ask questions about development of the baby, as a parent I wont recommend to bring your kids to pediatrics here, unless you want them to be treated like one more number and with zero professional ethics and humanity.
Ive been coming here for years and always find most of the check in personnel, nurses & doctors to be caring, helpful and professional. (5 stars)However, my recent visit in July at the Womens clinic turned out to be unpleasant. Let me be clear this review is solely based on the conditions of the waiting area. It seemed obvious the seating/waiting area at the Womens health clinic is in need of replacement and upgrade; fabric on all the sofas are ripped and peeling. Its unsightly and tarnishes the sanitary standard of the hospital. I was glad to find a plastic kids chair to sit on while I waited for my appointment. I hope this issue will be addressed soon.
Im very disappointment on the treatment my brother is currently in this hospital/nursing. Theres a lack of cleanliness. The rooms are filthy. The smell is horrible. When I went there two weeks I basically had to tell the cna to shower my brother. My brother had brain surgery almost 3 months ago.The department of health really needs to go in this hospital for they can see with their own eyes how patients are treated and how filthy this facility is.One star only because without that you cant comment.
Dr. Schmidtberger is the best physician at Guveneur Hospital. My mother has been under his care for the past 11 years and he genuinely cares about his patients. He will go above and beyond to follow up with her. Very respectful! Highly recommended
I was able to walk in for an emergency dental consultation and see a dentist in about 20 minutes. Dr. Kathy Yeung was kind and listened to all of my concerns. I left grateful for the NYC public health system!
Been going to this location for about 50 years. I moved to Buffalo 5 years ago and I still come to see my primary doctor Dr Hanley that Ive been having for more than 20 years. When she leaves, Ill stop going there. We lived one block away and my mom still lives there.I also went through 2 pregnancies and my daughters are 31 and 29.I can say I grew up in this hospital and I have no complaints. It was renovated a few years ago and I think its much better and more organized.
I was at Gouverneur Health on 12/07/2020 Dept of Finances on the first floor. As patients waited to be allocated there were people that had been waiting for awhile. Two supervisors where out that day. A couple of the workers took it upon themselves to have a good socializing time and avoid helping out the patients. Took a picture and the worker was very upset at being photographed. Kept defending herself as being on break. If she had been on break then she had nothing to worry about. Security was called and they left me alone. They know what goes on there. David Arroyo was called he is an Patient Representative. I made a vocal complaint and dont know if it is going to be followed through. Did I mention that I spoke to other patients one of them had been waiting for over and hour to be taken care of. As the two young ladies were having their chit chat with no concerns about the patients. Sad how a few person can tarnish the reputation of a place. We all have rights and we need to speak up. They have great doctors. They need better supervision of their workers. I will save the picture. Dont know if I am allowed to share here. Later on now in August 2021 I find that nothing was done about it. Told by one supervisor that next time to call 311. They protect one another and forget about the patients rights.
My grandmother was in this place for 3 weeks. She was able to walk when she went in and now is unable to walk. She was able to use the bathroom and they put diapers on her. They did absolutely nothing and she now has bed sores from this place. You also cant get in touch with anyone here to find out any information. Find a different place for your love one
So so hospital. Would not send my loved one there. Great views on top floors though.
Just want to say that I wrote bad review on the dental clinic. What I didnt know how much dentistry has changed, now that I know, let me say that the dentist department has done a pretty good job. Especially after my 2nd visit everything was explained to me. So thanks for now. 👍👍
Most of the staff is friendly and helpful. My primary care doctor Carson lee truly cares about his patients my mom and I have been visiting him over a year and he is always open to hear any concern and put his best effort to help. The lab and pharmacy are good as well sometimes they get busy but nothing crazy.
