Don’t go here if you have other optionsStaff were all very friendly and accommodating. it seems like they’re all overworked, at least when i was there around 6pm.I was rushed through my appointment (they switched doctors on me last minute, not an issue in itself, but indicative of admin mess). When i got home, i read my packet and it turns out only half of the 2-step “treatment we just did” was performed. my condition was exacerbated by the doctor’s examining it because of the missed step one.Cannot in good faith recommend, despite the solid vibes. Hire more doctors and front house staff!!!! 30+ min to get anyone on the phone. Also, get rid of residency as a concept, it was invented by THE cocaine enthusiast of the time and doesnt reflect a practical sleep schedule for any sort of good decisionmaking
If you can afford anywhere else, don’t go here. Expect to be seen AT LEAST 2 hours after your appointment every time, I’ve literally waited here for 6 hours before. And then the doctor will rush through your appointment and dismiss most of your concerns. If they tell you they will follow up with you, they won’t. They won’t run necessary tests, and when a test comes back abnormal they will just say it’s fine. The nurses are rude and some of them don’t even know how to take your blood pressure.
I wanted a simple yearly physical. They said they had to have me come in first to meet with the doctor. Then, after that initial visit, I can schedule a follow up for a physical. They just want me to come in twice to charge me that much more for no reason. It’s total nonsense.I’ll look for a doctor that isn’t just out to make money off unnecessary visits.
I had my appointment in April canceled due to the doctor leaving the practice. I gave them the dates I was available as I work full time, and they denied me the option of a squeeze-in appointment despite THE OFFICE CANCELLING MY APPOINTMENT. You’d think that if you’re cancelling my appointment VIA EMAIL, and me having to call to reschedule they’d accommodate me within my request timeframe but no.On top of that, someone at the front desk masqueraded as the manager (Bryan) instead of connecting me with them. And since then I’ve been waiting to hear back from the manager…It’s now JUNE going on JULY and I have yet to receive a reasonable explanation as to the aforementioned situation let alone hearing back from the manager. They stated they’ll call me back no later than Tuesday and my appointment is for Thursday (2 months after they originally cancelled it) so let’s see if they’ll cancel it again and wheb the manager calls me…hopefully it’s before my appointment 🙂
Low rating is due to the customer service and communication with this office. Never experienced issues when it came time to come in and see a doctor but communication is very poor. Expect to chase on communication - typically several times over weeks to get prescriptions/files/etc. I cant imagine relying on this institute for life-threatening conditions or care. Phone lines are outsourced to a customer service dept. upstate so there is no way to reach the actual office outside of the instant portal. Last straw was contacting the dept to inquire on the status of my medication refill that I requested online, I was told the request was rejected and I needed to come in person for an appointment, did not receive any notification via phone, email, or within the portal of this. Save your time and find another office!
This practice started out great and went downhill quickly. It is impossible to get the people I need to on the phone. It is impossible to get them to coordinate with my insurance company. It has been 5 months since I started the authorization for an RX and they are still dropping the ball, ignoring my messages, and not communicating even through their portal with updates. Today was the breaking point for me. One one the people there knew I was calling today to get an update. I left multiple messages with both the office, which is hell to get through to with the gatekeeper of the call center, as well as the call center. I was assured the person was at lunch and would call me back when she gets back. If I was holding my breath I would have been dead 10x over as 2 hours after she was supposed to return from lunch, I still have no phone call from her.
Appointment was made for in person. Upon arrival, we were told appointment was in 2 weeks & virtual. Unacceptable. Friend was given a script that made her pace. Reaching out to her doctor, not hearing back for days. Sometimes only receiving a one word response. If youve had luck with this clinic, thats great. I will not be recommending this clinic.
To be honest I don’t understand why so many people give 1 start. I have my pcp doctor there and for me they are really fast and efficient. The made for me hear test blood test and Pap smear the same day I asked them without make another appointment and I get the results in 2-3 days. The doctors are really nice and friendly but maybe nurses are kinda rude same as receptionist but for me it’s not reallyImportant it’s normal in this city people have this behavior but doctors are really nice and friendly. The place is really clean and beautiful. I have the app and I really like the way they take control of everything and how easy is to make an appointment receptionist sucks as giving you appointments you can just go to the app and make the appointment earlier. Receptionist for me are useless but still I like to go there and the end I’m going there for doctors no for receptionist.
Abortion services are terrible. They don’t give the option of sedation. They don’t give you a small snack before or after hand. You just clean your self up with a doggy pad and go about your day. There was no follow up aftercare but a telegraph call after 2 weeks asking how was the cramping and flow afterwards. No medication was prescribed to me. Not antibiotics or pain medication. They gave me a few boxes of Plan B after the procedure. It was terrible. Don’t get your abortion here.
I was extremely frustrated by my experience with the Institute for Family Health. I was helping a refugee family get help, but 1. promised phone calls with social workers never happened, 2. you cant schedule an appointment within any useful timeframe, 3. we waited nearly two hours for an appointment, 4. we werent told a child needed more immunizations for school, and 5. our phone calls for school forms werent answered. Individuals were pleasant but didnt communicate with each other. I watched other patiences being told that their appointments didnt exist or were actually online, even though the patients had come in person. It was a stressful and difficult process and I wish wed never gone there. People deserve better.
On 2 occasions Ive reached out to receive services from them.On the 1st occasion in 2021 I was set up with an appointment with a social worker. I spoke to the SW for an hour and was then told I would be put on a 6 month long wait list to see someone. I never heard back.I reached out again yesterday and was told someone would call me by Monday to make an appointment. Today I was called to be told they did not have any availability at all. That a mental health institution can do these thing is abhorrent. They are causing damage to those that are seeking help with their mental health. It is already hard enough to admit you need help, to be treated like this is unacceptable.I spoke to a Program Director and while they were willing to apologize, they took no responsibility for the actions of their organization.
Find another location / another practice, anything other than this place. Took 6 weeks to even get an appointment. Showed up early, as requested for new patients, but was given the wrong location, even after confirming the day before. The paperwork is unclear and asks for consent and legal signatures without any information as to what medical information youre signing away. After 3 different buildings, being shuffled between 3 different floors and waiting 2 hours to be seen, I went ahead and left. No idea if the medical staff is decent because the admin process prevents patients from being treated.
First time having to place a review for any medical facility in the 41 years living in NYC but I have to say I’m shocked and feel incredibly let down by the behavior from this clinic. I have been coming here for years, I have had several primary doctors assigned to me, and it’s only now that I am unable to even receive a response from my primary. It’s been weeks. This is a constant issue, and no matter how much I express my pain, I express my concern, I express that yes I have gone to the emergency room and was told that my issue must be taken to my primary doctor, even when I express another doctor I have met with expressing I need to take this matter to my primary doctor, I receive no response. It’s heartbreaking, it’s depressing, this clinic pushes you to the emergency room and when you go there the staff at the ER are just as confused as I am with why these issues are sent to an overwhelmed emergency room when it should be addressed by my doctor. I have receipts upon receipts documenting my desperate attempt to try and get help all left with no response. It’s scary to think I will receive help when it’s too late, and now I have had to make the decision to take my medical records else where after so many years coming to this clinic. I truly hoped care meant something with medical care.
I will try to be objective, but trust me I won’t come back even if it’s free. Pros: clean and comfortable environment, free clinic on Saturday, great attitude of the doctors and nurses(they are students). Cons: 2.5hours wait time for a physical check up/ 3 times drawing blood to find the blood vessel/ painful pep smear. I arrive at 11:40AM, and left at 4:30PM. a simple check up turned into a day of waiting. If you want treatment from real professionals. Please avoid this clinic.
From my pregnancy to when my child was born and after, the wait time was ridiculous. There should be no reason why my appointment is at 1 and Im not seen till 3. One time I actually sat for four hours before seeing a doctor. Its also annoying that my daughter doctor got switched every visit or ever other visit. I also had a nurse who was highly rude and aggressive when drawing blood. I report it to front desk, they told me to write it down and they will give it to the supervisor but nothing was ever done about it. This location at the time was the closest location to me when I was pregnant. Since it was still Covid I didnt want to risk going far especially after the birth. Now Im looking for a different place.
The lady who handled the phone today was really not doing her job so well and I will do everything in my power now to get her fired…I called to make an appt after waiting for hours and she picked up paid no attention to what I said then after I explained it to her the second time she finally understood then wants to say not to scream at her!! Please get better staff!!! Please this is not how health care supposed to be, and for ur stink attitude I’m just gonna say this….u wouldn’t do that if we was outside 🤣🤣🤣
I had a 10:45 appointment today and was called at 8:30 to say my appointment was canceled. I called on Sunday and spoke to a live person who confirmed my appointment. Thought it was unacceptable to cancel at the last minute. I had to see the doctor today as I need clearance for a procedure in 3 weeks. I was able to get another appointment today but wait time was horrible and had same experience of being left in a room for long periods of time and never knowing when or who would come back. Ended up spending over 3 hours there. When I did get to see or deal with the actual doctor, nurses and assistants, they were all good
I went In for a check up because of physical pain. There was a long wait, which I didnt mind. After finishing up with the doctor she told me to stay in the room and ordered blood work, I waited over an 1hr no one ever came to the room to draw my blood. They came back telling me the phlebotomist is gone for the day and that I would either have to come back or go to some other place to get my blood drawn. Im very surprised on how I handle myself, i kept my cool and walked out quietly. Thats unacceptable to have forgotten about a patient in an exam room. Beyond unacceptable!Update: I got an email last night when I logged into my chart I saw the result of my blood work! Please explain how you can furnish blood work result when no blood was drawn?????MEDICAL ERROR! On top of terrible customer service and to be forgotten in a room!