The clinic part of the building is very nice since my mom have been going to the same doctor for over 10 years. Recently, my mom have been sick in the hospital and couldnt walk because she was very weak and had Pneumonia and decided to go to the rehab/nursing part of the building. When we were admitted to the place, no one ever inform you anything and the case worker can never be found. The nurse aide wont help you go to the bathroom, they did give a lot excuses of not helping and just want to put a diaper on everyone and leave them in the room. The physical therapy isnt any better, they just give you 15-30 minutes to move you legs and arms and ship you back to your room. Even though the staff at the physical therapy was all very nice, the rest of the time there was pretty pointless and much of neglect from the floor staff. The nurses do give you a bunch of pills throughout the day, since I was there everyday I did ask what each one pill was and one of them being a stool softener I told her to delete, but at a later time gave her the same pill again and again. If any of the staff actual help my mom they wouldve known she had diarrhea throughout her time there. My advice, stay away from rehab center and get better at home or if its a serious illness its better stay at the hospital where doctors actually visit you everyday and nurses to help you out throughout the day when you need to go to the bathroom or move around. And by the way the case worker (Jan) gave us a appointment for a follow up in 10 days, that appointment was never put in the system and my mom and myself wasted our time again in the center. I hope this center do improve in the way they run the place, because in so many ways the patients who doesnt have a family member there would be neglected if some of them cant even walk, speak or move.
I had right knee replacement surgery on January 25th 2023 at NYP. The surgery went well, but most of the nurses there were disrespectful & lazy. The food was disgusting, & I could not eat it because the so called chef would only cook the meat rare, and when breakfast, lunch, & dinner was served the food was always cold. As a result, I lost a total 0f 14lbs in the 7 days I spent at NYP & I was very weak. When I got to Gouverneur Nursing Facility, I was able to regain my strength because the nurses there are AWESOME! They are very sweet & attentive to your needs. The Physical Therapists are AWESOME AS WELL. They helped me to bend my leg and they also helped me to walk better. I was given cold packs to take down the swelling. Something they never gave me at NYP. The staff at Gouverneur took the time to teach me & explain to me how to become independent, & how to exercise my right knee. The food at Gouverneur, Was Delicious! all the different ethnical dishess made my stay at gouverneur so wonderful. I actully looked forward to breakfast, lunch, & dinner. I mean, coconut crusted Tilapia with garden salad, fruit, and your choice of juice or soda. Spahgetti & meatballs was simply scrumptous. Thanks to Gouverneurs wonderful cook. I gained my weight & my strength back. I was discharged from Gouverneur in February of 2023, since then Gouverneur has called me several times asking me how am I doing?, have I had any falls?, Or have I gone to the emergency room? & yesterday March 21st, 2023 Gouverneur is still caLling me because they are so caring & concern about my health. I truly thank God that I found Gouverneur Nursing Facility because they nursed me back to health, & they are so loving & caring. If anyone has family members or friends that need to be in a Rehabilitation center, Believe me when I say, Gouverneur is the place to be.MAY GOD BLESS GOUVERNEUR NURSING FACILITY & ALL OF THEIR STAFF. THANK YOU FOR HELPING ME GET MY LIFE BACK ON TRACK.
Poor service, one of the mandarin translator was rude and uneducated, Making judgements in mandarin in front of the patient and talking haughty all the time. I was trying to make an appointment for my dad who doesn’t speak English and mandarin. He required a cantonese translator but somehow a mandarin translator took over the phone. So I decided to speak for my dad, and make appointment for him. She said that I did not inform her about the authorization and that I did something ILLEGAL? Even though I apologize, she kept implying me that I was in a serious situation and wasted doctor’s time just because I didn’t inform them I was making an appointment for my dad. She told me to call back to make an appointment again. However, my call got cut off when I used the same phone number to call back. So I had to call them with a different phone number. They don’t show any respect to patients. Whoever that mandarin translator was, shame on you.
Pt and OT staff pretty good-bit the doctor in charge does not return phone calls and is not listed in the directory. Been trying for months to get one basic symptom addressed without success. Now down to short time before discharge and no solution in sight.
I would give this place 0 stars if I can. The care at this hospital is terrible. If you have a loved one, don’t send them here. They do not answer call bells timely, it takes 2 hours for someone to come help. In that time a lot can happen. My Dad has been getting ill care since he went in. I should have pulled him out thenext day. But now he had Covid and can’t leave. Find somewhere else to go if you care about the patient.
I used to be a volunteer at Gouverneur and I really enjoyed my time there. I built so many wonderful relationships along the way, and with that, I decided to show up to each big event, just to help out. The outreach and volunteer department has a special place in my heart. So a shout out to them. Everyone was just extremely kind and thoughtful. However, I wish it was the same for the security guards. A lot of them are extremely dedicated to what they do and very understanding too. I understand that security is a big factor in safety and that its a strict process. But today, I encountered one guard (she knows EXACTLY who she is) and left on EXTREMELY bad terms. It wasnt just me who had an issue with her, but a few others, including staff and people entering the event. If it was just me, then yeah, Id see that maybe I was the problem, but that wasnt the case. I wanted to believe that it was just a bad day for her, but it seems like thats just who she is. I have no idea what this person went through to obtain such arrogance and ignorance. I was just a volunteer and she wanted to ruin my experience. I live by, you are GIVEN the respect that you GIVE. She failed to do that. My two cents to her, If you start a conversation with an unreasonable attitude, youll only receive it back. If you dont want me entering through an exit door even though its more convenient, say it nicely OR why leave it open to purposely make it look like an entrance? Like please, would it kill you to be more reasonable? Id give 5 stars to everyone except that person.
My grandmother was recently discharged from their short-term rehab program, and I can definitely say the staff from PT/OT, nursing, and social work are very caring, knowledgeable, and great at their work. Despite the high staff-to-patient ratio, they were able to give her very individualized care. The 5th Floor facilities are modernized and clean. The only thing that could be improved on is the discharge process, which needs to be more streamlined. Highly recommended!
I have experience with many pediatrics throughout nyc . Dr Kelly ly has been seeing my kids for most of their childhood, she is a wonderful Doctor. She has been one of the best Drs. I won’t take my kids anywhere else . She genuinely cares about her patients and wants them to make the best choices in life . She is good at resolving their health issues and making sure they have the best care possible and settling any anxiety you have around your kids health. The few times she was not available another Dr would also make sure they were taken care of. I highly recommend this hospital.
I had 2 gyn visits here recently and all the staff were terrific. The nurses really know how to use MyChart for messaging, so I dont have to try to call them on the phone for everything. Dr Ortega was great at explaining things, and he didnt try to rush me. I will go there again anytime i need care. Addition: I had a bone density test (dexa scan) and it was fast and easy. Great service!
Don’t waste your time here. They are clumsy, slow, and disorganized. I had lab testing done and they lost the only test that I cared about! After retaking the test they lacked the grace of calling me back to tell me my results. So I called my doctor and after 10 tries NO ONE answered the phone. Annoyed, I go to three different desks in three different locations of the building just to get my results. Once I made it to the right desk they woman there asked me if it was okay that the person behind me could go in front of me and without waiting for my response (which I was going to say that it was NOT ok) she tells the woman to go ahead anyway. She took twenty minutes with that person. I left. Don’t waste your time here
Went for a free Covid test on a Tuesday in Dec. Arrived at 1:22pm, left at 3:10pm. Received results at 10am the next day. (Went again on a Thursday in Jan and that result posted 48 hours later). This location is relatively organized with employees who seem to be on top of it. Most of the time the line moves quickly, but also sometimes stalls for 10-15 mins at a time with no explanation. Wear warm clothing and boots as you’ll be standing outside for 1.5+ hours.I already had my MyChart account set up from previous visits, but my wait wasn’t any shorter. I received an email notification that my info was entered into the system full 30 mins before I was called.I would recommend to prioritize those who already have accounts in the system. Have patients mark at the top of the intake form that they’re a repeat visitor and have a dedicated staff person enter these in the system separately from new patients.
Ive been coming here for years and was very pleased with everything.Until recently I made two trips all the way from Brooklyn to have blood work one week prior to seeing a doctor place in the system.Once I was told that the doctor was not there to make the order so I went back the following Friday. The nurse told me I have two weeks and again the doctor was not there but she will forward the information and give me a call.during the week.I am down to one week and I am yet to revieve that call,I made a call today only to find out that theres nothing in the system for me to go get it done.I am told that i will receive another call again hope they do.I miss my retired Doctor Patel this never happened for the years Ive been seeing him, he was the best.
My mother was recently at the rehab center for over 3 weeks, after a hospital stay and we were delighted with the care she received there. All of the staff --nurses, social workers, dieticians, physical therapists were extremely professional and caring --always going the extra mile to accomodate us and treat Mom in the best possible way. By the time of her release, she was in amazingly better shape than when she had been admitted and we are extremely grateful.