I had a good experience initially with Kayla Villanyi n her Supervisor Jessica Swartz she called on a Saturday that speak for itself. I dont have issues with the therapist capabilities I need a higher level of care. Mz Swartz stated she would do a referral. I didnt have the bad experience had a side from the way the call center is set up but once I reached someone it was fine. Not used to speaking with the same person as front desk. Mz Swartz was very receptive I hope she can do what she stated. A stipulation of lease contract is active therapy I will eventually get evicted I am physically disabled it takes me a really long time to get there from the outermost borough by public transportation. I didnt have the experience others I read have . Layla Villanyi didnt call to find out why I cancelled that augered bad things? I am hoping Mz Swartz will do what she said was possible. Its a stipulation in my lease I have therapy or Im evicted. I know its good business to concentrate on present clients. I didnt give them any trouble, I just hope what was promised will materialize. Fingers crossed. I will lose my apt.
I had a good experience no long wait times. The employees are nice and professional. The doctor explained everything thoroughly and was friendly.
Let me just start by saying that the majority of the employees that work at this location are not very bright. I requested a referral and it took them a week to try to accomplish an authorized referral. I was told numerous times someone will get back to me, I was told numerous times they put it as an urgent referral request and then I was told theres no referral department. Its so disappointing that these people who are incompetent of accomplishing anything, work in the medical field. It does not take an entire week to get an authorized referral from any insurance company. Spoke to a man who wanted to dismiss me and told me I have other patients in front of me, very unprofessional and uneducated. On top of that when you try to speak to these receptionists, they interrupt you and dont let you speak. Its sad that a lot of people have to deal with those type of people especially the older people I could only imagine how poorly they get treated. Patients, please look for doctors elsewhere and stop giving business to this particular location. It amazes me how you speak to a doctor and ask for authorized referral, and she didnt even put it incorrectly, and this is a person whom people trust to make medical decisions with their lives. Than to have these reception is have a attitude on top of it all, its really bad business. Its time to move on from this location. Hopefully theyll shut it down! This place doesnt even deserve one star yet alone 5. I had to reach out to the insurance company myself to get an authorized referral because of the incompetence of the employees that work at this location.
I have read through all these reviews and it seem that who ever in management is replying to various reviews is paying zero attention to their gripes. Ill outline the gripes again. There is no point in making appointment here as you will still have to wait HOURS. I recently made an appointment for 9am. I didnt see my doctor until 2 hours later. I made a scene to no avail. All the negative comments about reception are correct. I just tried phoning in and due to a higher volume of calls than normal, really?, I was told that I was 13th in line. How does this place stay in business. The only good bit is that I like my doctor.
This place came highly recommended by a good friend of mine. The doctors and staff were absolutely amazing. They made me feel comfortable and they definitely knew what they were doing. I saw that almost all of the poor ratings were due to the front desk and the long wait. However, I didn’t have any negative experience with the front desk people and the wait time is not longer than any other clinic/hospital I have been to in the past.
Good doctors and staff, I came very early in the morning 8:30 and was seen quickly, long wait times are probably in afternoon hours. There’s a lot of people in this city, not just one’s self!
Cant speak more positively about this place. Yes, they are very busy and have wait times, but the facilities are always clean, and the staff are always kind and attentive. Each time that Ive been here, the doctors and staff treated me great and took their time to answer all of my medical qs and counseling me. Ive been coming here for some years now, and the staff are also incredibly talented- some being professors and very well seasoned medical professionals. Ill continue coming in for as this place is around (just wish they had an office in Queens!)
The care once you actually get in to see someone is good. My issue has been with scheduling and trying to get ahold of someone with questions. First off, I schedule my appointments well ahead of time so I will not have any trouble securing one. Every time, however, my appointment has been canceled by the office because the doctor won’t actually be in that day. It’s Happened three times now and I wonder why they even have the doctor’s book open so much if their schedule isn’t clear. Second, every time I have tried to call with a question recently, the call back system does NOT work (they claim you won’t lose your place in line but then just never call). And when I have waited for upwards of 40 minutes on hold to speak to a nurse, I am then regularly hung up on right when I am supposed to be the next caller to be answered. They need to seriously fix this system so I can get ahold of someone!!!
An appointment is 45 in the future. So you are forced to go to the walk-in. I showed up at 8:30am to be told that they were having a meeting and they would not be ready until 9:30! Seriously. So I had to leave and go to the 17th St location. After waiting 45 minutes in the waiting, was seen by a nurse and told the doctor had one patient ahead of me. Over an hour later was told the same thing. I can understand if they were busy but 1 patient per hour? I have no patience for incompetence or lies, which I got there. The doctors are nice but seriously?