Dentist Sandra Hoffmeier spent literally 3 minutes for my appointment, refused to answer any questions simply saying everything is fine and I dont understand what you are saying, and then she just left. She behaved very dismissively to my concerns (I had a problem with an 11 years filling). She acted like shes running a charity here. Very disappointing experience.
Went for booster shot. Appointment for 3:30pm. Arrived 3pm. Checked in at 3:15pm. Received number 101. By 4 pm they had only seen 4 people and were on patient number 95. I would have been waiting till 4:30-5pm at that pace. Went to Century pharmacy down the street and was seen in 15 minutes and got vaccine.
My father in law was in comfort care there for 4 months until he passed away. The staff was attentive and the doctor and PA were always helpful in making sure he was comfortable and pain was managed. He died peacefully. They were truly wonderful
Ive been a patient for over 20 years and Ive never had a bad experience. From the clinical staff to the customer service and administrative staff, every experience has been pleasant. Ive recommended a few friends and they love it too. Wouldnt go any place else for my family or myself.
Dr. Sharon Robles and her nurse/assistant in adult medicine, team B, are unprofessional and unfriendly. Dont see them if you ever had an abnormal covid test or mightve been exposed to covid, but are covid negative and just want an annual physical. You will be put in isolation for hours, your info will be discussed loudly in the hallway, the nurse/assistant will give you a dramatic 12ft social distance and jump every time you talk. Dont think about complaining, they will deny, gaslight, and blame the receptionist for their medical decisions. Been with them for almost two decades, they are getting worse, no connection to their patients and no accountability for their errors.
I must praise Mr.David Arroyo from Patient Relations/Assistant Director..Mr.Arroyo went beyond the call of duty. I was having difficulty trying to get an appointment with my primary provider, when I finally got an appointment it was almost three months out! I happen to run into Mr.Arroyo and in conversation mentioned to him how dissatified I was with the wait time for appointments @ Gouverneur. He took my name and telephone # and said he was going to see what he could do. I thought I was not going to hear from him, boy was I wrong. By the time I got home he had had left two messages on my answering machine with an appointment the following day! He also apologized for any inconvience. He even stopped by on the day of my appointment to say hi which made me feel that as a patient I count! The facility needs more employees like Mr.Arroyo. He deserves more then 5 stars..from a grateful patient..
Gouveneur Dental Clinic department is very clean and nice. My favvvvvvv dentist, is Dr. Sandra Hoffmeier, she’s very gentle, explains things to you, patient, and friendly. Highly recommended because as we know, going to the dentist can be very scary, but this Dr puts you at ease with her warm bedside manner. Excellent patient services. God bless
I went for a COVID-19 PCR test on Sunday (12/26/21) morning and received the result at 5:31 AM next day. Even if you book an appointment, you have to wait in line. The waiting time is usually 20-30 mins and the line is outside the premises. Once your turn arrives, the required paper work is done (its faster if you pre register on the MyChart app/website). After than you get a token which can be used at the counters outside for the actual test. Keep checking your email and the MyChart app for the test result. Dont wait for the text message as it can arrive quite late. Please note that the test result doesnt have a QR code on it as of Dec 2021.
Ive always loved every department i went too, down to the pharmacy. I would recommend this clinic to anyone especially after they renovated the building.
Some specialty services and tests are slow, but the doctors and staffs seem knowledgeable, caring and responsible. The hospital is pretty big and clean. Its a well run hospital serving community.
Went there at 8:30in the morning, waited for almost 2hours to get the test. Thought it will be worth it cause this is the only site nearby that opens on Sunday. However it’s already been 48hours since Ive done the test and I still don’t have my result. My flight is at 6pm today…speechless.
Ive been reading the bad reviews and some of them were just opinions. This place is not exactly a hospital. Its a clinic with variety and a nursing facility. Its not hard to get too. You can take the F train to East Broadway. The train station has an esculator that puts you close to the back of the clinic. Its a good place to see all your doctors in one facility.
My grandmother wasnt able to walk due to weakness & she was treated like VIP during her entire 2.5 month stay in rehab. Every department which includes: Nursing, Rehabilitation, Social Worker, Dietary, Kitchen, house keeping, etc., all took assiduous care of her. Because of them, my grandmother is able to walk today and we are forever grateful. As for the complainers that expect everything handed to their love ones, you need to re-evaluate yourself and look up some articles on how patients are getting better results from their family involvement. You cant sit back and be lazy & not get involved in their recovery. Expecting someone else to do your job & just complaining is shameful. If you dont get involved, they will be back in the same situation. Although she was discharged since February, my family still participate in getting my grand-mother up every chance we can. Helping her improve is what you should be doing. If you are not sure what to do is because you spend too much time complaining and not learning from what they were teaching.
Its modernized and looks great, but the service is not what it used to be. You have an extremely hard time making an appointment, and when you do get one its so far away its ridiculous. It is also practically impossible to reach your physician, even to ask a simple question. I never thought changes and modernization would be such a detriment. 😞😡
My dad is in the nursing home since he has altzheimer’s Disease and the nurses are very friendly to me and my mom. My mom has made friendships with the nurses as well as one of the patients mother. My grandma’s surgery was done here as well for her eye the clinic is very friendly. Also she (my grandma) has been here for rehabilitation when she had surgery for her hip. Everyone in the rehabilitation center was very friendly. If I could rate this 10 stars I would.
Some of the front desk attendees are very disrespectful and not patient with people. The doctors are good, they try to get to know their patients. Maybe Gouverneur need to spend some time training their front personnel some customer service, especially since theyre the first point of contact....
Been coming here almost all my life. seen two upgrades at this hospital. they have good doctors. some are better then other. the hospital is clean. local. they should put back the routes they had going to bellevue. now its only twice a day if im not mistaken. which is hard on some senior citizens or people that may struggle financially. the bus/van services were very convenient.
I am a clinic patient (OB) and now my baby in pediatric clinic. Nice modern building, clinic is not too crowded and wait time is not long. Good experience with the staff from MDs to assistants. No complaints.
I think depend what you want from a clinic - if you are doing very general thing - like covid test - they are great. I have not find a great primary doc there yet - I hope they will hire someone really good one day - if you are Chinese - the front desk lady really can help you translate into mandarin
Worst place for nursing facility. My mother was asking for a cup of coffee in the lounge and the server said she had to wait until everyone was served before she can give her a cup of coffee. Mind you, my mother was next to the coffee machine and just needed help to get it herself. This is the service you can expect from a food handler you can only Immagine what the nursing staff must be like.gi e what the nursing staff must be like.
Its a very clean place and the rooms are extremely nice. The food is good. The staff is very nice and loving. The only problem is that there isnt enough staff especially on the weekends. Ive been there for 3 weeks going every day. So I notice this issue. Other then that its an excellent place for your love ones. I highly recommend these facilities to anyone.
3 appointments all on time from a primary care doctor who was concerned about a lump on my neck. I then saw a surgeon for a consultation that was excellent then had ultra sound on a neck tumor 2 days later and was given a diagnosis . All the appointments were on time which Ive never had anywhere in NYC & i grew up here!My previous doctor was generally 20 minutes to 45 minutes backed up for the 5 years I saw him & the previous one was often up to 1 hour behind on all his appointments!
FYI COVID testing does not start at opening. Google hours are incorrect. Line starts forming at 7:30. They give you paper work and take you for testing close to 9am. Very efficient process once you’re in and doctors are great.
I personally think they have terrible service I called them so many time to schedule for an appointment no one was able to assist. The recepitions are terrible they hang up on me and there was time they pick up the phone and I answer, hello. No reply whatsoever. They got one job which is picking up the phone and answering my questions itss not that hard. Like Im trying to help my partents out and its takes forever for them to answer the phone. Im in genral a patient person but they make me frustrated and exhausted.
If you love you SO, you wouldnt put them in the snf part of the hospital. Now aways, the main building acts more like bunch of clinics mashed together, rather than a full functioning hospital.