From start to finish, this place is terrible. Putting aside the ridiculous elevator situation that tacks on an additional 5-7 minutes just to get to your floor, the receptionist literally acted as if I were invisible. Zero eye contact, just sat there chatting with her little friend who was evidently on his way out for lunch. Clearly had no sense of needing to welcome patients. The long periods it takes to 1) register with the desk, 2) be called back for your appt, 3) wait for the PA, then the MD, then the particularly excessive wait for the nurses to come administer my flu shot and draw my blood, were all aggravatingly slow to occur. Oh did I mention the nurse who administered my blood draw decided that the best way to do so was puncture my arm, then pivot the damn needle 40 degrees to the left to find my vein that she evidently came nowhere near... it was short-lived but shockingly painful to the point where I yelled out in surprise and agony. To add to the 2.25 hours that it took for nothing more than an annual physical, blood panel, and flu shot, over a week later my TEST RESULTS which I need to start a new job have still not been uploaded to my online chart, and the administrative hold-up is delaying my employment and preventing me from starting my job!!! Its literally costing me money, every single day. You can call and email all you want, but youll never be put directly in touch with a doctor, a nurse, or any administrator, and are instead relegated to speaking only with the person who answers the phone. S/He will, at best, send a direct message over to someone who will hopefully get back to you sometimes within the hour, sometimes 48 hours later, but that has never happened either. I have called for a week, emailed for a week, and never had a response of any kind. The solution they offer you for anything and everything is, Come in to speak with someone in person. How convenient, when I live 45 minutes away! But I have no choice now, and will have to make the trek in today despite having other things I need to attend to, because this could go on indefinitely, but I need my paycheck! What a mistake Ive made going there. I wouldnt recommend them to anyone. I was desperate because they at least took my insurance, but it has only done me harm in the long run.
The medical and clerical staff is very nice and professional! Once you pass the front desk, you should be fine... but They have the most disgusting, rude and not compassionate front desk ever. No manners. They simply look like they don’t want to be there. Dealing with them is the most frustrating experience, really sad nowadays. The 3 woman on the 6th floor are plain horrible and certainly do not deserve their position. Good luck to anyone who have no choice but to go there.
The nurses are the only thing good about this place. The receptionist dont have time for you, make you wait if theyre just feeling like it. Both referral technicians have lunch at the same time for an hour. And thats just what one receptionist said then sent me down stairs. For the next one to have me waiting without even telling me the same. Wasnt until a nurse who I seen me before to work on my referral. Thats just the referral!!! Never mind Ive had an issue for over a month and have been just a guinea pig for student after student. Problem getting worse and worse. Still nowhere close to finding out the issue. Wish someone would have warned me
Edited to reflect my latest experienceNew patients. DO NOT COME HERE. Ive been a patient of a doctor here for almost 15 years, but this latest set of appointments has me looking for a new PCP and OBGYN. Repeat: New patients, do not come here.I had a regular checkup a few weeks ago. An examination, taking vitals, and drawing blood took almost 3 hours. And yes, I made an appointment. At one point, after being in the exam room for over 30 mins with technicians coming in to CHECK THE FURNITURE, I asked a tech to check whats going on. Apparently my alternate doctor had not notified anyone to draw blood and nobody was available. Someone reluctantly came in, with an attitude, and literally said to my face, Well, no ones here to help you, so Im here to do this. That did not instill a lot of confidence in me and I told her that.A week and a half later, the office calls saying that one of the blood tests was messed up. I totally expected this because I had to remind the reluctant tech that I had urine and blood samples strewed around the exam room and that she may want to take note of that. While I dont know if that was the cause of the error, it understand how such an error could occur in a disorganized office.I come in today, AFTER INSISTING I MAKE AN APPOINTMENT because the receptionist just thought it would be ok for me to drop in. After over an hour of waiting, I get told that the test that they messed up was not ordered and that I needed to go down the street to get my blood drawn. At this point Ive been here for 90 minutes, almost missed my next meeting, and I still have not drawn blood for a mistake they made.Too many mistakes, not enough apologies or rational explanations.Bye Institute of Family Health. Your service has been terrible and I wont remember you fondly at all.
Second visit at this Clinic and Im (sorry not sorry) I could not be less than impressed the first time I gave these people the benefit of the doubt that next time maybe our visit will be more better but no way it was worst - the waiting time to see the doc was WAY Too Long and we were called inside Im talking past a half hour long which is completely unacceptable if youre in a medical profession and the Receptionist all they is do is have conversations behind the desk could care less about what you came there for! Unprofessional! Im not sure on my mothers next visit here but Im contemplating on taking her medical needs elsewhere! I heard theres a Brooklyn location for this facility so well try over there next time to see what its like.
I understand the other comments however they have strict policies. Do I get the struggles. I have experienced nothing but high level professionalism and my doctor is a top notch person, well known in the medical field. Over the past year the Institute of Family Practice has been my go to and I have never been misguided.
Let us begin with their receptionists. They are disgustingly rude. They seem to want to say NO to clients before even trying to help and figure out what the client needs. I wish I wouldve asked them their names but, they were so crass and brash that I didnt want to speak to them. Now on to Dr. Jianna Menendez. I was scheduled for a 7:15pm appointment with her, mind you they close at 8pm. Her bedside manner was robotic and not attentive. As I observed everyone was getting ready to go home by the time she saw me. She tells me Im 10.5 weeks and because of personal matters shell be referring me ro a high risk clinic. Now, I truly believe this woman didnt give a single care about me as a patient. She should have given me an ultrasound to make sure everything was going fine from the last time I was there. It was two weeks prior. She of course didnt do the 10 minute procedure because her office was closing. How dare they spend 10 minutes on a patient. Laughable at the less than mediocre care she gave me. I must add that she definitely finished her questioning and printing of the referral by closing time. Now my issue is had she done the ultrasound I would have known my fetus no longer had a heartbeat. My fetus stopped developing at around 8-9 weeks. It wasnt until almost 12 days later did I find out the devastating news at the clinic I was referred to. I had a dead fetus in me for almost two weeks due to Menendezs negligent care. Thank you for hurting my family and hindering my emotional health. We thought we had passed the 12th week mark of a possible miscarriage. I must add that she is in the wrong field, her background in inner city issues best serves her to be a correctional officer. Robotic , stoic and cold.
Both times that I have been here, the wait has been over an hour. Honestly, thats not the worst part. I went in because I have been feeling extraordinarily fatigued. The doctor (Dr. Alakija) spent at least 10 minutes talking to me about upping my fluoxetine (Prozac) when I stated multiple times that I am in the best mental health that I have been in a long time and that the fatigue was not due to depression.I then specifically disclosed a pre-existing blood condition which causes anemia, but the type of anemia is NOT iron-deficiency anemia. In fact, it can be harmful for me to take iron because I specifically do not have an iron deficiency. However, when my blood results came back, she told me I needed to take iron. If I had not been aware of this contraindication, I would have put myself at risk. When I brought this up to her, she brushed it off and blamed it on having to see so many patients in one day. Then, to really put the icing on the cake, in my follow-up appointment, I was told to see a hematologist in case my fatigue is related to my blood condition. The hematologist to whom they referred me died in 2010, which I found out when I called the phone number provided on the referral. Incredibly disappointed at the lack of attention to detail here and I am concerned for patients who do not have my knowledge or ability to advocate for themselves.
Family member needed medical help and had received free services with them in the past. When I made the appointment, they said they took our insurance and it would be covered. When the person got to the appointment, they refused to even look at the insurance card. The person was a minor and a parent was not allowed in due to COVID. The minor continued with the procedure as they needed the medical help. Now I have bills over $250 coming in months later. 😡😡😡 Deceitful organization. Bad service. Bad treatment.
There is a huge problem when it comes to medication refills. I dont know how did this office send my medication to Wallgreens when I never used them as my pharmacy? They sent it there because CVS contacted the office saying they didnt have the medication I needed, but little did they know that both of these pharmacies use the same supplier so none of them had the medication. On Friday I had the office to transfer the medication to Costco which had that medication available , told them its urgent and to be done right away because I was supposed to take the dose on Wednesday so I was already 2 days behind (mind you this is the medication that need to be taken systematically otherwise it defeats its purpose), so now its Saturday I called to check where is my med and guess what office is closed and only call reps are picking up the phone , nobody had the chance to send a script to Costco for a medication that I was already late for. I was told the earliest is Monday. Thank you very much for your care.
Since my regular Dr wasnt responding because of the present Covid crisis, the Institute..., was recommended to me. After asking for a call back because of a long reservation telephone cue, I was eventually called back and got an appointment for the next day. Yes everything went well and the Dr. went out of her way to be helpful. It was a good experience... Be polite, the intake staff is over burdoned...
Their front desk are a hit and sometimes major misses, these nurses can be dismissive . But for a sliding clinic they are clean and one doctor I had Anna S. and she was amazing. I understand that front desk gets a lot of grunt work, but it can be frustrating to feel like you have to ask for help 3 times for a simple check in. Kathura my social worker was very helpful and listened to my needs 100 percent. Sarah is great in mental health, this clinic offers a very innovative approach to mental health.
This is the first review Ive ever felt the need to write about anything. DO NOT COME HERE. The doctors are great and qualified but unfortunately their front desk, customer service, and medical assistants are rude and unprofessional. On top of that you will likely have to wait HOURS to get seen just for Vitals to be taken. It truly is a shame. To the front desk person that works there I honestly dont even know how you still have a job. Literally all of these reviews are complaints about you.
First day I was waiting 2 hours for social worker who said that she doesnt have time today to do assessment for me. I made appointment for tomorrow at 11 AM and still I was wainting more than hour. I asked for supervisor, front desk told me to take a seat and wait ??? Then I did the assesment and nobody call me because I didnt report that i changed my number (that was my first appointment after 3 years, ok maybe my mistake). 10 days after my complaint they called me to say that my assessment is not saved and I have to do it again, and I cant do it soon because they are so busy clinic and I have to wait next available appointment (probably next week) to do the same thing I did before. For me, experience is for 0 stars.