Even though theyve spent millions of dollars and years renovating, this is still by far the worst hospital Ive ever visited. Nothing has changed, they still make it difficult to see a doctor and get help. I try never to use them anymore, but I really needed to see a doctor recently and just tried to use their walk-in service. Lo and behold, they no longer have walk-in emergency services. I had to plead with a nurse to let me wait and try to see a doctor because I needed a prescription. Initially they told me to just go somewhere else like Bellevue, only after I cried from pain did they let me see someone. I spent less than 5 minutes with a nurse practitioner, though I spent over 2 hours waiting to see one.
I live around the area i been going to this clinic for 6 years .some times its hard to get an appointment but the pediatric department is the best my daughter loves the nurses. Also her doctor, Dr.crump is the best whenever i have concerns she is running test and checking everything. I highly recommend them if your in the New York area.
I came at around 9:30AM to get a covid test. It was very quick, there were only maybe 2 people in front of me. Got my results back on MyChart the next day at noon. The way theyre organized is a bit confusing, hence the 4 stars.
Originally, I gave Gouverneur a bad review, because I had such a hard time getting on their books for my first appointment. But since then theyve been great, really helpful, in both dentistry and hospital, so Ive raised their star rating. Thanks guys!
The OB & Peds department are 10 out of 10Fantastic
The food is undigestible, Head Dr. Alexander Kolessa has his head in the sky as he never distributed my medications as told by my doctor. I went home having a Total Knee Replacement in a 2 door Honda, and with 5 days of Physical Therapy. Occupational Therapy said that they would order my 2 surgical supplies before I was discharged, and then I get 2 prescriptions to do it myself, and for me to call. AND the driver wanted to pick up a friend on the way to my place in his Honda. Do I need to say more (2 door Honda)? What happened to a VAN? They blamed it on my insurance company never on them....I was told they electronically submitted my pain medication, then they couldnt do it. But did they tell me that critical information. NO!!! My driver went in to get my medication. This operation is poorly run. I would not even rate this place and suggest you just move forward and choose another Rehabilitation Hospital that knows how to treat their patients. There are few people that I can honestly say are good and can count on one hand that work there.
Great people, best care best Nursing and Rehab Center. A few months ago, my grandmother experienced a bad fall and sustained a hip fracture. She was admitted for 2 months in the Nursing Sub-acute floor (RM 547B). She received treatment and rehabilitation for her injury. When she came into the facility she can barely move but she was almost full-weight bearing when she went out. It has been 2 months since she went out of the facility and now she can walk independently. Who would even believe that a 93 year old would be able to walk after that kind of injury? She would keep talking about how the CNAs and the nurses took real good care of her, would talk to her when she was alone and bored, would help her with grooming and bathing too. She enjoyed her time while she was there especially when she was attending recreational activities and breakfast activities that the staff would host for her and the other residents. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all those who cared for my grandmother during her stay there.
I love my primary care physician Dr. Hanley but good luck ever getting to see an actual Dr. Usually you see a nurse practitioner or physician assistant and they definitely dont have the medical experience to properly treat patients. I went in on Jan 6 after having a fever for 6 days. I had first thought I had the flu but my best friend and step sisters who are nurses (at Sloan Kettering and Albany Med, 2 top hospitals) made me go to the dr because a fever should not last that long, especially one that spikes to 101 every day. The PA I saw was dismissive and never really listened to me. I told him that it felt like something was sitting on my chest, and that I couldnt cough up anything from my lungs even though I was taking cough medicine for 4 days. I was just starting to cough up some thick yellow phlegm which he said was just post nasal drip, even though I said I was having no nasal congestion. He never swabbed me for a flu test, didnt look in my ears or throat, and only listened to my lungs because I asked him to. He said I had the flu and sent me home with a prescription for ibuprophen and an expectorant, the 2 things I already told him I was taking. Three days later I ended up at Bellevue with pneumonia. That shouldve been an easy thing to diagnose if he had heard that my lungs didnt sound normal, and had sent me for a chest x-ray. My ear clogged with the pneumonia and I went back and saw a different PA 2 weeks later. All he prescribed was claritin and nasal spray. My ear has is still clogged and I havent been able to heard out of it for 3 weeks. I tried to get an appt with my PCP and the earliest appt I can get is April 7! Thats 2 months away.