I love Dr. Fallon who is my doctor (nurse practitioner), but the wait times are insane, especially if you have work during the week. I often wait over one hour to see someone. Also, unfortunately, when you call to make an appointment, the hold time on average runs about 20 minutes.
The medical providers, social workers and counselors are nice, understanding and pleasant to work with. The front desk has the most unprofessional, rude, careless customer service. I hardly EVER get eye contact, no effort is made to engage with anyone standing in front of the desk. I often have to go up to the front desk, stand there awkwardly and try to get their attention to check in for my appointment. Everyone seems bored, annoyed and I’ve heard many conversations about going on lunch, eating lunch behind he desk, and random side conversations with co-workers or other people standing around the desk. They clearly have “I hate my job” written all over their forehead. I would leave it at the fact that they’re just disinterested but the condescending attitude that I just received from one of the receptionists just sent me over the edge. Don’t ask me a question and then snap at me because I was confused about what you were asking. I will still be coming here for the people behind the scenes taking care of me very well.
This is the worst clinic to attend to not only are they rude they are incompetent In doing their jobs. they have one lady in the front name Diana who they have doing all the secretary work and putting all the patients in.the line goes from the beginning of the door to the elevator they never have appointments And when you ask them for forms they never filled them out this is the worst clinic I have ever been to.I hope this clinic is shut down by JACho
I rarely write reviews but wanted to share my experience with the prenatal care I received.Dr Hashemi & Dr Rai are amazing doctors, were always so prompt in messaging me back with any questions I had, gave me so much advice and took great care and made me feel at ease during my pregnancy. They truly care about your well being and I was very sad to leave and only had to because I was considered a high risk pregnancy and had to be transferred to Mt Sinai.
The worst experience ever with the registered nurses. Here they are rude, not friendly, never smile, but thats peanuts compared to their sheer incompetence when it comes to drawing blood. Last time I was there, I was sitting and waiting for her to take my blood. She was standing and didnt even sit or bend down a bit to draw my blood. She just pinch me from the standing position. It was painful and didnt feel normal, it was a feeling as if she pierced a vein through...After that it hurt all day. Here is the picture of the bruise after 3 days.I know at least 2 persons who had the same complaints about blood work procedures at this facility. Actually, their experiences were even worse than mine. The nurse couldnt do it from the first time (even though the patinent had good veins) so she made multiple attempts. As a result patients blood was all over the sleeve and dripping onto the floor. These people shouldnt be workibg at the clinic, in my opinion. Sorry, but their arms grow from the wrong place... Either learn your trade, or look for another profession. If you can avoid to do your blood work there, please do it elsewhere. I think you can do it next door in radiology office.
Dont pick Kristen Gavidia. Choose another doctor with more experience and knowledge. Because of lack of knowledge and wrong advice, patient took a long time to recover from an illness.
Very impatient doctors (weve seen 4 doctors in total for 3 visits), does not truly care about patients; In a hurry to finish checkups; Doctors are very rude to patients and their family when further asking about health-related questions; front desk not helpful when having inquiriesYoull need to wait forever to be seenNever answers calls, puts you on hold for 15+ minutes on averageDoes not truly care about patients at all!0 stars.
I just left 17th St clinic .. I got there @1:13pm and its 3:17 pm now and still no dr.i knew I would have to wait because I had no appt but 2hrs in a Dr office during covid is unexcepable . I think I have pink eye and I know its contagious so after waiting in the sitting area for about 1hr and 20 min .. I was moved to the back and put in a room where the shut the door because it pink eye and its contagious.. but still no Dr.. so if you don t mind the waiting this is the place for you .. I did pack my patience, but at the end it became too much for me so I left after wasting 2hr of my life ...÷34th
Walked up to the desk and was about to speak. The lady made eye contact, got up, walked away, and grabbed something from the back counter saying, ill be with you in a moment. While her back was facing me.Told her it was my 1st time. She gave me paperwork. I filled it out and went to return it. She was too busy gossiping with a coworker to acknowledge me. She eventually looked at me, I gave her my papers, she asked for my ID. I went to take my ID out and she continued to gossip and did not say a word to me after that. The nice lady next to her had my paperwork and nicely asked for my ID and communicated with me. I didnt even see the rude one had my paperwork over to her or maybe she took it from miss talks allot. She wasnt out of her way rude but shes still very much so rude and unprofessional. Im scared about my visit and I dont really trust this location for treatments I may need because of the front desk staff... they reflect the place. THE FRONT DESK STAFF ARE CURRENTLY GOSSIPING AND TALKING LOUDLY ENOUGH TO PULL ME OUT OF MY BOOK. The only one who seems to be doing their work from the 3 sitting here is the ONE lady who was polite and helpful to me.Aaaaaand I havent even been seen yet...
If I could give 0 stars I would. I don’t understand why this place make you schedule an appointment when you wait as if you were a walk in at a free clinic. It’s just ridiculous. My 90 year old grandfather just waited 2 and a half hours to be seen when he originally had an appointment. Unless you want to wait for mediocre medical advice, please don’t go here.