They only wanted my Medicaid dollars.I showed up in tears telling them about my diagnosis and how afraid I was that my mom would just get a call from some random hospital that her son died and her be blindsided because I was hospital hopping trying to find a PCP to finally start my daily meds. The Nurse and Case Manager kept talking to each other in some Chinese variant about how no one had time to intake me to the hospital just yet.FInally I got fed up and decided that I would try the next hospital as an employee of the Leicht Clinic heads to the employee restroom saying, Im tired of these people coming in here with their attitudes when they dont have anywhere better to go. Laughing. My tears flowed freely much faster as I hightailed it out of their holding office full of scattered paperwork and tons of other peoples health information just there for casual perusal if ever I chose.DO NOT GO HERE if what youd like from a health provider is Dignity and Respect.
I did an upper left wisdom tooth extraction today. Its horrible! Unlike my previous wisdom teeth extraction, this young doctor gave me three shots of anesthesia but I still felt a bit sharp pain. I refused when he attempted to give me the forth shot.My also did my first tooth extraction here. They had to cut my gum and sew it. This is for lower wisdom tooth and I only got two shot of anesthesia which is fairly good. But they cut my lip when cutting threads and poked my eyeball with extracting tool. Thanks god my eyes were closed.I did cleaning with one Hispanic hygienist, literally he just pushed upon the surface with a hard metal tool over and over again. He told me nothing is better than pushing by a hand for cleaning.Honestly this hospital is a dream place for newbie doctors. They have a lot of patients which means lot of a practicing for young doctors. Not surprisingly, majority of doctors there look like young graduates!
When I went to register the lady behind the counter stated that I had to make an appointment to register. Mind you I live around the corner and I had all of my documents at hand, she kept insisting that I make an appointment. I called and they state that I can do a walk-in to register. This lady wasnt trained properly or was lacking certain skills.
My brother whos 4, had an appointment on April,17,2017 in the Department of ophthalmology and the service sucks. The nurse and the doctor dont know how to be patients with little kids to check their eyes.My little brother cant speak and both of them were yelling at him which got my daughter and I really infuriated.
The nursing home/rehab is absolutely terrible!! I am not sure who they are paying to give them excellent reviews. The staff is probably the worst I’ve seen. Inattentive and uncaring. Trying to reach someone is nearly impossible. Please don’t leave your loved ones here!!
I got my antibody test in 12 hours. The staff here are very helpful.
Omg this place has every doctor you could need. I go here for my kids and my own health visits and they have a wonderful mental health clinic I love as well. Such friendly and helpful staff. Definitely especially recommend the children’s services and the mental health clinic.
Horrible. The nurse was so rude and lazy and blamed me for having to do “her job” all while being on the phone. Then when she was supposed to schedule my appt she didn’t do it with the right dr. Or listen to the one who said that she was going to help me. She was too busy on her phone burping and coughing.
Ive been going to this Medical Center since I was just a a child. I never had any problem with Gouverneur. I had to switch Doctors because unfortunately i got older..... my former doctor was Dr. Crump. Shes the best Doctor hands down! :)
I love Gouverneur Hospital! All staff super friendly and professional! My Dr Evan Rausch is a gem! This is probably one of the BEST New York medical centers!
Terrible assistance . Would not recommend this place .. If you leave a family member.. You have to be there Or else . The patiencen . Will be all day alone . They could ring the bell for help . And the nurse neverrr comes.. I have to help many patients . To go to the bathroom . Terrible hospital
Ive been going to This clinic for over 30 Years the doctor that I had their Sharon Robles is no longer there She was just wonderful I missed her so much doctor John Martin I had bad experience The dental department is excellent Just dont feel like going back My kids grow up going to this clinic heartbroken have to leave
Been attending Gouverneur Medical Center since before its modernization and have loved the institution since day one. My primary care physician is on point, knows my history and even remembers personal life details in regard to my career that Ive mentioned. And his two nurses are professional rockstars!Causal and professional care all the time. I wouldnt go any where else unless I had a Senators healthcare plan. Punto.
Worst dental ever and a sensory nightmare for autistic individuals they dont even respect you
Great people here for my booster shot 3nd Dose Covid-19 ,no appointment ,line not busy ,good talking, good services and enjoy gift bag take home 😀 😉 😊
My 84 year old Mom went for a vaccine. She was in the system and they turned her away. Priorities are in the wrong places. How do you turn away a senior citizen?! SHAME ON YOU!!!!!!! You put her at risk!!!!!!!!!!
The hospital always feels hot very uncomfortable. I even hear and see the staff complain about it. Horrible working conditions
Had an appointment, would not see me and blamed a different establishment for making a wrong appointment with them. So that meant they dont check appointments being made or make calls to patients to confirm appointments.
The medical part your in and out i love my son pediatrics doctor Dr.crump she amazing.....forget about the dental department terrible long wait everything is not done on the same day seperate appointments for exam and cleaning.....w.i.c department i was in and out rarely anyone in the waiting area so far so good
The staff is very friendly and caring. Short waiting periods. Have been coming since I was a child and I now bring my 2 children here as well.
This hospital is one of the oldest hospitals in the city. You can go visit it without charge. In the 1800s it was one of the first hospitals to have a TB center. Interesting. Very historical. No charge to visit.
Why is so hard to get an appointment at this place I have a primary care doctor there that I havent seen in so long and everytime i call they are booked up and have nothing
I had an unpleasant experience here. Im glad it was while I was getting my vaccination and not some serious medical procedure.
Free walk-in COVID-19 testing is nice, but the results are taking too long to be useful, going on 5 days. Please speed it up.
I like my gp, however the remaining staff in every other department has causes me to seek medical care from other providers that are friendly.
This hospital is horrible I dont recommend it
Been going there since kid, very good service go for GYN,and Mammograms for years..Very good Doctors and nurses are very nice...
I love this hospital..its very clean and hygienic. I will like to work here one day..
The place is nice and clean but the 3rd floor mean dental department is Soo desorganicer on weekends you can 👂 how the people screeming on the all ways
The Volunteer Services are not only rude, but they are so disorganized. They seem so clueless when trying to give jobs or give volunteer hours.
The building is not hard to find. It is off Clinton Street. Will update later
Professional service. They treated every patient with courtesy and timely manner !
Worse service ever. They transfer my call 20 times to different departments and nobody can help me. I cant believe
Our primary Doctors are excellent, the nurses are good but the orderly are bad. All the services they provide are OK.
Called in to get an appt - there are a few diff people that answer phones here , however there is an Asian lady that answers phones here that is extremely bad for business. Very rude, abrupt and cold. Train her in customer service
Went for Covid testing. Was told I’d get results in 24 hrs but I’m still waiting and it’s been 31 hrs!
Their WTC Health Program is organized and professional.
I been going here for a few months and love it do far Im now starting my prenatal care here cant wait
Very diligent workers, I volunteered and worked here. In my opinion, everyone was positive and professional when they are at work.
Do not trust them with your health. They misdiagnosed cancer as benign and my mother died as a result of this. Look elsewhere.
Very nice staff and great place, staff is very friendly. I volunteer there and Tracey is so fun to be around.
This is where I grew up. It is great to know that there are so many doctors and staff that truly want to help people. Thank you.
Do they NOT know how to pick up they phone ?! Seriously my only problem with this clinic ! Every time I call the WOMENS CLINIC I can NEVER get through !!
They never answer the phone. If you want to contact them, you need to go in person.
Clean, and very knowledgeable staff.
Waiting in the receptionist almost more than 30 mins. No receptionist, no staff to ask you about your issue. Zero customer service as nobody cares are all are busy.
Quick and efficient if you get to your appointments on time.
Horrible place not stayable. We left the place without signing the admision They need to post real pictures of the place.
This location is no longer doing wal-kin covid testing, as of 8/28
They literally have all kinds of doctors and specialists here. Great place!!
Its perfect hospital, clean and all employees are helpful ، doctors are professionals , thank you
COTRECTION, Google: current testing hours are Monday-Friday, 9am-4pm.

At all my appointments the nurses are friendly and so are the doctors. I am happy with your service.
They treated me and didnt tell me that my insurance didnt cover it, I got the receipt and its fine but they sent me to another place for a specialist and Ive been calling for 1 month to have them send me the x-rays of my teeth but they throw them away from side to side and no one helps me, it is very bad service from the reception.