THE WORST DOCTOR’S IN NEW YORK! Completely unprofessional and incompetent staff- from information center, to front desk staff, to nurses, and doctors.I was told to call ahead for walk ins to make sure they are seeing walk ins for that day. After calling and being told to come in- I went in only to have the terribly rude front desk girl tell me that they aren’t seeing walk ins and there’s no way for her to tell me when they will be seeing walk ins- which was a lie.She then got the manager and the manager told me they could see walk ins and had me wait for ONE HOUR until a nurse came out and told me they were not seeing walk ins. This is completely unprofessional and a huge waste of my time. I will make sure to tell everyone about this place and NEVER come back to this joke of an office
I have been a patient at this clinic since about 1982 when I was treated homeopathically. Since then I have had a series of exceptionally empathetic MDs, mostly women, who treated me with respect. Many of my favorites were Osteopathic MDs. My only difficulties with the clinic were long waits when calling on the phone or waiting to see a MD.I have noticed a change in the nurses over the years; earlier they were able to give naturopathic advice or home remedies, such as tinctures for earaches, to avoid antibiotics. Also, earlier referrals were to Beth Israel specialists, but that is not the case if you request referrals to other groups as I do. I will continue to receive care at the new facility.
I’ve been desperately trying to get a hold of my Dr.I’ve sent message after message.. no response- usually she responds quickly- no one who may be covering for her responds- so I’m calling, on hold for hours, no matter what extension I’ve tried, I can’t get a hold of someone for my prescriptions, which I’m currently completely out of..And I’m worried.I guess I have to go to city md or something to try and get my refills.I don’t know what’s going on with this place. It used to be semi reliable. And I like my dr. Maybe she quit or something? So I’m doneAVOID!If you can’t even get the prescriptions you depend on to LIVE then why bother.
I would give 0 stars if I could. This place is ALWAYS running a minimum of 45 minutes behind, even first thing in the morning. I once waited 2 hours to be seen by the doctor WITH an appointment. The reception staff and doctors are also rude and unhelpful.
The Institute is a place where everyone can go (they accept you even if you dont have insurance) so if the waits are long then thats why. I have to believe that the doctors and nurses working here are because they believe in the philosophy of caring for ALL. I appreciate what they do here and so if you are going there and youve been waiting for a long time, take it with a grain of salt and remember, if the receptionists are a little cranky its because people have been yelling at them all day.
RidiculousI went there for an intake and saw a Dr who was extremely rude for 2 minutesInstead of telling me they didnt have any available appointments, she told me they would get back to me in a few.days .2 weeks later nothing..I called and was told i was informed earlier they had told me they had no appointments.Extremely frustrating because this is not trueWaste of my time in which I could have been looking for another facility.
Clean and friendly. Dr. Kaur saw me almost immediately and not only did she see me for what I originally asked her for, she offered an additional service that I needed so I didnt need to see another physician! Highly recommend.
Most unprofessional. Was promised a walk in at 530 and it took everything I had in me to make it to the office due to my issue. I get there at 517 to prep my forms and they phone somebody... No walk ins today. Now Im thrown out the door without an in network doctor in sight. No thank you to this practice.
No organization at the front desk. Reception area is very small and becomes cramped and staff become overwhelmed quickly. Everything is new compared to the old location. It appears the seasoned staff is gone. Over all a terrible experience. There was also no one in lobby to direct people.
I waited for a Doctor Jafeen Ilmundeen for almost an hour, no appologies.Ten I almost yell at her to get a refferal to see a specialist. She said if i dont bleed, so i dont have to go to see the specialist..... Do we all have to wait for an extreme in our health...or should we prevent the problem??? I dont need to get a Doc degree to understand that I have a problem.... JC....And lastly she wrote in refferal that I have an Impulse Control Disorder....Sure, right!.... after waiting for an hour and spend 10min with me she wrote this????? After 5 times I refused the vaccination....litteraly I said NO 5 times.....she wrote this????.Seriously????? Horrable person.....I wish i could do more then write this...... for all people who need REAL Doctors who care what they do!!!
Dont ever come here. The nurse was so rude and left me in the room waiting for 3 hours to see the doctor. When I went to ask someone when was going to see the doctor, all I got was an attitude. Please avoid this place at all cost.
Some of the best care I’ve ever received. Incredible staff.
This Institute is the WORST! Ive called four times a week for the results of the lab tests I Had THREE MONTHS AGO, but no one ever picks up. Instead the machine says youll get a callback, but you never do. And if you wait on line (for about 40 minutes), when youre told youre Caller # 1, the line cuts off. Im writing the Department of Health about them.
Warning. This place will schedule you for an appointment and then, when you come in for that appointment, tell you “We’re sorry we’re not taking new patients at this time. I know that’s frustrating. Feel free to complain. But this is just how we do it.” Seriously. I’m not kidding. Argh!
Telehealth sessions are a joke. Worse than a hospital ER at least there they poke you and prod you past hello. Only Dr Gillespie in person gave me hope.
I only care for the doctors and nurses over there, they’re AWESOME but some of the front desk staff are unprofessional. They need that extra training and also why is there just one elevator ? What happens when people get stuck? Anyway, overall I like that clinic .
First time going, waited 2+ hours just for me to ask the front desk receptionist how much longer i had left to wait and he told me i wasn’t even on the right list so i had to wait another 45 to be seen. Second time, waited about 2.5 hours to be seen. Once i finally was i went in just for them to call me days later saying i’d have to come in again because they never sent any of my samples to the lab.
Institute Center for Counseling at 17th Street was a good place to go till they gave me a psychiatrist nameHallie McCafferty she dont treat people with respect in my point of view she dont like Spanish people and is still wet in the ears. I dont ever want to see her again she makes me uncomfortable.. I give her a F +
They will leave you waiting for over one hr and pretend that you are being impatient if you dare to ask anything
I love this place. You can walk in without an appointment at 17th Street and be treated by caring professional. I live in NYC now, but used to travel from Long Island for medical as well as mental health treatment and therapy. 5 stars!
Terrible for Mental Health. They leave patients hanging. They never get back to you, and neglect their patients. They never follow up. Who knows how many of their patients commit suicide because of their negligence! I hope they get sued.
Scheduled at elevenNot yet, would like to rescheduleThe admission lady was telling other ladyIts free , its freeSo come with no planYou dont have the to be seen at time you were scheduled that lady was here before me.Just the tone was really not comfortable and mean
Had me wait 40 minutes thinking I was checked for my sons appointment only to tell me that his insurance is good but their system is not registering him people who had appointments after me have already been in and out as me and my 5 year old son waiting this clinic is the worst then the receptionist gave me an attitude when I asked we will still be seen we are now going on 2hours still not checked in because they close at 8pm and it is now 20 minutes too we been here since 0620 there the worse after tonight I will not be back!
I love my doctors at this office but SINCE THE DOWNSIZE FROM 16 e 16 street THE PLACE HAS TAKEN A BIG FALL , THE FRONT DESK STAFF IS RUDE AND DISRESPECTFUL NO MATTER WHAT TIME OF DAY .ITS TIME CONSUMING TO COME HERE EVEN WITH A SCHEDULED APPOINTMENTONE ELEVATOR AND NO STAIRSAPPOINTMENTS SHIFTING FROM FLOOR TO FLOOR AND BACK WITH ONE WAY OF TRANSPORTING.They need a larger office PERIOD
There is no reason a pregnant woman can’t be seen if she has an appointment. This is just unprofessional in my opinion.
The people working here are so incompetent and it’s clear that they all hate working there, because it’s a bad work place environment and they’re probably getting paid nothing. America, shape up your health care system !
If I could give no stars I would. The staff here have no business having these jobs. The deny care to people in so many way and the reviews speak for themselves. AVOID!!!!
The receptionist on the Severn floor jasmin h is awesome very friendly and very professional it was a pleasure to ask questions and took her time to answer me politely thank you great visit there and was called quickly not that much waiting
If you have an alternative, its likely to be better than this clinic. Good luck!
Waited 3 hours, nurse was rude (She said the patient was making her life difficult because she couldnt find patients information)
All I can say is: next time I’m either sticking to my usual Harlem location or going to CityMD. Don’t know why I didn’t think of CityMD earlier. I’ve been waiting so long I started talking to myself.
The worst been trying to make a mental health appointment for 2 months. Im really not well and they refuse to help me. They should be shut down!!
I got a great reception, well manner of nursing and response fast. Overall, great service and nice staffs.
Partially good service. Hard to get in contact with doctors at times. Lots of stuff available to you however.
I trust all my family care to the Institute. I follow them from office to office as I can rely on excellent service and real care
Great practitioners. Just hard to get an appointment.
Worst is an understatement.
Waited an hour and 15 mins and gave up. Will find another PCP
Had a very good experience with all the staff and doctor.
I wouldnt give them one star. They dont care at all.
Minus point!horrible place.give an appointment at 10am but let us wait more than 2 hours and half.and nobody knows what’s going on.ever never go again.
Dr. Ravi is nice, and understanding. Like she was met to help people🙏🏽
Staff is great but a 2 hour wait time even with an appointment is unacceptable.
Long wait despite appointment, but great doctor.
Wouldn’t recommend at all they make you wait so long I waited almost three hours
Unreal! worst staff i have experienced ever
The very rude want a better doctor
I am currently waiting now30 minutes just to talk to someoneNot good
Some front desk staff are extremely rude and unprofessional.
The wait to see the doctor is poor the staff is bad to
The efficiency is impeccable. I love the professionalism.
The wait time here is truly unacceptable.
TERRIBLE AFTER CARE. Call center is incompetent
Very good. Excelent.
Very disorganized and unwelcoming staff.
Expencive
